Basilica of Notre-Dame of la Garde

Mentioned on
Basilica
Sights & Landmarks
The basilica Notre-Dame de la Garde is a popular tourist spot in Marseille that features intricate architecture, stunning mosaics and murals, and breath-taking panoramic views of the city from the church.
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL. Its a quite the steep journey however it is worth it once you reach the top. I can not describe just how beautiful and stunning it is when you are there. The pictures do not grasp the amount of beauty. Highly recommend this. If I had one place to visit in Marseille I would pick the top of this church. You can see everything from there. It looks like Greece :D

It is a place where one can find peace in midst of Marseille crowd. A place to stay calm after roaming around the city. The view of the city from here is just fantastic. To reach here, I’d suggest to have a walk from vieux port. It’ll be bit of a hiking like and then stairs however it worth because as one climbs up, the view on their back keeps growing into something superb. Though, there are buses and touristic train available to reach there. You can also take your own car. There’s a parking for them. The sunset view is worth viewing from here.
NITENDRA SINGH — Google review
Amazing views! Bring water or money to buy it though. After the stairs you will be thirsty. A little scary when the winds pick up but truly an amazing place to see old Marseille.

(Translated by Google) A landmark that can be seen from anywhere in Marseille. Admission is free, but you can walk there. . . The slope is a bit difficult. There are also buses. This is a very pleasant place with a nice atmosphere and a great view. If you come to Marseille, I think this is a place you should visit at least once.

What a great place! There is a short, not too difficult hike to reach the top from many parkings at the bottom. There is parking space at the top also. The views of the city and sea and little islands from the top are magnificent. Basilica from inside is very beautiful and tranquil. There is a restaurant, toilets, and museums inside a total of 6 floors of establishment with a lift for easy access to strollers.
Kushant Vyas — Google review
Being located in a very high place, you can have an amazing view over all of Marseille. The church is very beautiful and I would recommend to go there to see the sunset. The church does close around 6pm, but then you can still go down the stairs and watch the sunset there. People told us is wasn't worth walking up there because it took them around 1h climbing and they had to walk on the road not even a nice path, we took the bus 60 from the port which costs 2€ and it takes around 15min. To walk down, we did go by walking because it was only 23min and we didn't have to climb.

Absolutely stunning basilica - and a must-see in Marseille. I first visited on the Saturday, but because of high winds the entrance to the basilica was closed. I was told I could enter via the crypt, but there was a mass happening and nobody was allowed to enter either the crypt or the basilica. Luckily I was able to return on Monday (thought I’d give Sunday a miss as there was only a half hour window to visit at 9am due to masses being held throughout the day). I’m so glad I had the time to come back, as the basilica is absolutely stunning. The views from outside are pretty gorgeous too. Entrance is free, but I’d recommend paying 1€ for the pamphlet at reception - which points out some interesting facts and items to view. Also, the walk up is hard going - even for the fittest of walkers. I’ve climbed Ben Nevis, so I know what I’m talking about! If the weather is cool then go for it, but when it’s hot…no thanks! You can get the No.60 bus from Vieux-Port (I’d recommend getting on there as the bus does get packed pretty quickly). The journey takes around 10-15 minutes by bus and drops you off directly outside the basilica. It costs 2€, and if by chance you can’t get in because of high winds (or mass) it covers the cost of the trip back down - as long as it’s within an hour of purchase.

Contrary to what visitors might think, Notre Dame de la Garde is not a cathedral but a basilica. Really easy to get to by bus and worth seeing - inside and outside. The view is simply stunning. Beware of pickpockets. But no more dangerous than any other site. This monument of Marseille is located on the highest hill near the Old Port, at an altitude of 150 metres.

Great place to visit .you need a couple of hrs to see it all .plenty of steps to climb .we got the little train up to notre dame .you can take as long as you like walking around .and get a much later train down .there's the sightseeing tour bus that also goes up there .bur much more expensive. And it's not really worth it . Enjoy your visit.we did .

A Catholic basilica with a beautiful Roman/Byzantine architectural style. Inside there were many statues; golden Mary was the most stunning. There was also an outdoor area, giving you a view of the city.
Angel Khong — Google review
Stunning view of the city and easily accessible via public transport services. Unfortunately the church was closed during our visit but the crypt was open. Definitely a place to go if you visit Marseille.

An absolute must see and go to place when you visit Marseille. While the climb up there at the top is quite tedious and rough, once you get up there, the climb up the stairs is absolutely worth it. The view from the top is absolutely amazing and absolutely gorgeous. You get a high, perfectly large overview of the whole city of Marseille and everything surrounded it. The inside of the basilica is also breathtaking and absolutely gorgeous. I most definitely recommend visiting this wonderful place.
LEI. R — Google review
Pretty cool little place. We walked up from the port, which was quite a walk, but pretty cool to see the city that way. Safe area to walk around in. The view from there was unique and made it a great stop. The boats everywhere in the church was also really unique and interesting. I definitely wouldn’t pay a tour guide if any kind and was glad that admission was free. They charge you to use the restrooms, which was wild to me but maybe that’s normal in this area.
Angela Brady — Google review
We were staying on the other side of the marina and decided to take a day trip. The hills and stairs are no joke in near 100 degree weather. I got sunburned and we stopped for a quick cafe when we made it up the first round of hill. The walk/hike was WELL worth it the basilique is beautiful as are the views... I highly recommend the trek if you are up for it... I believe there is also a bus that runs every 20 minutes...

The location of the basilica is simply breathtaking, situated atop a hill overlooking the city of Marseille. The panoramic views it offers are absolutely stunning, providing a captivating perspective of the cityscape, the harbor, and the surrounding coastline. The basilica's architecture is equally remarkable. Its ornate design, featuring a combination of Romanesque and Byzantine elements, adds to its charm and grandeur. The intricate details, vibrant colors, and beautiful mosaics inside the basilica create a truly great atmosphere.
?mer Yi?it Tatkan — Google review
The highlight of the city. It’s not too much of walk to, a little hilly but an enjoyable walk. Amazing views of the city. There also parts of the structure you can pay your respects to the fallen so feels a little nostalgic too. Well worth the visit.
Stephen Roy — Google review
Worth the climb for the spectacular views alone. Fortunately, there are stopping points on the way up the 267 steps. If you're really struggling, you can take a lift from the crypt to the chapel. Once inside, you will be impressed by the beautiful art. There is also a shop to buy your souvenirs.
John Witchell — Google review
This Basilica is like a lighthouse of Marseille, it is almost always visible when walking in old port or most of the city side. Apart from the architecture, this natural high point gives stunning view of Marseille in all directions. It’s easy to reach by city bus from old port, and is also covered in most of the city tours.
Mayur Salgar — Google review
Not a church person, but an amazing spot with amazing views. So much history and a really important spot in the history of Marseille and to the seafaring tradition of the place. Get there early...before 10:30am.
Craig Atkinson — Google review
Definitely worth the walk up the hill! Beautiful cathedral with beautiful views of the city and the sea. Enjoyed the walk up. There are bathrooms and some vending machines if needed when you get there too. One of the must visits in the city.
Kevin M — Google review
Wonderful architecture can be found at this basilica. The views, however, make this a very special place. You can see Marseille in its entirety as well as the sea and local islands. A long steep walk, but absolutely worth it.
Monty M. — Google review
Absolutely Breathtaking. Definitely a must see just for the craftsmanship of the inside of the building. It’s great to watch the sunset from here as you get great views from the city. The museum wasn’t open which was a little sad but everything else was great. Bear in mind that you need €0.50 coins to use the toilets here.
Clara Sinclair — Google review
Just the walk up the hill. A long way up but totally worth the trip. Better wear your walking shoes. In November, the hill is pretty windy and sunny at the same time. Beautiful cathedral with breathtaking views of the city and the sea. A must visits in the city. Just sit by the church stairs and breath in Facilities: Restroom, gift shop and parking (for groups or personal vehicle)
Madame Tell — Google review
Really beautiful church and I really like the ship theme. Both the insides and the outside of the church is very nice. The views from the top of the hill around the church are also incredible. And in the winter the amount of tourists were minimal and made the visit very enjoyable.
Daan van Meijgaarden — Google review
A beautiful church on the hill overlooking breathtaking scenery of Marseille. We arrived here by taking Les petits trains de Marseille which stopped by here for us to visit the basilica
Kevin Sheu — Google review
A must see, with a spectacular view of Marseille.. I got some really good panoramic photos. For those who want to know.. Basilique Notre-Dame de la Garde is a lavish 19th-century icon that's visible from across Marseille. It sits on the remains of a 12th-century chapel and a 16th-century fort. The structure has been used as both a place of worship and a part of the city's defences. Today, locals come to the basilica to pray for or give thanks for safe journeys and recovery from illness.

The Calanques National Park preserves stunning beauty and harboring extraordinary plant and animal life, including 900 different species of plants. The park covers 85km of land, with the majority in the marine area, and includes stunning limestone rock walls with fjord-like coves filled with saltwater in mesmerizing turquoise hues. Outdoor activities such as swimming, kayaking, rock climbing, and hiking are available for those who visit.
Simply put, this park was amazing! Was a bit hesitant visiting given the amount of National Parks that are in the US but this was well worth it. Hiking down to the beach was both semi challenging and rewarding. It was releasing to float in the water and then lay on the warm rocks soaking up the sun and views.

Very beautiful place and the view is amazing. I recommend a hiking shoes as in some areas the sand is a bit slippery I twisted my leg in there and it was difficult to climb down after.
Jaber Alabdulsalam — Google review
Trails with beautiful views. Select any one and you will not be disappointed. Some can be difficult in terms of elevation gain. Count with about 500 m elevation gain per 10 km hiked in any direction. Very hot and exposed in the sun even in April.

If one has to imagine how the heaven looks like, then they should visit Les Calanques. It’s nothing less heavenly. Picturesque beaches, colourful waters, numerous possibilities of activities one can do and it feels like that’s the real life to live for. The best place for scuba, swim and for sunbathing. Hiking, kayaking or any activities related to water and mountainside can be performed. The colour of water varies because of Mediterranean specific sea plants. They are well preserved and that’s what make this place worth visiting. One can reach there by hiking or by taking a ferry from Marseille vieux port. Just to visit all the calanques beaches one can take integral tour of the calanques by ferry which will Cost you around 32€ per person for the duration of 3h15. Don’t forget to take sunglasses and a cap because of the sun. Best time to visit in April.
NITENDRA SINGH — Google review
A short drive or bus ride from Marseille, great hiking and walking trails with magnificent views of the Mediterranean throughout. Prepare for crowds in weekends, even in the winter months.
Bob Ramsak — Google review
Argh. The Calanques were beautiful and d’en Vau beach was wonderful swimming. D’en Vau beach was mobbed by instagrammers, kayakers, climbers and even has boats bringing tourists by sea. It did ruin it quite a bit. But what ruined the visit the most was that our car was smashed into while we left it in the car park. When we came back from our hike to d’en vau all the cars in the car park had the back windows smashed. The local police weren’t remotely surprised. Our air bnb host shrugged and said ‘well it’s Marseille’. The police report was a nightmare. They didn’t speak a word of English and had no official translation service. It’s not really worth it for all that stress
Kerris — Google review
The Parc National des Calanques in Marseille is stunning, but my visit was marred by road closures that made access difficult. Views were still breathtaking, but plan ahead for any closures.
Bryan V. — Google review
Great park with amazing views. The beginning of the hike is boring and not as picturesque but after 20 minutes you have a choice of which side to go to and it starts being much more picturesque! The hike to Margiou beach is medium difficulty with one particular difficult moment when you have to hold by the chains to climb up/down. Very well worth it! You need around 2.5 hours for the hike to Margiou beach, a short stay there and way back. For the hikes to two destinations I would probably leave 4+ hours. You don’t need too much water with you (except for very hot weather) since the hike is not too exhausting but some beverage and snacks is a plus to make the experience more enjoyable!
Alexey Subach — Google review
This is amazing wild place! Mountains and the sea! If you love nature - must visit!
Vladimir Ponimajushij — Google review
Paradise on earth....but very dangerous hiking trails if you underestimate the danger. The hiking is also much longer than said on the internet. To go from Port Miou to En vau it is 3 hours and not 1h30. There are three ways to get to En vau. The easiest and the one I would advise if you have children younger then 15 is the one that starts at the route the gineste. The hardest route is the " panoramic route". If you go for the first time, stay close to people that already know the trail. It is way too easy to get lost. And when you get lost you sometimes will have to take some very dangerous decisions to get back on track. I repeat do not underestimate the danger. I am an adventurous man, athletic and not afraid of anything...but I am amazed that there aren't any dead tourists every summer..... Take a lot of water with you. Go as early as you possibly can. Don't leave the beach too late because if you leave at 8 in the evening you won't get out in time before dark. Install the application " mes calanques"... An amazing app. Stay safe. And don't smoke there nor on the beaches... They will give you fines that will hurt your wallet. They had a lot of forest fires.. and clean up behind you. And when you leave the beach and you see some filth from someone that didn't, then be kind and take it with you. By the way...the water of calanques d'en vau is extremely cold. Some advise: when you arrive at the beach find yourself a spot on the left side of the beach because that way you'll have 90 minutes of sun more then the people on the right side of the beach. Best advice : rent a kayak. You'll be there in 1 hour. Stay safe.

A great place to have different types of activities and levels of difficulties. Hiking, climbing, swimming in the sea, trail running. The views are gorgeous and the stones are magnificent. It's a wonderful experience not to be missed if you're visiting Marseille. Winter months are not as busy on the trails, and the light is magical. Be aware that some trails require a certain fitness, so check with the park's app before you start. And of course always check the weather beforehand.

The view it’s impressive, the hike was difficult but worth it. Unfortunately we were not prepared with water shoes , so was uncomfortable because of the stones on the beach and in the water . The water was freezing but amazingly clear and clean.

Amazing views! Trekking shoes are strongly recommended because the path is full of slippery stones and quite steep. But the scenery is definitely worth it. The beach is pretty small and there were many jellyfish in the water today so we didn’t try bathing there.

Very beautiful!! Can be a long hike depending on your entrance. Going from Les Baumettes is a nicer hike but longer. There is also a part that is quite steep. Luminy entrance is shorter distance but you don’t see as much on the hike. No reservation needed. Overall, no matter your hiking route it is worth the effort. Water is crystal clear and can be a bit cold but it is just what you want after a sweaty hike.
Bilin Chen — Google review

ISole — Google review
A very nice Calanque. Beautiful. If you come with your own sailing boat, you are likely to anchor at 15 m dept. In summer there will be many boats at anchor and it can feel crowded. Also during the day there is a continued stream of day tripper boats, which is very annoying. Thus I only give 4 stars.
Paul Donn — Google review
The small beaches here are great. One of them is with small pebble-stones, the other beach is just stone with pebble entrance to the sea. You have to come early tho, if you want to swim alone. Because of it is small, it gets full quickly. You have to park 3,5 km (car) away from this calanque, only the locals can get through the gates. So you have to walk on partly-walkingroutes that can take up to 30 min (maybe 2,8 km). You have hiking routes that can take you to great spots to take pictures. Tips: Go early Take (light) shoes you can swim with Big bottle of water Shoes for hiking (if you want to hike) Goggles (you can see small fishes swimming around your legs, we saw even an octopus) A bientot !

Sights & Landmarks
The Abbey of Saint-Victor is an old and historic landmark in Phnom Penh. It was founded by a hermit back in the 5th century, and today only the 13th-century church remains. The crypt housing the remains of various saints is still present at the abbey.
True pearl of Marseille, an absolute must-visit. One of the most ancient monasteries in France with unique look and amazing catacombs that you cannot miss (it's worth the couple of euros you pay for it).
František — Google review
The abbey church has a fine atmosphere to it, dark and subdued. Clearly in need of restoration as netting has to protect visitors from falling stones! The famous crypt can be visited for two euros, and is worth a look, although it is humid. Very interesting place, but as it is now presented, not worth a long detour.

Sylvio Hleiss — Google review
Former abbey now fortified church, Abbaye Saint-Victor was named after a local soldier and martyr, Victor of Marseille. There were crypts that used to house the remains of a number of Saints. The church was on a hilltop giving you a stunning view of Vieux-Port.

The Abbaye is beautiful, dark, and peaceful. A note for tourists: the crypt had a 2€ entrance fee and the caretakers do NOT take card payments. Was really looking forward to seeing it, a little modernisation is needed to ensure that the tourist continue to spend their money with you.

Not what I expected as compared to other sightseeing places I have been to in Marseille. It's just an old, dark church, not really much to see. There was a communion service taking place, so we couldn't visit the crypt.

This inconspicuous abbey is one of the most beautiful religious buildings in Marseille. The darkness and somberness of the church in this Middle Age religious building is interrupted by the magnificent ethereal and colourful light that comes through the stained glass in the morning. They have several masses in French and some in Arabic.

Amazing restaurant to enjoy Chilean cuisine. I highly recommend the 'pastel de choclo' and 'las empanadas'. It was really delicious and we had a nice time with friends. The quality of the food and the price are excellent.

Amazing spot, in the middle of a quiet neighborhood. Great chilean food with a southern french touch. The mix is crazy good! The staff are very professional too.

Restaurant
The Les Halles de la Major deli features a variety of high-quality gourmet food, as well as a brasserie, a tapas bar and a pastry shop. It is great for foodies, self-caterers and simple browsers alike, and offers an upscale experience not found at most other markets in the city.
We just had lunch in this restaurant. Food is super quality. Very good location. Toilets are very clean. Service is very fast and attentive. We will definitely come again. Thank you so much.

Terrible. Do not go. Waited an hour for simple food. Only got it because I inquired. If you are hungry - don’t go. They think they are cool but it was a mal experience. Definitely look for other places in the area. ( however, they did do the right thing and comped my meal, but still fairly dreadful )

The worst chicken I have ever tried. Not well cooked, the taste was horrible, overloaded with garlic. The service was awful. A young long hair guy tried to take our payment, for some reason he called an older gray hair man, to took the payment. He was extremely rude. I was with 2 friends he made us feel he just wanted to get rid of us. He almost broke my credit card on the way he swiped it. We didn’t have the chance to explain the food was not properly cooked. The seating area looks nice and we thought we will have a good meal, big mistake, huge. Inside the Asian cooking area there were flies on top of the food. And the cost of the food was overpriced for the bad quality and horrible service. We donate our money to this place, we just ate the tomatoes. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Beyond bad.

Loved the concept and the fact that you can see exactly what you are getting before getting it. The tuna tartare was really good and the stake too. The place is a bit expensive but it was worth it for once in a while. We had a really good lunch in the sun.

I have never seen such a fast service in Europe. The food is very tasty. The staff is super friendly. The price is okay.
Igrar ALIYEV — Google review
One of the best meals I have ever had. Even though my plate doesn’t seem so special, I have never tried this combination of tastes, which is divine, and the vegetables are so good, fresh or perfectly cooked! They have multiple choices, pizza of all sorts, salads, seafood, salmon, vegetables and fruits of all kinds, desserts, but everything seems to be out of the ordinary though, in terms of recipes and combinations, it’s all so tasteful! Absolutely love this place, the food, the terrace, the ambiance, the fact that it’s localized right next to Cathédrale la Major.

Not the cheapest eating option but the food is good with quality ingredients, the staff are friendly, there's plenty of choice, and theres lots of seating. Great lunch spot. Staff also speak English.
xyzpiggywigsxyz — Google review
Certainly not cheap but great selection of varied options.. if it seems confusing - walk inside and get a number, walk around the various stations to order with said number and a server will bring your choices out to you, and take your drink order.. pay at the same counter that you received the number once you have finished.. The tartare plate was good but the pizza with anchovies was superlative - the red sauce was very delicious, no cheese required..!
Ryan Smith — Google review
Highly recommend! First of all, the staff was truly accommodating. We don't speak French, wish we knew more languages, but the staff who spoke some English were very helpful and kind! They really made our experience so enjoyable! This place is very unique, there is multiple stations inside. 1. They hand your party a number when you first walk in. 2. Then you go to each station: bar, seafood, charcuterie, burgers/sandwiches, Thai, dessert and order anything you would like and show your number. 3. Pick a table inside or outside and display your number. 4. Your drinks and food will be delivered to you. 5. Before you leave, show your number to the bar and pay. Each station provides their menu, prices and either pictures or plates on display. About a 20 minute walk from the Vieux point and definitely worth it! Get our of the tourist trap and experience the culture on locals of Marseille! Bonjour and merci <3

It’s a place where there is 3 pubs with music, you can have a drink, but I do not recommend it because the music played is very old and it’s not fun.

Pizza restaurant
Italian restaurant
La Bonne Mère is a popular pizzeria in Marseille that uses only organic and imported ingredients, making it a great choice for those looking for quality pizza made with fresh ingredients. The mozzarella at La Bonne Mère is particularly creamy and delicious, making it a popular choice for pizza lovers. Reservations are recommended at this pizzeria, which is located near the Basilica Notre-Dame de la Garde.
TOP restaurant with the most lovely hostess. The pizza was fantastic and made with a lot of love. Recommend to make reservations a couple of days in advance. 10/10! Thank you Maeva ❤

Excellent ! The crust is amazing. The tomato sauce out of this world. This is a truly amazing pizza. Mine had the pesto and mozzarella balls. The pesto gave a basil and garlic zing to the tomato sauce; really loved it The prices are not cheap but it's a wonderful place to spend a moment; the boss lady is super nice and it feels like a 'true' place. Will be back. Make sure you reserve.

We heard that this place had a good reputation. Recommended by a friend. I found the contrary. Sad Sad Sad. Staff really cold and not welcoming at all. Completely the contrary of Napolitan style. Pizza under the standards with not a good quality products, see sauce tomate Cirio and beretta Ham, products that you can find in Italian METRO cash and carry. 15 to 18 euro for a pizza . Way to much for the products that you are eating. 5 euro for a birra peroni or moretti a robbery. We ask for wine list, they didn't have one as the Website said. Only one choice lambrusco instead 4/5 We had our pizza, we paid and to be honest was really frustrated to heard the waiters chatting to each other said that we didn't left any tips 😅. After that service ??? 👎🏼 Cash only they said straight away when we booked the table by the phone, already sais a lot of things.😅😅😅 Never will come back to this place. You can find better pizzas in Marseille. Not recommended 😕 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼

The pizza was delicious. I had La Papé, which was great with the anchovies. My wife had La Bonne Mère and also liked it. We definitely recommend getting a reservation though since the only spot they had open was the single table outside.

Such a nice place to be! The ambience is very nice and warming and the server was very friendly. The pizza might be one of the best I’ve ever eaten! Highly recommend!

I am Italian and I can say this is the worst pizza I had in marseille. Very dry and poorly hydrated dough. Was also overpriced, besides for the pizza I paid 19€ for a plate of parma ham which was also very dry. Will never come back.

You cannot leave Marseille without trying this restaurant. I guarantee you a pizza that you’ve never tried before. Recommend: 4 Formaggi and Manon

Visiting from NYC. Highly recommend the Parma - it was delicious. Crispy crust, sweet balsamic, & fresh toppings. Best to put in a to-go order in advance & pick up an hour later.

Luckily got a table without a reservation! Pizzas were absolutely delicious - thin base, perfectly cooked, fresh ingredients! (Top: Parma. Bottom: La Bonne Mere)

Definetely one of the best pizzas I ever ate. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere (inside and on the terasse) but a bit pricy.

Possibly the best pizzas we have ever eaten! You cannot go wrong here. You might have to fight to get attention of the staff because they are packed but it's worth it!

Mediterranean restaurant
La Passarelle is a small mediterranean restaurant hidden behind the theatre of Criee in Saint-Victor district of Marseille. The food is all sourced from local producers, with vegetables from AMAP d'Ollioules, cheeses from Brebis de Puy Ste Reparade, and flowers from Gemenos.
Beautiful restaurant we discovered by accident with very nice staff and excellent food. We didn't want to leave. Atmosphere, service and meals were so good.

Maybe it's a European thing but often times when we arrive at a restaurant in France it often takes 10-15 minutes to see a server or place a drink order. Our server was the bartender and he did a good job when he had time to stop by our table. Our food was amazing. It was an artichoke ceveche with pine nuts, pomegranate, a vinaigrette, dill, and chives. Being a non French speaking tourist, my wife speaks enough to get us by, the staff was very helpful answering any questions I had. Overall it was great food, but personally I thought the service was average to below average.

we had an amazing dinner! All dishes were sensational. Friendly staff and service, place is so easy going and great atmosphere with 5 star food and service. reservation is absolutely recommended as this place is very popular:)

Beautiful shaded courtyard with a lovely vibe, the house white was lovely. I arrived just after they were stopping service but the waiter asked the chef if he would make one more fish for me. I had a flavoursome summer salad.
Katie Roberts — Google review
We really wanted to like this place but the food really let us down. Things started well with a lovely atmosphere and wonderful staff. However, our food, which came out super quickly (really too quickly) was lukewarm and very under seasoned. In addition to it all being very bland, my partner's chicken was undercooked. After two small bites, we saw how undercooked and very pink inside it was. Unfortunately he has some intestinal issues later in the afternoon because of it. It's all too bad, it's such a cute place with nice people, but the food was just not good.

Great food, subtle ingredients and thus quite different than what more touristique restaurants serve in Marseille. Friendly personnel. Nice place with great atmosphere.

We’ve been there for lunch: absolutely a lovely experience. The restaurant is hidden in a romantic courtyard close to the port and managed by a group of young guys. They offer organic, delicious dishes at a reasonable price (20-25 euro for a generous portion). Definitely worth the visit!

Not as good as it was and table below the stairs should not be used when the terrace is still available. The products are fresh and good but the magic touch of 3 years ago when we first tried La Passarelle was not there yesterday evening. Staff very professional and warm and friendly welcome.

Coffee shop
Maison Nosh is a coffee bar that suits children well. It has a lot of students chatting, so parents can relax and their children can make more noise. There is a creative menu with healthy and organic products.
Super friendly service, delicious food, situated in the corner of a quiet plaza. Great experience here.
Scott Du Barry — Google review
A fun and casual breakfast and coffee shop spot located just off the Fontaine de la Rotonde, Nosh is a great place for a nice breakfast. Facing a small commercial square, the resto is airy and light with lots of windows and seating for both inside and out. The menu options are fun; double pancakes, waffles, pecan toast and the like...basics but with modern twists. Service was friendly and the meal came quickly (although the resto was not very busy). Definitely worth a stop on your visit to Aix.
