Pub
Ott House is a longstanding, relaxed establishment that offers an extensive selection of beers, along with pub-style dishes and frequent entertainment. This charming eatery in a small town provides excellent food and top-notch service from friendly staff. Although it can get busy on weekends, planning ahead ensures a pleasant dining experience. The venue boasts various forms of amusement such as darts, music, and pool tables to keep guests entertained. Patrons are particularly impressed by the impressive range of cold beers available.
We found the Ott House after a hike on a damp, chilly day. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. Our server was helpful, friendly and efficient. We both had the sassy chicken salad. The greens were crisp, the chicken was done to perfection, and the honey mustard had just the right balance of sweet and tangy. We'll go back.

Great, small town restaurant! Good food, great service, and they are all very friendly. They do get busy, so plan ahead a little on a weekend night. They have a darts, music, and several pool tables to entertain yourself with. The beer selection is awesome, and it was always cold. The wings.....NOT breaded! That's a bonus!!!! they have some famous, mild wing sauce, but that seemed more like a sweet and sour sauce or something. Still, it was good. Wings were crispy! Had the steak, it was a little overcooked, but delicious with a loaded baked potato. The baked was fully cooked. If you're at the NFA down the road, hit this up to an alternative to bland caf food there!

Smallish bar and grill. Its kind of dark and crowded throwback of a place. Really seems like a local hangout. Decent beer selection. The burgers were very good. Best I have had in the area

The kind of restaurant I'd love to give five stars, but it's challenging to do so when the place tells you a time at which they are going to limited menu, you get their before that time and the place is packed, yet the late-night menu has already started. It doesn't help that we sat there for 12 minutes before getting service. Once we did the staff was very nice. Oddly the bar smelled like someone was smoking, I thought that was illegal these days? I am hoping to go back again soon to see if this was a one-off, but the impression left this time was definitely less than ideal...

Atmosphere - 5 stars This is the standard that any pub should try to live up to. Plenty of local community decorations on the walls (especially from the fire department). The bar isn't noisy or rowdy at all. So much in fact that I would call this place kid friendly. I would call this place more of a restaurant with a bar inside than a bar that has an attached restaurant. We had Katie as our server and she did great! Food - 4 stars Decent pub food, but the prices are great. I got the roast beef sandwich with fries and gravy on everything and it was good! We also had the crab dip and the flavor was excellent. Service - 3 stars We sat down and waited about 20 minutes for our appetizer, not too bad but it was noticable. Then it was another wait for the entrees to come out, but it was a busy night so I understood. Then when the entrees did come out, the person I was with didn't get their side of fries. Too many little things added up and it dampened the experience a little. All in all, I'll give it another shot on a weekend but I'd be worried about stopping in for a quick lunch.

Easily accessible restaurant in Emmitsburg. Was really looking forward to some crab fries. Unfortunately the fries were not good, soggy. The crab dip on top was plentiful but couldn't find any crab. It tastes like warm cream cheese over limp fries . The server was sweet and attentive. The fries were so bad and unappetizing we didn't order any other food.

This is a popular place to eat in Emmittsburg, MD. It is in the center of downtown right on the main drag (Rt 140) and easy to find as at is near an intersection. It is a hang out for the faculty and kids of Mount St Marys College. You could also bump into people from the National Fire Academy. So that in itself tells you the atmosphere of the place. We went on a Saturday a couple weeks ago (mid January). It wasn't crowded at all as we were able to grab a table right away. The staff was friendly and helpful when we talked with them. If we had more time, I would have done a few games of pool. I was enamored by all the patches and coins they had on the walls. Speaking of coins, they sell there own version (see pics) which I got for my son who is overseas now. Food was good and very diverse in what they offer. We got the Crab Dip with Chips and really downed that before our main food arrived. My wife just got the Chili which she enjoyed. I got the Fried Oyster Sandwich as I haven't had one in decades - yummmm. If in Emmittsburg and hungry, you muat stop here!

I really have nothing positive to say about my recent experience at Ott House. They deserve one star but, as they at least were a good establishment the last time I went, I gave them two. The service was absolutely abysmal, it was almost impressive how poor the staff is. Almost 15 minutes after the order being taken to receive beverages. Appetizer came out with the entrees. Most of the food was cold. Rude staff. No refills on empty glasses. My first inclination was to give the benefit of the doubt but there were five servers, not including bartenders, for a restaurant that was almost empty. Quite the decline from the last I was in the area. I won't be back.
Andy Woodson — Google review
A family friendly place with a nice variety on the menu. Prices are reasonable and the portions are good. Both my hot turkey sandwich and my friend's regular turkey sandwich were delicious! Definitely a place to go for good food.
Stephen Lohrmann — Google review
Stopped at the Ott House after visiting the Washington Monument in Maryland. The food was good but the portions were small for the price paid. Service was OK as the servers seemed confused about the menu and were not very attentive. Typical pub type atmosphere was nothing special. It is on a Main Street so parking is atrocious. Worth the visit but, I would not rush back.

Pushing through and found this place on Google. What a great local place! Great menu and fresh down home atmosphere. Had a great dinner at very fair prices. This may become one of our regular stops as we journey getting SC to NY!
Stephen Zajac — Google review
First time at Ott House and really enjoyed it. They were a bit slow, but there was a sign saying they were short staffed so it was something everyone was aware of from the beginning and you can't fault them for that. The ott's mild wings were a bit sweeter than I prefer but the wings were cooked great. The crab fries were fantastic. The atmosphere is great and it's fun to try to find fire patches on the wall from your city/state.

Our waitress was attentive and accommodating! We appreciated her outstanding customer service!! We had a very large group. She never made us feel rushed.

The wait staff was excellent. The beer on tap was good. Prices are reasonable. It feels like a local pub. Would give it higher marks if the music was better. I'm not a fan of country and dad rock.
Sara Miller — Google review
Great atmosphere!! They had different sports showing on many TV's, a quieter room with tables by a fireplace if you prefer, and even several tables in the back by the electronic darts and pool tables if you wanted to sit near them and watch family or friends play or even join in! There was also some kids dancing in the back by the darts and some up front watching the big screen TV with basketball on, great environment. Everything we ate was delicious from crab soups, French onion soup, Buffalo wings to cheese steak, pizza and just wonderful crab cakes. All the food came out pretty quickly too. I do have to say we were Amazed by our waitress who was Awesome!! Not only did she keep coming over and asking if we needed anything and refilling our drinks, but I think she was 1 of only 2 waitresses on shift for all of the tables. We had a very enjoyable time here at Ott House and cannot wait to come back!

Waited 30 minutes until we asked if there was table service. Finally got to order and they came back 10 minutes later to tell us they just closed the kitchen at 8:45 pm! Fun place though. Pool tables and a good bar atmosphere.

Wonderful experience at the lovely Carriage House! Beautiful ambience, delicious food! The menu is diverse and all yummy! The people are so kind, great service! Glad I came instead of eating at Liberty Mountain

Our group's dining experience here recently was wonderful!! I made reservations a month in advance, since our group was 20+ people stopping for lunch after a tour of the Seton Shrine down the road. The staff was very easy to make plans with, and very accommodating to our children-majority group. When we got there, we were welcomed to sit right down, as they had already prepared our section of the restaurant for us. The waitress was very efficient at taking our orders and getting our food to us promptly, and bus boys were quick to clean up and very personable. The food was amazing, just as I had hoped it would be! The Reuben Sandwich there is the best I've ever had -- packed with corned beef and served on delicious toasted rye bread. Yum!! It was a perfect lunch to have on our way over to the Lourdes Grotto about five miles away. Thank you to everyone at the Carriage House for making our group's day out at Emmitsburg a very delightful one!

Not that impressed. I was visiting Frederick MD and found this place because they have some gluten free options. Overall, the gluten free choices aren’t that many and a little under whelming. Although the service was friendly, it took a while to get our food. We were larger group (9) so they placed us in a larger room in the back by ourselves. Staff barely checked on us and it took a while (40+ minutes) to get our food. It took a lot of pull to get information about gluten free options available. If I didn’t ask directly, no guidance was given. When I mentioned I had to eat gluten free, I hoped someone would help guide me through the menu, but that didn’t happen. So just kept asking about everything! I ended up with the crab dip which was tasty. The chicken I ordered was a bit dry, and as you can see by the picture, the crab topping was minimal. Nothing exciting about the meal. Not sure I would recommend or go back. Plenty of parking.

SO yummy!!! I got the crab cake (which was ALL meat - hardly any filler) mashed potatoes and asparagus, plus shared a bowl of crab dip with the table. Everything was perfect and staff very friendly
Emily White — Google review
The ribeye was not very flavorful and it was tougher than other ribeyes I’ve had. The crab cake had fillers. I’m a spoiled Maryland girl and prefer my crabcakes to be jumbo lump but then this place did not say it would be jumbo lump so that’s understandable. Their wedge salad was THE BEST SALAD IVE EVER HAD! And the LOADED POTATOES were TO DIE FOR! The server we had, Lauren, was WONDERFUL! We loved her.

Great food and service. Menu with many options, friendly staff, pianist started to play for the evening diners shortly before we left. 5 of us ate meals, 2 appetizers, no alcohol or dessert for $176 plus tip.

If I could give extra stars, I would give them a 10! Our meal was outstanding! Compliments to the chef! Our waitress, MJ, was delightful and had a great sense of humor. Definitely will return next time we're in the area.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Carriage House in Emmitsburg, MD, and I must say, it was a truly delightful experience. From the warm and inviting ambiance to the attentive and friendly staff, everything about this restaurant exudes a sense of charm and sophistication. I opted for the surf and turf plate, and it turned out to be an excellent choice. The combination of flavors and textures was simply mouthwatering. The surf portion of the dish consisted of perfectly seared scallops that were incredibly tender and had a delightful caramelized crust. The accompanying turf, a succulent steak cooked to perfection, was juicy, flavorful, and cooked exactly to my liking. It was evident that the kitchen staff takes great care in selecting high-quality ingredients and executing each dish with precision. The plate was beautifully presented, with vibrant colors and artful plating. It was evident that a lot of attention to detail went into creating this culinary masterpiece. The sides that accompanied the main dish were equally impressive. The roasted vegetables were cooked to perfection, retaining a nice crunch while still being tender and flavorful. The buttery mashed potatoes were the perfect complement to the main course, providing a rich and creamy element to balance out the flavors. The service at The Carriage House was impeccable. The staff was knowledgeable about the menu, offering suggestions and answering any questions I had. They were attentive without being intrusive, ensuring that I had everything I needed throughout the meal. The waitstaff's friendly and professional demeanor further enhanced the overall dining experience. In addition to the outstanding food and service, The Carriage House offers a charming and cozy atmosphere. The restaurant is housed in a beautifully restored historic building, and the interior exudes a warm and welcoming vibe. The rustic décor and soft lighting create a relaxed and intimate setting, making it an ideal spot for a special occasion or a romantic evening out. Overall, my experience at The Carriage House was nothing short of exceptional. The surf and turf plate was a true delight, showcasing the culinary expertise of the kitchen staff. Combined with the attentive service and charming atmosphere, dining at The Carriage House is an experience I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a memorable and delicious meal in Emmitsburg, MD.

I had my baby shower here organized by my in-laws and it honestly couldn't have been better. The place is spacious, clean and organized. My in-laws went ahead to decorate and it turned out perfect. The food was EXCELLENT, super delicious and the service from the waiters was excellent. I recommend it 100%.

Best meal since we were there last year. We have already made reservations for Christmas. Went there with family and everyone loved thier food!!! The staff was so amazing and it was such a joyful experience. The newly renovated place is just lovely and it is worth every penny. We had a high quality meal and we want to do it again and again. Thank you for being such a great family destination, we are patrons for life. ❤️ Just had Christmas dinner with the family and once again Carraige House did not disappoint. The crab dip was so delicious as well as the fried shrimp for "first bites". We had an order of each for 5 people and it was perfect, although my daughter said the fried shrimp was so yummy she would eat it as her entree next time we eat here. Everyone's entrees were wonderful, it was prime rib Thursday so I was thrilled and the accompanying horseradish sauce was divine. Everyone devoured thier mashed potatoes, they really are beyond. Our server was Bonnie and she was exceptional. She was so sweet, competent and most of all patient, she made our meal and experience top notch. May I suggest the turtle cheesecake for dessert, save room it is worth it!! Thank you for making our holiday even merrier Carraige House!!

Went for Sunday brunch, and it was our first time visiting. We were not disappointed. The interior is clean, fresh, and had plenty of seating. The service was fast, the food was delicious. Our server was attentive and friendly. The big breakfast plate was a lot of food! The fruit cup was fresh, too. Bottomless good coffee. Parking is right out front. We'll be back!

This is a great place to eat when you want to take a break from the pub style restaurants that are so prevalent in this area. They have a very good selection of seafood as well as handhelds and salads. The crab cakes here are some of the best available in the area. I would not hesitate to go back more frequently.

They took us, a party of six, on short notice on a Sunday afternoon. It's a historic inn but has been recently renovated so the dining room is in good shape. They had a piano player playing nice tunes. I had the Chesapeake chicken, which I thought was excellent. Two of our party have the haddock sandwiches, which are large and good.

Beautiful, and historic restaurant in a quaint town. We walked in without reservations and we were surprised with a live Piano player. Very nice! I had the Pork Chop. My wife had the meat loaf. Both were excellent! What a nice surprise to find this gem, just about 20 minutes drive north of Frederick. Highly recommend! Well done 🙌🏻

This is one of our favorite restaurants to eat at. It's a bit more upscale but well worth it. The picture is of my Crab Crusted Haddock and it was amazing. The Haddock was cooked perfectly and the way the crab crust was done was perfect. You won't be disappointed.

Do not underestimate the deceptively ordinary appearance of Palms, a restaurant renowned for its exceptional cuisine and regarded as the premier dining establishment in town. It is wise to arrive early due to its popularity.

The food was a level below fast food, the owner was rude and foul mouthed, and I knew someone who worked there who was quite satisfied with the job but swore to never eat there I asked why and the only problem they relayed was that there was a serious cockroach problem in the kitchen and mice droppings as well. So that was enough to never eat there again

This small, little-town restaurant is pretty good. Not much ambiance, but the food is satisfying. Could use some updating, especially the bathrooms. Great for a grilled sandwich and desserts aren't bad at all. Service can be slow at lunch time, usually one server only.

Good comfort food. Better than other similar restaurants in the area. Salisbury steak is great. Love their corn fritters. Service is always good. Lots of locals eat here regularly. Great choice of delicious desserts. Very cozy atmosphere. I've never had a meal here that I didn't enjoy. I'm always able to find street parking. Can't wait to go back!

Cute diner really enjoyed our time there. three of us went there and the server was really helpful as to what we should decide to get. Our food was out quickly and the food was really tasty! This is a great place. It is a smaller place though so sometimes you may have to wait depending on the crowd, also I would sit towards the back of the restaurant during the winter because as people come in it may get chilly at the tables right next to the door :-)

Awesome food.Great prices and service. Get there early. Don't forget to stop by the Firehouse across the street and grab some gear and a 6 of Hearts entry or a surprise cooler entry. Get some.
Scat Packed — Google review
The food was excellent, but the "small town" vibe was more like a, "Who the *bleep* are you?" vibe. Actually had a table MOVE AWAY from where my friend and I were seated, after one of the ladies implied that we smelled bad. The server even treated us badly. Her idea of a greeting was, "What do you want?". No, "Hello", no "How are you?" just "What do you want". Never came to check on us after bringing our food, we had to wave her down just to order dessert and get the check. The food was amazing, but we were so uncomfortable I think I'll just order to-go next time... As someone who's served tables for 4+ years, I was honestly taken aback at her attitude. It was like they wanted us to leave from the moment we sat down.
Cristiana Barboza — Google review
Very poor attitude!! First time, will not go back. Entered on the bar side and walked around to the table side, as we entered we asked the waitress about a table. Her response was check the bar.... There was only two of us so we didn’t want to sit at a place for six so we sat at a table that had dirty dishes. I thought they would clear it soon. Ten minutes later still dirty dishes and no service. When the waitress finally came around with coffee to serve other tables she looked at us and I told her we wanted to be waited on and I pointed to the dirty dishes. No apologizes, no customer service she gave me an annoyed look and just nodded her head. Waited a few more minutes still nothing so we left. Very bad first impression. Stopped here because the reviews seemed to be positive.

Carleo Italian Pizza is conveniently located near the renowned shrines of Lady of Lourdes and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, offering delectable pizza and homemade lasagna at affordable prices. With a reputation surpassing 90% of other pizza shops, this eatery provides sumptuous meals without breaking the bank. The amiable staff adds to the pleasant dining experience.
We stopped in after visiting the wonderful shrines of Our Lady of Lourdes and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton which are both only a few miles away. Delicious pizza and homemade lasagna with very reasonable prices. I eat alot of pizza and I can say this place is better than probably 90% of the pizza shops I've been to. The staff here were also very friendly and helpful. May God bless you all.

The folks here are sweet and accommodating!! My friends and I were in town for a convention and decided to leave the hotel one night for dinner and chose take out from Carleo's. 4 entrees and 2 drinks came to around $60ish. Which seemed a little steep. The food isn't bad by any means. But for that much, we sort of expected a little more.

Pizza here is good, the rest of the food isn't too bad, pretty standard for a small local pizza place. I do wish they would do delivery more often, but that's the only real complaint I have.

The most accommodating and family friendly service! We stopped while travelling, thinking it would be a quick bite at a hole-in-the-wall pizza place. Well, we got incredible friendly service, delicious food, and a warm environment. It has indoor seating, a great accommodation for someone travelling, but it also appears like a thriving carry-out restaurant.

This place almost always busy. Growing up in Philly area, finding decent pizza and sandwiches elsewhere has always been challenging. Carleo's pizza is that mom and pop, made from scratch type of pizza shop that I keep coming back to, love their pizza and their sandwiches. Haven't disappointed yet!

I am not a picky person at all, but I draw the line when my food doesn’t taste like a food item. Meatballs taste like sawdust, lasagna tastes like soap, Alfredo tasted like cardboard. Pizza, subs, salads 👍 pasta is horrendously disappointing

Stavros Pizza is more than just a pizza place, offering a variety of options including subs, stromboli, and curly fries. Despite some drawbacks like a clunky website and tight parking, the food at Stavros is exceptional. The toppings are placed below the cheese on their delicious pizzas, and their zucchini sticks are crispy on the outside and melt-in-your-mouth on the inside.
The best crust & sauce I have had! Excellent service & food! A must try!
Lynn Holthaus — Google review
The pizza is pretty good here. I have had better, but it isn't bad. I cant speak for the other food they serve. The place itself isn't much but it was clean and homey. The pizza is definitely better than Pizza Hut or Domino's. The crust was pretty good, cooked to a crispy golden brown. The sauce is good and they put plenty of cheese on it. It's a decent pizza and the cost isn't outrageous. One pizza place, King's in Inwood, cost $22 for a medium that is not worth it. Stavros understands you cant charge outrageous prices for a simple pizza.
Adonnis Goldstein — Google review
This place is amazing! So the lows: I ordered on the web, the web site feels a bit clunky. The parking lot is super tight. The highs: the food. I ordered an 8" cheese, pepperoni, and mushroom pizza. It was delicious. One thing to keep in mind if you go here: the toppings are below the cheese. The crust was great, I loved how some of my toppings got tucked under the crust. I also got zucchini sticks, and they were amazung as well. Crisp on the outside, melt in your mouth on the inside. Finally because it was Thursday, they have a sub special on Thursdays (in March anyway), it too was nice and melty and just plain good. If you are in the area dine in or take out from here if you want some great pizza!

We were told on the phone it would be 25-30 minutes for our pick up order. When we got there (after 30 minutes) the boy rang us up and walked away. We were standing to the side for about 15 minutes. It was a Friday night so I figured they were busy but it was getting to be too long. I walked up to the cashier (same boy that rang us up) and asked if they knew how much longer until our food would he ready. He looked in the hotbox that has the ready orders and and our order was in there. He had been in there since before we got there. We got pizza that had a burnt taste to the crust, mozzarella sticks that were also dark and breaded mushrooms. We got 7 mushrooms in our order that cost almost $6. It was not a good experience what so ever and will probably not go back.
Lauren Stansbury — Google review
Used to really like this place, especially the meatballs and cheese sub. Today there was so little sauce on it, I could barely choke it down. When I asked for a small cup of sauce the guy had the nerve to tell me there would be an additional charge. How much can a couple teaspoons of sauce cost them. Also, the meat on my wife's steak and cheese tasted like it had been frozen for about a year. NOT going back there!
Sam R — Google review
Excellent pizza, lots of wonderfully melted cheese. Customer service is as good as it gets, owners walk around and asks opinions. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is the place could use some updating and paint. Other than that, the good is very good!
Patti Odbert — Google review
Best pizza around, staff is super friendly and fairly price. Restrooms our clean and old fashioned, they have games for kids. Walking distance from the Ott house and the liquor store. Plus they have their own parking lot and it always has spots available. But only park there if your getting pizza because their is a sign they say they tow violators.

Stavros has been a staple in the town for years and although they have gone through changes the place and pizza havent changed much...and this is a good thing. The pizza is our favorite and it is pretty unique. If you like a cheesy pizza with a big crust you will love this. We do eat in and carry out. They make the pizzas to order but so there can be a wait but it is worth it.
