Goa Chitra Museum presents the true culture and life of the people in Goa. It was a great experience to relive old memories while walking down the paths of the museum. The tour guide was very fluent with the information that she shared and created an interactive space for us. It was refreshing to see passionate and young tour guides energetically take us around all the 3 museums. This work of one man to collect &moreover maintain over 40,000 objects is highly commendable and valued ! We need more people aligned with a similar vision to conserve the past to enrich all our futures!

After days at the beach, visiting historical temples and churches, visit this museum to experience four hundred years of Goan history at this small but well maintained private museum. The museum has a large number of artefacts with various sections related to transportation from the past, hospital, and surgical instruments (ancient posters educating locals about hygiene and ways to stop the spread of infections). Kitchen pots and pans, kerosene stoves, distilleries, musical instruments, Hindu and Christian items of worship, a model steam engine, clocks, phewwww, the list is endless. The guide who showed us around was very clear and knowledgeable and kept the group well entertained and informed. Everyone and their children thoroughly enjoyed the visit.

This museum is a mind blowing experience. Definitely worth the visit and time. Give yourself at least an hour to immerse yourself here. The guided tour is a part of the package and helps you understand the collection better. Can't thank Sushant enough for his very entertaining, engaging explanations. He is very patient with questions and entertains queries with so much dedication. If you're in a hurry, don't visit the museum. It deserves the time. The curator has collected more than 40,000 objects from across the country which requires patience and time. Also, not sharing too many photos, since the exhibits need to be seen in person and photographs do no justice to them.

Well maintained museum having 3 different sections. The guided tour was really good and descriptive. 1 hour would be enough time to walk through and know about Goan cultural things and other various heritage objects kept in the museum. Recommend to visit if you want to explore Goa other than beaches.

The museum is a wonderful experience for people who would like to know the indonportuguese culture history and way of living. The ticket is a bit pricey i would say given you can finish the route in 30 -45 mins. The best part is you shall be provided a guide who shall take you through every corner of the museum and explain its relevance

Goa Chitra Museum is a doorway to the past. Well preserved artifacts are divided into three sections for better understanding and a peek into the Goan way of living before modernization. We were fortunate enough to meet the curator/owner of the collection, Mr Victor Hugo Home, who explained the idea behind his project and the presentation. Instead of adding plaques with the information about each article, there is a guide. Our guide, Tracy was knowledgeable and made our visit to the museum all the more interesting and personal. This is a little gem of a museum 😀 in South Goa! Must visit place - you must take out at least 2 hours for this museum tour. Tickets priced at 300, kids charged half - which is all worth it. I believe crowd management can be a bit better.

Very interesting place. Though it looks small from outside. It's a vast place sprawled in 4 buildings. Well maintained and displayed antiques and equipment of olden times The guide is very informative and patiently explained each item displayed there.

Not an easy find, but it's tucked amidst a serene way in the beauty lanes of goa. There are 3 museums as part of the entire experience that is guided as part of the entry fee that's Rs 300/- per person. As per your choice of language, i.e. English, hindi or goan the tour is given. The museum has various rare artefacts that date back to the 17th era, mostly from the time goa hadn't received independence. It shares the tools used for cooking, warfare, hospitals, music, and even commute. Right from the religion intricacies followed to daily means of living, customs and unknown nuances across cultures pertaining to different states of the country are displayed here. Since there is a lot to show and very little space you might find it a little cramped up but the entire guided experience is indeed fun for people who love museums and are truly inquisitive about the evolution of man and his toys across sectors. The tour is approx 45 mins for all three museums and you can go through it at ease. There is a cute cafe as well for some chilled drinks and light food. Must visit museum!

It was an amazing experience to witness such a huge, private collection of antiques of eras gone by. Mr Victor Hugo Gomes, the owner, is an artist, collector, and restorer, and we had the great opportunity to meet and talk with him. It was both interesting and informative to see the three museums - Goa Chitra, Goa Chakra, and Goa Cruti. Each artifact holds a story.. and our guide Ashika helped us to understand all of it as we wove through a treasure trove of relics so lovingly and painstakingly collected and displayed. Time stood still as we were transported back to times where developments were achievements. The ticket is for Rs 300/- per person, which includes all the 3 museums and a guide. Worth it .. Would love to visit again.

Goa Chitra is one of my favourite museums. Most museums stress the chronology of events, which can be boring. Goa Chitra is about lived history. It is also for people who are curious about how objects are designed. Tiny innovative objects that are used over and over again and then get forgotten as society moves on. They encapsulate lived history better than anything that can be found in books. Through objects that were used in daily lives, the museum gives you a sense of how Goans have lived their lives through the centuries. The highlight is the transport section of the museum where you can see the range of different types of carts people in India have used to travel. In Goa Chitra, you travel both across space and across time.

This Museum is an ambitious and grand vision of an individual collector. It is unimposing, nestled in the village of Benaulim but opens up into 3 separate collections - Kruti, Chakra and Chitra. I found Chakra with its amazing collection of traditional carts and modes of transport as well as some carts of colonial times from all over the country the most fascinating. It was also the most well displayed. Chitra was devoted to Goan agrarian life. The collection was extensive but could be better display or arranged. Kruti the section which presented Portuguese living in Goa could be better curated. The museum ticket includes a guided tour and our guide Alfonso courteously explained all the exhibits. If you want to experience Goa beyond the beaches and the food, Goa Chitra provides a nice glimpse of its history and culture along with some older modes of transport as bonus. Well done Victor Hugo Gomez.

This museum is a must visit place if you really want to go back in time. What a collection! The owner himself collected all the artifacts over the years. It's really unbelievable. There are a total of 3 different museums that get covered in a single ticket of Rs. 300 per peson. A personal guide is provided, which is a great thing. Property is very well maintained.

I love this Shree Damodar Temple in Margao Goa.. This is very beautiful temple near Damodar Circle or Nehru stadium in Margao Goa.. There is very fresh, peaceful, energetic and positive atmosphere.. There is positive vibes around you.. I feel like my home and my mind connect with good vibes.. There is very co-operative Pujari and they take care of God.. They are praying for us and giving blessings to all of us.. I like this beautiful temple and I attended aarati and this is unforgettable memories for me and my family.. Thank You 🙏🥹🌼

This temple is located at the Fatorda stadium back road. It holds very significant value and observes alot of devotees .A lot of fairs happen here and people visit them with utmost devotion and joy.

The temple is situated beside a very busy highway but yet you feel peace of mind when you are inside. Specially, on days other than Monday, it is too calm.

A super shive temple....the staff are inhuman for they made me pray from out side... standing on the concrete payment which is boiling hot temperature. They had allowed only 8 people inside for darshan. Rest of us have to stand in the brain boiling sun. Am from south where the temples are huge & well sheltered ...the staff pamper you. Well in this Goan temple near the margoan stadium I felt like an outcast.

A must visit if you are in Mudgaon, a busy market, with all the bakery products, garments to handicrafts to vegetables to cashews to fashion stores to spices. The market closes from 1-4 pm and explains the laid back culture. Friendly shopkeepers. Fish masala, vinegar, Bolia,and other goan food you can pick. One must certainly visit when you are in Goa.

Not much is left of the Rachol Fort except this gate. Well, it isn't really the structure but the stories this gate hold, leading into historic village of Rachol! A very scenic walk and village passing through this gate.

Old heritage site with church close by. Just a drive through for the church and old bridge. Roads are a bit narrow here. Church is amazing but was closed. Well maintained and also has a cemetery attached. Rachol must be worth visit during monsoon. Very peaceful village.

An ancient gate belonging to the Portuguese times. It is a protected monument and goes through the heart of the Rachol village in South Goa. There are interesting stories around how the gate was constructed.

I visited this long standing restaurant housed in a nice old colonial building. It was quiet when I arrived at 7pm ish I think only one other table was occupied (see photo|) I entered and greeted the staff with a friendly 'hello', not a single one of them responded with a smile or a greeting. As the evening progressed the place got busier (see photo) and I was perplexed to see that none of the other patrons, tourist or local, were welcomed warmly either, nor do you see a smile from the staff at any point during service. This detracts from the good food and ruins the dining experience, thus my review scores. Background music was from a bygone era (1960s?) which would've been charming had the staff been friendlier.

Great food. Nothing pretentious. Its about simple flavours and fresh food. Its been there since 1950 and you just cant go wrong after 70 years! Try the bakery items and the breakfast items for sure. The eclairs is to die for. Also everything is fairly priced.

Hi...Went to Longuinho's on a rainy night in July. It's in the market area in Margao. Got parking easily. The place was getting renovated, so we went to a smaller room by the side. Started with squid batter fry, then had pork chilly with rice, and finished with a caramel custard. See the pictures. A multi cuisine restaurant with local specialities, regular Indian and Chinese.

I have visited this place a couple of times, this restaurant is located in a landmark building and has its presence since 1950 in Margoa. Located in the central area of Margoa town, from railway station it is less than 3 KM and from the bus stand 2km. Menu is bit expensive and the quality is outstanding. Continental and goan recipe food available, pork, chicken and beef receipes are made available. It is a nonAC restaurant and staff are working for ages in this restaurant hence you can expect their behaviour also will be stone age culture. Parking not available you need to find space in public parking in and around the restirant. Overall good and food quality is Outstanding.

After 30 yrs went with my wife n mother in law after 40 years patronized this old Goan restaurant We ordered beers, fish fingers, tandoori chicken, beef steak n pork chops. The restaurant's legendary status is well-deserved, mainly for the food and atmosphere. The service leaves a lot to be desired - it has that vibe that most legendary places anywhere in the world have "Not doing us a favour by visiting here". I live in Pune and see this attitude in old-world eateries here too. The staff has been there for years, the business is secure and they are rigid in their ways, hence. The highlight is ofcourse the delicious food - from the savory beef patties and croquettes, Ham n Cheese sandwich to the tantalizing serradura dessert, each dish was a testament to the place's legendary status. A vegetarian friend had accompanied us and he attested to how good even something as basic as Dal Tadka and Rice was.

Been coming for for almost 30 years and though it hasn't changed very much I still love it. It's in the heart of crazy Margao but it's great and has now been host to 3 generations of my family. A must visit when we fly over to Goa. Situated at the corner of a busy intersection and diagonally opposite Margao market area, this place is easy to locate. The decor is kind of rustic, tracing back to a by-gone era, easy on the eye though. The food is typically Goan. Pork and fish dishes we ordered, were tastefully done. Reasonable, sufficient portions. The service is efficient. Though the servers could do with smiling more often:)

We tried the prawn croquets stuffed with cheese, chilly and crab which was good.. would recommend a different dip for it though..the sweet chilli dip didn't work for me. We also tried the pork momos which were a bit oily. And the beef roulade was a bit salty but was cooked well.

We had to rush for our Sunday lunch but this place was ready. Beautiful ambience though wish could enjoy it more. We had informed that we needed quick service because we had a train to catch. Surprisingly the food came not only quickly but delicious drop dead! Beef crispy-pork fry-chicken stuffed with spinach & cheese ; we also had Gadbad but don’t have a photo of it. My cousin booked them for his wedding a few years ago, and after tasting their food and seeing how things were handled, I looked at my mother and said, hands down, I'm booking them for my wedding! We met to discuss, and the owner suggested a few new dishes, which we tried. When my fiancé took a bite, he looked at me with a big smile and said, "Damn! This is delicious. 🤤" When we were leaving after the meal, the owner stated, "I guarantee that you and your guests will all be satisfied with the food." And he was correct. Everyone went on and on & raved about the food and service!! The waiters made sure people were served and also there was a special waiter who made sure we were served with snacks n were hydrated as we danced our heart out. Couldn't have been happier! I made the right choice!! Definitely recommended!!!

Had a cpl of hours in Margao and looking for a place to grab lunch, was recommended Peppers and ended up having a lovely quick bite there. Lovely restuarant, quaint and giving a very hill station feel with wooden beams and all and perched on the corner of a slightly uphill road . Menu was extensive, staff attentive courteous and helpful. Welcoming decor and of course the food was delicious. Flavourful tasty and moderately priced.

Location is away from the city, situated in a old Goan house makes it an authentic feel to have Goan food, good taste in all the dishes we tasted and service was excellent.

Very homey aesthetic and quite a good portion size of the food as well. Four of us order 3 items and it was a good enough amount of food . Roast chicken (mushroom sauce) with mash & sauteed veggies - Chicken was really really perfectly cooked and there was like almost 1 and 1/2 giant chicken breast on there. You definitely definitely appreciate the portion size of the chicken! Vegetables were also well. Sauteed and actually tasted really nice plain. It was a mix of green beans, corn, peas and a little bit of broccoli and cauliflower. Very generous amount of vegetables as well and I appreciate that. Potato mash was also smooth and tasty. My sister had most of it. She definitely liked it. Only complain and a little bit of a big complaint here is that the mushroom sauce was too salty! I barely ate any of that sauce to be honest. Mac & Cheese - Was absolutely amazing! So cheesy and creamy and a very distinct kind of cheese used here in the sauce. Not the classic cheddar that makes it bright orange but it was more of a white mac and cheese but whatever it was it was really nice. Chicken Lasagne - did not try this one but friends really enjoyed it. And they finished the entire thing! Both pasta dishes came with some garlic bread on the side. Looked really appealing but I think they use too much butter so tasted like quite a mouthful of butter toast.

Absolutely love this place. Pet friendly, young crowd, good music, outdoor seating. The service is great, but the staff can definitely use some help, especially over the weekend. We ordered English breakfast and the waiter was patient in taking down all our individual preferences. Poutine chicken French fries is a must try as well. 3 levels of seating, but I personally prefer sitting outdoors.

One of the best cafe’s in goa. From the outside you’ll feel this place won’t be that great but when you’re in it, the Staff and the food will definitely change your mind. The staff is very friendly and you get real great food here. The cafe has loads of variety and almost everything tastes so good. Suggestions: Ice tea pitcher (my forever drink), Aj’s special wings, lasagna, pork ribs

A great place for continental food in Margao. Tried their veggie pizza and marinara pasta and both were amazing. This is a house converted into a restaurant and the ambiance is very homely. They have books, games and a inhouse doggo. The service was good. All in all, loved this place. Will visit again soon.

Unique goan restaurant for delicious food. The burgers are so so delicious and better than any other restaurants. I was missing the American joint brisket today and we got a place with the same taste as them. One of the best restaurants in south goa for mouth watering bites. Recommended for all food lovers. Best thing is that this place is pet friendly and you can get your pets inside. We met Jackie the owners per dog who was so friendly, calm and obedient. Nice place to hang out for all. Also, great service received from the staff and I should say the chef is too good.

I was skeptical of finding authentic tasting continental food as many restaurants do not maintain a consistency of flavors. However a reluctant visit to AJ's changed My whole perception & made Me fall in love with continental food again. Chef & Owner Ashley has got the Menu & Flavors bang on. Enjoyed every dish we ordered; Well Done Beef Stake, Bangers & Mash, Chicken Cheesy Pasta, Spicy Chicken Wings & Banaofee Desert were Excellent. Leon was very helpful & a delightful person managing the show under Ashley. Ashley should add a couple of Refreshing Continental Salads to the menu. Overall our appetites were satiated & food was very light on the stomach. Would highly recommend for folks looking out to enjoy good wholesome Continental Food.

As soon as we entered AJs, we were welcomed by their pet, which was calmly sleeping at the entrance. They have a table which is outside and seatings on the ground floor also. We ordered Mac n Cheese, Margherita pizza, and prawn n chips with lemon ice tea pitcher. To start with, lemon ice tea is so refreshing that it just made our day. It's a must-have with anything that you have. Mac n cheese is so creamy n so cheesy you won't be able to resist yourself. Prawn n chips were yummy 😋. I'm not a fan of thin crust, so I didn't enjoy the pizza much, but they made it well. Overall, the vibe, food, and service were well balanced. Will visit again :)

We visited this place for brunch on a random day! Parking is a problem but the food is worth it. The pizza was authentic and tasty. Spaghetti aglio e olio was okayish but lasagna could have been better. There was less cheese in the lasagna. The service was good, they even suggested things we could taste or have in a better way. They gave us jar full of lemon ice tea! 😂 We tasted vegetarian dishes only.

Good food, generous portions, value for money, great ambiance, friendly staff and quick service. Only negative I can think of is that the bread was a little dry. Otherwise great experience

This was our second trip to Goa and we were at South Goa just to visit again to AJ's. Variety of veg and nonveg food offered. We have ordered pizza from AJ's to Madgaon railway station, thanks to the owner who came to deliver it with big smile. Will definitely visit again and again to AJ's.

The place is part of the house and its rooftop converted into a restaurant. The decor is retro conventional and simple. Not a place for your dinner date. On the other hand, if you are looking for some amazing food, look no further. On a Friday morning, there were not many people but practically everyone was a local Goan. As they say, the best places to eat is where the locals eat. Based on the number of Google reviews, I ended up ordering an English breakfast. I must say it was one of the yummiest English breakfast I have eaten in a while. All the items, as expected, were conventional,but each one of them were perfectly done and very tasteful. The sunny side up, the chicken sausages and the bacon were really amazing. The whole deal was quite filling and came with a cup of tea or coffee. The service was prompt and the staff/owners are happy to serve you. Do note that it is a pet friendly restaurant, so be prepared to find a couple of canines on the ground floor. Overall a good value for money place.

I ordered a mutton rara gosht, masala baingan and jeera rice. The portions are generous, unfortunately I would say the food lacked punch, the flavours were ok but not exceptional. I had to order extra green chillies to get the kick I had wanted from what should have been one of their spicier curries. A little disappointing from a restaurant called "Spicy". The waiter service was good.

Visited Spicy after almost 3 years and it still remains one of my favourite spots for Thalis. I tried the chicken thali this time round and I enjoyed the xacuti curry the most. We also ordered a plate of Rawa-fried Bombay Duck fish and it lived up to our expectations. The ambience was lovely and facilitated by some good Goan music. I had a lovely time at Spicy and will certainly recommend the same to all.

Very reasonable and fresh fish available here. We ordered 2 chonok thali and was sufficient for 4 ppl. In starter we ordered prawns fry, lepo fish, clams. Everything was delicious. In dessert we had caramel custard Bill cost for 4 was around 2100.

I simply enjoyed the food that is served here. My favourite has been Chonak Rava Fry, Prawns, Paneer Rava fry and the King fish thali. This is a must visit place for people looking for authentic Goan restaurants in Margoa.

Superb food with reasonable prices. A great family restaurant in margaon centre. The ambience and food are both superb. We have tried a few chicken snacks and chicken tandoori is a must try. I feel this place is overrated.. It's supposed to be goan however it's a disappointment. The price you pay for something like that is a shame on a goan. It sure was an awesome place, once upon a time. Today I do not recommend it to any tourist who wants to try an authentic goan meal. There are better places for fish thali with taste and quality. Prawns were smelling King fish not cooked well Modso terrible Price, bumper Fresh lime soda from a sugar factory Chicken lollipop dry But Service awesome Ambience good You can also have a drink there for yourself.

Very nice restaurant in the middle of city , nice food good drinks and good for family . My server Sarfaraz was very good . He served us well . Definitely we will visit again . Kingfish thali was proper Goan taste .

We tried the Chonak Fish Thali and it was great! Flavors were yum and portions were good too. Not the best fish thali I've had in Goa, but the best in the south for sure! Service was kind and helpful and there wasn't any delay in the arrival of food either. 9/10

The best Crab masala I have ever had...we had also ordered the king fish thali, honey chicken and Thai BBQ chicken...we washed this down with some tamarind soda which was the cherry on top...thank you for a wonderful lunch @team Spicy restaurant n the amazing service though we came late

Tasty food, quick service. Quantity should increase. Not far from the Railway station. Rickshaw stand is just outside the restaurant.

The food was not good. I ordered fish curry rice. The curry was blended and probably old fish. Gave to the cat. The bean veg was so cold And it took more than 40 min for the food. Not so welcoming

Had my daughter's first birthday celebrated here in 2012 as a private party in the afternoon. Was very disappointed with the size of portions of food served. Main course was less and although we had paid for 250 guests, about 20% guest had less food. Ice cream cups were so small that even kids were surprised. Bottled water brand was unheard of not reliable. We had a few outstation guests and we lost face to them for such low quality food. Spoke with the owner, an elderly gentleman who acted innocent and lost but very happily accepted the full money. Just a horrible place to have private parties as you can do nothing once they start serving the food.

The place takes you by surprise, situated in a quite lane, where you least expect to find a restaurant. The menu boasts of elaborate Goan cuisine. The fish cutlet was good. Pork vindaloo - excellent! The server, well mannered, ensured we were well taken care off. Excited to try their elaborate pork menu, the next time we visit Margao.

This place is absolutely unique. It is a cool shady Haven of tranquility amidst the hustle and bustle of Margao. You would never believe you were sitting outside in a bustling city in 40 degree heat. It's fabulous and Francis is always so helpful. Food is fine, had better but it's tasty. This place really has to be experienced.

A nice spot for a drink, it's got an open garden seating with trees surrounded, the crowd is decent, the food is pretty decent too but the quantity is very less on some items which we ordered as compared to most of the other restaurants. The staff was nice and the service was prompt. Would definitely visit back.
