Topper's Rhum Distillery

Mentioned on

Alcohol manufacturer
Topper's Rhum Distillery, located in St. Maarten, is a small-scale production facility that offers an intimate tour experience for visitors. The rhum produced here has been recognized as the USA Today World's Best Tasting Rhum and is handmade with precision on-site. One of the highlights of a visit to Topper's is the opportunity to sample an extensive range of flavors - over 25 varieties have been tasted by some visitors!
What a great experience. Not only on the Rum great with a stunning amount of flavors to try - yes we tried over 25. The food is also not to be missed. We were here from a Cruise tour and the tour description did not do this place justice. This is a must do if you're on St Maarten.
Christopher Brown — Google review
We popped in here without any kind of reservation and were able to book a tour! It was $33 USD per person, and they take credit card. We also were able to get in and out of their restaurant in 20 minutes (their BBQ sauce is amazing!!!), and we sat right next to the water and enjoyed a refreshing breeze. The tour is 90 and includes tasting like 15 rhums, eating small bites with the tasting, a demonstration of the bottling, and a quick explanation of the history of rhum, of Topper, and of the distillation. The gelato is also delicious 😋
Mariah MacDonald — Google review
This place was great! It’s a small production facility, very intimate. Our tour guide was great! We were running late, she called us to check in on us and welcomed us on the tour when we arrived. They gave us as many tastes of different flavors as we wanted! And they have hundreds of flavors! It was great fun! Highly recommended!
Brennan Hawken — Google review
The passion fruit gelato was good and the cup sizes are pretty small but that’s fine since our group was looking for a small treat. Fun place
Johnathon America — Google review
So much fun! A great experience, coupled with the best 'Rhum Guide' ever - well worth the short cab ride from either the airport or cruise port. Had a chance to taste 20+ different blends and variations. All well worth it!

Great place to visit. You can sample all different varieties of rum. They process, package it there. Great souvenirs. The ice cream is wonderful.
The Traveling Foodie — Google review
10/10. Candice was our tour guide and she kept things very fun and lively we had such a blast and was able to meet Mr.Topper himself and his daughter! They are pleasant people. We left with a lot of bottles 😂 the flavors are great. The shots aren’t full shots but after the amount of shots you’re given you definitely get a small buzz haha

Had a fantastic time during this tour at Topper's Rhum Distillery. Cristina was our guide and was a marvellous host. Funny, informative and very interactive with the group with personal touched which made it all the more fun to be there. The Rhum was delicious in all the varieties they had to offer. Highly recommend this to anyone interested in Rhum culture, or anyone looking for a fun and informative activity!

This is a multi level review. Highly recommend making this one of your stops if you’re visiting SXM. Do the rum distillery tour. If you do, not only will you get to taste about 15+ flavors of rhum, you also get a 15% discount at the on-site restaurant after the tour (at any time; doesn’t have to be same day). They also have a wonderful refill program if you purchase a bottle. You can refill your bottle with any rum for a discounted price. Just a heads up: if you come during the slower season, you can likely do a walk-in for the distillery tour. They close the tickets online an hour in advance of the scheduled time but can do a tour of up to 30 people so can be worth checking availability eve. If you can’t book in advance. Even if alcohol isn’t your thing, they have delicious restaurant on site (I got the lobster special 🤤) and gelato

Great place to try various rums. You can two type of tasting. Local tasting is $5 and signature rum testing is additional $5. They all have great frozen drinks for $7. You can also buy pound cake 🎂 with rum. Definitely highlight for our trip. Highly recommend this place.

Did the tour and also bought a few bottles. Great experience, and great tasting rum. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the island who enjoys rum.

Do the tour! Have lunch! Great tour guide, very knowledgeable of the rhum and history. Surprising history shared and a lovely presentation of rhum that can be used for a cocktail, cooked with, and used to clean your hands (their rule). Great for singles and couples.

Did the rum distillery tour and it was such a fun birthday experience! Our tour guide was so great to talk to and learn from. The infused items we got to sample were great too like the chicken and gelato! YUM. Bought a bottle to go home with!

Carlos gave us an incredible tour of Topper's Rhum! We had fun learning about the Rhum making process, tasting Rhum samples, and cooking with Rhum.

Topper's is a first rate restaurant and rhum distillery! The food was scrumptious and the wait staff was very friendly and responsive. Julia's rhum tour exceeded all expectations as it not only provided professional and knowledgeable information, but also included her friendly, bubbly personality. Loved the plentiful rhum samples. Topper's is a "must do" for tourists and residents!

We come to SXM annually, as we have done for many years; however, we have never toured Toppers. This is a tour well worth taking. Cristina was our guide, and she was excellent. She kept everyone engaged and gave a very informative tour. I highly recommend it. A good break from the sun and a lot of fun.

Kim Sha Beach is a picturesque shoreline that boasts an array of water activities including jet skiing. The beach also features several amenities, such as restaurants and bars, as well as a playground for children. Visitors to the area can rent chairs from local vendors and enjoy delicious food and drinks while taking in the stunning views of the ocean. Kim Sha Beach provides a less crowded alternative to other nearby beaches, making it an ideal destination for those seeking a peaceful getaway.
The CALMEST AND SAFEST Beach for kids.. we as parents worry.. this beach is glass based on the curve of the very small bay. NO WAVES and you can jog in the water... Spent a week looking for calm waters and finally it was where I was living.. will definitely make it home base for future visits.. I have no reviews on the Miami Style Roxy, with loud EDM Music blaring, but they are secluded to the right and out of view.. Buccaneer is on the left side.. I walk past the huge restaurant row.. and head to the beach... Enjoy!

Nice beach with water sports, kayaking, diving, restaurants, bars and toilet facilities. The beach is kept tidy by the businesses based along it. You can hire beach chairs and umbrellas. Plenty of car parking in the local area.

Wonderful beach, chairs and umbrellas available, lunch at the small cafe was great. Water, of course, was perfect.

We got to enjoy staying at this beach well our ship was doctor at Phillipsburg. The great news is that we rented chairs from Carlos on the beach and then got some lunch and drinks from Damion at the Greenhouse. Both provided us with excellent service and great local recommendations. Our stay at the beach would not have been fun without them. It was great going to a less crowded beach than where everybody else from the ship seemed to be going and the view and beach were perfect. Based on our experience, we want to stay at Kim Shaw beach with a longer term vacation just on the island in the very near future thanks to our knowledgeable and helpful locals.

Came here with a Disney Cruise excursion, it was just a short drive from terminal. The beach was nice the waves were small. Great for the little ones and older ones alike. Had a great time.
Paul Peters — Google review
I’m not sure I want to leave a good review for this beach. If word gets out, it may not remain the gem it truly is! We ended up here for the day when docked in Phillipsburg. Carlos got us set up on a set of chairs with an umbrella for the day. A great host, he helped us hunt and gather provisions from The Greenhouse, then helped us get back to the ship by calling our driver so we didn’t have to use roaming/international minutes on our phones. The views were spectacular, water perfect for swimming, and best of all – we were one of only a few people who were able to enjoy the day.
Stephanie Latta — Google review
Small beach but a relaxing place. Parking is by the dive shop and there is usually plenty of space. It’s $15 per beach chair unless you order food and/or drinks. Then they’re free.
Anthony Lerro — Google review
Dogs are allowed on the beaches on the Dutch side, hurray! We take our two dogs almost everyday around 4pm. There are fewer people at that time and we are able to throw a ball down the beach and let the dogs run. There are several trash cans sat out which helps keep the beach and ocean clean. There are restaurants and you can rent lounge chairs and umbrellas. There are parts that have a lot of seaweed and grasses in the water, but it is not stinky and they water is clear. Large parking lot too.

If you find yourself in Sint Maarten, be sure to check out the Simpson Bay Fish Market. This bustling shopping mall offers a wide range of culinary delights that will surely satisfy your taste buds. The food selection is diverse and impressive, featuring an abundance of fresh fish and produce that will tempt even the most discerning palates. There was a wrong understanding that the police was closed... Back up and running full strength.. check out my video!.. everything is fresh caught right here.. to have the mahi-mahi.. shellfish.. and two lobsters left.. but this was late on a Saturday afternoon, almost 1:00 please come down and say hi to the lovely people and support the local fishermen.. blessed!

Quito Raphaela — Google review
Very friendly. You cannot go by the posted hours in Google. It all depends on how the fishing has been going, which depends largely on the weather. Really windy conditions seems to limit the catch. Call first. Arriving early (7ish) is better than late morning.
Papi 3462 — Google review
Went twice to buy snapper at 6 in the morning and they didn't have it.

Good place to buy fresh fish to cook at your place. We had strawberry grouper and it was delicious. Wanted to get a lobster but too rough seas for the fisherman. Maybe next week.

Wonderful place to visit if looking to taste different cultures blended with St. Maarten's own specialities. In the fish market Very early in the morning you can experience the sale of fresh fish caught by local fishermen.

If you are on Sint Maarten make sure you visit. The food variety is phenomenal with fresh fish and produce to tempt the tastebuds. You have to visit Roxy's Corner and check out the Johnny cakes. The owner and her husband are warm, friendly people who put you at ease . The food is great with generous portions so sit for a while and take in the pier atmosphere or take it away. You will be pleased.
Mark Earle — Google review
Wonderful fresh fish, prepared and fillet for you. As with many establishments the local ladies aren't terribly friendly, but they fillet the fish nicely and quickly, and the prices are very reasonable. Great way to enjoy the local seafood without paying an arm&leg at the restaurants.
Matthew Morgan — Google review
To all fellow adventurers(and seafood lovers), If you are visiting St Martin and you are close by Simpson bay you might as well enjoy some local fresh catch.. We visited the market about 9am in the morning while doing our morning tour and there was a selection of fresh red snapper (small), local jack fish and some other. I got 4 snappers which cost $1 each and $1 to the lady cleaning it. We were in a VRBO condo, so I fried it(salt and pepper) in a pan and believe it or not it was gone along with some freshly squeezed lemons in a flash(Wait, this was a fish?). If you like/love fish you have to try this(fresh/healthy and money saver).

Super refreshing and fresh coconut water and the jelly coconut meat the kind owner opens up after consuming the water is just so good!

Francois (and Walker) were AMAZING!!! We stayed not too far away, and he would spot us on our daily walk, offering ways to help and making sure we enjoyed the island! Aside from hospitality, this is the only place to find the quick convenience of a fresh coconut on the island. Anddd since it was my birthday, I didn't pass up the chance for the extra gin :) definitely something to try! After great conversation, we had our coconuts split in half and enjoyed them under the sun! I look forward to returning back to sxm and trying many more options to come! Also - Francois is the plug!! We are vacationing here from So. CA. The people at St. Mary's were warm and welcoming and the priest's homily was uplifting and full of common sense. The musical accompaniments were familiar songs put to a Caribbean beat. They even sing a love song for all visitors. Very enchanting. This is a wonderful Catholic church and a memorable experience for us. We love you right back, St. Mary's congregation!

Sale e Pepe is the perfect place to enjoy an Italian feast while overlooking Simpson Bay Bridge and Marina in beautiful St. Martin. The restaurant has a moderately priced menu, making it great for a casual night out with friends or a romantic date night.
Just returned from St Martin 10 day stay. Went here twice. Just an amazing dinner and experience. Eggplant was absolutely delicious. Thin sliced and sauce was so good I took some back and made sandwiches for plane home. Gnocchi w Gorgonzola sauce was superb which is one reason I went. They make them light. Husband had Red Snapper and loved it. Highly recommend. It’s always a must on our trip. 30 years going to St Martin and we look forward to Sale and Pepe🥰

The food was great here, but it's the service that killed everything. Their was only 1 waitress to about 10 -13 tables. Seems to be a pattern in sint Maarten but I loved the good except for my creme Brule. I'm grateful for them taking it off the bill but I was shocked as most people recommend it
Omo Agans-Oliha — Google review
I really want to rate this place a 5 because everyone else enjoyed the meal. The special was wahoo and while the presentation and service were top notch, the fish was way over cooked. I'll also add that better atmosphere can be had just down the street for much less. The pictures are the appetizers we shared.
jay cooke — Google review
Exquisite, excellence, extremely edible, hit all of the E's. Atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable. They have a really fun birthday song so definitely set someone up in your party with that. Staff is TOP NOTCH all around. Waitress was marvelous, the boss lady was on it and the concierge all around gentleman (Mossimo maybe?) was professional, courteous and did not miss a beat. It is a very, very classy place but they are not snooty about it. The Chef is AMAZING!! Cuisine is delectable and packed with flavor. I had a macaroni (spelled fancier) which is home made daily and it delivered!!! With a garlic/olive oil sauce which had the perfect compliment of sausage and broccoli, also including just the right amount of cheese. Wife had the gnocchi with a marina sauce that had me bugging her again and again for a bread dip (bread was quality as well), BIG compliments to the Chef!! Chef's special dessert capped the meal in a perfect fashion, sat just right with an appropriately heavy pasta meal. I love sweets and can go for super rich, but it doesn't always sit well; but this almond, almost ice cream tasted delicious and sat perfectly.

Very clean and beautiful restaurant with an amazing view of the marina and yachts. We sat outside and had a nice dinner. Staff was friendly and helpful with any questions on the menu. Since it was our anniversary they brought us complimentary tiramisu and lemon cello. Food was delicious and fresh.. they are famous for their hand made pasta!

We left a 15% tip due to our dinner taking a very very long time. Our server was very busy as many servers called out of work. She was very nice. We felt tip was fair. But the person who settled the bill did not and had an crappy attitude towards my partner. Not a good way to leave a restaurant.

Octopus was delicious! Atmosphere was great, right on the water. Our waitress was very nice, we split 2 apps and shared the main meal. She went out of her way to separate the main course into 2 bowls so it was easier to share.
Aleko Petridis — Google review
Too slow, WAY too noisy with big glass windows, nice views of BIG mega yachts, since it took SO long to get our food, we asked them to check on it and we're advised it was coming... then when it arrived it wasn't piping hot - fail. It was pretty good though and by then we were hungry.
Howard Blietz — Google review
It’s Italian food on the marina with a great view of the water and some yachts. The appetizers were great except my octopus I felt was a small portion. The drinks were alright didn’t taste like much alcohol was in them. We all had mixed views on our entrees. I ordered the seafood pasta in the white wine sauce and it was amazing, I was so pleased. My husband ordered the lasagna and he said the red pasta sauce they used was sweet. One of our friends ordered salmon which was undercooked so it had to be sent back to be cooked more. We made a reservation and got seated quickly, but with this restaurant it all depends on what you order if you’ll enjoy your food.

Lee's Roadside Bar & Grill is a family-run restaurant known for its fresh seafood prepared in various styles. The place offers Caribbean lobsters and a variety of local fish options, all cooked to perfection. The atmosphere is lively with live music on Friday nights, creating a fun and vibrant dining experience. Visitors highly recommend trying the yellow fin tuna, which is described as mouth-watering delicious and resembling a big piece of steak.
My boyfriend and I visited St. Maarten a few months ago and glad we made the decision one evening to eat at LEE’S ROADSIDE BAR & GRILL based on a recommendation from a waitress at another restaurant. We were soooooo happy we took the recommendation because let me tell you the food at LEE’S ROADSIDE BAR & GRILL was absolutely scrumptious and the service was top notch. If you visit St. Maarten or you are a local YOU MUST add this restaurant to your list of places to visit...I promise you your tummy and taste bud will not be disappointed. The 1st night we visited we opted to sit at the bar and to our pleasant surprise the bartender, Jordan, was also the owner at this family owned restaurant. He was so friendly and personable which added to our amazing experience. He even gave us our drinks on the house that evening which was very kind. As I write this review my mouth is watering as I reminisce on the meal we had that evening. I had the grilled red snapper with the garlic butter sauce, red beans and rice, fried plantains, and potato salad...let me tell you...DELISH. I remember telling Jordan that I had the best red snapper on my visit to Puerto Rico, well I’ve now added LEE’S ROADSIDE BAR & GRILL to my best red snapper list. I’ll even go a step further and add this restaurant to my best seafood list. I must tell you about the red beans and rice...so yummy and flavorful. FYI when we visited the red beans and rice was served on Tuesday/Thursday not sure if that changed. My boyfriend, who is not a seafood lover like myself, had the grilled tuna with the garlic butter, potato salad, and fried plantains and to this day he still raves about how much he enjoyed that tuna. I tasted his tuna and I'm in total agreement...the tuna was on point. Our initial experience was so awesome that I opted to visit LEE’S ROADSIDE BAR & GRILL for my birthday lobster dinner a couple days after my initial visit and let me tell you Jordan and his staff made my birthday celebration one to remember. Jordan had “our seats” at the bar reserved which was a plus. He had my live fresh lobster waiting for me to pick out and once I picked it out it was cooked to perfection. My lobster was grilled and drenched with the garlic butter, served with the must have red beans and rice, fried plantains, and a side salad. One of the best lobsters I've had and as a seafood lover I’ve had my share of lobsters. Oh let me not forget the OMG scrumptious garlic bread we were served as we waited for our dinner...be sure to order the garlic bread. My boyfriend wasn’t that hungry so he ordered the burger. I didn’t think much of his burger when he ordered it, but what a pleasant surprise. My boyfriend really enjoyed his burger and so did I. I normally don’t order burgers, but I would order a burger from LEE’S ROADSIDE BAR & GRILL. Jordan and the staff even surprised me with a cake and sang happy birthday...it was truly an experience I will never forget. Your St. Maarteen vacation will not be complete without visiting LEE’S ROADSIDE BAR & GRILL...GREAT FOOD, AWESOME PEOPLE, GOOD VIBES. We can’t wait to visit again when we go back to St. Maarten in the near future.

I had the island style salt fish stew, with polenta and fried plantain. The combination was superb, it reminded me of the old time island salt fish dishes I grew up eating. The restaurant was clean overall, the service was friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant. Eventhough the restaurant is located close to a road, the roadside noise was hardly audible. This restaurant is a great choice for island cuisine. Keep up the great work!!!

I was recommended this place and it did not disappoint. The lobster is where it’s at! You pick your own lobster from the tank and they cook it for you. My friends had pork ribs to start, they said they were very good. The grill is right and the front door and smells amazing. The coconut shrimp were very good as well. On a rainy day, this place was a great choice!

Open air restaurant with pick your own live lobster tank. Service was impeccable and food and drinks did not disappoint! We went specifically for the lobster and like any other restaurant that serves lobster, it’s not cheap. Ask what market price is if you’re worried about cost. Fantastic island dinner!

The service and food at Lee’s RoadsideBar & Grill I was EXCELLENT! We ate around 3 while watching television. We started out with Krabby cakes and garlic bread. I ordered the grilled mahi-mahi and all I can say is OMG. My husband had the fresh red snapper and I had a bite and it was Great. Our friends had the fried shrimp and white fish and they had nothing left on their plates. You won’t regret it!!

We decided to try this restaurant while staying at the Simpson Bay resort and were very pleased. It is within walking distance of the resort, just down the hill across from the Atrium resort. We had the crab bites appetizer which was quite good and the kids ordered the ribs (which apparently they are known for) and reported them to be quite good. I had the fish and chips and my husband ordered the coconut shrimp. Service was fast and friendly, there was live entertainment (Friday night) and the food was great!! Prices were pretty reasonable for the island. We'll be back for more. They have a nice variety of local offerings as well as American type cuisine.

Absolute legend on the island ! The food is great. I recommend the yellow fin tuna, ow my god. It looks like a big piece of steak , when you eat it's mouth-watering delicious ! Definitely a place to visit for dinner.

We were hungry for lobster. We had been drinking all day. Saw a sign on the side of the road '$29.99 Lobster'. We were sold. One of the guys in the group talked our waitress into allowing him to pick out the lobsters. He picked the six biggest. And it was 30 bucks a pound, not per lobster. All 6-8 pounders. 1500 bucks later we were taking home doggie bags filled with lobster meat. We got our lobster. Reccomend.

We found this place by chance!…not far from the buccaneer beach bar at Simpson Bay! One of the best parts of the whole experience was being greeted by Miss Nancy, who was our server for the evening. very attentive, warm smile and I felt like she went above and beyond to make sure we were accommodated. Everything was delicious came out smoking hot and our lobsters were grilled and butter up to perfection. The prices for the lobster were about average like everyone else on the island but what really set the experience apart was Ms. Nancy, so if you ever go to Lee’s roadside bar, and Grill. Make sure you ask for the VIP treatment and get Miss Nancy…. thank me later.

This is our first time since they moved to this new location. The place is bigger, nicer. But the food is always top notch. I had a 5.5lbs lobster and it was beyond this world. The service is amazing. Also, same owner since…my first time at this place in the last nineties. It is a must whem you’re on the island. !

Arrived ½hr before closing time (10pm) on a Friday night ! However did get to order Steamed fish dinner. It was good and atmosphere with a small live band was entertaining, patreons dancing.
Marlon W — Google review
The food was absolutely amazing! I had fish and chips and my boyfriend had had the wahoo and both items were very very good! The only thing is this establishment is not on the waterfront like the picture shows. You just see a big white building and traffic so if you're looking for a nice sunset place to eat this is not the place!
Wendy K — Google review
I cannot comment on the soup or garlic bread since the waitress forgot to bring out the appetizers we ordered. Reservation recommended. By 7pm on Friday night, the lobster special was sold out. I wouldn't have known there was a lobster special if it weren't offered to me as an option...then retracted. Local fresh fish options were lovely and prepared perfectly. Carib beer ($3) pairs perfectly with the local fish. Friday night band had a lovely Calypso vibe and sang Bob Marley and Neil Diamond covers. Wonderful ambiance!

Located on the Simpson Bay side of St. Martin, Toppers has a wide variety of food and drinks to choose from. They have outdoor seating if the weather is nice, and they also offer a few TVs for watching your favorite show while you wait. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible and accepts American Express, Mastercard and Visa. Wi-Fi is free to use, making it a great spot to come for some relaxation after exploring the island.
We had an amazing time at Toppers. The dinner and rhum tasting were both fantastic. Everything flavor rhum was outstanding. The rhum cake is to die for. We had the pleasure of meeting Colden, his dad and Mr Topper himself. Great staff and an overall amazing experience. I highly recommend adding this to your itinerary.

Went to Topper's for dinner while staying in Simpsons Bay. Its a cool venue with ice cream and rum for sale in the front and dining and bar area in the back. They had karaoke on while we were there which was nice entertainment while we had dinner. The g.f. and I bothe ordered the chicken parm (they were out of lobster sadly). The chicken was cooked perfectly and tge sauce was amazing. There are lots of options on the menu to suit anyone's choice. Prices were reasonable and service was good. I would recommend Topper's and will return next time I'm in SXM.

Toppers is a great little place in Simpson Bay. Very laid back vibe with great service, food and drinks, and very reasonably priced! Had this drink the bartender created on the fly, Bruschetta, Kamikaze Calamari, Brisket with gravy, and Rum Cake! Oh man! Put them on your list for when you visit.

Nice atmosphere. The windows slide open on both side, providing natural air. Water surrounds the restaurant providing a warming and relaxed feeling. The host was very friendly, asking questions to provide our needs. I ordered the rigatoni with vodka and cream sauce. My pasta was served and and was one of the best dishes I've tasted on the island.

We were here in May and came back on this latest trip in October for lunch. The food was tasty, well prepared, delivered quickly to the table by the attentive bar tender. Susan had the Angus burger and I had the Hot Pastrami, both delicious although it was a bit big for her, I ate the rest. Fries were delicious and the views of the Lagoon were spectacular. I sat looking back at Snoopy Island and Port de Plaisance. We will go back again.

There are certain places that you go overseas and expect to be in a touristy area. This place struck me as one that was just authentically local. The owner walks around and talks to the people and owns several other businesses throughout the island. This location was recommended to us by one of the taxi operators so we went for breakfast. We had an opportunity to sample one of the lunch time and dinner time offerings. The owner invited us to try the beef, mashed potatoes, and carrots dish that he serves. I found this dish was very good and worth a visit to enjoy. While we were sitting there for breakfast, one of the fishermen came in with a huge lobster that we had an opportunity to see and take a picture of it before they prepared it.

Ice creams are soooooo good! We had an ice cream composed of vanilla/ banana/ cinnamon and it was great. They also have rum based ice creams. I liked the peanut butter one. They have over 20 tastes. We had diner at the restaurant. Food is simple. It is correct. Nothing crazy but fine.

Karaoke from Sunday to Thursday. It's a vibe. The drinks are good. The food is ok. There's an ice cream store at the front of the building.

The Gelatoria was good ice cream. Great service and we had to go again. Coconut Mango Coffee or more. Lots of customers coming in. The Gelatoria is part of the restaurant complex, not a separate business to review on its own. So, it's hard to make it for this operation alone. Friendly service and great ice cream. The building is a plus to see from the outside. Enjoy some for yourself!

My filet was just okay, but the restaurant’s ambiance and scenery was amazing. They offer live dinner shows some nights (must make a dinner reservation) and have a variety of drinks made with rhum made in their distillery. Staff was great and very welcoming.

If visiting and in the area, this is somewhere I wouldn’t miss visiting, rum distillery, gelato ice cream, and an amazing restaurant. They have one of the best burgers I’ve ever tasted, it’s also voted Sint martens best burger, it’s all that and then some. Price wise, it honestly should be priced higher especially if you compare it to the American big burger chains which are more money. The staff were extremely helpful, and looked happy to be there. They were very knowledgeable about the rum distillery and helpful. The restaurant staff were really friendly, telling us about past huricanes and the history of the restaurant. Will definitely return before our vacation is over and we are glad we found this gem at the start

A must-visit for anyone visiting the island. The BBQ ribs came highly recommended by our waitress, and I am glad we took the suggestion! We returned on our last night on the island where we endulged even more. We shared the Toppers tuna, then my husband enjoyed a perfectly cooked New York Strip while I had the crab-stuffed mahi mahi. Even though we were full, we had to get dessert. The Chocolate Fix and Da Banana went down easily! If you're looking for a way to curb your sweet tooth during the day, stop up front for some gelato. We also did the distillery tour, and our tour guide, Christina, was fantastic! It was just the right combination of history, the rhum making process, and of course, plenty of rhum samples. We took home quite a few rhum cakes! Last but not least, Topper, the owner, clearly loves what he does, so be sure to talk with him if you get the chance!

First time here since they moved and the food and view were exceptional. Staff was very friendly, service was great, and food was outstanding. The crab stuffed Mahi Mahi 🐟 was delicious. My wife got the hanging filet mignon kabob which didn't disappoint. On the way out the girls tasted and picked up some gelato. 👍🏼

Carol and Dexter provided great service. The food was wonderful! Lobster and bone-in prime rib was tender and juicy! House specialty rum cake or pecan pie for dessert! And don't forget about the rum! So many flavors...

Breakfast restaurant
Zee Best is a popular eatery in Simpson Bay that offers all sorts of delicious food, from fresh juices to mimosas and wonderful crepes. The staff are friendly and attentive and provide fast service. There is also seating available outdoors, as well as parking nearby.
CASH-ONLY ‼️ Really cute little breakfast spot! Stopped to eat before our flight and able to find a seat immediately. Offered a wide variety of menu items compared to most other restaurants on the island. Made to order. Affordable and good portion sizes, similar to American-sized portions. Spent about $30-40 for 2 main plates, coffee, & bottled water. Including 15% service charge. Friendly-service/attitudes towards tourists. Definitely recommend for quick bite to eat! A couple other points: arrived around 930a on a Monday, visited during the ‘off season’ (mid-September), spent 5 days on the island for a birthday week, couple in our late 20s/early 30s.

Consistently the best breakfast in St. Maarten. Was super happy to see this place still in business after 5+ years away from the island. Great outdoor breakfast and lunch spot.

So many good breakfast options here, I had a hard time deciding. But I enjoyed their version of Huevos Rancheros. I also had a blueberry smoothie. The service was good and the food came quick. I will definitely come again and highly suggest this as your breakfast option too.

Great breakfast/brunch/lunch spot. Yummy omelettes and crepes. Pastries are great too but we usually grab those from their bake shop outpost in the mornings. Prices are reasonable for quality, particularly given prices elsewhere on the island.

This was the best place for breakfast during my trip to SXM. The service was good but the food did not disappoint. It did get a bit crowded but there was a good amount of social distancing.

Always looking for good croissants and decided to try them from Zee Best based on the reviews. We ordered takeout and got 3 regular, 2 almond and one chocolate. All were good but not as fresh as expected and did not live up to the hype. We bought them on Sunday morning so maybe they had been made Saturday?

Zee Best was an okay experience with decent food. I like the breakfast menu variety and the prices seemed affordable compared to some. However, the service, the mandatory 15% service fee which was included and the fact that it was cash only, was a big turn off. Not worth the experience in my opinion. I would have rather paid more for better quality at other restaurants. I do not like the included service charge which seems to be popping up more around the island. Passing the cost of labor off on the customer is bad business in my opinion. Glad I tried it but not a top spot on my repeat list of restaurants on the island.

When your name is Zee Best, you need to be able to back it up, and they do not disappoint. I go for breakfast every time I am on the island. I order the shakshuka which is 2 eggs in a mildly spicy tomato and pepper sauce served with baby arugula on top and slices of whole wheat (?) baguette. They serve fresh squeezed orange and grapefruit juice, crepes, egg dishes, espresso, and coffee drinks, and the list goes on, but what truly is the shining star are their pastries which tend to sell out towards noon. My trip is not complete without having one (or 3) of their almond croissants.

Cash only. No cards accepted. Prices were high for what you get. Food was tasty. Asked for grapefruit juice, got orange juice. Ordered a side of potatoes, never showed up. Asked for them again and still never showed up. The charge for them was on the bill. We just subtracted the cost from the overall bill and told the waitress. She said oh I told them you need them, they never came out. Ummm no they didn't. Overall won't go back. Lots of other places for breakfast

My girlfriend and I love Zee Best. This is our third trip to Sint Maarten and it is the number one thing we look forward to every time we come. We have both decided to not even bother with breakfast anywhere else. EVERYTHING on the menu is delicious. The staff are the warmest and kindest people ever. Breakfast and lunch at Zee Best are a must when traveling to Sint Maarten. Pastries are amazing.

Edward was a lovely host recommending the best and making us laugh. My first tuna- fabulous and every dish had great flavor. Really good value too. Highly recommend!

The name made us initially not consider this restaurant, however, after reading the reviews, we decided to give it a try. Nice tapas size servings, good prices and great tasting food. We also really enjoyed the wine we selected. I fully recommend this place, the place is small, most the seating is outside. - also - aforget the name, don’t let it scare you away - the food is worth it.

One table inside taken by the owner. Upon selecting a table, the waitress told us it was reserved at 7:30. and we would be moved to another table if we were not finished by 7:30. We arrived at 6:30. Interesting she thought we would not finish our meal within the hour. We selected a different table. After the waitress took our order, she returned 30 minutes later with our order. The meatballs tasted like they came out of a box. My wife’s tacos were good. We didn’t see the waitress again until we asked her for our check at 7:15. Unfortunately, we cannot say this restaurant is one of great restaurants in St. Maarten

Delicious food and fun cocktails in a strip mall. Some of the best meatballs I've had anywhere. We split a couple apps (tuna tacos, smoked salmon on crispy rice) and two orders of meatballs (beef and pork). Honestly, this was one of the surprises of the trip. So good.

Very good food and prices. I'll be back again on my trip to get a few tapas I didn't have a chance to try. (Edit), came back again and tried a few more items that were delicious. Items are priced around $10 each. The service can be somewhat slow because the tall dude is not very attentive or observant. Food - 5, Service - 3.

Service is great. Menu of very unique tapas, all flavorful. Pictured are: pork balls, truffle fries, chicken tacos and Asian ribs. We had a pitcher of Rose Sangria. All very good. Be mindful though that they serve mainly snacks, so this is not the place for a very hungry customer.

Absolutely magical experience! We went for my husbands birthday and the chef made us feel so welcome, engaging us and sharing stories. The food was absolutely delightful. I recommend getting a taste of everything - meatballs, ceviche, salmon, tacos, and wine!

I’d give 100 stars if I could.. this place is amazing! It’s a family run business so believe me when I say they make you feel like family. Host Eduardo is super nice and friendly, he will pay attention to every detail and listen to your preferences in order to make his recommendations.. they have the best variety of wines and beers from different places that will be a great match to the food you order. I’ve come here many times and have tried almost everything on the menu, there’s not one dish I haven’t liked. Special shout-out to their balls (meat ones obviously :)), they have various kinds of meatballs and different sauces to dip them in, the spicy marinara is my favorite! Also the truffle fries are a must! You cannot come here and not have these… you’ll want more and more! The place itself is beautiful as well, the decoration will keep your eyes busy looking at every single detail on their walls, going from the wine displays to the sings with phrases to make you want more wine :) Long story short: this place is a must! You will have an amazing time, great wine and food, and meet their amazing staff! You won’t regret it! PS: they only take cash so make sure you carry some when you go :) Unfortunately I don’t have many photos.

Incredible food! I could not recommend this restaurant more highly; it was easily the best restaurant that I discovered on the island. The food is beyond delicious and the owner/server was one of the nicest, most pleasant individuals that I have ever come across. I enjoyed my meal thoroughly and look forward to returning when I am in St Maarten next. In the meantime, I will strongly recommend this restaurant to family and friends. Anyone rating this restaurant lower than 5 stars could not be more incorrect. This restaurant is truly phenomenal! It is a must dine for anyone visiting St Maarten
