Points of Interest & Landmarks
Guinsa Temple is a magnificent complex consisting of over 30 modern buildings nestled in a picturesque valley with lush forested slopes. The temple halls are connected by raised pathways, and visitors may hear the sounds of monks chanting as they ascend towards the opulent three-storey hall dedicated to the temple's founder at the top. The views from this elevated point are breathtaking, showcasing both the temples and mountains stretching out into the horizon. The name of this attraction translates to 'Protect Benevolence Temple.
Temple stay is really good. The monks, volunteers, and people here are really friendly and helpful. I learned a lot from here. It is really modern and convenient for temples stay. You have tea 🍵, small meals and the main meal. The toilets are in good condition in the temple stay, we can have hot water 😉 The morning ceremony is a wonderful experience, so be sure not to miss it. Be mindful and peaceful.

This place is an experience like no other. Just be prepared for a hike because the incline is very very real at this place. The temple buildings are flawless and the details are so captivating. I would recommend going in April because the weather is perfect and the flowers that bloom during the spring are so beautiful. I would go back and recommend.

After I left this place, I felt so calm and at ease...I returned to Seoul feeling and thinking differently about the world around me. @drfrancoismarc @dfmtravel

Guinsa, (Temple of Salvation and Kindness) is an experience like very few around the world. Guinsa is fairly new, dating back to only 1945. A very nice and steep hike from the carpark through all the different structures to the top, Nirvana, a small burial and pilgrimage place, provides a visual experience that is both beautiful and unique. The flawless buildings with hundred's of intricate details, are simply captivating. The "Daejosajeon" or "Great Teacher Hall" near the top of the valley is the crowning structure. I would recommend visiting this beautiful place in October due to the relative mild weather and the beautiful and colorful foliage of Fall. This is a must visit on any trip to South Korea.

Guinsa is an amazing place to visit and a must go for anyone who visits and/ or lives in Korea. The entire temple grounds are massive, with some of the most stunning buildings and shrines I have ever seen. The main temple is worth seeing in person as photographs do not do it justice. To get there, there is a direct bus from Dong (east) Seoul. Or from Danyang Intercity Bus Terminal you could take the local bus for about ₩1,250 or the coach bus for ₩4,500.

The Guinsa Temple, located in the So-baek Mountains. Is the most beautiful temple I have visited in Korea. There is parking available at the bottom of the mountain for 3,000 won that includes a free Shuttle to the entrance of the village. After that, prepare your body soul for a hard hike up, with many, many, many stairs. I will recommend you bring water but in case you forget, there are a few vending machines on the way that offer water and cold coffee. Going up the views and the buildings are breathtaking. They offer accomodations with a temple stay at very reasonable prices. If you are in Korea this temple is a must visit.

It was a beautiful temple to visit. Please do not expect young children to be okay (not complain) as they walk up towards the temple. Especially during the summer months. The temple is beautiful and really worth the sweat you will incur by hiking up to the temple. Wear comfortable shoes.
Del Mar — Google review
Temple in the Danyang area. Admission is ₩3,000. It’s a 800meter walk from the gate uphill—so wear comfortable shoes. Temple stays are offered at 3d/2n.

This temple is absolutely stunning and a must if you are travelling in south korea! The temple is huge and beautiful. Stay there at night and go up to the top to see a real gemstone ;) We did the one night temple stay which is quite interesting. Medidating, tea time and talking with a monk is so interesting. Also the early morning consciousness walk to the top of the mountain was so impressive.

Danuri Aquarium

My 4 year old and I took the KTX to Danyang and spent the day at the Aquarium. There are lockers, strollers, a nursing room, a gift shop and so much to do and see. The staff were super friendly and made extra effort to communicate in English. We'll be visiting again this year ~ can't wait! Thanks for a wonderful day (^^,)

☆LOTS TO SEE BUT LITTLE TO DO: piscophiles, mermaids, and wannabe marine biologists will enjoy this peaceful underwater world, but adrenaline junkies should pass and head up to the parasailing at the head of Danyang Valley.☆ 10 thousand won for adults, 7 for youth/teen, 5 for child. This aquarium is mostly stocked with Korean and Asian varieties of fish, a small reptile display, and bonus chipmunk tube and otter pond. Well signed in Korean and English. Huge central tank with plenty of viewing spots and the de rigeur walk through tube so you can be underwater with the sharks. A fish petting pool has handwash stations and a dryer, considerately. Piranhas up close, polka dot sting rays, the huge 'dragon turtle' and the giant *Arapaima gigas* were highlights for my teen. The fishing exhibits and vintage fishing gear, rods, reels, hooks, and tied flies may seem a little out of place unless you are familiar with the national passion for angling. If you get enjoyment out of watching beautiful fish in immaculately maintained and designed tanks, absolutely go for it! If you have small ones who need to be entertained with activities, shows, and interactive displays, give it a miss. Parents, also be aware that there is no gift shop, or food/drink concessions: a coin operated dispenser at the very end of the tour offers 10 thousand won plushie fish, bunnies, chipmunks, etc. and 2 buck keyrings.

You should better check whether your city is in alliance with Danyang for discounted ticket! ;)

We came here only because it was raining, but we actually had a pretty great time. The gift shop was cute and there was a cool cleaning robot at the entrance. Although it was an aquarium, there were chipmunks, which were SOOOO cute! The otters were also soo adorable!

Gosu Cave is a natural cave that offers picturesque walks through narrow passages and stairways. It boasts unique features that set it apart from other caves, making it an incredibly beautiful destination for adventure seekers. The cave requires visitors to be prepared for many stairs and a long walk, but the experience is worth the effort. Gloves are provided to ensure better grip on slippery handrails. Overall, visiting Gosu Cave is a memorable and amazing experience that should not be missed.
Beautiful stalactites and stalagmites! Visitors can expect to see various limestone formations, underground lakes, and unique geological features. Guided tours are often available, and there are informational displays throughout the cave to help visitors learn about its geological and historical significance.

This cave is defenitellyy interesting expireince! Seriously cool rock formations and it's like a natural art gallery underground. The stuff is friendly and the entrance is 4,000 won. The whole place has this mysterious vibe, and there's even a little shiny lake. 🌟

Very Memorable experienced to visit this AMAZING GOSU CAVE
New Captured — Google review
These caves are mineral rocks which have been formed naturally. It is a 990m long stretch with different rocks. It takes around an hour to complete the tunnel and the experience will be good.
Naveen Gurazada — Google review
Definitely worth the visit! The cave is so unique, and it's kind of an easy hike inside the cave. Although, it's quite wet, dark and cold. I suggest to bring more clothing in the summer as it is 15 degrees inside the cave. I don't recommend for young children or elderly as it can be slightly dangerous. The views are spectacular though! If I could read korean I would learn way more!

Mesmerized by the formation of limestone structures. Very amazing and informative. Stairs are secured. Just be careful if you are claustrophobic. Must visit if you are in danyang.

Fantastic cave system with extensive steel walking path throughout. Amazing stalactite rock formations inside with pools of water often opens into huge caverns. It's about 2 hours or 3 hours to get here from Seoul but definitely worth it and doable for a day trip. Takes about 45 minutes to walk through.
Ethan Clansky — Google review
Very interesting for me. I was pretty impressed by The older people who made it all the way through. Just be careful, there are some tight squeezes and the metal floor is quite slippery in many places.
Justin Paul Fontana — Google review
The second cave I have ever been to in South Korea. What made me interested in visiting Gosu Cave was because I heard that this cave is not a man-made cave. This cave has been formed past a few tens of millions of years. I think it took about 40 to 50 minutes to explore the cave, it was nice to be able to see stalagmites and stone pillars. They gave gloves since it is quite slippery inside.

Dodamsambong Peaks is a popular tourist destination featuring three irregular rock formations emerging from a river. The attraction offers fountain shows and speedboat rides, as well as traditional boat riding along with a small rock formation and a viewing pavilion. While there is no entrance fee, visitors must pay for parking. The area is generally clean and well-maintained, however the constant loud playing of Korean trot music may disturb some tourists.
There are 8 famous sceneries in Danyang city, South Korea. They are called Danyang 8 sceneries. Dodam3bong is the 7th scenery. Around the lake, we can take a walk and take pictures. Some are enjoying the boat on the river. Pudding rather than praise. After having meal near the K-food restaurant, We can reach the '만천하스카이워크' to take 10minutes by car. 'Whole world Skywalk' is opened in 2019. We move to the top of the moutain by express bus. Finally we meet the moment to walk on the sky. At first, I felt a little scary. But I could calm down soon. On the top, we can enjoy the beautiful Danyang sceneries. They look like water painting pictures. Pastel and greenery colors fascinate my eyes. Absoutely also your 👀~~^^ The 9th scenery is going to market to buy something yummy. Across the market, we can see the paragliding people fly in the sky. What a free moment it is! People jonesings to fly like a bird for a long time. Finally we can fly in many ways. How marvelous the people are!
