I really enjoyed my time at El Patio De Mario. I sat at a table outside, but the courtyard inside had a lively and stunning atmosphere. Despite not being very hungry, I ordered the Birria, which is a delicious dark red stew made with either beef or goat for $90 pesos. Alongside it, I had a couple of margaritas that perfectly complemented the meal. The view of the pretty town square added to the pleasant lunch experience. The service was incredibly friendly and attentive.
We really loved this place! We sat at a table out front, but the courtyard inside is super festive and beautiful. We weren't super hungry so we just ordered Birria (a dark red stew with beef or goat $90pesos) and a couple margaritas. All was good and we had a very pleasant lunch looking at the pretty town square. Very friendly service! Cash only.

Ourselves and some friends decided to have lunch at El Patio de Mario today and we are really glad we did. The restaurant is set up like a garden so it provides an escape from the sun and is very welcoming. Like having lunch in a friend's yard. The staff we're kind, efficient and made us feel welcome. The food and drinks were amazing. Hubby had the birria and really liked it. Myself and a friend had the Meat Yard Mario charcoal and it was one of the best things I have eaten this trip..... wonderful spiced barbecued beef in a delicious sauce. Our.other friends had Menudo, Tortilla Soup and Swiss Enchiladas which.they all enjoyed. If you are in El Tuito be sure to eat here. You won't regret it 😀

Nice little restaurant, cute courtyard, good drinks and food. They also sold homemade vanilla by the cashier, great little gifts and way better quality than the tourist shops for a fraction of the cost.

Very welcoming service. The food is traditional Mexican (look at the accompanying menu). However, my tortilla soup was MXP 20 more expensive than indicated on the menu. The statement of the owner was: Apologies but he had given us the wrong menu. The price was increased. He came with a different menu with different prices. I was allowed to pay the low price. I am not concerned with the money but it is a matter of principle. I had such an experience in other restaurants as well. Hopefully it was really a mistake of this restaurant. Lesson: always check your bill in every Mexican restaurant.!

The establishment is praised for its excellent service and delectable food, making it a highly recommended dining spot with an excellent vista.
Located on the top of a hill overlooking the city this is an outdoor dining experience. Our waiters english was very limited but the owner was there to help out. Indoor lodging
Rancho Primavera, located in El Tuito, was recommended by a local guide and exceeded expectations. The property offers well-maintained forest trails, bird feeding sessions, and diverse habitats for birdwatching. Visitors can camp on the stunning grounds with access to facilities such as toilets, showers, and a kitchen. The ranch is home to rescued macaws and free-roaming horses.
We camped in the field of this stunning place. We stayed longer than planned to avoid a heatwave (it's at 2000 ft altitude so it bit cooler) They have a dedicated campers toilet and shower up at the main building where you can also access wifi. There's a kitchen with potable water. Bonnie rescues macaws which are kept in a large aviary. Some are free but stick around - they know when they are well off! There are horses roaming free. Lots of other birds apart from macaws. There are 200 acres in total, we walked one of the trails in the trees. Can only walk early morning or in the evening due to the heat. It's a perfect place to relax and unwind. All the staff are friendly. @grandrovervoyager

I didn't know what to expect. Came on recommendation from a local guide (Alfonso). Spent 3 full days. Made food. Walked the trails 5 hrs or more a day (to be marked soon). Cool groomed forest trails, mowed pastures, morning bird feeding at 8 am. So many habitats to explore. I saw at least 30 different species a day on my own. Antonio (local guide) did a tour with another couple and found even more species. I loved the ponds and rivers and all the maintenance to the property for birding is evident. Had a dip in the pool. Had everything I needed and the host and staff were wonderful! I will come back with friends! The single rooms were delightful with local art and makaws visited me daily on the porch as did the lovely dogs. Horses were beautiful and so healthy and free to roam.
Heidi Eisenhauer — Google review
We visited to hike and bird for the day, not for the lodging. The birds were fantastic and the owners very welcoming. The ranch also runs a nonprofit, so they accept donations at the main house to support their wildlife rehabilitation work.
Justin Watts — Google review
A diamond in the mountains ⛰. Clean and modest accommodations. Great birding adventure, so much to do and learn (check out the macaw rescue center ). It's hard to describe the beauty of the ranch as there is so much to see...birds, flowers 💐, towering trees, creeks. Then there's the quiet tranquility and the magnificent night skies ✨ that make the Rancho so perfect. Topped off by the Hosts and their experience of the area make this the perfect getaway
Lady Oceanna — Google review
Spectacular property in the mountains South of Puerta Vallarta that caters to birders. They have two lovely houses and a smaller casita for rent. You'll see an impressive variety of endemic bird species year-round, as well as many migratory species in season. The ranch has hosted a number of birding groups and would be a fantastic place to hold art, writing or any number of workshops/retreats in this inspirational setting.
Jeff Libby — Google review
An awesome bird sanctuary you can stay at & enjoy lush grounds & many varieties of birds & other critters. An unexpected treat just outside El Tuito.
Michael Frost — Google review
Rancho Primavera is the perfect base for exploring Cabo Corrientes and the historic town of El Tuito. For groups, 4 rooms have en suite bathrooms and include breakfast (and dinner, if desired); for individuals or couples, two lovely houses are available for rent, for a more private and self-sufficient experience. A network of trails crisscrosses the large property, which is a naturalist's paradise! Many very special birds can be found here, including such Mexican endemics as: West Mexican Chachalaca, Golden-cheeked Woodpecker, Citreoline Trogon, Happy Wren, Black-vented Oriole, Blue Mockingbird, Black-throated Magpie-Jay, and San Blas Jay. The ranch is just a few minutes from 16th-century Tuito, which will truly take you back in time. Mae sure you track down the locally made raicilla (tequila-like agave beverage endemic to this part of Jalisco)! A stay at Rancho Primavera will help you escape touristic Mexico for a taste of real Mexico.

This Place is Jewel, Peace, Tranquility, Nature and more nestled in a higher valley near El Tuito. A Perfect place for a quiet getaway from the Bustle. The temperature is cooler, humidity is less. All within fairly easy access. It hard to say enough meaningful words in a short space. Bonnie is a wonderful person caring for the property and land. It could also be a staging point for various day trips to some of the smaller municipalities in Cabo Corrientes.

Ocean Grill Vallarta is a must-visit destination in Puerto Vallarta. The journey to the restaurant itself is an adventure, involving a taxi ride, water taxi, and a short hike or boat trip. Once there, you'll be treated to delicious food and great drinks. The grilled octopus al pastor comes highly recommended, as do the fresh guacamole and tuna appetizers. While it's primarily a seafood restaurant, vegetarians can enjoy options like the quinoa veggie burger.
After a hike that ended up being steeper than anticipated, we were beyond thankful to stumble (quite literally) upon this fantastic oasis for lunch. The octopus al pastor, tuna sashimi & salmon were the best meal we’ve had in the area all week. The mezcalitas were also our favorite. Service was excellent & friendly, dogs well behaved & the views incredible. We were relieved they had a water taxi to bail us out of the rest of our hike. Would definitely recommend.

Stunning view, not great food for the price you pay! Our party of 6 arrived at the Boca de Tomatlan boat port, about 20 min before our reservation time (1:00). The Ocean Grill boat taxi is purple. Don’t stress about thinking your not getting on the boat, they may have to take a group and come back for another. The boat ride to the restaurant is not long at all (10min). When you arrive, the restaurant is perched on the side of a small mountain next to a cove with a very small beach, that you can get to by walking (very cautiously) on the locals make shift board walk. The restaurant itself is beautiful and worth the trip just to experience the views! The food and service however did not meet our expectations. Our waiter informed us that they were out of oysters before we place our order, however after we put in our order, we were told that they ran out of octopus. Very disappointing after you have set your mind on something. I felt the waiter should have apologized, but nope, no apology. We also had to wave him down several times to ask for certain things....serving sizes were very small and pricey. In all it was a decent experience, but could have been so much better if they would change a few things. They also need another toilet! One bathroom for everyone there, so make sure U don’t wait until last minute or you’ll have to wait on the boat to come back!
Nicole Mason — Google review
Over-priced relative to Le Kliff, but a great experience overall. The food is good, although they were out of many items when we visited. The hike is challenging but fun, and a few hours at Colomitos beach before your reservation will make for a great day.

We had the restaurant to ourselves for our 11am booking (we came before high season) and the service and food was amazing. It’s an elevated experience that we’re very glad to have had during our PV trip. The booking was easy through their website and the boat was easy to find at the bocas shore. I would recommend to stay for a while longer than the 2 hours to hang out at the beach, there is another restaurant and you can take an almost hidden walk up the other side of the beach and it takes you to Madagascar beach which is secluded and gorgeous water.

This is our 4th lunch at Ocean Grill, one of our favorite destinations when we are visiting PV. This is quite the lunch excursion, taxi to water taxi to dock and then a good meal in a beautiful location. We started with the fresh guacamole and tuna apps. Not a lot of vegetarian options, since it is a seafood restaurant. The quinoa veggie burger is about it. Tom Sr. Enjoyed the Octopus, Tom Jr. loved the catch of the day, Mahi Mahi. Brenda enjoyed the very large shrimp. We all had plenty to drink, there is a large cocktail selection. This visit we did notice some changes, there seems to be a movement toward more of a commercial operation targeting the larger groups and a permanent menu. There was two large groups during this visit who kept the staff busy so a couple of items were missed during our orders, also very slow response from the waiter. Not the same as our earlier visits, a little disappointed. Hopefully it will all get worked out.

Ocean Grill was absolutely amazing and truly was the topper to our trip. We vacation to Puerto Vallarta frequently and always try to find new things to do, we finally decided to give this restaurant a go as a girls day with my mom, her friend and my 3 best friends that were with us for my 30th birthday. We took an uber from PV that was around a 45 min drive. Once there, 4 of us chose to hike in and the other 2 girls took the boat. We are all very active so the hike was not as challenging as most say but I could see how it can be for some. It was a beautiful hike, although with no signage on where you're going you do have to be mindful of that as some of the trails look like a trail but aren't. The boat ride we were told was easy and quick. We arrived for our pre booked 11am time slot and we were the only one's there for a good portion of that time. Staff was very attentive and helpful. We each ordered something different and nothing disappointed us at all. I see a lot of people being upset about items not being on the menu (they were out of King Crab on the day we visited), however the location to this restaurant is pretty remote...There are other things on the menu that are just as amazing and it gave us a curve to try something new which we happily did. It was beautiful just being there and being in good company. Worth the visit for sure.

The water taxi is cool and the food is incredible. Oddly we were the only people there but that made it even more special. I’d go again. On the pricier side. With some work on the docking area I’d give it 5 stars. Highly recommend.

Amazing views!!! Restaurant sits up on the side of a cliff, overlooking a gorgeous beach and crystal clear waters. Service was ok - they wouldn't split the bill for the 3 parties in our group, even though there was no one else in the restaurant. The food was good but expensive. I guess when you are the only restaurant, you can charge more. :( Careful walking up to the restaurant. Wear shoes if possible. You have to climb over some rocks, walk on a narrow wooden path, and up some cobble stone like stairs, with some areas as rough concrete. Bare foot is possible, but it's a bit of an ouch, ouch, ok, ouch kind of walk. Lol.
Amy Coleman — Google review
The food and the service was good, the view is great. But, not worth the risk of suffering an injury when getting on and off the boat. You can fall or smash your fingers, the stairs to get to the restaurant and to the bathroom are unsafe. If you are willing to take the risk go for it.

This place is amazing! The drinks were great and the food was delicious. Our server was really friendly and gave us amazing recommendations. The owner even took the time to visit everyone's table and make sure everything was good. The grilled octopus al pastor was delicious! A note on the boat to get there: A lot of reviews say that the boat is purple. It is not. It is white and light blue and has "Ocean Grill" painted on the side in big letters. The boat also has no canopy/awnings. The boat does not go every 10 minutes but it will come about 15 minutes before your reservation. We wanted to spend some time on the small island before our reservation so instead of taking the ocean grill boat, we paid $200MXN to get there early on one of the random boats that were at the pier which was great.

Undoubtedly, one of the best travel and dining experiences I had when visiting PV. Do not second guess and head to this restaurant as it is definitely a restaurant I shall never forget and hope to go back to. It is worth all the money spent and more, they have very fair and reasonable prices. Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious and nothing beats the ocean view, it was surreal…
Edelyn Martinez — Google review
The tuna appetizer was delicious as was the guacamole. The catch or the day needed some extra care, the fish was not moist and it needed some sort of sauce, very bland. I did tell the waiter it was bland and asked for a sauce of some sort and I was dropped off two bottles of hot sauce.. would’ve been nice to have something more matching with a delicate fish.. It would be more delicate if they cooked it a little less. My wife had a burger and it was not very good either, pretty dry. I’ve had better frozen burgers. The drinks were very nice and so refreshing with that view. You are definitely paying for the view here as it’s not cheap. We strategically booked our afternoon meal so that we could catch the later (pre-paid) boat ride back to the shore but we were told we had to get back on the boat as soon as we finished our meals. I had fallen asleep on the bus on the way out to Boca and when they took a sharp turn I had took a huge crash onto the floor so I was injured and not able to do the hike back, it’s not there fault obviously but we wish we could’ve been aloud to catch the later boat to enjoy the secluded beach after commuting all that way.
John Jacob — Google review
Amazing experience, amazing views! Really, one-of-a-kind!!! Food was ok. Service lacks quality, attention and there is a lot of room for improvement! Everyone on their cell phones, not attentive, you had to flag them down and watch out if the employees tell you that you can walk over to playa Colomitos, two minutes away, and if you do not pay attention to their panga/boat, they will leave you :( I am not asking for too much, I am comparing what we got with the cost of the experience! However, I am always up to give someone or an establishment, a second chance :)
