This restaurant is popular for its good food, clean and well-run setting. The staff are super friendly and helpful, making it a great place to eat. The atmosphere is busy but comfortable, perfect for a night out with friends.
Good food, clean and well-run restaurant, super pleasant staff. As of today this restaurant has nearly 1,200 ratings with a very respectable star count. It is one of the only places to eat in the area and so it's pretty busy. We were here on a Thursday in April and still every table was occupied. We both got the pulled pork sandwich which was delicious, and the seasoned fries were perfectly cooked. We definitely will be back.

Delicious food and excellent friendly service! Our family of 6 visited Timber Charlie's in Newberry, MI on July 6, 2022 for dinner. All food we ordered was delicious and service by Kayla was efficient, friendly, and attentive. Appetizers: Cheese curds - can't stop on these! Pickle Fries - interesting! Onion Rings - these were giant rings :) Mains - all great! : Grass Fed "Wagyu" Beef steak with mushrooms and sauteed onions - perfectly done and delicious! Wild Caught Whitefish Dinner Beef Taco Salad Beef Tenderloin Tip Dinner Grilled Chicken Salad with avocado Steaks were done exactly as ordered, wee juicy and soft. Fish was done perfectly and was fresh and juicy. Thank you Kayla for the great service and Timber Charlie's kitchen for delicious flavorful food! We highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the vicinity! P.s. Try to make a reservation as the place was packed and most people entering had a reservation. We were lucky to get seated in 25 min without reservation.

My fiancé and I stopped here for lunch after visiting Oswald’s Bear Ranch. ❤️ the service was amazing! The food was great! My fiancé loved his Paul Bunion sandwich. I liked my nachos, but if you order them, I recommend asking for extra cheese as there wasn’t much resorting to most of my toppings falling off the chips 😅 they were still really good none-the-less!

This place was really cool on the inside. There are lots of things to look at, and it has a really nice bar. The food came out quickly. Our server was very polite and was on top of keeping our drinks refilled. Food was very good my whitefish dinner was one of the best I've had so far. The sides were amazing. Pickle fries were top notch. We will be back to try other menus items and some of the drinks as we come through this area often.

Feels like the only place in town open for dinner in the middle of winter. Service was really good! I had a pulled pork sandwich which was outstanding. My friend got perch and he said it was good.

Down to earth restaurant with good food and friendly service. Perfect for filling our bellies before hiking at Tahquamenon Falls State Park! Definitely food choices for one’s inner Yooper 😊 The cheese curds were awesome! The macaroni & cheese tasted much better after I let it sit, cool, and the sauce thickened a bit, but I prefer my homemade Mac in all honesty. The pastie alone was a bit bland, the shell soft and thin, but the meat was very tender and adding the gravy was definitely key to it hitting a positive note on my taste buds! I always try my pastie alone before going for the gravy though. We will definitely return to try more options from the menu!

Was not very impressed with the food, I was excited to try this place because of the fish.. which did have a good flavor but it was mostly breading and the fish was very fatty with a slimy texture which was off putting. Not even sure what kind of fish it was since it’s not listed on the menu under “fish n chips” the coleslaw had a pungent taste which I couldn’t place. Mac & cheese was okay ( mostly cheese with a few noodles) and tarter sauce was mostly mayo with not much flavor. However, the shrimp as well as the mashed potatoes & gravy were good.

Quality restaurant that has no business being as good as it is! Great all-Michigan-brewery beer selection on tap. Food is well above average. Buddy and I visited here two nights on a row and tried several meal options - beef tenderloin tips, shaved ribeye sandwich, smoked pork nachos, french onion soup, and a wet burrito. All were quickly prepared and served hot and delicious. We also tried their appetizer platter which basically could have been meal for two on its own. We were also the knuckleheads that showed up 30 minutes before closing, and the staff welcomed us and was just generally wonderful. Quite a gem!

One lost weekend we stumbled into Timber Charlie's late at night, half hour before close, to be greeted by Roxy the bartender. She was amazing, the drinks are fantastic, the food is absolutely fantastic. We were the last people to leave that night, and the first to show up in the morning for breakfast. Not a place to miss if you ever are out this way. The giant deep fried pretzel is something I will never forget.

A quaint little establishment with exotic decor. The food was good and it's a great place to sit and look at the boats.

Got the St. Louis style smoked ribs. Nice flavor and tender except for edges were a bit hard and dry. Wife had the BBQ pork sandwich, it was HUGE! She enjoyed that but the steak fries were more like Jo-Jo's. She wasn't a huge fan. Great atmosphere, friendly service, clean place. I would definitely go back and try more off an awesome menu.

We went in and had to wait for 15 or 20 minutes! Figured the food was good! Everyone was there! Friendly service and even got some good clean jokes! And ate there and took take out so we could eat dinner later! ❤️❤️

Zellar's Village Inn is a modest hotel with basic accommodations, an indoor pool, and a hot tub. The attached restaurant received rave reviews for its friendly staff and delicious homemade meals. Despite limited hours due to staffing issues, visitors highly recommend arriving early to enjoy the fantastic food. Although the bar is no longer open, guests reminisce about their enjoyable dining experiences at this charming country spot.
We didn't stay at the Inn, we just had breakfast at the restaurant which is attached to the inn. When we arrived at this small, unassuming restaurant we weren't sure what to expect, as there were no other cars and there was no one else in the restaurant. Well, it didn't take long to win our hearts. Our waitress couldn't have been friendlier, the food was out of this world, and by the time we left an hour later the place was almost packed. I would definitely recommend getting there early. You need to try this awesome little diamond in the rough, you won't regret it!

We did not stay at the Inn, however, the restaurant was amazing!! We enjoyed breakfast and dinner. The food was amazing homemade meals and the staff couldn't be beat!

I recently had the misfortune of dining at Zellar's Village Inn in Newberry, Michigan, and it pains me to say that it was a thoroughly disappointing experience. From start to finish, the entire meal was marred by subpar service, lackluster food, and an overall atmosphere that left much to be desired. First and foremost, the service was slow and inattentive. It seemed as though the staff were more preoccupied with chatting amongst themselves than actually attending to the needs of the customers. Our server appeared disinterested and took forever to bring us our drinks, let alone take our orders. As for the food, it was nothing short of underwhelming. The menu boasted of hearty, home-cooked meals, but what arrived at our table was bland and uninspired. The ingredients seemed lackluster and poorly sourced, leaving us questioning the freshness of what we were eating. Portions were also surprisingly small for the price we paid, making the whole dining experience feel like a rip-off. The atmosphere of the restaurant didn't help salvage the experience either. The interior felt outdated and dingy, with dim lighting that only served to highlight the lack of cleanliness. It's clear that little effort has been made to create a welcoming or inviting ambiance for diners. In conclusion, Zellar's Village Inn in Newberry, Michigan, left much to be desired. From the sluggish service to the lackluster food and dreary atmosphere, it's safe to say that I won't be returning anytime soon. Save yourself the disappointment and dine elsewhere.

Staff were excellent. Food was hot and Delicious. It was the wait that earned a loss of 2 stars. We waited nearly 2 hours for our meal to be served. While watching multiple families come in after and get served before. We were quiet, polite and just waited. Almost said something when a family of nearly 20 came in an hour after we had placed an order. They were served before we were. Staff were apologetic and the lady stayed on top. Maybe one day ill give them a second chance.

Went there for dinner August 19, 2023. Ordered a cheeseburger. Took one bite and it was raw. Please note that I like a medium cooked hamburger but this burger was charred on outside and completely raw on the inside. I informed waitress and she took the hamburger off my plate and took it back to kitchen. After 5 minutes she brought it back and it was the same hamburger! You can imagine what this hamburger looked like, ketchup and mustard were on that burger so they removed this partially eaten hamburger and placed it back on the grill!!! Definitely a health department violation. We went to this restaurant after reading all the positive reviews. Those reviews are definitely suspect.

We were in the restaurant only. Food was great. Corned beef hash for us. Fast service. Engaging servers. Kid friendly. Vegetarian options. Plenty of parking.

Great food!! My husband were on a little road trip and stumbled upon this little gem and we are so glad we did! It was the cutest little country spot with the nicest people and the best food! My husband got an omelet and I got a breakfast skillet with corned beef and it was fantastic! And then we wanted to try their biscuits and gravy and it was fantastic! One of the best we have had! The staff was all very nice and on it! It was overall a great place and we will be back! And will definitely be recommending this place!

We've only eaten at the restaurant. Stop when we go to Newberry for groceries. Like to support locally owned business.

Won't be back after today's service. Took ten minutes just to get our drink order taken, then we weren't checked on at all after we got our food, at all, we had to go ask for our check. Our waitress was sitting with her family or friends at another table. Too bad because the food was good. I usually don't even write reviews but it's too expensive to eat out to get service that bad.

Pickelman's Pantry offers delicious food, although some customers have noted that the service can be a bit slow. Despite this, many patrons express a willingness to return for another dining experience.
I had great service and good food. Having celiac's and being gluten sensitive the cook fixed my breakfast in clean pans to avoid cross contamination. The wait staff was fantastic, never letting my coffee get cold and seeing to all our small parties needs. I would recommend this stop to anyone.
Larry Crofoot — Google review
Horrible. Absolutely disgusting with horrible service. I wish I could post negative stars. This is a picture of the "big Mac" or great Mac or something like that. Nasty. I also ordered the jalapeno poppers. Gross. Unbelievable. Seriously stay away from this place. I asked the server what the "break away beef" was only to be answered by a swift " I don't know!". Now I will say that I walked in off the street and asked for a menu. I ordered from the person who would generally be taking the money after a dine in service. So maybe knowing details of the menu wasn't her job, but either way, she wasn't about to go ask anyone. Despite this, I was starving and it was my birthday so I said screw it and ordered the sandwich. The pictures show the green tinted meat. But look at the poppers too. They were deep fried to a frazzle. No taste or cream cheese left on them. The whole dish was so gross. Seriously, avoid the Pickelman's Pantry all together. These people have some serious work to do. Heinous on all levels.

Wait staff sucks. Service is slow. If you walk in and there are more than 5 people here, turn around. We waited 10 minutes or longer just for the "waitress" to bring us a menu. She was an older woman, gray hair who seemed more concerned with standing at the till then helping us. There are 11 people here besides me and we are all getting our own menus. Waitress keeps having to ask how many waters everyone wants. There's a crackhead looking "lady" bussing tables who is in her sweat pants. People are asking her to wipe down their tables. Our waitress came back over to the table 20 minutes after taking our order to ask us what we ordered. So much wrong with this service. I ordered a "vegetarian omelet " which came with about 2 tomatoes and a full pepper in it. Weird. Oh, and my food also came with an added bonus of an added eyelash as you'll see in the photo. Yum We won't even get into how their sign has their name spelled 2 different ways. I'd venture to guess that Mr. Pickelman didn't see how business looking like this..

This place is pretty cool. They have tons of food on their menu. From a burger to a sandwich to Spaghetti to breakfast. I really enjoyed the little salad bar they had going on as well. The service was really good and I would definitely come back. But I noticed that there's a lot of meth heads working there and lived around there. That's the only downfall. It's pretty sketchy. But I guess in a small town people get bored and all they do is do drugs and drink.
Darline McHarless — Google review
We had excellent breakfast meal. I love their hashbrowns, cooked perfectly - crispy on the outside and soft inside. The toasts were thick and generously buttered. The bacon strips were cooked just right, not too crispy or not too soft. I would come back here again.

Our group of 4 went to Pickelman's for dinner on our first night of camping in Newberry. The restaurant wasn't very busy and there were 2 waitresses on staff. We waited 15 minutes just to have our drink order taken and we ordered our food at the same time. It took another 15 minutes to get our drinks from the other waitress. Our waitress didn't acknowledge us again until we finally asked her for refills. We waited an hour for food, without the waitress checking in even once to say sorry for the wait, and finally we paid for our drinks and left. We also watched as she ignored other tables, and appeared to only handle one task at a time. I can't say if the food is good, but the service was awful. We went to Joshua James Bar and Grill afterwards and the service and food was amazing there.

Seder's Pizza is a cozy spot that offers a variety of delicious dishes, including the Hiawatha Traditional Pastie and mouthwatering pizzas. The traditional home-cooked meal left one visitor feeling nostalgic, while another praised the brick oven for creating some of the best pizza they've ever had. The friendly staff and fresh, tasty food make it a great stop for a quick bite or to pick up food for a picnic or campfire.
The stinky sticks were amazing! So much parmesean cheese and garlic butter--yum! Pizza has great crust. Staff is super friendly. Great stop in Newberry for lunch or dinner!

Stopped in for lunch and had a ham, pineapple, and candied jalapeno pizza with a side of "stinky sticks". They were both amazing and the service we had was great.

We stopped here on our motorcycle trip around lake Superior. They had several pizzas to choose from. We had a thin crust four topping. It was excellent. We wished we could of tried more but being on our motorcycle had no way to carry any leftovers.

Seders has amazing pizza and delicious sandwiches and soups. The food is always fresh and tasty and the owners do a great job of changing up the menus with a great variety of soups, pizza specials and tasty desserts. This is a great stop to pick up food for a picnic, for a night around the campfire, or for a tasty dinner while on vacation or while just needing a break from cooking.

Real fire brick oven!! Stopped in hungry and 10 minutes before closing. The owner was so nice and friendly. Takes about 10 minutes to make a pizza in her hand built oven. Wonderful pizza and crust. The decor is very cool and clean. Highly recommend.

Very good wood fired brick oven pizza. We will definitely stop there on our next trip to Newberry.
Lloyd Strait — Google review
Stopped in for three to five slices and they pointed out a whole pie was less experience; it did go to waste. Different style than what we have in the Chicago area, but that is the fun aspect of pizza - regional variations. Looked like a nice place and sorry we did not get to enjoy it a second time.
Chas Raleigh — Google review
My cousin and I had supper at Seder’s a few hours ago, and it was a great experience. I had the Hiawatha Traditional Pastie, and it was good and hearty. I hadn’t had a good traditional home cooked meat and potatoes meal for years, and I felt like I was eating one of my mom’s dishes. My cousin really enjoyed his dish as well. Ashley was genuinely friendly, down-to-earth, and made us feel right at home. We really appreciated her service, as well as the overall real hospitality we saw at Seder’s. At one point, a large group came in, and a regular moved to a different table to enable the group to sit together - a real gentleman. We really enjoyed our time at Seder’s!

Best pizza I've had in a long time and the best bread! Cozy and wonderful staff. Will go every time I'm in the area.

We did enjoy our pizza. The price was a little high but it was still good. What it didn't like is the menu says $1.30 per topping but it charges a dollar fifty.

Pizza was colder when arrived to hotel due to driver supposedly calling us but we never got called at all. Then when I call restaurant they were rude. Won’t order from here again when we come to up to visit. Oh and cheese barely melted on our stinky sticks
Brianna Fitzgerald — Google review
One of the best pizzas I’ve had in my life. Maybe the absolute best, overall. Don’t sleep in the pickle pizza or the candied jalapeños, but the brick oven was a huge part of it. Everything from the sauces to the dough to the pleasant atmosphere from the staff made this place amazing. If you’re in the area, even if you’re not exactly hungry for pizza, do yourself a favor and get one from here, anyways.

Pizza delivery
Pizza Hut is a well-known chain that offers delivery, carry-out, and dine-in options for pizza, wings, and pasta along with sides and desserts. It's a popular choice for those looking to enjoy a satisfying meal. Customers have praised the staff for their kindness and helpfulness even during late hours. The restaurant has been described as a welcome sight in remote areas, offering hot and filling pizzas.
Everyone was amazing food was exceptional the service was amazing. I would have pictures but I ate all the food you know I'm greedy

Ordered pizza, Alfredo, 2 orders of wings and dessert to get back home and find out I’m missing the pizza and Alfredo! Called to have them deliver it and they refused! Only thing they can do is give an in store credit, which I don’t want, and refuses to give money back because the manager on duty can’t do that. I must call the following day to speak to a different manager in order to proceed! This place is a joke!
oliver hilliard — Google review
If I could I would give zero stars. When we arr8ved we were the only ones there and took forever for our drinks to come as we watched several employees standing around. A certain kind of pasta was ordered and they brought the wrong one to the table. They had to be asked for refills when the glass was clearly empty. Their bathroom was absolutely disgusting. They do not carry the kind of to go containers that every other pizza hut location carries which left us without lids for some of our food. The wait staff was either not knowledgeable or just didn't care to do their job well. It was an unfortunate experience overall and will not be suggesting this location to anyone.

Pizza Hut was a welcome sight in the far north of Michigan’s upper peninsula at 9pm last night! The humanity gets a little thin on some of these stretches of road and it felt lucky to find a restaurant after a long day on the road adventuring through taquamanon state park! The staff was very kind and helpful even at the late hour. The pizza was hot and filling. WE ordered a large with two topping scenarios, but they were out of large crusts…so they delivered 2 mediums to our table for the price of the large It’s not fancy, but it’s reliable and friendly!
Aj Sue — Google review
We ordered a double order of bread sticks and they were not cut! We are in a hotel and had no knife to cut ourselves! The cheese sticks had no marinara sauce. The Buffalo wings were inky half covered in mild Buffalo sauce. Over all tasted good but just very sloppy prep. We paid full price for a job 3/4 of the way done! Maybe they ate short staffed and had a lot of orders. We were the only ones there at the time picking up.

Amazing restaurant. The food was great, staff were amazing and friendly. Food came out fast, and tasted so good. I highly recommend this location
Ciarah Winterhalt — Google review
We each ordered a personal size, thin and crispy, pepperoni pizza. Isabell the waitress didn’t know the cost of any additional ingredients such as onions or peppers so we just ordered the pepperoni. One bite in and it is not thin and crispy! It has a thick crust. I’m a diabetic and a thin and crispy crust to a pan pizza makes a huge difference. I pointed out that I had ordered a thin and crispy crust. She said that the personal sized pizza does not come in thin and crispy. Had she told us when we ordered, we could have ordered a thin and crispy medium pizza. The pizza was very good but very unhappy with the waitress Isabell! If she doesn’t know something, she needs to ask the more experienced.

If I could give zero I would. I had to wait a couple days to write this as otherwise it would have been an even worse review. When we arrived we were told to seat ourselves, which is fine but this is where things went downhill. Took the waitress 25 minutes to come to our table to even see if we had ordered yet. We let her know that we had not. She went and got paper menus for us that were all food stained and not complete. We asked "do you still make this, do you still make that" with a "YEAH!!!!!" she answer. We ordered a medium hand tossed that was as thin as crispy and pan that was like hand tossed. On a Supreme there was 1, yes 1, mushroom. The taco pizza had sausage, not burger and I asked 2, once when ordered and once when delivered for salsa and never got it. The waitress never came back to see how we were or even to ask if we wanted/needed drink refills. We waited half hour for our bill after trying multiple times to get the girls attention, it was like they had blinders on. If I had read the reviews beforehand we would have just ate at McDonald's. Owner/Management, IMO, needs to educate/retrain their wait staff. We will never be going to this location again
Kelly Emmons — Google review
Horrible service. Granted, there was a large party there and we were told that it may be at least 20 minutes before our order was taken, but we decided to take a seat anyway. Big mistake. After 20 minutes the large party had left and the waitress had not even taken our drink orders. One member of our group had to go ask her to do so. She took our drink orders (when I asked her what brands of beer they offered she couldn’t pronounce LaBatt’s) and asked if we were also ready to order our food. I pointed out that she hadn’t brought us any menus. I would like to say that eventually we got our drinks and food so everything was fine, but the thin crust pizza that we ordered was definitely over baked. We concluded that they just didn’t want our business and we will certainly never eat there again. There are other places.

Only pizza place open on Monday. It was very good. They were a little short-handed so service was a bit slow but to be expected. Our server was fantastic and working as hard as she could to take care of all patrons.

This was the worst customer service I’ve had in my 60 years. My family waited to be served or even asked about our drinks. Two families came in after us and were served their drinks and food before the waitress even took our order. I had to call the waitress to come over and take our order. We waited and waited for our food. They did not serve the right amount of wings to us. They didn’t deliver our breadsticks either. We finally got our pizza and still no wings or breadsticks. So I asked to speak with the manager. He completely ignored me until I asked him again I needed to speak with him. Poor poor, poor, customer service. I will be speaking to corporate in this matter. I highly recommend don’t eat at this restaurant. Sincerely Diane. Fife Lake MI

Awful service. They take your order and mess it up. We ordered one vegetarian pizza for our friends, who were strictly following the vegetarian diet, and one veggie pizza order with strictly NO olives. We were all famished after a long drive and had to wait 30 mins for the order. We go back in and check our order only to find the pizza loaded with olives. We were upset, but it was almost closing time. We didn't want to trouble them, and we were hungry. But we did notify the cashier. We didn't check the other pizza and drive almost an hour to our home. Opens the box only to discover it is filled with pepperonis. Utterly disappointing service.
