Modern European restaurant
McGoverns Restaurant in Malahide, Dublin is a remarkable establishment that I highly endorse. The fish and chips offered are precisely what one would expect - the fish is fresh with a crispy batter, and the chunky chips are delightful. This casual eatery, located on The Diamond in Malahide, provides both a family-friendly ambiance and outdoor seating for those fortunate enough to enjoy good weather. Not only is the food fantastic, but the wine selection is also top-notch.
Could not recommend this restaurant enough! Food is delicious, excellent value but its the staff that makes this place so special. We brought our toddler and couldn't have been more welcomed and accommodated. We returned with our newborn in his pram again the staff went above and beyond despite the restaurant being at capacity with every age of customer well looked after. Even with so much choice in Malahide McGoverns is a firm favourite.

Great place, with super nice positive staff! Food lovelty, especially the blue cheese dip!! Stacey made me feel like i was a regular customer and not just a one time tourist!

Staff friendly and attentive but food has gotten expensive. 30euro for 10 ounce steak and 8.95 for small desert. Would have given 4 stars in the past. Lunch menu is cheaper!

We went there for an evening meal. We didn't have a starter but then waited ages for our main course to be served which was ok. I had a Rhubarb fool for dessert which was amazing. Overall I wasn't really impressed.

Delicious food. It was busy and it was a long wait for food but worth it. Fresh yummy food. Sides were delicious too. Spicy tagliatelle had a good kick to it. Mexican burger was massive and meat well cooked. Dessert 5/5. Will definitely come back

Pros : extremely good service for 4 people out food was out in around 15 minutes of ordering, nice staff, nice food. Cons: it was quite warm inside, fairly small portion.

We arrived on spec on a Friday night and were accommodated by helpful, friendly staff with a table for three. We had two starters: pear and serrano salad and chili prawns, one as excellent as the other. Our mains were two burgers and mussels, on the menu as a starter but happily converted into a main for my crustacean-loving companion. Our desserts were ice cream trio and we shared a rhubarb fool. We drank on pint of Guinness and a lovely bottle of Rioja. The bill, rounded up with a tip was €150. This was great value for excellent tasty food, well-presented but the icing on the cake was the staff.

Amazing food and service. The restaurant was busy but we have received our food very quickly.

Went here for lunch with my mam today and we both ordered sea food chowder. I was enjoying my dish until about half way through I found a hair in the bowl (through a piece of carrot). I didn't want to cause a scene so pushed the bowl to one side and decided to quietly inform one of the staff when they came to check on us, as is normal in most establishments. Not the case here, 30 minutes went by before someone came over. I explained about the hair and said I'd just have a latte as I'd lost my appetite, my mam said she'd have one too. Another 30 mins passed and the staff member came back with one latte and a snide comment about how the hair couldn't have come from their kitchen as all the staff in there have short hair. He said maybe it had come from the ceiling which didn't make any sense. I pointed out regardless of where it had come from it was their responsibility as it was in my food. He said no it wasn't and that I'd eaten half the bowl anyway. I asked for the bill and sure enough I was charged for both sea food chowders. I asked for the manageress who had stood with her back to us the whole time. She was no better, she brought the bowl back out and I was able to lift the hair out with the carrot hanging from it. She reiterated that it couldn't be their staff as they have short hair. The absolute rudeness and disrespect of the manageress and male staff member who I think was Brazilian was astounding. I paid the bill minus my chowder and left the restaurant. As my mam got up to go she said to the staff member that his attitude was terrible and his parting words were 'sure she has a full belly and she had a nice coffee' I'm not sure where this family run restaurant get their staff but they were unprofessional and rude!!

What a fabuluous steakhouse, smack bang in the middle of Malahide. Staff are so welcoming and friendly and the food, atmosphere and ambience made the evening a memorable experience. Hats off to all the waiting staff who were fun, efficient and well able for our banter. Special mention for Leah who was a breath of fresh air - hold on to her!!! We'll be back!

Starters were nice, but my main course was somewhat spoiled. I ordered the seafood tagliatelle, which is prawns, muscles, and crab in a creamy herb sauce. The only issue was there was zero crab meat, explained this to the waitress. She checked with the chef as she thought it was in the sauce. She came back with cold, shredded crab meat in a bowl and said there should be some mixed with the sauce! If they just said they forgot and cut something off the bill, I would have been happier than getting handed a cold bowl of crab meat and finishing the dish myself!

Nice food , pleasant waitress but what really got me was the staff member sitting near us with her phone on full blast watching something. We asked her to turn it down politely , she was very rude and totally unprofessional . I actually think she was the manager as she was wearing different clothes than the other staff . She continued to listen to her phone , blowing her nose constantly. She was extremely rude an unprofessional. We will not be returning . Shame I always like mc governs and Ps our waitress was nice and professional

Definitely will be going back here. From start to finish really enjoyed the experience. Friendly and welcoming staff but most importantly the food was to die for!! Not to mention the cocktails!! Great choice on the menu and will not be disappointed with whatever you chose

One of the best places in Malahide. Clear to see high quality ingredients used to make delicious food. Staff were so friendly and attentive. Excellent value too! Definitely one to try again

Good place for celebrating a special occasion, (this place is on the expensive side). Food was very nice, we had two different starters and 3 main courses to try different things. The tuna starter and the duck main were amazing, however the steak left a lot to be desired, considered it was 39€. We got all 3 desserts, they were ok, but none were that great. Portions are on the smaller side, but beautifully plated. The service was really great. We did not order any wine, only 1 beer, but the main, a mini dessert each and a starter to share came to more or less €50 per person.

Fresh food, good place, large portions and great service. Nothing to add, just enjoy. Wine are quite expensive

My favourite is always the fish as its fresh on the doorstep. The wines and coctails are always a must . Especially at Christmas time . The Decorations are beautiful this time of year . Thanks guys xxx Great night

Got gambas, sausages, ravioli (a bit hard pasta either dry dough or egg whites where used, also need attention with shapes), lamb of rack (excellent) and 2 deserts (raspberry and blackcurrant). Quick and great service and nice food. Would be back)

Went here for a meal with my family after looking at the reviews online. The food was good but not worth the price point. All of the deserts came out dish the size of a double shot glass which was surprisingly small. The quality of the food was good but disappointing portion sizes even after 3 courses (not even on the set menu). Would maybe recommend for lunch but not for an evening meal.

We got the chicken supreme and steamed hake as the main course. Delicious food, good wine list, friendly staff, nice atmosphere, only a bit too loud.

Absolutely love to this restaurant! As an American I just wanted to really good steak a lot of the restaurants said they couldn’t even get me in for hours but this place went above and beyond they didn’t even have the ribeye on the menu, but they checked with the butcher and made it very accommodating so I can get a steak. The food was amazing. The drinks were perfect on the service was five stars. I will definitely come back to this restaurant when I come back to Ireland and I will bring my family here! thank you guys so much made everything perfect

This is the second time that we have been to this restaurant. First time was excellent. This time 2 of us decided to have the pasta. It arrived with a dry piece of chicken on a plate on the side that was overcooked. I thought it was bread. The pasta itself had no flavour was rubbery and hardly any sauce. Disappointed. The price at €29 was ridiculous . The 2 who had steaks were excellent. Wine was excellent but overpriced in our opinion. Desserts were fair but nothing to write home about. Staff are excellent. Atmosphere great.

Has to be Malahide’s top restaurant. The restaurant has been opened in a refurbished building and the decor is modern and very tasteful. The food is excellent and the service friendly and efficient. We visited on Friday lunchtime, it was quiet and relaxing. I had mussels and my wife the calamari with hummus as a starter. The wine list is extensive and we had a nice bottle of Verdecio.

Great brunch spot on the street parallel to the main street in Malahide. It's not huge, so book a table when it's busy. They have a small seating area outside also. We arrived on Easter Monday and we were lucky to get a seat outside. The food took a while to come out but was excellent. The service was good, I'll be back!

The place is too tiny; it's not recommended for families w/baby. There is no space for a trolly baby. The food was good; the coffee was cold, and there were few options for vegetable milk.

Food was very nice. Staff very friendly. Chicken ceasar salad and poached egg with smoked salmon delicious. But the pasta should be seasoned more with salt and pepper. the chorizo in the was not the best.. Taste like normal sausage.

We loved the concept of this place with its all day breakfast. We particularly enjoyed the “choose your own breakfast plate”. The food was excellent as was the service. It was lovely to see so many families there and being welcomed. We will definitely go again.

***AVOID!!!*** DO NOT GO TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT IF YOU KNOW WHAT A REAL POACHED EGG LOOKS AND TASTES LIKE!!! Service was terrible - the girl forgot to input our order and came over 20 minutes later to ask it again (she didn’t even bring the menu with her for us to check… rude). Food SUCKS- poached eggs are badly done and not poached at all (we had 6 eggs all looking the same). And the whole plate itself doesn’t properly amount to a brunch at all. I asked to have the salmon replaced for cooked ham, but the waitress gave me COOKED Serrano ham… NOT what I asked. Careful with cooking regulations here!!! If you have a kitchen that’s visible for ALL guests eating in, then make sure your “chefs” are actually wearing masks and covering their mouths and noses. Otherwise send that person packing. EXTREMELY UNDERWHELMING FOR THE RAVING REVIEWS IT HAS. AVOID!!!

A cosy local breakfast joint serving amazing dishes! A shoutout to the tastiest scones we have ever tasted! Looks really hard on the outside but it was extremely buttery on the inside - had to get another one the next day before we left malahide. Very tasty breakfast foods with super friendly service crew!

Arrived at 11am on a Saturday morning and was expecting it to be wedged but surprisingly it wasn't and there was space for 4 of us including a pram. The food was very tasty and decently priced. Service was friendly. Menu was good and had a couple of veggie options. Half an hour later and the placed was busy with a queue formed outside. They have outdoor seating too but not a whole lot. Only one unisex toilet.

A very nice cafe and good ambience. The food and coffee is awesome 👌. They also have make your own plate where you can select what you want to put in plate and can customize your food 😋

Hard to enjoy food when the place is literally filthy. Mucky floors, manky tea towels and staff who don’t even speak to each other, clanging dishes so loud it’s awkward. The cutlery is stored a few inches away from the dirty floor. Used to come here often, sad to see it go downhill.

Was lucky to get in with three kids for Sat morning breakfast and the food was really good. Kids had pancakes while I had a full Irish all of which was thoroughly enjoyed. One small note though, there is no kids menu or portions. While my lot are ok with freshly squeezed orange it might not be for all smallies… nice spot and will be back.

It is highly regarded as one of the best Italian-themed dining establishments in the area. The ambiance is delightful and vibrant, catering to individuals of all ages, including children, parents, and grandparents. There is an evident youthful energy that permeates the atmosphere. We had a lunch here on a Sunday, and we found the food being absolutely amazing!! We had different dishes of pasta with seafood, chicken wings, Gluten free pizza, different deserts etc. The service was excellent, and the staff was super friendly, especially with the kids. We really enjoyed the experience and food at this restaurant. We will definitely come back!

Lovely authentic Italian restaurant with the typical flair & atmosphere. Huge variety of pasta and pizza, a few starts and couple of mains - chicken wings and fish & chips are not necessarily Italian but in Ireland I guess you have to have these one the menu to survive 😀. Aperol Spritz has been generous, refreshing and delicious; our starters being calamari fritti and steamed mussels were tasty and a good portion size for a starter. As main we went for the Greek salad and added some chicken, had the garlic bread pizza (which came with cheese , what we didn't order, but was actually quite good) and sweet potato Fries. Fries had been crispy and sweet and salty - how it should be and actually one rarely gets. Salad was really good, very fresh, nicely arranged and one could tell it was good quality. Though the dressing was lacking, so we had to order balsamic vinegar, and we got some balsamic sweet cream, which was nice, the only balsamic they had but not what we really wanted. Anyhow, I will be back and try one of these lovely looking, mouthwatering smelling pasta dishes other guests had. They also do daily specials so it can't get boring 😄

Probably one of the best Italian-themed dining experiences in Malahide. Lovely, lively atmosphere. Very popular with children, parents and grandparents alike, but there is definitely a young, happy vibe about this place. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Food tastes authentic and delicious, and options are reasonably priced. Best value is the early bird menu from 4pm to 6pm everyday with a two-course meal costing 20 euro. Wide selection of à la carte and specials on offer. A great experience overall. Highly recommended.

I wanted to find a cute place to eat dinner with my friends and I do not regret picking this restaurant! Inside, it definitely doesn’t feel like you’re in Dublin, the vibes and decorations are set to make you feel like you are in a cosy Italian restaurant. The food does not disappoint, the portions are big and there are options for vegetarians! The staff are very kind and polite. The place is quite small in my opinion but it feels very intimate and cosy. The prices here I feel are quite reasonable considering it’s high quality food. It is a lovely place to dine in.

My God Son celebrated his 21st here with a meal. I've never been here and was really impressed. I'm not a foodie and will not be precocious and pretend that the calamari was under cooked or over cooked or that the risotto could have done with a few minutes more and all that nonsense. All I know about good food is that it's is really good or really bad. The food in That's Amore is really, really good. And I'll say one thing though don't go for pizza try something new you won't be disappointed by the the the Pizza is really good too. Staff are lovely and ate very much part of the ambience. I'm going again real soon. I don't take pictures of food that really annoys me when people do that besides the food was soon good we didn't even talk until we were finished. So here's a picture of my dog Teddy.

Enjoyed a fantastic meal with my family and friends. Food was so fresh and steaks tender like butter. High recommended 5 stars. My favourite restaurant. It has been a few years since we last had a meal due to covid. But will be regulars from now on.

I was really looking forward to trying this restaurant after living in malahide for over a year. We ordered the baby ribs, wings and goats cheese for starters. The winged were decent, the ribs were well cooked how however the sauce definitely came from a bottle, the goats cheese felt like it came from a frozen packet! For mains we ordered the chicken wrapped in bacon, chicken jambalaya and the seafood linguine. The chicken and back wrap had the texture of a bouncy ball, the jambalaya and the linguine had obviously came from two late over heated pots and most definitely not freshly cooked. Most definitely the worst meal we have had in malahide in year. Don’t be fooled by the reasonably priced wine, it was just as bad. Stay away!

I came here with my aunt, uncle, dad and cousin for a birthday dinner and the food was the best thing I’ve ever eaten it’s a pity I don’t live in malahide the mushroom and thyme soup was out of this world and the Irish fillet steak was just magical. 10/10 would love to come again.

On our first visit to Dublin 5 years ago, we didn't manage to get a table there; this time we did 😊 We're happy with our choice & we really enjoyed it. As per photos, we had duck roll & seafood chowder as starters followed by Jambalaya & Black Angus burger (with bacon, tomato, cheddar). Reservation is highly recommended 😉

Very nice restaurant in the centre of Malahide village. The food and service was excellent. The only thing to be careful with are the stairs leading up to the restaurant. They are quite steep but there are railings to hold onto either side of the stairs. I would certainly recommend eating here.

Wouldn't recommend this place again never normally critize restaurants but need to leave this comment. The waiter was very rude and he was impatient. It's a cosy, proper cook food. I was impressed with the restaurant decoration and layout. It gave me a warm welcome straight away when I stepped in. The staff were professional and friendly. We went straight to main with rib eye steak and smoked chicken linguine with broccoli and green bean. Steak cooked to perfection and the linguine was delicious. We finished with their special yum fruit trifle which was creamy but light. Great food.

Myself and my husband decided to have dinner out and just happened on this place. We had no booking but she accommodated us with a table. The food was really fresh and wonderful. The staff were very friendly. The place is small but the decor makes it look bigger. The only thing that let me down was the dessert. The description of what it was on the menu was not what I got but it was still nice.
