Pub
The Bugle Hamble is a traditional gastropub that boasts a charming ambiance with its spacious stone flagstones and vintage wooden floors. It is renowned for its impressive selection of specialty rum and beer. The pub offers both indoor and outdoor seating, although the latter is limited, so it is advisable to make a reservation beforehand. While currently offering a limited menu, there are still plenty of delightful options to choose from.
This was the best roast I can have since I can remember. If you are thinking of going anywhere else, do not. These guys saved the day when we had been forgotten about and left without food after an hour at a popular eatery on the waterfront. The smoked cauliflower cheese is out of this world. The veg was all cooked to perfection. The Yorkshire pudding is massive and homemade and crunchy! Beautiful private dining room upstairs. The pub has lots of character and a lovely outside area for warmer days!

My third visit here, the first being a group dinner in the private dining room upstairs. Very friendly service at all times. Historic location, good food and premium beers. Guests being served outside meant that the doors to the front bar were banging shut almost incessantly.

Lovely location, great food and excellent service.

We stopped in for a drink yesterday afternoon - the log burner was fired up and it was so lovely and cosy. The landlord / owner was full of so much charisma and joy, it felt like stepping into his home. We sat and played cards listening to a great playlist too, will definitely be back - the food all looked and sounded incredible too!

Went for a birthday lunch, had booked but there were a few empty tables. Only a small outdoor seating area though so would recommend booking. Serving a limited menu at the moment, but lots of lovely options. Food was excellent quality. We shared the arancini and crab croquettes to start. I had the minute steak for main, was actually thicker than I’d have expected and still nice and pink in middle, served with yummy garlic butter. My mum had a salad bowl with lots of fresh flavours and my husband enjoyed his dish and chips. Recommend the elderflower gin cocktail too!
Suzi Azor — Google review
Had the most amazing lunch yesterday. The food was delicious and the service faultless, even the dogs were spoilt with treats and sausages! Highly recommend. We’ll definitely return!

Lovely dog friendly pub and fantastic food. We'd been on a long walk by the sea with our Jack Russell and stopped here looking for something hot and tasty. Some of the best fish and chips I've had, perfect portion size and wonderful mushy peas! Will definitely come back.

Lovely place to eat. Well looked after, swift service and scrummy food. What's not to like?

Just delicious, local, well cooked food. The menu lists on the back a map of where (and the company names) they get everything from- including meats and potatoes etc. Had a burger and my god- the Patty was unreal, homemade. The brioche bread and salad- so fresh!! And with so much flavour. Even the fries had exceptional taste. The atmosphere in here is lovely. Cosy for winter - all wooden and fireplaces burning. Lovely. Service friendly, fast and great. Knocked down one point as the dessert (sticky toffee pudding) tasted almost vegan. Artificial or odd tasting (like sweetener) the ice cream a bit over and not as tasty. Also the food is a little pricey, a bit more Gastropub level prices. Would recommend for families, couples, friends. A good all rounder

Highly recommend, I only had their local Bugle Bitter beer & main course scallops and chips on the side. Incredible freshness & precisely cooked... Well done to all the staff 😁

Probably the best pub in the village. The service was top notch. A gentleman with an undisguised French accent interacted unobtrusively with the customers. Everything was very tasty. I recommend.

Visited friends who live in Hamble. Had a fabulous meal which was delicious. Pub was full of diners and the atmosphere was excellent. The server we had was delightful and her constant smile and attentiveness was very much appreciated. All in all a wonderful experience and we'll hopefully go again when we next visit. Highly recommend.

Had a lovely meal we book the captains table which was perfect. Staff were very attentive. Only fault is one of or group was vegan and there wasn't a lot of choice maybe would be better to have a couple more options on the menu.
Hilary Chandler — Google review
What a lovely pub! We had a fantastic afternoon here with our friends. The mixed starters, tagliatelle, pie, burger, were all excellent. Our very foodie friend, who really is difficult to please, said that it was the best burger he’s had in a long time. That is quite the statement. Great location, atmosphere and very friendly staff. Our dog, a vizsla, was delighted to find fellow Hungarians and lots of treats.

Banana Wharf Hamble is a contemporary eatery with an outdoor seating area that offers scenic marina views. Customers are greeted warmly by familiar staff and directed to newly designed dining sections. The cuisine is delightful, complemented by a lively ambiance. However, one server informed a guest that they had limited time to finish their meal and even insisted on the dessert menu before rushing them due to a prior booking.
Had a really nice lunch here. Food was excellent, really big portions, and very good quality, very tasty. Staff were brilliant and very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. I have only scored low on atmosphere as it was quite a quiet time when we visited. Great place to eat 👍
Jeremy Marsh — Google review
Set by the water in the marina the perfect setting for a lovely mid week lunch of fish and chips washed down with a glass of rose. My friend had the green Thai curry and thoroughly enjoyed that too. Lovely staff but a bit over stretched like most of hospitality atm.
Rae Pitman (The15milefoodie) — Google review
We visited Banana Wharf on a hot summers evening. The welcome was warm and friendly from the charismatic manager. It was a busy evening and the staff were perhaps less attentive due to this. We ordered the nachos and 2 blue cheese and truffle burgers with gluten free buns. The nachos said they were for 2 but I think 4 people could share these. The burgers were tasty and well cooked. We did have to wait for someone to ask us if we wanted our bill but it was busy as I said before. The deserts looked amazing but we were too full so may go back just for the ice cream Sunday. Overall it was lovely looking out over the water on a hot sunny evening. Well worth a visit. Update 15th April 2022. We've now been here 3 more times and it's a lovely place. Twice for fanatic breakfast and one for dinner. Great service and friendly staff.

My partner & I went in today for a look around with a view to eating there in the future. The staff were very welcoming and didn't mind us looking around at all. I look forward to eating there soon.
Victoria Gibbs — Google review
Lovely welcome from one of the more regularly known staff members. Greeted us to a table in their newly designed areas. The food was lovely and great atmosphere, but one young lady who was working, told us at the beginning we had basically an hour to eat then when we also asked for the desert menu she persisted to tell us that we only had 20mins till we had to leave as the table was booked. This is not acceptable, we should of been offered to move tables at least. We didn't order desert as we felt like we couldn't.

Really great spot for a nice dinner. You do have to pay a little extra for food here but the setting is lovely. Public car park next door which is free for three hours. I for the JD wings and ribs combo which was delicious, even if it was very messy.
Cam Melling — Google review
Extremely dog friendly, beautiful location on the marina and the staff are lovely and welcoming. Maddie is an absolute joy and a credit to the team, she made our lunch very enjoyable and she creates a lovely atmosphere.
Bethan Taylor — Google review
Lovely place by the water. We were worried that it would be full when we couldn't reserve a table for 1.30 or 1.45 on a sunny Saturday but on arrival there was more than ample space, so don't be put off and if driving a long way maybe just give them a call. Chicken katsu burger was just ok, but the green curry with chicken was lovely (and massive), and kids fajitas came with 3 tortillas and more than enough fillings for a grown adult so could potentially feed 2 kids. Service was decent, and views were lovely but think they just need to invest a tiny bit more into the decor (and cleaning of the disabled bathroom) to make this place as five star as the views. Full of potential, just requires a few tweaks - well done to the team on the efforts to-date! We will probably be back in future visits to the area.

Absolutely stunning view! You’re sat facing the waters and boats. Benches outside to sit and soak in the atmosphere. Lovely food choice and variety here as well. You’re almost spoilt with choice. The staff was helpful and responsive. They were happy to recommend best dishes considering the relevant allergies. Food was very tasty and timely. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Drinks were also brought in good time. Absolutely recommend

Came here for breakfast on mother's day morning, overall the food was good however this was let down by the front of house staff. Ordered drinks and were left waiting for some time before the wait was acknowledged, during which time no one asked to take our food order. Two of our breakfast orders were muddled up, so we had to move the food around on the plates at the table. We weren't offered any more drinks at any point, and at least one member of our party left thirsty. It felt like it was bar service only and we were an inconvenience for stopping staff if they went past, even though it is table service. Staff were constantly moving/scraping chairs around on the floor, which made it difficult to hold a conversation as it was so loud, and such a shame in such a tranquil location. Once we were finished, a member of our party had to go looking for a staff member for the bill, to find several sat around a table. Unfortunately we paid the bill in a rush and didn't realise there was a service charge added on automatically, otherwise we certainly would have taken this off. Maybe a case of staff knowing they would get tipped without giving any customer service? Worth noting that it was not especially busy either. Disappointed to have picked here for a family outing, will go elsewhere in future.

Friendly and super service. Good food, but I am looking forward to trying more of the menu next time I visit. The sourdough bread starter deserves special mention! Absolutely delicious, and fantastically presented.
Randhir Hothi — Google review
Nice spot for a sunny day with outdoor seating over-looking the marina. The food was very nice, however we did have a very long wait. Apparently the chef was having a bad day and we ended up waiting an hour or so for the food! When the food did come, though, it was delicious and very well presented. The staff were very apologetic and offered a discount. The blue cheese & truffle burgers were a hit, the Thai green curry was nice and the steak and salmon also looked good. We would definitely come back for the food + the view.

Absolutely stunning!!!!! The staff where super friendly. What an amazing place to find. And to have waitresses and waiters make you feel so special is definitely hard to find these days. Thank you for such a beautiful special lunch. We will be back soon!!!!!

Really attentive staff. Had a lovely Sunday roast and they're very generous with the portions. Churros are amazing highly recommended! Decent price for the amount of food we had. Dog friendly place and they even have a dog menu so adorable!

Service was excellent, atmosphere outside overlooking the water with a refreshing pint, it was so enjoyable. This was a treat. We rode up on our bicycles from bike path and got a table right away. Very clean men's bathroom with great smelling hand soap 👍 Nice touch. No pictures on this review, however I will be back for food and will post them soon.

I stopped here on a lovely summer afternoon with my husband and family for some drinks. It has such a beautiful and cozy outdoor patio, with plenty of seating, lots of lush plants and flowers, and overhead canopies and umbrellas to keep us cool. We only had drinks, so I can't speak to the food. But the drink menu was extensive enough. I had a Mortimer's berry cider that was delicious and refreshing. Cheers!

Steak night! I love this place. My parents lived nearby for several years so this became popular, I visited again with my brother last night. Food is great, Thursday was steak night and we had the Tomahawk to share. A great selection of beers, cider and wine before moving on to the rum! The staff are great and I look forward to going back. Adding an old fashioned to the menu would get it six stars.....

Have been here many times in the past but not for a while. Came for a drink to meet up with a friend. Always a nice chilled vibe here. Nice ambience. Seating inside or outside. Inside tends to be nice and cozy. The toilet is located downstairs. There is a little area to sit down a level at the back of the pub too. Parking is down in the main village car park. Friendly staff who are very attentive and helpful. Do like a visit here. Been too long!

First time to day at the King and Queen. Had dinner in the garden. Very polite and friendly service. Order taken promptly . Drinks served soon after. Food after cooking time. Nicely presented and tasty. Inside and outside seating. Good range of food. Two pay carparks one as you come in to the village one by the river and ferry . Road down quite steep and a bit uneven.

Went for their pizza night. Lovely pizza, cooked fresh to order in their outside stone oven. The garden had a cosy atmosphere and staff very kind and responsive. Would go again when next in the area.

Stopped here on a whim on a sunny Saturday afternoon and we were seated quickly. I ordered the chicken shawarma and it way surpassed my expectations. It was delicious and there was so much chicken, the chips were fab too! Great beer garden, lots of tables and pretty lights.

Several times we have walked past the King and Queen pub with every intention of having a meal in there. Yesterday was the day. Was happy with the seating outside, the staff were friendly and quickly took our order. I chose the Sunday roast pork, my Wife the haddock and chips with mushy peas. The meals arrived in good time. However, this is where the good experience ends. The roast potatoes were very well done on the cusp of being burnt. The pork was so so, certainly nothing to boast about. And the vegetables not really any better (I had to ask for the vegetables as they weren't brought out with my meat dish)!! The only thing I will say is the crackling was very nice but for nearly £17 I was very disappointed. My Wife's haddock was tasteless and oily, and she did say for less cost she's had a better fish and chips. We were very surprised to see they'd added on a service fee, which we did pay but incredibly reluctantly. Our first and last visit. Never again

During a visit to Hamble, I had the pleasure of dining at Ye Olde Whyte Harte pub. The establishment exuded warmth and friendliness, creating a welcoming atmosphere for patrons. The cuisine was of high quality and the service was exceptional. They even extended their hospitality to our furry friends, offering water and biscuits for our dog. The presence of a magnificent log fire added to the mesmerizing ambiance.
We had lunch in this pub while visiting Hamble and found it very hospitable and friendly. The food was good and the service excellent. Our dog was also given a warm welcome with water and biscuits. We were mesmerised by the giant log fire and enjoyed our experience at Ye Olde Whyte Harte thanks Charlie for making us feel so welcome.

We ate & drank here a few times whilst visiting Hamble recently. We came for the HSB which was well kept, served at a good temperature & delicious. There were also 3 other ales which were all good but we kept returning for HSB. We had a lunch and a dinner here & food was good pub grub, tasty & hot but nothing exceptional. However, having seen a couple of pies come out which looked amazing I would definitely order one if we visited again. It was friendly pub with both bar staff & customers ready for a chat. Get a bit more "localish" then some of the pubs in Hamble which we really liked. Dog friendly to boot so all I all very pleased it was our nearest pub.
Clanat Andrews — Google review
We love this pub, however are disappointed with our recent visit of bar staff serving us drinks is filthy glasses (they had lipstick around them) and under experienced staff. There’s lots of competition in Hamble so this kind of thing is important. The pub itself and in particular the little garden is wonderful, just don’t let standards slip!
Amy Ford — Google review
We have been here quite a few times, everything, especially the food was great. But something has changed. More recent reviews reflect this. We ordered 2 meals, both were wrong. Asked for chunky chips got mash. The menu said chunky chips with the burger, got skinny fries. We had to get the menu to prove it. The burger bun was basic , previously it was ace. Seasonal vegetables were frozen peas, so one vegetable then. The waitress was really apologetic, not her fault we know but she was taking the flack from others and us, she was 5 star. Beer still good. We understood it was day 2 for the kitchen, but it wasn't busy and these were not difficult orders. Don't eat here I would say until things get ironed out, have a drink in the lovely garden/pub and see if it's get better first.

Nice older location with a warm, inviting interior. The staff were friendly and were good at chatting. Service was prompt and my food came out quickly. Didn't have time to partake in a full meal but I did enjoy my Whitebait which also was the first time I've tried the dish. It was quite tasty and I definitely would eat it again. Nice location and it was an easy walk. I'd recommend a visit to this pub!

Friendly and cozy atmosphere makes the Whyte Harte staff a great classic pub. Worth checking out garden and potting shed which have been transformed for summer. For food, delicious roasts on Sunday and quick supper of fajitas earlier in the week.

The Victory is a traditional local establishment made of red bricks, featuring wooden floors and beams. It offers a pub-grub menu with occasional themed items. The staff is known for being very friendly and informative. They have implemented a good one-way system and readily provide hand sanitiser for customers' convenience. There is a wide selection of beers and ciders available, and the food is described as delicious with generous portion sizes for the price.
We had my husbands 40th here last night. There was 27 for a sit down meal which is a lot to take on. Food was nice and hot on serving. We all had a fab evening! The staff couldn’t have done enough for me, from arriving to decorate in the afternoon til leaving at closing. I’d like to thank the staff accommodating us all!

Lovely attractive village pub close to the quayside and all the local marinas. We just popped in for a quick drink so didn't eat, but pub was busy with locals and many dogs, so popular with dog owners. Lovely friendly atmosphere, very spacious additional seating area for dining and a nice beer garden. I understand that it has recently changed management, and it looks like they're off to a cracking start, I wish them well.

Popped in with some friends for a quick bite. The food was acceptable, but the whole experience was marred by the incredible pricing. £4.20 for a small glass of coke is one example. There are far better places to eat and drink in the vicinity - walk past The Victory and choose another spot.

My husband and I visited recently with our daughter in laws. I have to say that this was probably the nicest pub visit we have had in an age. The food was good and it was mid day and not too busy. The waitress was northern and due to go on holiday - we could not have wished for a nicer member of staff. You should treasure her. In fact all staff fantastic. We will be back.

Very friendly and informative staff. They have a good one way system and hand sanitiser readily available. Good range of beers & ciders and the food was delicious! Great portion sizes for the price, too. Space for us to keep our bikes close and lots of tables outside, both in shade and some great sun spots, also! The draught lines tasted very clean and general hygiene inside was excellent. Definitely be back when we're in the area again!

One of the best Sunday lunches I’ve had in ages. Forgot to post a review last Sunday. I’ve had worse in quality restaurants. Awesome meal and great friendly staff. Proper old pub feel at same time. Spend of £30-£40 per person was inclusive of desert and 3 drinks each. 👍🏻

Had a lovely roast dinner (huge portion), had the option to have a side of cauliflower cheese or pig in blankets but the dishes we saw coming out, we knew we didn’t need a side. The service was great, really friendly and attentive. Not bad value for money. £40 2x roast pork with loads of veg, Yorkshire pud & apple sauce (+ extra gravy) and 2x alcohol free drinks. Would’ve loved a desert but were just too full!
