We didn’t want Chinese food while vacationing in Ireland, but every pub stopped serving food after 8 pm on a this Tuesday night. We were hungry and the 2 little greasy spots open were not appetizing to us. My family gave in to Chinese! We loved it!! Food was very good! Fried rice with shrimp and the orange crispy Chicken were so good! They were open until 9 pm. It was a clean restaurant and very good food! We were the only ones dining in. Lots of take out orders! Friendly service!!

Today we decided to take chinese takeaway,before we also took from here and very tasty, today i took the house of special( mixed meats) and this is something strange for the first time in this i found some strange meat like a chicken but not chicken strange taste, duck never seen in this dish,no prawns, taste awfull i was disappointed. servica was great and fast.

By far the best takeaway in Birr. I eat here regularly, and there isn't a single complaint I have. Beautiful food, authentic taste, fair prices, generous portions, lovely staff, food always ready on time. Zero complaints and would recommend this place to anyone!

The outside of the takeaway/restaurant is not very exciting, however the food is very good. I had Singapore noodles which were nicely spicy and filling. Worth a visit.

I went to the Loft with some friends, and I have to mention that the interior is really gorgeous. The employees were wonderful and really understanding, and everything was really neat and tidy! In my opinion, the food was average. Went there for lunch, and mainly served only sandwiches at that time. Wished to have more choice in food options. Deserts can also be purchased as well as handbags and furniture.

I had almond milk latte and scone there. Latte was just weird- it didn't taste pleasant and it was a bit lumpy. Scone was probably the best scone I have eaten in a while. Lady who served me was really really nice.

5 stars isn't enough this place is a proper hidden gem. The staff are so friendly and can't do enough for you. I had the black pudding salad and my wife had the salmon with capers and the food was out of this world. Portions are quite big but they packed it up for us and we will be having the rest for dinner so 2 meals in one. They have a funky gift shop too with some lovely items. If you are visiting Birr this is the spot to go for lunch.

Very slow. They stop serving between 12 and 12:30 to "clean up after breakfast"but will seat you and leave you waiting without notifying you. The menu's are like a dirty photocopied work sheet you'd get in primary school. €8.50 for a panini that you could get down the street in Emma's Café for half the price and in quarter the time. We waited so long for the food that our toddler wanted to go home when it finally arrived so we could barely enjoy it. When we went up to pay we were left waiting for a further 5mins before anyone came to take money. Waitresses whizzing by ignoring us while cleaning tables. Eventually the elderly blonde lady who took our order an hour before, came over. She charged us for 2 coffees and 2 scones which we never even ordered on top of our original bill. Always check your receipts!!

It's a lovely place, it's just really strange that there is not one single vegetarian item on the menu. There are a lot of sandwich options but every one has meat, it would be nice if there was at least one option (plain cheese/salad).

Enjoyed a beautiful meal with work colleagues. Staff were friendly and professional, atmosphere was lovely and food was delicious, with great sized portions. Highly recommended!

Only my second time at the Loft but knew when I visited here a few weeks ago that I’d be back , the food is fab and the staff are lovely . Their Pear & Almond tart hits all the right spots and the courtyard is a huge plus .

The Loft was the absolute perfect lunch spot for my dad and I after 15 hours of traveling! Adorable location, decor, and incredible food. Had the best fried brie dish of my life here!

My husband and I were passing through on our way to Achill and came across the Loft Café. I had the goats cheese & fig sandwich & my husband had the festive sandwich, tea and coffee came with our food and perfectly made to the right temperature. Food was much more than you would expect from a café, tasty and great value for money. We will be back and looking forward to it already.

On vacation from the US and thought we would give this place a try. Very different from the US version of Chinese food, but very enjoyable nonetheless. We got several different dishes and they all were tasty. Uploading a menu since there currently isn’t one.

Having broadened our horizons during Covid, we were recommended this Chinese restaurant. Wow is all I can say. A total success and we've been back more than once..... Beautiful food at reasonable prices. Great friendly staff who dont delay... Well worth the trip.

I don't really understand how this place has good ratings. Our food was disappointing, and some of the dishes were shockingly bad. Very strange combination of dishes, with mexican, Asian and Spanish..also the food came out too fast. Croquettes came out in 2 minutes and we're cold, and ribs came out in the same time, along with wings and prawns. This isnt McDonald's, why is all our food ready in 5 minutes? Bravas are not traditional and not what you'd expect when ordering them. Very poor food quality and obvious nearly everything is being made in the microwave. To top it off everyone who ate the prawns felt sick later. Some of the dishes were good, but I'd say this place offers a 3 out of 5 dining experience.

Our family of 5 stayed with Martin last night and we must say it was a most enjoyable experience, the rooms were spotless, homely and welcoming. The welcome we got was so warm. We would highly recommend a stay here.

Wasn't sure what to expect when going to this restaurant, but to say I and my party of 4 were very pleasantly surprised is an understatement. The restaurant wasn't very busy at 3pm on a Sunday which both surprised me and appeald to me. Our servers we beyond friendly and prompt with both our drinks and our courses. Having not been out for meal for quite a while both I and our party made pigs of ourselves and have no regrets about doing so. The choices on offer were fantastic for both the adventurer and the standard eater. The food was portioned just right and as you would probably have three if not four portions per person you could sample what ever your heart desires. There deep fried brie is to die for as is the cod goujons and the deep fried shrimp and the garlic mushrooms. The steak sandwich was the only slight disappointment but not so much as it would stop me having it again. But the star of the show for me was the deep fried onion rings I would eat them till I dropped and have no regrets. The desert menus had plenty of choice but the favourite was either the sticky toffee pudding or the Eton mess, the chocolate cake while nice wasn't to my taste. Overall we had a fantastic afternoon/ evening with delicious food and good service in a very relaxed warm environment what more could you hope for. This is going to be one of our regular restaurants to be revisited and revisited and revisited. Superb.

Had a lovely night there with my Mum and cousin on Mothers Day. Food fabulous, luscious and the dessert was unreal. Friendly, comfortable and relaxing ambience.

Beautiful old world style bar and restaurant. The food is excellent. Our favourite dessert Eton Mess which they do exceptionally well had been removed from the menu but they made it especially 6for us. Step goes over and beyond her role to make sure you are looked after. All staff are pleasant, friendly and helpful. Excellent hygiene. Had 2 very fussy eaters with me and they thought beef excellent. If they can satisfy those critics noone could find fault.

If there was more than 5 stars rating I'd give it here. We had our wedding reception here. Staff super, food unbelievable and great bang for your buck.

You could say there is otherworldly 'spirits' that live here. Like actually. My husband entered this bar and never came back. The last thing I hear him say was: "He's back"... But great food!

Went for lunch today to celebrate a birthday, the food was amazing. So tasty. Staff came out with a birthday plate and sang happy birthday was a lovely touch.The staff were friendly and nice and the owner came and chatted to us and the kids. Very homely atmosphere with fire lighting really cosy. We will definitely be back. Thanks for a lovely meal.

We we're passing on a trip out for the day and decided to call in for a meal. Phoned ahead before entering and staff were friendly and gave us the go ahead to come and dine. We were not dissapointed. All you hear positively about the food is true. Was wholesome well presented and plentiful. Staff although busy made sure we were well taken care of. The warm homely atmosphere within a place displaying a lot of history was and will be remembered. A return visit is definitely on the cards.

Stopped in here for food after being at the handball alley. Lovely dinner and very good portion size for the price. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Great pint also. Will definitely return if in the Crinkle area again.

My husband and i dined here last Wednesday night. What a great experience. It was so good. The lovely turf fire burning beside us was so comfortable. The food was very tasty. The staff could'nt have been better. I can't wait to visit again. Ps, the Christmas lights in the village were beautiful. Well done all round.

Have often passed the Thatch sign & thought to stop, but was always caught for time. Managed to find time this evening, on a cold winter's evening stopped and was met with a warm smile only surpassed by the open fires. Nice menu and great food. Looking forward to a return before too long.
