Italian restaurant
Restaurant 1974, da Antonio e Giulia is a high-end Italian restaurant located on the outskirts of Trou aux Biches in Mauritius. The food is delicious and the prices are perfect for the quality of the food. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is unique and romantic.
Great Italian restaurant near the water. Seems very popular since it's more or less always full. Very good service and super flexible since our kids 3 and 5 are a bit picky with the food in general. They listened and fulfilled alla our wishes. Also one of the fastest service on the island even though the restaurant was full. We tried the black pasta with giant shrimp and a fish dish. Kids got pasta bolognaise with black pasta even though it was not in the menu, all separated indifferent bowls as we asked for. All delicious and just great. I say get here quickly if you are in the area. Recommended.

It’s real piece of Italy at Mauritius. Pasta and fritto misto are marvellous! Service is fine. One of the best places on the island. Strongly recommended for visiting!

The local was really stuffed and we were lucky to get a table. The stuff was kind an friendly. The food was very delicious! For this quality the price was perfectly fine.

Went to this place in Trou aux biches for dinner. Ordered some deep fried baby calamari which were fantastic, served with a nice salsa and modified mayonaise. We recevied the small basket of bread after starters and the bread was stone cold which i requested to be heated. Second starter was the fresh tuna carpaccio which also very nice tasty. The main course i ordered was the beef lasangnia and my wife had the stuffed cannelloni with fish and crab. Now the starters were great but we were a bit disappointed with the main courses. First of all the lasangia had a slightly tangy (in a not soo good manner) tomato sauce and the cannelloni would have been perfect if it was made with fresh tuna. Even though advertised as having crab meat the cannelloni didnt taste of any crab at all. We ordered the desert and the tiramisu was very very good :) Overall the service was nice, the servers seemed a bit tired which is understandable. But the main course is what I was really looking forwards to which didnt keep the pace set by the great appetisers. This place has a lot of potential and i would definitely come again but hope to enjoy my maincourse this time :)

It is unique, it is great and it is delicious! We have been here twice and for sure we had have the best prepared piece of steak, pasta was amazing and wine was perfect. This restaurant is highest end of culinary on the island! This is must go and must taste place. Bravo

What a wonderful evening and experience! After having had several unsuccessful attempts to find a decent non resort restaurant on the West Coast we happened upon this little family run gem. The venue is just across the road from the beach with a lovely cool deep terrace with tables. The waiters are super friendly and efficient, the Italian owner passionate and invested in the food her restaurant creates. With all that going for it, it is the food that steals the show, wonderfully traditional Italian food made special with the most delicious and fresh Mauritian ingredients. We enjoyed crispy Calamari with two home made dipping sauces, made in the lightest crispest coating and also the freshest lightest Tuna Carpaccio topped with lemon, olives and capers (cannot recommend enough) for mains we had the Spaghetti Frutti Di Mare pasta which is served in a generous bowl (needed to carry the huge portion of seafood - fresh razor clams, clams, mussels and Dorado), made with just a touch of fresh tomato to allow the seafood to shine! We also had a wonderful spaghetti with fresh fish, olives, tomatoes and capers (imagine a puttanesca but reimagined for lightness and freshness). Desserts were a incredibly good panacotta, so light with a lovely light wobble, but with a richness and flavour were incredible as well as a fabulous Tiramisu! They are closed on Mondays.

We stumbled on this restaurant for a sunday family lunch and was a really nice surprise. Ran by an italian couple that are passionate about sharing their Italian food heritage with a local twist. The freshest of ingredients used, especially the seafood. The steak with that cheese sauce was amazing! Great staff too. Highly recommended!

Unique, cozy restaurant with really good Italian food and wine. The place is small and service is very attentive and quick. There are tables outside and inside the restaurant. Impressive collection of wines. The place with a soul where you will want to come back when on holidays in Mauritius.

Very nice restaurant, italian couisine with seafood options, for good price. The food was tasty, well prepared and nicely presented. The staff is very friendly and professional and makes good recommendations, points out dishes of the day that are not on the menu. We had fried squid for starters, then beef lasagna and seafood spaghetti and in the end the chocolate surprise for desert. Everything was very delicious and fresh.

A true blessing in the neighbourhood . Run by Italians and staffed by locals a win - win . View is brilliant as you are across the street from the Indian Ocean. If you were dining on the beach you will be dining with the flies . My tell tale sign of a good restaurant is the bread 🥖. It is difficult to find quality bread here but they have secured a fabulous Italian bakery for fresh healthy bread … Had the Lamb shank with potatoes and a brilliant gravy , Soul Food . A variety of wines and drinks 🍺. Reasonable pricing for the high quality. Hats off to the staff . Place is always packed so make reservations. Enjoy 🙏

Great food, one of the best restaurants that ive had food at in Mauritius. One comment is that the waiters are really slow, and this can be fixed to get a better service. Other than that, you can find nice fine italian wine, which is hardly found in restaurants here in Mauritius.

Restaurant
Le Pescatore is a French-Mauritian restaurant located by the beach in Mon Choisy. The restaurant has stunning views of the Indian Ocean and serves up some of the best cuisine on Mauritius. The local chef employs only the finest ingredients, creating mouth-watering dishes that are perfect for a romantic dinner or a special occasion.
I had a wonderful lunch at Pesactore yesterday, for a year-end staff party (we are only 3 people altogether). The position of the restaurant on the beach and the views on the lagoon are superbe. The house itself is old-style inspired, the style I like. Regarding food, it was excellent, new-cuisine style well presented. Only regret, same as many restaurants in Mauritius, the dishes on the card are not always available. Finally, prices are fair vs. quality of the dishes. They range between Rs600 to Rs1, 000 per dish i.e. their main target is tourists. Also for those who like cinema, it was a setting for the film Serenity...

It is a lovely place for an excellent variety of fish. We went for 4 course set menu priced around £40 per person, and a bottle of wine was extra. We sat by the ocean just after sunset with gentle waves lapping below. So good I forgot photos of the main and desert! Service was excellent with a complimentary glass of rum at the end.

4.5 stars Get there for sunset if you can, lovely view Attentive staff, very organised and professional Not cheap compared to other similar options like Le Capitaine but high standard of food and great service Lots of free bread throughout the meal! Amuse bouche of smoked fish on crostini was delicious Food arrived promptly, we use booking was soon after opening Lovely ambience, music etc but the restaurant is next to the boats, mini dock and diving centre so not the best beach front seating compared to some other restaurants Starters of rice and seafood filled 'ravioli' was a little unique but delicious, good size portion and then the seafood soup, smelled incredible taste was just ok but good amount of seafood pieces and you are served table-side, comes with more bread and garnishes Mains of babonne fish in delicious sauce but the prawn & chicken Mauritian curry lacked depth of flavour of seasoning, the one at Le Mediterranée across the road is better Limited cocktail offering on the menu but you can request specific drinks, table next to us complained they were too strong
Melissa Pitt — Google review
Lovely location but food is so bland, what a shame! Ordered a variety of dishes and all were missing either enough seasoning or the flavour promised on the menu. We were so sad about this as we'd been told great things and expected a seafood restaurant in Mauritius to be one to remember. Instead, I'll be happy to forget this overpriced meal. Snobby service never helps, either.
Ella S — Google review
We found this place by chance and we were not disappointed. The serving was on point and I have no words for the food. Every dish was exquisite and perfectly portioned to allow you to try several dishes. The dessert felt like a slice of heaven. Great ambiance, cozy and a great view of the ocean.

Restaurant on the beach with nicely decorated tables. Good service and quality of the seafood. Dishes were simply good, not exceptional to my taste.
Bert De Medts — Google review
I really recommend dining here if you are in the area. Such a beautiful location! The food is good for Mauritian standards. But the rice in the risotto was really over cooked so it was a bit like porridge. But non the less we really enjoyed our evening.
Nikolaj Ryom — Google review
We were expecting so much from this restaurant because of the reviews, but sadly it did not quite get there for us. Positives first. It is very picturesque and the tables are beautifully laid. The restaurant itself is very pretty and nicy decorated. The hors d'oeuvres were unexpected but delicious - small crackers with some sort of fish mousse - we could quite happily eaten a plateful each! Calamari as a starter was OK but rather bland. Main courses - fish of the day and lamb - were very nice, but we felt they were both lacking something. Our server was very austere, and although was courteous, did make us feel a little as if we were a burden. Everywhere else we have eaten, service has been lovely and it is one of the things we love most about Mauritius, the people. We always choose a rental over a hotel so we can eat locally for this reason Staff training on how to smile would be a start!
K T — Google review
Honestly I felt like I was at a Michelin star restaurant. The food was exceptional and everything went together so well! Recommend the lamb neck and the tuna tartar!!!! The best I’ve ever had! The catch of the day was nice as well!

Propose of visit - Business lunch. Visited in Mauritius winter. It was a perfect sunny day, with nice sea breeze. We were seated on the sea facing corner, and it was a delight having lunch with the view. If you are looking for a romantic venue, or even a casual business meeting for a post project debrief, this could be a perfect spot. Food is nice, and freshly prepared. Portions are adequate. Prices though might be on the upside. However, this is a little premium you would have to pay to be in this sea facing restaurant. Will I go again? Yes!
Vidhish Beeharry — Google review
We went for a dinner as a couple and had a nice evening. The food is tasty but price for value is not at par. Given you pay a premium to eat here one can expect premium service, however as soon as the boss left the room the waiters didn't care any more and just dropped our dishes and did not even ask if we'd like to drink something else (e.g., my husband was planning to get a red wine for his main but nobody came so we just let it go) nobody refilled our water glasses even though we still had a bottle in the cooler. It's small things yes, but if you want to play in the premium league I think one can expect this kind of service.

We had the 6 course menu de dégustation and it was fantastic! The focus of our menu was on local and typical ingredients such as sea food and palm hearts. Cooking is elevated to an art and every dish is almost to beautiful to eat. Service was attentive, fast and friendly.

La Marmite Mauricienne is a Creole restaurant located in Trou aux Biches. It is known for its good food, friendly service and reasonable prices. The atmosphere is funky and the menu includes a wide variety of choices for diners.
Great little place with good food, great service, fast and for a great price. Perfect to go to if you live nearby, passing along or staying at the beach nearby. Adding the current food menu, they also had a huge lists of drinking options but that picture come out blurry 🙈

Excellent value for money. We reserved a table and opted for one at the back as the ones in the middle are very close together. Only one man running front of house so a while to get our order taken but then food a bit too quick, we had not finished our starter when main courses came. The menu is large but it seems only some of the options available. We had decided on crispy calimari to share as a starter but where told not available, and to choose between crispy chicken or cheese balls. We then noticed that this was all that was coming out kitchen. Although we were told it was homemade it did not seem so. Chicken liver curry was fine as was the whole fish. With a carafe of wine and a large bill the total was 1055 rupees. Card not accepted. Good value for acceptable food offer

This local restaurant is a small gem. Low key, but the food is delicious, the staff super friendly, and the prices reasonable. They have a huge variety of foods, from simple dishes to fresh lobsters. We loved it.

Just like all the reviews say: Simple place, funky, very friendly service. The food is well prepared and tasty. Not haute cuisine, but very well priced family fare. The drinks are good, strong and reasonably priced too.
Steve Barak — Google review
Had the seafood platter for my dinner and it had one of the best lobster I've had so far. It also contains big fish, calamari and prawns, all the ingredients were not only fresh also very well cooked. The staff was also lovely. Definitely recommended to those who stay in the resorts in this area and wants to try something outside of the hotel.

Very good place to taste mauritius cuisine. Octopus, squid and lamb in various sauces are very good, also worth recommending are meefoon noodles with egg. Prices are reasonable, service is friendly and hence the atmosphere is nice. In short, a place worth visiting.

A great place to visit for authentic, local food. We have been here twice now since we have been in Mauritius and both times it has been busy, with a good mix of locals and holiday makers. Very reasonable prices and friendly staff add to the attraction. Well worth a visit
David Keenan — Google review
Don't be put off by the exterior, Marmite is a great little restaurant. I would have judged it from the appearance but luckily was recommended by a friend and we are so glad we sampled their menu. We ate here multiple times, lunch and dinner, the menu is varied and there is something for every appetite. I think the most stand out thing is the pricing, they price their dishes fairly and in accordance with local costs... many restaurants in the area charge London prices which is absurd. For less than 1,000 rupees (approx £20) you can have 2 main courses and 4 cocktails...that's correct 4 COCKTAILS!! Their prices are about half that of the other local restaurants, I highly recommend. All the food was delicious and the people that run it are friendly and attentive, always making space for us even when they were about to close. It was always packed which is a great endorsement.

Nice local restaurant with good food and good cocktails. Very tasty fishermans soup and fish curry. Great samosas. You can park on the other side of the street. Would go there again 👍
Lucija C — Google review
We ate almost every night here. While the food was good, the problem is with allowing smoking in/near the restaurant, this kills the atmosphere immensely. Also, the service is on the slow side, the fastest we got our main dishes was almost an hour wait.
Auridas Franckevičius — Google review
It's not an enclosed sitting restaurant. When it's hot, expect to sweat and hear the nasty bikers outside. Food is ok, I asked for a salad, and I was given rice instead. I can't eat rice, so this was a waste. It's convenient when it's open. They close on Fridays.

Cabane du Pecheur is a charming seaside eatery in Mauritius that offers an exceptional dining experience. The restaurant, run by three talented sisters who learned their craft from their mother, prides itself on serving only the freshest seafood available each day. Diners can enjoy a variety of delectable dishes such as octopus salad, crispy calamari, and freshly grilled fish while sipping on refreshing mojitos.
Wow!!! Octopus salad, crispy calamari and a whole fresh fish, washed down with mojitos. Five star dining, right next to the ocean, under the trees with a local radio station playing- served and cooked by three sisters who were taught by their mom. They get their seafood on the day- if it is not available super fresh.- they won’t serve it. You will not find a better local eatery anywhere in Mauritius- unbelievably good.

We can't vouch for more complicated dishes, but if you want great fried rice or noodles, sitting at an outside table with a view of boats and the sea, you couldn't do better. This is a family business that has been going for more than 20 years and they began to welcome us like old friends.

Yeap, the hidden gem of this part of the island. True authentic place with amazing food and friendly staff. A little bit pricy, but believe me, it’s worth it. 3x starters, 2x main dishes and 2x drinks, about 60€.

Excellent food, service and ambiance matched by a very good price. Several in our group had Nouilles Frite Special which does not disappoint 👏. The fish, crab and lamb curry where also excellent and must be tried. If you have not eaten at the Cabane du Pecheur you are missing a culinary delight found nowhere else. 😁

Great food and friendly people. As long as your okay with the bugs that come with sitting outside this is a perfect spot to eat and watch the sun go down. The cocktails were lovely and the fish super fresh and delicious.

This is a very rustic place! Having said that the food is good and reasonably priced. I had chicken and shrimp curry which was delicious whilst my husband had fish curry. Although he said it was tasty, it was a very meaty whole fish and he struggled with all the bones. Lovely service.

Sweet staff & family owned business. This is the place to go if you want to have delicious fish! It also made me like octopus (try the octopus salad!) the dishes are a served in generous proportions and the different chutneys are a +. The seafood restaurant Restaurant L'Assiette du Nord is a hidden gem with some of the best seafood around. The food is excellent and the service is always pleasant. They have an extensive menu with something for everyone, and their servings are large so you will not leave feeling hungry. The only downside may be that it can get quite crowded so make a reservation if possible.
Excellent food & pleasant service. Never seen such a large piece of calamari steak before & so tender😀👍🏻

First of all: loved the food. The food was real good value for money. Unfortunately, the service was the worst. We were pressured to order fast, they complained we took too long to decide, then when we had the "audacity" to ask for another plate so we could share the food, the waiter got annoyed and said we should make sure to ask for everything we need at once as he is very busy and does not want to come multiple times to the table. This was when 4 out of (maybe) 15 tables were occupied... at the end we were then charged twice (!) the price for a dish because we asked for an extra ingredient in the dish (and were not informed of this beforehand). Such a pity for the chef, the food was great but because of the service of the owners we won't go there again...

We are were excited to explore food in the North of Mauritius and have driven from an hour away. This restaurant was nicely lit and had a warm atmosphere so we decided to venture in. We were quickly seated, however was then rushed by our woman server (whom I also think was the owner) to take our order. She was sighing while we decided, and annoyed when we had asked for recommendations. When we had asked to be given a moment, she said our food will then come out last. Our drinks and appetizers came out in due time, however our main took close to an hour. The servers that delivered our food were kind and attentive. However it was owner that left a bad taste and impression that tainted the experience. When it came to billing, we had kindly asked if she would be able to clearly itemize the receipt for work expensing purposes, and she was extremely frustrated and annoyed. She ended up only writing the total dollar amount, which unfortunately would not suffice for expenses. Overall we just left and was baffled back the lack of care for their customers.

Reasonable choice for the area. It was relatively quiet when we visited. We had booked a table although the guy who greeted us looked confused but a girl sitting at a table pointed out our table. The chicken lollypop starter was too large even though we shared. Fish aubergine curry was tasty but not heated sufficiently. The chicken, rice, and egg in the reversable bowl was fine. With one rum and Coke and 2 small beer the bill came to 1375 rupees. Cards are accepted

Maybe it does not look like fancy restaurant, maybe more even like a bistro but it is a greaat place with huge variety of dishes from Mauritius, Indian and Asian (Chinese and Thai mostly) cousine. We have been 10 times there for dinner during our 14 days stay in Mauritius. Every dish was at least good. Most of them very good, few even fantastic. Guys working there are very nice, working hard with smile and kind talk, fast and efficcient. We get our food in 10 to maximum 30 minutes where there were all tables taken. Dishes are big or even very big for very, very reasonable prices. Highly reccomended. Good luck and keep going good work 😀. For me one of the best experiences in Mauritius.

An absolute gem of a restaurant. The chicken chilly was not what I was expecting, somewhere between a curry and sweet and sour, truly phenomenal. Followed up by a banana flambé that was out of this world. All in all, magnifique!

L'assiette du Nord is a nice restaurant. The staff is hardworking and friendly. You don't have to wait long before you get your food. The food looks and tastes great. Every ingredient is fresh. The waiter makes great cocktails, especially "The Princess smile" and even mocktails. Try the virgin pina colade with banana. Our favorite meals were the king prawns in garlic sauce and the butter chicken. We ate here a few times and were never disappointed.

The best food quality from this area. Really good , tasty and fresh traditional food. Butter curry is awesome and octopus with papaya too. The cocktails are made with real fruit and taste like haven. Not expensive if you compare with other restaurants. Oh...try also the soups , are great. The waiter is nice and explain you every doubt. Even if decoration is old the food will impress you
