Tiger Leaping Gorge is an impressive natural canyon, considered as one of the deepest worldwide. It features scenic trails and river overlooks for visitors to enjoy. The area is surrounded by magnificent snowcapped mountains with beautiful wildflower meadows, but some paths can be dangerous due to rockfall and erosion. For thrill-seekers, there's an adrenaline-pumping Sky Ladder experience that includes narrow walkways on steep cliffsides leading towards certain danger.
A powerful River that you can strongly feel the Mother Nature. It will be a hiking trip here. If you’re lazy, there is also the elevator choice.

Beautiful scenery. Many spots to take beautiful pictures. As we’re travelling with elderly and young children, we bought the tickets for the escalator ride down and up. Recommend you buy the enterance ticket and the escalator ticket in advance. Remember to keep your escalator tickets with you for the ride back up. We were visiting in Dec, it was blimey cold with the wind chill factor up. Be sure to be warmly dressed if you’re visiting during the winter months.

I spent 4 days hiking through here in 2012 and highly recommend it. Plenty of little homestay/hostels to stay in with resonably priced food and beverage. The hike was extremely interesting with so many different local habitates to experience along the way. Very mountainous terraine with deep valleys and very fast flowing rivers. Fortunately the hiking is quite flat as you do not need to cross any large hills.

A great little hike that can be done over a few days or a sa 1 day hike down to the river (Tiger Leaping Gorge). Use the 'sky ladder' when you come back up! We visited the river when it was 'calm' and it was still so powerful, god knows what it would be like when in spate? A spectacular area to visit and a must when in the region.

I did the Tiger Leaping Gorge upper trail. There are locals that sell drinks and fruits everywhere along the trail. The trail is fine till the Half-way inn, which is way past halfway of the trail. I would take the shuttle bus to Tina's guest house if you aren't experienced. Because after the Halfway inn the descending begins. The paths are very narrow, there lots of mountain goats and there are no rails that protect you from falling. Also there are loose stones and it's very slippery. At one point you have to cross a stream of water which is really dangerous, which comes from the waterfall shown in the map. I would recommend this trail to experienced hikers. However the view was beautiful, even though I was mostly focussed on not falling to my death. It took me 8 hours to finish this trail and I took quite a lot of breaks.

Simply breathtaking. We visited on a sunny afternoon and there are many spots for good photos. We bought the escalator ticket in advanced and things were comfortable.

Beautiful snowcapped mountains to stare in awe of, while hiking through wildflower dotted meadows, and over precarious cliffsides. Extra care must be taken while hiking here, as some passes have become dangerous due to rock slides and erosion. The skyladder is just what your inner adrenaline junkie might be seeking, as if some of the narrow walkways aside a steep descent towards certain death aren't already enough. 😅

Already a lot of people at 9am Although it is a rainy day, the view is gorgeous You can pay extra 70RMB for taking the escalator instead of walking stairs (recommended for rainy days) cuz the stairs are a bit slippery

Highly recommend purchasing a ticket for the elevator at Tiger Leaping Gorge for a convenient and worthwhile experience. The views are truly breathtaking, as showcased in my photos and videos. A must-visit for nature enthusiasts!

If you are coming from Shangri la take the 8 am bus to Tiger Leaping Gorge. It will arrive at 12 noon at Tina Guesthouse Bus Station after a few stops to view the gorge. There is a bus that leaves to Lijiang at 2.30 pm and 3.30 pm. Tina's Guesthouse is good for one nights stay if you prefer

It’s rated with AAAA on the rock at the ticket entrance. If you are short of time, just paid 70cny to use the escalator to get to the scenic spot. Opposite across the river, there is a narrow path where the minority tribe used it to transport tea leave to Tibet using the short legged horse 🐎 Just view the posted video

Great hike! I took the long route from Qiaotou and while the first day was challenging, I enjoyed it very much. The second half was a less challenging hike with a big part of the route paved. Upside of this was that I could spend more time admiring the views!

A very interesting spot as the power of the river running through the narrow gorge is incredible. The main viewing area has stairs (or an esculator) down to several viewing platforms, several with glass decks. I did not do the trek which others have reviewed. The viewing area is crowded most days but worth seeing.

Good view on the river, it’s impressive Careful the visit doesn’t take that much time (1h max) Cost 45¥ You can book your bus ticket in Lijiang at the main bus station.

Potatso National Park is situated on a high plateau and boasts an impressive 20% of China's plant species. Despite undergoing rejuvenation work, the park offers stunning views and wildlife. Visitors are advised to arrive early to make the most of their trip and smokers must hand over their lighters or risk hefty fines (designated smoking rooms are available). Taking a leisurely stroll with an informed guide is recommended due to the abundance of nature present.
We visited in December and spent almost 6 hours enjoying ourselves at Potatso National Park. The weather is clear with clusters of snows over everywhere. The natural environment is wonderful. You can feed birds and squirrels with biscuits.

The entry and gateway is not a fair representation on the well maintained majestic natural landscape beyond. The large boulder lookalike ticketing counter is a shocker. The branding has a strong American Ranger feel to it... probably similar to somewhere in Milwaukee. I wished they sold the emblem as collectible stickers. Instead they are too preoccupied selling tebitean spiritual tokens. I've been giggling the while time imagining the park is named Potato 🥔 😐🙃 The bus shuttle brings you around from the large lake to the small one. Quite a good place to chill and relax overall. Easily spend 5 hours of the day here. Bring some nibbles and plenty of water to stay hydrated throughout your hike!

Absolutely a 5-star national park in any scale... especially for China. The white snow and the serenity is incomparable to the buzzing towns or cities in other part of the country.

Pudacuo National Park 普达措国家公园 is about 30 kilometres or half an hour by car from Dukezong 独克宗古镇. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The park is top notched and very well managed. To get around, you will need to hop on the park’s shuttle buses. The buses will take visitors to Shudu Lake 属都湖 and Bita Lake 碧塔海. A leisurely afternoon will take about 3-4 hours stopping by for photography and taking in the natural beauty. We visited during winter, the cold dry wind bites, so proper winter attire is needed to keep warm. Also take note of the 3.600 - 3,700 meters altitude which may affect those sensitive to high altitude sickness - not a laughing matter. We really enjoyed the afternoon soaking in the sunshine, clear sky, and nature’s beauty. A must visit is highly recommended. Foreigners need passports when purchasing tickets. No need to book any private tour, just catch a Didi and you will be there in 30 minutes.

China's first National Park, modelled against America's national park. Could be better, perhaps because we were there during winter and the scenery were not so colourful and spectacular. Scenery is beautiful, main and only prescribed attraction is to walk around the lake, a 3km easy walk where you catch see the alpine landscape.

An amazing park with spectacular views and wildlife. Pity a large portion have been cordoned for rejuvenation work. Go early to enjoy the best of the view. Smokers are reminded to surrender their lighters at the gate or risk heavy fines if they are caught (there are smokers room available). Stroll slowly and if possible, get a knowledgeable guide as there is much nature going on or you may missed the wonder of the park little things. For those worry about the thin oxygen, please bring along the canned oxygen, available for sales at the park. Drone pilots will be happy, drones are allowed at the Shudu Lake.

Don't expect a day trek in a pristine natural park. Expect buses taking you from one point to another. With 2-3km stralls on paved paths full of people taking selfies. Site is still beautiful.

It is renowned as one of the most stunning snow-capped mountains globally and is home to Kawagebo Peak, the highest peak in Yunnan Province and one of the four sacred mountains of Tibetan Buddhism.
