Children's museum
"Fossils Galore" offers fantastic kids activities and a Dino dig with great prizes. The activity bundle is reasonably priced and includes lots of fun for kids of all ages. The staff are friendly and professional, and the shop offers reasonably priced items, making it perfect for kids with pocket money. Visitors highly recommend the experience and look forward to returning to explore the museum.
We attended today, it was fantastic!! The kids activities are amazing, the image below is everything one of my children got from the activities she did and the prize she won from the Dino dig. Fossils galore is brilliantly priced, I couldn’t believe everything we got for the activity bundle! 100% worth doing. Lots of activities for kids of all ages. All of the staff are friendly and professional. After the activities we looked round the shop, all items were priced in the right price range for crystals. I was so impressed because all the kids items were perfectly priced. Brilliant for kids who maybe are going with pocket money. I highly recommend, we didn’t have time for the museum today but we’re all looking forward to go back and see the museum.

This was a new discovery for us! Me and my son had no plans so I searched online for things to do and this place popped up. Very welcoming and the young volunteers were absolutely lovely and so helpful. It's not something to fill the whole day maybe 1-1.5 hours but still my son loved it!

Fab morning at Fossils Galore. Lovely activities, friendly stuff all very knowledgeable and encouraging. Worth a visit.

Came in looking for some crystals for my friend for Christmas ,the staff were extremely helpful telling me what they all meant and do then helped me pick out the perfect ones for her :)
Holli Venni — Google review
This shop is a real find, fossils, gem stones and crystals galore. Not only that but a tea room and children's workshop too. Lady at the till was lovely to chat with, nothing was too much trouble. I will definitely visit again, next time with my son.
Ria Kendall (FibroPrincess) — Google review
Such a hidden gem.....volunteers are informative and friendly. Great rapport with kids and the activities get the kids engrossed. My 8yr old came away so proud of what he had found. Gold, shark's teeth, geodes etc etc. I took older grandchildren there 10 years ago and they still remember it!
June Burton — Google review
Really lovely little place. For a dino lover it's the perfect place to visit. We went in the museum and a really lovely, polite young man called Marshall helped us with our activity where we dug for fossils. We learnt a lot and really enjoyed our time. Well worth a visit.
Alexandra Cooper — Google review
Thank you for a really fun and informative afternoon. We had such a good time and Jamie, Aaron and Lacey took time and great care to make sure we got the most out of our visit. We will definitely be coming back again soon.

Just popped in when I stayed in March for work. Amazing shop and well priced with lots of fossils and minerals to choose from. Staff were really helpful and friendly. Will definitely come back if I'm in the area to check out the museum since I didn't have time!

We are first time visitors and we will definitely be back!! We completed the skills bundle and it was so much fun!! We did get a bit competitive as a family. When you first arrive, I didn't see anywhere to park but we found a car park that was 5 min walk, it looks like a shop. Lacey was telling us it's an old bank (the old safe can still be seen). When you first walk in, there are cases filled with crystals, fossils and jewellery. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We asked about fossil hunting (found on their website and from reviews read) and they gave us a list!! Skills bundle selected!! Jamie suggested the museum and we have 6 months membership... hopefully a little bit more Indy will be seen). Out back is where we had a great time going from station to station. Lacey stayed with us the whole time and helped me find a blue and white piece of pottery 🥰🥰 thank you Lacey!! We could take 3 pieces from each station. Safe to say we now have a goody bag upon leaving!! It was carefully thought of as all pieces were bagged with a info sheet!! Perfect to help remind ourselves after a few months!! Lacey offered to show us around the museum, though small... it was enough to appreciate the work that went into what they have!! Check out the mammoth hip and Indy's skin prints!! After walking around the museum... shopping!! OK, me and my step daughter can shop but we struggled to think of what we wanted to buy!! There are so many pieces that we could of got, the thought and care behind the displays!! We will be back!! And we are thinking about joining the field trips too!! Thank you Jamie and Sarah for fossil galore and thank you Lacey for putting up with us 🥰🥰

Skylark Garden Centre & Cafe offers a variety of attractions including a cafe, fishing lakes, farm shop, events space and funyard. Visitors can enjoy an appetizing Sunday lunch at the cafe and explore the garden-related products available for purchase. The center also features clean facilities with sanitizers available. However, some visitors may find the lack of seating outside the cafe to be a downside, especially for those with walking or standing problems.
Best coffee around in their cafe. Some good deals in the garden centre. Had a great day, lots of activities. Can't wait to go again.
Jennifer Gill — Google review
Really great time. The maze was amazing. There were plenty of other act as well. The water splash games and. The trampoline / sandpit area was amazing. My daughter and her cousins all had a great time. Just a little bit pricey for what we felt it's worth. Had a great long day out though.
Stephen Edwards — Google review
Local garden centre. Nice cafe if you don't go when it's busy in the school holidays. Very noisy with echoing children shouting! You are allowed to take your dog in and take him for a walk round the big field at the back, but have to eat outside if you want a cuppa after the walk with the pup. Bacon sandwich was nice. Good bread and nice tea. I heard that they are going to expand the cafe. It would be nice if they had an area that allows dogs.
Hilary Gibbons — Google review
I can't really comment on the garden center as I've only been in there once. Had a quick look round and left because the prices were way out of my league. But I do go to the car boot a bit, but even that's getting expensive too. A pound a person to go in and minimum of £15 a table if you want to sell your stuff on the car boot. That's a lot of dosh for a table on a car boot. You have to sell 15 quids worth of stuff before you make anything. Plus what ever it cost you to get there. So I would have to sell 25 quids worth of stuff before I made a penny. And we all know that that is not guaranteed that you will make that money back. But it is a large car boot with dealers and normal booter people. Sorry not got that much good to say but I always am honest in my reviews. Keep looking honesty as always my friends. X
Barry ?Baza T? Thompson — Google review
We not only went to the garden centre but also spent the day at the Maze and play park. Great fun for the children (it was not busy when we were there). Ample free parking with several options for food and drink (I can personally recommend the ploughman's!) All in all, a great family day out!
Dee Sturgess — Google review
Dog friendly, pleasant experience. Our food was very tasty despite how busy they were after the car boot, but I would add one thing, my egg, sausage, and bacon sandwich was sincerely let down by the bread! It was far too flimsy! A big bap or rustic style bread might be better! I had to eat it with a knife and fork 🤣🍽
rita yorke — Google review
Brilliant family day out! A welcoming and friendly team throughout the site with an array of activities for the family. Very reasonably priced and well worth the visit!
Sam L Edmunds — Google review
Hands down this has got to be one of my favorite garden centers since moving to the UK. We have a lovely garden center only 6 minutes from us, but will go out of our way to travel to Skylark from the Haddenham area. The staff here is incredibly helpful and friendly. There is always some sort of deal on plants, the cafe, or the inside shopping area. Last time we even got a very large beautiful glazed pot free with our total order. Also the farm stand in the parking lot has the best eggs from their chickens.
Jub's Journey — Google review
We visited again November 2023. This was for trip out, thanks to my daughter and son-in-law. I had a really good, appetising, tasty Sunday lunch. Later I took a few photos of the 4 pygmy goats. Really brilliant. Very good selection of all things garden related. Some were too expensive for me, others good value. Toilets very clean, with sanitiser available. Only let down for me, and anyone who has walking/standing problems was the lack of any seating, except in the café. Home now and suffering from walking too far.
Rob Marple — Google review
Beautiful garden centre, wouldn't say it is massive but a good size! Love all the local food and drink selections. The cafe... It is amazing! Breakfasts are the best around, absolutely stunning, fresh, and perfectly cooked, kudos to the chef! The staff are always so lovely, thank you!!
Amie — Google review
What it is, is, you never quite know what to expect from Skylark. Today it's full of Christmas, a supreme toasted teacake and perfectly percolated coffee. Extraordinary, as ever. Probably the very best cheese scone I've ever tasted: warm from the oven with plenty of butter. Sensational.
David Learner — Google review
Called in mid morning for a bacon sandwich in the cafe while ordering my spring supplies for the garden, which were delivered later in the week (free). Good selection for breakfast food.Three rashers and cooked properly as you expect.Pleasant staff throught and an easy way to pass a couple of hours.Convenient store with good selection,i hope they can sell all that garden furniture ,a really extensive display for anybody in the market for it

Fox Narrowboats | Boat Hire near Ely Cambridge

Mentioned on
Boat rental service
Tours
Fox Narrowboats offers day boat hire near Ely, Cambridge. Visitors had a great time with their families, finding the boats well-equipped and the team welcoming and helpful. They enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and encountered friendly boaters and fishermen. Another visitor praised the fantastic service received during their narrowboat hire experience, expressing interest in returning for a longer term hire in the future.
Somewhat of a late review, but it's only right to do so after such fantastic service we received. We hired a narrowboat for the day and found it an absolutely brilliant experience. The staff were very professional and friendly, we will definitely be visiting again, maybe partaking in a longer term hire next... Thanks again.
Jason Murfitt — Google review
Although I'll never do this again, it was brilliant. This boat was a year old and kitted out beautifully. Two bedrooms, each with a private bathroom. Fully loaded kitchen...the meals we were able to cook...mwah! The people at Fox Narrowboats were lovely smiling people. Their happiness was contagious. They even let you pre-order to have a Tesco delivery loaded on board. It's a very lovely setup for beginners and experienced narrowboat-ers. But beginners be aware that it isn't simple to keep the long boat away from the shores and/or putting it gently into the locks. You must take your time and concentrate. I am ex-navy, familiar intimately with water, but this is something completely different. There are no real waves, but a passing boat can make you feel like there are. This experience was one of my best trips taken over the years because the narrowboat community is welcoming and very inviting. For this reason alone, I'd go again, but as a novice 60-foot narrowboat skipper, I will say only, "been there...got the t-shirt." I've got new grey hair from the responsibility...lol.

A wonderful family day out - we hired the Adventurer Narrowboat for the day. Staff were friendly, helpful and informative. Boat was clean and well equipped.
Sarah Babin — Google review
We really enjoyed our day on The Adventure narrow boat, which was smart and well equipped. Going through the Marmont Priory lock was educational and also fun. We indulged in some Glam Grazing by Gem (afternoon tea) on board which was excellent. All 10 of us had a great day.

Day Boat hire. We were due to go earlier in the year but due to high winds got postponed. Just been and we absolutely loved it. 2 families with 5 children between 7 and 16. Really well kitted out and team couldnt have been more welcoming and helpful. Lovely and peaceful and all the other boaters and fisherman we encountered were very friendly. I'd definitely do this again and recommend it to others. Thanks

My wife and I come from Sweden and had a plan for hiring a narrowboat. We have hired the Rural Fox for one week from Fox Narrowboats in March. We came fram March and drove the boat till Oundle. The river Nene is beautiful and peaceful and the boat life i easy going. Friendly people you meet during the journey. The boat is easy to drive and the locks are fun to deal with. We will thanks the people from Fox Narrowboats for the help and organization to make our week really unforgettable. The boat was in perfekt condition, clean and cosy. We had really nothing more to wish. Wish you all the best Greatings from Peter & Cina

Indian restaurant
The Spice Bank, hailed as the top Indian eatery in March, has garnered immense love from its patrons. It boasts exceptional ratings of 4.5 stars for both their delectable cuisine and impeccable service. Their overall rating stands strong at 4 stars on Tripadvisor. For those who prefer to dine within the comfort of their own abode, they offer a convenient takeaway service.
I attended this restaurant as a group of 14, I did think there may be a problem when 1 person received their bread first and had to wait for the main, but this was soon rectified. I throughly enjoyed my meal here. The prawn starter was heavenly and my main course was sustainable and very tasty. The staff were attentive too. I would recommend this resturant
yung_kid kid — Google review
Overall the food was really tasty, it’s about a spice level lower than curries of the same name elsewhere. So if you like heat make sure to let them know. Delivery estimate in UberEats was off by about 30mins, but to be fair when I asked for an update they gave an accurate time.
Oliver Whear — Google review
The food and service are excellent. Very friendly, willing to help and an enjoyable experience. The decor is a little dated and the fact that there are delivery pickups constantly detracts a little from the overall experience.
Peter Ward — Google review
Lovely traditional Indian meal. Quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Reasonable priced quality food, the usual great tasting Cobra beer but pricey now.
Nick Harvey — Google review
Delivery Nan breads not freshly made and from a packet! for the second time, thought it maybe a shortage the first time and let it go but again received pre baked nan breads, not good enough, foods always good but their standards are slipping .
Andrew Welbourne — Google review
Tandoori prawns inedible due to a nasty chemical taste. Hope we don’t hear from them again. Other main ok but very bland. Menu was so error-strewn and lacking in information that it was hard to choose a dish. Then to cap a really poor experience, we were charged £4.50 for two tap waters! Only saving graces were a friendly waitress (not the rude man who I assume was the manager) and the nice old building. However, sadly, this was comfortably the worst Indian (and one of the worst restaurants) I’ve encountered.
Oliver Birtill — Google review
Ordered through uber, spice bank accepted the order. After an hour of waiting they said they accidentally accepted the order and we would have to get a refund which takes 5 days. Very rude on the phone. Absolutely disgracful customer service.

A Thursday night in January, my 70th birthday, and I was in March with my grown up children following a funeral earlier that day. Unfortunately our first choice of restaurant (as recommended by my brother) was fully booked so we came to the Spice Bank. My son is vegetarian and doesn't drink, so asked for a pint of no-alcohol Cobra. When the 660ml bottle arrived, we soon saw it was the standard 4.5%, so he switched to water and my daughter and I shared the lager. Next problem: no vegetarian menu whatsoever, so we choose a selection from the starters and sides menu together with a couple of pilau rice and a naan. The onion bhajis were cricket ball sized and ok, a little stodgy in places, and the vegetable samosas were good. The rest were various potato dishes, not particularly well spiced. Last problem - no heating. Man it was cold in there, only us and one other table. Would I visit again? No.
Carol Henson — Google review
Our first visit to eat in, after many good takeaways and we were not disappointed, great food and friendly service

Not bad for a small town like March...there were lots of food on our table and everyone was satisfied 🤷🏼‍♀️I personally had sagwala paneer (was good) and tandoori king prawns (a bit dry, so wasn't very happy)
World traveller — Google review
Came here for dinner last, there was a big group of us which I understand can be a struggle but the food was so below standard, didn’t taste authentic at all. Menu is full of spelling mistakes with no description of the food. One of our friends found a fly in her curry. When paying, the manager was very accusatory when asking everyone how many beers they had, then tried to charge us for £40 worth of beer we never had. Would not recommend nor go back.

Situated in a village along the River Granta, The Ship Inn is a dog-friendly pub housed in a charmingly updated 17th-century building. This establishment has recently garnered attention and praise from an inspector, earning its spot on the Shortlist. The pub exudes a countryside atmosphere and offers a selection of eight craft beers on tap, with six options that rotate regularly and two fixed choices.
No food served. Snacks only are available. The building is an ancient one serving drinks only. It's very small inside so can get very crowded at times. Some of the draught beers sell out very quickly.

Nice pub the staff on the carvery were very welcoming and friendly. Not the best carvery we have been to but not the worst, roast potatoes out of ten a three and to me that's what makes a Sunday roast. We had really great stay in this lovely dog friendly hotel. All staff were very friendly and professional all the way through our stay. Had really good food in the restaurant in the evening and they even provided water and treats for our two dogs. The room was great!! Very clean, good size and LOVE the Sea Kelp hand-wash and moisturiser in the bathroom!! Really great touch! The breakfast was amazing, good size porsions and fantastic taste!! And again the service from the staff in the morning was really lovely and made us feel very relaxed! We would Highly recommend the Ye Olde Griffin in March ! :-)

Absolutely lovely place room was clean and modern, a tad too warm for me but we had the window open. Was told that there was a disco on but we didn't hear a thing. The service we received from Sandy was excellent, she was extremely friendly and very welcoming. The food was very nice and tasty, we ate lunch, dinner, and breakfast, however the portions of lasagna we had for tea were VERY small and at nearly £10 each we feel they need to be quite considerably bigger. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Absolutely fantastic quality food, shockingly reasonable prices and attentive, humorous and kind hearted staff. Can't believe I've missed out on visiting here for so many years! Sunday carvery was a highlight but the regular menu is also brilliant. Well definitely be coming back as soon as possible.

I give it a 4.5 because they do not serve food at night, not sure if it's after 9. Otherwise it is a great place to hang out as it's quite chilled, classic and it is walking distance from my house. It has a sports bar kinda feel. After 9 the music from the DJ is👌. 🥂....to the weekend music!

The breakfast was charged at £9 for 1 rasher, 1 sausage, 1 egg, 1 hash brown etc. But I noticed on the evening menu they advertised an all day breakfast at £8.99 that comes with 2 of everything. Just a bit puzzled as to why this was.

Just had a fab stay at the Griffin Hotel. Breakfast very good value. Talked to one of the service staff this morning cleaning the rooms. Sorry I didn’t get her name but she had dark brown hair. Lovely to talk to one of the unsung heroes as without the cleaning staff who take pride in their job there would be no hotel. Very nice clean rooms and good value also. Stayed here on a number of occasions and highly recommend xx

An Oasis in the culinary wilderness that is March in the Cambridgeshire fens. Huge pub but divided in to pleasing rooms and spaces so has a homely personable feel. Came for lunch on an unremarkable Monday and the place was busy. Lovely welcome and friendly bar staff. Sizeable menu and my choice of chicken salad did not disappoint. Near instant delivery (inc friends scampi, peas & chips - which was appreciated and impressive). The salad was 100% fresh, tasty and jam packed with different ingredients and extremely generous tender chicken. Deeply envious of the locals to have this establishment on their doorstep. All credit to the hard working and friendly staff - A winning formula indeed.

Sandy was a very welcoming and engaging host from arrival to departure. My room was warm and had a very comfortable bed. Lovely meals and friendly service. Not my first stay here and I am sure I will stay here again. Thank you.

Second time of staying at the Olde Griffin and it won’t be the last. A good traditional pub/hotel that caters for all ages. Our room was spotless every day, thanks to the hard working staff. All of the staff were cheerful and happy to help where needed. Food was of a high standard and reasonably priced. Thank you all for making our stay so enjoyable, we will be back.

Had a lovely stay at the Griffin, great food and a wide selection of drinks. The thing that really sets the Griffin apart is their staff, who were incredibly welcoming and go above and beyond to make sure everyone’s having a great time. Lovely, warm local meeting spot, can’t wait for my next visit

Pub
The Cock Inn is a fantastic bar with an amazing bartender named Damian. Despite being the only person left, he never made anyone feel unwelcome and even joined in the fun when invited. It's unfortunate that more customers weren't present to enhance the atmosphere. The people of March should make this their new local hangout! In another pub called Blackrock Steak restaurant, the customer service is top-notch, and all staff members are pleasant.
Now Blackrock Steak restaurant Great customer service, all staff very pleasant. The steak was lovely, plenty of side dishes come as standard, chips onion rings tomatoes side dishes. I ordered sirloin with prawns as optional extra with blue cheese sauce. Give it a try, won't be disappointed, definitely 5star

They have completed the upgrades extremely well. However I am not interested in sports so that left me cold. Prams with mothers and babies being cooed over whilst I am trying to read my book nah. I will be having pie and mash this week so may up my rating. Its called the Three Lions now.

Great barman, Damian, we ended up being the only ones left and he did not once make us feel like he wanted us to leave, in fact he came and joined us at our invitation and had us laughing within moments! It's a shame that more customers weren't around to add to the atmosphere, come on people of March, let's make the Cock Inn our new local!

Takeout Restaurant
Domino's Pizza - March is a popular food delivery and carryout chain that offers a wide selection of pizzas, as well as various other dishes and sides. The delivery service is known for its fast turnaround time, usually between 6-8 minutes. Interestingly, customers have observed that the quality of the food seems to be better during the evenings and nights, possibly due to different cooking methods.
Lovely pizza and we received our order quickly

Bought 2 large vegan pizzas here on Saturday..firstly they were over cooked .then I was disappointed they were like warm ..But the worst thing of all was the topping .smothered in tomatoes and hardly any topping .the vegan chicken pizza had 7 little spreads on .and the veg were cut so thin you could nearly see through them .how disgusting they were .I've personally used Domino's for years everywhere before tried the vegan .NEVER AGAIN WILL I USE DOMINOS .absolutely terrible

Quality control is awful. We order from here regularly and more than half the time my veggie supreme has arrived with chunks of chicken, pepperoni or ham on it. After the last time we decided enough is ENOUGH and we won't be ordering from this branch until quality control is improved. I have not had this issue with any other branch and it is unacceptable. The odd mistake like this is understandable but it's been happening almost every time we order recently.

Get pizzas delivered. Always turn up fast, hot and tasty

The food delivery time is quite fast, normally around 6-8 minutes. I've noticed that the food tastes better in the evenings and nights, and it looks like it's made differently. I'm not sure why, but it's good to know. I used to order more often, but I've been cooking more at home lately; however, for a quick and easy dinner, this place is definitely a good option. It's worth noting that delivery can be quite costly. Even with deals, you'll likely pay more than £20 for a single pizza. In comparison, collection can save you a lot of money, for example a large two-topping pizza costing less than £8.

The food is good but its the second time they have an item missing. Tonight it was the coleslaw, last time was the ice cream.

I placed an order and I was called by one of the members of staff telling me that they can’t make the food because of the amount of flies in the building due to the heat, cannot refund until 3-5 working days. What is that even about what restaurant is unable to make food because it’s “unsafe” as the lady said. Will not be ordering again if they can’t make food due to the amount of flies in the building

Pizzas were lovely but was quite disappointed to find the double decadence I'd paid extra for was next to none existent. Can you please make sure in the future that if someone pays for this extra that you actually put a decent amount in so they can actually taste it.🙄

Food was piping hot when it arrived, food was nice little pricey but tasty

Worst customer service, partner has NHS card but the so called manager said we cannot use this card as our order was part of a deal, nowhere on their web site does it state this cannot be used in conjunction with meal deals, I will be calling head office first thing Monday morning as I now have a hungry family, domino’s really need to employ people who understand the law and not cheap labour from overseas.
