Kirishima Jingu

Shinto shrine
Sights & Landmarks
The Kirishima-Jingu Shrine, situated amidst a dense forest in Kagoshima City, is a traditional Shinto shrine with stunning lacquered columns and architecture. During autumn, the shrine offers breathtaking views of nature's beauty combined with a refreshing chill due to its mountain location. Despite its popularity among visitors who queue up outside the temple gates, the atmosphere within is quiet and peaceful.
Kirishima Shrine is located in Kagoshima City. Now It's autumn so it's very beautiful and a bit cold because the temple is on the mountain. The space is quiet and the people visiting the temple are very crowded. They lined up from the temple gate.

The place is not big, if you are not praying or worshiping, it won’t take long to just look around. Like most temples, it looks solemn and quiet. The landscape and surroundings are well maintained.

Superb shrine, embeded in the mountainous woody area north of Kirishima. Kirishima-Jingü is a "must visit", very emblematic of Kyushu island. Trees, running water, tweeting birds.... very relaxing.

It is located in Kagoshima and it is one of the most beautiful shrine I've ever seen in Japan. By the entrance, the place also has some restaurants, and souvenir stores so might want to check that out. Also, don't forget to buy and bring home some lucky charms.

It's good weather today, it was beautiful sightseeing. I'm so amazed of the Torii gate and the view was fantastic.

Beautiful place. I liked the crescendo : the more you progress, the more everything around you gets beautiful. I don't want to spoil the pleasure for anyone, so I won't say much more. Just look around. Just a suggestion: After crossing the bridge, instead of going up the stairs, you could take a left, and then a right to the stairs that lead to Kame Ishi. Then you could go directly to Yama Shrine (left), which is worth a detour, and only then stroll to the main temple. Without missing the beautiful, moss-covered, fountain on the way.
stephane — Google review
It is quiet place and not many people were there. Need to climb up a flight of steps but vehicles could drive up to near the temple. At the foot of the hill, there were shops and some snack, ramen shops.

This shrine is absolutely stunning! It’s designated as a National Treasure and pays tribute to Ninigi, the grandson of the sun goddess Amaterasu and the progenitor of the Imperial Family. It is also called the “Nikko of the West” because of its beautiful vermillion buildings and carvings. I could really feel the spiritual energy of this place (it is one of Japan’s “power spots”). If you’re into Japanese history and nature, you absolutely can’t miss it!

Live up to its name of one of the top mystic shrine in Kyushu. Came on gloomy morning and was blown away by Kirishima Shrine. Kirishima as the name implies translate to Fog engulf shrine. The place feels so surreal and mystic with the fog covering the shrine. Lots of nature trails as well. To reach Kirishima Shrine from Kagoshima, simply take the shinkasen to Kirishima Jingu Mae, then take a local bus to the shrine. Do take note that the bus takes cash ¥290.

When I come to Kagoshima, I go to Kirishima Shrine. Being that it had been a very long time, I drew my fortune. The result was a great fortune. Hope comes true as you wish. Don't be lost in the words of others. The result was "DAIKICHI". I am very grateful. I am really happy to hear that.

There were many stairs, and as I was over 50 and lacked physical strength, I took many breaks to reach the shrine. Main enshrined deity: Kamiyuki no Mikoto, Kamiyuki no Mikoto It is said that Takeiwa Ryu-no-Mikoto began as a place where gods descended from space to worship the gods. There were many large cedar trees, and I felt a very high vibration within the shrine itself. It seems that it is also called the belly button of Kyushu. (Translated by Google) It's an amazing place where you can feel that the entire forest is a sanctuary. Anyway, there is a tranquil and sacred atmosphere. A particularly important shrine in an area with many mythological traditions. I highly recommend that you visit. As usual, when I headed to the parking lot following the directions on Google Maps, I was a bit worried about having to climb such a narrow and steep hill, but that's okay. On the way home, the car will return through a different, slightly wider exit. I was really surprised! The air was really delicious, and the more I climbed, the more I noticed the differences, and just before visiting the shrine, I also visited the Naiku and Geku! After that, we visited the main shrine! All the heavy worries I had been hiding inside were lifted away! It was really amazing. It's the first time I've felt this way and the energy is high for me! That's what I understood. Is it a sacred tree while going down the stairs of the dragon god below? ? There were so many cedars growing there, and when I turned around to the back, I saw that there were many thick trees branching out from one cedar! Very powerful and moving! After arriving at the pond, my buddy tried to take a photo, but it was shining divinely, and the camera was affected by the light, so he couldn't take a photo! I was blessed with some strange events and it was truly amazing! ! It's definitely a place I want to go to again! This was the third shrine I visited that day, so I visited after 4pm. The snow from the day before yesterday remained. Ice crystals formed in the water fountain, and I could feel the force of the water and the appearance of a dragon. After visiting the shrine, head to Higashimizu Shrine. The mountains are completely white with snow. It has an atmosphere. It was quieter than usual, probably because of the snow. Visiting the Eight Great Dragon Kings ✨ The pond is also calm. Thanks for the guidance ✨ I visited the shrine after seeing and hearing the name of Heitate Shrine. If you go up some stairs from ⛩️, you can see the difference in the air. Jyoei-ji Temple is a serene Zen temple located in the forested hills of Yamaguchi city, Japan. The temple features a beautiful garden designed after a 15th-century monk's landscape painting, which encourages mindfulness and defies interpretation. The gravel garden on the entrance side is particularly noteworthy for its peaceful ambiance. Sesshu's Garden at the rear represents Japan and is equally stunning but less crowded than Kyoto's version.
Beautiful & historic place. This is no.2 precious sightseeing spot in Yamaguchi city. Here is Japanese garden version 2 in Japan compared with the first version in Kyoto but not so crowded. We can enjoy the peaceful and fresh pure atmosphere here.

The gravel garden on the entrance side of the temple (up the wooden stairs and turn left) is my preference to the biggger famous Sesshu garden, representing Japan at the rear, but all the gardens are beautiful and encourage mindfulness, or seeing reality as it is by defying interpretation. Sangasho Shrine

Sights & Landmarks
On November 16, 2018, a visit was made to Sangasho Shrine after noticing a sign about an exorcism ritual for Kaiba. The shrine provided knowledge about a spiritual creature associated with the term "Kaiba" that resides in the hippocampus of the brain, resembling a seahorse. A sculpture depicting a running horse over waves symbolized this concept.
(Translated by Google) When I went to Golden Week, it seemed that the cherry blossoms were over and the Ishikusu flowers were blooming here and there, so it seemed that people who enjoyed the flowers at different times would enjoy it, but the real thrill of this is the sculpture of the shrine. Just looking at it is well worth it. There are more than 20 carvings of animals and plants alone, and dragons dance on the beams at both ends of the main shrine, which is magnificent. I was able to appreciate it nearby with the guidance of Mr. Miyaji, and thank you for your polite explanation of the sculpture. It is a shrine of Kaiba Harae that heals the tiredness of the brain. A sculpture of the hippocampus in front of the shrine. It's rare, so please take a look. The sculpture depicts a horse running on waves. If the chief priest is present, he will perform an exorcism for Kaiba. In recent years, there have been many illnesses considered to be mental illnesses, such as Alzheimer's, dementia, and depression, and the number of people suffering from them at a younger age is increasing. For this reason, he started performing exorcisms to activate the hippocampus and amygdala in the brain. I prefer this mountain over Kuju and I went on Saturday February 21st after a storm on Thursday. The sunny weather made the now slushy and there was only one lift running so the line was a bit crowded. It was ¥4,300 for a 4 hour pass and just the skis and poles were ¥2,500 to rent (since I brought my own boots, helmet, goggles, gloves). Of course, you can rent everything including winter clothes. The choices of skis to rent were not great and the skis I was given were not great at carving. I forgot to tell the staff that I was an advanced skier and thus when I would try and do certain motions, my skis would pop off in an instant. This mountain is perfect for beginners and people who want to practice before hitting bigger mountains to the north. The groom isn’t too steep and the lift staff are very on top of things. For the more experienced skiers and snowboarders, this mountain doesn’t have too much to offer besides the groom filled with slow beginners, a mogul training area and some ramps/boxes for the brave hearted.
