During their four-day stay at Marari beach, the individual and their companion frequented Palm Heaven Homely Seafood every evening. The cuisine served there is exceptional, particularly the fish and chicken curries - considered the most delectable after a month of exploring Kerala. While waiting for their food, which is prepared fresh, customers may have to endure a 20 to 30-minute delay depending on how busy the restaurant is.
We enjoyed a couple of excellent meals here - very nice sardines in their fish fry, and the tuna half was very enjoyable! The coconut rice was also a pleasant surprise, it's very tasty. The host too is very friendly and accommodating, and I would recommend this place to anyone wanting a good meal by the sea.

Me and my partner stayed at Marari beach for 4 days and visited here every evening. The food is incredible and after exploring Kerala for a month, I can say that this is where we ate the best fish and chicken curry. Yes, you may have to wait about 20 - 30 minutes for your food - depending on how busy the restaurant is - but that is because the food is prepared fresh. It is definitely worth the wait - the curries are fragrant, aromatic and extremely flavourful rather than overly spicy. The atmosphere is laidback and calm. The staff are very friendly and attentive also. I look forward to visiting again in the future. 😊🙏🏼

This is an amazing place just by the beach on the sand - great vibe and good view of the sunset. The staff are friendly and the service is efficient. The food was very delicious - we had two veg rice, two veg curry, salad (amazing), two chapatis and two cold coffees and all came to just under rs700. They have plenty of comfy seating areas and a toilet. It's just couple of mins walk from beach road, which is the only paved road to marari beach.

Grandma Hotel in Mararikulam offers a delightful dining experience with a wide variety of both vegan and non-veg dishes, particularly specializing in delicious Kerala fish curry and fish fry options. The ambiance is cozy and reminiscent of home, although there is room for improvement in terms of cleanliness. During the afternoon session, they serve delectable Kerala meals featuring veg and non-veg choices alongside fragrant Kerala rice. They also accommodate special requests for different kinds of fish dishes.
The hotel's homely food was a delightful experience, reminiscent of a home-cooked meal. The tasty pickles added a burst of flavor, and the fish fry and fish polichathu were absolutely delicious. A wonderful culinary journey for those seeking authentic and comforting dishes.

Granma Hotel was THE BEST eating outlet in and around Mararikulam beach. I visited this place after doing some research on google and it was such an amazing restaurant that I ended up visiting this place thrice in 3 days. Finding this restaurant is not tricky at all. It is near Shreemahadev temple (roughly about 1.5 kms from Mararikulam beach). This restaurant is just 50 meters from a railway crossing. Since I honestly don’t have any cons about this place, I will just write the highlights: 1. Vegetarian Food was simply the BEST PART. It was fresh, delicious, home cooked and carried all local flavours. A vegetarian thali that included rice, rasam, curd, sambhar, beatroot pickle, coconut based veggies, popaddum and couple of other sides :) Do try Porota (kerela style bread) 2. Fish and Prawn masala - This was OMG taste for a non veg lover like myself. All above veggie thali inclusions will come with a bowl full of tuna or a local fish curry and plate of prawn masala. Simply DELICIOUS. I went twice to the restaurant to eat the same sea food. Make sure to visit the restaurant between 12:30 to 3:00 pm to enjoy above sea food. 3. Food was served in banana leaf which was very authentic and unique 4. Place is neat and clean with basic furniture 5. You will be greater with a whole hearted smile 😃 If ur staying anywhere in or around Marari beach or Alleppy.. DO NOT MISS a chance to visit this place. Simply amazing.

I ventured away from the wonderful Maaraaikulum beach to view the impressive Hindu Temple at Mararikulum Junction. The very special treat was finding Granma Hotel (restaurant). Some of the very best food I have had in the three weeks I have been in Kerala. Fresh water fish in banana leaf, fresh sambar, a white veg curry, three pickles, cleansing pullisseri and another highlight the Theeyal (Elephant Yam and coconut paste). I am here for another three days and will be back at least twice more I am sure.

Wow This place really surprised me. The whole beach looks like it’s been upgraded and brings a Goa vibe. The restaurant was fantastic . Nirmal and the other guy( can’t remember his name, sorry) were very helpful. Food was delicious and well cooked. The ambience was something else. Somethjbg that I never thought I would experience in a Kerala beach. Will definitely visit again.

One of the worst experience ever. They didn't have staff. Made all visitors wait for more than an hour before serving food. And even after waiting one and half hour we didn't get complete order. Was served wrong order. The taste of food was not great. Someone can even make lime juice so bad. Really bad experience. Won't recommend.

This great restaurant made our stay in Marari perfect. We came here on the first day and found it hard not to come for every meal here as the food and vibes were by far the best on the beach. The food is delicious and great prices. The music was always on point with a daily different soundtrack from reggae, to pink Floyd to Radiohead. Alpha, Sunil, Nirmal were the best hosts and delicious food from George and Luca the cutest funniest kiddo ever (destined for Bollywood!) really made it feel sweet with the coolest, most down to earth, caring and fun relaxed family vibes. This feels like what Goa might have been like back in the day or the Caribbean but has its own distinct local flavour . Would definitely recommend and will be back next year.

Carol Days Restaurant is a charming little seaside eatery that exudes an inviting aura. Located near Marari Beach, this cozy shack offers a delightful culinary experience. The menu features delectable options such as Pomfret and French Fries for those seeking a lighter meal. To our surprise, the fish dish was accompanied by rice, gravy, beetroot side dish, and papad. The food served here is not only homely but also remarkably flavorful.
Beautiful quiet beach, with perfect sand and sea. We had fried crab with curry and rice and fried sardines and mackerel. The fry marinade was delicious. The fish was fresh.
Leah Martin — Google review
A beautiful small shack looked very inviting as we walked straight by the Marari Beach after a fun morning at the beach. We had ordered one plate of Pomfret and one plate of French Fries because we wanted to eat light. Little did we know that the one plate of fish we ordered came with one bowl of rice, one bowl of gravy, a beetroot side dish and papad (which was a pleasant surprise). The food was homely and tasted really good. Everything was clean and freshly prepared. They even served us some fresh orange segments at the end which was a really nice touch to the beautiful experience. All in all our tummies were full and we had only spent a few bucks. A real value for money Overall, a really nice find and a must visit if you go to Marari Beach.

Delicious food (especially the fish). The menu goes by what was caught this day which is perfect in my opinion because it is the only way to ensure that the fish is fresh and local. The hut itself is very cute and directly on the beach. We even spotted dolphins while we were eating!!!

A simple beach cafe which serves up really good food. Nice and clean, and friendly. We were happy to linger most of the afternoon here! Not the fastest service for food as cooked fresh, but worth the wait Daughter Akhari is also just starting a massage and treatment center close by after working in the big resorts - she's very good!

We went here as our favourite restaurant (the eponymous Palm Heaven) was full, and seeing that this place has good reviews we came here instead. There was no one there when we arrived, so we expected a fairly speedy service. We ordered a very simple meal, which seemed good value as the fried fish came with rice, veg curry and dessert. However, after 20 minutes an Indian couple arrived with their guide, who ordered separately and then they were served within 10 minutes. Meanwhile we still hadn't received any food, or any communication. When our food did arrive (after 45 minutes) the food was very underwhelming, with tough bland squid and no veg curry. When we asked the waiter about the curry he said there was no veg curry today, just veg fried rice instead - which was again a meager replacement, and wasn't hot. In short, we waited far too long for food that barely needed cooking and was dull when it finally arrived. You are much better off at Palm Heaven down the beach (nearer the road entrance to the beach).

Super tasty crab and very good fresh sardines! We tried almost all the food places around the area and this is definetely the best spot if you like seafood and fish. The restaurant is run by a local family and they are very caring, awesome place!!
