Maya Devi Temple is a significant Buddhist shrine and archaeological site, known as the spiritual center of Lumbini. This sacred place marks the location where Queen Maya Devi gave birth to Siddhartha Gautama around 563 BC. The surrounding gardens feature ancient ruins of stupas, a pillar of Ashoka, and maroon- and saffron-robed monks gathering under a sprawling Bodhi tree adorned with prayer flags.
Most beautiful temple I've ever visited. Environment is very clean proper maintenance of garden, trees, structures. The environment is so peaceful that one can forget all his/her sorrows. The stups were preserved in a mannered way. The birth place of Buddha was properly marked inside of the temple. Many people from around the world especially China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Taiwan, come to visit this Buddhist temple from around the world. Absolutely beautiful and fantastic temple. For the people living in Kathmandu its a heaven.

Peaceful. Here you can find the actual birthplace of Lord Buddha. The entire area is very calm and peaceful and good for people who are into meditating. Plenty of places to sit and spend time to feel better by following some Lord Buddha’s teachings. If you are Buddhist, mark this place as a must.

Beautiful temple and surroundings. A lot of work is in progress, so it'll only get better with time. But, that's not what it is about. No matter what religion you follow, you just get that tingling sensation and vibe in here, not just inside the temple but also in it's vicinity. Much more to feel than to see. A must visit place. It is the main temple at Lumbini, a site traditionally considered the birthplace of Gautama Buddha. The temple stands adjacent to a sacred pool (known as Puskarni) and a sacred garden. The archaeological remains at the site were previously dated to the third-century BCE brick buildings constructed by Ashoka. A sixth-century BCE timber shrine was discovered in 2013. This amazing place is Very Attractive.

Birthplace of Gautam Buddha, Lumbini, Nepal. It is one among the many World Heritage sites of Nepal, and also one of the best Tourist Destination in Nepal. But it seems lagging in proper infrastructure like pitch roads inside the masterplan area.

The Maya Devi Temple is a must-see destination for anyone visiting Lumbini, Nepal. As the birthplace of Gautama Buddha, the temple holds immense significance for Buddhists worldwide and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The temple's architecture is beautiful, with intricate carvings and detailed designs that are a testament to the skill and craftsmanship of the artisans who built it. The temple's interior is equally stunning, with colorful paintings and sacred relics that provide a glimpse into the rich history and culture of the region. The highlight of my visit was standing in the very spot where Queen Maya Devi gave birth to Gautama Buddha. The temple's main attraction is a marker indicating the exact location of the birth, and it was an incredibly moving experience to stand in this sacred place and reflect on the Buddha's life and teachings. The temple grounds are immaculately maintained, and the surrounding gardens provide a peaceful and serene atmosphere. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and they were happy to answer any questions I had about the temple's history and significance. Overall, I would highly recommend a visit to the Maya Devi Temple to anyone visiting Lumbini. The temple is a remarkable example of the region's rich cultural heritage and is a powerful reminder of the Buddha's teachings. Visiting this sacred site was an unforgettable experience that I will always cherish.

Buddha was born in Nepal. The restoration of the birthplace, the Maya Devi Temple, at Lumbini is beautiful. The peaceful surroundings are astounding. You can feel the essence of Buddhism in the air. You can walk to Maya Devi Temple from Gate number 4 and 5. But if you want to go beyond, then you should hire a rickshaw, which will take about 1200 NRs. #Modiji #BuddhaBornInNepal

Lumbini has a number of older temples, including the Mayadevi Temple, and various new temples, funded by Buddhist organisations from various countries, have been completed or are still under construction. Many monuments, monasteries and a museum, and the Lumbini International Research Institute are also within the holy site. Also, there is the Puskarini, or Holy Pond, where the Buddha's mother took the ritual dip prior to his birth and where he had his first bath. At other sites near Lumbini, earlier Buddhas were, according to tradition, born, then achieved ultimate Enlightenment and finally relinquished their earthly forms. Lumbini was made a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1997 In 1896, General Khadga Samsher Rana and Alois Anton Führer discovered a great stone pillar at Rupandehi, according to the crucial historical records made by the ancient Chinese monk-pilgrim Xuanzang in the 7th century CE and by another ancient Chinese monk-pilgrim Faxian in the early 5th century CE. The Brahmi inscription on the pillar gives evidence that Ashoka, emperor of the Maurya Empire, visited the place in 3rd-century BCE and identified it as the birth-place of the Buddha. The inscription was translated by Paranavitana:

This is Ashoka Pillar...One of the important attraction in premises of Lumbini...situated outside of mayadevi temple... The Ashoka Pillar in Lumbini is one of the 3rd Century stone pillars built under the reign of Emperor Ashoka. It was erected as a mark of respect by Ashoka after he visited Lord Buddha's place of birth and decided to accept Buddhism.

Great Indian King Asoka placed mile stone pillar where Gautam Buddha had born. The pillars of Ashoka are a series of columns dispersed throughout the Indian subcontinent, erected or at least inscribed with edicts by the Mauryan king Ashoka during his reign from c.  268 to 232 BC. Ashoka used the expression Dhaṃmathaṃbhā (Dharma stambha), i.e. "pillars of the Dharma" to describe his own pillars. These pillars constitute important monuments of the architecture of India, most of them exhibiting the characteristic Mauryan polish. Of the pillars erected by Ashoka, twenty still survive including those with inscriptions of his edicts. Only a few with animal capitals survive of which seven complete specimens are known. Two pillars were relocated by Firuz Shah Tughlaq to Delhi. Several pillars were relocated later by Mughal Empire rulers, the animal capitals being removed. Averaging between 12 and 15 m (40 and 50 ft) in height, and weighing up to 50 tons each, the pillars were dragged, sometimes

Myanmar Golden Temple in Lumbini is the oldest structure of the city. Built in Burmese style of architecture, the temple is dedicated to Lord Buddha. The impressive corncob-shaped shikhara, styled after the temples of Bagan gives a regal look to the whole structure. There are three prayer halls and a Lokamani Pula Pagoda inside the building.

Golden temple is very beautiful and peaceful. However a smaller one you can walk around the temple in 5 mins. See small statues day wise. For your peace you can sit down 10 mins and relax. But as far as Lumbini temples are concerned if you have just one day to visit all temples then it has to be in hurry. Only problem i found was, with the unavailability of food joints between all temples somewhere inside. Recommendation -The distance among the temples is too much and recommendation is to keep small snack packs and water with you always. If you are on rented car then don't leave the car behind and walk. You would need to connect from gate 8 9 to 3 and 5.
