Nice leisurely cruise of a lake. Quite refreshing in the heat. Nice enough. A trip usually includes a visit to a number of island, Spice Island (Cinnamon), a Buddhist Retreat and a place where fish nibble your feet. A Donation or purchase is expected at most of these.

Koggala Lagoon is a coastal body of water located in Galle District, Southern Sri Lanka. It is situated near the town of Koggala and adjacent to the southern coast, about 110 km south of Colombo. The lagoon is embellished with eight ecologically rich small islands.

Koggala lake... is also one of the places you guys have to visit. You can have this amazing boat ride experience around the lake. They take you to this small island where only 5 families live around. And you can have a fish therapy as well. Plus you also get to see how these people make cinnamon. If you wanna buy cinnamon you can do that as well. If you have some time please visit this place guys. overall we had an amazing experience.

The biggest lake in the southern province with serene, calm waters. The few dozen of islands are both uninhabited and populated. You can enjoy a tranquil boat ride while enjoying the sceneries of wild birds, fish, animals and natural beauty. Prices of boat rides may vary, depending on whether you're local or foreign. Best if you could negotiate a price before taking off.

One of the largest lakes in southern Sri Lanka, Koggala is a vast waterway dotted with islands and surrounded by vivid tropical foliage and colourful birdlife. Though only a short distance from the historic Galle Fort and the beaches of the west coast, it is a hidden hideaway, a verdant escape from the hustle and bustle of the towns. Sailing around its waters, you discover tiny island temples and spice plantations, step ashore on one island to discover the intricacies of cinnamon production, or sit back and soak in the serenity of the lake.

One of the most stunning places in Southern province. It is big. But I was sweating cause of the heat. You can have a Motor boat ride there but I didn't go for it, just because I dont know the price. You can Negotiate the price. Away from the main road this place looks calm. 10 mins from the main road and you will see this glorious lake. This looks nice but no one there does any water games. Might be risky. But still you can have a motor boat ride. 💯

Friendly locals and good instructors make it a must-visit for anyone looking for a fun day in the sun. Several hotels line the beachfront at Kabalana Beach in Ahangama, offering visitors a comfortable and convenient stay just steps away from the surf.

Stunning beach however be careful with your belongings. I left my rucksack under the seat in my scooter and when I came back I had my money stolen. Always be vigilant and try to take fewer things with you!

Nice and relative clean beach with a bunch of sun bed options (500 a day) and board rentals (500 hour). Not many shadow options besides that. Surf is not the best. A lot of close outs so more for white wash surfing :) Some good food options around too. Local establishments seem to keep the beach safe :)

Take care of your belongings. Locals will steal and the surf trainers will overcharge. My friends power bank and some money was stolen while we were surfing although the beach shop owners assured that no one will touch our stuff. But its a beautiful place to be.

I went to Cafe Ceylon as this place was open during the power cut tonight. It was beautifully lightened and the place and entourage looks great! Therefore my expectation were high, and also when I got the menu card, I saw that the pricing is upscale. I really was looking forward to good fresh fish with home made fries.. On arrival I tasted the first chips and it was completely cold. I informed the waiter about it and he sent it back to the kitchen. As my table was near the kitchen, I could see that the chef was just throwing the chips and fish back in to the fryer, instead of making a fresh new plate. When it came back, it was of course double fried, and the fish wasn't more than "nuggets" and tasted like ready made fish fingers.... In such a place I would have expected, home made fries, with freshly fish, battered and with lots of love of the chef. Not this time, the "love" wasn't put into it, and the deep fryer did it's work. I think a missed opportunity for a place like this, with such a nice ambience to neglect the attention to detail of simple food.

We celebrated New Year's Eve, the food was tasty, the only available red wine was not so good, the service was fine. The atmosphere was great though.

Had a dinner at the Cafe Ceylon restaurant a few weeks ago and unfortunately the food didn't meet our standards, especially at this price tag. For the beef burger they used a bun that was clearly old and then toasted on the grill to make it crunchy, but it had that old bread vibe - it was far from fresh. The patty wasn't seasoned well and the taste of beef wasn't great, it felt like something was off, maybe it was frozen and then quickly thawed? The fries were alright. Overall, you can find a much better burger for a fraction of the cost at several other places in the area. Rosemary potatoes were undercooked and had very little taste, some of the bigger pieces were basically raw. We could not finish that. The salad wasn't great, pretty basic and the spring onion wasn't properly cleaned as it still had the hair on it. Sweet potato was cold. The bread that came with it was old and dry. Cocktails were alright but very pricey - 10 euro final price is just too much. They server took one away while we were still drinking it. They charge 10% service charge and then 3% service fee on top. I don't know why is the 3% for? Overall the food was below average and at this price tag you guys should do better. We wouldn't eat there again - just not worth it. Price/performance ratio very poor.

My wife and I have visited Café Ceylon two days in a row and really liked our experience there. All the staff is really friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious and flavourful. My wife also really enjoyed the coffee here.

Beautiful space, delicious food, warm and welcoming owners. They have fun community events like markets and movie nights. Good WiFi makes it a great spot to chill or work. Highly recommend the prawn dumplings.

A friend invite me over for a drink, I end up in a imperial Court with a coffee shop, a co-working space, a restaurant, a bar and with Britta and her daughter to welcome you as one of their family! I love so much to chill put after surfing and Live music was on with Angelo! Maybe one of the best place in Sri Lanka 🇱🇰

Went for Movie Night and dinner - had a lovely evening - The Lamb Shawarma and the fish and Chips were delicious . The Banana flamed with arrack and hakuru that was recommended was out of this world tasty. Will definitely be back for more of that.

Shawarma : fillings were alright but the roti was not even warm. At this price for shawarma, a better job should be done. It’s in a prime location, and investing more in the menu and service can go a long way.

We had a very nice experience with Café Ceylon. We were there for Christmas dinner. The tables were set to a high standard, the food tasted very good and the restaurant generally looked very good. The service was also excellent.

I came to cafe Ceylon for a movie night near Christmas where they screened “the holiday”… the vibe was amazing and made me feel like I was hanging with friends watching a film. I ate the dumplings and the pumpkin soup and the soup was so good I ordered a second one. Service was super friendly and fast. I highly recommend going if you are in Ahangama.

Very nice and chill, had the pancake melt which was a mess and barely any cheese and mushrooms in it. Then had the bowl which was very nice, but the bananas were so thinly sliced that it was just a pitty to have to pay so much for basic ingredients just because you give people access to wifi. Anyway, it's the sri lankan trend for nomads and tourists. The staff is super nice, they deserve it all 🫶

One of our favourite beaches in Sri Lanka. Small, quiet and relaxing. It also has a few shacks that sell amazing juices and cool coconuts.

Beautiful swimming and good surfing. Couple of new juice bar cafes opened up recently. Both reasonable prices. Especially CHANDAS CAFE. serving good Sri Lankan coffee, cheap juices and hot food, rotis omelette noodles etc. Midigama bus stop nearby. Get bus to midigama clocktower.

Beach that still preserves its own nature, is not invaded by the hotel industry. Surf zone. The sunsets on this beach are beautiful. There are many sea turtles. The beach could be better regarding cleanliness. I recommend this beach. It's quiet

We were in Ahangama on a rainy night and had pizza delivered right to our doorstep. The staff is super friendly and the pizza was very yummy. Specially loved the options to customize your margarita with different toppings. We also ordered polos tacos which were super yummy. The fries were too oily and could use some work but overall really recommended for affordable and value for money Pizza and tacos! 💕 No photos of the Pizza because it disappeared in minutes.

The pizzas here are excellent and the cocktails are really good too. Friendliest staff I've encountered in Sri Lanka and just a really good vibe overall. Not to mention watching the sunset over the beach! Definitely worth going to if in Ahangama.

If you're a fan of thin crusts this is the place in Ahangama for you. Crispy and tasty pizza with seasoning such as oregana served separately with the food so that you can season it to your preference. Great place with a great rooftop terrace to eat and chill on.

This place is amazing! Been here few times eating pizza. All pizzas are great, also tacos. We tried their coctails and they are great also. 5/5 for service and location is beautyful.

The food is pretty nice! I ate the falafel and it was super good, maybe i would love to have mor hummus because it was little, but really tasty. My friends ate the spaghetti vegetable and the greek feta and they really like too. The stuff was kind and the place is beautiful, maybe the music a bit loud (we aske to put less volume and they did). So I'll recommend and I'll come back. Prices are higher than local food but it's worthy.

Amazing vegan tacos! I definitely recommend trying them. :) The only thing was the long waiting. I believe I was the only one in the restaurant and still had wait about 40 minutes. :D Worth the time though!

Nice cocktails, attentive staff and great view. Maybe a little advice: if you mix a daiquiri you should really blend the ice cubes as well because otherwise it will not be cold. Tasted nice anyway.

We ve been there two times and it was great experience. Near the ocean with a dreamy view, just like most of the cafes/restaurants in Ahangama. The prices are reasonable, food is delicious.

Best pizza I have had in Sri Lanka. The name is accurate - crust because the pizza base was crusty enough and quite thin which made the flavors come out more. We had the Tuna Pizza and Hot Chicken Pizza and before that we had fries cause we were super hungry. Nice addition was the extra Sat on the second floor and on the first floor they had live music that nice. The whole vibe with the friendly staff made it a really laidback evening.

My favourite place for dinner in Ahangama. Amazing staff, food and atmosphere. The guys do everything to please you even when the workload is very high. Cute dogs also create a great atmosphere. Also they never bother you. Thank you so much guys! You are amazing!

Good food! Delicious pizza! Very good vibe! But for the love of god, get some proper speakers as they sound horrible. Too loud and terrible sound quality. You can’t properly speak with other people. Get some “Function one” speakers, this absolutely place deserves it. I saw people leaving because it was that bad.

Amazing local place. A few small tables outside their house. The man is serving, his English is not super good, but he tries to make you super comfortable 🤗, The wife is sweet and cooks most of the food. We had the prawn curry and vegetable curry with coconut roti (and dahl). So many small pots on the table, super tasty and more then enough 😋 A lot of variation and everything cooked with coconut milk, super healthy! We ordered also take away, the man went out to buy some pots, so we could easily take it on the bike. What a service. Had a lovely evening, thankyou so much!! 🙏

They were closed the first time we came, but we decided to come back the next day because we wanted to give this place a try. We’re so happy we did! The food is authentic, home cooked, and very affordable - especially considering the generous portions! We ordered the prawn curry, the vegetable curry, and the coconut roti. All of it was delicious. We intended to order the fish curry, but the owner said he didn’t recommend that because the fish wasn’t fresh that day. That’s the kind of honesty you don’t find at every restaurant and tells you that they really care about serving you a wholesome meal. The tables are set up in the family’s front yard and you’ll be treated like a guest, not a customer. Definitely give this place a shot if you’d like to have an authentic Sri Lankan experience.

Overhyped. Underwhelming. Overpriced. Terrible staff attitude. We witnessed them yell at the clients sitting at a nearby table. All 3 of us found Ed's burger to be pretty bland. Small portion. We all had diarrhea that evening and this was the only thing we ate in common. Cappuccino was watery. So was the watermelon juice. 2 thumbs down.

Lovely place right on the beach, great views whilst having food and drinks. Staff are welcoming and friendly. Food was delicious, up there with western standards. Best burgers we have eaten in Sri Lanka. Prices are high and listed in US dollars, so it's more of a place for expats and those on a short holiday, not backpackers as such - unless you fancy treating yourself!

Lovely place to have a drink looking at the ocean, to watch the sunset or to have a delicious meal. We went to grab a quick lunch, but ended up spending an entire evening playing scrabble while some of the others around us danced to fusion music which really matched the breezy vibe. Loved meeting the owners (who regularly checked up on us). We were also the only local customers present and the people at Pickled Pelican were all smiles and ready to serve us. It’s also hard to imagine that a a door through a wall in the Ahangama town leads you right into Paradise! Loved and recommend it! A tip: The menu is in USD so remember to take cash as they’ve not yet setup Card payments.

Good cocktails, but not a laptop friendly space. Digital nomads stay away - the owner asked me to switch the laptop off cause it wasn't "the vibe" of the cafe -being a paying customer with lunch + cocktails + beer didn't count for the vibe cause my laptop was open :)))

The place is clean and very attentive service. Food is somewhat expensive for what you get. Atmosphere is flat, There is a TV covered up . Brackets hanging from the roof where speakers used to be. Large cracks in the concrete roof supports . The pool table is a disaster. The view of the ocean is stunning 😍.

My favorite cafe in Ahangama! The views are amazing, you can take a quick dip in the ocean between coffee and breakfast - I recommend you do, it gets really hot under the roof! Location: The restaurant is located in an enviable position, with a direct view of the beach. Welcome: As soon as I entered, I was greeted by friendly and smiling staff who made me feel immediately at ease. Service: The service was timely, considering I ordered a breakfast. Food: I ordered a green thai salad with tofu, which I found really tasty and flavorful. The portion was generous and it completely satisfied me. Overall: I was very satisfied with my experience at this restaurant. The food was excellent, the service impeccable and the location suggestive. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place to eat well and enjoy a beautiful view.

The place itself and the interior are simply amazing. This is where the advantages of the place end. the coffee is mediocre, it feels like it was diluted 10 times... perhaps the most tasteless coffee we have ever tried, it is not worth its 1200 rupees, there are much better and cheaper places. The service is simply terrible, the waitresses are rude, and the girl at the cash register is generally sarcastic, impudent and rude; Apparently they were not taught how to communicate with guests.

Marshmellow Cafe is a super cute spot for brunch, it looks super nice and welcoming and has a beautiful view over the ocean. The food was very good and the drinks were also nice but the portions were pretty small (the guys were still a bit hungry even though they ordered two meals each) Disappointingly the service was very bad, they didn’t pay attention, were unfamiliar with the menu and took very long - just a bad general communication but maybe we just had bad luck? We would have liked to order more rounds of drinks but gave up eventually and went somewhere else.

I came here because of an recommendation - for a good reason! This location is great. Nethmi adviced me to take the tuna steak bowl. Sorry I did not take a picture: come and get it. The bowl by it self is five star!!

I only went to the restaurant for food and drinks. Coffee was one of the best I had in the area. The service was great and the food we tried mixed. Some were amazing like the protein bowl, others like the vegan burger bit too special in taste and tiny. But would come again any time :)

I asked to get a dairy free smoothie and I got whipped cream on top - when I visit this kind of westernised coffee shop I expect the staff to be competent and responsible with what they serve and how they treat their customers. Overall there were ingredients inside, like nuts or caramel sauce, that are not even written down on the menu. This is not okay, there is no transparency in what you get served. The staff was annoyed and not friendly, starring at me cuz they obviously noticed that something is not okay but no one made an approach to check up on me and make sure that what I got served is what I ordered. It’s pricey and honestly such a superficial coffee place with no real identity behind it. If you like authentic places and good food you are at the wrong place.

It's my first experience at down-south. I really wanted to come here. Saw from Instagram about this place and It's absolutely fabulous. We had 2 Avocado toast and burger. It was really delicious and we love it. Great welcoming and all girls were very lovely and caring🥰😍. The view was so great with calming music. Got some hot chocolate and a cappuccino. We really enjoyed this place and hope to come again with our families again. Highly recommend for burgers and coffee 'Marshmellow Cafe '

We have visited this awesome place throughout the season. There is a very cozy atmosphere and really tasty coffee here. Food is also great. Service is fast. Staff is very friendly. It’s very nice when the staff remembers your name and addresses you by name (Nethmi became like a friend). Thank you for the excellent service and your work. Good luck in the future!

In our week staying in Ahangama we tried lots of cafe’s but Marshmallows was for sure our favorite. It had the best coffee options, menu and vibes overlooking the beach. You will not be disappointed unless you are too slow and it’s full. 😁

I was able to make all the changes I wished from the menu and they where very engaged to make it exactly like I wanted it:)) so i would say it’s an amazing cafe to start into the day! It’s a pricey restaurant/ cafe at a nice spot with ocean view. With being that pricey I expect when ordering a coconut that it’s a cool coconut when it costs more than double than anywhere else. But they just brought a warm one and when I said that I prefer a cold one they gave me ice to water the coconut water… like seriously?! Moreover it says in the menu that gluten free bread is available but actually they don’t offer it. When you order the avocado toast with extras on top (of course pay on top) like tuna or feta, you really need to look closely to find some pieces. Overall cannot understand the hype there are so many lovely cafes around with the same sea view but better service and more reasonable prices. Not recommend.

Well the place has a beautiful view of the ocean. They also play lovely music to match the mood. Good place to have breakfast or brunch. Mostly vegan. It is pricey but can understand that they cater mainly to tourists. Service is good. Nice place to relax and just gaze at the beautiful Indian Ocean, time just flies.

I came for a solo brunch. The place is stunning with equally impressive views and good service. The coffee is very good. I felt the food was just ok though. It looked beautiful, well presented and full of colour but I personally felt the flavour was lacking. I will be back to try another dish, hopefully it’s better because the place itself is beautiful and ticks a lot of boxes.

Fabulous views by the sea, great ambience. The food is delicious and great and their menu is also good. The place is usually busy, so sometimes there can be some waiting time. For parking, they have little bit space at the front for bikes and scooters and one spot for a car, otherwise you have to park somewhere else and come.

I love spending my days here. The view, the food and the staff makes this my favourite place in Ahangama town. Everything is made freshly and the hospitality of the staff is great. Easily spending hours a day here. If you’re in for a refreshing juice: get the orange juice. The brownie is also sosooo good. My favourite breakfast here is the probiotic dream with the inflammation fighter smoothie. Fav lunch dish is either the cheesy panini or the eat your greens with feta cheese. Great place right on the beach. The view is beautiful and you can really relax (if it's not too crowded ;) ) The food was super tasty and typically prepared for us Europeans. The coffee selection was great and the coffee tasted good too. Digital nomads also like to come here to work a little ;)

Fantastic beach view and chill vibes. Staff are friendly. Food was good but depends on the dish you get - some are better than others. They have great options if you have dietary restrictions.

We had the pleasure of visiting Cactus last week during our trip to Sri Lanka from Melbourne Australia. What an amazing beachfront venue, superb coffee (serving Melbourne style flat whites and long blacks) using locally sourced and roasted beans and very tasty food, all serviced with smiles from beautiful, attentive and engaging staff!

If you order scrambled eggs I guess you’ll need to specify that you want the yolks included. I guess yolks wind up in a dessert or something and they whites get added to the breakfast bowl. They weren’t even seasoned as well. If you know how to cook you can look at the beans and know that they’re undercooked and hard. Not ideal, especially with kidney beans. It’s great if you’re a pickled onion lover as you’ll get more onions than eggs. It was lousy. Didn’t finish. Coffee was good. Smoothie was good. Key lime pie was good. Views and atmosphere are great. But if you’re someone who knows what good food is then maybe go get some curry and come here for a coffee. Edit: yes I am a chef and have been to Sri Lanka twice and spent about a month altogether there. Yellow yolked poached eggs seem to be no issue as well as the ubiquitous egg hoppers that are cheap and plentiful. A plea to the economic problems of the locals is pretty disingenuous when you’re a restaurant that does not cater to them since it’s well out of their budget as well as using imported goods at your restaurant. Beyond spending money in the country and tipping every local at least 15% whenever I do business with them, I have no control of the situation. But if I do go and spend 5x the cost of local food at a restaurant (which I’m sure you’re ok with) then the very least I expect is that standards are a little higher, for instance, proper eggs or cooked beans. It’s within your ability and food costs. Make it happen. Don’t make excuses.

Food is good, location is great. french toast and avocado were the best, rest is average.
