The Paje by Night hotel is a relaxing haven near the beach in Zanzibar. It has free breakfast, a restaurant and bar, and an outdoor pool. The hotel is popular with tourists for its unique touches, including themed parties every night.
Amazing hotel with a nice atmosphere! Very clean rooms and alot of greenery🌴🌳Very friendly staff, amazing food! 1 min walk to the beach🌊

The food not bad but, very small portions not at all what they are writing in menu. We ordered beef and it was announced 200 grams but we got so small portion, maybe 50. I’m a cocker and have my own restaurant and I know how much is 200 grams. Paje by night you need to change numbers on menu or to buy working scales for weighing products

Basic but clean rooms. Very good breakfast. Very nice people. Super close to the beach and the Paje by kite school is on the beach so you can chill there. Has a backpacker feel to it so would recommend for solo travelers or groups of friends rather than couples.

Service : We are not in paje to be in a rush and its quite normal to wait here. But there... 60min for starters and 45 more for mains! Pole pole, alright, but nearly 2hours... even in Zanzibar, it's too long. ;) To this, add some mistakes with our orders (never seen neither the spicy rice and veggies written on menus, nor the wine (but charged on the bill though). Food : the mezze was mezzo. We were as far as we are from Lebanon. The prawns and avocado tower was unfortunately too bland to compensate. Besides veggies/rice deceptions and the tandoori chicken that was as dry as a bone, mains were ok. Not enough to forget the long wait and mistakes. Especially with prices slightly above average. 2 stars : One for the nice environment/garden, the other for spinaches and curry. For the rest, they really need to work to improve the experiment. Cheers.

So, unfortunately, the review score suffers here due to the nature of another customer, who was allowed to be aggressive, arrogant, and absolutely spoiled towards us. We had arrived 2 hours earlier and asked may we watch the Liverpool match. The very nice barman put it on TV and we ordered drinks and food. Soon after the match had started, a 'man' arrived who decided that he would now take the TV to watch another match. When we refused, he became aggressive and extremely rude. It got to the stage where I felt intimidated. At this stage, I decided to make a complaint at the bar. And hence this is the reason for the 1 star. The staff did not care, unfortunately. I might add that the original bar man who was so good to us was not there at this time. As I realised that nothing would happen, we had to pay our bill and leave due to not feeling safe. I might also add that this 'man' was not Tanzanian. So I guess the lesson here is that your safety from other customers is an issue and should be taken more seriously in the future.

I can not recommend less. This is the first time in my life that I leave a restaurant without eating (and god knows I love restaurants). And lot of people left as well because of the waiting. Before all I would like to mention the fact that I have been in Zanzibar for weeks and I know that "pole pole" is the norm here, but this was just too slow this time We waited for 2 hours for pastas & a burger, which never arrived (despite the waiter telling us that it would be ready in 5 minutes, every 5 minutes). After confronting the manager, he told us that there were too many groups and everybody was too busy: honestly we were 30-40 no more. We went to the counter to pay for the drinks we had while waiting, and ask to cancel our food. They didn't even apologize and after another few minutes of waiting, they gave us a bill including stuffs we didn't drink. We paid for what we drank, I have to admit we were expecting a discount after such a nightmare ... Edit : the answer of the owner is pure lie. To start with, I was not there with any friend so I’m not sure who the owner is referring to. Then we were told that the wait was 0,5 hour, not 1,5 which is way more. I was hungry so I wouldn’t have waited for that long, no matter the food. Maybe next time don’t spend your entire night on the sofa and take your responsibilities on what’s going on in your restaurant.

Very nice hotel. Rooms are located in the garden, a lot of trees and plants, almost like in jungle. Swimming pool under the palms do the job. Around 100m to the beach, a lot of small shops around, also one tourist shop ( with prices) if you need something from europe to buy. Really good place to stay. No minuses at all.

Such a lovely place to stay in Paje. Great atmosphere, the rooms were really nice and clean. Great food, right by the beach, less than a minute walk. The staff were amazing, so helpful and friendly. I lost my purse in another bar a drive away and they were so helpful, even went to collect it for me! So kind!

I recently stayed at Paje by Night in Zanzibar and I have to say, it was an absolutely amazing experience. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by the super friendly staff who made me feel right at home. The rooms were beautiful and impeccably clean, with everything I needed for a comfortable stay. One of the things I loved about Paje by Night was the super relaxed environment. The resort is located in a beautiful, peaceful setting, and it was the perfect place to unwind and relax. I especially enjoyed participating in the daily yoga classes, which were held in a beautiful outdoor studio overlooking the ocean. The instructor was excellent, and I really appreciated the opportunity to practice yoga in such a beautiful setting. But the real highlight of my stay was the food. The meals at Paje by Night were absolutely amazing, with a wide variety of delicious dishes to choose from. The staff were all so helpful and accommodating, and I ended up becoming friends with several of them during my stay. In addition to the great staff, beautiful rooms, and relaxed atmosphere, I also had the pleasure of getting to know the owner of Paje by Night. They were so welcoming and hospitable, and really went above and beyond to make sure my stay was as enjoyable as possible. Overall, I highly recommend Paje by Night for anyone looking for a comfortable, friendly, and enjoyable place to stay in Zanzibar. The staff, rooms, yoga classes, and food are all top-notch, and I can't wait to go back and visit again in the future.

Took a solo trip for my birthday to Zanzibar. Was very pleased with Paje By Night. Breakfast, yoga and massage were included in my booking. Yoga included a morning Mysore practice and and evening Vinyasa. Carolina was a great instructor, patient with those new to the practice, but also really help me push my practice (I've been practicing yoga for over 10 years). Mats are available, but If you practice regularly I would recommend bringing your own mat or sticky towel. I got the deep tissue massage and it was so worth it. Only regret is I didn't have enough time to get another one! Employees and management were very helpful and engaging. Other travelers (mostly solo) were friendly. Breakfast (included) offered a nice variety. Latte was solid. My room was clean and had a nice layout. One downside was water pressure was a bit off in my room, but honestly not a deal breaker for me during my stay. I brought it up as I left and was told they would work on it, as the place I was staying was newer. I appreciated that the location was a bit off the beach, but not isolated.

Your Zanzibar Place is a no-frills beachfront guesthouse in Stone Town with a bar/restaurant and Wi-Fi. The guesthouse has palm leaf bungalows, which are simple but comfortable.
We had 2 nights stay at the place, I would describe it as strange but yet great stay! we had a double bed and a mattress in the above stairs, I did not like that the room had no AC, but the fan helped. The bathroom in the room had no doors!! it was really odd :). They provided free breakfast which was tasty, the kitchen had a lot of options for lunch and dinner, all meals I've tried were delicious. You might get lucky and have some monkeys playing around within the place area.

Definitely the place to be in Paje. Friendly atmosphere with people from all over the world being around all the time. The rooms are clean, the facilities are super nice overall, really nice service, as the staff is super friendly. The food in the restaurant is great and the location is also top notch - just a 30 second walk to the beach and 5 minutes to the centre of the village.

Hands down the best hostel i have been to. Super friendly, amazing atmosphere, great food, comfy beds, 1 min from the beach,.. There's literally nothing bad i could say. Absolute recommendation

Location is great, and it’s fun with sand floors everywhere and in your room (yes your room). But It’s cheap for a reason - we had beg bugs, there’s mosquitoes everywhere, rooms very small, there was no electricity and there NO WATER/SHOWER for 24 hrs which was a very unpleasant experience. Spend a little bit more to find a much better place slightly further down the beach with a pool and actually on the beach.

The most friendly and fun place you can end up in in Zanzibar. It is right by the beach, which is super convenient. Staff is amazing and make you feel at home from the first time you enter. Easy to make new friends and enjoy every day there.

I loved the place the moment i stepped in, everyone were so nice and welcoming, Miro helped me check in and give all the information about the place and Paje in general. Room was nice and clean. Location of the hostel is very convenient, its 1 minute from the beach, also they have really nice area outside with longchairs, beds and hammocks where you can chill and relax. Also they have bar and restaurant on premises. I would recommend this place and definitely i will be back :)

We really enjoyed our stay here, the huts are big and spacious (be prepared for the sand floors). We had a private room and it would have been good to have a table or something, so our bags weren’t on the sandy floor. Facilities were okay, never too busy. Our dinner was good and the breakfast was great - juice, tea, fruit, eggs or pancakes. Other hostels we’ve stayed in in Zanzibar, we’ve been helped with bags on arrival and been greeted with a juice, this would be a nice touch as we weren’t welcomed with warmth and smiles as is normal in Africa. But otherwise the staff were lovely. Hostel is right next to the beautiful Paje beach, lots of nice bars and restaurants nearby. Good price for the room and food and drinks. Would be perfect for solo travellers, everyone was friendly and would play cards in the evening etc.

The Mapacha Street Food Court is a great place to get delicious food at atmospheric prices. There's usually a lot of variety and Cakes, croissants, and pastries are often very friendly. It's not always cheap though. The street parking can be tight but there is also free off-street parking nearby.
Superb atmosphere. Great coffee. Even bigger variety. Cakes, croissants, very friendly, free WiFi. Not cheap though. Good for giving yourself a treat once in a while.

Have been here twice and not been disappointed. Sat on the Bar and had my dinner there. The seafood place had a great tuna steak, Turkish stall made a nice lentil soup and the dumpling place had excellent gyoza style dumplings. Prices are fair and staff is super friendly. Immaculate clean toilets.

Really good food Cinnamon ice cream - mamma Mia gelato. Pretty good for those that tried. Chinese place - 8 piece chicken dumplings and chicken soup. The soup had a bit of a smell but can be balanced w soy sauce. Seafood place - fried anchovies and herbs and garlic octopus. They were great and prepared the octopus spicy on request. Great bowls to serve in as well. Mediterranean place - chicken tawook. Decent. Not a fan of fries inside the wrap.

This place feels unreal in Zanzibar, super cool atmosphere. The sandwiches place is amazing. We had a focaccia and we couldn’t believe how good it was! Fresh juices, ice cream, all was good. Highly recommended

It is a small food market for tourists. You can find diferent kind of food. 5 stars for the chicken guy, 4 stars for the turkish guy, even the owners was smoking inside the stoll, 4 stars for the seafoof guy. Unfortunately, we couldn't eat dumpling and soup&salad, because the workers didn't want to work.

We just try new seafood in the court and it was very very tasty, staff was very smiling, food comes quickly (which is not native for Zanzibar 😂). All the atmosphere in the court is just cool 😎 with very good music and clean tables and of course very welcoming people inside!!! Must try! You are great people just go on!

I recently visited a food court that offered a wide variety of food styles and had an authentic and cool atmosphere. The food court had a great reputation for serving high-quality and authentic food, but unfortunately, it wasn't exactly to my taste. The food court had a diverse range of cuisines on offer, and I appreciated the variety of choices available. However, the specific dishes I tried didn't quite meet my personal taste preferences. Despite this, I must say that the food court's ambiance was fantastic. It had a cool and authentic vibe that transported me to another place and time. The decor and lighting were well-thought-out and added to the overall experience. Furthermore, the quality of the food was good, and it was evident that the dishes were prepared using fresh and high-quality ingredients. The authenticity of the food was also apparent, and it was clear that the food court took great care in ensuring that their dishes were true to their cultural roots. While the food wasn't exactly to my taste, I believe that the food court would be a great option for those who appreciate the type of cuisine on offer. The food court has a lot of potential and is certainly worth trying out for those interested in trying a variety of cuisines in an authentic and cool setting. In summary, this food court offers a unique and diverse dining experience in a cool and authentic atmosphere, with high-quality and authentic food. While it wasn't quite to my taste, I would recommend it to those with a particular interest in the cuisines on offer. I had the dumplings and they were berry tasty. The spring rolls were also good.

We had the Shawarma wrap two days in a row because it tastes lovely! It is very freshly prepared with tender chicken. You can sit by the road and watch the daily crowds on the street. In the food court you can also grab coffee, ice cream, pizza, Asian food, veg&vegan food and there is a even a bar that serves beers - so everyone will definitely find something

The Rooftop Restaurant in Paje offers a wide selection of local cuisine at affordable prices. It is an ideal choice for those on a budget or visiting the area. The menu includes various seafood dishes such as Grilled lobsters, Octopus, and calamari, served with either french fries or rice. Although it may not have received favorable reviews on Google, the restaurant is highly regarded by groups who appreciate its delicious meals and unique location.
Had a great meal at the Rooftop. Creative Chef, great views and a very nice cooling breeze whilst dining. Well worth a visit when in Paje!

Been to this rooftop bar couple of years ago. Since this year it's under new management, with a new menu and new vibe. The food was delicious. We had octopus and a curry. Both meals were exceptional. Also the prices are very moderate compared to other places in Paje. Great place to watch the sunset and the bustling street below.

One of the worst pizza in my life! Chicken bones pizza🤢! I ordered a chicken pizza and it was really bad, it was full with bones like they put leftovers in it. At every bite i found bones in it. It was a waste of money... my money!

We didn't expect, but the food was really really yummy. A mix of Indian and international and Zanzibar dishes. Nice served! I recommend. Just add some music in this place, then it's perfect ☺️

Completely lied to us, told us they serve swahilli food but they gave an Indian style curry with Indian spices not Tanzanian. They should be honest at the door and should let us know that they don’t serve swahilli food. The “chapati” Was raw and uncooked dough was squishy and chewy. I don’t recommend at all

Ocean Restaurant is a great place to enjoy fantastic food and impeccable service. The food is mouth-watering, with dishes such as tuna steak, and the service is superb - especially from Muddy and Fred who go out of their way to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Plus, the atmosphere is perfect - calm and peaceful, with bright light shining down on you from above.
We passed by this place while walking on the beach and it caught our eye simply because it looked like a clean well established place with high standards. And so it was and our expectations were exceeded because of one man, our waiter Muddy. He was just incredible, best service I had in Africa so far! He is just so energetic, fun and takes good care of you and really giving you the best experience. Our Seafood was excellent like the entire experience so we came back the following day again for some Burgers. Best in Tanzania by far and again just phenomenal service from Muddy! He’s a great man and we wish him all the best!

After 5 days of trying different restaurants for each meal, we found Ocean to be The best restaurant on Paje beach. The food is consistently tasty and well prepared (with some minor flaws - the fries were on the soggy side), and the service and atmosphere were spot on. Highly recommend the shrimp spring rolls and the fish of the day - both were above and beyond delicious.
M Morgan — Google review
The restaurant seems to have good reviews but my experience there was not great at all. We went there during low season and they seemed to have a different menu with fewer options than usual and none of them was really good in our opinion. I ordered seafood pasta which supposedly has prawns but it came out only with fish and calamary. It tasted extremely basic. My friend ordered a burger which tasted OK but not amazing. Maybe go there during high season - but definitely avoid in low season, there are better options in the area.

Super cool spot on the beach! Perfect for nomad workers (even if WiFi is not so strong, specially when crowded) who want to enjoy the relaxed vibes of the beach while performing some work related activities! Cocktails are really good and food too! They have a 2 for 1 cocktail happy hour deal! Don't miss it!!

The location was nice but average food. We got the tuna steak and fish curry. Tuna was very dry and didn’t feel fresh and the curry was ok. However we couldn’t finish our food as flies took over the table.

2021. Great Restaurant with a nice vibe right by the Beach. They often have live music playing. The sea food and local dishes are the best. They have happy hour until 7pm for all alcoholic beverages and cocktails. Just make sure to check your bill. We went there over ten times and the bill was wrong over half of the time. Thanks to Fred for always sorting everything out. Food was no good 2022 😏

Absolutely amazing place! Stumbled upon it by accident and I must tell you - this is, hands down, the BEST seafood platter I’ve ever had! So good, highly recommend P.S.
