Saint Gayane Church, a 3-nave domed basilica that was constructed in the year 630 and named after an abbess who was martyred, is highly regarded by Armenians. It is considered to be one of the favorite churches in Echmiadzin. This UNESCO World Heritage Site has a rich history and is known for its beautiful architecture. It's worth visiting to witness the charm of this pretty little church with your own eyes and soul.
Nice church. There's not a lot of decoration, but there's a famous cript of a saint there

Utter beautiful church in the area known as the Vatican City of Armenia. It's not in the larger complex but us only a short walk away and rather quieter as a result. Well worth a visit in my opinion.

The architecture of the church is wonderful.

Not particularly fascinating architecturally but very cool to see the start of a liturgy when we arrived. Nice garden area to stroll in and garden kitty!

Definitely worth to visit if you are into architecture, and with a taxi, it’s almost 45 minutes away from Yerevan.

It's a must visit site located in the spiritual center of Armenia, Vagharshapat city (aka Echmiadzin). I'd suggest visiting the church on workdays to avoid crowds and wedding ceremonies

Cathedral
Etchmiadzin Cathedral, located in Vagharshapat city, is a must-visit destination. Despite undergoing renovation, the complex remains an impressive sight with its remarkable architecture and well-maintained grounds. This oldest cathedral in Armenia is home to around 200 clergy and employs 500 people for maintenance. Although currently closed for restoration works, the exterior of the cathedral and its surroundings are still worth exploring.
The cathedral was under renovation but the sight was amazing.

Beautiful cathedral but under construction so difficult to say what it looks like inside. There are other sites nearby so worth coming to see this on the way.

Wow a blessed day in a blessed Holy Church

This is considered the oldest cathedral buit in Armenia. Although most of the parts were under renovation, we are glad that we visited this place on our way back to Yerevan from Tsagzkafzor. The architecture is remarkable and the complex is well maintained.
Sunandita Das — Google review
Incredible cathedral and complex, unfortunately under renovation so not possible to be visited inside at the time.
Carlo — Google review
Renovation work meant it was closed when we visited. Even so, the complex is interesting and there are plenty of photogenic buildings on the site. Around 200 clergy live here and a further 500 people are employed maintaining and improving the grounds and buildings. I wondered how such lavish expenditure, however beautiful and spiritual the result, could be justified in a country impoverished by hostile and greedy neighbours.

Don't bother with the "museum" if you're an English speaker. It's a single room full of junk. We paid for a "tour" only to find out they're only provided in Russian.
Jamsheed Cooper — Google review
Still in reforming. But you can feel how beautiful she is even stand out side.
Akira Taka — Google review
Beautiful complex to view from the outside. However, the cathedral is currently CLOSED for restoration works (August 10, 2023)

Beautiful church with deep history, worth visiting with a guide to fully understand the whole picture. The area also is a great place to take some beautiful pictures! Inside the church, it is possible to light candles to pass wishes to whomever you like, and to go down the cellar to see the tomb of the martyr that has a deep history in this beautiful building.

Absolutely beautiful. I can see from other reviews a guide is recommended. Maybe, but sometimes you feel and appreciate more when you explore on your own. Many little rooms to see including the tomb of Saint Hripsime.

(Translated by Google) With the travel company Yur Service we visited the church of St. Hripsime, who was stoned to death because she refused to become the wife of the emperor. Initially, the temple was wooden and in the 7th century a stone temple was built in the traditional Armenian style. At the entrance to the temple are two graves of Armenian Catholicoses. Inside the temple there is a marble tomb with the remains of St. Hripsime. On the territory there is a source of water, holes in the caves, a souvenir shop, a toilet. An interesting sight in Armenia. Your guide to the touch, Elena Klimova (Original) Gorgeous church that's not part of the main complex of churches and religious buildings in town. More than worth the short walk from the ever popular complex.

When you open the aged wood door and into this church, you may see baptism——in the same place they do 2000 years ago. The feeling is so amazing to express.
