Qixingtan Scenic Area

Mentioned on
Promenade
Nature & Parks
Chisingtan Scenic Area is a peaceful and serene waterfront location that boasts a pebble beach, crystal blue waters, pavilions, and bike trails. Visitors can enjoy the Hualien Cultural Creation Park and Hualien Pacific Park, as well as explore the largest night market in Hualien - Dong Da Men Night Market. The unique charm of Rock Beach offers an opportunity to challenge oneself to build towering rock structures while listening to the sound of waves retreating back into the sea.
Around the sunset it is a nice place to sit and see and listen to the waves of the Pacific Ocean.Yhe are some food stands for grilled snacks. There is a military base right behind the beach, so there may be times where jets fly back to base - pretty cool if you like military jets. Even though not very large and not a swimming beach I still say it is a must see for its natural beauty.
Prasad Jayasuriya — Google review
Visited in November 2023: the proximity to the shore induces a sense of wonder and enchantment. The auditory experience of rocks colliding as waves crash is particularly captivating.

Famous tourist attraction in Hualien. If you’re a ocean lover, don’t forget to pay a visit if the weather is fine. Water is so clear and blue, you can even see the gradient (light blue, sky blue and dark blue). With the sun rise, the view just looks amazing
Naiyu Chi — Google review
It had such a beautiful scenery that we could enjoy the sunrise there.
DigitArts 2018 — Google review
Very nice scenics and best place to see sun rise.
Victor Chee — Google review
Beautiful beach. Went there in the morning, 7am. Sadly many stores are closed. But it’s nice that there were not much people. You can see the land, sea and mountain there, in the same frame. Take bus from hualien interchange. But return to hualien, I took taxi as the bus intervals are very long. Very peaceful in the morning, but not much to do there’s other than walking along the beach.
Seah Jia Hui — Google review
Known for the pebbles! I once came 10 years ago, it was mixed feelings when I got to visit again. And again, I forgotten about the small fly repellent, so I brought home lumps & bumps on my exposed areas, very itchy. So my only advice is do come visit but with repellent! It is a stunning beach, highly recommended.
Pei — Google review
Our favorite beach so far. It’s amazing to see clean pebbles everywhere in this beach. My girls had so much fun and we stayed in a hotel facing the beach. Best feeling ever. Try to catch the sunrise if you can
Sue Gan — Google review
Great spot to enjoy the pure sky and the cerulean sea of west pacific. Sometimes might see the aircrafts landed in the air base next to the beach. Take off your shoes to feel the cobblestone with your bare feet. Nice place to visit with your family during the vocation.
Chih-Yu Yang — Google review
Rock beach has a different kind of charm. Instead of building sand castle, you can challenge yourself to build the tallest rock tower. The rock beach always means a different kind of sound as the wave retreat back to the sea. Very lovely place to come in the early morning or late afternoon when the rock is not cooked by the sun. The place is also right beside the airforce base. So you can occasionally see F16 take off with thundering sound right over your head.

Great scenery! Wanted to take a dive in! But the local guide explained us the ocean is dangerous here
chaucheprat nicolas — Google review
Beautiful stoney beach. It is great for sightseeing but not for swimming as the beach is too steep and dangerous.
Hanson Chen — Google review
It’s a beautiful black sand beach filled with unique pebbles. It was far too windy for us to actually enjoy the beach but it was still lovely to look at.
Alisha Maistry — Google review
Qixingtan Scenic Area is a great place to enjoy the sea and the sand, no! They are PEBBLES, which fill the shore in the millions! The currents are stronger in winter and the waves reach the pebbles at unexpected heights. Very friendly for most tourists, it might however be slightly limited for wheel-chaired guests. There are many wild dogs in the area but are mostly harmless. The air force military grounds are on the opposite side of the road.
Samuel Goh — Google review
Super nice beach. Different from other sandy beaches cos its ALL PEBBLES! Walking on the Qixingtan 7 Stars Beach is like a foot reflexology treatment 😁 Beautiful views and super cute stone totems all over. But at the entrance steps there is an extra cute totem made by a small boy. Super like! Plus its a great IG oppo👍🏻

It is nice to see the Pacific Ocean, but I do feel it is a bit over rated. I can get the exact same view and beach at my beach front BnB, and a number of other locations. Waves can be huge very suddenly so do be careful not to walk too close to the water.

If you are coming to Hualien, one of the go-to places. You can reach here by 310 bus. A very calm place. Not many people, you can rent a bicycle or walk.
Saurabh Rawat — Google review
So beautiful and exciting to stand at the edge of the Pacific Ocean watching the waves crash over and over onto the beach. Pebbles are really beautiful. Guide reminded us not to remove the pebbles from the beach.
Teo Siew Kuang — Google review
The Qixingtan Beach (七星潭) is an absolute must-visit when in Hualien. This unique pebble beach stands out against the crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean. The kids ended up playing pebbles stacking. It's a scenic coastal location that you should not miss. There were stray dogs sighted in the area, so be careful not to get too near with these stray dogs.

The area boasts a 4km ring road that encircles the lake and provides pleasant walking/cycling routes.
Highly recommended to bike around this place. Very scenic and relaxing. Fresh air, nice weather, friendly bicycle path and with a great view!

Beautiful place. Quite far from the train station. It takes an hour by public bus. You can also rent a taxi for NT 500 and it takes 30 minutes to reach. The bus frequency is limited and it starts getting dark by 5.30 pm...plan accordingly... A kind aunty in the opposite restaurant helped us book a taxi on our way back.. the people are very nice.
srien sithara — Google review
Beautiful place where you can take a wake or take a paddle / electric boat around the lake. Only wish that the food options were more varied as the stalls all seemed to sell the same kind of food.

We went there on month of July. It rained that day so mosquitos are everywhere. If you want to visit this place dont forget to bring with you anything that can protect you from mosquito bites. The place is good for family. You can rent a bikes, or a pedal boats. On the roadside restaurants are lined up to choose from.

Nice lake with a mountain view. Rented a peddle boat onto the lake but the only problem is the motor boat rental which keeps cutting across the waters making waves. Rental of peddle boat is approximately NTD 200 per hour for 2 seater, NTD 600 per hour for 6 seater & NTD 600 for one roind of motor boat ride around the lake.

Flea & Street Markets
The Dongdamen Night Market in Hualien city is a large street food market located on the eastern coast of the city. It used to be several small night markets, but they have now merged into one. The market features local street food and live performances, creating an energetic atmosphere. Despite being well-organized with permanent stalls, wide streets and a dedicated plot of land, the market lacks the grunginess and character typical of night markets.
Best night market. Clean, spacious, no scooters. There’s a lot of stalls and food options. They also give you a little sticker when you enter and ask you to scan the QR code (covid level 2 measures)
Yulia Balkhanova — Google review
Slightly unique night market in that you can find some aboriginal dishes here. Otherwise, it is a typical Taiwan night market serving stinky tofu, rice noodles, and other usual night market favourites. The place is quiet at first but quickly filled up as the night turns dark. Would suggest to come before 7 to ensure parking and finding a seat at restaurant not an issue. Do not play the soft toy catching machine here. Total rip off! (Even more so than usual if you can believe that!)
Dru Lu — Google review
One of my favourite night market, a few live bands playing music at different section of night market, it is well layout with spacious walkway and lots of stalls. Rubbish bins are easily found as well as big sitting areas for dine in (not restricted to the stalls you buy food from). My favourite food was the crispy pancake with egg bomb and favourite drink is papaya milk (check out my pics for the stall I bought from). 2 stalls which I queued for 20 min each - grilled corn and coffin bread, not exactly to my preference but at least I tried.
Little ES — Google review
There is quite an interesting mix of ethnic food and we especially liked the grilled fish, the xiaolongbao and the grilled Taiwanese sausages, as well as the rice wines. There was no queue at the famous soy grilled corn. There were also a number of games stalls where you can try to win stuffed toys. The location is convenient to most of the hotels.
steven lim — Google review
A good balanced mixture of food and games night market. Varieties of local snacks that are worth trying. They have a designated area for people to sit down and enjoy the food. If you are good with carnival games, no harm try your luck to play and win some stuff toys as souvenirs.
Sandra Lai — Google review
An incredible foodie experience ❤️💯 The biggest night market I have been to so far, there is a wide range of games and things you can do. My dinner was amazing, there was so much variety of delicious food that I was in a dilemma every next food stall I stood in front of. 🙏♥️ Truely an experience to share.

Fun night market. Different to the night markets in Taipei atmospherically; offering seafood, local eats, alcohol and classics. Nice atmosphere however it does not have that natural wild market feeling. Either way nice place to hangout and tune out into the evening. There a places to sit and enjoy your purchases and also many places to play fair games. Enjoy!
Karol — Google review
Amazing night market! It's much more organised than the usual night markets in Taipei. The walking space between the shops is a lot bigger so even if it is crowded it is easy to walk around. The food selection is very good, everything that i tried tasted exceptionally! Definitely worth a visit!
Matthias Kopeinig — Google review
Love the laid-back vibe of the place. Live music and the stalls were more spread out. While we went towards the end of the night, we still had a good time. Tried some food we've never had before, like birds nest fern.

It's the largest night Market I have ever been...you got a variety of food to choose from..plus the awesome voice of those performers.. Perfect for a family bonding..

One of our favourite night markets in Taiwan. Tried a wonderful native stall. Superb bbq fish which cost only ntd 350. It is a huge and delicious fish, and can taste the freshness. All other dishes are nice too. Friendly staff and boss. One of the best local meals on our Taiwan trip.
Corr Lim — Google review
Still one of my favorite night markets in Taiwan. The space is really large and even on a busy day it's not as packed as in others. Also there's in the middle a hill with grass. So you can grab your food and chill afterwards in the grass. That's just so relaxing and you don't need to eat in a hurry while walking.
Thomas Riedler — Google review
Really great night market, with everything you could want. There's live music, games, drinks, and of course all the food you could possibly desire. It gets quite busy but that's a sign of quality.
Anthony Manns — Google review
This night market is exceptional! Located within a vast park, it boasts a wide variety of stalls offering diverse cuisines. Spacious alleys ensure a comfortable visit without overcrowding. Live music adds to the vibrant atmosphere, while ample seating and clean facilities make it a fantastic experience.
Fara — Google review
We went there on a week night and it’s not crowded. Quite a number of vendors were closed though. We tried some of the local specialities but weren’t too impressed. The temperature was comfortable, and it’s nice to stroll around. The worst thing was that the local bus stopped running at around 9 pm. Even the time shown on Google was incorrect. We waited a bit but no bus came, and we walked over to another bus stop to try our luck, but that route was also done for the day. So we ended up taking a cab which wasn’t too bad.
Wendy “FelineProf” C — Google review
The biggest night market that I went to. The food was good but there is way too much people. Most of the food i have to wait for half an hour. It’s all worth it though. I would definitely come again.

Hualien City Night Market. It's a very large market. There are quite a lot of shops. There are quite a variety of tourists visiting during the night. There is a recommended restaurant such as Taiwanese Fried Egg Pancake, Taiwanese style oyster omelet ,Crispy fried squid and mixed fried Taiwanese seafood. The market is in the shape of a U and has many entrances and exits.
PHYSIC BOONTEM — Google review
Photos were taken during a weekend. It was raining and many stalls were not open. Walk way was spacious but am disappointed that it wasn’t as popular as other night markets in Taipei. The cooked food stall was rather expensive. Could have eating in an average restaurant for the same price. The dish was also undercooked. However, the dessert stall at E-27 made up for it. TW50 for a bowl of their special taro ball, red and green bean with soya milk dessert. Lots of games stalls for kids to play.
Esther Teo — Google review
Many many stalls ranging from food to games and apparels. Best place to try out all of the different types of Taiwanese food! On 28th Feb evening, we were lucky enough to catch some fireworks from the nearby Lantern Festival event! Post dinner we took a short 10mins walk to the nearby Lantern Festival, was a really nice light lantern display!

My family and I enjoyed this night market very much. Open place, well set up and enough rooms for people walking around. Didn't get too stressed about getting pushed by others. We all got chances to see most of the stalls. Love it

Some interesting stalls. Grilled crocodile meat not usually found in other night market. Brave foodies can give it a try. Night Market is different from others, non push cart style. Overall, a place worth visiting.

A great place to visit if you’re into old buildings with history, picturesque, lots of for sale stuffs, more on women things, beter to visit this place on a not so sunny weather. Only 3 stars cause it feels like it’s missing something, maybe some food stalls, music, anything that is related to history of this place.

A nice place to watch some old buildings. The visitor information got free, clean toilets. There are several people selling handcrafted stuff and other more or less useful items. Besides that, there's nothing more. So don't plan extra time for it, just take a look if you pass by anyways.

This used to be a rice wine factory. It was more vibrant when I visited few year ago, with shops and cafes. Now it is being transformed into a cultural / artistic space - but still in the process and it was pretty sleepy when we visited recently. But I still enjoy the architecture and the space

A beautiful remains of an old winery, and the buildings are relatively in good condition. I wonder if it could be used in a small scale, to house small local craft businesses and workshops to bring more people to this place.

Located in Hualien City, Dos Tacos is a Mexican and Central American restaurant known for its delicious food and friendly service. The rustic ambiance of the place is enhanced by the use of wood elements and warm colors, creating a welcoming atmosphere that complements the aroma of smoked barbecue. The owner, Jason, who has traveled to over 40 countries, brings his passion for authentic cuisine to this eatery. Visitors have praised the quality of the food and quick service provided by the friendly waitstaff.
The food was great, especially the nachos! The staff was really friendly and super accommodating of our friend’s dietary restrictions. Lovely experience :)

Based on my 1 year living experience in DF(Mexico city), I can tell you that this restaurant got the vibe! For one thing, the Mexican music was all over the place! Second, they got a good selection for food and drinks. And I gotta say even though they made some changes for the sauce but it was tasty! Service was good and chill just like in Mexico! Overall, I believe this is my favorite restaurant in Hualien!

Delicious vegan and vegetarian options! I forgot to take a picture of the food because it looked so delicious i couldn't wait! I recommend the fajitas and tacos. The fajitas sauce was SO delicious.

Me and my friend enjoyed a nice lunch there, and the service was exceptional and the enchiladas were fantastic. I had the beef enchiladas and my friend had the pulled pork enchiladas. We also got chips and salsa and guacamole. They have a good selection of tequila. We had a couple shots of patron and Jose Cuervo 1800, as well as very good house margaritas. This restaurant is in a great location on a corner with great views and lighting in a nice area. They also have a very good selection as you can see in the menu pictures I have posted. I would definitely recommend and return to this great restaurant.

We booked this restaurant, recommended by a friend. I love Tex-mex and I was bowled over that I can find authentic tex-mex food in Hualian of all places. The guacamole and nachos was fresh and a perfect starter. We shared beef fajitas, a taco salad and finished off with fried ice cream. Highly recommend the dirty mojito to perfectly pair with your feast. Great service all round as well despite being really busy during dinner service.

I had an incredibly good time on a Friday night at Dos Tacos. It's very difficult to find good enchiladas in Taiwan, especially when not dining in Taipei. Our server was also incredibly lovely. She provided a friend with a free serving of nachos when her order came out a little later than the rest of us. There was a moment when a customer got up and left without paying the bill because he could not wait an extra 2-3 minutes for his chips to finish baking in the oven. It was an incredibly rude experience, and the server deserved better. She was incredibly polite the entire time, was one of four people working at the restaurant, and was capable of speaking English with foreigners without difficulties. Would come back again!

It's a nice place to hang out chilling with good enviroment, but I get dissapointed with what I ordered doesn't taste as I expected, it was a burrito combo something like that, the lady who was working that night is too kind and friendly, just I don't really like food that much, and I think it was a price too high for.
Neftali Reyes G — Google review
The best Mexican food on the East Side of the island. Hands down. Fairly simple menu, but good stuff indeed. Pricing is decent too. I have a family of 5 and they wanted to come here for lunch on back-to-back days. The staff is super friendly and very quick to respond to requests for chips, extra guacamole, drinks, etc. (Not something I can say about every Mexican restaurant on West side of the island.) I think if you come to Hualien, this restaurant should be a destination point for lunch for at least one meal. Whether you are new to Mexican food or already a fan, this is a "must try" restaurant for anyone making the long trek to Hualien.
T Ransom (Todd) — Google review
The food was pretty good, I was impressed. My main complaint might be that the chimichanga came out lukewarm. If it came out steamy hot (I saw a table nearby with hot fajitas) I’d give another star. They also give quite small portions of the sauces and charge extra for things like salsa. For one person it was 22USD ~640TWD so not cheap!
Jessa Byrne — Google review
My friends and I ate at this restaurant and were blown away by how good the food and the service was. Our waitress was friendly, polite, and provided incredibly quick service. If you’re looking to get good quality Mexican style food (or good quality food in general) come here!
Alden Mohacsi — Google review
The food was as Mexican as I am Taiwanese. It was yogurt instead of sour cream . The tacos and chimichangas tasted utterly bland. I suppose if you are someone who’s never tasted Mexican food before, you can convince yourself this is Mexican food. This wasn’t Mexican food
avillageofbigheads — Google review
Never had a chance to try Mexican food before, not even be able to spell the name of the food correctly, but even without any experience, it won’t be difficult to love the amazing food here. We like the taste and quality of Fajitas steak. Pulled pork comes perfect in Nachos, and the cheese in Enchiladas and Quesadillas is a charm. The deep fried ice cream is not just ice cream, it’s something from heaven! Highly recommended👍!

The food here is served quickly and the service is very nice! Love the atmosphere and delicious drinks. The food is not spicy, and it is not greasy. Its own distinct flavors will make you want to keep eating. The desserts are very special and lovely.

Considering this is a Mexican restaurant based in a small town in Taiwan, we thought the food was nice, albeit a bit basic and on the smaller side. The service and drinks were good. We were surprised at the prices compared to other restaurants in the area. Understood that this is a Mexican restaurant catered to westerners, however, we paid just shy of GBP40 for two burritos, small nachos and a drink each, which is more than we’d expect to pay in the UK.
dcoutouly — Google review
Delicious taco. Chips are super thin and tasty. Guacamole is a bit watery. They have fry burritos, it’s pretty good. Fry ice cream is ok. Not worth to get it.
The Foodie Architect — Google review
Although you can never expect authentic Mexican Food in Taiwan, this place over charges and delivers little. The meat portions are all very small. DO NOT ORDER the soft tacos- they are essentially lettuce with a bite of meat. Nachos are tasty, but also served with little meat. My favorite dish was the fried ice cream served with Kahlua.

Just visited this restaurant for lunch. Absolutely brilliant food. If you are passing through Hualien and need to fill up I would highly recommend this place. I usually highly critical of western food in Taiwan and the so called high rated places usually get a zero from me. This one time I was impressed. I think that the main reason for this is the owner (bless his heart) works alongside his staff churning out the dishes. He is a dying breed of restaurant owners that actually runs the kitchen shoulder to shoulder ensuring every dish that passes his counter is perfect. I'm no michelin star fan and think they are overrated and believe the true essence of a meal is in the passion one puts in to make it and Three Koala's in Hualien is no exception to that rule. We had the spicy wings, honey wings, cheese burger, minced beef panini and a few drinks. Every item was tasty and served with. Now to the highlight of our lunch - Dessert. We ordered 2 brownies with ice cream. I have eaten brownies all over Taiwan for the last 5 years. This was "The Best" I have ever eaten period. I never give a 5 star rating. But today "Three Koala's" deserves every corner of every star it's rated. My rating: Food - 5 Ambience - 4 Service - 5 Value - 4.5 Overall Experience - 5 PS - Apologies for the photos. We were too busy eating to bother taking pics... Cheers!!

I ordered the bacon, egg, cheese beef burger and it was PHENOMENAL!! The meat was perfectly juicy - not over cooked/dry and not bleeding on my plate. The French fries were nicely seasoned (and not super greasy!) and the honey mustard mayo dipping sauce was a yummy compliment to the fries. The atmosphere was clean and cozy. You must eat here and have this experience!! 🙌🏽👏🏽👍🏽 And the Oreo Milkshake? Let’s just saw it was so delicious (not too heavy) that it disappeared quite quickly. 😋🙈😆

This night market is huge and unlike the more popular ones in Taipei. Many stalls that are separated based on cuisine (aboriginal Taiwanese food and Chinese food). They do sell popular night market food but compared to the more popular night markets, the food is not as satisfying. The sweet potato balls are the best we’ve had out of all the night markets we went to. Roasted corn is not recommended, did not taste good at all. Mid food, but decent atmosphere, worth a visit.

It's a very big and clean night market. Not usual small scale or road side style. It seems to me more like an area crafted out for the stalls to be strategically spaced for the safe distance. First time visiting Hua Lien. Not very impressive of the food, but the majority of the taste is welcoming. I love their Pork and Beef, It tastes just much better than SIN. The rest of them are just average.

Large market with a big walking space so that you will not feel cramped. The market is seperated bybtheir types e.g. games, food etc. The food there is above average but i tik the ones in taopei were more to our liking. Will come back if am around hualien.

This is a must stop place for foodies who love street food and variety! The way this night market is built is very well thought of in terms of recreational activities and large groups of visitors. The path was wide and spacious, which allows great open air ventilation. The night market also has recycling trash disposal areas (manned by staffs) qnd also with toilet stalls at the end of each stretch, and even a breast feeding room for mothers at the centre of the area. Though each stretch of the night market sells faily similar items: fruit juice, sausages, stinky tofu, coffin bread etc. The live singing and resting areas make this an ideal spot for a fun, loving night life! Food prices here range around NT 50~100.

This night market is really big. There are many traditional foods and fun games in here. People are so passionate. Love it so much.

A very nice nightmarket. Plenty of different games and so many different kind of food and snacks to choose from. The market is very clean and modern. Their are many big areas with tables and chairs so you can sit down and eat the things you have bought. Something I miss a lot in other nightmarkets.

Popular night market located in Hualian. Worth a visit. Very big, selling different kinds of food, drinks and even some game stalls where you can play games there. There are also people singing live music there, so you can buy some food and drinks, and sit there and enjoy the songs. One of the best night markets that I have visited in Taiwan. Recommended if you are in Hualian!

This is a must visit as a tourist 🙂 If you like to try new things and experiment. I recommend fresh juice, young coconut, scallion pancake, dumplings and coffin toast. ✌️

The main night market in Hualian. There are a lot of street food to choose from. We are more interested in the shooting games. Some stores offer better prizes. Better to ask them before playing.
Boon Hoe Chew — Google review
Its setting is more like build-up stalls than pop-up ones found in other night markets. The number of stalls are also much larger and more structured in its setting. It also offers sit-down tables for those who like to dine-in. The quality of food is also much higher. In addition, there are also lots of stalls selling souvenirs and other goods. On different corners, there are also buskers performing which are very entertaining.

Many stalls are closed probably due to the rain. As usual, many repeated stalls selling same things. Roast corn is totally over rated. Whole family shared one ear also cannot finish, only ate one third of it.... The baked salted fish from the the aboriginal stall is delicious!

The night market visit was a lively and immersive experience, offering a vibrant atmosphere filled with colorful lights and energetic crowds. Exploring the stalls provided a unique glimpse into local culture, with a diverse range of delicious street foods and merchandise. The tasty foods further enhanced the enjoyment of the visit.

The Deep-fried Egg Scallion Pancake (Yellow Truck) is a popular food stall known for its regional fare and half-cooked eggs with scallion pancakes. The queue can be long, but the freshly made, hot, crispy, and savory pancakes are worth it. The soft-boiled egg is fried separately from the batter and adds a creamy texture to the dish.
Line was really long but they also work pretty fast It’s grassy guilty pleasure yummy snacks Deep fried onion pancake with a deep fried egg Gotta eat it fresh It’s a pretty neat experience gotta give it a try

Be there early & patient is required as expect long queue due to customers huge order. Worth the wait though. Make yours with egg as taste is divine. Oily nevertheless but great food is worth the calories.

詳細は青い車の口コミを見て👍 (Translated by Google) A yellow car shop that sells steamed rice cakes that are very famous in Hualien. There was a long line even though it was 3pm on a weekday. This time I added eggs. This restaurant uses oil to fry the eggs, so the key point is that the eggs are fried separately from the batter. The soft-boiled egg is perfectly fried and the inside is creamy🤤 The combination of the soft-boiled egg and the rice cake is irresistible. Beer is a must for Japanese people. It's best to eat while drinking at a nearby convenience store 😋 Once you try it, you'll be addicted to it. I envy the people in Hualien who can eat it anytime. I also tried comparing it with the blue car's glutinous rice cake. If you want eggs, choose the store with the yellow car. I think I prefer the blue car if it's just the glutinous rice cake. Check out the blue car reviews for details 👍

A taste of hualien rendition of scallion pancake! Scallion is not as much as the usual version but this taste great as well with the special sauce and chilli. Lucky there is no Q when we went at 4.30pm

I mean it’s a pretty common street snack and as a Taiwanese, I personally think it doesn’t really worth the hype… You can definitely find a way-better-tasted deep fired pancake in some other places like Taichung or Taipei

Highly recommend Taiwan local food very delicious and cheap. The seller is very friendly as I cannot speak chinese but she communicates with me smoothly.

So yummy! If you come at random times during the day it’s not so crowded. Some of the best scallion pancakes you’ll ever eat, and definitely worth all the calories 😉

(Translated by Google) Ordered as soon as I arrived on Sunday afternoon. I was told it would take over 30 minutes. I finally got it after about an hour. The dough is fluffy and crispy, the egg is creamy, and the garlic sauce is delicious, but I'd like to avoid lining up like this next time... It is more efficient in terms of time to order by phone in advance and then go shopping.

Had 4-5 people ahead of us but we were served very promptly. Waited around 5mins for our order of 2 to be ready when we went on a Wednesday at their opening time. Super friendly service. 10/10 worth it, must try! Get the chilli egg addons if you can take slight spice. It’s not very spicy but adds a whole new dimension to the flavour.

Absolutely worth the wait and huge line - be prepared in the sweltering heat and grab a lemon jelly drink across the street after you place your order ^^ The deep fried congyoubing is crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the interior, paired with a goey egg yolk that bursts as you bite into it, enveloped with flavorful hot sauce ... it's actually a perfect food. Must try!! Wish we had ordered twice as much 🤣
Anna Baatz — Google review
The best deep fried egg scallion I ever had. It definitely worth the long wait.
Polly Y — Google review
Super delicious and deeply flavoured. Taste the best when you eat it when it’s still hot and crispy!

Came on Wednesday 12.40pm, big order before so waited around 10minutes. I got the one with egg and i was mindblown. The pancake is fried to perfection and the half cooked egg yolk gave oomph to the flavor. Remember it’s the yellow truck. I also tried the other stall and feels like this one taste better. Price paid: TWD45
Wilson Yap — Google review
Not overly oily despite it being deep fried. Somebody bought at least 20 at one go so you know it's good. Egg is still runny and that's the specialty
Chris Lai — Google review
delicious good quality scallion pancake with its famous yellow truck. Service was quite fast and there were many customers who kept on coming. I recommend to add egg to make it taste even better!
敏敏 — Google review
Defo worth the travel for! Scallion pancake was chewy with exploding egg yolk in the center. Take caution when you bite the yolk to prevent spilling all over! - MUST GET the one with Egg! 45 yuan!
Yi Ning — Google review
The 葱油饼 is so heavenly!! I love the spicy, no egg version as the sauce is so savory and I can better taste the fragrance of the scallions. Tasted amazing when you eat there in the spot as it’s still hot, crisp, and savory! Just be prepared to queue as everything is freshly made (worth it though). The queue can be confusing for first timers as you need to order directly with the lady first and she will tell you your queue number. Afterwards, you just hang around until your number is called.

Delicious fried pancake a must try in the city ! You have to order first asking for with or without egg, spicy or not spicy. Then they give you a number and once it’s ready they give it to you !

Zhou Jia Xiao Long Bao Steamed Dumplings is a popular spot in Hualien known for its decades-old tradition of serving local versions of Xiao Long Bao. The steamed dumplings are filled with flavorful soup, resembling Xiao Long Tang Bao, and come with various dipping sauces to enhance the taste. Despite the small and crowded space, the service is quick, and orders can be placed through a QR code-linked webpage.
Very decent xiaolongbao, buns and other dumplings for a super good price. Taste and cheap. Don’t expect the best quality, but for what you pay this is 5 out of 5. Staff is friendly, seating is quick and easy. Just pick something and have a lovely bite.
Matt Hallmann — Google review
Scan qrcode to order, pay at counter, given the receipt then wait inside. Packed. Not suitable for people with disabilities because quite hard to manoeuvre inside the shop. Anyway the dumplings truly juicy & the meat was fresh, worth giving a try!
Pei — Google review
The steamed dumplings are very yammy! There is a lot of soup inside the dumpling, making it feel like a Xiao Long Tang Bao. There are a few varieties of dipping sources for you to enhance the flavor of dumplings. But the Xiao Long Bao from this store is the thick skin type, which is also not bad. The shop is very small and crammed. So, one needs to wait to be seated. However, the service is very fast - foods are served immediately after you sit down. Ordering is via a QR code linked webpage.

This restaurant offers delicious buns and dumplings at very affordable prices. As seen from the menu, one set of 10 buns is going for around NT$5. Those buns and dumplings can be eaten with sweet chilli sauce or soya sauce mixed with garlics and sesame oil sauce. On top of these food, the braised pork rice is a notable dish as well. It is quite nice and is of a small portion. The only downside is that eating in the restaurant can be quite stuffy and hot.

We were going to Gongzhen baozi but it was closed tonight, so we went to Zhou Family, the one right next to it, instead. It’s our #3 stop fir our Hualien street hunting. Despite its called Xiaolongbao, it is indeed, Pork Bao. Baozhi is very delicious with very reasonable price (10 pieces for $50). Definitely a must eat place if you like Baozhi.
J.David Hwang — Google review
A pretty cheap and tasty snack of pork buns. There is usually a queue, but that moves pretty fast. Do also try the grass jelly drink from the lady directly across.

While 公正包子 (which is just beside Zhou Jia) is lot more popular, Zhou Jia in my opinion has better quality. And it's 10 TWD more expensive. Firstly, the bao skin is thinner, which means the fillings are actually slightly more. Next, the fillings are also tastier. Try this the next time you are here.
Choon T — Google review
We ordered xiaolongbao and the xiaolongbao itself it’s actually quite normal but the special sauce is epic

Stumbled across this place while walking through the streets in Hualien and had to try it even though I had just eaten lunch. The xiaolongbao was amazing at just $6 NTD per piece. Way better than the ones I tried in Taipei nightmarkets.

Thick skin xiaolongbao which is quite different from the one we know in Singapore. The bun is chewy and nice. Great price and their dumpling tastes great too.

Everytime I have passed by this place on the street in a car I see that there is at least 20+ people in line. Then I think to myself, hell no I am not waiting in that line, not even for 小籠包 ! I was just walking by to the night markets and when i passed by here the late evening while they were still open and to my surprise the line wasnt very long! Everyone seems to come here for the little steam buns, they're 5 NT each and usually sold in sets of 10. The buns are just nice little bite sizes and the breading is super duper soft! I admit, if it werent for the chance that i caught them without a line, I wouldve never tried this place. Now that I have, maybe next time i would wait in line for them :)
