I had an incredible time at Kinniwabi Pines Restaurant. The atmosphere and location are stunning, with a terrace that offers a picturesque view of the river. I had a pleasant conversation with the owner, who was extremely accommodating to our vegetarian dietary preferences. The spring rolls were exceptionally fresh and delicious, while the chickpea potato curry served with freshly made naan bread was delightful. This restaurant is a shining beacon during long road trips, as it boasts an inviting ambiance and friendly staff.
Incredible food! Had the chicken curry with naan and the duck- just amazing. The curry is extremely filling! Dessert was also great! It gets busy so it's a good idea to call ahead for a reservation but well worth the wait!

Can't believe they have Fine Dining Restaurant in a town of 3,000 people. I ate my meal on the patio, which is wheelchair accessible btw, has a breathtaking view of the Kinniwabi River. Food was exceptional. My steak was a tender perfect medium rare. The timing between courses was the perfect amount of time. The indoor dining room has a very charming rustic looking "lodge" to it. Thanks for the great experience.

Absolutely amazing place. Curry with paratha roti is off the charts delicious. If you want to try the best hot sauce on earth, give it a go - but only use a tiny dab, or it will knock you off your feet!

Our "Student of the month" requested the best restaurant in Wawa and we were not disappointed. Location is right on top a hill right outside the town with a beautiful view of the river. The patio overlooks it although it was not open during our visit. The inside of the restaurant was tastefully decorated with all sorts of great antiques and photos from Trinidad. We also didn't have a reservation as our idea was a bit last minute but the staff were very friendly and found space for us. We did have an under 1 year old with us and even though he was teething and a bit fussy the staff and patrons were so accommodating. Our server was so lovely she even held the baby while so his mother could pay some attention to her delicious dinner. Now the food, it was a task just to choose which of the 8 items that made my mouth water I was going to indulge in. I finally chose the perogi and cabbage roll and was not disappointed. Both pieces of the dish were so fresh and we'll prepared. Cabbage rolls were tender. Perogies had a perfect crisp on the outside and tasty cheesy potato filling. Bacon and Onions on deck to finish the beautiful dish. Kinniwabi Pines is a gem and Wawa is better for it. Thanks again KP

I had absolutely lovely dinner here this evening. Seafood fettuccine Alfredo and a bowl of vegetable soup. Hands down the best meal I've ever had in Canada that was not fine dining in Toronto or Montreal (I'm not Canadian but have spent roughly 1 year of my life in Ontario.). I only wish it was still outdoor dining season because the views outside were stunning. I will absolutely eat at Kinniwabi Pines if I'm ever in Wawa again.

I had a wonderful experience at this place . Their ambience and the location is amazing . The terrace overlooks the river . Had a chat with the owner , she is such a nice person , she accommodated all our food needs , since we were vegetarians . Their spring rolls were really fresh and tasty. The chickpea potato curry served with naan bread was so good . I was happy that the naan was freshly made unlike those store brought naans in many restaurants in Canada . Would recommend the place to anyone passing by Wawa .

Amazing meal begins with vegetable soup and fresh bread. Main course of pickle roll. That was delicious.

A shining light of a restaurant during a long road trip. Beautiful, clean and the most lovely staff. Docked a star for lack of gluten free options — my salad with chicken and a drink came to $40 with tip, whereas my friend paid half that. That being said, I would still revisit in a heartbeat.

Found this little gem of a place off of trans-canada highway in Wawa Ontario. Coming in from Guelph Ontario, my husband and I are on our way to Regina, Saskatchewan. Our first overnight stay was at Wawa, and we were looking for places to have dinner at. This little restaurant has little to show for itself on social media and google, which doesn't do justice to the actual ambience, service, and quality of food. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious! I will honestly continue to suggest this place to anyone who's passing by here. Our server was extra kind. We ordered fried perch with side and hot and spicy shrimp with rice and sides. Soup as a starter was complimentary, which was also very tasty! We had a coconut cake to end our dinne, and everything was fresh, delicious, and satisfied our hunger more than any other fast food operation could have ever!

Great food, good service and we shared a table with travellers like us we met in the car park and had a great evening. The bison was a first and cooked perfectly while my wife's cordon blue was excellent as well.

What a pleasant surprise. We came here unintentionally as the original place we were going to eat was closed. The menu is an interesting mix of European style dishes and Chinese/Trinidadian style food, not something I imagined to find in a small town like Wawa. I chose the Lake Superior Pickerel which came with lemon butter, dill potatoes and vegetables. The host suggested it be grilled and it did not disappoint. It was a good size portion and I ate every morsel. Others at the table had the Cabbage Rolls with house-made Perogies, Spicy Baked Pork Trinidad Style, Sweet and Sour Pork and Chicken Curry with Roti made in house. Everything was tasty, big portions and everyone was completely satisfied. Now the downside. Since a lot of the other restaurants were closed it was packed when we got there. At first we got seated outside on the patio which had a lovely view but got chilly as the night progressed. Eventually, we moved inside which was very cosy. The wait for a table, drinks, and food was very long and appetizers weren’t available but if you have the patience and understanding it’s worth it. The host was so friendly and warm. Some of his family’s pictures are on the wall. We discovered a lot of restaurants in Wawa have staffing problems so either they close or are short staffed.

Decided to visit wawa’s fine dining with a beautiful view, visiting all the way from Ottawa. This was the Most disgusting expensive food I’ve ever tasted. Service, was terrible. Unsanitary, Hair was in my food, Dead bugs on windowsill. Greasy, salty, oily. Couldn’t bring myself to eat more than a bite. What a waste of 60$ and hour and a half I waited to get the food.

Perfect stop at the end of the day. We took a room across the road and the motel’s owner highly recommend this place. And everything was true. We were seated outside on the patio which offers a fantastic view. Friendly server, fresh food and reasonable waiting time. We got started with a vegetable soup and a fresh salad. The cabbage roll with perogies were to die for. Freshly made, generous portion and difficult to finish 😉 The Alfredo fettuccine with shrimp was equally good and it had a generous amount of shrimp mixed in. Pasta was very nicely cooked and what was a really nice treat was their bread! We managed to buy a loaf and it was really one of the most delicious breads we had in a long time. I will highly recommend this place, whether is a quick stop of planning for a nice dinner. This place will not disappoint!

Nestled by a river, Best Northern Motel and Restaurant offers cozy rooms and cottages with access to trails. Guests appreciate the clean and comfortable accommodations, with some mentioning early check-in discounts as a pleasant surprise. The exterior exudes charm, resembling a quaint cottage surrounded by greenery. Visitors also praise the accommodating staff for their helpfulness and friendliness. This spot is recommended for those seeking a delightful summer getaway in a beautiful location.
I had a wonderful experience at this motel. Every staff member I encountered, from the valet to the check- in to the cleaning staff were delightful and eager to help! Great Location! Beautiful atmosphere from inside and outside of that part of city. Will definitely recommend to my friends and family. Perfect for summer vacations. Thank You for making our stay more enjoyable.

I wanted to like this place because the restaurant smelled yummy, the gentleman that checked us in was very nice and it was in a great location for us. However, there were 4 or 5 half smoked cigarette butts on the side of the door mat in front of our room when we arrived and they were still there in the morning. We were right beside the staff housekeeping entrance so the house keepers were clearly walking by them as they were cleaning rooms. I cleaned them up after I watched a housekeeper walk right by them. The beds were uncomfortable and the room was very cold when we arrived......and they knew we were coming in advance. I am generally not a complainer, but there are lots of other motels that are providing service at a much higher level that I will go to next time.......and next time I will make sure I read more reviews.

The rooms are very clean and spacious. Love your reminder notes. We returned for their Indian Food and they did not disappoint us. Absolutely delicious. I am new to Indian food and the 2 dishes I have ordered have been amazing. The staff are very friendly and have enjoyed our visits. If you are near Wawa this is a great stop, you will not be disappointed.

I was so exhausted, had to pull over and find a place to sleep for a few hours, and boy am I glad I came here. The awesome bathtub that I'm writing this from was very clean and the water has no odd odors, as well the owner allowed me to check in early with a discount just to be nice! Definitely worth the $105 for a day and night, and I'm very much confused at the bad ratings. The worst of it is the floors could use a sweep but it's perfect otherwise. Keep it up!

All good reviews prior are void. Under new ownership- place is becoming run down and not taken care of in the slightest. Restaurant is shut down, there is no sauna as advertised- that was in the past. Floors felt sticky, faucets and shower head were coming off the wall. Not bad for a place to lay your head- you can tell it use to be better.

Stayed here Oct 25, 2023. Needed a good, inexpensive place to stay for the night. This motel is about 5-6 minutes outside of Wawa. We were very pleasantly surprised. Good rate ($95), clean room, albeit a bit cool upon arrival as heat had been turned down, but had all amenities one would need - microwave, fridge, coffee maker, clean towels. Staff was super helpful, and my wife and I opted to try the on-site restaurant which served up some amazing East Indian cuisine (Samosas, Chicken Biryani, and Mixed Vegetable Curry). Rooms had keypads in the door knobs for access which could be difficult for those visually impaired, or with mobility issues to be able to bend over to read the small numbers. Not sure about the security of using codes either as I doubt they are reprogrammed for every guest... Also, could use hangers in the room. All areas of motel we saw were clean and well kept. Overall, would not hesitate to stay here again.

Pretty outdated rooms and wifi wasn’t bad. But for a cheap room for one night it wasn’t bad. Im glad I brought my own duvet and pillow generally since the bedding was a little dirty.

We were just passing through Wawa and needed a place for one night. We found the ideal spot here! Very quaint, charming look from the exterior, as well as trees and plantings giving it a cottage feel. We arrived several hours before check in, but the staff were very accommodating, helpful and got our room ready for us right away. The room was simple, but clean, comfortable with all the essentials required. There was lots of room to walk our dog away from traffic. The best part was the restaurant with delicious Indian food! I can’t wait to stay there another time if only to taste other items on the menu.
T Jajbhay — Google review
Could use some updating/fixing for sure. The tub faucet was not secured, and the mini fridge made this very loud humming noise every half hour or so waking me up until I finally just unplugged it. I found the traffic to be a bit loud at night as well, so bring earplugs if you stay here. Room was fairly clean. Picked this place as it was dog friendly.

The Viking Restaurant in Wawa is a hidden treasure. The server, Debbie, was exceptional with her delightful personality, great sense of humor, and enjoyable company. The food was delectable and plentiful. The halibut was the finest I've ever tasted, while Mike's House Burger boasted a generous array of ingredients that made it truly substantial. Our waitress displayed professionalism, efficiency, and kindness throughout our visit.
Best Halibut I've ever had, and Mike's House Burger had everything on it, it was huge! Our waitress was professional and prompt and very friendly. Id come again.

We were traveling on the road from Thunder Bay to Sault St. Marie on September 23rd, 2021, and stopped here in Wawa to get food. We ordered a vegetarian pizza, a Greek pizza and some kind of cheesecake. My mother advised that we don't eat meat when ordering the pizzas and was not told the Greek pizza had pepperoni. The vegetarian pizza and cheesecake were good. When we pointed out the pepperoni on the Greek pizza, they agreed to make a new pizza. We waited an extra 30 minutes and we were given a close to burnt pizza (photo attached). All in all, could have been a better experience.

Stopped in Wawa at the Outdoorsman for a night; and this place is a couple doors down. It had good reviews and hence my reason for trying it out. I ordered their house burger with fries and gravy and a slice of apple pie to take back to the motel. The burger was tasty but fell apart easily. Seemed like the service was the main issue. The staff wasn’t rude or anything, but they didn’t get the fries and gravy out until AFTER I was done eating the burger. Not really fun to eat the appetizers after the main course. The apple pie was pretty solid.

Chili on special was good and hearty with a melted cheese topping. Beer only OK with only 1 lager on draft from a somewhat local brewery. Not a place for foodies. Back again in 2021. Maybe the same brewery? This time having a corned beef sandwich. Will add that it is a good value. And the beer is ok. Added a STAR. Well … back yet again in 2022. This time from east to west on the trans Canada hwy. Same menu, same beer. The basic chicken burger is good. Nice piece that isn’t breaded. Shout out to the Outdoorsman motel next door. Great place.
Michael Ayukawa — Google review
They have pretty decent reviews so we stopped in while passing though Wawa. The place was packed, so to be fair, why change anything. The portions are ginormous, so if you’re just looking to fill up, you might like it here. The two servers were doing the best that they could considering there should have been at least six of them for the number of people in the place. they were having to do it all, take orders, deliver dishes, and cash out customers. I ordered a veal cutlet with a side of fettuccine Alfredo, while the cutlet was fine, but certainly not memorable. the Alfredo sauce was awful. No dairy ever came near this sauce. Clearly it was some powder mixed with water with the obvious results. while there was enough fettuccine to feed a family of six, if it’s not edible then what’s the point.

Disappointed people that came in after us were seated before us. They walked in and didn’t have any reservations they said. Had burgers and fish special. Nothing great about the taste or presentation.

During a visit to Lake Superior, we made a pit stop at The Embassy Restaurant with the intention of supporting the local community. My partner indulged in their exceptional clubhouse sandwich, which was served on their delectable homemade bread. Meanwhile, I enjoyed a delicious BLT. The food was not only tasty but also generously portioned and reasonably priced. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the sandwiches were made using fresh, high-quality ingredients on their own homemade bread.
Super friendly people. Tasty sandwiches with fresh quality ingredients on homemade bread! Cole slaw was amazing!

Excellent coffee, friendly efficient staff, big washrooms, and I had the pea meal special: hit the spot! Thank you! Sure beats Timmies who we've hit twice on this trip but managed to screw up our orders both times, sadly.
Suzymay Blackfly — Google review
Very meh. Food and coffee was plentiful. Wait staff and atmosphere friendly. Either the flour was old or the bread stored poorly as it had a funky after-taste that was not good. Potatoes had no color and would not have had any flavor if it weren't for the onions that you have to pay extra for.
Lori Fautch — Google review
I ordered a Denver omelet with toast. An omelet came big enough for two people, and the toast was home made. Amazing! Order it with motz, you won’t be disappointed. The food was perfect. Service was fast and friendly even though they were struggling to keep up. A great experience.
Chris Heffel — Google review
We took a day trip to Wawa and on the way home my husband was ready to stop for Timmies coffee and a bagel but I talked him into checking this place out for all day breakfast just a little after lunch time. Lucky for us we arrived well before their off-season closing time of 2pm. He had the buttermilk pancakes with mini sausages (his usual go-to diner food) and I had 3 eggs sunny-side-up with bacon, french fries and their toasted homemade white bread (bac/eggs are my go-to). We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals, and the service was terrific, very friendly staff! They are currently (as of the date of this review) adhering to Ontario COVID safety protocols of requiring entering patrons to wear a mask providing proof of full vaccination prior to being seated and served (diner seating is separated as well). A contact sign-in sheet is also at the entry to be filled in as an extra precaution.

Restaurant
The Wawa Goose Bar & Grill has a rustic ambience, resembling a hunting lodge, with an abundance of mounted game on the walls and antler chandeliers. However, this atmosphere was slightly compromised by the presence of several large screens, although their importance is acknowledged. The breakfast offered fair quality food that was ample and satisfying. The pancakes were light and fluffy, but the hollandaise sauce lacked flavor and the coffee was somewhat weak.
Best restaurant in the area! Newly renovated with a robust menu with lots of delicious options at great prices. The super friendly staff is the cherry on top which allows for the perfect dining experience in Wawa. When driving on Hwy 17 turn right when you see the big goose and then keep going until you see the second goose on the left and you’ll end up at this hidden gem. Be sure to try their Fish Bowl drinks, not to be missed!!
Paulina P. — Google review
Hunting lodge feel with lots of mounted game on the walls and antler chandeliers. This atmosphere was slightly marred by the several large screens mounted, but I understand the necessity. Breakfast was fair quality - pancakes were fluffy, hollandaise sauce was a little bland, coffee was a bit weak - but plentiful and filling. I really appreciated the pepper grinder and hot sauce at the table. Service was excellent - friendly, attentive, quick, and precise.

It was a rainy day here in Wawa so instead of trying to cook at our campsite, we went out to eat and ended up at this great little spot. The atmosphere was awesome! The antler lighting fixtures the benches made out of trees were amazing. It was warm and cozy. The food was fantastic. We had the club sandwich, sweet potato fries and buffalo chicken wrap. The coleslaw was so good! Our server was hilarious and funny and fast and we would definitely come back here!

The Wawa Goose Bar and Grill offers good bar food and fast/friendly service. When you first walk in, the room is very engaging and inviting. It is a bar setting with plenty of televisions, tables, and a well-staffed staffed bar. We sat down and were promptly greeted by our friendly server. The room is comfortable for a bar setting, and the service was excellent. I tried the wings and my friend tried a sandwich. Both were very good. Overall, we were very impressed and we would we would return without hesitation.

I'd like for this to be a 4-5 star review as the staff are very friendly and the decor is lovely but alot doesn't add up. Let's start with the positives, the bar and seating area with the beams filled with all sorts of wild taxidermy is a northern touch. The inside has great updates and comfy seating. The staff are lovely, the bartender who I see there almost every visit is great at his job. Engaging and prompt. Great conversation. This visit we had a young lady that was very friendly and asked all the right questions. She recieved a 25% tip to compliment her performance. Now... I believe this must stem from a top up thing because 88 dollars pre tip for two burgers, fries, and two beers seems a bit ridiculous if they are not of the fine dining quality. Which they are not. But I would have accepted the cost if they were just extra delicious. They were alright. The fries are the crispy kind so you can't really go wrong but super surprised you couldn't substitute for a salad... Why not? The burger didn't even seem homemade.... Ate down the road and got appetizers, and meals for 3 for less than the same price of this.

Hubby and I were stranded in Wawa due to a snow storm and we were very excited to dine at the Goose Bar and Grill. The inside is beautiful, warm and cozy and the service was really terrific. I’m only giving 3 stars for food though. We both had the New York strip with mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables. The mashed potatoes had literally no seasoning, just plain old plain mashed potatoes. They were super dry and bland. Some cream and seasoning would have been a great addition. The vegetables and steak were just ‘ok’. We were so looking forward to, but disappointed in the food.

I have gone to the wawa goose on March 4th for breakfast ! The food was delicious like always but I wanted to call and complain about the waitress, she has an attitude on her ! As I was paying for my meal I let her know that I was paying with credit and I have to swipe my card she then firmly said NO use tap or chip.. but as my card is old I have to swipe I then reminder her like last time I was in we had the same conversation she then grab my card outa my hands and pay for the bill holding the machine to my face for the tip option ! Next time I go there if she’s working I will be asking for a different waitress or return when a different one is working!

My brother and I have been visiting Wawa our entire lives. Unfortunately, a lot of restaurants have come and gone. We had dinner here two nights in a row, and the experience exceeded our expectations. Tonight we had the spinach dip and outdoorsman pizza. The food was excellent, and the service was great. I don’t understand people complaining about prices at a restaurant like this in a place like Wawa. They are a hundred miles from the next city, rely largely on seasonal tourism, and have had the pandemic to deal with. People need to just enjoy the experience for what it is and not grade the place like it’s a steakhouse in a big city. This is a nice restaurant in a great little town in Canada. I sincerely hope they are around for many years to come and I wish them great success in the future.

What can I say about this place? Expect to be treated as a family. Or as you should respect one as such. It's an experience, not a bar. Your northern retreat. From the management to the staff, it's meticulously thought out for you. Humble comfort and great food, it's what should be expected! Especially in today's lack of customer service. I absolutely encourage you to check it out! Thank you, Wawa Bar and Grill, warmest regards from my stay!
