Great place to stay. Rooms clean with comfortable bed. Fantastic to wake up in the morning too harbour views. Great selection for breakfast. Food excellent. All the staff were great and very friendly and helpful. Thanks to very one at the Harbour Inn for a fantastic experience.

Really nice old fashioned pub, staff were nice. The food smelt good, didn't have the opportunity to eat here. Would suggest that having a hot chocolate isn't the best of ideas considering you pay twice as much for half the amount as Costa.

This is an amazing pub with friendly staff who have a wonderful smile and greet with respect. Big up to the new ones over the last year like Holly, Amy, Ivy plus the lads in there. Paul is a great person to serve. Situated by the inner harbour it has outside seating across the road and a pizza place so during warmer months enjoy the surroundings.

Had a really lovely stay here. Never been to Porthleven before as we normally stay in North Cornwall. Really easy to get to loads of places for walks and days out. Accommodation was very clean, comfortable and welcoming. Had a family room which was great as my teenage daughters had their own space and TV. All the staff were really friendly from to the minute we stepped through the door to the minute we left. Had a meal in the pub the first night which was great as were the cooked breakfast in the mornings. Would recommend as the whole of Porthleven is such a friendly, beautiful place. Will definitely be back.

We stayed here on our wedding night and the following night. We booked a sea view room which did not disappoint. We really loved the room, it was clean, modern, very comfortable, great bathroom and room amenities. Quality products used throughout. Breakfast was delicious and so much choice. View was perfect, we spent a lot of the time relaxing and people watching in the window. Staff really friendly and hellful when I made a mistake on our booking.

Wow this pub has just reopened after a huge revamp. The heart has been put back into this vintage pub with it's fantastic position sitting right on the harbour at Porthleven. The bedrooms have all been redesigned and refitted to a truly first class standard. The menu is excellent and the food is divine. The re is a secluded enclosed beer garden to the rear of the premises or you can choose to dine or eat in the garden right on the harbour. Fantastic range of real ales and lagers from St Austell Brewery. Staff all have a spring in their step and a smile on there faces. Lovely. Well worth a visit and a stay. Cornish hospitality at its best and a price you can afford.

Fantastic food, a lovely comfortable atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. I have visited here several times with different family members, and the menu has always had something for even the most fussiest of us, and always the food is delicious and of a high quality. Highly recommend a visit, but book beforehand so as not to be disappointed. This can be simply done online at anytime.

Perfect location. Lovely rooms. Good food. Great sundowner terrace. Also had some great live music thrown in for good measure.

Ate here twice, enjoyed our first holiday drink here, just such a lovely atmosphere. Food was lovely and well priced, had the seafood sharer between us which was more than enough food but so well done, and then market fish and mussels the next day because why not. Staff all really warm and welcoming. Just really good.

We have been to the Harbour Inn most evenings of this week and sat outside taking in the Harbour and sunny evenings, the seating area is expansive and the pop up bar outside as a great idea and also offers Pizza and Garlic Breads, all fantastic. Last night we treated ourselves to a meal inside the restaurant, ordered a main meal and busy chatting away didn't notice that there had been quite a long wait. The staff did notice though and were very apologetic and chased up the kitchen. Main meal of Fish and Chips and a Steak for the wife was well worth the wait, fantastic! The lovely staff then offered us the dessert for free as an apology for the delay for the main. Such a lovely venue, the food was very well prepared and tasty. All in all an excellent evening out and very much recommended.

Great Pub and Hotel situated right on the harbour. It has a large seating area right next to the harbour and a very good covered seating area at the rear. Staff were excellent, room was very well appointed and very clean. The menu and food was also excellent and sensibly priced.

These pics don’t do the food justice. 100% get yourself down The Square if you want some very tasty grub. I had the venison steak, medium rare. Absolutely beautiful. The salmon starter was delicious too. And took a pic of the wines I had which were solid. Especially the Vinho Verde. Great service to top it off.

So the location is top. And the idea of using the hillside as a viewing terrace is also great. I also have no problem ordering my own food and drinks at the bar. You can take the drinks yourself. The food is then brought to you at some point while you enjoy the great view of the bay. However, all three of us would not get full. My wife ordered mussels, and unfortunately there was nothing to go with them. A soup plate full of fresh, really tasty mussels. But after a day out, you're not finished with just a few mussels. Even our 8-year-old daughter complained after dinner that she was still hungry. What a pity. We asked the service if they really didn't serve anything with the mussels alone.... We really enjoy coming to The Ship when we are in Cornwall. On our recent visit it was very busy but we were able to find a seat by the window. Bar staff were very friendly. Great view from the window overlooking the harbour. It was high tide & we watched the waves crashing into the harbour walls even though it seemed a relatively calm day! Bet it's amazing to watch when it's a really stormy day/night!

Nice relaxed restaurant with varied menu and good harbour views. The small plates and Vietnamese style soups were our favourite. In my view the cheeseburger was pretty average. Needed some sort of side on the plate, coleslaw or pickles or a spicy salad.
Phil Coles — Google review
We had such a wonderful evening at Kota Kai. Relaxed and informal, but the food was exceptional. We enjoyed two small plates as starters to share, followed by a main each and a dessert to share - we were stuffed! Highly recommend the Kai Mojito, and soft shell crab bao bun - truly delicious! Thanks to all at Kota Kai

Great dinner. All dishes have a great spice side to them. Thai / South sea style to the cooking, using local produce. Oh and great cocktail drinks too.

Three of us had a meal last night and all were very impressed. The service was attentive but not intrusive. The ambience was lovely and the restaurant felt spacious and tastefully decorated. Great view. The Laksa was delicious. Would certainly recommend. Also, they had Doom zero which was a real bonus. Thank you.

We loved this place, lovely atmosphere, made to feel very welcome by all the staff we met. The food is outstanding, we even complimented the chefs as we left, as its a open kitchen. Really can't think of a down side?? Reasonable pricing on food & drinks.

Great sea view, even better food. Got to be worth a try. Had several dishes which we shared.

What can I say about this restaurant!! This has to be the best meal we have ever had from any restaurant. We are down on Honeymoon and decided to give it a go based on the head chefs reputation. We couldn't book in to Kota so they recommended Kota Kai instead. We were not disappointed. Every single mouthful from start to finish was amazing 😊 We left very full, the food portions were a good size and pleasantly surprised with the bill too! We both had 3 courses each, 1 oyster each and 5 alcoholic drinks between us and it came to £99.30. Would 1million percent recommend this place and we will be back next time we are down here.
Becky Smith — Google review
I had a mixed feeling about this place but overall we were underwhelmed. I don’t want to give it 3 stars because the place was clean and the staff were very friendly but it’s definitely not 4 stars. Can I give it 3.5 lol. I went with my Japanese wife as I had promised to take her somewhere that served sushi. After being seated at the only table facing a wall instead of all those lovely windows with a view we were told that sushi was off the menu as they didn’t make enough the night before. Did she realise what she said or did I get something wrong? It should be made fresh that day. Anyhow I was determined to enjoy it and we ordered a whole bunch of small plates and some where great, some where average and nothing was bad. Seared Tuna… Amazing, Mussels (lemongrass) pretty good. Scallops and Squid where average. Soft Shell Crab bun pretty good too. Skipped the dessert menu and had an ice cream outside instead. Presentation was good and price was very reasonable. It was a mixed bag. Glad I tried it and will give the main restaurant a try in future but won’t be back here.

Lovely beach and worth a visit whilst you are in Porthleven! Beach is quite big so plenty of space and beautiful views. Rocks to climb around on too. Easy to get down on the beach. There's a ramp which has a few steps so worth noting if you have a pushchair or you are disabled. Attached some pictures.
Holly O'Sullivan — Google review
It's a very beautiful beach with both sand and rocks around the edges. However, it's easy to miss the entrance to the parking when coming from uphill so drive slowly. Parking is only £2 for the entire day and to buy a ticket, just walk into the cafe and ask. People are very friendly and it's nice to walk on during low tide, just beware not to go wandering out when the tide is coming in for it's easy to get stuck on the rocks / in the cave or even on a sandbank (the far left of the beach near the waterline if you're facing outwards). By the side of the cafe, there's steps that lead up to a nice walking trail, just be sure to wear appropriate footwear!
??? — Google review
Beautiful long beach but steeply shelved so not ideal for children when the tide is higher.
Jo Kenny — Google review
One of our favourite local beaches . Beauitful views spectacular storms and quaint unspoiled harbour. Absolutely stunning throughout all seasons. Beautiful old clock tower. Iconic cornwall at its best. Plenty of little independant shops limited parking along the harbour. Some of my fav cafes and eateries here. Local Art work, seasalt merchandise crafts galleries fish shop & a couple of nice restaurants. Bus stops spa supermarket boots chemist takeaways cream teas fish and chips all one needs. Very popular with tourists. Gets very busy and crowded. Parking is tricky. Lovely ice creams served in several places. Narrow roads.
Chrissie Manfredi — Google review
Beautiful long stretch of beach to wonder. The stones and pebbles are so so smooth! Some great finds
Zoe Attenborough — Google review
Really quite good. The beach is located close to the shops, cafés, pubs, and restaurants around the harbour so it's easy to walk back for food or a drink then return to the beach later. Access is via a slope or staircase from the road above, the stairs are fairly steep; however, the slope has a fine layer of sand over it and is slippery. The sand is actually fine shingle so great for relaxing on but not for sand castle building etc. The beach almost completely disappears at high tide. The beach at high tide slopes gently into the sea; however, it has a number of small steps in it meaning that at low tide it gets deep very quickly, it is lifeguard patrolled and so long as you follow their advice it's safe to swim. There's definitely 'prettier' beaches in Cornwall but Porthleven beach is hardly ugly and definitely worth going to.
Barry Eggleton — Google review
Small but good beach there are people with dogs walking on beach, excellent for short breaks not much parking spaces
Sofia Hussain — Google review
Lovely place, friendly locals. Beautiful old harbour. Plenty of ice cream shops and drinking stops. Stunning photography for sale from local artist. Most of all beautiful scenery. Not a place to go if you are after hustle and bustle or extensive shopping. Parking is a little tricky too, expect some walking but that is a part of the joy of exploring the place.
C Smith — Google review
Just love Portleven. Great beach with, at times, spectacular stormy seas. Has a pier at the end of the harbour wall at the entrance to the harbour. The village is idyllic with many fantastic restaurants, cafes and gift shops. Cornwall at it's best here. We visit year after year and Porthleven will always be our favourite holiday destination in the UK.
James Brewster — Google review
Well worth visiting. At the moment you have to eat outside but the food is good at the cafe's. The walks are breathtaking worth while ( coastal ). The people there are very nice too. The bus U4 runs hourly til 5pm from Falmouth to Penzance and back, passing through Porthleven.

Nice relaxed restaurant with varied menu and good harbour views. The small plates and Vietnamese style soups were our favourite. In my view the cheeseburger was pretty average. Needed some sort of side on the plate, coleslaw or pickles or a spicy salad.

Wow, fantastic place, great atmosphere, fabulous food & helpful staff. Very busy for a Wednesday night in December, would suggest booking. Stunning views of the harbour. Looking forward to going again

The food was gorgeous. My kids finished all their food. Our Laksa was delicious. This is the third time we've been since it has opened, and it is still somewhere we couldn't visit Cornwall without having a meal there. Highly recommend it.

Delicious food with some great vegetarian options. The Katsu aubergine was delicious, and the staff were friendly and attentive - thanks!

Top grub. Laksa was decent, fish and chips was a healthy portion, and the cauliflower starter was banging. Couple of good beers on tap too.

Kota Restaurant, a Cornish-Asian eatery in Porthleven, offers a unique dining experience with two smart en suite B&B rooms. With stunning harbour views, this restaurant stands out as one of the few acclaimed pan-Asian/Kiwi establishments in Cornwall. Led by chef Jude Kereama, Kota combines fresh local seafood with Asian flavors resulting in dishes like oysters served with cucumber and rice wine granita or fried hake accompanied by crab raviolo and dashi.
Probably one of the best meals I have ever had. The natural oysters were beautiful, such a punch of flavour. We had the three course menu but got one of everything so that we could try it all, and it didn't disappoint. The beef starter and the natural oysters were a star! The pork and hake mains were incredible, I wish we could eat it again and again.

A really special place. Lovely food, primarily of course fish / seafood based but there are alternatives which can be interchanged within the menus. Personally I'd go for the 4 course menu rather than the 6 course. Very good wine choices and should you not be driving then the wine flight would be very tempting. Looking forward to being able to visit in 2023

With advanced notice Kota were able to prepare a vegetarian and coeliac/gluten free tasting menu for me which was delicious. Really tasty courses and interesting flavours. My friends had the ‘normal’ tasting menu and were also very impressed with their food. Thank you!

I had a wonderful evening at Kota, we had the 6 course tasting menu (plus amuse bouche and petit fours). The whole experience was just fantastic - every mouthful was delicious, the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, the staff really attentive and polite. I've already booked to go back for my birthday!

Went there for a late valentines night. Enjoyed the 6 taster meal it was the best meal ever. We booked a room, and it was smashing. The breakfast in the sister restaurant was just as good. The staff members were brilliant, and their service was excellent.

Tried the tasting menu on the first night open this year. A few teething problems with service, including long delays between some courses, but great interesting food and a nice atmosphere. I particularly loved the pear course.

Some of the best food in Cornwall. The taster menu is to die for, and all staff understand the menu. They explain the flavours and wine choice if you've gone for that too. A little on the pricy side, but well worth the extra expense. Restaurant is cosy, warm and welcoming.

Nice tasting menu experience, 1st time in Kota Restaurant. It was a great value vs served food, its quality, service and overall ambiance. Personally I did not enjoy their dessert but it is all very personal. Great seafood quality, amazing snacks and fresh GF bread was a nice addition. I think the interior is lacking some “warm cosy” touch but probably it feels different in hot summer time. I e visited early March when it was cold outside.

Went in for a tasting menu (6 course) with one of us having the vegetarian option, and one the meat options. The dishes were well presented and interesting. The beetroot and nettlecurd dish felt a little out of place as it's so sweet compared to the rest, and I can't help feeling it would have made a better dessert than mid-menu dish. We shared one wine pairing, which was a little heavily leaned on whites for my taste and only one red served with a chicken dish which was an odd combination but nicely managed. Overall a really lovely experience, and the service was great especially as we were amongst the last tables left in the restaurant. I will note that the tasting menu is longer than expected, we found ourselves there for nigh on 3 hours.

We had the 6-course tasting menu with paired wines and it’s certainly one of the best food experiences I have had. The dishes were creative, tasty, filling, and amazingly presented, and the wines were out of this world, but the staff and restaurant are friendly and not at al pretentious. It’s not cheap at £120 all-in for the 6 courses and paired wines, but fully worth it for an incredible food experience.

An impromptu visit to Kota! As we arrived in Porthleven the heavens opened and we dashed for the nearest cover which happened to be Kota. It was lunchtime so the decision was made to have something to eat while we waited for the rain to subside. What a great find. The choice of food was not mainstream and all the dishes we tried were impeccably presented and had to be some of the best food I've had for sometime. Some may find it a little pretentious with their £35 bottles of wine! I opted for Doom Bar ☺️. We tried six dishes and the total bill with drinks came to £56. It was a great dining experience and when we are back in the area we will definitely call in again.

We always love to visit Kota when we are down here and booked for Saturday lunch. We were rather disappointed that there was no set menu on offer, it was Small Plates or nothing. There was no mention on the website that this is all that was offered at lunch time otherwise we probably wouldn’t have bothered. However, we had 3 small plates each which were all absolutely delicious although they came out at varying times so we weren’t always eating together. We followed them with the Baked Cheese which was also very delicious. The service we felt was not up to the usual standard, at one time we were left without a fork and couldn’t get the waitresses attention for love nor money so had to just pinch one from another table. We were sufficiently full when we left but would probably still not choose the Small Plates option. We still managed to spend about £112 for 2 people. A little disappointed that it was not made clear on the website.

We had a fantastic meal here last night. The food was superb. We had the six course tasting menu and each dish was unusual and packed with flavour. Local produce was used and we left very happy. Would definitely return.

We didn't stay overnight so can't rate the rooms. Our first experience "fine dining". We had the 6 course taster menu, I wasn't bothered about the 6, but whatever menu you have, you both have to have. There wasn't an "atmosphere", it was that cold in there I wore my jacket the whole time. My wife and myself felt awkward, but I think that's more a us thing than the place. The food was nicely presented, and what was there had plenty of flavour. But it's literally 4stars from me due to no atmosphere and most of the other customers appeared unhappy just in life lol they do say money doesn't buy you happiness

Delicious. We travelled 500miles to sample the food of Jude Kereama, and it was worth the trip. Well worth it. I would have loved to have met him but alas, the food was the point 😊 Amazing service, great wine, great rooms and a great welcome.

Fantastic food. We had the four course tasting menu and everything on it was superb. Delightful staff who never missed a beat and an excellent location at the head of the harbour.

Amélie is a popular seafood restaurant located by the quay, offering locally sourced fish and shellfish. The establishment has a wood-fired oven where they prepare their menu items, which includes burgers and grills as well. The restaurant occupies an old smokehouse with window-seats that overlook the harbor, providing a picturesque dining experience. Amélie takes pride in its food, ensuring that all ingredients are obtained within a 25-mile radius.
Absolutely beautiful location, matched by beautifully fresh, delicious food! The oysters were outstanding, the lemon sole special I had for a main was fresh and full of flavour and my daughter actually ate all of her fish, chips and peas (except the bit of fish I tasted, and even that was fresh and delicious!). Very welcoming for myself and my toddler as well as a few pups who were visiting on the day. Highly recommend and already look forward to going back again!

Lovely restaurant in Porthleven serving Italian food with a Cornish seafood twist. The seafood linguine was standout, mackerel starter also very good. We went in the off-season and it was still busy so it’s well worth booking ahead. Porthleven harbour looked great at nighttime, lit up with multicolour lights. Couple of things letting it down from 5 stars: one main was a little cold when it came out and the atmosphere could have done with a bit of something.

Change of management since we last dined here a couple of years ago, and it shows: it has vastly improved. Attentive, prompt and friendly service. Delicious food, well cooked and beautifully presented. We sat in the conservatory overlooking the harbour. Our little dog was welcome too. We hope to return.

Very tasty food. Nice friendly staff and a great location in the harbour. Sunday roast is very nice and seafood is fresh and cooked to perfection. Leave room for the desserts. Highly recommended and we will return.

We had our wedding reception at Amelia's and it was the most amazing evening we could ever have asked for. The venue was decorated beautifully (as well as the incredible location) and the staff took so much time to listen and support us through the whole process. We tried all of our dishes before hand, and we loved every single one, especially that the food and drink has such a local feel. Every single guest was so so impressed by the food - which was brought out quickly and tasted absolutely amazing! The service was second to none, and we are so grateful to every single person at Amelie's who made everything come together. Would recommend it to anyone, and will always hold a special place in our hearts! Thank you so much

A warm and friendly approach from original booking to the conclusion of the meal. We were all made to feel very welcome including the dogs. The staff were amazing and very efficient. The food was delightful, served promptly and hot. As we were celebrating my mothers birthday they ensured her desert had Happy Birthday written on it and all the staff sang to her. Later on I received a phone call from the restaurant to inform me I had been overcharged. I was asked to check the bill but hadn’t but they ensured I was contacted and reimbursed. Whilst waiting in the restaurant and speaking with the team there, it was explained why there had been a slight delay on the deserts. It had been down to the team getting the wording correctly. Quality mattered and the presentation important. I believe this says a lot about a high quality establishment.

We went there on Saturday evening to celebrate our wedding anniversary, big disappointment, very salty mackerel pate, fish pieces dry from being over fried, small pizza ordered which came like the toppings had been served on a poppadom, overall presentation very poor. We didn't complain because we didn't want our evening completely ruined, we will go somewhere else and celebrate our wedding anniversary again as it was one of the big ones . We did tell the waitress we were bitterly disappointed, but only when she asked if everything was okay when we paid the bill. We noticed her telling the manager as we were leaving, but he didn't approach or stop us .

A lovely Sunday Lunch , window table so the superb view made up for the slightly slow service ( not an issue ). Sirloin beef was perfect as was the belly pork , lovely roasted vegetable, Yorkshire Pud and roast potatoes. Failed badly on the crackling! but really was an excellent meal in a lovely setting .

Difficult one to review. Not quite as good as ones like the nearby The Square, but a little cheaper so that's fair. The food looked lovely, not just ours but every plate that came out. Staff were friendly and professional. Portion sizes were decent and the freshness of the food was evident. I would have liked a crispier batter on our fritto misto, it was a bit..soggy, but other than that the food was very good. A few things bring it down from 5 stars in my opinion. It took a few minutes for anyone, including us, to be welcomed as the albeit pleasant waitresses seem to rely heavily on one lovely member of staff. She was onto everything, but seemed rushed off her feet. We weren't offered the nice window seats despite these being available, it seemed that those who knew the staff got priority, but maybe its just bad luck. Dogs were welcome here, they surrounded us. We like dogs, I love them, but at a nice restaurant I'm not a fan. Nowhere on the website does it make it clear this is a dog friendly restaurant. Lots of customers feeding them from their plates next to us, it just spoils the atmosphere a little. It's not a country pub. Not big issues, but not 5 stars either. Worth a look in spite of them, this has a lot to recommend it.

We had a wonderful evening meal here and were made very welcome by staff. Willow the dog was welcome too. Food was amazing, especially the Porthleven fish dish, (halibut) melt in the mouth, surf and turf was excellent, along with the pizza and risotto. Smokey honey and chilli roasted nuts was a great little starter. Topping out with the Maraschino cherry, white chocolate and pistachio cheesecake was just amazing. Loved it all, thanks to the staff again and hence our 5* recommendation to others.
