Engaru-cho

Engaru is a town in the Okhotsk subprefecture of Hokkaido, Japan. The name comes from the Ainu place name Inkar-us-i, meaning a lookout point. Kamiyubetsu Tulip Park

Mentioned on
Park
Nature & Parks
Kamiyubetsu Tulip Park is a scenic destination featuring vast fields filled with an array of vibrant seasonal flowers, including tulips of various hues. The park boasts windmills and hosts an annual Tulip Fair, making it a delightful spot to visit in the springtime. Picturesque and charming, it is recommended to plan your visit during May and arrive early in the morning for optimal views.
This was very pretty, considering we were a bit late in the season. But it’s beautiful- plan your timing of visit right in May and in the earlier morning. The pictures speak for themselves.

Visited in Mid-May and the tulip fields were almost fully filled out. The park is beautiful and has a large variety of tulips along with a few other flowers. They have a huge free parking lot with bathrooms and admission is ~600 yen per person. We arrived ~4pm, an hour before close, so we didn’t have enough time to check out the little store. There were several other booths that are probably open during peak season. Also the pamphlet stated there’s a section to dig up your own tulip for 100 yen, as well as costume rentals for 500 yen, but we arrived too late to enjoy all the festivities. Definitely worth stopping by!

札幌からのH.I.S.
(Translated by Google) I went on the H.I.S. bus tour from Sapporo. It was a long journey anyway. If you go from Sapporo, you can see the peak of Daisetsuzan on your right behind the greenery. Various types of tulips are planted in the spacious tulip field on the flat land. There were many different colors of tulips, but there were also flowers with petals that I had never seen before, so I not only enjoyed the many tulips, but also learned a lot. Once the flowers have finished blooming, the flowers are picked, and then the bulbs are taken out of the soil, dried, and replanted. I thought it was just planting, but it seems like it took a lot of effort. Some of the flowers have already been picked, some are about to finish blooming, and some are about to bloom, so I guess we can enjoy blooming for a long time. There were other flowers besides tulips. There was an explanation in the building opposite the entrance, and bulbs were also sold there. It seems that the bulbs are shipped in autumn. There was a performance under the windmill, and everyone was relaxing there.

A place that makes you happy, very happy to see tulips of varies colours by the thousands or millions..... Felt like you are at Keukenhof garden in Amsterdam! Dun forget to see this in spring 2021.

Well worth the entrance fee and the flowers were beautiful. Considering a lot of other flower fields had not had flowers blooming yet as we were too early in the season, it was a relief we went to this place. It is definitely worth making a detour to travel to.

(Translated by Google) It is one of the Okhotsk flower corridors along with Takigami Park and Higashimogoto Shibazakura Park. Approximately 200 types of tulips were blooming on the vast, well-maintained grounds. The road is flat and easy to walk, so small children and the elderly should have no problems. Carts and shared train buses run around the park at a leisurely pace, so I think you can have fun with your family on nice days.

Not in full bloom right now (30 May) but still have quite a few tulips. Touristy place with Holland-ish architecture, including windmills. Lots of food choices here within the park as well. The food from the food court (pictured) isn't very nice though, and pricey. The restaurant is better but also nothing fantastic.

Beautiful tulip Park, entrance fee is 600yen..came on 19 May many tulips were already blooming. Had a good time taking photos here, probably just need around 1.5 hour to walk the whole park and take lots of photos. U can pick ur own tulip at a specific field for 100yen per tulip.

Maruseppu Station, an unmanned stop along the Sekihoku Main Line, lacks ticket purchase facilities. However, it boasts a pleasant waiting area with restroom amenities and houses a local library, which operates on weekdays, within the same building. We have been to this insectarium three times. My wife and I don't really like insects that much, but we always have a good time here. My children are interested in bugs and I always have lots of questions. The two people who work there are know EVERYTHING about insects and always spend lots of time answering our questions. The butterfly room is really cool and I am always amazed at how much work goes into breeding these butterflies which do not live very long.

(Translated by Google) I took my child who loves insects there. I was very excited to see the beetles and stag beetles that I always see in picture books on display. I've made many discoveries, including things that were bigger than I imagined when I saw them in the picture book, and things that were smaller than I expected. Although the facility is not large, it seems to be irresistible for insect lovers. August 2023 I even had a beetle and a rainbow stag beetle placed on my hand. I was allowed to touch Hercules. It wasn't there the last time I visited, so it may be something they do depending on the season. The staff are kind and provide detailed information. There were also tarantulas and grasshoppers.
