The Fox & Hounds at Toys Hill is reputed to be the highest pub in Kent. Although I didn't dine there, the menu appeared impressive, offering good pub cuisine. Instead, I chose to relax in the bar area and enjoy some drinks. The bar staff were exceptional, displaying warmth and friendliness. This traditional establishment dates back to 1368 and boasts a delightful dining space. I highly recommend this charming local pub for its amazing breakfast options that are as visually pleasing as they are delicious.
We didn't eat at this pub but the menu looked great. Good pub food. We sat in the bar and had drinks. The bar staff were excellent, very friendly and welcoming. A lovely traditional pub dating back to 1368 with a nice dining area. Would recommend.

Visited this pub for Easter Sunday. The roast lamb was lovely and tasty, portion sizes were decent. Would recommend the biscoff cheesecake, it was recommended by the young waiter and it didn't disappoint. 3 course meal plus drinks for £50 per person. Will be returning to try other items off the menu.

Food was okay. Over priced for what it was. Ordered whitebait for starters. Looked decent. Tasted a bit over cooked. Lamb shank for mains. This was 17.95. Again looked good. Arrived on a giant bone but only had a few mouthfulls of meat and a lot of sauce. Cheese board for dessert was good. 9.95 came with 3 good chunks of cheese, veg and chutney For drinks the menue shows 2 prices. You would think single and double, but this is not the case. Ended up having to pay for 2 single shots. It became very expensive fast without me knowing For me alone meal and a few drinks came to £70!!

A beautiful old pub full of character with great food and friendly staff. The rear has a nice garden with seating and a child's play area but we didn't get to use it so will have to come back! A hidden gem.

Went midweek with a party of six. Lovely old world pub with very good food. Service although friendly was however a bit sketchy, with only one young female serving. Although though it was not busy, one dish was missed off the order completely. There is a car park at front of pub but quite small. Overall good and would return.

We found this place by accident and so glad we did. The food was amazing and the staff were so welcoming and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and we have already been back for a second time and the service and food was just as good. This is a little gem of a pub very old and traditional with a lovely open fireplace. I would recommend to anyone to go and try it out. We will definitely be returning again!!

Very nice food( thanks to chefs), good service( thanks to a girls on the floor), but really need to work on cleanliness front and back of house. High chairs quiet bad( last time when we were in there, this time we brought our own kid chair), we got one of our starters in badly dirty dishes, we never ordered coleslaw but we found some of it on our plate:( ( I would say need step up for chef checking dishes ) Other than that all good lovely local pub!

Chose the Fox & Hounds as it was a central point for 3 families to meet for Sunday lunch, including our son & his family visiting from Vancouver - extremely pleased with our choice, thank you to the very pleasant, friendly & helpful staff. Beautiful, old, unspoilt pub with a lovely outside seating area & garden, very safe & our grandchildren loved the pirate ship. The food was superb. Would definitely recommend.

Stopped off on our way home for a bite to eat in the sunshine. The beer was good. We shared the scallops and black pudding and had a main each. Food was cooked fresh so at a relaxed pace which suited us well. Staff were friendly and welcoming.

Mixed feelings on this one. Came highly recommended by a friend however a little disappointed. Ordered a steak (£25) medium rare , it arrived closer to well done. I did send it back straight away and it was replaced, however my friends had finished their meals by the time my meal had reappeared. Awkward! Also, it's December build up to Christmas. Why not lit a fire in the restaurant side? It was chilly. The staff were friendly and apologetic about the meal. The steak was good the second time around but not sure I would return.

Been here multiple times before and always enjoyed but today's experience was so bad I won't be returning. The service was slow as always, staff were tense and arguing with people on the phone behind us during our meal. We waited nearly and hour for desserts which turned up uncooked, dry and cold. Food is usually great so this was disappointing. We had to pay twice for a children's meal as the first one was so small my nephew was still starving. We paid £35 deposit but unfortunately 3 diners were unable to attend due to illness. We were only given £20 back off the bill despite spending nearly £150 for our meal and not questioning any of the poor quality food for which we were happy to still pay in full. The waiter barely had a chance to explain before a lady shouted at us across the bar that she would not be refunding the other £15 to us. We said it was unfair given we had tried to contact the pub in the morning but the phones weren't answered. She dismissed this and our comments about the children's meal issue and poor desserts. We didn't want an arguement to ruin our mother's day any further than they already had so we paid in full. I am a regular visitor and am really disappointed with todays experience. I regret choosing Fox and Hounds out of all the lovely pubs we have in Godstone for today's meal and I definitely won't be returning any time soon.

A lovely local pub! This is our most local, we love it! Breakfast is as amazing as it looks 😊. I can also recommend the Nachos and chips 😋. My partner and I have been here a few times and the staff are always so friendly and polite. We will be back!!

Mother’s Day treat from my daughters. Roast dinners although waited a while, were good. A good 40+ minutes for desserts was not acceptable. Custard was cold and top layer of bread and butter pudding wasn’t cooked. Grandson (6yrs) had two kids meals as the pizza was SO SMALL it was eaten in least than 3mins and at £6 was disgusting

Driven past this place many many times and always wanted to visit, read the reviews most of which are really good, so decided to book a family lunch which included a 2 yr old. Sat in the restaurant area which was really really pokey, the tables are so close together there was no room for me to pull my chair out for my toddler to sit on my lap, who by the end of our visit was becoming very restless, which I’m conscious of due to other diners. There were only two staff members serving, we ordered main meals no starters and waited a while for those despite booking one of the first lunch slots. The food was ‘okay’ the batter on the chicken nuggets was very greasy as were the onion rings. We waited what seem an eternity for the table to be cleared of plates, we had stacked plates up so it was quite obvious we had finished. Really couldn’t be bothered by that time to ask for the dessert menu as we had waited long enough. The bill for 4 adults and a child was £95 with a drink, fairly reasonable but the service really really let this place down and I shan’t be returning in a hurry
Sandra Affleck — Google review
Had to wait best part of 40 mins for our order to arrive at the table. When I asked the waitress how much longer I was told they have a couple of large tables being served. Not from what I could see. The burger and chips were poor. Burger was so dry it was like eating minced beef. Chips were cooked from frozen. For £16.95 I expect way better. The jacket potato my wife had was poor. Like it came from the hot plate. Small portions. Don’t be fooled by the food photos on the website, it was nothing like that. Very cramped inside with tables packed in. Everyone might as well be sat on one table. It was a joke. Would not recommend this pub to eat in.
Paul McQueen — Google review
So disappointing! Sorry to say. We were one of two tables being served on a Friday night, not exactly popular!! Only one choice of ale!!! Service was slow and the food over priced. At £18.95 the fish platter was unbelievably poor value, spread out to look like something special!! Prawns in mayonnaise were nice though 🙄 Shameful baguette, not enough to share Pork belly was small, but tender, Pies were over seasoned and the fish pie made with cheap frozen fish pie mix, I think there was a piece of salmon but it was hard to identify, no cream or wine in the sauce to make it in any way worth eating. All the mains came with huge portions of mash which actually was good and a selection of standard steamed vegetables which were very boring. The smells from the kitchen were of old fat on a grill - GRIM The whole pub is tired, even the loos are not great !

My previous experience of the food and service at the Fox & Hounds had been consistently good. My experience yesterday 2 March was very bad. It was my sister’s birthday. We were both very disappointed with the slow service. We waited an hour for our meal and had to keep asking how long it would be. The menu was limited to mostly burgers in one form or another. I booked the restaurant, but was told it was reserved for a party. We had to eat in the bar which was noisy. We moved tables 3 times.

The Bell Inn in Godstone is an old pub that has been given a modern touch. They offer a seasonal menu of modern British cuisine. The establishment also features a conservatory and garden for guests to enjoy. It is part of the same group as The Bull and Bush in Hampstead, which is conveniently located nearby. While some patrons have found the Bell Inn to be good value and enjoyable, others have complained about the lack of heating in the restaurant area.
A wonderful evening meal.very good service fully attentive staff excellent food and a calm atmosphere. Highly recommend for a family meal.

Great room there called the snug for a party of about 25. The tomato’s soup I had was fantastic, pizza was ok not as tasty as it could have been, white chocolate cheesecake (see photo) very sweet but looks stunning. Lovely wine and gin. Everyone else liked the food. Service was excellent and could not be faulted.

We’ve visited here twice recently. The first time was for a midweek lunch where the table service was a little slow. We had to wait longer than we’d have liked to order and pay the bill. We had lamb rump and pork belly, both were a decent portion size and very tasty. The pavlova and chocolate Bombe for dessert were very decadent! The second time, we visited mid afternoon on a Monday so it was a lot quieter. We ordered at the bar and the lady was very friendly and polite. Service was nice and prompt which was appreciated as we had a young baby with us who was quickly getting fussy! Once again, the food was very tasty. We opted for the lunch deal and had squid and pate for starters then fish and chips for main. The fish was a good size and the batter was crispy and light. We’ve been to their sister pub The Spring Tavern in Ewell for their Sunday roasts many times, so we look forward to coming to the Bell Inn in the future for one!

Another visit to the Bell, and a what wonderful one it was. A lovely ambience, attentive service as always and exceptionally good food. Both myself and my mum had the pork belly with scallops, highly recommended and great value. Dog friendly as well! What more could you ask for.

One of the best burgers I've had in a long time. Menu looked great will definitely be returning back to try more and sample their Sunday roast! Staff were friendly, prices average for the quality and good drink selection. Lots of cosy corners to choose from too.

We had a great time ! The staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was excellent - nice wine choices too. My sister comes over for Christmas most years ( except the Covid years ) from the USA and our first port of call after we get out of Heathrow is The Bell - long may this tradition continue !

Situated just off the junction of Godstone sits a lovely little village that boasts, The Bell Inn, a classic luxury Tudor style vibe, isolated by the rural country you can only get here by either car or the local cabs the reason for this is because this place is catering for the wealthy families that grace this beautiful area. The Bell Inn is beautiful both inside and out and is for anyone who wants an amazing luxury atmosphere and quality food and drink, as you enter you will be greeted by warming staff, who will pay the utmost respect to you whether your coming just for a few drinks at the bar or eating in at the restaurant they will sort you out quickly. Food and drinks come quick with their high profile of respected food and a quality chefs this place has a great reputation..the deserts are also luxurious I like the 🍪 cookie and double chocolate.. just to top it off I advise you to check out the massive outdoor gardens which bring out the true character of this Wonderful barn( farmhouse ) the best times I find to go is around 2pm - 5pm

Sunday roasts are fantastic. Just enough food, not so much that you’re full to bursting. Only slight issue was I found my beef slightly tough but this may be because we couldn’t get a table until a little later in the day (14:45) and the beef had been cooked some time before. The table next to us that came in around 15:15 ordered the same and their beef was nice and pink. Will definitely go back again and give it another try. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good roast at a reasonable price.

SUMMARY - OK food and OK service in a pleasant atmosphere but not worth the price. Would not return. 1Atmosphere This was a very clean and well laid out pub/restaurant conversation. Our experience was diminished when they sat us down in the orangery where the sun disturbed every member of the dining party to the point of uncomfortable. When. We asked to move to the next table we were informed that it was booked so we could not move in the end. 2 Service We waited a LONG time for our food to come. Although a table of 4, we were sat at a table of 6 and we had to ask after a length of time for the 2 extra covers to be removed from the table and we had to ask for our condiments. Otherwise, the waiter was very friendly and respectful, helpful (when asked) and pleasant. 3 Food The Presentation was good and at the standard one would expect. It was very hit and miss on quality. The pasta was dry but flavoursome, the pork was perfect (bonus points on great crackling), the burgers looked plentiful and moist, the pizzas fresh and fire oven cooked. However, we were let down by the portion of the kids meal so much that we were going to return it but the staff sorted us out with a second portion (which when combined made one portion of a kids meal in our opinion). The value was ok, let down by a £7.50 charge for a kids meal that was smaller than the same dish as a 'side'.

Beautiful warm dining areas (conservatory and main area) and a fully stocked bar. Great atmosphere, lively at the bar but relaxing eating areas. Lots of parking and garden area. What really stands out from any other pub is the quality of the food and the service. It was busy but we didn't wait for long at all. I have weird dietary requirements (medical) and the chef made me a bespoke meal which was outstanding. Well done all. See you soon!

A lovely pub/gastropub we stumbled across on our walk. Staff were very welcoming, friendly and attentive but without too much fuss. Food was top tier - we had the chicken and duo beef roast; superb! Highly recommend

Took my Mum here for their Mothers Day 3 course special. We were warmly greeted by the maitre-de, and smoothly taken to our reserved table. Drinks and food orders were taken quickly but without feeling hurried. The food was fantastic. We had the scallops (outstanding), followed by roast beef and the pork belly (I had the pork but thought the beef looked even better). For desert we both had the berry pavlova which was decedent and very sweet. The service was impeccable and food really well presented, decent sized portions and very tasty. 9.5/10. Highly recommended and I felt worth the money and gave generous tip.

We all had a Sunday Roast and it was very nice. Meat cooked very well. Only small comment I would make is the Yorkshire was a little too big and lost the taste a bit and the cheese board desert needed a little more cheese. However this would not put me off coming again as food was extremely good

We booked a table for 4 adults and a baby on Easter Sunday for lunch after we had visited Godstone Farm. There is a good-sized free carpark with a couple of spaces that also have a charging facility for electric cars. The pub is very clean and tastefully decorated. It also has a large beer garden with lots of tables. We sat inside the conservatory area. We got drinks at the table very quickly and then ordered our meals. My sister totally forgot to order anything for their 1 year old until about 30 minutes after we had ordered the 4 meals for the rest of us. But despite this, her dinner arrived only minutes after ours did. The portions were great, and all the food was lovely and fresh. We will definitely be back. Thanks for looking after us all so well, especially as a baby that will remain nameless. Decided that a couple of menus would look much better ripped to bits and eaten [if we weren't looking]

The roast dinner is perfect in every way. One of the best pub roasts we have had. It was so good, we booked to go again the following month. The staff are amazing and couldn't do more to help you, especially if you have an allergy (it's a nut free kitchen). Absolutely recommended.

The Hare & Hounds is one of Godstone's notable pubs, known for its excellent quality food and friendly service. It is a charming establishment that offers delicious home-cooked meals, such as the delightful lasagne accompanied by a salad and slaw. The bar staff are attentive and helpful, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. With its traditional ambiance and tasty cuisine, The Hare & Hounds is a popular choice among locals and visitors alike.

Went to this pub with a couple or friends while on a hike. One of my friends wears a mask as he’s worried about covid. While we ordered, the landlord refused to speak to us, instead pointing at the bar silently and sending my friend dirty looks. I don’t get it - my friend wasn’t harming anyone, he can wear a mask if he wants. Anyway, we won’t be going back.
Dringus Bastardo — Google review
This is a seriously olde pub. Dating from 16th Century so inside it has (as you would expect) "a wealth of exposed beams". This creates the atmosphere of a down to earth pub offering good ale as fair prices (£4.50 a pint) and meals advertised as "Home Cooked" at around £11.50 a meal. So good value. Two real ales on offer: the "Westerham 1965". Well cellared and with that burnt flavour we all love plus "Spitfire" not tasted this time but a worthy option. Meals were offered from the standard menu. All good fare of usual pub grub. Additionally the chalkboard of todays "Specials". Three good offerings and the Spanish Tortilla came with a very fresh mixed salad with chips which were swapped for peas. An excellent meal but was the actual tortilla homemade? A hearty welcome from pub team running the bar who was most kind in offering to mix & match menus as suited which was really appreciated. Offered wifi code and most welcoming. Meal come promptly all very nice. Idea pub for walkers and slap bang outside is the bus stop a crossroads for bussed serving Redhill & Oxted plus Caterham and East Grinstead so no excuse to drive !!

Today was our 2nd and last visit to this pub. We arrived before 12.00noon having booked a table in advance. We had to sit in the bar section (no problem) with our dog. We were told that food would be served at 12.00noon but she was waiting for another staff member to arrive. She would bring us the menus and set up a tab. We were still waiting at 12.30pm so went up to the bar and was told by another member of staff that she hadn't been told that we would be eating there. We eventually got our food which wasn't particularly good. Furthermore, we were amazed to find debris on the carpet so, clearly, they don't employ anyone to do hoovering! A pub definitely to avoid.

The Old Forge Cafe and Deli in the vicinity of Godstone is widely regarded as the top cafe in the area. Many visitors from Oxted specifically make the trip to this establishment due to its unparalleled reputation. With a track record of consistently delicious meals, customers keep coming back for more. The level of service provided by the staff is exceptional, and their friendly demeanor adds to the overall experience.
Hands down the best cafe in the surrounding areas of Godstone. We come from Oxted because they're the best! Never had a bad meal and we have eaten here a lot! The service is impeccable and the team are so friendly. It's a real shame they aren't open on weekends as this place is the gem of Surrey. At Shell, I fueled up my new Focus RS with the finest V power for the first time. While trying to chat with the attendant about my car, I realized there might have been a language barrier. Although it's unlikely that I'll return due to the distance, I did pick up a slightly larger Cadbury chocolate bar and enjoyed it.
Filled up my new Focus RS here with the finest V power for the first time shortly after picking it up. I tried to ask if the guy who served me if he liked the car but I don't think his English was very good. I won't be coming back because I live so far away but I also grabbed a cadburys chocolate bar (slightly bigger than the normal size) and it was very nice.

I don't normally have a problem here, but earlier this evening some 'ork' like idiots were pulling in here ignoring the no entry signs at the top end and blocking the space. Worse, they weren't even filling up with fuel they were buying cigarettes and drinks taking ages. On top of that there was a broken down white van badly parked up in the middle section between the pumps taking up more space. The young man behind the till was on his own and didn't know what to do to create access to the rest of the pumps for customers like me who were queuing up to get to one. He needs confidence training to assert himself with these clowns who ignore the rules. The van could easily have been pushed into the bottom corner and out of the way.

Always ridiculously expensive (around 10p a litre more than nearby stations - for petrol and diesel). Rip off. Avoid (unless your company pays or you are really desperate!!!).
Nigel Fisher — Google review
Honestly could not be more unhelpful. The first time, I had no data on my phone but the free WiFi was supposedly available. The free WiFi did not work and I had no means to pay. The level of service from staff was so poor, nobody had any clue what to do, like poor lost animals and in the end just left me alone. I can’t imagine what it may have been like for someone in a crisis situation. Second time, I was struggling with the fuel pump, and fuel spilled everywhere, their response was to just stare at me like a lemon. When I reported there was something wrong with the pump, the response is to ‘try another pump’. Oh, and they are always more expensive than other locals! Just avoid, NPCs.
Scarlett D — Google review
Today diesel is 20p a ltr cheaper than Clacket Lane Services & less than a mile off J6. However the service was incredibly slow. I think 3 stars is a very average score for a very average fuel station.

I fill my car up once a week at this petrol station on my commute to work. Yesterday I filled up, went to pay and unfortunately my card on my phone didn't work. I had no other means to pay. The next process wasn't explained to me clearly. The fee went to a debt company for me to pay online with a £6 admin fee. I understand they need to protect themselves from fraudsters, but I'm a regular customer. I was made to feel like a criminal and was treated appallingly. I won't be back here for this overpriced petrol with bad service.

Normally it's fine, a bit overpriced as it's near the M25 junction but that's fine. But don't advertise you're 24 hour and then when I turn up at 11:40pm to get petrol for an early morning for work, make gestures at me through the window to tell me you're close and visibly start cashing up to prove your point. If you're not 24 hour don't advertise that.
