Specialty Museums
The Govind Vallabh Pant Rajkiya museum is a commendable establishment, offering visitors an opportunity to explore the rich heritage of Kumaon. Although in need of refurbishment and better promotion, it serves as a promising starting point for showcasing the region's cultural treasures. Enhancing its online presence and launching advertising campaigns to encourage locals to contribute antique Kumaoni artifacts would greatly aid its expansion.
This museum was earlier the ancestral residence of Govind Vallabh Pant. At present, the cultural heritage of Kumaon can be seen in this museum. There are also some ancient statues excavated in Almora. Here you will also get to see glimpses related to the life of Govind Vallabh Pant. There are no tickets to the museum. And the museum is situated on Main Road. Travelers interested in Kumaoni culture and history must visit once.

Museum is on road side,so very easy access. Good for students visit. Some old things related to our past are there. Kumauni apan are center of attraction. If someone is interested in achitecture and heritage side seeing, then it's a right place.
Deepti Joshi โ€” Google review
It is a good place. I'm happy that such a museum exists in the first place. I visited it. The problem is that it is in great need of renovation and promotion. Definitely a great start but there is great scope for expansion because Kumaon has a lot of heritage. Online presence and advertisement inviting local people to donate antique Kumaoni artifacts could be a great initiative! As of yet the place is somewhat smaller and the collection is lesser than it should be! But the staff were good and they've tried their best to make it worth the visit. Entry is free so drop in!

Almora Zoo, also known as Deer Park, is a captivating wildlife destination located just 3 kilometers from Almora. It offers a serene retreat amidst lush greenery and diverse fauna. Visitors can observe not only deer but also leopards, Himalayan Black Bears, white monkeys, and white deer. The zoo provides an educational and immersive experience for all ages with its variety of animal species including majestic owls, vultures, and hawks.
5 in number of male & female leopards. Plenty of deers. Two majestic Owls from different species. A Vulture and an Hawk to take a look on and behavioural experience for every age group. Feels like walking into the woods which keeps you excited about the jungle. Tickets are cheap as โ‚น20 per adult. Closes at 18 hours in month of April to September. Must visit
Sanchit Bansal โ€” Google review
I visited this zoo few days ago with my family. It is basically divided in 2 area, 1 for leopards and 1 for other animals like dears, sambar, monkeys and few birds like owl, vulture, etc. The main problem is the distance between these 2 sections is half a kilometer (450 meters) with lot of stairs and climbing in between. So not recommended at all for elderly. If you want to see the leopard then go, else no point in going and can be skipped.

Cages are very small, they are keeping 1 vulture and 1 eagle in a single small cage which was used for a Black Bear in the past. Birds can't even flex their wings fully. The zoo is still building so I hope they will make it more animal friendly in future.

If you are expecting a zoo with a large area and lots of animals then this place will disappoint you .. When I visited The charge was just 20 rupees per person. There were only a few animals. Not even clicked a single picture in the zoo.. The authority should work on this place.

Almora Rasoi is a charming sweet shop in Almora that offers a delectable selection of traditional Indian sweets made with Desi ghee. The display of colorful treats is mesmerizing, showcasing a wide array of sweets with rich flavors and melt-in-your-mouth texture. While some items like Chocolate Barfi and ghever didn't quite hit the mark, the shop is still a must-visit for sweet lovers.
This charming sweet shop managed to capture the essence of traditional Indian sweets while also offering a modern touch. The display of sweets was nothing short of mesmerizing, showcasing a wide array of colourful treats that instantly sparked my curiosity. The variety offered at Almora Rasoi is remarkable. I stayed at the New Dolma Hotel for two months, situated next to Kasar Devi temple, offering convenience for devotees. Lalit, who attends to room guests, provided exceptional service and went above and beyond to fulfill requests. Overall, my experience at the hotel was satisfying.
Momos are favourite though I like thin layer covering, they have thick layering. The stuffing tastes amazing. Cold coffee is superb , had it twice. View is complete snow peak Himalayas. They have a good parking space and staff is really nice. Must try- Spring rolls.

Only ate here, did not stay in rooms, veg thali was reasonably good as was paratha and rajma. Service was quite good too. However they seem to have a problem with disposing of garbage from the premises and it seems to just get thrown over the back wall. The management/owners need to put a better waste management system in place to keep the beautiful Kumaon still beautiful. Have given 1 star because of garbage issue, if they resolve this I am happy to revise this. Swachh Bharat.

I had heard about Dolma restaurant which is the best place to eat in Kasar Devi. The ambiance of the restaurant is very good and a beautiful view of the valley is visible from here. You can eat food while sitting inside the restaurant and you can also eat food sitting outside. I had breakfast earlier. Potato onion paratha and coffee were very tasty. So I thought I will have dinner here also. For dinner I ordered thupka and momos. I had this in my mind that Chinese food here would be very tasty but Thupka and Momos did not live up to my expectations. The reason may be that I like a little spicy thupka. Service was very good at restaurant. I was here for a day so couldn't taste more food items. Next time I would definitely like to taste Chinese and Tibetan food here.

You not only get good food but also get food which is prepared with love, with purety, with local products of Uttrakhand. We had heard rave reviews about the Cafe and it didn't disappoint. Overlooking the mountains an anesthetic looking Cafe that serves a variety of food. Their steps to the cafe are a little steep and probably not idle for the unfit city dwelling above 60 population. We ordered their fresh lime soda and pizza for a quick evening snack and gobbled it down as soon as it came on the table.
DEVANSHI POWANI โ€” Google review
Ignore the comments about the bad food, we tried most of their items during our two night stay and all were amazing. Most notably the paratha! We also had like 15 lemon ginger honey teaโ€™s on our bill, they were very good! The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. They took our meals to the rooftop table or to our room, whatever we asked they accommodated. The manger Austin was very friendly and spoke great English. Outside of that, the views were stunning here. You can see the 7000m tall Himalayas in the background if the clouds are gone. Only negative was our space heater wasnโ€™t strong enough to keep the room warm during February. But not worth any less points, we just put extra clothes on. 100% would stay here again.

Inconsistent Food Quality and Unsettling Staff Behavior Review: I recently ordered a smokin chicken pizza from Alhito, and I was extremely disappointed by the awful quality of the food. Instead of the usual pizza sauce, it appeared that tomato ketchup was used, which completely ruined the taste. This kind of substitution is unacceptable, especially considering that I have been to Alhito before and the food has never been this awful. Furthermore, I have noticed a concerning change in the behavior of one of the staff members during my last two visits. Their demeanor was strange and off-putting, leaving me feeling uncomfortable and unsafe as a solo traveler. This kind of behavior is unacceptable and should not be tolerated in any service industry making an environment unsafe for female visitors. It is disheartening to have such a negative experience, especially when Alhito used to be a place I enjoyed visiting. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and takes immediate action to address these issues. Improving the food quality and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all guests should be top priorities.

Extremely disappointing service. We didnโ€™t even get to our food. We placed our order and waited 2 hours and still didnโ€™t receive our food. Our food was even carelessly given to another table. Despite the unsatisfactory service, the staff had the audacity to tell us that the newer customers were prioritised and we have to wait another 30mins. We ended up having to cancel it.
