Restaurant
Mediterranean restaurant
Es Molí d'es Racó, a restaurant located in the village of Es Mercadel, Catalonia, is easily recognizable with its restaurant situated within an original windmill on a working farm. Since its establishment in 1982, their gardens have greatly influenced their menu and supplied their kitchen with ingredients for traditional Menorcan dishes. The mussels they serve are irresistibly delicious, baked to perfection with a crispy breadcrumb and tomato sauce topping.
Although the food was absolutely amazing, the staff really put this place over the top. They were just having fun the whole time. They worked with all of our weird requests, they gave the bill to our middle child, and when I wanted to take some of the cookies that they gave us home and my oldest said we shouldn't the server said that I could take some home but only if I didn't share with her when we got there. All the servers were an absolute delight.

(Translated by Google) NON-FESTIVE MENU 22 euros (the old days will not return), very good cannelloni first, chicken second, lamb and in my case a fried fish, skate and dogfish, for this price you expect a more varied fried food. Good atmosphere as always and good treatment from the staff. For a weekday, the menu seems expensive.

Really good restaurant! Super traditional from Menorca, the food is amazing, lots if options to choose and good vegetarian options. The location is good as it’s centric and a short drive from the beach

Excellent all around! Our server Juan Carlos was helpful with recommendations and all was simply delicious! We had a lovely tomato salad with cheese, snails with spider crabs and a mixed paella. All superb! The restaurant is located in a 370 year old mill. Very pretty and charming surroundings. The entire staff was courteous and friendly and kept checking up on us to see if all was well. The price was also very reasonable.

A truly good local place in Menorca. I’m from Greece and this place is what I mean also in Greece by “local good tavern”. Good portions, good food, good atmosphere, good prices. Wherever you are in Menorca, you should visit this place for lunch or dinner. We had a selection of dishes, our top ones were the anchovies and the snails. Amazing tastes.

We can never ever fault this place. Its been maybe 7 years since the last visit but nothing changed. The baked muscles are just unbelievable. They have the best entrecôte steak you can get. Such a buzzy atmosphere. .. this restaurant its been around for years and we love it.

Portions are super generous. There are some real stars on the menu such as the steaks, partridge and rabbit. The sausage and cheese platters are good too. No idea about the deserts because we just couldn’t contemplate them at that point. Waiters are excellent.

(Translated by Google) Typical inn with a traditional touch, located in the heart of the island of Menorca. It is a must-stop for all types of people, from rough and hungry workers to travelers eager to discover authentic local cuisine. I would like to highlight the abundance of dishes on their menu, with quite competitive prices compared to other places on the island. Additionally, the quality of the food is exceptional; These are homemade dishes that very well represent the essence of their gastronomy. We opted for the weekend menu (€20), which includes first and second courses, drinks and dessert. The variety of options on the menu is impressive, with a generous amount on each plate. I also want to highlight the kindness and excellent service that Betsy provided us at all times at the table. His attention was impeccable and he really made us feel at home from the first minute.

The staff were friendly and the place has a certain good atmosphere. However, the food was quiet basic. I choose lamb chops and wish I had looked at photos beforehand. As many have already said they were ribs with very little meat on the bone. See the photo. They were a lot of work to eat but tasted good if a little too salty. We shared a starter that may not be on the menu and it was delicious (thinly sliced tomato and menorcan cheese with oregano, we choose not to have the capers on top). See the photo. We also had menorcan style squid which was good. It seems that most plates are protein plus fried potatoes. The house wine was not great. Overall I would say it was poor value for money.

Siempre volvemos (Translated by Google) It is a place that does not fail you. You have a variety of food, more traditional and some extra things. In general good and the seafood stew spectacular. You can try typical dishes outside of the typical lobster and I like that. The menu is extensive, the service is good although it is a bit annoying to always have to wait much longer than what was agreed upon in the reservation, because they have room so you can be comfortable while you do it and in our case it was raining so we couldn't wait outside The atmosphere inside is very good although at times it is somewhat noisy. As for everything great, highly recommended and the price is not exorbitant. Good value for money. we always come back

Although the staff were very friendly and the service was on point, I was really disappointed about my food! It was embarrassing how my plate looked. The lamp chops were too small, it almost looks like they ate it before serving it! The rest was fine. Please consider my point for future customers.

This is an authentic Menorcan restaurant. Well cooked, local produce results in no frills, tasty dishes. We eat here once a week in the winter and it is our favourite place! Staff are excellent and will take the time to explain the menu del día to you if you don’t understand Spanish. It’s the real deal.

(Translated by Google) I recommend that you see the menu, it is not on the menu, on the last page they tell you to order it if you want it. It costs €20 and you roll out of the place. Very beastly quantities and everything very delicious. To start they give you a casserole of garlic and bread, be careful because it is very good and you can have less room for the main ones 😅 It is very important to book, this place is known and highly recommended on the island so it is always packed. In the photos there are two menus, I'm missing the other main dish which was fish.

Started our day a few times here for coffee and the local biscuit (like shortbread). Great spot looking over the second beach of santo tomas which is a bit quieter than the main. Friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere.

I would have loved to give 5 stars as the setting was amazing by the sea. Good selection of drinks and the food looked good. Had to knock a star due to the amount of flies and wasps. This is not the owners fault and I am sure it is not always like this, so don’t let it stop you going!

Great bar with wonderful sea views right overlooking the beach of this popular resort. Comprehensive food and drinks menu served all day.
David Thomas — Google review
Fantastic food and service. One of the best places to eat in Santo Tomas. Portions are quite large so they lend themselves to sharing. We noticed that prices have gone up considerably since before COVID but it is understandable. Eating within Santo Tomas is also more expensive than eating in restaurants in towns and villages outside the resort. In any case this is one of the best places we tried in Santo Tomas

Best chiringuito in Menorca. Very good food and variety of dishes with unbeatable location in front of the beach.
Andrea Martínez — Google review
It is a very nice place. We did not have food -- we only when there for a coffee and a drink in the afternoon to see the sunset (which was stunning). They do have a problem with the seagulls since they literally fly and take the food from your plate even when you are there eating! The service is only OK, I suppose they were tired and overwhelmed and that is understandable. I am sure it would be better when the service starts (we arrived quite late).
Gonzalo Bueno — Google review
This is a very busy restaurant, with a fast paced atmosphere. We arrived around 13:00 and by 14:00 there was a decent queue. However, there are lots of staff and the food comes very quick. The food was nice, but it wasn't the best I have had in this area.

The unique atmosphere of a typical summer restaurant at the beach. The personnel is great. I feel this place mine. So good that I returned and will come back again. Any low review means wrong people with wrong expectations. Must try fish on grill

Restaurante Ca na Pilar is a charming dining spot located in a beautiful 19th-century traditional Menorcan house with a rich history. The chef, Víctor Lidón, brings his extensive experience from renowned kitchens to create dishes that reflect elegance and attention to quality ingredients. The menu showcases the influence of his mentors, featuring honest stocks and a dedication to local produce such as game, poultry, and seafood. This intimate restaurant offers high-quality dining in a family-friendly atmosphere.
We had a great meal with impeccable service at the end of the season. The leg of lamb was cooked to perfection and served with just the right accompaniments. To top it off, four lovely ladies fell in love with our baby son and gave us a welcome moment to just relax and enjoy the last bites. A memorable experience.
Anton Torlen — Google review
Michelin starred, but not pretentious or overly fiddly, and well priced. All the food was great, although the main course was a little rich for my taste. Both the red and white wines by the glass were excellent. Starter: salmon rose with basil and lime sorbet and coconut cream Mains: suckling pig with date and apple purée; lamb with lemon cream Desserts: coconut foam with curry ice cream and crumble; Sable Breton tart with crème diplomatic and strawberries and lavender sorbet
Ian Leader — Google review
I rarely take pictures of dishes but the carpaccio with avocado ice cream and beet root juice is one of the most amazing experiences your palate could ever have. Sadly, the main courses we tried were really bad and left us with a sour taste: was the starter the meter of quality of this cozy, rustic restaurant with excellent service and a familiar atmosphere. The garden inside is open only at night but judging from the pictures it seemed really nice, too
Davide Ceper — Google review
The soup of rote bete was good, bilanced in taste. The Aroz mare & monte was very salty and I had to drink water all night.

We had a good experience here. The dishes here are creative.
Juliane Jasmine — Google review
Some of the food was truly stunning, in particular the terrain starter, the scallop main dish and the paella rice dish with squid & blood sausage were standouts. Service and atmosphere were excellent. The only oddity was the crab lasagne starter. It was a little experimental with puffed crispy layers instead of pasta. Clearly, some great flavours, but the dish is not for me.
Martin Brown (Martystagram) — Google review
Great place for a romantic dinner with an interesting menu which however turned out a bit underwhelming. Some dishes didn’t bring out their full flavour potential, and we would have appreciated our main courses to be more varied on the plate with side dishes or sauces.
Dan Vrabel — Google review
Excellent food, subpar service. I'd expect a much warmer service in this type of restaurant. From the moment we walked-in, we were treated with a very cold "do you have a reservation?". No one seemed to care about whether or not we had enjoyed our meal. We could easily have had a few more drinks but really didn't want to spend any longer there. Again, the food was amazing, but the owners should train their staff to be much nicer and appreciate every single customer that chooses to dine there.
Marco Oliveira — Google review
Pretty, well maintained restaurant with friendly, courteous service. Unfortunately I do not understand why they have a Guide Michelin mention for their food. The bread and butter were very nice. So was the tomato tartin starter. The Aubergine lasagna starter however had may too much stone cold Hollandaise. For main I had the wood pigeon - it was very underspiced. They had burned the skin a bit, perhaps to give a smoky taste. That was fine but unfortunately the skin was completely soft despite this. No crisp. The meat was sous vide or low temperature cooked, perhaps a touch too raw but that's personal taste. With it came a small serving of cabbage, that was hopelessly overcooked and also devoid of any taste other than smoke. So overall nothing to write home about and given the higher than normal price point, not acceptable. Sad, because minor adjustments on the dishes served would have made it much better.

—— MOST RECENT REVIEW 2021/10 ★★ Excited, we went back today to CA NA PLIAR. What a disappointment! My dishes were nothing compared to two and four years ago. Little flavor. Poorly decorated plates. No sauce that would enhance the experience. The only positive thing was that the grouper fish had a good taste by nature of it. The quality wasn’t there. This was a waste, especially seen the overly priced low-value dishes. —— PREVIOUS REVIEW 2015/06/08 ★★★★★ I’ve been here two years ago and I was so impressed. Today again, the Chef amazed with a fantastic meal, gluten-free! This is a gastronomic restaurant with a little menu but fantastic taste. It’s a guarantee for fresh products. Great value. On top of your order the Chef presents two appetizers, at least during the evening meal. What you get cannot be described in a few words. Just go and try it out.

We came here due to the glowing reviews but we were slightly disappointed with the Galician crab which we got. It was simply boiled cold crabs - just not a cooking style I prefer. The zamburiñas (scallops) were amazing though! This was the most expensive meal we had in menorca but sadly disappointing too.

Deliciously delicious. Ali oli, croquetas, Paëlla, cheese pudding, prepared to perfection . A very nice staff, a home made digestive à la Baileys (but much better). Another culinary highlight, one of the best!!!

The food was ok. We sat outside and there were too many flies around, which was uncomfortable. The prices are higher than in other locations, unjustifiably in my opinion. The waiter imposed the bread and pimientos pardon on us by stating that he’ll just bring us those, which ended up costing additional €13.

Caldereta menu was amazing - we asked for rice in the broth because I’m not crazy about the cracker/bread they typically serve it with on the island. Loved it with rice - they put in the perfect amount, otherwise none of the luscious broth would have been left over. Other dishes were also good except the bechamel eggplant that no one liked. Boquerones, mussels, calamari and buñuelos were great.

Overpriced and pretentious! We called for a drink and a snack and that's what we told the staff. They took the drink order and supplied a menu. When they returned with the drinks we attempted to order a sandwich! Snacks finish at 14.00 we were told. How disappointing and shortsighted of them. Lots of staff, not busy, all posing and vain! WOULD NOT recommend!! 2 X large beers 9 euros 60! 3 euros more than elsewhere on the island! 😢😝

Nice view, especially at the sunset. Very nice food although it had a bit too much garlic for my taste. Chipirones are very typical here and a nice choice for starters. Grilled fish and the rices are the specialty, we also tried the burger and was good. Should book in advance and specifically ask to be next to the beach. Nice experience overall :)

We ate here pretty much every night as the view of the sunset was stunning. The staff were brilliant, we had the mixed Paella and it was honestly one of the best we've ever had in the last 25years! Only downside it was towards the end of the season so a few dishes unavailable, alternatives were always offered though. Great location and staff awesome! Highly recommend

We went to Es Pins for an early dinner (around 7/7:30-ish). They have a terrace really where you can see the beach and ocean and indoor seating but also with sea views (and ceiling fans that help with the heat of summer!). We really enjoyed the gambas al ajillo (garlic prawns) and the croquetas de calamar en su tinta (black ink squid croquettes). Staff were super super friendly. They also have high chairs for babies and a playground next door where if you have older kids they can be entretained while dinner arrives!
