Atmosphere OK. Service a bit slow. Burger returned as was still pink inside. Rest of food OK. Staff not happy with me raising this and chef asked staff to tell me it was cooked. Fish and chips good sized portion and triple pies very nice

First time visit, genuine friendly welcome, following covid guidelines and procedures. Fantastic service, clean well presented pub restaurant, food cooked to order. Our breakfast arrived together and hot, good quality products used. Look forward to our next visit. 4th July 2021 Visited today (2nd time) Sunday lunch, fantastic meal, cooked beautifully, very friendly atmosphere and professional service. Noticed a couple of other people with accessibility needs which didn't phase anyone, plenty of room for all. The lady who serviced me was brilliant and the chap who checked my reservation for tomorrow (Kane) was spot on too. Look out chef, we'll see you at 10 !

A few people have mentioned to me that this place is a good place to take the kids. Staff were quick to seat us and very welcoming. Kids eat three courses for £5 and to be fair the portion seizes on the mains and puddings were pretty good. The place was clean and tidy and although it started to get busy in this bank holiday in school holidays the staff were on it and quick to serve and clean tables. Only one thing was that the lock on the males toilet door didn’t work l, but the toilets themselves were well maintained. Overall, for a family of 5 with drinks, the price was £50 so pretty spot on. A good place to take the kids for a quick bite

Visited here today for Mothers Day and I must say I was very impressed with the food and the service. Staff are very attentive, polite and not pushy whatsoever. Food was very nice indeed and well prepared and cooked. I will definitely be coming back.

We dined on a Sunday afternoon about between 4 and 6 when the place was relatively quiet. Our server was fantastic, very attentive, friendly and even changed our table for one in the window. The food overall was very tasty, however, could've maybe had a few more fries on the side. Prices were very reasonable, the menu I'd say, had something for everyone! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming and started getting busier as we were finishing up. Definitely worth a visit. We had the smothered chicken x4, fish and chips and the double burger. Will come again

Our visit was lovely , we had to stop for a quick lunch , the place was very nice, food quality was good. My husband was having an online meeting and the girls were accommodating , found a nice quiet table , nice with the little one gave some activity sheets to entertain. We tried the new tramissu flat white was lovely tasted like Irish latte in a sense . The pri pri chicken was lovely , juicy, good for money. Kids meal is super saver , 3 courses for £5 ! The brownie in kids menu tasted superb and they kindly put in a takeaway case . Will definitely try again 😊

Our visit was OK today. I had the macaroni bites to start, which were good.. my mum had the soup of the day, was told it was carrot and coriander, but it turned out to be tomato and it was cold/luke warm, but she was hungry, so didn't want to make a fuss. Our mains were OK, I had the mixed grill and was asked how I wanted my steak, to which I asked for rare.. it wasn't rare, but it seemed to be getting busier, so again didnt say anything. We were asked if we wanted sauces with our main meals, which we did.. but this got forgotten, so we had to go and remind them. There didn't seem to be many staff working. Have had better visits here.. I can't say we will be rushing back

Fodd was spot on. Cooked right no complaint and very tasty. Service was great, served swiftly. I imagine maybe a little different when busy but was quiet when we came. Very happy to come again

Food taking too long to get to the table….after 10 hours at work, to wait 45 mins for a starter its quite a bit, indeed the main followed straight after…been staying at hundreds of premier inns and dined at the adjacent restaurant but never waited so long for food ( normal time is between 10-20 at a maximum maximum)….waiters really friendly though, and tried to compensate the wait time with an extra beer, however, please have a chat with the kitchen staff. Food itself was good, above the average of the other restaurants in the chain. Please take this as constructive criticism, things can never be perfect and there is always room for improvement. Thank you 👍🏻

Wonderful place to take the whole family for lunch/ dinner, very good service, reasonable prices, plenty of fresh salad, that was refilled quickly and efficiently, everyone's meal arrived at the table at the same time, which in my book is a major plus, friendly staff.

Went for dinner at that weird Twixmas time where nobody knows what day it is. Had the loveliest waitress- so nice and chatty and excellent service. (Jan I think she was called but I could be wrong). Food was good - chicken skewers- definitely recommend them. Very reasonably priced.

We went for a meal here yesterday with our 4 kids and the food was excellent, the service was amazing and the staff were lovely. Our waitress Alisha was the BEST waitress that we've had in a long time. The service is a huge part of going for a meal and Alisha was absolutely lovely and went above and beyond. We all left with a huge smile on our faces after the lovely meal. Thanks guys and thanks Alisha!!!

My family and I have visited here for a meal and received great service and a fantastic service. The staff were very friendly and very helpful, Alicia who served us was absolutely amazing and she was very professional and always had a great laugh with us. Food was absolutely without a doubt amazing again could never say 1 bad thing about this place. We have always chosen here for a meal when we have visited from Devon. Thank you again

We had a lovely visit yesterday. I must mention the most fabulous customer service we received from our waitress. She was wonderful, nothing was too much trouble and she went above and beyond to make our visit as pleasurable as possible. It was the best customer service I have received for many years. Thank you.

Our family had Christmas lunch here. Unfortunately just before we arrived the pub was subject to a power cut. This resulted in delays and disruption due to the computers between front of house , kitchen and bar going down. The staff rose to the added pressure together with a busy Christmas days service with great professionalism. It must have been chaotic in the kitchen but our food was well presented and very good with generous portions being served. Our waitress Sam needs a special mention as she remained cool and calm under a great deal of pressure. So as customers ( a table of 14) our Christmas lunch was very enjoyable and thank you to the manager and the team for working so valiantly in such trying conditions.

Excellent. I booked a family meal for 25, food was great, wide selection with deals and epic portion sizes. All seated together, lovely warm ambience, very attentive and polite staff, great prices, ample parking, good location. We will definitely be booking future meals here.

This is a really good place to eat. We had been here in the past but it had fallen off the radar. Last week we decided to visit for no apparent reason and we had a great evening together. The staff were amazing, friendly and helpful. The food options are good, but the best bit is the salad cart, where you can pick your own bowl buffet style. I love that cart, and that is one of the reasons i like the restaurant. The main course was generous, well cooked and it was equally well presented. The presentation is one of those things that turns a good meal into a great meal. The pudding was great. We only bought one pudding, but with two spoons, as we were quite full. We did manage to eat the whole pudding though. We will be back for sure and we highly recommend this place for a great night out. Or lunch
KJ Duursma — Google review
Absolutely dire. The meal came out and I thought I'd been served a child's portion. When I put the first piece of chicken in my mouth the rubbery texture immediately made me realise it hadn't been cooked properly. The waitress agreed without any fuss and offered a replacement. I politely declined and we left.

Only visited this place quickly for a drink and something to eat while away on a trip. Sat outside so can't speak too much re the atmosphere but was generally okay. The food was a bit pricey I felt for a harvester but was alright.

I don't normally put bad reviews on business unless I think it's really necessary. we booked a table at horse and groom two/three weeks prior to Christmas Day, we paid quite a bit of money for the meals but it really disapointed. the steaks were completely raw and tasteless and my wife's meal looked like the food was just all over the place. we've ordered three steaks and it was completely wasted. there was no taste of anything and as my kids were cutting through it, the meal was not looking appealing. the guys serving the table was great by the way. no complaints about the girls and the guy at the door. unfortunately we had to leave before finishing our course because it was just not great food wise. sorry

Food: Tasty, good portions, cooked just right and excellent value! Service: Alisha served our family of four and she was fantastic! Kind, funny, engaging and most of all made us feel right at home. Whilst of course serving us in good time and looking after us. Staff and people either make or break a business, and it's abudant she really is an asset to this venue! If she isn't already, someone make that woman Customer Relations Manager! Atmosphere: We were in for late lunch, so it was reasonably quiet which suited us perfectly. However it didn't feel dead. A nice background hum in both the restaurant and bar. We're not local but will still hopefully be back soon.

The day was a special day for a birthday gathering. Everything was right on the day. There were 8 of us including 2 children and everyone enjoyed their food. It was cooked freshly and served without too much waiting. We had a lovely gathering
George Murray — Google review
Food probably deserves 3.5 stars but not quite 4. The staff were lovely and service was good. Food is readonably priced and lots of choice. Especially liked the salad bar, apart from the lettuce being a bit brown at the edges. The rest was good with a varied selection and choice of dressings. The great grandkids loved the refillable drinks. It's bigger than it looked from outside and plenty of parking. It was easy to get a table too despite it being school holidays but were probably between peak times and the weather, though dry, wasn't the best. Would definitely go again and recommend it for families.
Helen Shipley — Google review
A pleasant meal out with a friend. Staff were very welcoming and attentive, and the venue was busy (i.e. popular) without being crowded or overly noisy..... it was nice to hear there was a birthday party going on at one of the tables with the staff taking a cake to the party.

The Berwick Inn, a previously infamous pub, pleasantly surprised with its recent improvements. The renovated back garden attracted numerous patrons, leading us to give it a chance. The staff exemplified exceptional customer service skills and kept us informed about our food's progress. They engaged in friendly banter with the customers, making the experience enjoyable. We tried their Mother's Day menu and found the food to be delicious and straightforward pub fare.
Popped in & had their Mother's day menu. The food is really good honest pub grub but the real highlight are the staff - they're fantastic. Every single person was super friendly and helpful, they brought us a high chair for our little one without fuss and every table visit was accompanied by a smile and a chat. Thoroughly recommended.

It was my first visit of this pub today and I will definitely be going back. My partner has been numerous times and highly recommended it. We sat outside in the beautiful courtyard area where you are underneath grape vines, so picturesque. We shared the squid for a starter, I had the burger (cooked exactly how I like it which is medium) it was on a fluffy brioche bun and served with some chilli jam. My partner had the pork belly which was a good size and came with all the trimmings like bubble and squeak. For dessert I opted for the Eton mess and my partner went for the special cheesecake which was pistachio and white chocolate. Both very tasty and beautifully presented. Service was friendly and warm by the two ladies who served us outside. Its great to see a pub which isn't part of a chain and puts some love into their food! Thank you for a lovely experience.

Good beer (Harvey's). Ate in with a friend. Service was good and cheerful. Had the fish and chips which was excellent. Fish batter was light and crispy. Big chunk of fish, well cooked chips. Good value.

Well what a lovely surprise that pub was. It used to have such a bad reputation I have always stayed clear of it Sat at the train gates I saw the back garden had been done And seeing how many people and cars were in there we decided to stop. We were met by amazing friendly staff who knew what customer service was about. We were kept informed of how long our food was going to be. Staff were Talking joking with Joe public definitely recommend definitely going back

We dined here Saturday & Sunday evenings & we weren't disappointed on either occasion. My tuna steak from the Outdoor Kitchen was cooked to perfection & the Sunday roast was the best we had eaten in a long time. It was beautifully cooked with hefty portions. The staff were very friendly & attentive. A place certainly to be recommended

Went for Sunday lunch. Very good food. Beef, pork and lamb lunches to choose from and also the usual burgers, fish and chips etc. Vegan and vegetarian choices too. Very dog friendly. Lovely garden with a kids play area. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area Big 👍 from me

A party of six, including two children, weather changeable but plenty of tables outside under cover. A nice play area to keep the children occupied. Staff very friendly and efficient. Food excellent with plenty of choices. A good time was had by all.

Had a fantastic lunch at the Berwick Inn. Freshly made pizza in the outdoor pizza oven, sat in the shaded outdoor seating area sheltered from the sun by a gazebo with a vine growing from it. A really nice time with friendly staff and great food what more could you ask for.... fair prices .... they have them too

The Yew Tree Inn, located in Maidstone, is a popular restaurant known for its charming setting and variety of amenities. With its picturesque surroundings and inviting ambiance, this eatery offers a delightful experience for all visitors. The establishment boasts an impressive rating based on numerous positive reviews from satisfied customers. Always remembered this pub being lovely and hadn’t been for some time. Main meal was okay, although nothing special, but for pudding 3 of us ordered hot chocolate fudge cake which was the smallest slice they could have managed and was over microwaved to the point we sent them back. Tea ordered was billed but never arrived. Pub feels tired, lacks atmosphere and feels grubby. Needs a good overhaul in all areas. Very quiet for a Saturday night.

We enjoyed our lunch the Mediterranean tart was tasty but not that hot, the others enjoyed their roasts, a good selection and they enjoyed their desserts too! Friendly staff

We visited The Yew Tree Inn last month to celebrate our mum's birthday. We were a table of 14 and all chose different meals from the varied menu and none of us were disappointed. All of the food was delicious and nicely presented. I had the belly pork which was exceptional. Service was excellent as well, we can't wait to visit again very soon.

All the waiting staff were lovely, the food was really nice, garden lovely to hang out in on a sunny afternoon but the bar manager was incredibly miserable. It didn't spoil our day out but it did give us something to laugh about on the way home. Didn't even say thank you when we complimented his food and staff and paid a tip. Would still recommend and I set anyone the challenge of making him smile.

Apr 22: had a lovely relaxed, comfortable family meal here in the very roomy, dog friendly village pub. Decor was clean and tidy. It has many tables inside and out in the large garden (18 tables) with large car park only a short distance from the beautiful St Pancras Church. It's friendly and inviting with guest WiFi. The menu too is large and varied with a specials board. The meals arrived very quickly were piping hot. The home made 7oz "Yew Know What Yew Want" beef burger with cheese, bacon and chips was delicious. All portions were very generous. Staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive. Tables were cleaned properly after guests left. Top marks Yew Tree Inn 🙂we shall definitely be coming back 👍

This was our first visit for a while and we had our dog with us. The food was a bit disappointing e.g. the broccoli was undercooked and tough. The pork belly was also tough and I had to ask for a sharper knife. The service was friendly and efficient. The pub could do with some redecoration. The gents, in particular would benefit from an upgrade. Overall a reasonable place but I wouldn't make a point of just going there. A shame as it used to be a heaving pub in a lovely location.

We used to go to this pub quite frequently pre covid days. It was recommended to us and we have recommended to many others. The pub/restaurant was always full to capacity and the menu was excellent However today we took my parents who celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last week. The pub was half empty and a limited menu. The food was average and quite pricey for what it was and compared to the past. It was a long journey for my parents for something quite average. We were hugely disappointed and unfortunately will not be returning.

Good pub food. We had roast dinners which were nice, decent size portions. A huge chunk of a decent bannoffi pie for pudding. Service was great and a nice atmosphere. The only thing that let it down was plastic containers of UHT milk for our tea and coffee at the end. I would have expected proper milk. Would recommend though.

Very popular and reasonably priced. Not a young peoples place. Parking is easy. Nestled in a tiny village. Warm atmosphere. Fire is crackling on cold days. Food is very good. I recommend the roasts
Roger Kirby — Google review
This place doesn't live up to it's reputation unfortunately. Went for a meal Thursday evening, and the place was dead. I thought then, this is a bad sign. I ordered the belly pork with mustard mush and braised red cabbage. The mash tasted like it was microwabable mash, there was no flavour is the braised red cabbage it was just sweetness. My fiance had the pie if the day (which the waitress wasn't even sure if they had a pie of the day on?) It was mint and lamb. His pie was tiny and not presented well at all! Literally just a square of pastry plopped in top of the pie mix. There was hardly any meat and the gravy was instant gravy. My daughter had the Mac cheese. I'm sorry, but what they served it in looked like a cat's dish and it tasted of nothing. By then my fiance and I decided not to bother with the deserts but my daughter had vanilla ice cream. She got one scoop. Very disappointed. Next time, I think I'll stay at home because my partner and I can cook better than that with our eyes closed and the portions are bigger and cheaper.
Chloe Wright — Google review
Had an absolutely fantastic meal today Calamari to start, roast Lamb for main and chocolate brownie for pudding. I'm not sure where I managed to put it all, but I loved every bite. The rest for our table were burgers and macaroni cheese with banoffee pie to finish, and they all said the same. We can't wait to come back soon to try more of the menu.

Pub
The Barley Mow is an outstanding pub that offers top-notch food and service. It is open all day, which is quite uncommon. The scampi and chips dish I had was incredibly tasty, and the other dishes being served looked equally appetizing. The server, a well-dressed and polite young man, provided excellent service. The pub has a spacious car park to accommodate guests, although getting back onto the main road can be challenging.
Excellent food and excellent service and open all day which can be somewhat of a rarity. Had the scampi and chips and it was delicious all the other food going out looked great too. The young man who served us was very well dressed and very polite. There is a big car park to accommodate people, it is rather tough to get back out on to the main road though. All in all great pub food and a friendly atmosphere!

The first time we went the roast vegetables were lovely and crispy. The last time they were overcooked. The staff on both occasions have been very polite and helpful. There is a great seating area and place for the kids to play. Great for Sunday roasts.

Went Bank Holiday Monday. Not booked found a table for 2. Drinks came quickly. Quite a wait for main meal, dessert had to wait for ages but will say Becky came to apologise said 5 minutes but didn't arrive. Michael not sure his position saw us and immediately our lovely desserts arrived. Very apologetic. We both enjoyed our food. It was exceptional busy so we were happy to wait
Sue Bell — Google review
The garden is great, especially for families as there is a fairly big play area. The views from the garden are also stunning - if you're stopping off for a drink while going for a cycle or walk then it's probably fine, though I wouldn't bother coming for food - half of the table's order never materialised (not sure why as it was double checked with staff a few times). In the end half of us went hungry and after waiting 2 hours requested a refund. Such a shame as the location etc is great and has a lot of potential but the service was a shambles. Explains why the place was nowhere near as busy as you would expect on a beautiful day. The food that did arrive was alright - standard pub food - though definitely not worth the hassle.

We driven past many times was always busy, but there is a for sale sign up, which they told us was sadly putting customers off. Hopefully the new owner will put in facilities for people with mobility problems. You don't realise until you need them they are missing. The staff all looked after us well.

A quick pit stop! No atmosphere, stuffed foxes and other birds hanging on walls.. Very expensive food & it was horrendous! Greasy fat deep fried coley( not even cod or haddock as advised). It was dripping fat! Awful sloppy presentation & french fries overcooked fatty crispy. I felt quite ill afterwards.. Not a good vibe in atall. Was glad to get outta there! Never in this lifetime i would ever return. Cheap quality tasteless food! I cook better at home.

Appalling service, waited over an hour for food only came when complained. Drinks had already taken 20minutes and only 4 of us. They weren’t remotely attentive no waiting staff around, no food coming out and didn’t take our drinks order for a while - other people complained. When I first arrived I asked if the vegan nachos was vegan mince or 3 bean. Told the latter, later when ordered told didn’t have it, so I said please double check as the chef had confirmed before they did and it was bean… then came back and they did have it. After waiting over an hour I had to go up and ask how long as my 86 year old grandmother was pretty hungry. When it came out my vegan nachos had cow cheese on it. I said to the waitress are you sure this is vegan and she confirmed it was. I tentatively took a bite and immediately knew from the texture and reaction I get from lactose it was… had to take it back. They replaced it with a new one but by then my party had eaten. Additional to this food was mediocre and table in front complained chicken was still pink table behind cancelled their order and left as they too had been waiting so long. What’s worse is google said they were quieter than usual and the staff certainly weren’t rushing about so just terrible staff, both serving, kitchen and I managerial. Never again!
