Yulong Snow Mountain, located in Lijiang City, is a 5A-level national scenic spot and the southernmost Daxue Mountain in the Northern Hemisphere. It is part of the Yulong Mountain Range and boasts the highest peak, Shanzidou, at 5,596 meters. The area covers 960 square kilometers and offers breathtaking views of snow-covered peaks.
A great giant mountain with amazing view. You might be shocked by all these breathtaking landscape. Careful, you might feel dizzy due to the high altitude. Take the cable car to get on the observation point. If you want to reach the highest spot, you need to take a walk to reach it.

This place is so beautiful but can get very crowded over time. Try to arrive early in the morning to avoid long queue. The turquoise color lake provides a scenic landscape for photography. Prepare your own oxygen can before going up there as you might experience high altitude sickness

Absolutely amazing and a must visit place in Lijiang. However, it’s very commercialised and there are many influencers coming here to take pictures rather than just enjoying the amazing views. Didn’t manage to get a ticket to go to the 4680m as the tickets sell out in 1 min. Need to book on WeChat, 8pm the day before.
Seah Jia Hui — Google review
This is simply the most beautiful place in the world. 6/5 stars for sure. A must visit!

Absolutely amazing experience and view. A must visit destination. Although quite difficult to visit alone, you might want to come with a group tour early during sunrise.

Beautiful view over the Jade Dragon 🐉 Snow ❄️ mountain 🏔️ from the bus on our way to Shangri-la
Barefoot Centipede — Google review
The mountain view is great if the weather is good with little fog, personally I think the blue moon valley is prettier (see photos). Very crowded most of the time but crowd management is ok, be prepared to queue at the cable car and shuttle bus station.
Deming — Google review
Very beautiful place to visit. Strongly suggest to hike. It is so beautiful you can see the milk river, snow, snow mountain and some very unique wild flowers live in high altitude. Make sure bring lots of water and wear sun block.

Awesome views of one of the most famous mountains in China. Breathtaking views while experiencing breathlessness. Worth the visit and climb. But altitude sickness is very real so do take precautions.
Kim Kim — Google review
Extremely cold.. below -7° C The oxygen level is low up there, so you need to bring 1 or 2 oxygen tanks... for asthma patients do not worry. Just bring more that 2 is enough, and make sure to keep taking the oxygen when you feel dizziness and take your inhaler pam before going up. Suit up the thermal or heatpack shirt and good winter jacket. The view from cable car is already magnificent ..up the glacier is more wonderful and magnificent ✨️ 😍

I recently visited Yulong Snow Mountain and was captivated by its breathtaking views. The majestic scenery painted a picturesque landscape that left me in awe. However, our experience was dampened as we arrived during a snowfall, restricting access to the higher end of the mountain. Despite the setback, the lower slopes still offered a mesmerizing experience, showcasing the beauty of the snow-covered peaks. The snowfall added a magical touch to the surroundings, creating a serene and tranquil atmosphere. While we couldn't explore the summit due to safety reasons, I appreciate the concern for visitors' well-being. It's essential to check weather conditions before planning a visit to make the most of this stunning destination. Overall, Yulong Snow Mountain is a must-visit for nature enthusiasts, but be mindful of the weather to ensure a more comprehensive exploration of this natural wonder.

Be sure to breathe in plenty of oxygen so you get your blood saturated with oxygen hour ahead of time and before you even get close to the main entrance, or it would be a pity to not make it up to the 4680m viewpoint due to altitude sickness.

玉龙雪山 in direct translation, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is the pride of 云南 Yunnan towering 5,596 meters. Magnificently situated near 丽江 Lijiang, the river flowing from the snow capped mountain gives abundant life to the inhabitants, wildlife, flora and fauna. For foreign visitors, best to go with a tour since the ticketing is really complicated. High altitude sickness and quick changing weather are real. Enjoy the adventure. Best time to visit is during winter when the sky is clear.

A must visit wonder in Yunnan. Visit the place on 22nd Dec Fri with tour guide. The entrance itself at 8am was packed with crowds local & tourists alike. The ropeway to reach the top took about 5mins. This picturesque landscape is mesmerizing with instagram worthy photoshop so it’s hard to find a remote spot to admire the nature because of the crowd.
Boon Leong — Google review
Tallest mountain in Lijiang city, located several miles from the ancient town. Entrance fee are required and advised to buy early. Strong wind up there and the cable cars are fast. Temperature are really low up there suggest to wear thicker. Air is very thin and gets dizzy easily, be sure you have your oxygen ready and fit before hiking up there. Overall a great experience for overseas traveller.

The Old Town of Lijiang is an ancient part of the city that boasts cobblestone streets, streams, bridges, and traditional Naxi houses. It's a serene environment where one can wander through mysterious alleyways filled with dimly lit bars and quaint shops selling snacks and souvenirs. The contrast between the quiet atmosphere here and the bustling nightlife on Sin Street is significant.
Very popular old town district Plenty of food, shops and attractions Even if it could be perceived overly touristic you can still find plenty of typical local specialists in tea 🍵, craftsmen and delicious restaurants Make sure to stroll around the canals in the morning when less crowded and enjoy the night 🌃 life and join the central plaza for the traditional dances
Barefoot Centipede — Google review
A must visit place! I was really impressed with the beauty of the Old Town of Lijiang. The Old Town at night or day has its own beauty. Explore the town at day if you’d love to admire the beauty of quiet time and ancient architecture. To enjoy the hustle and bustle and the culture here, you can visit the town at night. The Old Town of Lijiang comprises three component parts: Dayan Old Town (including the Black Dragon Pond), Baisha and Shuhe housing clusters. Lijiang also possesses an ancient water-supply system of great complexity and ingenuity that still functions effectively today.
Tuyet Mai Dinh Thi — Google review
A beautiful place to walk through during the day. We heard the night life is even better. Tons of bars and restaurants to choose from. Streams of water run along side the buildings.

Very tourism area. Lots of stores and hostels. All the houses are traditional Yunnan styles.

That’s a beautiful traditional Chinese city. I recommend to visit it during the day and night as there are different things to do. Very safe place. December period is best as it is not too cold and it’s outside tourists season. Avoid hotels inside the old city not because they are not good but you may find it difficult to carry your luggage there as it’s going up and down and the roads are not flat. When I was there I stayed at Hotel Indigo Lijiang which is located at the south west entrance of the old city. The hotel was fully renovated, very clean and staff were very helpful and help us organizing our trip to the Dragon Jade Mountain. The first day he offered us tea and we talked for an hour. You can visit the Shizi Mountain from where you’ll see the panorama. They also have beautiful gardens and lots of small traditional shops, rose cakes, tea and coffee. If you love coffee but some beans there as they produce their owns. I recommend staying 2 to 3 nights as it’s enough time visit the old city and the Dragon Jade mountain area.

It's the most beautiful old town I have ever been to. It's an amazing experience immersing myself in hundreds of years of history. The place is clean and well kept. Strolling down the streets you can find good street food, nice souvenir shops. At night, you must not miss the bars along the main street. Also, don't forget to enjoy the great view of the whole town from up the hill.

It's still the best old town in lijiang. Particularly the live music and coffee shops up on the hillside.

Amazing experience visiting this place at night. The colours, the energy. Vibrant and incredibly surreal. It is like having night markets, restaurants, bars and bistros, night clubs all in a same area. So many people, so alive; all framed into an ancient city setting of cobblestone streets, water canals and very old buildings. Overwhelming.
SY Teo — Google review
Clean and fantastic system of waterways and bridges around. However, it's too crowded and noisy, and not as ancient as I expected.
Hang Hoang — Google review
I do not recommend this place for anyone expecting a genuine old town. The whole place is newly built or renovated, full of Disneyland-style stores.
Phongthon Tharachai — Google review
The Old Town of Lijiang 丽江古城 is a well preserved UNESCO World Heritage Site founded in the 12th century AD. It is like a fairyland from the centuries past. The city today is teeming with life as tourism blossomed. Highly recommended staying in this old town for a few days to experience its history and diverse cultures.
Basil Chua — Google review
An absolute magical place, recommend time to spend here is two hours but you could spend the whole day soaking in the culture and historic buildings

Excellent service by 小田and 小杨,the stay here at this tranquil place with super views. Thank you for the wonderful experience. One suggestion will be to have a dedicated area for smokers instead of able to smoke at all common area. Overall a great experience.

I was able to stay in Lijiang for a little under a week in the heart of Old Town. Lijiang's Old Town is an enchanting blend of history and beauty. With its winding cobblestone streets, bridges, and traditional Naxi architecture, the neighborhood feels like a living museum. The town is littered with shops, boasting a diverse array of stores offering souvenirs, textiles, and local delicacies. There are countless dining options where you can savor Yunnan's cuisine while enjoying the picturesque surroundings. Lijiang's Old Town is also a magnet for photographers and tourists alike, making it crowded during most of the day. At night, you’ll see lots of people dressed up in traditional attire for photoshoots. Getting lost in the Old Town streets is part of the adventure and allows for hours of exploration!

Black Dragon Pool, also known as Heilongtan, is a significant water source in Lijiang. It originates from the Yulong Snow Mountain and supplies the town through a network of canals and channels. The pool's streams reach every corner of the town, nurturing willow trees and over 350 unique bridges. This tranquil spot offers a refreshing escape from city life, with views of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and a Buddhist temple on site.
You need a guide to explain the history of this place. Was there 22.12 winter time Nice picturesque setting with Yulong snow mountain in the background. There is a elephant shade hill to hike if you have hours to spare. Btw, in the pool, there are local breed fresh water salmons. We did try it in nearby restaurant which am served in hot pot & sashimi style

Fee is 50 yuan which I find it kinda expensive. However, kid under 12 and elderly over 60 got free entry. To pay for ticket, you must have WeChat only. Nice garden and many spots to take nice photos. Con is toilet.
Yui Lawan — Google review
Before sunset in winter season, the trees were looked warm and earthy. The place wasn’t so crowded that time as tourists likely visit at noon. We walked around, from the gate to small garden where people play games and sit, and we follow the pool and found a spot to take pictures that frame the beauty of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, marble bridge, and the pool in one. Very pretty. If you’re in Lijiang and craving for a place to calm you mind and soul, to see a magical evening as the sun set and time stop just to appreciate your life, come to Black Dragon Pool around 4 PM.
Justin Larissa — Google review
Entrance was free during the non-tourist season. Great walk around and can hike up the mountain for pictures. You can also see the Yulong mountain in the distance.

Good place to visit if you come to Lijiang. But you have to buy quite expensive ticket to enter the park. You should ask the stuff if every building in the park is available or not, because the last time I came there, the most beautiful building is closed.

Very relaxing and great view of the snow dragon mountain (if you are lucky with the weather). Some elderly play traditional instruments and sing songs inside the pagodas - we enjoyed sitting with them and slurping our tea. If you are in the mood for a little hike, elephant hill and its many stairs can be found easily (signs will guide you to it). Another thing we liked a lot was the museum at the North Gate. It is very informative (Chinese and English) and free of charge. The park is a bit pricey, 80 RMB for one month.
Kerstin Baumgaertel — Google review
It was really great to climb the nearby hill (Xiangshan, or Elephant Hill), though it was so steep and full of stairs that even my fit self had to take a few breaks! The pools are beautiful too.

Blue Moon Valley is a popular destination known for its stunning mountain views, four lakes and a vivid blue river that provide an ideal location for photography enthusiasts. Many couples visit the valley to take wedding photos, inspired by the legends about young lovers in the area. The valley offers some scenic trails along the water but visitors can also explore easily by hopping on and off green golf carts. The scenery is truly breathtaking especially when illuminated by sunlight, making it appear like a magical place with enchanting waters.
It's a magical place, especially when the sun is shining. Then the water looks enchanted. Best way to get there is by mini bus.
Fr?ulein Barbara — Google review
Blue Moon Valley, located at the foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, was formed by the Baishui River melted from the snow mountain. It has clear turquoise blue colors and reflects the beautiful Yulong Snow Mountain. You should walk around the valley and admire the scenery along the way instead of taking the electric car after getting here by bus. However, there are so many visitors that it is difficult to take scenic shots.
Tuyet Mai Dinh Thi — Google review
Basically you will see everyone got the similar photos with similar views here. It is really not very big. But with the mirroring image of the Yulong Snow mountain over the lake, it is already worth it to witness it by yourself. It is pricey but yotur just have to embrace the heavenly view here.

Beautiful scenic stop enroute to the Jade Dragon Mountains (which paled in comparison i feel). The waterfalls, and the lake all made for a really good place to stop by and relax. That scenery is just beautiful!

Beauful lakes and setting. Only problem was the confusing transit system.

The scenery was amazing. You know why it's called blue moon straight away. We saw a lot of couples taking photos in their wedding gown.

Blue Moon Valley is worth the trip. Fantastic views of the Blue to turquoise lakes, the waterfalls with the spectacular background of the snow capped mountains 🏔. Ensure you take a stroll along the lakes to enjoy the unique scenery.

Beautiful and stunning! The water looks very clean and blue. The best tourist attraction in Lijiang. You can see Yulong Snow Mountain from this valley, sometimes, snowflakes fall down, and it looks more romantic.
Béo — Google review
Views of the mountains here are excellent, the lake itself is ok , but ultimately a built up tourist attraction with nothing of natural beauty itself . But if you’re doing the cable car then it’s worth a visit just to get an alternative view of the mountains
Chris Sanderson — Google review
Lovely series of lakes cascading from one onto the next. Marvelous view of the waterfalls and surrounding hills. The water is beautiful in turquoise in some lake and azure sky in the higher lakes. The area is also well done up with soft and hard landscaping. There are well made pathways and platforms making the areas around the lakes very accessible. You could spend half a day here if you wish to explore fully. Enjoyed my visit here.
SY Teo — Google review
Breathtaking scenery. The valley side, the lake side and the mountain side are all matched together to refresh ourselves and take beautiful photos.
Alex Nguyen — Google review
Beautiful site, with stunning views of the snow mountain and valley. If you want to go, it’s about 20 minutes from Lijiang to the tourist centre. From there you leave your car and take a bus up to the valley. The tourist centre is very new and has a number of other sites to choose from. On a side note, unless you are asthmatic or have some other breathing condition DON’T buy the bottled oxygen. It’s a waste of money and more importantly completely pointless. There is no strenuous hiking at the site and the empty bottles are seen littered everywhere. Overall this is a must see spot ❤️
robin white — Google review
This is one of the main attractions of Lijiang, and let me tell you it's worth it! Never have I ever seen such a wonderful landscape. Take your passport with you! As soon as you arrive, a bus will take you to the Blue Lagoon, some buses take you to the lagoons and back to the base. There are places at the base to have coffee, grab snacks, or have lunch. The entrance ticket to the mountain and Blue Lagoon is ¥100. There are ticket counters but if you talk with your hotel they would probably arrange it for you (transport, oxygen, the ticket to the place, and ticket to the cable car that takes you up the mountain, it’s around ¥318). If you prefer to go on your own from the ancient city you can take the bus 101 (¥15, you can pay by QR or cash keep), keep In mind they don’t have change, so you should give them the right amount) but I would definitely recommend booking the tickets in advance.

(23/03/2024) Spectacular scenic area after back from mountain don’t miss this place!
Boy Anupong — Google review
It’s a beautiful place for photo ops. That’s what most people really come for. On this Friday we probably saw 20 wedding photo shoots. There are some legends about young couples and this valley so many come just for that. There are some trails along the water but never saw a map so can’t tell you how far they take you. Most people just hop on and off the green golf carts to take them to the next photo opp. Very easy to explore.

Nice place and a lot of Photo Booths there. Crowded but the area is worth to witness the snow mountain with water fall and some natural forest. good for nature lovers. you can even observe some girls wearing the traditional costumes and taking photos.
