Sights & Landmarks
Menai Suspension Bridge, built by Thomas Telford in 1826, is a historic road crossing with a pedestrian walkway that offers stunning views of the Menai Strait. Before the construction of the Expressway, it was the only route to access Anglesey by road. The bridge's impressive architecture and its significance as the first major suspension bridge of its kind make it a must-see attraction.
Wanted to visit for some time, not disappointed despite awful windy weather. A beautiful bridge with fantastic views. We drove over and parked next to pub on mainland side. We'll worth a visit folks.
chris Fostinis — Google review
From somebody who loves bridges this superb piece of engineering has it all, beautiful stone arches and supports cantilevered suspension steel chain all riveted by men using hand tools shows a perfect example The views up and down are wonderful, out over the straights is just as spectacular we were lucky to have a clear day just as the sun was setting, nice walk over in each direction. There is a nice pub on each side both serve good food and drink so a couple of hours soon pass
T Smith — Google review
Nice short walk over the bridge and back. Amazing views. You can also stroll along the Belgian Promenade and wander across to Church Island.
Dimples S — Google review
The Menai Suspension Bridge in Bangor is a remarkable engineering feat and a must-visit attraction. Designed by Thomas Telford and opened in 1826, this bridge is a stunning blend of stone towers and iron chains. Its elegant design and attention to detail will leave you mesmerized. It is a Good Place to spend your evening with your family, especially on the long Summer days .
Junaid Tahir — Google review
A majestic construction and one of the best bridges I have ever seen in the UK. The surrounding area is beautiful as well and worth a walk while enjoying the view of the bridge.
Paul C — Google review
Lovely place to go for an evening walk. The view from the bridge is breathtaking. When I visited there was a bit of fog while the sun was setting. Really dramatic. The view turned out to be better than I expected. Must visit if you are nearby.
Emran Jamal — Google review
Great walk around a very scenic bridge and location. Worth walking along the coastal path from the bridge to the church.
Samuel Wesson — Google review
An impressive and beautiful bridge. We drove on it few times during our trip and the view is stunning. But I suggest to have a walk by the water to admire it from outside. It’s a really nice spot for some pictures.
Melanie Mengüs — Google review
The Menai Suspension Bridge is simply stunning. It spans the Menai straits from the main land over to Anglesey. Its not without its problems though, currently it is under going some re strengthening work due to a lack of maintenance over the years, so extra supports have been put in place. It's going to be one lane only with traffic control inplace untill 2025, then hopefully she will be back to her full glory. If your planning a holiday to Anglesey or the near by area don't let this put you off, she still looks magnificent and is well worth a visit. You can see the bridge from a different view when you go on one of the local walks that takes you underneath the structure, this gives you a sense of her size from a different angle and an appreciation as to how she was constructed all those year back by Thomas Telford. Photo credits to Anglesey Boy.

The Menai suspension bridge brings you between North Wales and the peninsula of Anglesey. You can walk around this historic site on healthy trail. Just park your car at the nearby Waitrose. The trail even leads you to the new bridge within eyesight.
J N — Google review
There is a good chance you will cross Menai Bridge by car if you’re going to Anglesey. But I really recommend to stop at a nearby car park and make a small walk around. It’s a stunning bridge with the nature around.

Sights & Landmarks
Penmon Point, located in the southeastern part of Anglesey, is a picturesque and highly recommended destination on the island. Accessible via a toll road, this captivating spot offers a delightful pebble beach with panoramic vistas of Puffin Island and the North Wales coastline. Its main highlight is the remarkable Trwyn Du Lighthouse, positioned on an outcrop just off the shore.
This is a fabulous place to visit, dogs are welcome. Stunning views and on a clear day you can see Llandudno from here. As the sun sets the colours of the mountains are amazing. Great little cafe with two dogs that came to play on the beach with me playing fetch. The beach is pebbles not sand but still lovely. Cost £3.50 to get to it but we'll worth it.
Denise Cadwallader — Google review
Excellent trip to Penmon and see the lighthouse from afar. Was amazing to be near the sea, listening to the waves. Lots of smooth surfaced pebbles everywhere. Some surfers were out braving the waves. Definitely worth a visit. A little cafe is nearby where you purchase food and drink. Parking is just outside the cafe too.
Monwara — Google review
An amazing place to visit. For a stone beach it is still very pretty. Great views of the lighthouse & could see as far as Llandudno & Llanfairfechan. Only paid £3.50 to drive down the road to the car park. It was definitely worth it for the views. I would definitely go again.
Caleb B Corr — Google review
My first time visiting this place and I'm in love....how I've never been here before! We stayed and sat on the pebbles to watch the sunset....very romantic! Can't wait to come visiting again very soon!
Kelly Roberts — Google review
Fabulous stop off in the campervan. Had to pay £7.50 toll to get to it, different charges for different vehicles. Lovely cafe nearby too. Leave no trace.
LauraGrace Roaming Hind — Google review
Nice little light house. Worth a visit. Couple of footpaths nearby but a bit boggy with the rubbish weather. We could hear the birds on the island. Not bad for a few quid. Didn't try the cafe but bet its handy. Saw a rainbow in the distance.
Caroline Layton — Google review
Fantastic place been visiting here since a child. Small toll road to get to end. However we'll worth it. Could spend all day or just a short time choice is yours. Can get extremely busy in peak season and if weather is good. Small cafe at the end of the toll road with parking facilities. Just before paying for toll charge great to park up and look at the old monsitry and church sometimes it's open to go inside. Definitely we'll worth a visit if over in Wales. Toll was £3.50 but assuming this keep for the up keep we'll worth it. Can get windy but great views and great place to just watch the world go by.
Simon Catterall — Google review
What a beautiful place! It really feels like you're sitting on the end of the world here. We visited when the tide was just starting to go out so could chamber across the rocks to find a more secluded part of the beach to have some lunch. Beautiful place with ample walks and a cafe also. This is private land and I think parking was £3.50 to go up to the point and park but you can stay as long as you like and dogs are welcome. This is NOT an accessible place, pushchairs, wheelchairs and those with poorer mobility would struggle out of a vehicle. Good areas for rock pooling, fishing and crystal hunting the rocks are covered in quartz and dogtooth calcite! A stunning part of the world so glad we came.
Sarah Leese — Google review
Wow wow wow what stunning beauty 😍 parked up in the van and had food at the beautiful cafe. Absolutely lush. Views were lovely. Rocky beach but the water was nice. Quite choppy. Perfect evening doggy friendly
bekki hughes — Google review
Great overnight spot to stay in a campervan... wnet on the weekend of storm...and the fish farm area is perfect and protected from wind, the pop top roof hardly moved!
Nige Lowe — Google review
I went for photography and it was great! I parked before the toll and walked, and it took about 20mins each way. Otherwise you could pay for access to the car park right by the cafe.
Gareth Olley — Google review
Lovely place. Loved the lighthouse with views of Puffin Island and the rock pools. Also the lovely little cafe. Great coffee and cake and lovely paintings and souvenirs (not to mention the gin bar)!! .
Edwina Beresford — Google review
Beautiful views of Puffin Island from this lovely spot . Paid £3.50 to a lovely gentleman but this allowed all day parking so was excellent value. Rocky beach but so worth the trip. The cafe was lovely and we treated ourselves to home made cake and coffee after spending a couple of hours enjoying the scenery. We will definitely return to this spot on our next visit to Wales and pack for a full day's visit.
Sally Bringhurst — Google review
Was a longer walk than expected from Beaumaris!! My fault !! Lovely though and managed the full coastal path back 😀 spoilt only by car drivers .... think I could only see the 15mph limit... if I'd had a cactus in my hand could easily have ended up in a back windscreen! 😃 😀 ... you know...
Ian Gage — Google review
Very popular and busy place to visit. £3.50 toll charge to use the road. Once the tourist and dog walkers have left it's a pleasant place to stay.
stephen mills — Google review
Stunning place to visit, made all the more breathtaking with an incoming storm churning up the sea. Access is via a toll road £3.50 for cars / £7.50 for vans but there is ample free parking near the lighthouse and you can link this in with a walk to an old quarry site (a great spot to check out the seals and oyster catchers!) and nearby priory. I'd recommend avoiding the cafe nearby to the lighthouse.
Dave - The Bearded Brewing Botanist — Google review
Wow... stunning views over to Puffin island, car park for us was £7.50, chap on the gate said we could park up for the night and just pay £7.50 again the following morning. Cracking little cafe at the top aswell.
Ian Parkinson — Google review
I have been wanting to come here for some time as I see it weekly. I finally went and was not disappointed. Absolutely stunning, blue skies. Will definitely visit again.
Ger Wills — Google review
Small transit campervan so £7.50 to enter the small, passing place road. If you stay overnight, then you pay another £7.50 when you leave. Fabulous for the peace, quiet and amazing views.
Alison Thomas — Google review
It is a peaceful place. You can eat and sit. You can enter in a small campervan, but you cannot stay overnight. Currently, entry or entry by car costs £3.50. You can leave your car in the parking lot or drive right to the stone beach. I recommend.
Tomasz Zatylny — Google review
Love Penmon any time of year. The cafe has a really good selection of food and drinks and also has a liquor licence. Great walking
Sascia Marques — Google review
Lovely beauty spot with great views of puffin Island and also the lighthouse. It costs £3.50 to drive through to the car park, but it's worth every penny for the stunning views. There is a cafe but we had just had lunch so didn't give it a go this time around. We will be back!
Jennifer Wickert — Google review
Once you’ve handed over silver to the tollman (£3.50 to be precise) you can proceed past Penmon Priory to the lighthouse. Parking available right by the lighthouse. A stunning walk with a great view. Worth a brew in the cafe afterwards. Highly recommend but gets busy from midday. Stony beach.

Canolfan Thomas Telford Centre offers a wealth of informative displays on the Davies family, Menai Bridge, Britannia Bridge, and the local impact of World War I. The knowledgeable volunteers provide engaging historical insights related to the exhibits. Child-friendly activities include a Welsh dragon hunt, an information quiz, and bridge-building blocks. Highly recommended for engineering enthusiasts and those interested in the history of engineering.
Performed a guitar concert for the North Wales Guitar Circle here and the acoustics were fantastic. If there is a concert there, I recommend attending (if you like music!) because there is a permanent exposition on the history of the Menai Bridge and on Thomas Telford. So if you're a history buff, you'll enjoy stopping by.....not sure of the visiting hours but you can find the web site easily. But if there is a concert while you are visiting you can catch the show AND see the exhibition.
Valerie Hartzell — Google review
Worth a quick visit to appreciate the two great bridges over the Menai Straights and their history and construction/ reconstruction, Very helpful volunteers on hand to guide you through all the exhibits and video presentations/ films. Very reasonably priced at £3 for an adult located just a couple of hundred yards from the Menai Bridge.
Steve Gothard — Google review
The Centre had many highly informative boards covering the histories of the Davies family, Menai Bridge, Britannia Bridge and a little bit about the impacts of the First World War in the local area. The volunteers at the centre were really fun to talk to and had an amazing knowledge of history related to the exhibits. The Centre is also child friendly as there are a number of activities they can do including a hunt for a Welsh dragon to win a prize; a quiz about the information on show and some blocks with which they can construct their own bridges. Over all, I would highly recommend the Canolfan Thomas Telford Centre especially for anyone interested in engineering and the history of engineering.

Church Island is a 2.7-acre land mass located in the Menai Strait, featuring a 15th-century church and a memorial honoring those who lost their lives in World War I and World War II. The Belgium Promenade, constructed by Flemish refugees during the Great War, leads southwest from this island to a causeway linking it to the ancient Church of St Tysilio on the shore. Exploring the churchyard provides breathtaking views of both bridges spanning the Menai Strait.
I've gone to Church Islan a few times when visiting family in Bangor. There's something wonderfully haunting about this place and I find the Menai Straits fascinating. This was my first visit at twilight (although the camera made it look earlier in the photos). Great to see oystercatchers coming into nest on the rocks nearby.

This is a beautiful and peaceful place. The slate gravestones mean you can see all the details on the stones...great if you have an interest in history or a relative you want to find. The tiny church is beautiful as well. The views from the monument are to die for... Literally ;-)
Iain Lettice — Google review
Lovely area, beautifully peaceful and a quaint little walk. Good for walking round, a separate little island split by a walkway, with just enough room to carry a small car. When we visited, the church was open which was a nice visit. From the top of the monument walk, you had a lovely view. Worth visiting on a sunny day.

Haven't eaten here for years - but it was lovely!
Chris Murray — Google review
Having tried on and off for 8 years to get in to Sosban, a stroke of luck had us finding a booking the day after my birthday. It did not disappoint - a tiny venue with space for 12 across three tables, our sitting had 8 (4, 2 & 2). Incredibly intimate, as the experience begun with the chef, Stephen talking us through the various beverage options all personally curated & selected. Not a menu in sight. The way the evening is curated, with mind-blowing food throughout, will blow you away. If you're lucky enough to get a table, make sure to go! Sustainable cooking, mind bending flavours & ingredients, friendly staff - it has it all.

Fantastic 1 star Michelin restaurant. Extremely attentive service with first class food. Booking essential. A 'hidden' tasting menu where you are told what each course is as you get It. (Ring ahead if you have any intolerances etc) The food is out of this world. Unusual food combinations at times which work so very well. Highly recommended

We had a fantastic food experience and evening here. I say experience because it's not just a meal but a food adventure! The food was incredible and the lady that runs it is possibly the friendliest person I have ever experienced in a restaurant, she was so humble and couldn't do enough for us. You will be looked after and have some fantastic food guaranteed! This would be great for a party of 4. If you're just looking for a meal and don't want to spend a lot of time in a restaurant then this isn't for you, however if you want a taste adventure, fantastic friendly service, a warm feel and a good evening then you should visit this place! Recommend recommend!!!

Seafood restaurant
Dylan's Menai Bridge seafood restaurant is a beautiful, modern two story building with breathtaking views from every table across the Strait. The food is sourced locally and specialty is pizza (made on premises using traditional techniques) and seafood that comes directly from the Strait, including the world famous Menai mussels.
The food was amazing here. I had pizza and my partner had the burger and chips. For dessert I had the chocolate brownie, which was one of the best desserts I've tasted. My partner had the sticky toffee pudding and he said it was yummy. Sat upstairs where they had gorgeous views of the lake.
Lisa McV — Google review
Was recommended this restaurant by a friend so decided to treat my wife to a visit for her Birthday. Location is stunning - just under the Menai Bridge with views out over the Strait. The food was good but not amazing. I had the Korean Burger with chunky chips. I thought the portion size was a bit small for the price. It was very tasty though. My wife had a pizza and we had to send it back the first time as it was soggy. It was quickly rectified and the waitress was apologetic. As a means of an apology we were offered a free dessert, which was a great touch. The restaurant also gave my wife an ice cream platter with Happy Birthday written in sauce. Overall a good experience but thought it was slightly pricey. I know the location is probably a factor here. Would I go back? Not sure… Would I recommend it, probably.
John Livesey — Google review
As soon as you walk in the welcome is warm & the smells are divine. We were seated at the front of the restaurant due to us bringing our beagle to lunch, Dylan's is very dog friendly 2 large mussels with freshly baked sourdough, a chicken platter, feather blade of beef with chips were ordered for our party of 4. My word this was tasty, the chicken was varied & succulent, the mussels were perfectly cooked & a there were loads of them, the bread was perfect for the sauce, then I had the beef which just melted & the peppercorn sauce was spot on. Loved everything about this place & will def revisit when in the area again

We had such a lovely time at Dylan’s! The seafood options are delicious and the views of the strait are wonderful. We would definitely recommend visiting. The staff are so friendly and made a birthday lunch really special. Thank you very much!

Dylan's always consistent always great. Booked for lunch to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Asked to be seated overlooking straits. On arrival we were greeted promptly and were wished A Happy Anniversary and taken to our seat overlooking the Menai Straits. The menu was as usual good and the specials were obviously popular as they had no Bao Buns left. Our meals were delicious and piping hot and of great quality. We will definitely be returning at some point.
Clare Unwin — Google review
Overall, my experience was very good. The seared scallop starter was absolutely delicious, but 3 scallops for £15 is very steep. The seafood linguine starter was tasty, but there was a lot of grit in all 3 mussels, as well as a noticeable amount of crab shell. This can happen when eating seafood, but given the reputation and price point, I would expect them to take more care. My service was very nice, and the interior is very warm and inviting. The best part was the sticky toffee pudding. It was beautifully plated and I will be dreaming of it. I would go back, but I'd be more conscious of price the next time.
Kelly Genesio — Google review
Great food, great location and professional staff. Highly recommended! Fresh fish and seafood, perfectly cooked, surprisingly enough the desserts are really good to the chocolate Orange mousse was perfection.

Went for a late lunch as all the tables were already booked after opening. Everything was cooked to perfection with good quality ingredients! Have to commend them on that one, of the many meals we have out this year in different places, for one reason or another they always fall short! Not on this occasion, well done Dylan’s! Just wished they’d have the full selection of beers on offer from the menu, or check if there’s any spare at their shop down the road! Will happily visit next time.

We had lunch for 3 and were sat in the conservatory with fantastic views over the Menai Straits. Food was very good, I had mackerel pate to start, followed by a dressed crab. All suitably delicious and washed down with a nice viognier. Great atmosphere with attentive, but not intrusive staff. Thoroughly recommended.

After seeing reviews, we decided to book here yesterday evening. First of all the man that tuck our order was brilliant !! Food was super tasty, all at the right temperature, cooked well and left us feeling full and somewhere we'd definitely come back too. The views were amazing The only downfall and my reason for the 4 stars, is unfortunately thus place is cashless. Not something I personally support.
Stacey Holmes — Google review
Great Food, nice venue with a good view (on most days) waitors are very friendly and overall experience is high quality. We went for lunch which was just as good as an evening meal at Dylans. We had a garlic bread pizza starter, muscles, margarita pizza and side of seasoned fries. All food was well made and lovely.

Wow, all the food was amazing. Quality & flavour were outstanding! Just a shame we couldn't fit in dessert. The chips were the best chips I've ever had and I'm a proper chip lover. Service was quick and very friendly. The view and vibe was just perfect for a romantic evening.

Disappointing… We had pre-ordered at Dylan’s, yet when we arrived we had to wait 30-40 minutes for our food. What was the point in pre-ordering? The costs were absolutely extortionate for what you got. We ordered the chicken basket (you would assume it would be a basket full of chicken… not the case at all) £17.95 for 4 chicken tenders is honestly disgusting. See picture attached. The chicken was dry, I honestly can make better at home with oven chicken tenders. Everyone who ordered this dish was thoroughly dissatisfied. The hake was light, flavoursome and well cooked. But a very small dish, our friend was still hungry. The brisket burger was nice but nothing special. It didn’t fall apart in your mouth how you would expect brisket to. Also, we were seated near the food pass, it was really smokey which wasn’t the most pleasant. Staff were really nice and accommodating though, so thanks to the team! Wouldn’t return and certainly not value for money.

I was hungry and passing by, then I noticed this restaurant here in Menai Bridge. I could smell of Pizza’s from outside! probably because I was really hungry. Well I had a Margarita Pizza and some fries. I loved the olive oil fragrance on the pizza and the simplicity of it. I have enjoyed it and yes I would love to come here again with my better half. Im sure she will like it. Thanks to the Chef and the team. Also they do have really good view of Menai river from the back. Which will be more promising in summer I can imagine. I have got few clicks to share. Thanks.

The service is amazing along with the views however the food isn’t as good as you would have expected at that price point - gambas wasn’t the best I’ve had . The mussels according to my wife tasted very nice. £110 with tip is on the expensive side but guess that’s partly for the view . I would definitely give it another go but wouldn’t have gambas .

We visited Dylan's for dinner this Easter BH weekend and we were not disappointed. The food, the drinks, the staff and the ambience of the place was spot on! We had cocktails and a garlic bread starter (no pictures to show as we forgot), would recommend the garlic bread. For mains we had the Hake and Seabass (from the specials menu) which were brilliant! For dessert we shared the hot cross bun butter pudding (from the specials menu) which was an absolute winner! Overall we liked it. The waiting times were a bit more than normal for the food which we completely understand given it was a busy BH weekend.

Bar
The Black Boy Inn is a Welsh restaurant that serves local food with seasonal specials. The pub is also a hotel from the middle ages, and it's great for people to enjoy its history and atmosphere. Food here is typical Welsh, with hearty portions that will leave you satisfied. It's also dog-friendly, so your furry friend can join you for a meal.
Went there twice for dinner when we were in Caernarfon, the staff were friendly, helpful and professional. The bar itself was cozy, welcoming with a vibrant buzzy atmosphere and had a good selection of beers and spirits. There was a good menu with a broad selection of starters, mains and deserts, the food itself was well cooked, arrived at the table piping hot, was well presented and tasted great, The one thing I would warn you all about is to wear clothing with an expanding waist as the portions are a bit north of generous. The meals are very well priced and offer great value for money. I would really recommend this hostelry for a casual drink or for a great meal in nice historic surroundings

Amazing pub/restaurant - food was great every day during my stay at their hotel. It was so good we came back basically every night for dinner after touring Wales. I definitely need to come back to try the rest of the menu items. Recommendation: try the fish and chips - best I had so far! Also the staff is great which I always love when great food is complimented with great staff!

Never stayed here but visited for Sunday lunch for family of four. Have to say it is the best place I have ever been for Sunday lunch laid back atmosphere and staff that are fully connected with customers. We all opted for the carvery and was not disappointed the quality of the food and ingredients is better than I have every tried. Have to say the best was being served by the team they was totally professional. Absolutely five stars+ and will return. £57.80 in total for food and drink and the service reflect this. What an absolutely letdown the restaurant was! My partner and our two sons (10 & 12) stopped in for an evening meal while on holiday in the area. It felt like I had to give my whole life story including taking a selfie to get on the wifi and sign up for the app to order on. We ordered a medium Yorkshire pudding with sausage and mash, ploughman’s, chicken and leek pie and a buttermilk chicken burger. The Yorkshire pudding was over cooked and my son couldn’t cut through it. The chicken burger was really dry inside and mayo didn’t taste nice. Chicken in the pie was chewy and the chips were like day old ones that had all the potato taken out of them. The cheese on the ploughman’s had very little flavour, even the blue cheese. We spent £87 and all 4 of us left at least half our meals. At no point did anyone ask us if we were enjoying our meals. When my partner did get up to complain, she was led to see the manager/owner who was really dismissive and walked off half way through my partner explaining what was wrong. At which point he made clear we wouldn’t be getting a refund and that they would have a meeting the following day to discuss our complaint. Today we received an email trying to gas light us by saying that they had served over 500 meals and no one else had complained about the chips and the rest of the compliant was ignored. They have offered a £30 gift voucher but since our experience and not still being in the area, this is completely useless. We definitely won’t be going back and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone we know. Update following owner reply:- The fact that you are having to go through my past reviews and deflecting back on to us says a lot more about you than it does us. All you had to say in the night we can in was “I’m really sorry you haven’t enjoyed the meal, is there anything we can do to put that right” but you were only half listening and not interested in our experience. * I never once said the app was hard to use but commented in the fact it wanted a lot of information to get on line and then to register for the app. Usually this only asks for an email but yours seemed to want a lot more. * vegan and vegetarian options are a lot better but to a child may taste greatly different hence the comment about it not tasting right. A learning point for yourselves may be to put a disclaimer on the menu to say that some products have been substituted for vegan and vegetarian options so that people are aware. * not sure how far back you had to go to find a comment of me liking fries but that couldn’t be further from the truth. My last two food reviews were for pub food where I had decent chips and a chip shop where again I had chips and not fries. * we were ignored! Whether that was because of your attitude or being short staffed, but neither of them is caused by the customer or an excuse for poor customer service when faced with a complaint. I don’t need any more of your past work experience or your suppliers contact details as this review is based on our experience in the place where you currently work and on the food that was served to us and not how the suppliers sent it to you. I hope you take this as constructive criticism and learn/move on as you say you do.

Came for dinner as it was recommended by a work colleague, and I have to say, I was very impressed. The staff were very friendly, and were able to get to me quickly despite being busy. Started with the chicken liver pate, and I was not disappointed. Hands down one of the best I've had in a while. I then had the seafood chowder which was a new experience for me, and if in ever in the area again I'll definitely be back for more. I might even try to stay there so I have an excise to experience the food every night!

Lovely 500 year old building Room we had was nice and good value for money Hotel receptionist was very nice Waiting staff were nice enough but definitely not tip worthy Ordering food on the app was unnecessarily frustrating. The amount of people I saw asking for help with the app pretty much makes it pointless. It would be far quicker and give a far more personal experience if they took orders the conventional way. Worst of all after all of the messing around trying to order the food was awful. So to sum up I'd recommend the hotel side of the pub buy not the restaurant.

We were desperate to charge our EV somewhere after the charger at my rented barn had failed. The bar staff kindly let us park in their private car park while we charged up to 100%. After a stroll around the town we had dinner and a few drinks here. Wonderful meals and friendly quick service at a good price in an interesting and historical hotel. 5 star service all around. Well done keep up the good work and Thanks for helping us out 👍🙂 Joe

We visited this fine olde world pub during a short stay on a coach trip. Comfy, cosy and atmospheric, with the appalling weather it was a lovely respite for a short time. Quiet at first but trade was building as it was time for us to leave. The staff, and the drinks were fine, it was a shame to leave but we were getting too cosy for the amount of time we had left before our departure.

Sunday carvery is great. Generous helping of Turkey, beef and lamb. Big pile of veg, cauliflower cheese and potatoes to go with it. Kids meals also good value. Colouring sheets and crayons to keep kids happy.

Excellent dining experience. Menu is really good, portions are massive. Warm friendly staff. It a perfect dinning experience. Go in walk through to the dinning area take a seat and order at the bar. You will love it.

What a find. Full of old world charm, fabulous food and very welcoming staff. We both had the beef and ale pot pie, which was truly delicious. Excellent range of beer and wine too. Highly recommend and next time we're in Caernarfon we'll definitely eat here. One word of caution... the sign outside says that they don't take bookings and that all ordering is done via the app from your table. I suspect that this was a Covid thing. Reservations are now taken. We were very lucky to get a table as we hadn't booked and it was a Monday night out of season!

A thoroughly enjoyable experience at the Black Boy. Our room (21) was excellent in every respect. Large, clean and well appointed. Lovely bathroom and shower. Restaurant has a good menu plus one for kids. Great choice and delicious. Service is excellent by well trained staff. Breakfast was great and again a good choice with super service. A pass for the car park is offered.

Went here for dinner as it has lots of great reviews. It's a nice place. Steak and ale pie was nice but the sides were below average. Service was average as well. It was busy so obviously a popular spot. It's called the black boy inn and actually has a sculpture of a black boy in a chimney to represent a chimney sweep but they have obviously got a sculpture of an African boy which I'll let you make up your own mind about

We had a lovely meal here with family last night. Staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful. Food was excellent . Portions were pretty large, so good value for money. Lovely oldy wordly ambience. Will be returning and definitely recommending to friends and our guests.

Absolutely disappointing! Rude waitress (middle age lady) don’t waste your money. I am surprised this place running, many other nice places to eat around this area. Dont go

We stayed in a gorgeous room with beautiful historic styling that also had all of the modern amenities and conveniences you would expect from a 4 star hotel. We did not expect it to be so lovely here which blew us away. All of the staff were fantastic, all incredibly friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Ruth who was our waitress for our evening meal and made us feel incredible welcome and couldn’t have given better service than she did. The food was perfect as well, which sealed the deal on a perfect experience.

Unfortunately a poor service this evening. We waited 35 minutes for a drink, and we had to prompt them before recieving them. So perhaps the drinks order wasn’t put through. The food then came before the drinks. There were some nice meals however we were missing a meal that the waitress then had to come and ask again what had been ordered. This was bought to the table after everyone had finished their meal. We then tried to pay the bill and were told that it could only be paid on one card rather than a bill being split. We were suprised to see that we had been charged for the steak and asked if it could be removed from the bill considering it was served after everyone had finished. The waitress went to check with a manager who must have suggested half price. We agreed to this, and split a big bill between 14 only for the waitress to make a point of coming back to tell us that we were £1.70 short on a bill of over £350. Perhaps some upskilling in customer service needed.

Nice little pub with cosy atmosphere but the food was disappointing. Had the chicken curry, chicken was over cooked and chewy, rice had just come out of the microwave and the chips were luke warm. I've had better curries in Wetherspoons to be honest 😔

Brilliant restaurant with amazing food and great staff. Service was prompt and the portions were massive. Once ordered, food was at our table in 10 minutes which was good as it was quite busy. I will definitely be going again.

The Gaerwen Arms is a warm and welcoming family restaurant and bar located on Chapel Street, Gaerwen. They serve locally inspired food at reasonable prices with great service and a relaxed atmosphere. The beer selection is good with dog friendly facilities too.
Great food, great service, really nice place, very pretty surroundings. Relaxed atmosphere, good beer selection. Dog friendly too for well behaved dogs :-) I will definitely return.

One of our best dining experiences yet. The Gaerwen Arms boasts faultless service and great quality food. One of the greatest meals we've had as a family. A well run establishment with thoughtful staff. Keep up the high standards. Don't forget to stir the cocktails though 😉

The food and service here was absolutely incredible with a wonderful view. The pub is dog-friendly and they were kind enough to bring ours water and treats as well. The staff were so attentive. We were celebrating becoming engaged earlier in the day and they went above and beyond. The food (locally sourced) was so good we came back the next day for Sunday lunch and had what my (now fiancé) described as "the best soup he's ever had". We were on holiday and live six hours away but I'd drive back just for the lobster risotto. Thank you so much to all the team here. If the manager reads these reviews, please give all of the kitchen and bar staff a huge pat on the back because they're doing a brilliant job and we couldn't have had a better time. Thank you!

The local leek and potato starter was out of this world, because of this we were really looking forward to the tofu curry we had ordered for our mains. However unfortunately this was what let them down. Hense the 3 star. The tofu was meant to be marnitated, but wasn't at all and was very bland. The tofu was slighty watery as if it wasn't pressed at all (firm tofu needs to be pressed as part of its preparation). I loved the idea of a Chinese curry (which the sauce was and the addition of tofu and pac choi) but it was like they had tried to combine Indian and Chinese cuisine, it didnt make much sense. Would have loved to see a welsh and indian/Chinese combination instead if that was the style they were going for. In saying that the onion bhajis were lovely, had nice flavour to them. Would have been great to have more sauce with the dish as well, was so little sauce that the naan became obselete. The presentation was fantastic. The overall atmosphere was very cold sadly. The younger female staff were really nice and good at their jobs. Overall I do appracaite that they are unlikely to cook for vegans often with it being in such a remote location and it was nice to see a vegan option. However the main course does need tweaking and perhaps another look at. The starter was amazing, absolutely no faults. Would come back for the starter.

Frankly the food and dining experience was out of this world, at very reasonable prices! Loved the steak tartare. I’m hesitant to put this out there publicly because I’m afraid we’ll never be able to get another booking! 😉

Seriously amazing food. Best we've had since arriving in Wales almost a week ago. Made a refreshing change from pub food "something and chips"! Service also excellent.

An absolute hidden gem!! We only live half an hour way, but never knew the place existed! The most amazing food which you wouldn't be surprised to find in a fine dining restaurant. Incredible - will definitely be returning!!

Wasn't expecting what I experienced yesterday and that's always the best scenario. Food was spectacular, service superb, cleanliness first class. I stopped for food, thinking this looks like a good pub for pub grub, I like all aspects of dining out, be in fine dining to pub grub when I had my first course onion soup, I was taken aback but the flavour, it was rich, smooth and worked very well. The second course was the steak, cooked to perfection and presented well on the plate with the sides. Lastly the pebble dessert. This was simply unreal. It has to be up there with one of my favourite desserts. I'm glad I found this little gem, you should all give it a try.

What a gem! In terms of food, this was without a doubt one of the best surprises this year. Varied pub menu and though I’ve been for lunch, the evening dishes looked very very good. Decent price as well and great views from the terrace.

The Freckled Angel is a hip, intimate restaurant that specializes in elevated British small plates. The menu features dishes made with locally sourced ingredients, and the atmosphere is perfect for sharing food with friends. The restaurant was awarded Cheshire Lifes North Wales Dining Excellence Award earlier this year, and makes it into the Good Food Guide 2020.
Great restaurant. The atmosphere is really nice in here and the staff are very friendly. The food is to put it simply, delicious. Don't expect large portions, it's not that type of restaurant. However, the quality shines, it's very comforting food. The price for the small dishes is very reasonable, but quite expensive for the larger plates, however that's probably just the economics of eating out these days. Oh and side note, the decor is awesome. Just remember it has no parking, so you will have to find somewhere in town.

Incredible food and great service. So delicious and was a real enjoyable culinary experience! Would recommend 100%.

The food was absolutely delicious! We were really impressed with the quality, and even the size of the portions (even in the 'small plates). The Korean Fried Chicken, the Haddock in mussels and Tartare sauce, and the Apple and brown butter tart in particular were truly wonderful. We did have to wait quite a while for our food but the waitresses were very friendly and pleasant, and the food made up for it!

Flavours are great, portions bit small vs price although appreciate there is a lot of work in many of the dishes. Cauliflower was not crispy.

Superb eateries with tapas type dishes from different cuisines. Relaxing ambience, friendly efficient service and excellent food. The yuzu meringue pie was out of this world! Good value for money. Highly recommended.

We made a last minute decision to have lunch here and could not have been happier. Fantastic food, great value and really friendly people. I had what was effectively a four course 'tasting menu' lunch for £26, and everything was cooked fantastically well. An absolute pleasure.

A nicely decorated, cosy restaurant with caring, helpful staff. We had a lovely tapas meal, a nice bottle of Malbec and took the remaining wine home with us.

Lovely, well presented food and friendly service. There was a problem with my drink - cocktail was warm and made with (a lot) of syrup rather than lime juice. But staff were cool about my wishing to send it back, I was able to swap it for another drink with no issue. Would recommend and happily revisit. 😊

July 22 visit (I updated one word on the review, it changed the date to Oct 2023) I love a good small plates restaurant and these eats, were some of the best I've ever have. Usually when doing reviews, I tend to give a four star place five stars, as people underscore (plus no 4.5 option exists). But I cannot rate this place highly enough. As someone that uses Google maps a lot, I hope people will give it a try. We booked online easily enough, which is probably prudent during busier hours. They did have a large party upstairs apparently, so that's is an option for those interested. The food itself was excellent quality, reasonably priced for small plates, with pleasant staff and decor. One couple did come with a toddler, when we went early evening (at opening). So it's fine for kids I would say if necessary. Not sure if they have a kids menu. As a side note, some of the meal names did tickle us. Retired dairy cow being the one that sticks to mind.

We came to the Freckled Angel on the back of a wine tour and from the reviews were really looking forward to trying the food - we were not disappointed! The front of house staff were welcoming and engaging and quickly took us to our table on the mezzanine. Despite being a busy night then staff quickly took our drinks order and then our food order - we went with a selection of small plates and 1 side: duck parfait, duck leg, ox cheek, haddock chowder, Thai cod, arancini and beetroot salad. My god they were all individually amazing and delicious. The service was good - attentive but not overbearing and we enjoyed every moment. If you're in the area I highly recommend going here for your food.

Loved the food here! Me and my friend had a really lovely evening meal. We shared 4 small plates and 2 sides which were perfectly portioned so that we finished without feeling totally stuffed. I will definitely be coming back for more. Thank you.

Lovely place and stunning food! Very friendly staff as well. We always make sure to come here for our annual trip to North Wales🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 We had the pork, duck, Korean fried chicken and Parmesan profiteroles this time. All gorgeous, but I would definitely recommend the duck and korean fried chicken. The pork cheek is also delicious. We’ll be back next year!

Dined at a few great restaurants in Menai Bridge the past few days, and we are glad that we ended our last dinner at Freckled Angel. The food was served in Tapas style, with very creative selections. The flavours were very well balanced with various textures, which excited and delighted the taste buds. All of the dishes that we had were delicious, especially the cod and the pork belly. The Yuzu meringue was amazing, and the chocolate parfait was to die for. The staff were friendly and efficient. If you have to choose only one place to dine while in Menai Bridge, book Freckled Angel!

This is a spectacular experience/meal. We ordered a little bit of everything and left fully satisfied after sharing them among the 7 of us. Best mojito I’ve ever had. Each plate was thoughtful and deliciously composed. You’ve got to make a reservation as a heads up.
