Barbecue restaurant
Big D's BBQ is a casual, family-operated eatery that specializes in traditional barbecue cuisine. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Recently, there have been mixed reviews about their online ordering system. Some customers were dissatisfied with the experience they had when placing an order in the morning. Despite requesting a 9am pickup time, they ended up waiting for 20 minutes upon arrival while observing others receiving their meals promptly.
*update: next time I ordered everything was ready on time and tasty!* I was disappointed in the online ordering experience I had this morning. I put in an order at 8am for 2 breakfast items for 9am pickup. I arrived promptly at 9 and waited 20 minutes for my order. In the meantime I watched many people order and receive their meals. I was hoping to minimize my time in the restaurant by doing an online order. It appeared as though they waited until I arrived to even begin my order. The food was not up to par with breakfast I have eaten there in the past. Particularly, my pancake was totally burnt on the bottom and didn't taste good. I hope to see an improvement next time I make an online order.

Got 3 meat plate: Ribs were AMAZING. Great flavor, good smoke, fell off the bone, but not mush. Chopped Brisket: Pretty good. Nice mix of lean and moist. Pulled Pork: Quite possibly the most dry pulled pork I've ever had. It could have been overcooked shredded turkey or chicken for that matter. Wasn't really even edible, even with sauce. Sides were pretty good. Not amazing but they had a good taste.

I love their breakfast. BBQ and sauces are delicious. They have generous portions and the people are always kind. I haven’t tried one thing that I don’t like here. Highly recommend.
Taylor Lonholm — Google review
Great portions and good sauces. The only complaint was that the chicken was a little dry, but I would definitely eat here again.
Susanne Schuler — Google review
Normally love getting food from here, we always come here when family is in town as well, bragging about the ribs. However had a pretty disappointing experience tonight… Ribs seemed different than normal, more fatty, the dry rub seemed nonexistent(didn’t look like that black asphalt color like normal) smoke ring was essentially completely missing (wondering if the ribs were even smoked) The vinegar based sauce was extra watery and lacked any flavor like normal. Is this the new normal before I drop $60 on dinner again. Prices seemed to have gone up but food quality has gone down

Please don’t waste your money at this place! $16.00 for COLD & crumbly biscuits…bacon, egg & cheese/sausage, egg & cheese. 2 medium cokes. At least the cokes were drinkable, but last time this place gets my business!!! Poor Service

I got 1 meal for myself a pulled pork sandwich and 2 trimming Mac and cheese and potato salad and a drink it was $22 dollars food was good service was fast but they have nearly doubled there prices and that's why I give 3 stars honestly probably last time I'm coming here

After our hike, we were craving some non fast food kind of food. We came across this restaurant. The first location was near the main street round about, but it was closed due to staffing. After looking, we found this location off the hwy. I called ahead to make sure they were open. The lines were short, and the menu looked great. My husband wanted bones, but they were out, and cooking time left was not worth the wait. He settled on wings, and I got the brisket sandwich. The fries and food came out with no indication of heat. I guess things are just sitting in the kitchen. The food, however, was good. I just wasn't expecting a meal that seemed like it was sitting before being served. Between our order and getting the food was approximately 15mins. It's a good stop. Just make sure you ask for fresh fries and heated buns if that's a thing there😜

Quick lunch, had the pulled pork and brisket, it was awesome. Side of fires and BBQ beans!

Tried the breakfast Sausage biscuits and gravy. Sausage was just a patty on the side. Gravy tasted like it was out of a jar. First time for a very long time I just left food as it was not good. Would not recommend or eat here again.

Delicious meat, thick and flavorful. I liked the chicken especially and my dad was stoked on the brisket. We appreciated that the vinegar sauce wasn’t all sugary. Generous portions and kind staff. Unsweet tea with a splash of sweet was perfect. Highly recommend. Will return :) thanks kindly.

We came in for bbq after our family went hiking at Amicolola Falls. The restaurant was busy, but we or ordered food quickly and got our food within 10 minutes. The staff was all super friendly. We enjoyed the ribs, pulled pork, brisket, greens, and fried okra. It was all cooked perfectly, smoky, and delicious. The spicy ranch and other BBQ sauces were amazing as well. Highly recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My buddies and I went hiking over the weekend, and we stumbled upon Big D's. It doesn't look like much; a hole in the wall next to a gas station, but boy was this food delicious. I got the brisket platter with mac&cheese and the house fries. Let's just say the food was so good that it put me to sleep (quite literally). If you want some delicious food after hiking blood mountain, I think there is only one reasonable place to eat and its Big D's.

Restaurant
The Blue Bicycle A Bistro in Dawsonville is a top-notch establishment that offers delectable American cuisine and local craft beers in a comfortable and modern setting. Known for its exceptional food and service, this restaurant constantly updates its menu to provide both new and beloved dishes to its patrons. Fans of French fare will be delighted by the flavors offered here.
This was my first visit and I brought a client here for lunch. What great find! The food was better than some of the fine dining places in Atlanta. Very quiet pleasant atmosphere too. The mushroom appetizer was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend.
Patrick Thomas — Google review
I had a very excellent southern burger with pimento cheese, fried green tomato and a homemade bun. The Cesar salad I had to start was very fresh. Even the fries were really crisp. I wish I had room to try some of the desserts.
Jennifer Nicholas — Google review
Surprised and delighted. The understated exterior location gives way to a cozy casual fine dining date night atmosphere. Service was pleased to be there and to serve (rare) and the food was good, cooked right, with fresh ingredients. The Gnocchi with Mushroom appetizer was perfect. Good salads (Beet and Goat Chevre), and the Sable-Fish special was done right. Highly recommended for a date night, small business or small adult family gathering.
Doug McNutt — Google review
This is our favorite restaurant in Dawsonville! We came in for the Cuban sandwich, but they don’t serve it on Friday or Saturday. However, to my amazement (spending most of my adult life in Seattle) they had Copper River Salmon on the menu! As luck would have it, they were out. This is a risk when visiting a popular restaurant. I went with the roasted pork and it was “melt in your mouth good!” I highly recommend this place for an amazing meal and great service. Ask for Julia, she did a great job!
Ernie Adams — Google review
The portions are razonable but if you are hungry, you must to eat appetizers before that main plate and don’t forget the desserts and the hibiscus martini 🍸🍸

A hidden gem in Dawsonville, The Blue Bicycle - a bistro was delicious. The menu is accessed via a QR code on your phone as well as on a tablet that they provide. We originally stopped for lunch because they offered duck on the menu and my husband loves duck. He was very pleased with his meal. I had the curry chicken salad sandwich with french fries. I would have liked more curry in my salad but that's just my personal preference. The desserts were wonderful. I had an orange brandy creme brule (more orange, please) and my husband had the chocolate hazelnut mousse. The restaurant offers a full bar with special drink offerings, both with and without alcohol. Each table has a different set of salt and pepper shakers - ours were Legos. Lunchtime on a Thursday wasn't overly busy. Staff was very friendly. We look forward to returning again soon.

Every portion of food is exquisitely flavored to perfection. The house vinaigrette and garden salad -perfect simplicity. Attentive service. Great subtle music and ambiance. We had appetizers, salad , main course, desert. Everything was great! Outside is in a strip plaza, but once inside you’d never know. The decor is cozy, eclectic, and cute. Right near the Outlet Mall.

Fabulous culinary delight in a quaint setting! All fresh, delicious gourmet dinner at a reasonable price. The decor is lovely with hand-painted murals. Seating is nicely spaced so you are comfortable with plenty of dining space. Fabulous, friendly service! We drive from Atlanta to enjoy this treasure in Dawsonville!

The absolute best restaurant in Dawsonville. The food and service is always outstanding. The chef adjusts the menu, so there are new things to try, along with favorites. If you love French cuisine, you have to eat at the Blue Bicycle. I have yet to have anything on the menu, that I did not love. As for the menu, the blue cheese chips, chicken liver mouse and pimento cheese starters are not to be missed. The wild shrimp with grit cake is outstanding. The Steak fries are great too. I highly recommend eating here, enjoy.

My mother and I just ate at this 5 star restaurant yesterday. The service was fantastic, the atmosphere was relaxing with good mood music in the background and most importantly the food was displayed with the most artistic touch!!! We loved everything! Exquisite dishes that taste amazing! We will most definitely be going back and will be bringing more people to share this great experience. Thank you, Guy!

This restaurant is Dawsonville's saving grace. The food is phenomenal, the service is always great. It's so nice to have a restaurant that's not a chain in this area! And clearly dedicated to high-quality ingredients and top-notch service.

We dined here on vacation, a group of 5 women for a late lunch/early dinner. Camille served us and she was wonderful. The food was amazing, especially the bread. Even the burgers were out of this world. I highly recommend this hidden gem. … and we did think it was a little hard to find. It’s in what appears to be the backside of a strip mall at the very quiet end without much advertising outside. At first glance we weren’t sure it was open. Once you enter it’s a beautiful little bistro with high a high end menu and much more upscale looking than the outside is. We were pleasantly surprised. I would definitely eat here again and recommend to anyone looking for a quiet place with wonderful food and excellent service.

I have dined at Blue Bicycle on several occasions for dinner. This was my first lunch dining experience with them and it can best be described as “unprepared”. We did arrive at 11:30 so I can overlook this as it has never been my experience before however, I cannot accept the quality of the food. I had the warm chèvre salad and added the optional chicken. I was not expecting it to be a very large breast that overwhelmed the salad and quite frankly looked like an unplanned option. Finally the chicken was as salty a beef jerky. I could not even finish a single bite. I hope it was just a case of forgetting they had already salted. As stated previously this was our first lunch and this has not been our usual experience with dinner.
Jim Hanson — Google review
Food is basic in nature, can likely be bought for a similar quality at a less expensive restaurant. Service was slow. The meat was chewy and edits to food were not made when asked (though only asked once during the order due to how long the food took to even arrive). Missed something nice in the flavor, was very basic and not worth $$$ dollar signs for the restaurant overall. Overhyped similar to Red Lobster, but a fine once in a while meal, but not a lavish experience.

Papa's Place has been and continues to be one of my favorite places to eat in North Forsyth and Dawson County. The food, quality of service, and environment are consistent, and excellent! The value for your dollar is fantastic and the selection is always large. Papa's place should be a regular stop for anyone in the area!

We were looking for a place close by and stumbled across Papa Place. We read the reviews and concentrated on the lower ratings. We didn't see anyone that fit the description of a war horse. We were very happy with the cleanliness, service and the food. The grits were a little too runny for me, I like them thick. There were 6 in our party. We did have to wait to pay for about 10 minutes, our server was MIA. We will return.

Everything was amazing!! We are from out of town and stopped her for lunch. The place was nicely set up with things to purchase. The employees were prompt to sit us fastly and very nice. The food was amazing. We had country fried steak, grilled cheese, soup, and a BLT. The waitress was so nice and helped us figure out a nice place to look at a waterfall. We would go back here again when we are in town.

We had a party of 25 tonight. The service and food was 5 star! Plates were steaming hot when they came out. Adi did a great job taking care of us, and always love Tanya! If you are in Dawsonville make sure you stop by and eat at Papas Place. I have never been disappointed!

Favorite breakfast spot in Dawsonville, GA. Food is delicious, staffs are friendly, coffee is strong. Highly recommend Country Fried Steak Skillet. Got 2 breakfasts from 1 order. I love mine with eggs over medium and country potatoes. Plus sausage gravy (on the side) and a biscuit for my second breakfast. It also comes with delicious grits.

The food reminds me of good diner food. Something I've been missing for years and been unable to find since moving to Georgia. The staff is always friendly and helpful, they really care that you have a good experience. This is my new favorite breakfast place. I look forward to trying lunch next!

Well, I came here 2 days in a row hoping I had found my new breakfast spot. The prices were decent but my eggs were very runny (over easy) and I had ordered then over medium... That's a pretty simple task for a breakfast spot. Most folks order "over medium" because they don't want the slimy, watery, runny part of the egg white. They want a runny yolk ONLY... The server never even asked if something was wrong with the eggs I clearly didn't eat nor did she ask if I wanted a refill on my coffee... What a disappointment... These are simple things to be expected. I manage a restaurant so I'm well aware of how things should operate and this was a bummer...

Steak house
LongHorn Steakhouse is a popular casual chain renowned for its char-grilled beef and classic American cuisine. Set in a rustic ranch-style ambiance, this establishment is celebrated for its exceptional customer service. Caroline, the server, ensured that patrons were excellently cared for with her remarkable attention to detail. While the sides offered delightful flavors, some diners found the steak slightly hurriedly prepared, resulting in an overly cooked exterior and tough texture. Nevertheless, the impeccable service salvaged the overall dining experience.
This place was very clean and the service was great! We were greeted as soon as we walked in and seated right away! This was my first time here and whenever I’m back in the area I will be sure to visit again… My steak was cooked medium as requested and it the taste was excellent! I also enjoyed the bread and butter that came out before the meal.😋

Best steak house all around the US. Best combo is the ribs, with broccoli and the loaded potato! I could eat it everyday. Great atmosphere, great service and great food. There’s a kids menu and they are very kids friendly. Would recommend and I’m going back again. If you arrive before 5 you’re good, after 6pm there’s a wait to get seated.

Customer service was phenomenal!!!! Caroline did a great job making sure we were well taken care of. She was wonderful. As for the food itself. The sides were pretty good, but my steak seemed a bit rushed. The inside "temperature" was good; however, the outside was extremely done and really chewy. But the customer service saved the experience!

I had a great time having a late lunch at LongHorn Steakhouse in Dawsonville with a good friend. The chicken tenders were light and tasty, pared with a side salad with blue cheese dressing. I wish I had taken some pictures, but I was enjoying the company and the atmosphere 😕. My friend had the salmon, which was perfect as usual.

Update 06/30/23 - We went today and it was the worst ever, the soups came completely cold, then we asked for a steak medium rare and they over cooked it. The server was not attentive at all, the bread felt old and dry, homestly I don't think we will go back ever...

Both people in our party who ate the salmon were ill within 30 minutes. Notified the restaurant and they had no interest in hearing my concerns. Dined in for lunch on a weekday. Steamed rice tasted leftover, Teriyaki entree was bland, tempura veggies were tasteless and sushi wasn’t cold and had leftover taste as well. Soup and salad were good. Server was great. Atmosphere was so-so, nothing special. Won’t return because of food.

We have been coming to Osaka for years. The last couple times we have ate there the food was not as good. Tonight we ate there for my husband's birthday. When we walked in the place was hotter than it was outside, and it was 92 degrees outside. We decided to stay and just deal with the heat. While sitting, we noticed how hot the grill was. It was almost as if we were sitting next to a fire. After 10 minutes the waitress finally came to get our drink and food order. My husband ordered two sushi rolls as well. They did not come out until after our food had been cooked. The salad was not fresh and the lettuce was turning orange due to that. The cook was great with our kids, but the food was not good at all. Honestly, I do not think it was his fault either. The grill was way too hot and started to burn the food immediately. The fried rice was crunchy (almost as if it was not completely cooked when boiled). That made the rice not even worth eating. The grill being too hot not only caused the food to burn, but it also caused the grease/sauces to pop all over the place. Our youngest child kept saying his eyes were burning due to this. When we left my our sunglasses we had on our heads while inside, were covered in little grease spots. We all felt gross and like we needed showers after leaving there. The waitress was the only one in the whole restaurant waiting on all the tables. This caused her to take longer than it should have for drinks, food, and checks. The owner did not even seen to be helping any either. He walked around and stood behind the bar not offering any help to this poor girl. Within 15 minutes of leaving all of us felt sick to our stomachs. We have decided this was our last time eating here. We will take out business else where now.
Kaitlin Chastain — Google review
Two words to describe this place. NO. YUCK! Crab Rangoon was so sweet. The inside looked like powdered sugar mixed with water. The "Cream Cheese" inside dripped out. The outside was undercooked and chewy. Spring rolls were just mush inside. Fried ricevwas not cooked and rice was crunchy. inside. F inside mush
Captain Captain — Google review
The service was very good. I started with the gyoza appetizer. The flavor was good but they were tough and over cooked. I had the steak bento box. The rice was very dry and over cooked. The steak was over done and tough. The sushi was just ok. The fried shrimp and veggies were pasty from the batter still being wet and under cooked. The fried portion was inedible. Overall, I would not recommend nor will I return. Too bad, because the servers were very nice.
