Lucayan National Park

Mentioned on
National park
Lucayan National Park is a distinct natural treasure in the Bahamas, offering a rugged landscape of pine forests and mangrove swamps. Unlike much of the surrounding area, it features secluded beaches and ample bird watching opportunities for nature lovers to enjoy. The park boasts one of the largest underwater cave systems on earth, similar to Thunderball Grotto, which sustains a unique ecosystem that supports local bat populations.
What a wonderful park. Had a great time kayaking through the mangroves. And the Gold Reef beach was a sparkling delight.
Petrona Zickgraf — Google review
Price in 2022 is $11, which we still found good value as it is recovering from hurricane Dorian. The north side is about a 15min circular walk with 2 caves you can enter (one of them had bats which was very cool). And the south side takes you through mangrove creek onto the Gold Rock Beach. The beach is lovely — beautiful sand and water, and hardly any people. A man selling some drinks and snacks, as well as umbrellas ($10/hour) and some bbq food. A nice day out on Grand Bahama!

Great day trip. We got to see the under ground caves, walk the boardwalk over the mangroves and see the beautiful beach. Highly recommend
Deborah Kleinman — Google review
Great little park! Beautiful underground caves and flowers throughout. Friendly park rangers. Compsting toilet was clean. The Gold Rock Beach is the best on the island! The mangroves are fascinating. It is worth the modest fee to support this national treasure and help them expand!
Lara Kearns — Google review
Explored the caves which have crystal blue underwater areas, and there are beautiful trails and a bridge thru a mangrove field. Nice neighboring beach across the street too. Definitely recommend this excursion as a great way to get away from the hotel and explore the island.
Michelle Alpert — Google review
Very cool place. We explored the park, delved into a few caves including Ben’s Cave and then went through the mangroves to a beautiful, clear water beach😁 If you’re visiting Grand Bahama you should stop here.
Arc Hawks — Google review
3 caves, nature walk, signs and explanations, 9$ entrance fee for seniors, 11$ general admission. That's not all. Walk across the highway, make sure you look right and left, you may see a vehicle but probably not. Then follow the boardwalk about 1/4 mile to Gold Rock Beach. A shallow expansive white sand beach stretching for miles...uh, excuse me that's kilometers. Climb down the stairs to a couple of the caves where bats and fish can be found. Burial cave had ancient bones discovered and Ben's cave is divable with proper credentials and experience. Restrooms available at the park office only.
Fred Dombski — Google review
What a great experience. Highly recommend this to anyone who comes here for a visit. Rock beach was great and Valentino who tends to you with beverages and food on the beach. He’s amazing!! Fried lobster homemade bread, sea side with coconut and rum!!

Gorgeous and interesting National Park. Cool caves and perfect white sand beach. The ranger working today was knowledgeable and incredibly helpful. We’ll be back before we leave the island for sure.
Tim Krug — Google review
Giving me a drawing of a path and telling me to follow the path, is not a tour. The cave tour was extremely disappointing. Then telling me to follow a wooden plank path to the beach across the street is not a great idea for tourists, given how desolate the pathways look (right out of a horror movie). Once you get to the beach, it is breathtaking, warm water and beautiful, but deserted. There was nothing to do or see but beautiful blue water snd white sand. The only bright spot on the beach was the gentleman that rented umbrellas, played island music and sold ice cold drinks with his son. His hustle needs to be properly supported and grown into a consistent daily business that he gets paid to do by whoever is in charge of the beach. There needs to be an attraction always, and he's willing to show up, so make it pop. It would be a win win for him, the tourists, the reveiws, and whoever is in charge. I totally get the hardship of the hurricane in 2019, and then cov-19 2020, but the improvements I'm speaking of just takes initiative, common sense, creativity and mobilizing the many people wanting to work.
Wanda Walker — Google review
Tour guides here are extremely passionate on preserving this beautiful/historical site. Caves are so cool to see especially with how clear and beautiful the water looks. The hike around the park isn’t bad at all, all the wooded type bridges and steps are all of great shape to ensure 100% safety of all visitors. Wish we could’ve stayed longer at the beach there as well, definitely the most beautiful water we experienced on the island.

Love this place! It's so beautiful and quiet. If you're visiting you have to stop here. Gold Rock Beach is across the street. There were a couple locals selling coconut water and food. They also rent chairs and umbrellas. Bring something to collect shells. Also I recommend bringing snorkels and goggles.
megan burt — Google review
This is a small park with unique caves you can easily walk and view in an hour. They have a port-a-potty type bathroom which is a bit crude but functional. You can park your car in the lot and walk across the road to the beach. It is a short walk along an elevated wooden walkway to the ocean. We noticed there is a dirt road to the right after the park entrance which you could use to park and get to the wooden walkway without paying the park fee. If we were going again, we would do this to avoid the park fee. However, if you do, be aware there is no bathroom facilities on the beach.
Dave Ojima — Google review
We did the short hikes to the caves and then went to the beach. The caves were very cool to see, and we loved that it wasn't a very long hike. The beach, though, was beautiful. There were very few people and the water was amazing!
malania arezzi — Google review
Beautiful caves ! Well worth the trip from cruise port. Park on dirt road to the right, before park entrance and access boardwalkway to avoid the ridiculous 11$pp fee. Bathrooms are horrendous latrines, you're better off using the bushes. Apparently the 11$ pp doesn't go towards much needed upkeep. No swimming in cave, but scuba is permitted with a permit. Cave is similar to Devils Den in Florida, enjoy 😉 👍
Diana Colom — Google review
The lady with the banana bread was in the parking lot and we got beer from the guy on the beach. The longer path to the beach through the mangroves wasn't worth it, it was harder to walk on the boards. The shorter path was easier to walk on and had nicer water and fish underneath. The caverns and the beach were beautiful, 10/10
Jill Tabata — Google review
Broad, beautiful, white sand beach with blue waters...and it's wild, open and empty. We loved it. Grand Bahama was devastated by a category 5 hurricane in 2019...the devastated the island. Most large hotels are shuttered and tourism is sparse during the winter months. Driving downtown Freeport on a Saturday morning felt quiet and empty. Surreal. The drive to Lucayan Nat park was long kilometers of straight highway with endless low brush and deadstalk trees on either side. It's a little desolate. But then you park your car on the gravel lot and walk the wooden path through the low mangroves....to where the beach finally opens up to soft white sand...and it's magical. We stayed and watched low tide roll out...then explored through the receding water. Finding shells and chasing crabs. Sun, sand and blue sky.
Mario A — Google review
This was a perfect mini vacation. Honestly a nice spot to stop. Great cave. Small but it wasn’t packed even though we were told this was a popular tourist destination. The drive here was pretty expensive. I believe it was $180 to get here and back from the port. Entrance once here is $11 for adults. $9 for 60+
Nicole B Garcia — Google review
Even with the cloudy weather it was a beautiful place to visit. We were sitting on chairs eating banana bread supplied by the woman at the gate ($5.00/piece) and feeling like it can’t get much better than this. Very very peaceful!

Garden of the Groves

Botanical garden
Nature & Parks
Gardens
The Garden of the Groves is a 12-acre botanical garden located on an island dominated by scrub pine and asphalt. The garden boasts manicured gardens with vibrant birds, cascades, and a labyrinth modeled after the one at Chartres Cathedral in France. In addition to its spiritual appeal, visitors can explore groves of tamarind and java plum trees as well as a raccoon habitat that houses specimens of this invasive species.
Enjoyed this as a part of a cruise excursion, but wish we had come just here so that we could have spent more time. The grounds are lovely and we had a guided tour by Marilyn, who was wonderful. Even the food and drinks at the cafe were of a much higher standard than I would expect from a smaller botanical garden. The vendors in the shops were also so fun and helpful. Definitely see Leslie and his art if you can!
Emma J. Hendren — Google review
Super chill location that is perfect for some down time while on vacation. It will take about 1.0 to 1.5 hours to walk the garden. The restaurant that is on premise is a perfect place to wrap up the garden with some excellent food and some amazing rum drinks. Glad we added this to our tour.
Bryan Secrest — Google review
This was a nice little retreat while in the Bahamas. However, I was expecting it to be more of a day trip. After about an hour, we had seen everything there was to see! I think $17 admission is a little pricey for what you get, but the animals are cool to see! We loved listening to the birds and watching the turtles.
Elizabeth Lee — Google review
Such a lovely garden to visit. I loved the labyrinth. I walked it and then worked through each of the 6 petals of the center rose. Was so peaceful. I enjoyed the statue of St. Francis. He's my favorite Saint. Loved seeing the beautiful trees and flowers.
Amy Case — Google review
Lovely tranquil place to visit for a walk and to eat or just to chill out in a 'zen' environment. Lots of shade too if it gets hot. Turtles, raccoons, fish, parrots, lizards 🦎 and butterflies .
Rory Goss — Google review
If you aren't a nature person, this is not the place for you. If you love nature and the outdoors, you can appreciate every step you take. They do entertainment large groups. Rating reflects - rebuilding and natural disaster took a toll on the area.
Jennifer Nelson — Google review
What a beautiful garden! It's relatively small but has a lot of character. There are ponds with fish, turtles, and ducks in them. You can have delicious lunch by the water and watch the stray cats walk around the area (but don't feed them!). Other notable mentions are that the bathrooms are clean and staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. I went with the tour guide Marilyn who had a plethora of information about the garden and was a great storyteller.
Melanie A. — Google review
Nice and helpful staff. Entrance price is now 12$ for adults. Good café food options but the service was a little slow for the many of us. The path around the ponds is accessible but there are many side paths leading to observation areas or secluded sections that require walking up steps or steep climbs. Closes late on Fridays.
Sophie Ting — Google review
This is a pretty little garden. It is old and a little overgrown in a few places. The map was hard to read but we did see some pretty plants and flowers. The price was fair, they need money to keep it going. Maybe they will get some donations to help. Going I August was very HOT, make sure to wear sun screen and take water.
Linda Israel — Google review
Our guide was AMAZING. I wish I could remember her name. She was so genuine and welcoming, and the gardens were really beautiful. After the initial tour we got to wander on our own and explore and there were so many things to discover. It was really fun and the local flora and fauna were beautiful.
Donna Dodgen — Google review
After a long bike to the garden, I didn’t get to explore every corner of it. But I mainly lost interest after noticing that the garden needed to be well kept and cleaned up. I was hoping to see many different plans and flowers but didn’t get lucky. Bushes and trees needed trimming. The children playground needed attentions and definitely replaced if not painted. I was simply disappointed…. It looked abandoned. The only place that looked decent was the restaurants where most tourists hung out. Other then that I was not impressed…. I hope they put to use the $17 fee. I didn’t take any fotos of the areas that needed attention since I was so tired from pedaling over 3 hours. And there was not much that captivated my attention. Beside the restaurant area, the church and labyrinth!
Yummy Licious — Google review
Went as part of the ATV excursion. Glad we didn't pay separately. Gardens seem to need a manicure. The waterfalls were not turned on until we were on our way out. Took a look at the menu and food was definitely at a tourist price so we just got a soda. The food wasn't open when we entered first thing anyway. The church was very cute and found some good shells.
Lisa Coins — Google review
Extensive landscaped gardens with powered waterfall, open air bird area, open air butterfly garden, restaurant, bar and shops. Birds and butterflies were scarce. 17$ admission is quite expensive considering many areas need work. I understand the harsh environment and the chapel is quite nice. Perhaps I've been jaded in my 50 years of travel and in no way am I disrespecting their efforts. Go and see for yourself as you may find it to be different for you.
Fred Dombski — Google review
We had a nice day in the garden. The flora and fauna are beautiful. The ducks, turtles and other animals were amazing. We also enjoyed the Labyrinth! The restaurant had a variety of options. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Trails are easy and make for a nice walk!
Matts Kat — Google review
Was probably a nice attraction before the 2019 hurricane. Now it suffers from an extreme lack of attention. Unmended walkways, ragged plants needing a trim, fading paint, crumbling infrastructure, and most sadly, unmaintained ponds, waterways, and waterfalls. $17 per person is not worth it, but hopefully the money will go to the rebuilding effort. Hardly any staff except at the restaurant and souvenir stalls.
John H — Google review
We recently visited the Garden of the Groves as a shore excursion while visiting Freeport on a Carnival Cruise. We weren't sure what to expect when booking this tour but knew that we wanted to get away from the cruise ship area and see something new. This was a WELL-KEPT secret! We had a wonderful time with Marilyn (our tour guide) who absolutely loves this place, loves to share it with guests, and it shows! We would highly recommend a visit to this place!
Brian Margavich — Google review
A few spots here are beautiful but I can’t imagine staying here long. Maybe this is the off season? It was ok. Glad we didn’t make it an all day thing. We stayed for about 45 minutes. It is fine but if you have limited time here, I would definitely recommend other excursions first. It’s worth stopping for about an hour if you’re in this area for a long time. One of the tour groups spent a lot longer than us there and they seemed SO ready to go by the end lol
Nicole B Garcia — Google review
Visited Garden of the Groves yesterday and it was very tranquil and beautiful. I thought it would make a beautiful place for a wedding. I was disappointed that there was little signage to identify plants so I was no more educated leaving as when I arrived. It ended up being a very expensive walk. Even the labyrinth sign was in such disrepair you couldn’t read the whole thing. Seems as tho they could easily make some improvements in this area.
Lauren Smith — Google review
Lots of plant life is about it. Which is ok if you're looking for that. Cafe wasn't that great. Workers there were playing loud unappealing music, and the cafe didn't look inviting. All the waterfalls were not on. All the ponds were dirty and looked terrible. Save your $17 per person and do something else. This place could be so awesome, but it has been let go...
Brad West — Google review
Has not been taken care of or very long time. The paths are falling apart. Trees are across some of the past so you can't get through. You can't even go to the area where the waterfall is. It needs major help is there for each group? Is there a master gardeners group? Is there somebody that can volunteer their time? It needs so very much work. Trimming, raking, planting etc. But you take a picture in some of the spots. It looks like it's amazing, it's $17 a person to walk through

Shopping mall
Sights & Landmarks
The Port Lucaya Marketplace, located in Grand Bahama Island, is a popular outdoor venue that features various shops selling clothing, crafts, and souvenirs. The marketplace also hosts several casual restaurants and bars where visitors can chill out after browsing the goods of over 40 vendors. Spread across 9.5 acres (3.8 hectares), this commercial hub is home to specialty stores and handicraft vendors offering locally made products such as art pieces and hand-crafted gifts.
Beautiful, colorful market, great photo ops!! Hand crafted trinkets, purses, and Caribbean garbs. THE BEST PART IS DADDY BROWN'S CONCH SALAD!! ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! SO FRESH, MADE RIGT IN FRONT OF YOU! DONT MISS IT!

A cute tour of Freeport led us to Cooper's Castle via a coastal tour in a sleepy part of the island that was preparing for a Good Friday fish fry!

This was an OK place to shop while visiting. Our last trip here was in 2016 while staying at Memories Resort. Lots of little shops and almost any souvenir imaginable. Even a store for Harley shirts. Those of you who ride know what I mean. We found something for everyone here. Love all the sundresses the locals have.
Jennifer Shaffor — Google review
Decent market place .. have lot of local vendors selling hats, dresses, wristbands etc and shell necklaces . There are a few high end stores as well. There are few restaurants too
Elizabeth Antony — Google review
Great place to shop, there is a duty free store and alot of local gift shops. In our opinion this is the best place to go shopping if you want a bang for your buck. One side of the marketplace has restaurants. There is a Cuban cigar store we liked. Prices are about what you would expect to pay for Cuban Cigars. There is a local yogurt shop, it reminded me of Cherry Berry from the US, just a lot more expensive. For two yogurts with limited toppings was over $17.00 which I thought was high. We purchased bug spray from the duty free store, it was around $15. Any toiletry item in our opinion was always high. Towards the back of the marketplace there are small little shops with different local merchandise, we had alot of fun. It was about 10 minutes away from it hotel and costed $26.00 one way per taxi ride. Hope this review helps
Meagan Geisler — Google review
Nice place to meet locals and shop. Some of the nicest people you will ever meet. Come with cash. Lots of shops close early so get there during the day for the best experience. Ask the taxi drivers what they will charge to drive you home up front.

Super straw market definitely want to visit number 616 and friends with the people that own those little kiosses and bought lots of family gifts for everyone. They are super nice and fair with their prices. Definitely go to the run runner, great little bar. Big TV karaoke lots of put it on your to-do list when you get to Freeport.

Open air market with usual fare. Clothes, purses, jewelry, candy, eateries and liquor store. Seemed slow considering Carnival cruise ship was in. Check out the tardis. In the US, pay phones are a rarity.
Fred Dombski — Google review
Nice large outdoor shopping and restaurant area near a couple extremely large (however closed at the time of our visit) resort hotels. There are several large open areas with seating and live music. As to the straw market stores - look around, there is a lot of imported generic tourist items (hats / shirts / key chains / etc...) however there is a lot of local things mixed in. Take your time and don't feel the need to buy what you see at the first store. This area is for tourists, there is a cruise ship schedule posted for local vendors and there is a presence of local police who walk the marketplace.
Matt G — Google review
Disappointed. All the vendors carry basically the same thing and it’s mediocre quality at best. Some of the jewelry shops are decent enough but still nothing special. Be prepared to haggle about price or they will happily overcharge you. I didn’t try any restaurants and they looked good. All in all I’ve seen better stuff at ABC stores.
Jud Chapman — Google review
A great marketplace! Nice local goods. The shop owners can be a bit pushy.
Stephanie Bordner — Google review
Market is okay. Many shops and restaurants closed on a Sunday. $14 round trip from cruise port. Shopping is the same as you can get at the port. There is a beach across the street worth visiting. A very underwhelming downtown. The locals said it's because of the hurricane in 2019.

Pay close attention... When you visit Grand Bahama Island, the local taxi services are all very tightly runned when you come off ship... in order to keep prices down, they huddle all the wandering passengers into TWO groups when you disembark... One group is taken to "the beach," the other group is taken "shopping," and that shopping group gets dropped off here, at the Lucaya Marketplace... For those anticipating a robust "downtown area," and chose the "shopping," taxi, you may be disapointed that its really just a large outdoor one-story mall, and not a "downtown area" per say... One side of the island has the "beaches," and the other side, Lucaya Marketplace... so you are forced to chose which group you want to jump in on... This "huddling" taxi technique, allows large vans to take multiple passengers per destination, and, keep the cost at an affordable $7 each way... But impatient travelers may get frustrated at the lack of autonomy associated with choosing your own taxi and going "where you want," and, having to WAIT until they huddle ENOUGH passengers to actually send a taxi out... Otherwise, if you try to find your own private taxi, out side of the organized clan in port, you're looking at about $35 each way... The marketplace is "ok," nothing spectacular, you may want to chose "beach" when they ask you "where do you want to go?" when you come off the ship...

Taino Beach boasts of an exquisite white sandy beach and clear blue waters complemented by a small pier, water sports, and sun loungers. It is well-known for its serenity and tranquility as it offers several isolated stretches of sand where visitors can comfortably relax without disturbance.
We absolutely loved our time at this beach! Sand and water is amazing! It's free as well! If you go to the left of the restaurant, you'll see a sign and you can just walk right through. They have wooden chairs to relax on which was nice.

Beautiful beach with calm, clear, warm water and nice sport areas. Not too crowded. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is the sheer amount of beach peddlers! We were approached multiple times and harassed to buy jewelry, shells, etc. We had to to leave because it was so irritating. We went on vacation to relax, not to have people badger us!

Really enjoyed this beautiful beach. There is bars and restaurants on the public side that are much more reasonable than the beach club. Dorsett's conch salad was fresh and delicious

Overall...decent beach. Rocks in the water when you get past waist deep. They literally had something for everyone there from hammocks to jet skis...massage to zip line...I just wish you got to zip line into the water. The bar was great and I want to give Sandi a shout out. She was our best bartender on our mini vacation. Would I go back...yeah...is there some place better...maybe. Hope this review helped and don't forget your sun lotion!

Awesome beach with crystal clear water and white sand as far as the eye can see ⛱️
Thomas Zwickl — Google review
Really nice beach, white sand, calm waters, great for swimming. There are a few bars with sunbeds to rent across the shore. Apart from Pirate's Cove though - a stylish beach bar + actives centre - which had plenty of people, the rest of this beach is pretty quiet. You can go for a good a walk and take really good shots. I'd definitely recommend for families given the quietness of the beach but still having a few options for good and drinks.
Emerson Loureiro — Google review
The locals were super friendly and made $10 coconut /pineapple alcoholic drinks and offered lobster tails for $25 a plate. I had the fried Red-snapper for the same price, it was nice to eat fresh local food by the beach. They had tables and umbrellas set up and made it easy to eat comfortably with music playing in the background.
Yummy Licious — Google review
Beautiful and busy beach especially during peak cruise ship tourists time. We were not part of the cruise ship hence stay way long after and we got the beach to ourselves. It’s as beautiful as Gold Coast Rock beach when it’s not busy. Water is shallow and calm. We get to see fishes very close up to shore. Others complaint about paying an entrance fee, that is, if you want to be able to enjoy an exclusive section of the beach with other paying tourists. The beach is public, you don’t have to pay a fee to get in. You are at a tourist trap hence will also pay tourist price beverages.
Melinda Hopkins — Google review
I could have stayed here longer! This was a carnival excursion. The bus ride was not long. Even though we came in November and the water was a little cold it did not stop us from getting in! Food and drink stand were available. Beach umbrellas and chairs were available. Bathrooms were clean. I would come back!
Jenny H — Google review
Great local beach. With all the chairs and the shuttered hotels and unkept beaches I imagine this place gets crowded when cruise ships dock for more than 3 hours. They charge for everything ( eg entering the beach, chairs, food drinks, umbrellas, etc.)

The Bahamian Brewery is a charming little establishment that boasts of a fantastic tasting room. Unlike typical American tasting rooms, it offers a unique experience where visitors can sample all their delicious beers. Although the brewery tour may be brief, lasting around 15 to 20 minutes at most, it's still worth trying out since they produce an excellent selection of beers - Sands beer being one of the favorites.
Guided tour of the brewery, liquor store inside. Sands lite Beer my favorite. See how the island brewery makes a favorite beer of ours in the Bahamas. At the end we got to try all the different kinds they brew. Fun little outing, you should check it out.

Sailed on the Margaritaville at Sea. Docked in Freeport, took a shared van taxi to Sands Brewery. Did the tasting tour, was drinking beer at beer 30. (It's five o'clock somewhere). They were not in production the day we went, but you can tour a live brewery and see how they brew beer in the Bahamas. Using water from a Bahamian Spring, and imported malt, barley and hops imported from Germany. A Must Do for beer lovers. Taste 6 different beers made by the Sands Brewery. LIKE High Rock, Stout, Sands light. Awesome place, stop by on your way back to your ship, buy a case of Sands, support a local Bahamian Brewery. #sandsbahamianbrewery

Our group of 4 went here for the tour. Such a fun time! The tour didn't take that long but then at the end you get to taste all the different beers they make. All were good and the staff is so fun! It's also a liquor store. Highly recommend stopping by :)

Great little brewery - nothing fancy, but they have a great tasting room upstairs. Its very different from a normal American tasting room experience. The brewery tour is rather short - maybe 15 or 20 minutes max, but the tasting room is great because you are able to try all of their beers. Its not a big tasting room, but its quaint. Its not a lounge type spot like an American brewery. There are no games or other activities. The point of the tasting room is to just try their beers. And downstairs is their beer and liquor shop as well as their gift shop.

Great place. Service and food quality left absolutely nothing to complain. Portions are plenty and prices very reasonable in comparison. The grilled seafood plate is highly recommended! Will definitely be back.

This place is fairly priced for the area. Plenty of seating inside or outside in the shade. The menu has a large selection of authentic Greek items with a few non Greek options as well. There are some lunch sizes and dinner specials. There is a bakery attached that you need to get some treats at. If eating outside watch out for the pigeons.

My FAVORITE restaurant in Freeport. They have everything you may ever want. The waffles and home fries are yummy. The shrimp and conch alfredo pasta was delicious. Their conch fritters are to die for here. They serve Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.. you won’t be disappointed!

Outstanding service and the food is really good. You get a lot of food for your money. Pricing is reasonable, and everyone was very nice. We ate breakfast twice here, ate lunch and several dinners. I have included their menu with their current pricing and abundance of options. Their restaurant is in the Lucayan Marketplace. Within walking distance from the Pelican Bay resort where my husband and I stayed.

We had different lobster dishes and both were amazing in quality and flavor. Service was great and prices were reasonable. Highly recommend if you're staying in Freeport

The food we had was very tasty, we wanted to come back, but only had a week in The Bahamas. The locals certainly ate there. Our server wasn't very attentive, but others would stop by. The pictures hanging on the walls made me want to visit Greece. Pricing seemed relatively inexpensive. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating.

We are their twice on our vacation. Absolutely delicious, Greek and local food. Get the steak, the Islanders say it's the best on the island.

The food was off the chain and the service was fast and friendly. The atmosphere was really nice inside and outdoor seating. The prices was cheaper than Nassau for such an upscale place.

Best Carribean food ever...in a Greek restaurant in Freeport, Bahamas! I know it sounds crazy, but the Cracked Conch plate with mouth watering beans & rice & plantains sent me soaring into the Azul skies above the planet! Be sure to ask for a side of Johnny Cake. Oh yes, life is good!

This place had the best coffee! My friend and I both ordered iced vanilla lattes and they were delicious, perfectly sweetened and the best authentic coffee taste. Dwight was awesome and so helpful and funny! and the cheese danish was so tasty!

This is my first time here as I have been to Freeport prior to COVID. Though COVID & Hurricane’s have a decline to the area Zorba’s makes up for it! The conch was fantastic! The octopus was delicious and everything was fresh. Though the restaurant could use some better cleaning and I understand the salt water affects certain things. I will be back here! I recommend this restaurant to everyone!

Really good food for a decent price. Service was excellent! I got the salmon which was cooked perfectly. My wife got the falafel wrap which she enjoyed. The beans and rice wasn't the tastiest. My coffee was awesome! We even got a little sweet treat on the house. Will definitely recommend.

Very friendly staff, Best meatloaf we ever had!! Home cooking taste better than the Greek food. Gyro was good. Cheese sticks were very good - light and crispy and the Frappuccino was like a delicious dessert!

The Flying Fish GastroBar offers excellent seafood dishes at a more expensive price point, but the quality definitely justifies it. The restaurant has an outdoor dining area and specializes in seafood.
Ridiculously good food. We would have eaten the entire menu if we could have. If you like gin, chat with the owner. She is a wealth of knowledge and has some unique options on hand. We cannot wait to go back.

This is a must try place. All there good came out amazing! I loved the ahi! Their coconut rice, mac n cheese is a must for a side. Service always seemed slow or they just give you plenty of space. When they are there, ask for everything you need. Also know tip is added but it's shared tip. Adding extra if you enjoy your service is highly suggested.

The food was great and the view unforgettable I love this place, I little bit expensive but once a month it is the perfect time. My favorite is the Mikey pizza. Didn't like much the tempura Tuna.

Highly recommend this Restaurant. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. For our entrées we had the Fish Burger, and Lobster Linguine, both delicious. The dessert - Guava Duff Bread Pudding was simply out of this world delicious!

We ordered the Jalapeño poppers, and stoned crab and Rangoon for appetizers. Very good! Next we had the rib burger, Swiss burger, cheese burger and fish and chips. The burgers are huge and the fries are even bigger. The fish and chips was a very nice amount also. We all took leftovers home. The drinks were good sized and they did not skimp on the alcohol either.

Location Location is what I like most of this restaurant. Right on the water, nice flow of winds on the deck. That coconut rice with the curry chicken was delicious Also, the spicy tuna dips was also as others mentioned; the bacon 🥓 mac and cheese 🧀 is where it at!.. Will highly recommend you make a reservation before going

One of the best classy restaurants in the Grand Bahama island. Service was excellent and food was tasty. Very nice terrace, inside is nice too.

We have eaten at many places around the island while vacationing here every year. Flying Fish is, hands down, the best place to get an excellent meal. The food is priced appropriately for the type of dishes you receive and the service and staff are impeccable. I’d personally recommend the Tempura Tuna as well as the Sweet Chili & Ginger appetizers.

I had an absolutely delightful experience at Flying Fish! Rebecca is an amazing host and Raphael is an exceptional waiter, ensuring that every guest has a good time. The food was simply outstanding, with a wonderful range of tapas that were both delicious and beautifully presented. Each dish was bursting with flavor and made with the freshest ingredients, clearly showing the passion and creativity of the chef. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, and the service was exceptional - attentive and friendly without being overbearing. Overall, it was an unforgettable dining experience that exceeded my expectations in every way. I highly recommend Flying Fish to anyone looking for an amazing meal and a great time. They were having live music on Sunday but I don’t know if it is occasionally or regularly.

Great service by an attentive staff. Tapas selections were great. Lamb ribs I would recommend. I ordered them twice! Piri piri shrimp were very tasty. Good cocktails.

The restaurant is located on one of the canals and has indoor and outdoor seating both with views of the water. The staff were also friendly but I felt the food was a lacking. I got pasta Primavera and I was not thrilled with the vegetables they chose to use and the flavor. It was sour 😳. They were very generous with the lobster but it was extremely over cooked and rubbery.

This restaurant is a must dine at while in Freeport Bahamas. The ambience is wow and the food is most definitely delicious, pretty well everything on the menu looks and tastes like wow! The fish bites were crispy and good portions, the chicken wings were quite good as well but the lamb ribs were out of this world good. The staff was friendly and accommodating and the chef knows how to put food out in a timely manner even when packed. Nice wine selection as well. Will be coming back here again tonight.

This was such a great choice for dinner. The food was incredibly delicious. Everything we ordered was exploding with flavor. The Grilled Calamari is a definite to order again. The Charred Octopus was also perfectly cooked and tender. The surprise dish and show stealer was the Spicy Beef! My wife loved the Mango cocktail. Everything with this experience was topped by a SUPERB young lady providing Class A service!!! Thank you "Mani"! You don't want to miss this experience or the beautiful view while dining at the Flying Fish GastroBar.

Beautiful spot, good for date night or a party group. The food was delicious. Only problem is they cannot handle a busy night. We arrived at 8pm we got our drinks ordered 3 app. 1st arrived 20min. Other 2 arrive 1hour 30 min later. We came for their famous Monkey Bread with tuna but the machine broke. Found that out an hour later. Lol finally got our main course at 10 pm. Will go back just to try the bread.

This was the best place we ate during our brief stay on Grand Bahamas. The food was delicious! We both got fish burgers (one special and one off the normal menu), and they were both great. The fish was fresh, and cooked just rite. Also surprisingly the fries that came with them were much better than I would expect as just a standard side (I did get the truffle fries which are an upgrade, but they were amazing). The portions seemed very generous. The location is quite nice, with both indoor and outdoor seating right on the water. We sat indoors, and I could see tarpon swimming around right next to me until it got too dark. The only downside is that the food was on the expensive side. However, from what we could tell, all food on Grand Bahamas seemed pretty expensive, but this place was worth it.
Gavin Whiteaker — Google review
The food was delicious. Out of everything we ordered only one thing was not to expectations and that was the buffalo Brussels sprouts. They over did it with the sauce. But we liked it so much we came a second time to dine before we departed. Make reservations, and you have a choice to sit outside. The weather was excellent to enjoy dinner by the water.

Pier One is a restaurant located west of the Port Lucayan marketplace in the Bahamas. It offers a wide range of sushi, including unique options like the Latino Roll and Explosion Roll. The restaurant also features shark feedings as an added attraction. Visitors can enjoy drinks while observing sharks from the patio and taking in the beautiful sea view. The atmosphere is described as priceless, with a small beach available for swimming when the waves are calm.

This is a great place to walk of the cruise ship and have drinks. Located on the water, you'll see sharks off the patio and enjoy the beautifully sea. There is a small beach to swim if the waves are calm. Why spend $60 for cab rides, spend I it here and drink and enjoy. Keisha is warm and friendly and you'll feel at home. Island vibes without having to work for it! Highly recommend.

Food: Absolutely amazing. Clearly crafted by experts, highest quality food we had our whole trip! Seriously, high quality pasta. My dining partner compared it to pasta in Italy, and that's high praise from her! Service: Excellent! Very kind and sang us happy birthday. Atmosphere: Priceless! The sharks alone are worth the visit. If we weren't already planning to come back to the Bahamas, we would be for this restaurant alone!

What a calm and peaceful lunch my wife and I had. I absolutely recommend the calamari and crab cake. We had the shrimp for lunch but really everything looked amazing and if it tastes anything like the shrimp you won’t go wrong. You come for the food but stay for the serenity.

We walked off the margaritaville cruise just to see the coastline and were pleasantly surprised to find this local spot. Their sushi is beautifully prepared. Drink prices are cheaper than the cruise. The staff is super friendly. If the ship crew eats here, that says something, right? Bull sharks swim right off the deck. The waves splash high onto the deck. Better than any excursion.

We snuck onto their large patio overlooking the ocean before they opened and watched the sharks circling the bar waiting for feeding time. My first time seeing a shark. Ever. And in the wild. Pretty exciting for me 😀

We heard of this restaurant through an employee at the resort we were staying at. The sushi was delicious and the service from our waiter was very attentive!!! Wine choices were nice as well! We were seated outside and experienced the shark feeding!!! Amazing to see them so close and not in captivity. Thanks for the great memories :)

Getting to dine on the beach to see sharks is so unique! Really loved the atmosphere and was our main draw. Food was also pretty good, paying prices for tourist area. Recommend chicken Parmesan, sushi was a little too fishy compared to others, stir fry very good

We went on a non cruise ship day and were the only lunch customers. Food was good! The burger, fish sandwich, fish fingers and sushi were all excellent and good value for the price. Our waitress didn't seem to be having a good day but she was attentive. The place was very clean and the view was wonderful.

Banana Bay is a popular restaurant in Freeport serving delicious Caribbean food and seafood. The outdoor patio is located on Fortune Beach and the restaurant offers quality food at a reasonable price. There is also parking available, wheelchair access, and table service.
Once you find yourself adjusted to Island time there is no better place to go than Banana Bay to sit back and enjoy good food with an even better view! Sitting out on the deck overlooking the beach and bay is breathtaking. The service runs on island time so you will need to be patient if you are not used to that. The conch fritters are delicious! They serve their Lemonades and Teas in large carafes! Make sure to check this place out when you find yourself on Grand Bahama!

Our server was the one who made this place. He went above and beyond, running and kept checking back to give up dates of when the food would be ready. He even gave us banana bread on him for the wait. The food was better than most restaurants we had been to so far. Best service and the gratuity isn't added to the check so make sure you tip well to these hard working waiters.

This place is beyond wonderful. Everything is delicious and food is served pretty fast. Whatever you need is there. From cocktails, to fresh fish and amazing view, shells, and gin clear ocean and soft sand. Once the low tide hits, this is the most beautiful beach with sand banks and photo ready background for your vacation pics. Highly recommend due to very friendly staff and hands on owners. Friday nights they are serving dinner and it sure is a must go destination. And those sunsets!

Banana Bay was amazing! We went on an excursion from a Carnival Cruise. Make sure and take your snorkel & goggles. That dark area is grass, and not a drop off. It's only waist deep way out there. Lot's of shells out there. We were kinda worried about taking them back on board the ship, but nobody said a thing. Just be careful taking a conch shell back on board, as he's probably still in there and would stick up your room pretty quick. Amazing beach day! We'll definitely do it again if we are over this way.

Food was pretty delicious! The service a little slow, but it's the island life here and vacation is supposed to be a little slower and relaxed! Beach was well taken care of, a bit of seaweed and lots of coral but no trash, white sands and chairs available for a fee ($5)

Great beach spot, great hospitality, great food. Walked on beach to Banana Bay from resort. Conch fritters served hot, Sands served very cold. When we needed to get back to resort quickly, owner Daniel took time to drive us himself, very gracious!! Will definitely stop again on our next visit to Bahamas.

Cute and wonderful restaurant right on a secluded beach next door to Fortune beach. We intended to go Fortune beach but had lunch here and ended up staying to enjoy a quiet peaceful day on beach in back of restaurant. Food is delicious, decent size portion, friendly service, and price is reasonable especially on tropical drinks. You’ll get two drinks here compare to one at Taino beach bars and restaurants. We enjoy the the quiet and super shallow water on back of this restaurant. Shallow water stretches very far out to some sea grasses and then more. We saw some huge live conch on this beach but no fishy.

Rustic, beautiful wooden bar on the beach just outside Freeport. Go after the cruiseship day tourists leave around 3pm and it's magical. I made my wife to promise we'd go before we ended our trip...totally worth it 😀

This was a stop on our Beaches & Caves excursion off of a cruise. The staff was friendly and the food was good. The bathrooms were a bit soggy and there wasn't enough seating on the beach for the bus loads of people they had coming in. If they fixed those two things this would easily be a 5-star review.

Bar
Sabor Restaurant & Bar is a seafood restaurant located on the Pelican Bay Hotel property in Freeport, Grand Bahama. The restaurant offers a fusion menu with many options, and service can be slow. However, the food has been generally enjoyed, and the surrounding environment is simply amazing.
No complaints, this was a solid choice. I had the house salad and habanero honey wings, and my dad had fettuccine with chicken and mushrooms. The wings were just spicy enough to where I couldn't finish the last one. I was fine eating the meat on the wing, and then I would kick my fingers and get a whole mouthful of spice! I also had the banana daiquiri which was delicious.

Date night Well no one expects a Chilly night a island. Restaurant is outside, they had a heater. Service was quick. Food was delicious. We ordered 2 wings as apps because the last Restaurant took long with our main, but our main came fast. We had to carry home main dish. But there is always room for dessert, shared. Place gets very busy so come early. They have plenty of space, though.

I don’t really write reviews for restaurants, but tonight’s service was terrible. I begged and convinced my mother that I wanted Sabor tonight and even offered to pay. We called the restaurant at 8pm and placed an order for Pumpkin and squash soup, conch chowder, one of their mushroom hamburgers and a house salad with a side of truffle sauce. We were told that they were out of the pumpkin soup so we discarded it from our order and was told that our food would be ready in 40 minutes. We also wanted to confirm the closing time which was 10:00. We called at 9pm to confirm if our order was ready for pickup and they told us that it wasn’t ready as yet. We then called back at 9:30 and they told us that we could come for our food. Upon arrival at the restaurant, I still had to wait for my food to come out, not to mention, the restaurant was empty. Once I got my food, the server told me the restaurant ran out of conch chowder. Annoyed, I still took my salad and burger because I was hungry. When I opened my food, I noticed that my chicken was very dry and unseasoned, the fries were burnt, the burger was dry and had 2 small mushrooms on it and the truffle sauce tasted like blended white onions and cream. My mother and I will not be eating at this establishment anymore and wouldn’t suggest it to anyone. Furthermore, the service over the phone was mediocre and the to go lady showed no hospitality towards us.

The service is very slow even when the place is almost empty. You mostly feel unwelcome. Can't seem to get any order right... They forgot the alcohol in our drinks twice?? Asked for gluten free options and chose accordingly but received food with apparent gluten anyway. We stayed at the Pelican for 2 weeks but never went there after the second night.

Terrible!!!!! We were waiting 30 minutes for a waitress. Nobody came. Started waving, then, who was cleaning the tables approached and asked, “You guys ready???!!” Absurd. Another 20 min was waiting for drinks. Ok, we ordered food, then another waitress came and told me they were out of it. The food was alright and so expensive, nothing special. Pasta with shrimps has only 4-5 shrimps, and whole plate pasta for $32. Ok, then they brought us the bill. Thankfully, we checked because we were double-charged burger for bottled water instead of tap water. We waited to fix bill twice each time for 10 min. Disaster!!! I did not wanna leave a tip at all, but they charged us 15% for this terrible service.

6 pm reservations, first thing from the waitress, she tells us all the menu options that were not available. About half the menu . The food we ordered was good, no desert available. Was there 3hr and 15 mins slow service, attitude from service staff. $220.00 for 4 people, I'd expect better service.
