Tiu Kelep Waterfall is a stunning natural wonder located in the small mountain village of Senaru in North Lombok, Indonesia. Situated at the base of Mount Rinjani and surrounded by lush jungle, it offers a breathtaking sight for visitors. The journey to reach Tiu Kelep involves traveling approximately 175 km from Mataram city, taking about 4 hours via different routes. The road to the waterfall can be steep and thrilling, adding an adventurous element to the trip.
Incredible waterfall that can be reached in about 20 minutes walk. Since you have to walk through the riverbed, either waterproof shoes or sandals are the most suitable footwear. Please take a guide, who will not only help you find the way to the waterfall, but can also give you a lot of information about the waterfalls. On the way to Tiu Kelep you will pass Sendang Gile waterfall, which is also very beautiful.

This was a very beautiful waterfall as well as the peaceful jungle way to it. I passed by a man who said to have turned around and I should not bother going any further as the water level is too high. I am happy I didn't listen to him as I was able to cross the river without even immersing my shorts. I suppose water level varies, just try and see. You can always turn around. Sandals or water shoes are the best choice here. In front of the waterfall you get a good shower. Anyway, you will not come back dry.

This is best waterfall in lombok island. Entrace ticket is 10k local & 20k foreigner. The access quite good. The surrounding was beautiful and clean. You will find group of monkey on your way but relax just don't bring any food / drink that will attract them. This is the second waterfalls here and you need about 45 minutes track from the entrance. Must come here, you won't regret !

Great falls and walking in the forest at the foot of ranjani mountains. Path way down is paved and easy, path to 2nd falls is not bad, but not paved(adds to the hike). Used local guide and brought us back through the tunnel, was a great experience.

If you're in Lombok, you have to visit this place! The waterfalls are breathtaking, and only a few minutes trek from each other. When we visited, there weren't too many tourists, and we had plenty of time to enjoy the water and views and to take pictures (unlike in Bali where you have to queue to get one). Before you enter, local guides will try to sell you packages with lunch, will have prices printed out, etc. but you can negotiate with them. You don't have to take the guide at all, but I'm happy we had one as he protected us from a couple of aggrevated monkeys. Also, the river crossings are easy, water doesn't reach your knees, and if you have water shoes or trainers that can dry quickly, you'll be fine. I wouldn't do it barefoot or in flip flops as stones are very slippery.
Daria Nowak — Google review
The best easily accessible waterfall in Lombok. This is accessible with a reasonable fee (also controlled by locals), unlike the unreasonable fee from the cartel controlling the entry like the one in the south. It's a straight forward route to reach this waterfall so a guide isn't necessary. A few streams to cross on the way so best with sandals or shoes that won't get soaking wet. A very lush landscape awaits you when you reach and is recommended to go early (we were the first group in the morning 830am) if you are interested in having a quiet experience before other groups arrive. The waterfall is massive and strong, creating lots of sprays in the air which is magical, but can be difficult for clear photography (gotta catch the wind direction too). Totally worth it with the short hike and to visit this gem of Lombok.

Beautiful waterfall! Theres a parking spot and the entrance fee was 20k per person for sendang gile and tiu kelep waterfalls. You walk down some stairs to sendang gile waterfall. To Tiu Kelep waterfall you have to hike twenty minutes along a river with glitchy stones. The way itself is also very nice. The Tiu Kelep is Just astonishing!
Florian Ambrosch — Google review
Absolutely loved this waterfall. The hike is fun, you have to cross the stream couple of times (wear water shoes/normal shoes). 20k entrance. Very clean. We saw some boys cleaning the stairs. We also took a dip-very refreshing. Locals will ask you if you want a guide, but you don't need one. We parked at Tiu Kelep Homestay and paid 5k for parking. Entrance is 20k. Worth the 2h drive from Senggigi 👌 We saw couple of monkeys on the way back, but don't pay attention to them. Enjoy this majestic waterfall for a while.

Had an amazing experience at this waterfall. The walk to reach here is also beautiful!! It’s clean and peaceful and so green everywhere!

Bring your swimsuit and be prepared to walk through the flowing river twice (less than a meter wide I'd say). Gets quite busy around noon, hoards of tour groups coming in. 20k entry per person to get to the sendang gile waterfall (then nothing after that).
Joie Lou — Google review
Very impressive waterfall. Can easily be done without a guide, as the way there is quite obvious. Just be aware that you need to cross the river multiple times so bring flipflop or water shoes. With a scooter you can drive directly to gate 1 and on the other side of the road there is parking for 10k. A bit before on the road people might want to sell you a guide and tell you it's not possible without one, but just drive a bit further up to the gate.
Timo Hegnauer — Google review
Locals at the entrance forced us into paying a local tour guide. we were not sure whether it was normal practice or not but the money they were asking at the beginning was ridiculous. They had a printed brochure where the price is 500k/solo traveler or 350k/ person for 2. We settled at 200k total (we were 2) and no food no water and including tickets (20k/foreigner). In the end having the guide wasn't that bad since the monkeys can get pretty aggressive and finding the way to second waterfall isn't that obvious. Though many tourists still went on their own and seemed doing ok. It's Just the feeling that they're trying to scam you is not appreciated. Like others have said in the comment section, if the locals wanna encourage tourism, they'd better not use such fishy practices, gives a bad image and feeling overall. Waterfalls are pretty though

Best! Worth walking up and down the steps. Cool shower from this spring waterfall. Really enjoy the view. Must visit. On way back, can try tubing in water. It costs 75k per person. Give some local teens income. At the end of tubing, can get on ojek (motorcycle) for 50k per person back to your parking area. Please wear water proof shoes as you will walk through water to get to the waterfall. Sandal is fine too.
MT — Google review
Nice walk, you can go with a guide but it dont have to. Entrance 25k p.p. At the first waterfall they sell pisang goreng, really nice (2k per piece). The second one is a little bit further but it is a good walk, also with kids. But be carefull with the stair by the bridge, it is not safe (you can see at my video). Our kids liked the walk. You can swim at the second waterfall but it is cold. You can also go in the water with tubes, it looks safe but i didn't trust it😅. The monkeys are greedy. So put away your food.

Been here back in 2017. Beautiful waterfall and nature. Need to walk about 30 minutes more or less to reach here. During my visit, it was raining a little bit, so I couldn't get a good picture. A bit dissappointed but feeling bless to have set foot here. Such a majestic waterfall. Beautiful scenic and refreshing.
nazara iwan — Google review
15-20 min trekking from Sendeng Gile to Tiu Kelep waterfall. It have the same entrance for both waterfalls. Just don't pay to the office. If they force, pay 100k per person.
Muhammad Khairul Nizam Kamarudin — Google review
Incredible waterfall. It's also a bit of a fun adventure to get there. Definitely worth going to! We went in the rainy season, so it poured. I recommend you bring some waterproof bags /rain jackets - we didn't and regretted it. Despite the heavy rain, crossing the streams was no problem and the water was no higher than knee high (approx. 30-40cm). There are local guides there. You don't need them. One of them told us monkeys would bite us if we didn't go with him, but the monkeys were fine, and didn't bother us at all. There is a small entry fee (around 25k pp if I remember correctly) to get into the park, but it's worth it.

After spending some time in the area, a local guide will lead you on a walking tour back to the parking lot. Lunch will be served at a nearby restaurant in Senaru followed by a visit to the traditional village of Adat Senaru where ancient ways of life and civilization of mountain tribes still exist as part of nature.
Feel the real lombok in this village,, amazing experiences,,
Pipiet Tri Pitaka — Google review
Amazing experience. Really saw how this tribe live. Most interesting bit was seeing how self sufficient they are in terms of growing their own cotton, cacao, rice, avocados and more. Our guide was wonderful- definitely worth getting a guided tour or it wouldn’t look like much.
Suzanne P — Google review
We were greeted warmly by the people here in the village. Decided to pay a guide. Very interesting tour. Our guide explained their way of life and showed us many foods they grow themselves. Like avocado, vanilla, jackfruit, candlenuts, cacao, kapok, bubble plant, beetlenut, etc. We saw inside some of the houses. She explained how the houses were constructed and how and when the thatched roofs were replaced. The tour was definitely a good option. It was very informative.

Children from this village are so friendly and made us so happy! 😊 We bought them balloons, notebooks, balls etc and spent a day with them. You can see from my photos that children were more than happy and grateful! 🥳

Some people there are just so friendly. We talked alot, they offers me place to stay a night. Then, i try the combination of pinang, daun sirih, kapur, and tobacco. What they used to make their lips red and they chew it like gum, before throwing it out few hours llater. They are all super warm and friendly, so lucky to know them ❤️

A waterfall near Senaru village. About 2-3km trek from entrance. You may have to pass through small rivers & slippery rocks, so grippy trekking sandal would be the best. Otherwise, be careful when trekking with your slippers. Entrance open at 8am, approx 10k idr for local & 20k idr for foreigner? Allow about min 1 hr for return trip + chill so you are not in rush.

I suggest do not visit this place in rainy season. In rainy season the road become very slippery and highly dangerous. The local here will try to pull as much money from you so be wise. The scenery itself is fantastic the area is very fresh and the vibe it's so calming
Yudha Pratama — Google review
As noted by a prior reviewer, be wary of the locals in this area. I lost a personal item while on this hike and a seemingly friendly local guide offered to help track it down. He managed to locate the item after we had left, which was welcome news. He informed me that the property now belonged to him, however, and that I would need to pay him a relatively large amount (a ‘ransom’ he said) if I wanted it back. He also implied that the locals really don’t want tourists around the area, and that they had no qualms taking property from tourists. As such, I’d recommend being careful bringing anything of value to this hike or trusting the guides to watch your property. The hike itself is very straightforward and is paved most of the way. There isn’t really a need for a guide, but the guides are fairly aggressive in trying to get you to hire one. It’s a shame honestly as the waterfalls are very peaceful and in two months traveling through Indonesia this was the only place we had any negative encounters with locals.

BE CAREFUL with the PARKING!!! The person that sold the tickets from the entrance in the gate two with his two friends, stolen our helmets and flattened our tires because we didn’t park our motorbike in their parking. Go from the other entrance and definitely don’t park there! The waterfall though is amazing, the peoples attitude it the problem. Of course do not take a guide.
Joanna Zerva — Google review
Beautiful waterfall, but be prepared to traverse 100 steps, pretty steep. I read where someone described the walk as fairly moderate....yep, if you're fit and 25.
Gav Smith — Google review
I do not recommend coming. The juice is not worth the squeeze. This location is considerably far from any of the common places to stay in Lombok. You need a pretty long drive and I don't think the spot compensates for the energies invested. Apart from that It is beautiful and there are Monkies around. Like in any other spot in Indonesia. This place is targeted for "local guides". You do not need a local for a 5 minute walk downstairs. But they are very pushy so right on arrival you feel the pressure....and this my friends happens in most iconic places you visit Indonesia. The best is to understand that is going to happend and is going to ruin your peace. But it is a good practice to enforce your assertiveness. To the locals: do not pressure western clients. Put a banner with a price and wait people to come to you. This is how we buy stuff in the west.

1 star cos as always local makes you crazy. There is only 2 way to get in and get out. Super simple steps and road . And local guides will tell you scary stories how dangerous there and that is why you need to pay them . Nature is perfect

DONT PARK YOUR MOTORBIKE HERE. Stoles our helmets and flattened our tires. Made fun of us afterwards. Go from another entrance

Senaru Crater Rim, standing at 2,641m, is a popular trekking destination on Mount Rinjani. Unlike the summit hike which may be closed due to earthquakes and weather conditions, the Senaru Crater Rim hike is usually open and considered safe with no significant drop-offs. The trail offers stunning views of Rinjani summit, the crater rim, Segara Anak Lake, volcano and even Mount Agung in Bali.
Challenging Yet Rewarding Trek on Mount Rinjani As a 40-year-old, fit and athletic but not a regular hiker, I found the 2D1N Senaru Crater Rim hike on Mount Rinjani to be challenging but doable. I did this hike mid April and it was relatively quiet (shoulder season, still a bit rainy). It took me approximately 6.5 hours to hike up to the crater rim base camp, including lunch and a few short breaks. The descent took less than 5 hours. Some part of the mountains are quite steep and requires climbing up rocky terrain. Upon arriving at the base camp around 2pm, it was quite cloudy and I couldn't see much. However, the next morning at sunrise (around 6am), the view was simply breathtaking and made the entire hike worth it. I highly recommend bringing a hiking pole (which my tour operator provided), a rain jacket or a warm jacket for the top of the mountain as it does get cold, long trekking pants, and flip flops to change into in case hiking shoes get soaked. Be prepared for all weather conditions, as it can change quickly. Overall, this trek was an unforgettable experience. Despite the challenges, the stunning views at sunrise made it all worthwhile. If you're up for a rewarding adventure and want to witness Mount Rinjani's beauty, this trek is definitely worth considering.

Wow....this is realy the most beuatiful mountain view I have ever seen in the world. The beuatiful lake Segara anak surrounding with mount barujari and the peak of mount Rinjani. This is realy a crazy amazing view. I love so much🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

This is a spectacular camping spot. Sunrise and sunset amazing with the top of Rinjani in front. It is a perfect place to camp after the first part of the climb. Next we camped on the lake shore in the crater before the final ascent to the top starting at 1am. We did it solo with a friend back in 1996, but I would recommend a guide if you're not familiar with challenging trekkings.
Sven Dutoit — Google review
Does not get much better than this. Can be reached by day hike or several days hike, with sleepover in the campsites on the rim. The views are extra good as you can see Rinjani summit, the rim, lake, volcano and Bali including Mount Agung in the other side. The trail here from the lake is pretty treacherous, should be avoided if possible in the dark. Also, it is advised to be taken from the lake, not to the lake, due to being steep and more dangerous going down.
