Graceland is a museum dedicated to Elvis Presley, the king of rock and roll. The estate is located in Memphis, Tennessee, and contains many memorabilia items from the performer's life as well as his burial site. Throughout the month of August, visitors can participate in Elvis week festivities which include music concerts and films about the singer.
You definitely could easily spend an entire day here.Places to eat. It was amazing to see especially the older style/memorabilia. Also the home video footage on several screens throughout the tour of the mansion, was neat to be looking at or standing right next to that area where it was taken. The planes were very neat, to see what he traveled in was awesome. Overall wonderful trip!

Amazing experience. Went to the tour after seeing the Elvis movie and I was not disappointed. There was so much to see and the entry was easily worth it. Spent over 5 hours here and that was without reading everything. From the mansion, car museum, records, awards, costumes I was amazed with every step. Best museum I've been to hands down.

Amazing!!! We chose the ultimate VIP experience. It was expensive but very much worth it. I'm not sure I could ever go back without choosing the ultimate VIP package. Our tour guide was, quite simply, awesome. He was friendly, caring, knowledgeable, well spoken, and yeah, awesome. We were allowed to hold an actual Elvis artifact. In this case, one of the boots from his stage worn ensembles. We had to wear white gloves, which we got to keep, and they put the boot right in our hands. Wow. Also, the package included return to the house all day and front of line access to the shuttle back and forth to Graceland. Amazing!!!

Bucket List item accomplished!!! I am thrilled to have had the experience of visiting Graceland and all of the areas across the street containing Elvis's history and items. I was very moved while at the gravesite area...the mansion is beautiful. I highly recommend a visit, it was very interesting with lots and lots to see. We also had lunch at the diner named after Elvis's Mother. I must have taken over 200 photos, but can only share some here. We bought tickets in advance, not sure if it's the only way to do so, we went in the morning and it was very busy. We arrived at the main centre, where you park and checked in, then they drove a group of us across the street (in a small bus) to the mansion. It did feel a bit rushed, but I was able to see all areas where we were permitted to go. Back across the street where you begin, there are several buildings, one with all of his vehicles, one with all of his outfits and jewellery and albums, one with his military career items, one with personal items like books, baby items and gift shops and a restaurant. It was a great experience, I am very happy to have been able to visit.

What can I say about Graceland that hasn't been said? It is an awesome place which is better than what anyone can write about it. Elvis has such an awesome, crazy, fun, and sad story. Graceland tells all these stories and love his stories. His Home and Museum really brings him to life. Graceland has so many different rooms which bring his decorating style to life. From his shag carpet walls, the peacocks on the walls, 3 TV Room to watch football, and all the other crazy rooms to see.

We went there reluctantly because friends came in from out of town. We were pleasantly surprised. It actually was a good time. I was impressed with all of the museums they had there. We spent about 3 hours there and still didn't do the whole tour. Some of the areas were closed. The price we paid was reasonable. And our guests were first-timers also. And they said they really had a great time.

I have not been to Graceland since the mid-90s, but I am so glad I went back! While the house is truly a 1977 time capsule, the real amazing experience (in my opinion) are the museums across from the house, from his vehicles, military gear, the artifacts from the house over time, and stars that were influenced by Elvis. If you only have time for one, however, the museum about his incredible career over 3 decades is really something to see. Original contracts from RCA, family kept records, every piece of clothing / suit walls and the 3-story tall gold and platinum awards wall did not disappoint. It was the last thing I saw in my experience and I was simply blown away by the impact.

I loved this tour. I had been to Graceland previously many years ago, but it was on my bucket list to redo. my husband and I did the VIP tour which I would highly recommend gave us access to all of the Graceland grounds and museums. I was impressed on how well everything has been done. They even had a Lisa Marie Museum that was hard for me to do it, it was very sad. I am a huge Elvis fan. My husband and I spent five hours there and even ate at Vernon’s barbecue. the food was very good. We shared a barbecue sampler plate and to be honest it was the best brisket I had in Memphis. The meditation garden was beautiful. I remembered the last time I was there. It seemed like it was junkie, but I did not feel that way this time. Everything was very neat and tidy. They also have built a new hotel right next-door to Graceland. we are traveling with our trailer or otherwise I would have loved to have stayed there. They take your pictures at the very beginning. I thought they were really cool photos and we bought them. It’s a picture of you standing in front of the gates at Graceland, which is not possible because the gates are open. I enjoyed touring the planes and going through all the museums. One of my favorite things was all of Elvis‘s jumpsuits that were on display and his gold records. If you haven’t been in the last few years when they redone this whole complex, I highly recommend going back. It is very well done.

OMG what can I say. I have been an Elvis fan all my life and finally crossed this off my bucket list which surpassed expectations! Easy to get to, shuttle across the street was simple. The house is better than what you have seen in pix. His style was so cool. The living rooms, kitchen, jungle room were so incredible. We went with mom on a wheelchair and she was able to see most (she was moved from stairs around back, very smooth). Backyard with horses was gorgeous. Seeing the pool and to the meditation garden where he and family are laid to rest was somber. Awesome to be able to pay respects to the king of rock n roll!!! We did the experience tour included the plane. Honestly don't know the difference between VIP and lower your. If cash is an issue go with least expensive option since seems like u see all there is. The plane was very cool and the interactive items after the tour were a lot of fun. Definitely recommend this to all fans

We loved it! Expect lines and a lot of waiting. Even if you buy a 9:00am ticket you may be there, in various lines, for an hour before you actually go in Graceland. Buy tickets online when planning your trip to get the best time. If you buy there you may be waiting hours to go on the tour. The home is beautiful and has been kept in its same condition since Elvis passed. You could easily spend five or six hours here looking at all of the memorabilia, his planes, cars, etc. Would definitely recommend going!

Visiting Graceland is a longtime wish come true. It's a surprisingly reliable experience it reminded me of my childhood especially the kitchen. The house reflects the owner, unique and over the top but still fun and somewhat charming. The car museum is fantastic, the stage outfits spectacular as expected. The archives and personal items are very interesting. The Icons exhibit was great it shows how Elvis has influenced many other musicians. It's an important place to see for anyone interested in American history and culture.

Special shout out to Sheila our tour guide. She gave an experience of a lifetime and truly brought the stories and facts of Graceland to life. To anyone who has wished to visit this beautiful property I fully encourage you to do so! It does not disappoint. Such a surreal feeling being on these grounds and touring the life of Elvis Presley.

My wife and I are big Elvis fans and this was a long time coming. And it definitely was worth the visit. We got the Ultimate VIP Package. That is the top package you can get. We loved every bit of our time there. We went on a hot day, so that was the only thing that we didn't like. But you spend most of the time inside the mansion, museums, gift shops, restaurants. You do have to walk down to the planes. But we loved it all. Would definitely go back again one day!

Just amazing! It's really a must visit at least once in your life. The mansion is like stepping back in time. Just visiting Memphis is great by itself. There is so much history, good food and music. There are great hotels and many nice airbnb locations. Visiting Graceland was a memorable experience. It left a lasting impression. Going on Elvis' plane was one of my favorite experiences.

If you're a Elvis Presley fan, this is a Must! The whole feeling was amazing! Visited his grave too ( Tip: be there outside the gates at 7:30 and beat the crowds for clear photos without too many people). Stayed at the Elvis Presley guest house hotel, very clean nice stay. We went on to see his shotgun shack in Mississippi too... Including Sun Recording studio, and RCA studio B...All worth seeing ( as said, if you're a fan, these are a must!). Highly recommend.

I had never taken the time to get to know Elvis but we went on a guided tour and got to explore and experience some pretty awesome things. I had such a great time and was really impressed with how well Elvis' things are being kept without taking out the authenticity of it. We got some awesome pictures and even got to white glove, touch one of Elvis' guitars. I have a new amazing appreciation for Elvis and his music and how he treated others.

Elvis is my mothers favorite person, even more so than my father! So I’m shocked it took me over 40 years to come say hi. I took a million pictures here and I’m so sad I can only post 50 so you’ll have to go to see the rest! This place is amazing! I felt so many emotions walking through this home and then through all the museums across the street. I felt like every aspect was so well thought out, creating an emotional response in me. From the good to bad to sad, you get it all. I highly recommend the VIP experience, too. You get to see rooms others don’t get to, plus depending on your level of VIP you either get a tour guided group or a headset. Granted, it’s a little costly, but I think it was worth it. If you find yourself in Memphis, I can’t say enough great things about Graceland. Make sure to stay at the Guesthouse, too!
kat — Google review
Graceland is a site I feel everyone should visit, but it’s a bit too commercial. There’s so many different packages you can buy and they all cost a lot of money. The complex is also always packed with people and the experience doesn’t feel intimate at all. At the same time, you are touring Elvis’s estate and getting to look up close at plenty of important artifacts. The tour includes all the rooms on the first floor of the mansion, other buildings on the property, Elvis’s grave, Elvis’s private planes, his expansive car collection, and the huge museum area with countless personal possessions from Elvis and Graceland. There’s plenty of signs that give valuable information about what you’re seeing and there’s iPads with headsets to give you a virtual tour. Unfortunately, the staff is very grouchy and not very hospitable. This place definitely needs better management and needs to be more friendly, but I’d still recommend visiting Graceland because there’s so much to see and learn. It’s a very fun and knowledgeable experience overall.
Frenite — Google review
Good experience for first timers but after walking around all day through tours, its a lot. Wear comfy shoes. We paid for the VIP tour. Not certain it's worth it. You get a guide giving you insights on things. They also include a couple more private areas but nothing over the top for the cost of VIP. Overall if you haven't toured, it's worth a ticket, just not a VIP IMHO.

Fully enjoyed this experience was definitely one of the best museums I have ever visited. The tour of the mansion itself was very informative and eye opening to see how Elvis lived. And while that was entertaining my favourite parts were actually the other museums such as the career one, I enjoyed seeing parts of Elvis past and also all of his outfits and awards, it's mind blowing to actually see it all in one room, and think about the immense influence that Elvis had and still has. Would 100% recommend visiting if you're in Memphis.

This was so good we came back six months later. I felt 7 hrs wasn’t enough to take it all in. I wanted to read everything and absorb it into my memory. It’s special, you will see. A bit of advice, if it rains or snows and you miss your tour time the day you go, your ticket is guaranteed all day for any tour as long as it is for that day. You’re welcome.😉

Neat place to visit if you love THE KING! Staff was friendly and helpful. Lots of information to take in. Parking was easy. There's plenty to do and see. Great souvenirs. It's definitely a must for Elvis fans. Buy tickets in advance.

I’ve been wanting to go to Graceland since the 70’s…. Don’t know why! Maybe the charisma. Maybe the opulence. Maybe the music. Maybe the footwork. Maybe the car game. I now know it’s all that! At the mansion, the front living room, where Elvis entertained guest, was elegantly decorated; The decor was very classy mid-century. The jungle room was wild with all the animal prints, even the lampshades had animal print. My favorite room was the billiard room with all the fabric covered walls and ceilings…350 yards of fabric! Say what you will about the “King”…his enthusiasm for cars is not lost on me. Elvis had incredible taste in automobiles/motorized vehicles. I loved the “Entourage” experience with self guided devices. I recommend this experience to anyone remotely interested. 5 stars for me

This place is just fantastic! For what you pay for, you get everything you'd want to and then some. When you get a ticket to check the place out, you get to learn the history of Elvis, as well as the various belongings he had such as his jet, mansion, outfits, and including all sorts of history I never knew about the King. After experiencing this place, I can certainly say that's it's absolutely worth it to get a nice spring or autumn vacation time and a drive down to Memphis to explore the various goods this place has to offer!

If you are an Elvis' fans, this is the place that you should visit. I never regret that I have insisted to make this trip, although I needed to drive 18 hours to go home. When you walked through the buildings of Graceland, wearing the headset they provided , you would be touched by the Elvis songs when you were walking around his sitting rooms, dinning room , the basement, the trophy rooms, the museums, the garden.......You could feel that Elvis was still around us. A great experience in visiting this place, it has become like a theme park. You can understand how he had become the King of Rock & Roll ! It's amazing to see all the awards and trophies that he had won. Getting on his 2 planes experience is something you will never forget. I wonder if I could go to visit it again, because it's really too far away for me. '

Pricey for admission. Almost $300.00 for three adults. I thought that was a bit ridiculous. But what's not ridiculously expensive these days!? The tour is amazing. I like the fact you can explore at your own pace, or stay with the tour group. Also for all the info. Your offered a tablet at the beginning, and it gives you the same info, the lady said that was handing them out. It's sad, but understandable you can't go upstairs. That would be something to see for sure! What you do get to see is an amazing piece of history though, especially if your a fan! All in all I would pay the price for at least a one time,"once in a lifetime"experience.

Graceland is an experience I'll never forget. Seeing inside Elvis house, the planes, the Lisa Marie plane was so big! The collection of cars' bikes and other things was really great! But to see where he lays in heavenly peace with his family. That's an amazing thing I'll never forget. My husband and I enjoyed our visit very much. But we paid a lot to see the house. I wish they would have allowed us to see the upstairs as well. It's a lot of money to only see half the house. I do hope to take my grandkids one day.

I visited Graceland Mansion and I thought it was an amazing experience. I would love to go back. It was crowded but the wait wasn’t long at all. They’re very organized. It cost $10 to park in a gated area. I bought tickets at the box office (not online) because I wanted the ticket stub to keep as a souvenir. Probably waited maybe five minutes for a shuttle bus to pick up groups of sixteen to take us to the mansion. During the wait, a photographer takes your photo to buy for $36 plus tax. It’s worth the purchase. Makes a nice keepsake. The mansion was very nice and clean. It had that old historic home vintage charm that modern homes don’t have. You can spend as much time as you want in the mansion but once you leave a room, you can’t reenter it. You must move along to the next room. Once you exit the mansion, you can’t go back inside. You can spend as much time as you want on the Graceland Property. A shuttle bus takes you back to view the exhibits, planes, and cars. Lots of gift shops. I do think the restaurants are expensive and the staff was rude at the restaurants. I tried to place an order at Glady’s restaurant and the waiter walked off right in the middle of my order and never returned. I left and found a nice restaurant 15 miles from Graceland in West Memphis. If you love music, Elvis, vintage, history, and historic homes, then you must visit Graceland!! The decor was definitely from the 50’s-70’s era. Which I enjoyed! I disagree with the other reviews that stated the house was small and ugly. I think it’s full of history and is a flashback of multiple eras. You can feel the history! Some of the staff is rude but most were friendly and nice. Regardless, I highly recommend visiting Graceland.

Wow! What an experience. There is so much to see and do here. Take your time delving deep into the King's personal memorabilia, such as his gold records, clothing, cars, and so much more. I highly recommend it. I can scratch it off of my bucket list.
Kate Quarin — Google review
It's great, so worth it. I loved it, and my wife who wouldn't call herself an Elvis fan, loved it too. The house initially didn't feel worth it. Didn't feel like you had much time and was just taking tiny step after tiny step after the person in front of you, but it's really cool, even though they don't let you upstairs. I wasn't expecting much from the other exhibits but they were really great, especially the jumpsuit room, that one blew my mind. I also would have skipped the behind the scenes Elvis movie one, but that was awesome.
Jess Eig — Google review
Strolling through this house was an experience I absolutely loved. It's nothing short of amazing, akin to stepping through a portal directly into the past; it's a genuine 1970s time capsule, preserved to perfection. Each room, especially the media room, felt like a meticulously curated exhibit, showcasing the best of the era's design and cultural ethos. Interestingly, the house's exterior belies its spacious interior, giving the illusion of being much smaller than it really is. Although it's a disappointment that visitors are not allowed to explore the upstairs area, I fully comprehend the reasons behind it. Venturing into Elvis's personal bedroom would undoubtedly transform a place of historical and emotional significance into a mere spectacle, detracting from the respect and privacy such a space deserves. It's a decision that, while frustrating for some, underscores the importance of preserving the dignity of those who once lived there. The peace garden, located by the pool, struck a particularly poignant note. It's a serene and reflective space, dedicated to the memory of Elvis. Walking through it, surrounded by the tranquility and beauty of the garden, I couldn't help but feel a deep sense of sadness, mingled with a profound appreciation for the life and legacy of one of music's greatest icons. This visit was not just a journey through a home but a deep, emotional experience that left a lasting impression on me, providing a unique glimpse into the life of the King of Rock 'n' Roll.

The ultimate tour was great. My wife is a huge fan. Happy wife, happy life. She is SOO happy. Getting to touch and see clothes, have a crazy knowledgeable guide, and access to a special room was all with while. Surprisingly, the free meal was pretty dang good as well? Really good brisket and ribs, drink and desert....all free with the pass.

The National Civil Rights Museum tells the story of the American civil rights movement from the 16th century to present day. The museum is located in Memphis, TN, where civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated in 1968. The exhibits include photographs, short movies, storyboards, and vehicles related to the civil rights movement.
A very powerful and moving museum that I think everyone should visit in their lifetime. The museum, which is housed inside the Lorraine Hotel where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was shot and killed, covers much more than this assassination, from slavery to civil rights. The final exhibit takes you right by the hotel room where King actually stayed, and gives you a clear view of the balcony. I really can’t think of any drawbacks to this experience. The staff are professional and helpful and the museum is clean/well designed. Know that some areas and exhibits do not permit photography of any kind. Definitely go if you get the chance!

I really enjoyed my first visit. My husband and daughter who's 10 joined me. There were a few emotional moments but overall it was informative, well put together, there was a lot of information. It was not crowded because of the time stamped tickets purchased online. We were expecting a 1 and half hour visit but we were there for about 2 hours and 45mins. This was a great experience and I'm glad I came. There's also a gift shop with lots of great keepsakes and fairly priced. I took lots of photos but I won't post many of them because I don't want to ruin your experience.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the National Civil Rights Museum, and I must say, it was an extraordinary experience from start to finish. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was immersed in the rich tapestry of the civil rights movement in a way that I had never before encountered. One of the first things that struck me was the sheer size of the museum. I had anticipated a relatively small space, but I was pleasantly surprised to find myself exploring vast galleries and exhibits that seemed to stretch on endlessly. The depth and breadth of the museum's collection are truly impressive, and it quickly became apparent that a single visit would not suffice to take it all in. The museum did an exceptional job of telling the story of the civil rights movement in a way that was both informative and engaging. Each exhibit was meticulously curated, offering insight into different aspects of the struggle for equality and justice. From the Montgomery Bus Boycott to the March on Washington, every pivotal moment was brought to life through multimedia presentations, interactive displays, and thought-provoking artifacts. What impressed me most, however, was the museum's commitment to highlighting the voices and experiences of those who were at the forefront of the movement. Through powerful oral histories, personal accounts, and immersive reenactments, visitors are given a firsthand glimpse into the courage, resilience, and determination of those who fought for change. I would highly recommend allocating at least three hours to fully explore the museum, though even that may not be enough to see everything. Alternatively, multiple visits would allow for a more leisurely exploration of the exhibits, giving visitors the opportunity to delve deeper into this important chapter of history. Overall, my visit to the National Civil Rights Museum was nothing short of inspiring. It left me with a profound appreciation for the sacrifices made by those who came before us and a renewed sense of commitment to continue the ongoing struggle for equality and justice. If you find yourself in the area, I urge you to make time for a visit – you won't be disappointed.

This was my first and only emotionally intense yet educational museum experience. I left this place with a very heavy heart. A must see for everyone to learn the REAL civil rights movement in a time frame back from the slavery to 1960s. They don't and most probably won't teach you this stuff in the school... We spent an hour because the museum was going to close but I'd definitely spend more time here next time, a lot to digest.

This was the second time I have visited this museum. I have spent over three hours there and could easily spend more. Such a well done museum. Dr. King’s hotel room brought so many emotions. Also seeing all of the history that we were not taught was amazing and eye opening. A must see in Memphis!

One of the best museums I've been to. The facility is well-maintained and the staff was warm and inviting. This museum will make you sad, it make you think, make you angry, it will make you feel so many things all at once. But mostly it will make you want to add your voice to the fight for an end to inequity of all Americans and of those wishing to become part of our nation. We are better than our ignorant and unjust past. This reminder of the dark times we've weathered, and still are, should be mandatory viewing by all those in federal public office so they might be motivated to add their voices and finally shine the light of true freedom on all.

If you haven’t been I highly recommend it was an amazing experience and very well put together. I went to eat beforehand and was told in a very stern manner that I couldn’t bring my food in but this nice young gentleman by the name of Rodney or Ronald who is the security guard there saved my food for me until the end just wanted him to know he’s appreciated. I also want to say the staff was very nice and knowledgeable.

I was so honored and blessed to have this experience! The Exhibits were amazing and I experienced some emotional tearful moments. I look forward to visiting again with my son and other family members as I did this as solo activity for my layover from work. I’m so glad I chose this as my day time activity !

Very informative and interesting history museum. Personally, I think some of the exhibits could be designed a little better as I felt like some aspects/events were repetitive. I do prefer timeline exhibits as I feel that captures history in the best way, and portions of this museum tour seemed out of place due to a significant historic moment they wanted to focus on. Still recommended when visiting Memphis!

You absolutely can't miss out on this fantastic museum! My family and I had an excellent experience there, and even my 10-year-old daughter 100% engaged the whole time. Trust me, you won't regret visiting this wonderfully curated place. The employees were so friendly and knowledgeable.

This museum is a must see, and beautifully designed! Employees are very pleasant, clearly love their jobs and are extremely professional. So grateful I was able to experience this. The National Civil rights museum is something that you need a lot of time and patience to go to. This place is awesome I highly recommend it, but go early so you can take your time and read through the history. If you are ever in Memphis this is a must on your tourist list it's only $18 for adults.

To take in the full experience you need to alot a few hours. This was a really well done museum with many exhibits but it is not self guided- it is a tour and takes time to get through. Absolutely worth a stop.

DH and I enjoyed the museum. Very detailed and enlightened. Although we feel like more details regarding the KKK should’ve been added. I experienced many emotions during the tour. The heart wrenching segment for me was where the slaves were on the ship and the sounds of the cries of pain and hurt then they were hit with a whip. As well as the sound of the whip striking them. Be aware that it will take a minimum of two hours to complete, therefore, you should wear comfortable shoes and not heals like I did.

It was honor to be in that spot. They have operating hours and I was late so I couldn’t get in. But I was able to stand and go through the motel from fence area. The marble explaining the story was really impressive and you can also see the mansion opposite to the hotel from here Sir MLK was shot. Pretty dark history but they have maintained the place well. It’s moving and must visit.

I went to the museum on a Thursday at 11:45am during Black History Month. I purchased my tickets in advance online. There was no wait to get in. There were 5 busloads of kids that arrived when I did. Thankfully, the worker at the museum sent us to the next exhibit ahead of the kids so that we could enjoy the museum without trying to dodge the kids. This museum is moving. It is large. It is informative. You have to visit more than once. The gift shop is a little pricey but I was okay with it. I spent $60 on a shirt, a hat, two shot glasses and a calendar. There is plenty of free parking. I will definitely return.

Very nice museum. Site recommended 1.5 to 2 hours, we took nearly 3 to read everything and catch every video. Museum does much more than focus on Dr. King. Expect a more full overview civil rights broadly. Clean and well taken care off place. Some renovations ongoing (Same as Lorraine Motel review since it's the same place)

Quite interesting museum. They converted the Lorraine Motel where Martin Luther King was assassinated into a civil rights museum. It not only has the room he stayed in preserved but other civil rights violations and tragedies during the time. Very informative and powerful

The Memphis Zoo is one of the country's most popular zoos, with a wide variety of exhibits representing a variety of different animals. The zoo is easy to navigate, and visitors can get up close and personal with many of the animals. In addition to its well-known inhabitants like pandas, grizzly bears, and wolves, the zoo also has an extensive collection of animals from across Africa, Asia, North America, and South America.
We had so much fun! Enjoyed seeing all the beautiful animals! Spending time with each other. You definitely want to go kind of early so you can have a chance to see everything or get a membership so you can go back often to see everything at a not so rushed pace. It wasn't crowded so you got a chance to see the animals without fighting for a spot to see them.

This zoo is so fantastic. We are used to a free zoo, and this was certainly pricey. But we thought it was worth it. We got the all inclusive wristbands… and we walked with kangaroos, fed the giraffes, rode the train and rides, and splashed in the fountain. The grounds are huge (We walked 4.5 miles) —But mostly shaded. We felt it was so very clean and not crowded. 5 stars

Incredible experience! As someone who has visited multiple zoos in the past year, I would have to say this one takes the cake. Each section is crafted with care, and the animals are very interactive and friendly. It seems like they are well-treated as well. There is such a variety here that it’s fun for the whole family! Tickets are $20, but it is by far worth it for a great experience.

Love this zoo! I have never seen a zoo with the amount of birds this one has, including a walk-in aviary. The animals seem happy and well cared for. I was able to leisurely go through within the limited two hour window I had before my flight. I’d say another couple of hours would have included something to eat or if I had children with me. I have visited many zoos, and I highly recommend this one.

Had a great experience will definitely return in the future. Saw a bunch of animals that I haven't seen before at our local zoos. Everyone was so nice at gift shops and drink stations

We were in town to watch Mississippi State University play Texas Tech in the Liberty Bowl and got the chance to go to the Memphis Zoo and it was very nice! The animals were all happy and active! and certainly well taken care of! There were a lot of people but buying tickets and getting to see all the animals was very easy, because the zoo is laid out and run very well. We got to watch a polar bear dance! Panda eat and eat and eat fresh bamboo! Orangutan kid swing and jump and climb until his Mom came out and slowed him down... :) and the lights - oh my goodness did they have decorative lights everywhere! My wife, our 3 kids, our uncle Barry, and me all had a great time and I highly recommend the Memphis Zoo!

Very nice zoo, clean and well laid out. I wish some of the enclosures were larger, though. All the animals looked healthy and well cared for. The water park for kids is large and looks like a lot of fun. We walked pretty much the entire zoo in four hours, although if all the exhibits had been active we could have spent another couple of hours.

The place is overall nice. Water was dirty at majority of the exhibits. The train ride was about 3 minutes. nice but not worth the wait in line. The scenery and architecture was very good, actually better than the animals. The China exhibit was very nice as well.

The zoo is great but they need help with some of their employees. We asked for total experience tickets and they sold us general admission. They were closing early in the afternoon the day we went but google said they were open till 5:00. They person that “helped us” with the ticket issue said they don’t “own google” and can’t do anything about what they show. She apparently has zero experience with that because as a business owner I know WE control the information we supply to google about our business. She also said they had “pop ups” on the website but I was all over the zoo website for a couple of days and never saw a pop up about the hours that day. Please, people, train your employees better. The splash pad was closed. We saw one open food truck. We drove two hours to visit the Memphis zoo.

This is the 2nd time we've gone here. We loved it! From the minute you walk to the front gate, which looks like you're entering Egypt) it's a great time. Plenty of great exhibits. My son loves giraffes so it's a plus that you can actually feed them here. It is 5 dollars just so you know, but well worth it to see his smiling face.

After driving by the zoo many times it was decided that a visit was necessary. A very impressive zoo with plenty of space to walk around. Some of the exhibits were lacking animals but the one they did have were enjoyable. It was nice to not have crouds since it was a weekday and kids are in school. Only took a few hours to see the whole place. Worth a visit if your interested. Enjoy.

Zoo light! It was prettier than expected and there were many guests who came in groups of friends and families. When I had time, I also saw a magic show and it was a good experience. The taste of the snacks is so-so, but it's not bad because it helps animals. There were a lot of people, but we took a lot of pictures and had a good time.

We enjoyed the Memphis Zoo. I walked 1.5 miles and still did not see everything the zoo had to offer. My favorite exhibits were the waterfall, totem poles, murals, and replicas of Pterosaurs. The Grizzly Bears, Cheetah’s and Flamingos were my favorite species. It was a bit sad watching the animals pace back and forth. Some areas seemed small for the species but appeared well kept.
BeautifulSoul — Google review
Had a great time. They are adding a splash pad on for the kiddos to play in. All of the animals seemed in good health. The zoo staff was very helpful giving us information about the critters. Made our trip well worth it.

I had not been to the Memphis Zoo since my kids were very small and was excited to be able to bring my grandson for his first zoo trip! The zoo was very clean, the animals look well kept and the staff was very friendly and informative. The zoo has grown since the last time we were there and unfortunately we were not able to experience the whole park. But we cannot wait for our next visit. The only disappointment was the food- not all food facilities were open and what we did purchase was not very good. Everything else was great. Loved the nocturnal area and the butterflies! The giraffe feeding was a cool experience! Would definitely recommend to all ages...
Renee Moss — Google review
It feels small and older. Perhaps my zoo expectations are high as I live in an area with high ranking zoos and therefore my perception is askew The enclosures for the large animals seemed small for them. They didn't seem very happy. And I think the large cat exhibits don't have big enough barriers for current recommendations. We were very disappointed that there were parts of the zoo that we had to pay extra to visit. Butterflies and kangaroos specifically. And with everyone feeding the giraffes, there were no giraffes to just see from the other side for free. None of the children's/petting area animals were out, which was a disappointment for us The splash park is a nice feature. I can see that being very attractive with younger children. We appreciated the nocturnal building. That was well laid out and fun. The zoo is laid out nicely and we had no problems traversing it. Though there is no android app to get a digital map. Maybe just a link to an online map would be better than an app to download? It wasn't the worst zoo I've visited, but it just felt old and out dated.
Christine Roosa — Google review
It was beautiful from the very start as we were waiting in line through the end. We were greeted with "snow" which added to the majesty. Christmas lights are my favorite part of the holiday and this was exactly what this old heart needed. You have to buy tickets online. They do not sell tickets at the gate.
Dana Simpkins — Google review
Memphis Zoo was fabulous.. It's been years since I've gone to a zoo. We purchased the total experience tickets, which include the train ride, the 2 rides, the tram, and the giraffe feeding. It was so much fun. The Giraffes were beautiful. The lion talked so loud. It was fun to see and hear. The tram ride goes around the park very short, but the driver, she is awesomely entertaining . It was worth getting the upgraded tickets. The food is regular fast microwave food. We didn't like it, but we had so much fun, no one was worried about eating. Yes, we would go again. When you purchase your tickets online, you get better parking. There was no wait on the weekend in October.

Haven't been to the zoo since I was a kid! I was pleasantly surprised by the new exhibits and loved the overall kindness of the staff as well. Parking wasn't a hassle, and the tickets are inexpensive. I recommend going on Tuesdays when they're discounted (for TN residents only I believe). If you plan on being here all day with children, there's plenty of spots to sit down and sectional seating near restrooms. Vending machines throughout in case you need a drink, but in some parts of the zoo food and beverages aren't allowed. A fun and educational experience for all ages. Will be returning very soon with my nieces and nephews!

This is probably one of my favorite zoos! We visit a zoo every time we travel. This one had several animals that we had not seen anywhere else. They also have a splash pad during summer! It was very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. I am sure we will visit again.

The Memphis Zoo is genuinely one of the best zoos in the USA. They have a wide range of animals. They have interesting enclosures and interactive areas. About every hour there is a Zoo Keeper talk where they show off specific animals, like the seals or birds of prey. If you have children and live close, the membership pays for itself, and I highly recommend it. In the spring, there is a butterfly enclosure which is pretty cool.
Dakota Benjamin — Google review
Been to a few Zoos around the country and the Memphis Zoo is one of my favorite so far. I am a member so I don't have to pay for parking but keep in mind that is something that goes along with paying for admission. The animals looks very healthy, happy and on weekdays it is pretty empty letting you get some great views of the animals. I would highly recommend going here at least once if you live in the area or if you are visiting Memphis!
Cory Smith — Google review
Unfriendly staff and very highly stressed animals in undersized enclosures left me with a bad taste in my mouth. My degree is in ecology and biodiversity. I have worked at Zoo Atlanta and at the Georgia Aquarium. I have worked with captive wild animals and I know a lot about animal psychology and captive behaviors. If you know anything about animal behavior, like me, you will have a BAD time. Every mammal species (except for the Sumatran tigers) exhibited signs of distress. Big cats panting and pacing in small circles (jaguar, clouded leopard, cheetahs), one clouded leopard is balding on its tail from excessive grooming, the hippos swim in tight circles, and the elephants sway side to side without moving. All are stress behaviors. I have studied animal behavior in zoos and, while they are providing enrichment activities for most of their species, it doesn't resolve the fact that there is simply not anywhere near enough space for these animals. There are three cougars in a very small enclosure. Some of the reptiles and fish are kept in tanks or housing significantly smaller than what the ideal captive footprint should be. This zoo is an older zoo, one of the oldest in the country, and we have learned an almost immeasurable amount in regards to animal welfare since then. And despite investing over $116,000,000 on renovations and expansions, it just isn't enough. Aside from that, while I was there, there were maybe ten other guests who were determined to visit on a cold, rainy day - I came across two non-staff members. I encountered quite a few keepers and almost none of them even acknowledged my presence. I don't expect people to stop and say "hi, what's your life story" but when your staff doesn't even make eye contact with the one single guest in the entire visible area it is a bit off-putting. I felt essentially unwelcome, similar to the feeling of wandering into a restricted area and having no idea how to leave, except I was in the main exhibit areas. You also have to pay $10 to park and an additional $25 per adult for zoo entry. Nowhere on the website did I see anything mentioning paid parking. Certain exhibits cost an additional fee to enter. Honestly quite disappointing.

My older son absolute loves animals. We have to visit any Zoo possible. We have even been to Zoos like Brasov - Romania and Szeged Hungary. The Memphis Zoo is ranking probably at the top of the list right now. Everything is spotless. The entire landscape is well taken care of and very clean. No dead leaves, random branches, misplaced stands, etc. On top of everything the animals were very active and they all seem to have pretty good size cages which we always love. The entire Zoo theme is pretty cool too. Very pleasantly surprised and felt like the money was well worth it!

We visited from Missouri. We LOVE the Saint Louis Zoo (it’s free so hard to beat)! We really enjoyed this zoo! The animals are extremely close and seem to want to engage with each other and visitors. There are many different animals to see. We spent four hours here and my kids never complained of boredom. The giraffe feeding was a unique and fun experience for my children! We ended up paying $124 for our visit which is steep compared to the free visits we take in Saint Louis but it was worth it. We would come again.

Nature & Parks
A large, urban park located in the heart of Chattanooga, Shelby Farms Park offers plenty of recreational opportunities for families to enjoy. The park has over 40 miles of trails that are perfect for biking and horseback riding, as well as hiking and fishing. There is also a clean recycled playground that is popular with children of all ages.
A wonderful safe, clean park to visit. Spent about 4 hours there and will def have to go back. The visitor center has the map and info if you are new to going. Also, mostly clean restrooms. The same building has a cute giftshop as well. This building sets atop the land of Hyde Lake. Adjacent to it is Coastal Fish company, which we plan to return and visit. 1st we visited the dog park area, lots of fields and some small ponds/lakes for your dog to cool off in. Huge amount to just be able to run and play, as that area dogs can be off leash. Then we went to the Hyde park area, walked around Hyde Lake, sat on some waterside lounge chairs. They have scooter and bike rentals there (via an app). Also a boat rental, but it appeared close (think everything opens 4/23 on water rentals). Definitely plan to return to do the horseback riding, the miniature golf and ape adventure area, as well as check out some of the wooded trails. This park, if guessing, to experience everything would take a solid weekend, perhaps 2 weekends. Gorgeous views!

Very nice park with plenty of paved biking trails and dirt hiking/biking trails. Check the visitor center to take a look at the large park map. Clean restrooms and a small concession area. Lots of small lakes and you can rent kayaks, canoes and paddle boats.

Miles and miles of acreage to enjoy the great outdoors. I've been cycling and walking here and feel like I only scratched the surface of what is offered. Always something new to do when visiting! A great place to appreciate nature, be active, take the family out or even on a cute date!

First time visiting this park and it was lovely. We didn't get to see the bison roaming, but we didn't have enough time to search for them either. Kids enjoyed the play area, the open trails here are very free roaming. Pet friendly. Zip lines located here as well. I wish we had parks like this back in FL.

Beautiful, clean park. Clean, modern restrooms. Plenty of parking / ease of access. I was here for kayaks and cocktails and had a ton of fun first of all with the hour or so of kayaking tour and then with the food, drinks, and activities.

My fiancé and I did the canoe and cocktails tour with the added dinner for our anniversary. We both had a blast! Nice atmosphere, friendly workers, very inexpensive and the view was beyond gorgeous. Our only complaint was the food & beer we were served afterwards. Other than that, we had an amazing time and we’ll definitely be back to do it again!

Hyde lake is a good place to go and walk, run or cycle for exercise. There are separate paths first foot and cycle traffic but unfortunately it’s no longer marked clearly so when walking you have to pay attention to avoid cyclists and people on those damn electric scooters! Refreshing the signage would help a lot. Also, they don’t know the difference between London Bridge and Tower Bridge. The off leash dog area is an awesome feature.
Trevor Cotton — Google review
I visit a LOT of parks (producing events) and honestly this on has to be at the top of the list!! Take a long walk on one of there many trails and see for yourself! Beautiful views of the lake from every side. That’s not all there’s beautiful architecture, buildings, artwork, landscaping etc.
BradandJen McCleary — Google review
The best park I've ever been to, though I haven't been to many large parks like this. Hyde Lake is a wonderful spot to watch the sunrise/sunset. Kayaks, canoes, ziplines, rental bikes, special events, rental pavilions, seafood restaurant, souvenir shop, restrooms, grills, Tour de Wolf mountain bike path, children's play area, large sand box, swinging benches, walkable trails, dedicated no-leash dog park, Buffalo, horseback riding—lots of things to do here! There's a dedicated separate biking path around Hyde Lake, just watch out for oblivious walkers who don't know what the bike images all over the path mean. The big negative? Being located in Memphis means you will encounter some ghetto people, complete with cringe-worthy inappropriate outfits, gang clothing, loud rap music from portable speakers, and the occasional uncontrolled Pitbull. The staff does an excellent job cleaning up all their trash that they carelessly litter about. Despite several large lakes/ponds, there is nowhere to actually swim. They have an overpriced splash pad that you have to reserve by time slot, but no pool. There's also no place to change clothes for the splash pad. It is probably for the best that there is no public pool here, since the ghetto element would show up and swim in their dirty boxers, old gym shorts, and nasty socks. Enforcing appropriate swimwear would be a nightmare for staff, since the go-to response would always be to pull the race/racism card. Whether you want to enjoy the sights, view wildlife, ride horses, kayak, bike, or many other things, you just can't go wrong with Shelby Farms.
Marc — Google review
This park is beautiful and well maintained. I visited from out of town during my visit to Memphis. We enjoyed walking around the park but the attractions are expensive. The splash pad is $12 per person for a small water area. There were no other kids playing in it and we didn't pay for it either. Every attraction costs money. Some are reasonable, and others are not.
MsKrayola — Google review
I love the improvements Shelby Farms has made! It looks great. The grounds have been really well maintained, and the fact we can host huge events like what is pictured, the park architects have done an amazing job. I also love the spots around the grounds where you can do different activities like the zip line and paddle boards, fishing and the beautiful nature views. It is also really important to keep the buffalo in the city. The area they are now is great, I just hope they grow the area.

Last summer we canoed with our canoe at Hyde Lake. Saturday, September 2, we rented 2 single person kayaks. We had a blast The crew at the boat house were helpful in getting our lifejackets and launching us. The lake is beautiful and very clean. In fact the entire park is very clean. Our only issue was that there isn't clear signage for the boathouse.

A very emotional tour. The history in this place flows through every turn. As you sit behind the mixing board looking into the studio, you can begin to hear the music and see the greats recording hits through imagination. Perfect tribute to all of the musicians and the Stax studio itself. Must see!!

What can I say?! The Stax Museum is a must-see to understand the history and progression of soul music. Museum boasts many original artifacts from the Stax recording Era and includes numerous personal effects of the artists who were catapulted to stardom from this location. The gift shop has great souvenirs as well.

When visiting Memphis, this museum is a must see! If you love music and especially are into music history, this is the place to just get all of the juice so to speak. Music would not be what it is today without Stax records. The number of artists that were born and developed through this company is astounding. I was born in 1968 so I can appreciate each and every song ever made because of the composers, musicians, singers and engineers that came from here. This museum is full of nostalgia. There are actual costumes, instruments, awards etc located here. This place is a gem. The movie in the beginning sets the tone for what is to come in the rest of this museum. It really was a good time. I loved it.

It’s a museum that tries to give the feeling of the old Stax studios were soul music started. It shows how especially African American music started from gospel and through the years evolved into soul rock and disco. Very interesting displays. They did a good job creating the museum from the old studio.

On a sightseeing trip in Memphis, one of our stops was at Stax Museum. I was like walking back in time and seeing some of the greatest soulful singers that ever lived. You can buy music on CDs and records. They have good deals on their souvenirs.

Stax museum is very much a traditional "lots of boards to read with some exhibits" type. As such, it's quite dry even if interesting with an important story to tell. It's more akin to an extended, slightly disjointed, Wikipedia article with exhibits. It might be better served with a clear timeline followed as you walk through. It really is worth a visit, however, and we also were treated to a free performance by a funk and soul brass band, Lucky 7, which was amazing!

Loved it! Don't skip the intro movie - it's fascinating and gives you insight to the exhibits. The museum is arranged to follow the development of the music. I couldn't stop moving while reading the displays, because of all the music that envelops you. Only negative was when a group of school kids came in. They ran around and would bump into you. Also, even though the signage indicated masks were required, none of the kids and some adults weren't wearing them.

Absolutely amazing place!! We had our family reunion dinner here. It was a private affair. Beautifully restored pictures and paintings of artists with their biographies hanging on the walls. These musicians changed history by using their platforms to help shape social justice. Artists such as Sam Cooke, Issac Hayes, Tina Turner and Ben E King just to name a few. Great place to host private events. There are security guards outside and inside were kind and polite. Bathrooms are clean and well kept. The parking lot is in the back of the building.

Great experience. This was my first visit. It was amazing to see and hear some of the artists of my era. Listening and viewing singers that I loved in the 70's 80's and 90's when music was enjoyable, respectful, and pleasing to your ear. It was if I was walking down memory lane. The ladies group I was with, also enjoyed themselves by singing, dancing, laughing and reminiscing about the good old days when we were young and popping to the music. Some remembered seeing Issac Hayes ride around Memphis in his Cadillac trimmed in gold. It is on display there. There are many exciting things to see so I say, if you have not been there, go. You are welcomed by a nice group of people who work there and they invite you to watch a documentary about Stax in early years. You can take pictures as you please in the museum. Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken is a Memphis chicken restaurant that specializes in fried chicken and sides. The chicken is extremely crispy and moist, with a slightly spicy flavor. The restaurant has classic Southern table setting, checkered cloths, neon beer signs and well-loved by Memphians and visitors from all around the world.
An Urban Classic !!! Gus's Chicken is iconic food. If you are ever in Memphis you should take the time to enjoy this famous brand of Fried Chicken. I make it a point to stop in at Gus's whenever I'm in Memphis for at least one meal. Gus's now has locations all over the USA, so there is no excuse for a fan of fried chicken not to stop in and try it at least once. On this fine fine sunny day in late June 2022. I drove into Downtown Memphis after visiting a customer in the area. I was seated right away and served almost immediately. The chicken was like always crispy, with a little spice and juicy and tender inside. The menu is not overly complicated, and selections are limited. The menu is centered around the Gus's experience, Fried Chicken with sides. Simple, wonderful and tasty. If you are ever in a town or city with a Gus's Fried Chicken, give them a shot you won't be disappointed !!!

I was expecting the best fried chicken ever. While it was indeed good, excellent crunch it was lacking a bit in flavor for me. The best thing I ate was the fried green tomato. I will say the service we were offered was VERY good. I wish I remembered our servers name but great service.

As soon as I saw the sign, I new we had to try Gus’s. We stopped in after we got back from the Zoo. It was literally 1/2 block from our Airbnb. The atmosphere was really cool, service excellent and the chicken was awesome. Our server Travisha was super friendly and helpful with the menu. My wife loved the fried pickle spears and I loved the pecan pie!

This place is awesome. The chicken is fresh never frozen and that makes a huge difference in taste. The chicken is a touch on the spicy spectrum but very good. The baked beans were super, as was the Mac and cheese and greens. Chicken was good sized pieces and juicy inside cooked perfectly.
James M — Google review
We waited about an hour to get a seat and it was well worth the wait. The chicken was crispy, hot, fresh, juicy, and flavorful. It had just enough kick to it. The mac n cheese and beans were also delicious. Our service was quick and friendly. Gus's is a must-try. I'd definitely make a trip back here.

I was slightly disappointed by the fried chicken. The spices were really good. This isn’t Nashville hot chicken. The spice blend add flavor but isn’t hot. But, I have had more flavorful and moist fried chicken elsewhere. If you are visiting town, give it a go. It’s a famous restaurant and worth a shot. The atmosphere is great. The service is speedy.

Gavin was a doll but he doesn't listen well at all. We ordered a 2 piece he bought a 3 piece, never allow yourself to ignore a customer request. Never order the sweet tea if you like your tea sweet. The fried green tomatoes were delicious but that honey mustard sauce was so watery. Parking is crazy at this location and so is traffic so please be mindful if coming here to dine. Over all try this place just make sure you double check your order if you on a buffet.

Just can't beat it! The chicken is perfectly crispy and spicy. Their ranch, honey mustard and fried foods are all good. The sides are pretty standard but you're there for the chicken anyways. I like that they've opened up paid parking in the lot next door. Sometimes crowded, but they get people in and out quickly. Prices are very fair. Good service, friendly people, love the vibes. Highly recommend.

Great food and amazing atmosphere. The spice kick in every bite is yummy. Slaw, fried Okra and potato salad a must. Shout out to Mr Sincere for his hospitality and the post vibe lady by the cashier.

One of the few "destination" restaurants that actually lives up to the hype. If this isn't the best fried chicken you've ever had, it'll at least rank in the top 5. The chicken is crispy, juicy and flavorful with a nice, satisfying kick at the end..The Mac and Cheese is baked and was very good as well. If you come here during the lunch or dinner rush, expect to wait a bit for a table and for your food. There will also be a clutch of takeout customers parading in and out. But, really, the food is worth the wait and the crowd.

I can see what all the fuss is. The chicken was very tender and juicy. My breading was a touch over cooked but still amazing. The wings were a little tiny, but they gave me two to make up for it. The sides were ok. But they did not outshine the chicken. Be prepared to wait; not only for a table, but after you order, the wait was almost as LL f to get my food. I guess I could have ordered an appetizer!
Jim Peterson — Google review
Chicken was impeccable as the star🌟 of a show should always be and seasoned to perfection! The chicken was hot and juicy. It was definitely worth the wait and trip. The baked beans did not disappoint either. 😋 As for the mac & cheese, it was lackluster. If you like cafeteria style mac & cheese with a somewhat thick cheese sauce, you won't be disappointed. The dessert, on the other hand, was delicious. Be sure sure to get a slice of sweet potato pie! You can have it served at room temperature or warmed up. I opted for warmed up! I do wish the crust was a little thicker, though. The wings have to be favorite thing on the menu as just about everyone ordered them! Service was good and food came in a timely fashion! You can see the cooks constantly dropping chicken (in the grease) for orders every minute. If staying downtown, you can easily get there via trolley or bus and walk 1 block.

Wonderful! I stop in every time I visit Memphis! Get here right as they open or a little before to avoid a wait! My husband and I both ordered the 2 breast, 1 wing meal that comes with two sides. You’re able to substitute at no extra charge. Our waitress was incredibly today..good communication, fast service, and checked in on us! Food was delicious & served hot! Highly recommend!

I had never heard of Gus’s before visiting Memphis! So I had no idea how big of a name it had. I am very glad I had the opportunity to experience Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken and the fried okra I had along with it. I really enjoyed the meal. The chicken was very tasty and I wish I had gotten more than two pieces. The wait staff were all very friendly and one of the ladies even gave my family a compliment. It was quite crowded but we were able to get our food in a timely manner!

It was good, didn't feel worth the hype and all the recommendations. Everyone was nice. Favorite part was the spice level, spot on. Some parts were crispy and some weren't and the dark meat didn't seem too moist. We had to get it to go because a group of 44 checked in before us. Didn't impact my opinion, but they did neglect to give us something we ordered and paid for, but since we had to take it to go we didnt notice until too late.

Gotta stop in for the BEST fried chicken every time I’m in Memphis. LOVE the fried pickles and pecan pie too. It’s a bit obscure if you’re looking for it for the first time, but we’ll worth it. Just a short walk from Beale Street it’s a great place to have dinner and a PBR before seeing a game or a live show. They even have a good ol’ jukebox and some neat things on the walls. Only actual thing that could use some improvement would be the restrooms.

Don’t pass up the fried chicken, it’s as good as advertised, and so is the coleslaw and baked beans. A *great* big thank you to our server Whitney, she is the best. Thanks for making sure I didn’t live my life without ever eating fried green tomatoes, Whitney!
Sharon Kugler — Google review
Went while on a road trip in Memphis. The server Whitney was fantastic! The chicken was average. No spice, no seasoning, just breaded chicken. Have had better from my neighborhood grocery store. Expected famous. Received mediocre….it was fine…very disappointed and not worth any hype

The lady who worked the counter upon first entering was most welcoming! Once seated Travisa was so nice! My daughter tried me chicken fingers and okra. I got the three piece wing plate with greens on the side! The slaw was so good, I also ate my daughter’s off her plate! The greens were exceptional and the beans were very tasty. Although, the chicken states it’s hot and spicy, I added lots of Louisiana Hot sauce to it. Overall friendly atmosphere. The food is worth going!

New American restaurant
Restaurant
The Beauty Shop is a hip and trendy New American eatery that features vintage hair-dryer chairs and glass-brick booths. The restaurant boasts an atmosphere reminiscent of a ‘50s-style beauty shop, with copper and silver leaf walls, hand blown art glass lights, and lush vintage hooded Belvedere hair-dryer chairs.
Wow what a treat this was! First of all I was very impressed with being seated at our exact reservation time. The atmosphere was cool and the server was excellent. We had the Watermelon and Wings and I do believe it’s one of the best wings in Memphis. My wife even enjoyed them and she is not a fan of wings. She had the Bangkok salad and I had the Lucky Pot. Her salad was great but the Lucky Pot was amazing! The mixture of flavors was incredible with all the dishes we had here. I would come back just for the wings alone. So glad we tried this place and look forward to returning. I’d recommend this spot to anyone!

My wife and I decided to skip the BBQ on our next trip to Memphis and picked here- what a GREAT choice! Fantastic lunch menu with great prices and portions. The BLFGTA was both of our favorites. The truffle fries were great to share. We would love to return for their brunch menu.

The food and ambiance was great. I ordered the monkey bread for an appetizer. The bread was good but not great. However, the lamb chops for dinner were top notch. The service was excellent with a very friendly wait staff. The theme is very unique. This is must stop in Memphis

The aesthetics of this place is so nice. Love the beauty shop vibe! The hostess was absolutely amazing and makes you feel welcomed. Our waitress was very busy so she wasn’t as attentive as we needed her to be. We waited a while to pay. We only got appetizers because we really wanted breakfast food. The onion rings were the best I’ve ever tasted! I give those a 10/10!! The potstickers were pretty good also. My drink was perfect!!! I will definitely be back just to try a few more drinks and the brunch. Parking was perfect because we went during the week before the lunch time rush.

A bit loud on a Friday night. The monkey bread was great. The dishes had a definite lemongrass forward taste (mushrooms, pork chop). Wait staff friendly and attentive. Cool history to the building. Good local beer list. Nice night out here.

Loved it. The food was delicious. Presentation was spot on. The atmosphere was lively without feeling rushed. It's one of those places you are delighted to discover is better than the hype around it. The sweet chili sauce on the chicken waffles tasted familiar. The sausage gravy however, was better than granny's. Pretty sure they used butter for the roux and creamy milk with just the right balance of sausage to gravy. The pancakes were light and fluffy. The eggs Florentine Benedict also a big hit. All in all, we loved it and would visit again and again.

Love this place. Such a different vibe from other restaurants. Nothing is ordinary on the menu, so you just have to pick something and try it! Make a reservation before going, this place is crowded! Went for brunch and can't wait to try it out again!
Erica Hurd — Google review
The Beauty Shop is a very aesthetic choice for brunch. Vibes and service are great. The food, however, has never lived up to the hype for me. Some of the more creative takes on classic dishes don’t really work, and portions are smaller for the price. This visit featured unexpectedly sugary sweet carnitas. But if you’re looking for eclectic food options in a cute space, then this is it.

One of the best local spots to visit any time of day! Food is always fresh and we love that the specials change often. You cannot go wrong with anything you choose. The servers are also friendly and attentive.

What a fun place. The original beauty parlor design, the fun people working there, the food, the drinks. The Fried Chicken Sammy was incredible. Note- it was on a biscuit which was different. Chilechiles apparently were delicious as well, so we’re the drinks. We had a fantastic brunch here on a Saturday morning. If I’d live here, I would make this a regular place to visit.

Came here with my family and had a wonderful dinner. Had the mushrooms small plate as an appetizer and it was delicious and interesting. Many of the small plates here are actually large enough to have as a dinner or lunch. This restaurant is built into what used to be a 1950s beauty shop, and many of the tables have a 1950s style sit-down hair dryer as a chair. All of the small plates that we had were delicious and had an interesting twist of some kind. We unfortunately have a change of servers in the middle of our meal, and this did disturb the service somewhat but otherwise service was great

The Galentine’s Dinner menu was quite exquisite. My 16 friends had a wonderful time and there was enough diversity to suit our vegan friends and those seeking other options. The servers were very attentive by anticipating our needs. The food was very flavorful and each bite was delicious.

This historic place is great. I liked Vanessa, our waitress who was really nice, friendly and professional. The food was good, I liked the steak and everything else. I would not recommend the lucky pot if you are Asian and you are expecting an Asian dish/soup/pho. It’s not it. The dessert was good!

The Beauty Shop is such a beautiful homage to Priscilla Presley's beauty salon. The decor is eclectic, unique, and transports you back in time. The brick glass-separated booths with the salon chairs in place bring light to the restaurant theme. We had the Truffle/Parmesan fries as an appetizer, the Apple Salad with Shrimp, the Turkey Club, and the Thai Cobb salad. We were impressed with all of these options. The only negative during our time at The Beauty Shop was looking up from our booth to a dust-filled chandelier; it could use a good cleaning.

Stopped here for brunch as the last thing we did in Memphis, and it was awesome. Had the pork and peach Benedict, it was perfect. The pork was caramelized just right and the peach gave it extra sweetness, A+. The desert of chocolate merengue was good but not great. Every local we mentioned that we were doing brunch here were excited for us. Known I understand why.

Creole restaurant
Restaurant Iris is a Creole-French restaurant in an elegant renovated bungalow with several cozy dining spaces. Chef Kelly English, who has Southern roots, cooks with local and Cajun flair using fresh and sometimes unusual ingredients. You'll be comfortable here in dressy or jeans, as long as you're ready to enjoy some delicious Creole-French fare.
My experience at Restaurant Iris was definitely one to remember! The food was amazing! So flavorful and well prepared! The service was impeccable with multiple people checking on us and food/drinks coming out in a timely manner! I was also in awe of the design of this restaurant! The colors, table settings, and furniture seemed to be well thought out and added to the fine dining experience! There is a skylight in the dining area that creates this beautiful natural lighting, not letting you miss a moment of the sunset! I will definitely be back again for the food and ambiance! My only critique would be for the braised collard greens. They came with pickled peaches, and I could taste the peaches. They made the greens sweet too and I don't personally care for sweet greens. Even with that it was a great experience, and I recommend it!

I wanted so much to like this restaurant. I love the intention of small plates. But nothing green is on the menu. So the food is a bit heavy. The only vegetable is roasted potatoes, which were delicious, and then a wee bit of Brussels sprouts buried in a dish covered with sauce. So. Good for an appetizer and drinks.

I'm not from here and came on the recommendation of a co-worker. There were so many dimensions to the dining experience that I'll try to do justice to. The service was phenomenal. Our waitress was highly knowledgeable about wine pairings with the various meals, provided detailed and helpful descriptions of the food, made excellent suggestions, and was highly attentive throughout the evening. Based on her suggestions, our group decided to sample a wide variety of appetizers and meals that we shared. This will sound unlikely, but everything was extraordinary. The duck confit (pictured) was mind blowing. The desserts were equally incredible. Iris provided a dining experience, IMHO, that will count among the most memorable of my life. The chairs were also very comfortable and the atmosphere cozy and quaint. The artwork was tasteful and fit the color scheme & restaurant motif. In any case, iIts been at least 5 month since my business trip and I had to finally take the time to write a review. Cheers to the Chef & staff. If ever I'm back in Memphis, as Arnold says, I'll be back...

We celebrated our wedding anniversary and the food and service were great. They did not have the raw bar available during our visit but the Crab Au Gratin was amazing. Both the Steak Iris and Grilled Beef Tenderloin were cooked perfectly. This is definitely on our list of places to go and definitely recommend.

First time in a while, amazing. Crawfish gnocchi for an appetizer with sweet corn, so delicious. I had the redfish amandine, which came with a stewed okra side, marvelous. My wife had the duck, which was also fantastic. Paired with a great Pinot noir that our server suggested. Perfect date night.

Lighting perfect- darker at Bar, brighter at tables. I sat at the bar and for the first time ever- it was comfortable and spacious(nice granite). I ordered 2 appetizers, salad, tenderloin with mash, and 2 desserts. There were no disappointments. The Laurelwood salad- should be for two, the crab au gratin- perfectly cook (not too dry or wet). Boudin Balls (3) with a great creamy sauce- great. Wine selection phenomenal. Desserts perfect size and heavenly. SINCE they want to play with the big boys I will say- med rare was closer to rare for me- it was a warm center but couple degrees on the sous vide would of been perfect. Service was best in Memphis I’ve experienced. Worth every penny.

Excellent dining experience. I recently revisited Iris for a friend’s birthday lunch after a recommendation to give it another go. Chef Kelly English was present and the culinary Renaissance was literally palpable. We ordered the fried green tomatoes and the crawfish sauce was rich and wonderful. The East Texas Tender Salad was a real surprise and truly unforgettable as I have since thought about this just-hot-enough delightful salad multiple times since. And the short-rib beef stroganoff was a deliciously elevated take. The cocktails were delectable and well executed. I had the Cat In The Rain; It was beautiful, sweet, and exactly what I wanted. My friend had the O-Ren Ishii, a sake cocktail, which she enjoyed as well. If it has been a while or if you haven’t been since the first reopening I’d say for sure go again. I certainly will.

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here and it was absolutely perfect. Everything was delicious, wonderful service, and a nice atmosphere. The newly designed space features excellent noise dampening so you can actually hear conversation at your own dinner table - I wish more restaurants were like that! I had the flounder and it was out of this world. Perfect texture, melt in your mouth, absolutely stunning. Drinks were amazing too. For a special occasion I can’t recommend this place enough!

Loved the classy vibe in here! Everything we ordered was delicious. We started with the scallops which did not disappoint. I ordered the duck leg and he ordered the pork tenderloin. We had brussel sprouts on the side. Everything was cooked perfectly. My duck leg paired perfectly with the tart peaches and greens. The brussel sprouts were delicious, but I wouldn't recommend getting them along side what I had since they have a balsamic based dressing on them (too much acid). We wanted dessert but didn't have the room for it. Hope to come back some day!

One of the top dining spots in Memphis! Let's start by saying call and request Constance with your reservation, she's the literal best in town hands down. We started with a rum punch bowl, a great centerpiece! All of the food was top notch. We had a table of 6 so ordered a spread of salads, sides and desserts. The salads were divine, the sides spot on and the chocolate dessert was our favorite. The 20 year port was one of the best I've had. All of the meals received rave reviews - the pork cheeks were the surprise favorite. All in all just a killer experience. Highly recommend!

Giving it 5 stars because that’s what it deserves! My friends and I came for dinner a couple of weeks ago and I can honestly say we didn’t have any complaints, no suggestions, no “they should do this”…nothing! (And this is a group of food bloggers so that should tell you something lol) The service from the bar and the table seating was great. My food was awesome! We all tried different this so what was fun. Everything was reasonably priced so it’s an easy spot to come back to. Did I mention the decor is beautiful?!

The Four Way is a soul food restaurant with Southern classics that has been in life for forever. The food is amazing and the atmosphere is great. It's an historic place where civil rights leaders, celebrities, and locals have gathered for decades.
10 out of 10 would recommend! Service was great & the food was amazing - THE best Mac & cheese I’ve had in years!! Parking is easy & the building is super accessible. Definitely will be adding this to my favorite soul food places in Memphis!

The food was delicious. Positively delicious. Fried catfish spot on. Greens perfect. Black eyed peas with okra - yum. My friend enjoyed perfectly cooked fried chicken and Mac + cheese. All delicious. We piled on an order of pickled beets too. We arrived just after the neighboring church service concluded on a Sunday, so the wait was about 45 minutes but it was worth the wait. Having eaten a lot of Southern food and soul food in my many lifetime visits to central AR and west TN - I can say that this was a top notch representation of those food genres. We ate every last bite.

Tl;dr- food and service were great; greens were meh So delicious! The greens weren't as good as the rest of my meal, but I will definitely be back to try other sides. The fish was hot and crispy and the cornbread was soft and slightly sweet. Prices were reasonable as well as the service. Food came out quickly and I was checked on regularly during my meal. I appreciated that the VIP wasn't overly sweetened. Too bad they don't ship to other states. I'll miss it when I head home.

If there is any place that deserves 6 stars this is the place. They must have reached up into Heaven and kidnapped God himself and put him to work in the kitchen. Every mouthful is exploding with flavor. My life is now ruined because nothing I eat again will ever reach the absolute perfection that they attain here on a daily basis. Our first stop in Memphis (with our luggage in tow) was The Four Way for soul food. I would argue this should be everyone’s first stop as this was some of the best catfish I’ve ever tasted. Josh and I both said we’ll come back from Atlanta just for that fish. We tried both the baked and fried - fried hands down is the way to go but the baked was absolutely delicious too. Steak house
Folk's Folly Prime Steak House is a highly acclaimed Memphis steakhouse, serving up succulent steak paired with side dishes that are simply out of this world. The restaurant has its own butcher shop, ensuring that all of their meat is of the highest quality. From the filet to the duck breast and crab legs, there is something for everyone on the Folk's Folly Prime Steak House menu.
My experience was nothing short of spectacular. The bartender prepared my cocktail perfectly. The waitress was very knowledgeable of the menu and her suggestions were appropriate for my palate. My steak was delicious. The sides are big enough to share among several guests. The key lime pie topped off my meal. Reservations are definitely needed unless you don't mind being at the bar. You should add Folk's Folly on your go to list. They will not disappoint.

Dear Folks Folly, You guys used to be absolutely amazing. The service used to be top notch with outstanding food to match. What happened? The lobster stuffed with crab used to be melt in your mouth goodness, now it taste like straight salt water and dirt. For $180 for surf and turf for one I expected a better meal. Let's move to the $110 dry aged strip that honestly tasted like someone forgot to trim it before serving (rotten taste). We came here tonight to have a fantastic meal and were quite let down by it all. Please refer back to the standards yall used to have. The jalapeño Mac was still taste at least and the bartender was very good at making drinks. But please do better. For a meal that was almost $500 with tip I do expect a bit more. Rose was a peach!

I'm quite the steak lover. I've had many times over the years cooked by a variety of people and places. I've lived in Memphis my entire life and had never visited Folk's Folly. Decided to take my fiancée there for a birthday gift, thought I'd try a steak. It was unremarkable. It wasn't bad, it didn't blow my socks off either, fairly bland, the cook on the steak was nailed perfectly as requested though. I have had better at home with family and friends when it comes to taste however. That being said, with the food being fairly run of the mill, the atmosphere is great there. Our waiter was fantastic. Kept everything topped off and checked on us often. It was still an enjoyable time. Would I go back just for the steak? No, but I still say give it a shot if you want some decent atmosphere for a night out.

Had a nice dinner experience. Place is larger inside than it looks from the outside, but it’s not exactly roomy. Hallways and dining areas can be a bit tight and it’s easy to take a wrong turn. Lamb chops came out perfect. They were a nice medium rare and were accompanied by some mint jelly. Not the best I’ve had, but still very good. Opted not to get any sides since I indulged in appetizers, but I did try my partner’s garlic potato casserole and it was pretty good. Dessert was just average.

This was our first time here as we are fairly new to the Memphis area. We were guests of my brother who spoke highly of this restaurant. First of all we used the valet parking and there were no issues with that service. The young man was very nice and efficient. The atmosphere inside is nice, subdued lighting, classic furnishings. We were greeted right away and taken to our table. Then, honestly, we had a bit of a wait. My brother flagged someone down to take our drink order. We all ordered dirty Martinis and they were delicious. We ordered fried pickles for an appetizer and they were very good. We then placed our dinner order. And waited. A very long time. Approximately an hour. The restaurant was very busy this night and our service was good so I guess the wait was OK but still. When our food arrived we were all very happy with our food. One of us ordered a ribeye, one ordered the Makers Mark Medallions and I ordered Fillet of Sole and king crab florentine. It was very good. We ordered asparagus and au gratin potatoes to share. The potatoes were very good. Our servers name was Jonathan and he was delightful. He checked in often but wasn't intrusive and made sure we had everything we needed. Overall it was a very nice experience and this restaurant obviously tries hard to give you a good experience and serve great food. I highly recommend if you are looking for a fine dining experience in Memphis. The wait was truly the only reason I didn't give 5 stars.

First time here and loved it! The KC strip was sizzling as it arrived to the table. The sides we had were jalapeño Mac & cheese, steamed broccoli and spinach casserole which were perfect sides! Will definitely be returning.

While the steak is thick, it's perfectly cooked to medium-rare. Though the salt seasoning leans a bit strong, it's still quite enjoyable. The meat is exceptionally tender, making it effortless to cut with a knife, and the flavor is undeniably outstanding. The restaurant exudes an elegant atmosphere, casting a warm and cozy ambiance with its lighting. Moreover, the service is truly excellent.

As a fellow restaurant professional, I appreciate great service and delicious food; this restaurant hit all the marks. The food was delicious. The service was prompt, friendly, engaging and sincere. I cannot overstate how well they executed. Worth every penny. Great job!!

We were told this was the best place to eat in Memphis. The food did not disappoint! Curt was one of the best servers I have ever had. He had worked there for 10 years and knew everything about the menu and the restaurant. The wagyu NY York steak was one of the best I have ever had. The plate came to the table sizzling and you could cut it with your fork. All of the sides we got were delicious you really can't go wrong with any of them.

One word, SUPERB! Ms. Shunna and Erick were always waiters. It was my bday and I felt very special. Ms. Shunna made sure our food was on point. She had excellent suggestions, is very friendly, and very professional. Erick made sure our glasses runneth over😁

Very nice place with great service. My main dishes were phenomenal and I enjoyed every bite. Every side I ordered was an oily cheesy mess. Save your money and skip the sides but definitely get yourself a filet mignon.

This was our first time. The crab cake appetizer was amazing but it was only 2 for $22. Neither one of our steaks were cooked correctly. I ordered mine medium and my husband ordered his medium rare. We should have sent them back but they were still good and not tough. They do have very good cuts of meat. All of the sides were just “good.” Nothing was phenomenal including the cocktails. For a $300 check I expected so much more.

We visit here on Birthdays and on anniversaries, and sometimes special occasions when we can afford it. The food has always been phenomenal. I’ve never had a steak that was better, but this time we were there the service at the table was not good. The food was excellent when it arrived. The server was cordial, but not on time, and that was evident for a few of the tables around. Other than that the food was good we typically have a dessert, but we waited so long for everything else, including our tab that we just paid and left.

Folk’s Folly has an interesting backstory. This restaurant offers a swankified bar, private rooms, and both darker and light dining rooms. It is somewhat like a remodeled house. The food is delicious, but the crab legs were lukewarm. Get the truffle butter. The desserts were not fantastic, but will do the trick, if you want a sweet ending to your meal.

I had heard so many positive things about Folks Folly that I finally decided I needed to make the 35 minute drive to what it was all about. From being greeted to being served and the food I would definitely give it a 9.5 out of 10. And the only reason for not giving a 10 is that when I order a drink such as Manhattan or Old Fashioned, etc., I prefer it not to be watered down by lots of smaller cubes but rather prefer the single large ice cube. I did enjoy everything else! The ambience was quaint and relaxing. The server, Corinne was perfect, attentive, friendly and knows the menu. I think because she has worked here for 25 years she realizes what someone would really enjoying having just by their questions about the menu (if they are not sure). So you can trust her to guide you if you have questions about ordering. I am a big bread and butter person and the warm sourdough bread they bring out is the best. Butter is already on the table so it's soft and easy to spread. I ordered the petite filet medium rare and my husband the ribeye, medium. Both cooked to perfection. Sides are family size serving, so great for sharing so you can have a few more options! There are several dessert options to choose from, my husband had the creme brulee and I had the vanilla carmel tasting that came complimentary with my dinner because it was my birthday. The restaurant staff works very well together, checking periodically to ensure all is going well. I will be back!!

This was my second time back to this restaurant. The first time was so amazing I had to bring my wife. It was a very bad experience due to the food quality. After dropping $350 for the two of us with poorly cooked steaks that lacked flavor and plate presentation, I can say I don't think we will be back. We received no apology for the overcooked steaks. When they brought back replacements, they were poorly seasoned and raw. Even the desert failed to bail the meal out as we were presented with cold creme bruelee and a cold cheesecake. Not a great experience at all.

Definitely get the dried age ribeyes! It is amazing. It packed with so much flavor! Don’t forget to top it off with your adult milkshake. I am not a fan of green tomatoes.
