Well, what to say about this beach? A truly, truly unforgettable experience. If you do one thing in Boa Vista, come visit this as of yet untouched, kilometres-long piece of paradise. I found myself entirely alone on an expansive beach that reminds one of the Caribbean or Maldives. The water was clear as can be and excellent to swim in. Here's to hoping this untouched bliss will remain a hidden gem for years to come and that hotels don't clog up this incredible place on earth.

18 - 20km of pristine, untouched and magical beach. Pictures certainly do no justice! The sand dunes also make for great (read instagrammable pictures) especially when the weather is good. You can get there by renting a car for 60 Euros or with an organized tour for 80Euros. Pro tip: It might get cold, so take an extra piece of clothing along.

Only word to describe this place is surreal! Miles of untouched sand, truly beautiful. Will be a huge shame if it gets built on but hopefully not as it’s a Turtle breeding ground. It’s a must see (asap) before it’s spoilt!

Sand like sugar, crystal clear water, hardly any people, what else could you want! Our driver took us to Boca Beach bar and it was way less wavy and perfect for swimming.

A perfect winter getaway! An absolute gem of a place, rooms were clean and spacious, surrounded by immaculate landscaping. Pool and surrounding area was lively, well maintained. Food excellent, plenty of variety and snacks on hand during the day. A lovely, warm atmosphere. Staff were friendly, helpful, animation team during day and lively entertainment in the evenings. It couldn't have been any better. My daughter and I had the best time, thank you!

**I'm editing my post below because it was written in a fit of frustration. Every time I sat down, someone sat next to me and lit a cigarette, making me feel like I was being chased around the hotel and eventually back to my room just to get away from it. Thinking that was going to be the next three weeks was too much. That said, the manager took my complaint very seriously and things did improve. I'm not giving the hotel 5 stars, as I think there's still a lot that could be done. The no smoking areas are very poorly marked, with very few signs, which although pretty and tasteful aren't very clear, which is confusing for people, especially since the practice of leaving ashtrays on the bar leads people to believe they can just take one and smoke at any table. The tables which are for smoking are upwind of those that aren't, which may very well adhere to the local rules but doesn't really apply any common sense. That said, this review is undoubtedly disproportionately biased toward the smoking policies based on my experience that first day and the fact that they have put somewhat of a damper on my holiday, but i can honestly say things did improve thanks to the efforts of the manager and his staff and apart from that I'd have no issues whatsoever recommending this hotel. The staff work incredibly hard to make your experience a good one, with no end to their energy and enthusiasm, they're all friendly and professional, nothing is too much trouble and it's been a pleasure to spend time here. It's a beautiful hotel and without the smoke issue which, in all honesty I'm likely alone in being bothered by, I'd absolutely give it 5 stars. The hotel really needs to section off the smokers and non smokers. Granted there's no smoking indoors but any outdoor table is fair game, which leaves you with nowhere to sit and have a drink without being surrounded by a noxious cloud of smoke and the horrendous smell it brings with it, which despite the breeze sticks to everything.

All inclusive on a stunning beach. You can walk for miles along the beach but the waves are powerful so only good in the sea for the strongest swimmers. Nice pool, plenty of sun loungers and good food in the restaurant. The stars are the staff and whoever does recruitment is good because every staff member is a credit. This is all about a lazy beach holiday. There are no other places to visit on foot and there is no culture for good restaurants. For winter sun not too far away at a good price it is hard to beat.

Lovely hotel with good facilities, friendly staff and a great entertainment team the only thing that lets it down is the food. Yes there are choices but its much the same, fried food, stews and salad. Many of the dishes have been cold or under/over cooked and dry, even the cucumber is dry. Sorry won’t be coming back because of the poor food. There is a lack of information provided on evening entertainment and what the hotel offers. Could do significantly better in this area. Rooms are basic but comfortable. No refreshments are provided in the room except for an empty water bottle which you have to fill your self. A charge for the use of the safe for a 5star hotel is outdated. Although everything is priced in Euros you are charged in CVE so everything costs a little bit more than expected. Iberostar you should do a lot better.

Loved all the staff, super super friendly! The rooms were cleaned everyday and the vibe around the resort was just perfect. However, as its normal in similar Cape Verde's resorts, food quality and hygiene is sometimes not the best, causing me to have a really bad gastro issue in my final day there. I would just advise everyone to not drink any of the drinks that contain ice :) Thank you boa vista staff for delivering us the most amazing week!

The hotel was extremely clean and we were welcomed by very friendly staff, who were available 24/7 and would do their utmost best to deal with any issues we had. The restaurant staff were always there to greet people with a big hello and a big smile. The food was always fresh and they catered for lots of different appetites (if you like soft scoop ice-cream then you are going to be happy) personally I don't, lots of different desserts at lunch and dinner time. Myself and my husband would like to say a BIG THANKS TO ALL AT VOI PRAIA DE CHAVES RESORT. I highly recommend a visit to this hotel and country. People of Cape Verde don't have a lot but are very happy and friendly people whose Moto is NO STRESS.

Negatives: - Outdated room; not up to 5-star standards. - Pillows, bed linen, and towels show signs of wear. - Decor appears outdated and tired. - Gym facilities are outdated. - All-inclusive could have included snacks like crisps, nuts, and nibbles. - Food tends to be cold at the start of service. - Entertainment not in English and becomes repetitive. - Internet speed is inconsistent and occasionally drops out. Overall, a stay with both positive and negative aspects, with room for improvement in certain areas.

All in all a positive experience saved mostly by the exceptional location of the resort on the magnificent "Praia de Chaves" beach and by the overall positive quality/price ratio (which is why I gave it 4 stars). However, it must be mentioned that this structure is absolutely not a 5 star, moreover an Italian structure cannot serve such an average quality of food (being an Italian resort and not knowing how to make even a simple pasta is a shame). For the rest the structure needs to be renovated (the rooms are dated and our bathroom flooded with every flush). regarding service there is still a lot to do, the mostly local staff must be trained to provide a service more in line with the mostly European customers.

As others say, defo not a 5-star hotel as advertised. The rooms are very exhausted - we have to hold our shower with one hand or it will just shoot water everywhere. However, I can see that they are making improvements - changing something here and there. Please start with the shower head and garbage bin. The main redeeming factor of this resort is the fresh fish at their buffet. Since it’s all inclusive you do get a good variety of dishes that will surely please a wide range of palate. Plus, you can reserve their wellness area for 2 hours. At 12 euros, that’s a steal - access to the jacuzzi, heated or very hot pool, hammam, and sauna. Otherwise, the pool is good for outdoor swimming while the beach is, if you’re lucky, for playing with the waves. Often windy which I quite like but not the best when you’re swimming. Another positive thing that I like is that there are water fountains near the rooms so you can fill up your 700ml glass bottle provided in the room with filtered water. However, I don’t know how they maintain them as I often see the red buttons lit up which mean uh oh, change the filter. But, defo a great service to the environment especially for island economies.

We have just returned from a week at this resort. The hotel, location, food and service could not be bettered. The staff serving in the dining room were absolutely excellent in particular Faritza and Elvis, the reception staff were very helpful. The pools were lovely and most times we were able to get a sunbed around the pool, the walk down to the beach was a fair way but very do-able and once you are there it is absolutely amazing and again we were able to get a sunbed. We will definitely be returning.

The swimming pool was covered with pool foil a few years ago, which has now become wrinkled, torn, reglued and dirty. Such a lovely little spot, amazing view, reasonably priced and food was lovely, staff also friendly! The cocktails are strongg (which we like!) Plenty of seating and toilets available. The beach is cute too. They also take card payment here, I was using my Revolut card to pay and no issues!

The ruins of this old ceramic factory stand in the dunes along Praia de Chaves on the western side of the Island of Boa Vista. It is about a 20-25 minute walk from the Riu Karamboa/Palace hotels along the beach. There is a beach bar in front of the ruins. The remains of the ceramic factory are clearly visible with the chimney visible from a long distance due to the height.
