The negative reviews of Dower House, an Indian restaurant, have surprised me. Upon reading them, I discovered that some customers had a takeaway and encountered a quick service as their food was prepared within two minutes after arrival. Moreover, they expressed admiration for the quality of the curry, considering it one of the best they've ever had. Similarly, another customer who ordered a takeaway commended the owners for going beyond expectations to create an authentic restaurant experience.
Amazing, we ordered takeaway and the owners went above and beyond to provide that restaurant experience for us. Excellent quality food, we will be visiting again.

I love the curry's 🍛😋 at Dower House! I visited on a Thursday night recently, a small group of 3, around 18:45, there were a few tables available and it filled up towards 8pm. I booked online 💻 and it took 24 hours before they replied. So I'd say if you wanted to make sure you're booked in contact the restaurant and book 📖. You enter through the side door 🚪and arrive at a check in desk, if nobody is there continue through and left onto the bar and they'll seat you from there. A nice pint of kingfisher 🍺 We had a couple of poppadoms each and a pickle tray, it was all really fresh and the lime pickle was easily the best I've had in ages! 💯 I had Chicken Dansak for main, a nice sweet curry 🍛 😋 and some pilau rice and a garlic chapati (not on the menu but they were happy to make it - it was really garlicky 🧄🧄🧄 🤩) It all tasted great 😃 We all had a starter and a main, + 1 garlic naan, 1 rice 🍚 1 chapati - 2 pints 1 pint of coke and we had white coffees ☕ to finish. It came to just over £100 which I felt was reasonable for the quality and service. The place was clean and tidy and the staff were all friendly 💪👍🤩 My photos didn't come out very well, I only managed the starter! Pakora photo, which tasted great. I can't wait to go back again 😍

I haven't been to this restaurant for a long time and that will be the case again!! We had booked for 4 people at 7.30. I got greeted by a rude gentleman who just basically sat us in a waiting corner and left us there. It was 30mins before we got offered a drink and a full 50 mins before taken to a table after I asked what was going on. When being served we noticed the waiter was more friendly with a regular group and was amazed to see them turn up 30mins after us, sit down 10mi s after us and still get their starters before us. All the way through I was on edge as I believed we had done something to offend. It was the first night out with friends where I was still sober inthe taxi on the way home. Strangely as we was finishing the waiter was oddly smiley and pleasant but that soon changed again when he didn't receive a tip for service 🤣 The food was good but over priced. I do not mind paying more when the service is quality but I feel I wouldve had auch better evening in Lancers or over the road at China Rose where the service is always top notch. A completely ruined evening and I will not be returning.

Excellent service & excellent food ... as usual. Dower House is always spot on

Poor service, Poor quality food... If Ignorance and rudeness is what you want, then go to this establishment.... BUT... Lancers, over the road offers great food (and larger portions)... Plus the service comes with respect and a smile.... The Dower House is a very poor experience... Go elsewhere.

As a party of 5 who went on Christmas Eve as a family spending over £200 we found that the food was mediocre, the table service was appalling. One man with no hair was particularly rude, grunted when we spoke to him and had little in customer service skills. There are a lot of staff whizzing around and the bar staff were friendly admittedly but given that they brought out the wrong dish, the grumpy man who made us feel uncomfortable, the two round tables pushed together for a party of five that made us feel disjointed and the rice which was not very hot is why we’ve given the review accordingly. We did leave a tip (after all it was Christmas) and we hope this review helps them to improve their service. Such a shame we had the experience we did.

We ordered for a group of family and friends as a takeaway from these guys-they went out of their way to be helpful and managed me calling and changing and rearranging things a few times - will definitely use them again as the quality was fantastic - everything was well balanced and fresh, and left a “curry savvy” group of folks all singing the praises of both portion sizes , flavour and quality of ingredients. Impressive. It rounded off a great day for everyone. Thank you!!

NIce place to visit and has quite a few free parking bays but there doesn't seem to be any Blue Badge spaces. The inside is tastefully decorated. The the staff are friendly and make you feel welcome, atmosphere was relaxed, the background authentic music was at a level where you could converse with ease. Good menu to chose from with reasonable prices. Our party of 12 was attended to in a timely fashion, the staff appear to be a well oiled chain! People that smoke may find it disapointing that there doesn't seem to be a covered smoking shelter. Wheelchair users would find it challenging to navigate inside. Toilets are on first floor which is OK for the fit and able :-) Everyone in our group enjoyed the food, no compliants.

It's Sunday night and I'm at a loose end and still trying out the various local restaurants having only moved back into the area recently. The venue was busier than I expected (always a good sign) and I was soon seated. Service was steady (not slow but occasionally things took a little longer than they should) but it was clear they had staff training that evening. Always polite though. My meal was OK. My starter was not amazing but nothing wrong with it either. My main, although tasty seemed lacking in spice. Again, nothing wrong but nothing to set my world on fire. But it wasn't cheap. I have had much better curry for less money in recent months so it just felt slightly over priced especially given the location hence a solid 4 stars. So I may well return and if you are in Bawtry, it's the best curry I have had in the town to date so you won't be disappointed.

Had a meal at Ziniz with my husband for my 50th. Three course meal, Bolly, wine, coffee and liqueurs. Came to about £260, but worth every penny! Attentive staff, amazing food and an evening to remember!

Me and the wife **Child Free 🆓** stopped here for dinner 🍽️ the menu was really good with lots of different Italian classic options! The food tasted great 😋 Staff were friendly and the service was quick. Plenty of parking 🅿️ available at the front of the restaurant / Bar, but it's paid parking. And can get busy on a Saturday. We went on Sunday around 4pm and there were plenty of spaces. £2 parking fee. All in all a very good experience! Thanks for looking after us ❤️

Atmosphere wonderful ✨️ Service excellent, each member of the team were polite, pleasant friendly and helpful. Both starters were excellent. Main meals My husband had steak which he described as the best he has eaten in the last 15 years . Pizza for me ,really delicious. I had ordered fries aswell which truthfully I didn't need. We shared a dessert and then had a lovely coffee to finish Excellent evening. Thank you all for making the evening so special.

SO impressed!! It was absolutely fantastic, from the very first enquiry to the very last minute, everything was just perfect. The staff honestly went above & behind to help me. From the moment I arrived they helped me carry my bags (I had a few decorations) to our table. Parking was great too, there’s plenty of space. I literally parked right outside the door which was a bonus for getting the balloons out of the car on a windy day. They cater for everyone, they take allergies and food intolerances incredibly serious. There was 11 of us in total and each one of us enjoyed their meal, we all had different options! The pizzas looked amazing, the pasta dishes looked delicious and my risotto was the best I’ve had. Every staff member was attentive, polite, friendly & super helpful. The menu may be ‘pricey’ (other peoples quotes) but the quality of the food really justifies the cost. I actually travelled for 1 hour to celebrate my friends special occasion here and I would definitely come back! Such a pretty little town too. Thank you to everyone at Ziniz, we all had the best time and you were all amazing.

This place is a joke. Alghough the menu was full of Italian names, their reference to a Tuscan cuisine is an offence to the latter, at least from my own experience. I had a Minestrone that was made from  what looked like a local frozen veg mix, with a bit of tomato and some pasta, without any trace of herbs or spices, let alone Italian in it. Tasteless. They also charged £8.50 for it, in the menu it's £6.25. My second course was the 'Artisan Ravioli'. The name suggests they have to be 'home made', the waiter 'thought 'they were. But no, the pasta was shop bought, they were stuffed with some tasteless paste, served with killed spinach and bland tomato mass. As I refused to eat it, they didn't charge for it, at least. Staff were unprofessional, they don't know their dishes. Nice courtyard though

Popped in here on the way home from our family holiday. Located in a very nice small town it has an excellent menu and the food was amazing. Definitely the best ragu sauce I’ve ever tasted. So glad we found this place and I would go out my way to return.

Lovely food, really enjoyed the main course in particular. Formal dining here but enjoyable, decent service. Pricey but food quality worth it. Could easily manage three courses here. Staff were attentive and polite. Only slight negative was it was very noisy when we were in but it was a Saturday night so to be expected close to the bar area.

The Classic Cafe received high praise for their outstanding service and delicious food. A late evening message on WhatsApp requesting catering for 15 people was promptly replied to, even outside of business hours, with assurance that they would be happy to accommodate the request. However, upon arrival, there were closer to 25 people in the party, yet this did not pose a problem for the cafe at all. The table was prepared and the waitstaff were efficient, polite, and well-organized.
We had lunch at The Classic and Contemporary Cafe at Bawtry Caravans today. We chose cheese and onion sandwiches, bacon , Brie and cranberry panini, and ham and cheddar panini - all served with a crisp salad, coleslaw and fries. Generous portions and great tastes, and lots of choice on the menu!

Very clean and spacious with relaxing decor. Tables are well spaced out, staff are attentive. Vegan and vegetarian options could be improved and this would draw more people in. Toilet facilities clean and tidy. Range of smaller and bigger tables. However the round small tables are too small and require removing the salt and pepper holder to create space. They ok if just having a drink but too small if having food.
Ruth Mcauley — Google review
Lovely food and lots of it. However we weren't acknowledged when we entered by any staff for about 5 minutes even though plenty walking passed us. We asked not to put coleslaw on our plates but they did but no chips and no condiments of any sort. We will go again but would ask for a little better service please. Maybe just an off day.

AMAZING. Thank you so much to all of the team at the Cafe for their amazing service and food today. I sent a late evening message on whatts app to see if they could cater for 15 people for a birthday breakfast and was replied to out of hours with reassurance they would be happy to have us. We then showed up with closer to 25 of us which was not a problem for them at all. The table was ready, the waitress’s were on point and very polite and organised. Food wise we had a mixture of full breakfasts and other options from the menu which all came out in record time with no complications / mistakes and tasted fabulous! Highly recommend for group bookings as it’s a lovely big space and well equipt for all ❤️ massive thanks to all and we will be back soon!

Stopped to look in the shop but didn't purchase anything. We ordered 2 different toasted sandwiches and hot drinks and bottles of water. Both sandwiches came with salad garnish and coleslaw. Both of us found the sandwiches to be really filling and very tasty. Highly recommended

Nipped in here for food with us shopping here, and with the welcoming of a member of staff and her service. This is why I am writing this review. As we walked In, we could see it was extremely busy and a lady member of staff asked if we had booked, we hadn't she was extremely friendly and said she would see if there was a table available. She promptly went of cleared a table and seated us. This member of staff was such a breath of fresh air was so happy, polite and made us smile and laugh, I watched this lady with everybody and everything she was doing she didn't stop, she took our order also. Through her service, I would most certainly would come back, I do hope this review gets back to her ( she had really dark hair, fringe, glasses, middle age )as she Is an employee a company should value she was rushed of her feet but showed nothing but happiness, true customer service, Thankyou sorry I didn't get to say good bye. The food was nice. The service was excellent.

This establishment was recommended to me so to be honest I always approach with scepticism. I ordered the classic breakfast what an amazing delight. The presentation, quality of produce and the taste surpassed not only my expectations but also that of the initial recommendation. It is evident that this team not only know food but absolutely love food and the feeling it has on there customers. My tastebuds are still singing and dancing. Thank You so much J

This was the third visit in recent months. For the other members of the party, there was plenty of choice and the food arrived well presented and was enjoyed. However, I require gluten Free. For a cafe that prides itself in serving some gluten free cakes, there needs to be more attention to the general menu. On two of the three visits, disappointingly, I have been told that the gluten free bread order has not arrived, so I have been offered a jacket potato. With a little bit of imagination, a wider range of dishes could be made available. Jacket potato and chocolate brownie are the standard gf offerings for the 10% of us who have to be gluten-free in the population. Unfortunately, the chips are apparently cooked in a general fryer so cannot be offered with sandwiches etc as for other customers.

El Toro Restaurant is a truly remarkable establishment, where customers are provided exceptional service by the amiable and knowledgeable server, Raz. The sangria offered at this eatery is delightful, and their all-you-can-eat tapas menu boasts an extensive array of delectable options. While the San Miguel beef could benefit from additional flavoring, the majority of dishes served here are outstanding, guaranteeing a memorable dining experience.
It was quiet at first but filled out after half an hour or so for a nice low buzz. Don't bother with a glass of sangria....get a bucket! The food was excellent with the exception of the small paella chicken and chorizo which was bland and not really up to scratch as the rest was flavoursome. Highly recommended by moi but steer clear of the paella. Oh...and you have to park up the road and walk down as it's down an alley.
Roger — Google review
First time at a Spanish tapas restaurant. This was Eat As Much As You Like for £21.95. You order 2 plates each at a time and have to finish them in order to have more (so if you wanted chips or a salad on the side you couldn't as you had to eat them up first!). Ordered the paella which actually turned out to be microwaved Uncle Ben's rice with a piece of chicken thrown in. Nothing 'paella' about it. That was a turn off for me and didn't find the rest of the dishes particularly Spanish. The service was slow and I wasn't asked if I wanted another drink. The only plus side is that I got my money's worth, had 8 plates and left full. The staff didn't even say Thank you or Goodbye when I left. If you're looking for a Spanish restaurant that is traditional and authentic then you need to look elsewhere. I definitely shan't be back.

Service by a lovely gentleman. We were made to feel comfortable. Seating was bright , clean and vibrant. Food good and I really enjoyed my latte. Definitely recommend .

Usual pricing for tapas (overpriced in comparison to other cuisine), vegetarian dishes were tasty but meat dishes left more flavour to be desired for. Cocktails were a good size but require more alcohol to balance the taste. Staff were friendly and service was prompt, however I wasn’t dissatisfied to find an assumed 10% tip added to the bill in the form of a ‘service charge’.

We visited on a Monday Night, restaurant clean and well presented. We had the all you can eat tapas and there was lots of choice! All the tapas we ordered arrived fresh and hot - and we definitely got our moneys worth. The only downfall would be the staff. Although they kept up with cleaning tables and taking orders, I feel that they were quite rude and unfriendly, as if they didn’t like their job. Overall 3/5

This place is truly wonderful, we were served by Raz who was so friendly and gave us great recommendations, he is really excellent at his job. The sangria is delicious, we went for the all you can eat tapas, so much choice, very very yummy. I would say the San Miguel beef was tender but could do with more flavour, but the majority if dishes were superb and the service is incredible. Thanks again to the wonderful Raz who really makes the experience wonderful.

Meh is all I can say. I’ve been here twice now a few years apart and had a similar experience both times. Some of the staff weren’t trained, felt like there was one man doing most jobs. Decor isn’t really in keeping with the theme and the menu wasn’t explained. Tapas is probably the one time you’d appreciate a ‘have you been here before?’ Followed by a brief explanation. Would appreciate staff not disappearing / disengaging when no more service is required and you’d like to pay the bill. But this happens almost everywhere.

Lovely restaurant, however food is overpriced and average. Met for a business meal on a Tuesday early evening, 3 staff tried to take our dishes in the space of 5 minutes before we had finished, was asked if we wanted the bill and hadn’t even ordered our deserts.

Emilio's Italian restaurant offers a sophisticated setting with elegant tablecloths and a relaxed ambiance, serving delectable pizza, pasta, and traditional Roman dishes. This charming establishment prides itself on its authentic Italian cuisine that is both mouthwatering and satisfying. The dedicated waitstaff, particularly the young servers, exhibit exceptional commitment by providing attentive and helpful service to ensure an enjoyable dining experience.
First time here and not disappointed. Service and surrounding first class. Probably the best ever pizza maybe??? Also had a pasta starter which was also brilliant, generous portion but not overfilling. The crepes are petty special.

First time at Emilios, but won't be the last. The starters were superb and the main was out of this world. I had the Linguine with Prawns and smoke Salmon, absolutely gorgeous. All the other three people loved the food as much as I. I was the only one who didn't have a pud but the Crepes was excellent, coffee sublime and the Lemon Sorbet was to die for. What a place, we will be back.

Wet Wednesday table for 4. Had a calamari starter with a risotto main. Both were good, but no real "ah ha!" moment. To be honest, I feel the whole place and the menu is stuck somewhere in the past. Everything feels a bit tired somehow.

Beautiful authentic Italian. Delisiouse food and very nice atmosphere. The young waitresses/waiters work really hard and all staff and really attentive and helpful. First time my husband has been and had a lovely night catching up with friends, we will defo be returning.
Samantha Lord — Google review
My inaugural visit to Emilio's left a lasting impression, albeit not entirely favorable. On a Friday evening, accompanied by friends, we were warmly welcomed upon arrival and promptly escorted to our designated table. The menu was reasonably priced and exhibited a commendable quality relative to their cost, with ample portion sizes to satisfy our appetites. Regrettably, the evening took an unfavorable turn when, near to the end of our meal, I expressed the desire to have the leftovers of my dish packaged to bring home. To my dismay, before I could make such a request, our waitress, Trish (Patricia), abruptly seized the plate from my grasp and hastily departed, seemingly without notice. Promptly realizing the situation, I endeavored to clarify matters with another waitress in the vicinity. In a disheartening turn of events, Trish returned and, rather brusquely, informed her colleague that she had already disposed of the contents, casting unfounded blame in my direction. Notably, Trish neglected to offer any acknowledgment or apology, choosing instead to speak over me in conversation with the other waitress. Subsequently, she maintained a dismissive demeanor for the remainder of the evening, leaving an indelible mark of discourtesy. This lamentable encounter prompts me to reflect on the numerous adverse reviews this establishment has garnered, primarily stemming from subpar customer service. Trish's conduct, in particular, single-handedly marred what could have otherwise been an enjoyable dining experience. Regrettably, based on this unfortunate incident, we have resolved not to visit Emilio's in the future and cannot, in good conscience, recommend it to acquaintances. Despite the commendable quality of the cuisine, the overall experience was overshadowed by an extremely poor customer service.
Tan — Google review
Horrible hospitality and service from Trish. The meal itself was nice and the price point was fair. However, our lovely meal was unfortunately ruined due to horrendous service we received. Our waitress Trish was beyond obnoxious and ill mannered. In addition to being rude to us without any apology, she ignored me for the duration of our meal. On writing this review, I can see that I am not the only one who has experienced this. Looking at all of the negative reviews, the vast majority is due to the awful service. Overall, not worth your money. It's better off spent elsewhere.
