My husband and I were looking for a nice seafood restaurant for our wedding anniversary weekend. Diamond Shoals was within walking distance to where we were staying so we decided to try them. For a Saturday evening, we were expecting to wait to be seated but they were able to seat us right away. We were greeted with hush puppies to share before we even ordered which was unexpected! Our waitress came quickly after and we ordered 2 captains platter (broiled) with mashed potatoes and the vegetable of the day (green beans with pepper and onions). They came out really quick and was delicious. I would recommend to anyone who can’t decide exactly what to get. Will definitely be returning the next time we are in Buxton.

This place is awesome! Definitely recommend going here if you want a huge meal. I came here with a group of 7 and here are some of the kids opinions… 8 yr old: It gave a lot of good food! 11 yr old : I loved the yummy chicken! 14 yr old: Lots of yummy large portions!

Very prompt service and a table available as soon as we arrived! Seafood was fantastic the captains platter and mate platter I'd highly recommend as well as any other fresh food dishes. The pasta dishes were not a favorite of any of us but the seafood was! Definitely recommend a dinner here if you're in the area.

Beautiful restaurant. It has a cute little store up front where you could buy souvenirs. Food was very good and the service was great. The crab stuffed mushrooms and the scallops were delicious. They had so many appetizing chef special sushi rolls to choose from. Their crab chowder was rated #1 in a competition in 07 and 10.

For starters, The atmosphere was great! The cute gift shop was a nice touch and the decor was a plus! The service was great, as we got seated immediately and it didn’t take long to order are food and drinks. Our server, Trisha was so nice and brought the drinks fast and we got a free basket of hush puppies! The food was fantastic and very fresh I had the clam chowder and it was delicious! I highly recommend. This restaurant was great and I’m glad that we ate here today

Diamond Shoals is a lovely restaurant! It’s no wonder why they were named best clam chowder in outer banks, the service and the people were amazing. The restaurant also has a cute gift shop in the front!

Just what you'd expect near the ocean: great seafood! My group all had something different, all very good...Grouper, shrimp, tuna wrap and veggie quesadilla. The server was friendly and efficient. The food came out quick, fresh and delicious and the atmosphere fit the "beach scene"! We highly recommend this place and will be back!

Stopped at beachshop next door after visiting Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and noticed their sign Voted best Clam chowder on the island just so happened that is what I was looking to have for lunch. Very good salad bar, fresh looking not wilted. Clam chowder is cream based and full of clams the way I like. Very good flavor. Shrimp was very good as well.

First visit, not the last! As an Eastern Shore girl, really was hopeful that the Oysters and Shrimp would be good. ...super surprised that they were on point and delicious!! Service was spot on as well.
Crystal Heiser — Google review
Stopped in for a quick lunch and the food was great! The calamari was some plump squid and didn’t have too much breading which made them perfect. My meal of the rib eye wrap and sweet potato fries hit the spot. The seafood quesadilla was delicious too! PS- this place offers a free sand dollar for a nice review. To my loyal review followers, I did NOT accept this bribe and I will continue reviewing food with pure integrity. The stars given in this review were based purely on the delicious food consumed by myself and accompanying party, not because we were showered with gifts and bribery.

This place was really great. Great variety that the whole family could enjoy and many gluten free items. The complimentary hush puppies were so good that we purchased another order to bring home. My friend shrimp and scallops had a great panko breading. Was light and didn’t overpower the protein. My daughter said her sushi was the best she ever had. Service was outstanding. *note - we received no benefits from this review. Just wanted to tell the universe how great this restaurant is!

Just had lunch here with my family. I wished we had picked a different restaurant. The positives: we were seated right away as there was no wait this Friday afternoon. The food for the most part was pretty good! My husband enjoyed a cup of their “award winning” chowder and really liked their all you can eat salad bar. We ordered some appetizers to share: chicken wings, hush puppies, and fish bites…all were good. For entrees, we had the grilled mahi, fried grouper sandwich, grilled chicken wrap, and chicken tenders - again, all pretty tasty. The negatives: The grilled mahi was grossly overpriced for the size that it was. That being said, as I stated above, it was good…just too expensive. The biggest problem with this restaurant is the SERVICE, which was awful. It took awhile for our waitress to come and get our drink orders. Then it took awhile for her to circle back and get our food order. By then, it was clear that our waitress was not in a good mood today. She was extremely curt and every time we asked for something, it was as though we were a big burden for her. It got to a point in our meal that we wished there was a way of getting our own drink refills- so as not to have to bother her for anything. Our appetizers came and she did not come out with plates so that the 6 people in our group can share the appetizers. My 2 school aged daughters opened up their napkins to use as plates - even they sensed something was wrong with the waitress. One of my family members ordered the grill mahi with a side of French fries and collard greens. Instead of collard greens, green beans were brought out instead. He pointed this out to the waitress. She said that they were out of collard greens and said nothing else! I’m pretty sure when a restaurant is out of a side dish, it’s customary for the waitress to come and ask the customer what other side dish he’d want instead. For side dishes, they also have fries, waffle fries, onion rings, and mashed potatoes. There was no apology, no offer to get him something else. It was just a very matter of fact…this is what she brought out for him and that’s what he gets. What was most upsetting is approximately 15 minutes later, a gentleman 2 tables away got his meal with a side of collard greens!! I don’t leave a lot of bad reviews. I think long and hard about what kind of rating I give a restaurant. I almost gave this restaurant a 2 star review because the service was just that bad. However, the food was decent…and therefore justifies a higher rating. I just hope that no one else gets the same kind of service my family and I got today.

First timers here & we highly recommend. Staff is friendly, atmosphere is down to earth-family friendly & affordable. I HIGHLY recommend their famous clam chowder, it is hands down the best we have ever had! We had the salad bar (best homemade blue cheese dressing) with a side of the grilled mahi & the fish wrap with mango salsa for lunch, all were very tasty. We WILL be returning customers in the future.

We loved this place! It was a very busy Saturday night but we were seated immediately. We watched our server Kelly bouncing from several tables, working the bar, busing tables, and running out food all while still being very attentive to each and every guest. We ordered the clam chowder which was delicious and nibbled on our free basket of hush puppies. The NC oysters Rockefeller were pretty good for a couple who does not enjoy raw oysters. We shared the captains platter broiled which included grouper, scallops, and shrimp with fried clam strips and oysters piled on top. The grouper was a generous size and the scallops were buttery soft.

The sushi was amazing and the staff was friendly and attentive even during a shift change! We went twice in one visit which is rare. We love OBX Buxton and will definitely be back!

Man , we had a great dining experience here today. Our wait staff did it perfectly. I’ve eaten here many times over the past 25 years. Today ,was money. Scallops were dang near perfect. Big , Thanks to Vinny who took care of us. Keep it up guys, if you can carry that service and quality throughout the summer, you guys are going to kill it. We will definitely be back.. Thanks .

We were greeted by the smell of deliciousness as we walked in. As we waited to be seated we looked around at the wonderful little shop when you walk in. It didn’t take long when they sat a table of 6 down. The waitress Donna was such a sweetheart. Took our orders right away and were out with drinks in seconds. We thought the price might be on the most expensive side but once we got our food we stopped complaining. You get a TON of food for your buck. And it is all absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend.

Cafe Pamlico is a high-end bar and eatery located at the Inn on Pamlico Sound, offering locally sourced seafood dishes and outdoor seating. It is known for its delicious fried shrimp, scallops, flounder, and other seafood options. The restaurant provides a great dining experience with its waterfront location on Hatteras Island. The perfect restaurant to celebrate our anniversary! This was me and my husband’s first time here and we absolutely loved it. Great location, beautiful sunset and delicious food. Highly recommend the tuna entree. The fresh catch tonight (speckled trout) was also fantastic!! Would definitely come here again next time we visit the area.

Incredible experience. Every single staff member we spoke to was really kind, food was great. If I have to critique I would say the salmon I ordered wasn’t to my personal liking (I felt as though it wasn’t as much food as the others for around the same price point but I’m just assuming that’s because of the cost of the salmon, I also didn’t mention this to the waitress because I figured I wouldn’t be able to send it back for something different, it wasn’t a big deal) I wish I remembered the waitresses name because she was awesome. Location is great not many restaurants on the island are right on the water, and some of the ones that are don’t feel as comfortable as this one. The staff was also busy with a beautiful wedding but still made us feel welcome and accommodated. Chose this place to celebrate my birthday since I’ve been to most other restaurants on the island except here and it was a great first impression. Don’t let the obscure location fool you, it’s a hidden gem!

This is a wonderful restaurant with an amazing view of the sound. The food is exquisite and the service is very friendly. When they have live music, it adds to its great ambience. Highly recommend the shrimp & grits - it is one of a kind. You can't go wrong with anything on their menu - they have a nice variety.

This place is perfect! The staff is very nice and welcoming, the food is amazing !! We loved everything we ordered. The view on the sea and the sunset is beautiful directly from the table and we had the chance to listen to a good signer and his guitar all the evening :)

Absolutely amazing view, wonderful live music, and delicious, beautifully presented food. It was the perfect restaurant for our Anniversary! Thank you so much!! Make sure you call ahead to get the best views. I thought it might be too hot sitting outside, but the breeze coming off the water was nice, and the breath-taking sunset was something I will never forget! 💗 And, yes they have vegetarian food too, and it is delicious and filling.

While staying at the Inn we had breakfast all three mornings of our stay. Absolutely delicious! There was no need for us to go anywhere else, you won’t find any where better. The views from inside as well as the deck are breathtaking! We tried different things from the menu each day and I can’t pick a favorite because everything I had was my favorite. Each morning they had a different specialty pancakes, my husband tried a different one each morning. Apple pie, white chocolate raspberry and cinnamon bun flavored, oh my goodness they all melt in your mouth! I had the specialty omelet that was packed with crab meat and goat cheese… heaven! The staff is so friendly yet also formal, making it a high end experience. On our last night we had dinner. My brother and his girlfriend, who are locals joined us. It was fabulous! Our waiter was so professional and on top of everything. We had two starters and salads, delicious! Then our meals came out and let me tell you, best meal I have ever had. We ate like kings and queens! The details in the design of the outdoor deck is impressive and the lighting creates such a romantic ambiance. The attention to detail doesn’t go unnoticed. If you are on the island and don’t eat here… you have no idea what you are missing!

We recently stayed in the Morning Glory room for our friends wedding. It was a beautiful room. The view was absolutely amazing. The food was top notch. The wedding went very smooth. The staff was very professional and always helpful with a smile. I highly suggest this venue for any event and dining.

Great place to have breakfast. I think the best breakfast during our vacation. Bloody Mary was very good (they have a variety of Bloody Maries). Californian Eggs Benedict were yummy and even plain eggs with sausage was great. Definitely coming back and want to book their hotel room too.

We came to have a romantic date night and try their vegan menu. The level of service here is a dying art, these are truly professionals. The only reservation spot available was 830 (when they close at 9) but we never felt rushed. Cucumber gimlet cocktails were delish. It’s such a delight to have several vegetable-centric plant based options to choose from, not just a beyond burger. We got the coconut rice and the curry. Veggies and rice were cooked to perfection. Great flavor profiles on both, the coconut rice was our favorite.
Jennifer Wicker — Google review
Absolutely fantastic food and atmosphere, love that it overlooks the bay. They have their own garden that they grow fresh veggies and fruit! Vegan friendly menu, waitress was kind and attentive. We had a great casual fine dining experience. I do wish their fresh bread was vegan & hope to see them innovate and experiment with new vegan dishes on their menu in the future as we will definitely be coming back next year!

Went during off peak season, had a reservation and they took us early (not busy). The staff were very nice and knowledgeable of their menu. We landed on Wednesday which happened to be half price bottles of wine. The apps were a risotto cheese ball (like a round cheese stick) and the cheese pull was great! The other one was fried tuna bites and they were awesome, very meaty and fresh and breading was excellent. My main course meal photos never saved to my phone (very disappointed).... We had catch of the day - baked Sheepshead fish and a grilled sea scallop pasta. Everything was great.

We were sat waterfront for our Anniversary dinner; wait staff acknowledged our special occasion many times. Service was attentive and helpful. Tuna Tataki appetizer; scallops, yellow grouper were all delicious. Martini with blue cheese stuffed olives was very tasty! This was a great choice in Southern OBX for a special occasion meal . Good place to stop. Really nice staff which was so worth it! The views speak for itself. Food is average. Came for Sunday breakfast, small portions $56 for 2 people. Hubby had amazing shrimp and grits, I should of got that. It was delicious. I had chicken and waffles but didn't really like it, waffles were hard. 2 pieces of chicken strips, I left hungry. Dessert was ok, not great enough to finish. Would like to come back and try dinner though. It's a peaceful place.

Our family of 7 ate here for our special dinner out on our vacation and it didn't disappoint. The property is beautiful. We were seated with a beautiful view. The food was amazing - specifically the soft shell crab, bang bang clams, & the fried chicken! We enjoyed everything. We had a great dining experience. We will return!

Ate at a few places while on vacation in the Outer Banks and Cafe Pamlico was the best! Both the food and drinks were excellent, service was good, and the atmosphere was great! I highly recommend their Filet Neptune entrée. The meat and sides were incredible and full of flavor! The Brussel sprouts and Bang Bang clam strips appetizers were excellent as well. If you are looking for a romantic dinner spot in Buxton, you can't do better than Cafe Pamlico!

Super friendly staff and wonderful food! We got the shrimp tacos and the fish tacos and they were both excellent with plenty to take home. Unique nostalgic decor and a cool vibe. One of the best spots we visited while on the island. Thanks again!

This is a small hole in the wall place that you can easily miss but is a must if you're looking for fresh food at a reasonable price. We beat the lunch crowd and were seated right away. The number one dish we're the fish tacos so of course I had to give that a try. You're given four large tortillas (warm) with a separate plate of all the fixins and two large fillets of your choice of fresh catch. The sauce they provide didn't look appealing to me but tasted amazing and I ended up using the whole amount they provided! Check out my pictures to see what this large portion of great food looked like and stop in and try some things for yourself when in the area!

This place was on our list of places to try on this area and we went today. We didn't go wrong. The food was fresh and delicious. Nicely served, which is very important as well and the service was great. We had the fish tacos, shrimp salad and chicken tenders. Ambiance was also a nice surprise with great music in the background. We loved the place, service and the food! Highly recommended!

What a hidden gem! Nice little place with quick service and incredible food, and low prices! The restaurant was very clean and the menu had lots to choose from. I got the fish tacos and they were hands-down the best I’ve ever had. Huge portion size at a great price. Super fresh and delicious. We will absolutely be back! Definitely stop in for some grub, you won’t be disappointed.

Great local eatery! We waited about 20 minutes for a seat at the counter (only 2 of us- so that was fine.) FYI- There are only a handful of tables - larger parties need to be flexible. Our late lunch was well worth the wait! We had the homemade chips and salsa as an appetizer. Before we were finished with it, our food arrived. I ordered grilled old bay grouper tacos and my other half ordered grilled old bay shrimp tacos. Both platters arrived quickly. They were fresh, well-cooked and beautifully presented. I added onion straws. He added fries. Both were piping hot and delicious! Food is great and the atmosphere is quirky. Come hungry. Be patient. Leave happy and full! Highly recommend trying them out. We will return!

Wow, wow, and wow! A awesome "Big Cheese Burger" and onion rings. No wonder they had best take out burgers. Not your average bun but a bread roll that adds to the unique taste. Great tasting. Everything was fresh! Delivered to your car by a polite young man. Amended review, went back again today for the Big CB, again and tried the Spicy Tuna Wrap. It was over the top tasty, spicy but not overwhelming so the other flavor could shine through. See pic below is only half. Highly recommended!

Chris Bennett — Google review
We drove 30 minutes to get there, hour round trip, worth every mile. The shrimp tacos were amazing. Shrimp is seasoned with a little kick. Fresh rice, black beans, onion, lettus, cheese, and soft taco shells held their form even when loaded up. The sauce added a nice flavor. I did not use the salsa just because I chose not to. Four soft tacos, 12 seasoned shrimp, and more than enough fixings. I used 3 shrimp for each taco, and I think I ended up with one bonus shrimp. Well worth the trip. The business does have a small, but, nice dine-in area, but we ordered to go. Food was ready when promised in about 15 minutes and we arrived at about 5 p.m. and they were not too busy, but I understand that they usually have a nice line, so be a little patient. The owner was there, and the service was spot on. I rarely give 5 stars because too many people just throw that number out there, but when I give 4 stars, I stand behind them.

I found this place when researching places to eat when in Buxton. I loved the vibe and bright colors of the pictures and knew my husband and I needed to make a visit. I knew I wanted to try the tacos so I got the old bay seasoned shrimp tacos. My husband got the fried oyster basket. Both did not disappoint. The service was great and the presentation of the taco ingredients was aesthetically pleasing to the eye - as well as tasted great! We loved the sauce given for the tacos and the salsa was a nice kick. We will be returning the next time we are in Buxton!

If I could give this place 10 stars I would. I found the restaurant on Google looking for a place with good oysters. Everything we ate was amazingly delicious. The restaurant was packed almost the whole time we were there; in a Wednesday in the off season. The locals eat there too so you know it’s good. I’ve seen a lot of reviews complaining about the price, but the portions are large. It is worth the money spent.

Waitress was great too!

The menu is a bit more extensive than the standard fried seafood that most people associate with the beach. But it's still conventional enough to satisfy. Very large juicy meaty scallops, very fresh food, very light batter coating on the fried stuff. But they also go out of the box on certain recipes like blackened scallops, Mahi fingers, pineapple chutney, jalapeno tartar sauce, etc. For a seafood establishment this far down the island, it also is not extremely expensive, like some of the other ones. So in conclusion, very tasty affordable, inventive food, in an interesting environment.

Hands down my favorite restaurant in the area. We sat at the bar and Maggie was awesome! She paid attention to everything and gave us everything we needed (and more!! ask for her tropical margarita 🤭) I got the scallops and coconut shrimp pictured in my review; AMAZING. I had been waiting to eat at this spot since last year but was unable due to staffing issues. The wait was well worth it!!! We arrived at around 7 PM and were seated almost immediately despite it being packed. Everything from the drinks, appetizers, entrees, and desserts were amazing. They take their time bringing food out between courses which we loved because it gave us time to talk and enjoy our food. Our server, Jordon, was probably the best server we have ever had at any restaurant. He was personable, attentive, and friendly, he made us feel like he was serving us from his home. It's a family-friendly spot with a laid-back atmosphere and a cool arcade room attached to the seating area. Open for lunch and dinner year-round, it provides an enjoyable dining experience for both kids and adults.
Great local pizza joint. Staff was very nice and the food was outstanding. Bonus is the arcade with games for the kids.

We stopped in for lunch and the kids had a great time. You order at the front counter and they bring your food out once ready. Lots to choose from mostly Italian staples, but they also had a bunch of sandwiches you could choose. I got a small pizza for the kids, 1/2 cheese 1/2 pepperoni and I got the flounder sandwich. Sandwiches didn't come with any sides, so I got a order of onion rings. They have a small room with about 5-6 tables then once you enter the arcade section they have some bigger high tops in there too. One thing I did like was they had both a Coke and Pepsi side to there sod dispenser. Nice touch, I know I'm more of a Coke guy, but my kids like some Pepsi stuff. I got $10 in quarters and divyed them up between the the two and let them go play. Not a hugh arcade, but a bowling game, pool table, air hockey, some claw games, pinball and few others. I stayed in the 1st area waiting for our food watch TV on the 2 they had in there. The young lady brought our food out, wasn't to long of a wait. The pizza was pretty standard, nice and greasy of you like it that way. My kids though it was good. My flounder was pretty good, lightly fried. Thought the bun was to big, it overcame the sandwiches, where you almost only tasted the bun, I pulled my fish off and ate it separate. The onion rings were really good. They had a few outside picnic tables and a little covered seating as well. There was also a ice cream stand as well. Would definitely come back, especially with the kids.

DO NOT EAT HERE! We just got a pizza and found a razor sharp piece of metal in the food. After showing the server she just said oops sorry. Didn’t even offer a refund… I had to ask her to refund the pizza. She confirmed with someone in the kitchen it was a piece off a metal scrub pad they use. Not sure they understood how dangerous and concerning this was.

Wow!! Really great pizza and the large house side was beyond expected. Really great service on pick-up. The inside wasn't anything special but I was there just to pick up the food. I would like to thank them for such great tasting food.

Got their gluten free pizza and it was amazing. Was looking for a place to get food from on the first night of vacation and so glad we found this place. Will definitely stop back in. Staff also answered questions I had for my dietary needs. A+ for you guys.

We ordered a small half pineapple and half mushroom pizza. Also 6 honey bbq wing. Everything was delicious. I forgot to take a picture when we received the order. We were too hungry and it looked delicious. The pizza and wings were perfectly cooked.

Tried them for the first time today. Reviews are legit- this place was great! Pizza was outstanding, chicken was super crispy and delicious. Subs were perfect. Wish I would have tried this spot when we still lived in NC! Inside is super cool and clean. Ice cream by the scoop on the way out. Will be back!

Food was so good the first time we had to go back a second time. First visit I got a house salad and it was great! Buffalo Chicken wrap and fries and had to take half of it to the house. Second visit I got another salad and split a 16" 5 ingredient pizza and it was really good! Next time we visit we will be back. Drink area might need a rubber grip mat because it gets slick!

Have ordered online for pickup a couple times here. The ordering process is first class, efficient, especially impressive for such a busy place here. Food was kept warm until we got there. Loved the pizza (pepperoni and meat) and the cheese bread sticks. The crust, cheese, sauce all great. Our top choice for pizza on the island. Looking forward to trying more variety here in the future.

The best pizza we have had for a long time. Served hot and was delicious. The restaurant was very clean. Service was friendly. Unfortunately we didn't get a picture of the pizza, guess we were too hungry.

Amazing pizza. It’s a lengthy wait (about an hour) but it’s worth it. Great crust, very good cheese. Entire family loved it.

I am grateful that a restaurant is open in the low season at the end of February. I also liked that Angelos has many items on the menu. Being close to the ocean, I wanted seafood. I decided to pass on the calamari, a thing hard to cook correctly. But shrimp is hard to mess up. However, Angelos did. The shrimp was very salty, trying to compensate for the lack of flavor by being frozen. The fried cauliflower was better, but it was just average. They only sell alcohol or Pepsi products, which is inferior to Coca-Cola. Angelos is a popular place in town, but I hope we can find better food than Angelos. The food was so bad I gave it to the seagulls. 💔

Hands down THE BEST pizza we've had in ages! You can really tell when love is in the food and pride is in the end result. Only thing I wish is that we had pizza like this in Michigan - perfectly cooked crust, sauce on point, and an abundance of toppings while being cooked to perfection! The person who took the order was super nice to the Mrs & she said the driver was so nice! 10/10 all around for sure!

We ordered food to go and didn't have to wait long. It was very good and still hot when we returned to our rental house. Staff was very friendly.

Dropped by for quick grab and go lunch, ended up eating inside. Food was surprisingly good, burger & fries, calzone, cheesesteak though was average. Haven’t tried their pizzas, menu is extensive. Clean restaurant, arcade for kids available

Quality pizza and subs but my favorite part was the atmosphere...anyone who grew up in the 80s & 90s will remember the vibe of the old neighborhood pizza arcade hangout. Makes you want to get a couple pies and a pitcher of soda and hang out with the cast of Saved by the Bell. Good times.
