Upon arrival one summer evening, as the museum was about to close, a request was made to the caretaker for an extended visit. Despite the unfortunate absence of power at that time, some photographs were still captured. This historical site, located in the heart of town, served as the ancient residence of Sumitranandan Pant and offers a stunning view of the majestic Himalayas from its veranda.
Born as Guiana dutt, museum dedicated to Sumitra nandan Pant (Male). The beloved Hindi poet (1900-1977), one of the most celebrated poet of 20th century. Born here in Kausani, Bageshwar District (previously under almora). Parking may concern here. Not noticeable from road, you may have to enquire at square after forest check post over road. Not advisable for quite old age / wheel chair led people. Birth Place is now modified.

When we reached there on one summer evening, it was about to close we requested caretaker to open it for some extended time. He accepted our request but unluckily there was no power at that hour of the day. But still I managed to take some pictures. This place is ancient home of Sumitranandan Pant, which is situated in centre of the town. One can witness full beauty of Himalayas from the Veranda of his home. There are many memories of him and other poets of that time who visited this place. Not so popular place but still well maintained by the authorities. Must visit if you are in or around Kausani to witness his glorious life. Happy travel 👋🏼

Great location from where you can get amazing views. Though not recommended for elderly as one needs to climb a lot of steps after parking your vehicle on the road. Presently the house is under renovation so a makeshift arrangement has been made from where the museum is being operated.

Kausani Tea Estate is a must-visit attraction in the Himalayan region, offering stunning views of the surrounding peaks. This picturesque estate spans 208 acres at an altitude of 1,890 meters and is adorned with neatly trimmed tea bushes. Dating back to the 19th century, it has a rich history from the British colonial era.
The weather was a bit cold, but the view was spectacular. Best place to visit. No entry or visit charges. A beautiful place to enjoy the serenity and tranquility offered by nature. You can stroll through the tea state amidst the pine trees. The greenery will soothe your eyes and calm your soul. Also, you can enjoy sunset and sunrise from this point. Loved it❤

A beautiful tea garden located on the way from Kausani to Baijnath temple. Nice trek of roughly about 800 meters. You can see tea plantation along with orange, pear, lemon, pomegranate and alot of other herbs as well. Really scenic and beautiful. They charge Rs. 10 as entry fee.

Good spot. Entry ticket of rs 10. On a downhil slope, tea and other exotic masala plants. Good place to kick few photos :-)
Sumit Kumar Singh — Google review
It’s a small tea estate with entry fee Rs.25. A small tea shop available in the middle, and you get different types of Uttarakhand tea powder to buy there. Washrooms are not maintained. And if you have been to any tea estate before easily can skip this.
Navya Chandran — Google review
If you haven't seen a tea plantation area before then it's a must go to place and enjoy the scenic and pretty views of the tea garden and fresh tea leaves which end up in your tea later [ You probably will buy the variety of tea choices selling outside and in my opinion you should ] It has a little eating place inside too for your super short trek cravings that will fill you up after you are done walking in and out of tea garden and clicking lots of pictures. A must go place and please buy lots of tea and other products to support and help local vendors plus for a really great tea experience for when you enjoy the tea at home from KAUSANI TEA ESTATE 😊
Atul Dev — Google review
It's a beautiful place. However, it requires very high travelling. Please do not go by larger vehicle like tempo traveller if you have kids. It will make them sick.

It is a very good tea estate. They also show you the whole manufacturing unit. You can also visit the tea farmd
Nikita Tiwari — Google review
Visited date: 21-22 June 2023 Average experience The tea estate is situated at a roadside, the approach passage to tea estate was not comfortable. Not a big plantation, one has to climb uphill to explore the tea garden. Due to uphill walk and inconvenient pathways, visit may not be preferred for Sr. Citizens and small kids. There is some small shed within tea garden where one can rest in between the visit, also there exits small shop selling tea, maggi etc. Note: carry water bottle along with you.
Alka Choudhary — Google review
Unfortunately we didn't see any tea plants here, but we take beautiful pictures here.😊

Kausani Tea Estate is nestled in the picturesque Kumaon region of Uttarakhand, India. Situated at an altitude of over 6,000 feet above sea level, it offers a breathtaking view of the Himalayan peaks including Trishul, Nanda Devi, and Panchachuli. The estate spans over acres of lush greenery, with neatly trimmed tea bushes dotting the landscape. Established during the British colonial era, Kausani Tea Estate has a rich history dating back to the 19th century. It benefits from the unique climate and soil conditions of the region, which contribute to the distinct flavor and aroma of its teas. The cool mountain air, ample rainfall, and fertile soil create an ideal environment for tea cultivation. The estate primarily produces orthodox tea, known for its superior quality and flavor. The tea leaves are hand-plucked by skilled workers, ensuring only the finest leaves are selected for processing. These leaves undergo careful processing techniques, including withering, rolling, oxidation, and drying, to preserve their natural flavors and aromas. Kausani Tea Estate offers guided tours for visitors, providing insights into the tea-making process and the history of tea cultivation in the region. Visitors can explore the sprawling tea gardens, interact with the local workers, and enjoy panoramic views of the Himalayas. In addition to its scenic beauty and premium teas, Kausani Tea Estate contributes to the local economy by providing employment opportunities to the surrounding communities. It also promotes sustainable farming practices to preserve the natural ecosystem of the region. Overall, Kausani Tea Estate is not only a haven for tea enthusiasts but also a testament to the rich cultural and natural heritage of the Himalayan region.

Historic Sites
Anasakti Ashram, located in Kausani, Uttarakhand, is a peaceful abode dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi. This religious site offers a picturesque setting with stunning views of the mountains and sunrise. The ashram features a prayer room, small museum with a picture gallery showcasing Gandhi's life, and accommodation facilities in old-style rooms reminiscent of an old Dak Bangla.
Visit the place twice. Once in 2012 and in 2023. In 2023 it is a peaceful adobe. Though Infrastructure is advance now a days but that peaceful , calm, scereen environment is missing now a days. Now it is more like a guest house. If you visit first time you love it but if you visit it 2nd time you missed it's soul.

Nice place in Kausani Uttrakhand with natural beauty. You can enjoy the sunrise in the mountains. A small hall with picture gallery is there showing the life abdd visit of Mahatma Gandhi ji. There is rooms available for accommodation as well. Rooms are old, it is like an old Dak Bangla. Amenities and service are average if not rated as below average. Food is also available but with limited option and cooked without onion. Quality of food is average.

ANASAKTI ASHRAM...a place of Heart's Desire....No, I am not a very soulful, sentimental person rather a very pragmatic one. But there are some places, some beliefs, some memories, some sentiments buried deep under... ANASAKTI ASHRAM is one of my childhood dreams come true. Kaushani is itself a majestic creation of GOD...a place so serene and picturesque, all your worries will be vanished... that's why it is the Mini Switzerland of India. But, believe me, ANASAKTI ASHRAM is a place beyond earthly beauty...a place of Heart's Desire, a place all about feelings,...old moral values. No, thanks to modern business mentality, the place lost its celestial aura but a deep searching within yourself will surely transport you to an age where GANDHIJI himself reside here. The age-old ashram house is now turned into a pay boarding...Rs 600/ to Rs 850/ for double bed and Rs 1250/ for a suite and Rs 100/ for per meal. But business apart, once you are inside the campus, you will surely transport to another Higher World.🙏🙏

Very beautiful and peaceful place, you can see the Himalaya view from there. In the main meditation hall you can see the rare photos of mahatma gandhi and other freedom fighters.
Sachin Bajpai — Google review
The place is really good for viewing the Kumaon range but not for staying. The rooms were small and dirty and does not have any geysers for hot water. For 1050 rs for triple rooms I was expecting something better. The food is also terrible and it costs extra 120 rs for lunch and 80 rs for breakfast. And also the place is filled with notorious monkeys. Overall a good place for sightseeing but not for lodging.

Clean tidy area with great view of Himalayas. A pin drop silence was there which is so enchanting. Do a morning or an evening visit to find this place more charming and peaceful.
Samriddhi Bose — Google review
I visited Anashakti Ashram during my trip to Kausani in August 2023. Ashram is small and quiet but peaceful. Gandhiji visited Kausani in 1929 for 2 days..but as he loved the place he stayed for 15 days calling Kausani "Switzerland of India". Ashram has got so many black and white photographs of Gandhiji's life. There is also stay facilities in the Ashram. You can go there and inquire about the availability as it is booked only offline. If someone wants peace and little insight about Gandhiji life he can surely visit this Ashram.

One has to has to visit this place if at all you are in Kausani. You will meet the most humble soul ever in your life, Mr. Khuble. He is an amazing man and will ensure to educate you on anything you ask, whether it is locality, whether it is about good places to visit around in city, for that matter anything you ask him, he will ensure to patiently answer all your queries and concerns. We loved him!! Though we were unable to attend any of his planterium sessions, we did manage to have all our three day stay breakfast at his little restaurant and believe me his adrak wali chai will make you come back again n again ❤️ You have to visit this place to experience what we did during our visit! Its a must!!

I had read a lot about Kausani Planetarium on Trip Advisor but it was never on my list of things to do in Kausani. My visit to this wonderful place happened somewhat by chance as I was visiting the Star Gate observatory located opposite to the Kausani Planetarium. The name ‘Planetarium’ May give a sense to visitors that it is like a Planetarium in the main cities but actually this is a place where guests can actually see the planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Venus), Moon, the Sunrise, and the Nanda Devi range of mountains (If the visibility is good) through telescopes. There is also a small eatery and a shop selling some essential items. The place is run by Mr. Kiran Khulbe, who is a amateur astronomer. He is very passionate about the subject and takes personal and keen interest in the shows and charges just Rs. 50 per person. He also gave a lot of valuable information about the planets, the Moon which were not known earlier to me. The best time to visit is the early morning show which started around 4:30 am. Visitors should check with Mr. Kiran on the previous day about the timings. The Planetarium is closed in the monsoon months. The best time in the year to get a clear view of the mountain range is from October to Feb / March.
