Italian Riviera

The Italian Riviera, synonymous with Italy's Liguria region, is a crescent-shaped strip of Mediterranean coastline straddling between the south of France and Tuscany. Its eastern half, the Riviera di Levante, is defined by its rugged cliffs, turquoise coves and pastel seaside towns, including the colorful Cinque Terre fishing villages, as well as stylish resort areas such as Portofino and Santa Margherita Ligure.

Aquarium of Genoa

Mentioned on
Aquarium
Nature & Parks
The Aquarium of Genoa is the largest aquarium in Europe and features around 12,000 different species of fish and marine mammals. It's also home to six million litres (1.6m gallons) of water, making it one of the biggest aquariums in the world. The size of some of the tanks is impressive, especially for creatures like dolphins and sharks. Kids will love exploring all the exhibits, from manatees to coral reefs.
Book an early entrance (by 10am) so that there are fewer people so you can enjoy and see exhibits more easily. Price paid is fair. Lots to see. Don't miss the jellyfish and vivarium section. You need to cross to another side. Easily missed as you might think you're done.
Marie Louise Agius — Google review
Excellent aquarium. The layout and flow offer you different perspectives of the sharks, dolphins and seals at different points. The various world regions and animals are thorough. The location is easy and beautiful. A fun 2-3 hours. Buy tickets online through their official website and be careful of discounted sites.
Martina D — Google review
I visited Genoa on a cruise and went to the aquarium. It was so amazing!!!! I love animals so much and they had some cool and really cute animals. I would highly recommend going here if you ever visit Genoa. Going earlier is definitely better before field trips.
Andrew Hicks — Google review
A very nice aquarium with a variety of fish and aquatic animals. It’s worthwhile visiting and you could easily spend a couple of hours if not half a day. If you are with kids, you should plan on spending half a day here as there are plenty to see and will keep the kids interested. The exotic fish and marine life is well kept although one can always argue if the environment they are kept in is truly fair, especially for the marine mammals such as the dolphins and larger fish such as the sharks. The penguins are an added attraction here. You could take a break at the cafe inside the aquarium and spend some time taking in the views from the deck, with the views of the port.
Localizer — Google review
Quite nicely done even though it still seems like the space, especially for the bigger animals, is too constrained. Still struggling with the ethical part of visiting such places, but it's so tempting to see the animals. Too many kids tho.
Zuzana Žilková — Google review
I visited the aquarium with my school and it was a really nice experience. There is an enormous collection of all kind of sea creatures. We also saw penguins, crocodiles and turtles. Obviously there were also scary and strange sharks. Furthermore we were lucky enough to see a dolphin show. If you plan to visit this place I highly recommend you call them and get your tickets in advanced, because it can get very crowded very fast.
Benjamin Demetz — Google review
Really great aquarium with beautiful exhibits and wonderful experiences for all ages. Book tickets in advance. Get there as early as possible if you'd rather not have too overwhelming a crowd. Not always convenient lifts/enough for strollers and accessibility.
Linly Stowe — Google review
Great experience, really worth a visit. Animals are kept in a convenient environment, the site is clean, well-preserved. Visitor information is clear, and interactive at a level you may expect any museum / attraction in the 2020s. Staff is also very nice. Avoid weekends if you wanna hear less screaming from kids. :-)
Peti Sikos — Google review
Amazing place. The animals are well looked after, lovely variety of marine life, friendly staff and a great gift assortment with 2 gift shops. Spent roughly 4 hours here and was time well spent. Would definitely recommend
Kim Davidson — Google review
After a quick breakfast, we visited the Aquarium of Genoa. We recommend going early in order to beat the crowds. It’s never that big of a crowd, although any crowd will obstruct your viewing experience. It’s very impressive, their selection. Penguins, piranhas, sturgeon, manatees, seals, dolphins, sharks, chameleons, jellyfish - they’ve got it all. Totally fun for the whole family and very fun to shoot video.
Ralph N — Google review
Make sure to buy your ticket before you go, queues out the front can be ridiculously long, and exhibits are crazily busy, especially in school holidays. Amazing array of creatures and sea life, although was wary that some enclosures felt insufficiently deep or wide. Gift shop #sucked.
Ellie Archibald — Google review
Wonderful aquarium. Compared to other similar places, this is quite large, the kids were very happy. We stayed about 4 hours (including nice lunch at the terrace with beautiful view over harbour). Price is quite high, but it is a half-day event.
Michael Mueller — Google review
Great aquarium, large, many finish to see. Lots of visitors usually. Quite expensive entrance fee.
Mario Karu — Google review
Not the biggest but really beautiful place, loved the huge aquariums where you could just sit and admire all the animals. There’s also a restaurant inside with a great view. Overall not too many aquariums but they have some species that other/bigger aquariums don’t have. In the end once you finished you still have a lot of time to explore the beautiful city!
Ivi Gaál — Google review
Excellent place to visit - one of the highlights of our train trip around Italy. Kept us very entertained for about 2 hours easily. Perfect for kids but also without. Very interactive and everything is in English and Italian. Everything looks very clean and all animals look in good condition and well cared for. Very good price for what you get. Highly recommended.
Erin Grieve — Google review
Really nice aquarium. My kids were so happy to visit it. Well organised . Just remember to buy the tickets in advance and to book online your entry time. It is easy to reach with the car .. plenty of parking in the area.
Ivan Pelizzari — Google review
Very outdated, poorly maintained aquarium with dark lighting and foggy uncleaned glass. Some exhibits were nice, like the Seahorses. Be mindful that the signage directing you to the exhibits is very poor, you do not get a visitor map and there are few signs informing you of the right way to proceed. Especially confusing with the upper and lower levels. After we visited the Penguin enclosure we were brought to a giant white building that had little signs, other than for lockers or bathrooms. There was a big desk that read “Behind The Scenes” and that requires an extra ticket (€8). So we turned back, not even realizing there was another big section of the aquarium after that. Very poor layout and guidance. When we asked about the other exhibits on the pier, they told us to go outside and we will find the Biosphere €5 extra) and other things. That is when we realized there is a Dolphin tank and Tropical Rainforest area… but it was too late. Once you go outside, you can not re-enter. Of course, it’s sad that they keep dolphins in a small tank anyway, so probably better not to see that. And finally, we were surrounded by aggressive migrants forcing us to take bracelets and souvenirs and begging for money along the entire area of the aquarium. From the entrance to the exit. Almost no security around. Overall, this aquarium should be priced around €15 for the quality of the current experience. After our visit, we felt let down and overcharged. I hope they consider a major renovation to improve the exhibits and signage and consider discontinuing the dolphin shows and instead use the facility to rehabilitate and release injured or abandoned dolphins.
Jadran — Google review
A good price compared to some I've been too. Some animals we never thought we would see so one very happy girlfriend. The tropical pool was incredible. But then some others were rather Barron so felt sorry for them. But all in a great aquarium and a great aquarium
martyn gregory — Google review
It's always nice to see what is in the ocean close by. Still think the dolphin tank is small for them. Nice place for kids and adults to visit and understand what beautiful creatures are in de ocean's .

Historical place
Sights & Landmarks
Le Strade Nuove and the Palazzi dei Rolli form a UNESCO World Heritage Site consisting of ancient streets, palaces, and historical sites. The Palazzi dei Rolli is a group of 42 artistically designed buildings built on sloping land with stepped courtyards, staircases, gardens, and rich interior decorations that express a unique social and economic history. Visitors can take tours of some of these buildings that are beautifully preserved and majestic in appearance.
The paintings were well displayed inside the Palazzo Rosso, Palazzo Bianco and Palazzo Tursi. You buy your combined ticket from the museum bookstore/shop before entering Rosso. The museum consists of three different palazzos; Rosso, Bianco and Tursi. All of the three palazzos contain now large collections of mainly Italian art.

Mirja Roti — Google review
(Translated by Google) The system of Palazzi dei Rolli winds through the ancient streets of Genoa, welcoming officials and dignitaries in rotation. Beautiful and superb, they testify to the beauty and history of the City, a military and commercial power on the seas, which in the Middle Ages was one of the European powers. It's a shame that we were only able to admire the austere facades and atriums, leaving us only to imagine the sumptuous interiors. But simply taking a walk among these examples of neoclassical and baroque style is already experiencing the past and history a little and breathing in the air of other times. Absolutely not to be missed to relive, at least for a few hours, the historicity and beauty of Genoese history.

Mentioned on
Catholic church
Museums
The Catholic Church is a hugely important religious institution which can be found all over the world. Santa Maria di Castello is an amazing church located in the beautiful hill station of Costello in the province of Genoa. The church displays dozens of frescoes dating from the 16th to the 19th centuries and it is an important religious centre of Italy.
The Chiesa di Santa Maria di Castello is a beautiful church. The building is in Roman style and with modestly decorated architectural features, including fabulous faience work on the walls. The church has some wonderful medieval fresco’s and paintings, an impressive marble altar and a beautiful altar with the Annunciation of Mary. You can visit most parts freely and there are volunteers to answer your questions.
Siegfried B — Google review
This hidden Romanesque church complex is well worth a visit, especially for the guided tour offered by volunteers, which you will probably receive PRIVATELY due to the small number of visitors. It was formerly administered by the Dominicans. There are cloisters and numerous pieces of intact medieval art, including a beautiful Annunciation fresco from 1451, which the Grimaldi family had a key role in sponsoring.

Amazing church nice architecture in a very nice area full of history

An amazing church which has an amazing amount of things to see. Ask the volunteers inside to show you around. It might be they don't speak English, but it's worth to see even without the explanation.
Eva Valkovicova — Google review
This this church is tucked away and hidden amongst residential buildings just up from the old port. It has a very unassuming outside. However once you step inside you will be blown away by the architecture and the numerous paintings. Every alcove has numerous paintings sculptures from famous painters and sculptors. It has one of the workers of the church inside the building that is happy to tell you a little of the history. Well worth a trip to see.
David Shirley — Google review
Even though the façade might make it look not interesting, it is one of the most beautiful churches of Genova. It contains several frescos from the 15th and 16th century and volunteers can tell the history of the church and guide you through other interesting parts of it, including three beautiful cloisters with marvellous decorations.
Filippo M. — Google review
Very beautiful church in Genova, Voluntaries of the place offer very nice explanations and visit of the cloister! One of the sweetest moments and best surprise of our trip in Italy. Please do not neglect contributing, so sad to see that almost no one did after a 30 minutes free visit (in Italian + French)!
Victor Grimaux — Google review
Interested in old churches, we went to Santa Maria di Castello and found a marvellous volunteer guide, Giovanni. He spent a lot of time with us and was a fount of knowledge, all explained in English, which we thoroughly appreciated. There are some wonderful things to see, including some beautiful cloisters, exquisite old vestments embroidered by nuns, flags from the Battle of Lepanto in 1571 (staggering!) and a very unusual wooden carving of Christ in the church. Giovanni also showed us fascinating details such as the hinged wooden boxes in the back of the seats in the choir where the monks spat when they were unwell, which seems to have been quite often. The church is very definitely worth visiting. There was so much to see and learn and the volunteers so friendly and helpful.

Chiesa dei Santi Ambrogio e Andrea, also known as the Church of Jesus and Saints Ambrogio and Andrea, is a stunning Baroque church located in Genoa's Piazza Matteotti. It is closely situated to the Palazzo Ducale and Piazza De Ferrari.
You would not expect the beautiful interior from the outside. We were walking around the area and by first glance I would not take a second look at this church but saw one of the doors opened and wanted to look inside. I was stunned by the beautiful interior and paintings. What pleasant surprise.

Restaurant
Cocktail bar
This restaurant is situated next to the 16th century Torre Aurora, which offers stunning views over the water. The menu features mouth-watering seafood dishes prepared with care. Whether you're dining in the tower itself or on its terrace overlooking the sea, this Monterosso restaurant is a real highlight for foodies.
We had the most amazing time here. We walked firm Vernazza to Montorosso (about an hour) and then arrived without a booking for some drinks. We had to wait for around 20 minutes but I can tell you it was very worth it. Our seats were amazing, overlooking the sea and the sunset. Drinks were also very nice and we were given 2 complimentary cheese, crackers and cold meats boards. Staff were very nice and would definitely recommend to anyone visiting!
Sebastian — Google review
Located at the foot of the tower the view is breathtaking (although I was there when it was dark). Staff is attentive and rather efficient. Food is above average without being spectacular, a bit pricey. Great cocktails and the cheesecake was probably the most surprising meal of that dinner. Perfect if you want/need to impress. Probably one of the most qualitative restaurant in town.
Alexandre Roty — Google review
Honestly unbelievable how in a such a beautiful place can be such horrible tasteless food. For Italy it is a quite pricy place which is okay if it would be really good. We ordered baked seafood starter which was tiny and without any taste, for main we ordered lobster pasta which was okay and squid pasta which was so horrible that I literally returned it fully back. We had an attack of bees at our table and nobody cared. Only after we asked they moved us to another table with a nicer view. When the waiter saw that I returned untouched pasta and asked how was our dinner, I said the food was terrible. She said okay, thank you. And left. We paid 110€ for two and it was such a disappointment. The view is beautiful but I strongly don’t recommend to eat anything there. By the way tables to have aperitif looks much nicer than dinning tables. I would definitely recommend to go there for drinks. View is top. Service is careless. Food is disaster. Very shameful for Italy.
Kate Kryvko — Google review
I am giving 2 stars for the beautiful and charming view over the sea of this restaurant. The ambiance is also cozy, with tables under olive trees and calm music However, maybe this can be a good place for cocktails but not for food. At 30 Eur prices for a 2nd piatti, the resto wants to provide smth fancy but the food is nothing but ordinary. The tuna overcooked, the other sea fruit tasteless. Service was very cold, the waiter was at times throwing things on the table All is all, great place it you are mainly interested in the view and you have the right expectations
Liana Ganescu — Google review
The view is incredible and that is basically what you are paying for. The restaurant is so freaking cool in general. You are basically in a mini castle / watch tower. It’s straight from game of thrones and the ambiance is straight down that alley. All the dishes were done right, the beef fillet was real nice. The fish was good too. Would go back. Definitely check it out for the views alone. The salt cod was also nice. The vegetables were cooked well.
Gregory Dunn — Google review
What a gem! Best culinary experience we had in 5 Terre. We tried the tasting menu. Every plate was delicious and elegantly presented. The view was amazing. The service was attentive. I strongly recommend this restaurant! (Make a reservation if you want to fully enjoy the experience)
Zhenni Q. — Google review
Beautiful views which barely compensate for the rude and unprofessional service. The food is less than mediocre and overpriced. The attitude of the waiters was unfriendly - imagine, we asked for olive oil to dip the bread in and they said we can only bring the olive oil you when you order
Kamal Shehadi — Google review
Beautiful outlook and setting, servers are friendly and helpful, wine list features a lot of local wines that are moderately priced. The menu is nice but dominated by raw seafood. We went for lunch and dinner and found so much raw seafood a little overwhelming which is saying something as we love raw dishes. Some flavors of the dishes were a little off the mark, great ideas but execution was missing just a little. Definitely worth going and be sure to reserve in advance for dinneror arrive at 12:30pm to get a table at lunch
Robert Joseph — Google review
We came here based on reviews and knew we’d either have an incredible experience or an expensive and average experience. It is very expensive and the prices are definitely accepted because of the view, which is stunning. Make sure you walk around the whole restaurant. Just the raw seafood platter was almost €40 and it was SO small. The menu has a lot of local wines which is lovely. The two pasta dishes we got were underwhelming and felt like there was something missing - a bit of flare etc. Total bill for a shared starter and two pastas, with a bottle of wine was €137. We booked in advance for dinner and were seated on the town side of the restaurant and not the sea side. Perhaps request the sea side if you book in advance. Or just go for a drink and save yourself a lot of money.
Courtney Scales — Google review
The view is amazing, the food is amazing, the people are nice and the place is worth the money. If you love wine, especially rosé, try the “Rosa dei Venti, Sassarini”, you will remember this wine forever! Thank me later! I only gave them 4 because they wouldn’t give us a table with a view like they promised when we booked. The hostess made it seem like it’s not possible, she even used profane words in front of us, but at the end it turned out everything is possible. They realized their mistake and fixed it.
Marija Janevska — Google review
The view is great but you can get this view walking around the town. The beef tartar and fish of the day were super bland. The octopus pasta was really nice but it’s so pricey that the value for money is not there. The waiter are on automatic mode like robots. We paid 120€ for 2 people (4€ pp for coperto, a fee that you pay just to seat at the table). I wouldn’t go back or reccomend.
Patrícia Teixeira Costa — Google review
What a treat! Yes - they have a table for one - dropped in on spec - and I could have lingered for hours. Seated with an incredible view and offered a diverse choice of local food. The raw seafood platter was delicious and memorable. Followed with a simple spaghetti with olives, semi roasted cherry tomatoes and fresh anchovies. Finished up with a dessert combination of crunchy biscuit with chocolate ice cream and salted caramel Excellent service.
Helen McGowan — Google review
This was the most incredible meal experience. The view is to die for, the staff were kind and helpful and the meal was literally the best meal we have ever eaten. Do yourself a favor and try the porchetta wrapped rabbit. There are no words for how incredible that was. The pesto gnocchi was also good, but slightly bland, add Parmigiano. The wine was a local white and delicious, and the desserts were perfetta. All around, great and wonderful meal.
Megan C. Lindsey — Google review
What to say... you pay for the place. The attention is good but it will depend on how many people there are, the waiters are a bit clueless, but very attentive at the same time, going to dinner is somewhat expensive I think one of the most expensive in town, is it worth it? and it is very subjective, I think that the most beautiful thing is to go see the sunset and eat something accompanied by a few drinks. The complete menu without dinner drink was 80 Euros + covered if I'm not mistaken, it's somewhat high. but in short you have to go enjoy the sunset.

Ice cream shop
Alberto Gelateria has been a beloved fixture in Corniglia since 1999, offering some of the finest gelato in the area. The owner, Alberto Melandri, takes pride in using fresh ingredients such as basil from his own garden to create unique flavors like basilico. Visitors appreciate the efficient service and friendly staff, with Alberto himself often checking in on customers. The store's charming decor adds to the experience, while their waffle cones are particularly praised.
Amazing gelato and we have tried like 12 places all over Italy! They had a basil and olive oil gelato homemade from their basil and their olive tree. Mango was amazing also.
Radha Kelley — Google review
Beautifully decorated store with very good gelatos. I tried pistachio, hazelnut and cherry, all of them are very good flavors. Their waffle cones are very fresh, one of the best I had in Italy. The female staff is extremely sweet and welcoming, you can feel that in the passion towards her from groups of little local boys by the window :-)

Yummy! Lemon and Basil flavored Gelato! On your way to the Plaza, just follow the line of people waiting to get into this very tiny, but very popular space. Worth the effort and wait though... delicious!
Richard Ward — Google review
I’m pretty sure most gelato would have tasted good after climbing all of Corniglia’s stairs, but Alberto’s was definitely worth the hype! We got the basil lemon and honey (miele de corniglia) flavor, and both were delicious. We also tried the lemon slushees – other reviews have mentioned that they were mostly ice, but we found them to be refreshing and very flavorful! The store is tucked into one side of a narrow alleyway that gets crowded easily, so try to exit the area after getting your dessert so other people can pass through. We sat on the benches in the main plaza by the bus stop, where there was also a nice view of the mountainside.

Staff are super nice and helpful, spoke good English. Their fresh orange juice was very nice and refreshing after our hike. They have nice gelato flavours, the group favourite was mango. The lemon slushy was very sour! Make sure you know what you're getting

Worth the walk up the 300+ stairs in Corniglia. The Basil flavor is amazing. They had a special with a Lemon slushie drink and add the Basil gelato on top. Perfect to cool down after a walk up the stairs and get you prepared to walk back down. Views are great from the top.

In the running for top gelato. Great little spot with plenty of staff so you don’t have to wait. It was so good I actually went back in the same day. Tried both the coffee and the pistachio. Both were tasty but the pistachio had the edge. Best part was while I was eating my ice cream the owner Alberto came out of the shop at the end of his shift. He checked in on a family that he sold ice cream to earlier and asked them how it was. They said it was great and then asked if he could take a photo with them. He stopped and chatted for a few minutes and took the photo at the end of the shift when you could tell he was on his way to get home. What a great little local spot.

Good artisanal gelato at the heart of cinque! Try the local honey - the flavour is distinct and not too sweet. Perfect for the hotter weather, or if you just feel like eating ice cream! Small cone was priced at 3 euros, a steal.

If youre in Manarola, be sure to visit Trattoria dal Billy- known for its amazing seafood and dramatic views of the sea. Theres a bit of a wait to get seated, but it definitely worth it once you're there.
If you have only one day and you want to eat out and make it worth, this is your place. Not only the plage is really good value for money, but everything that we tried was very tasty. It is one of those places that when you look at the menu you wish you were a group of 10 so you could get everything on the menu. We were only 2 but we did pretty well. We did the selection of starters ( easily a selection of 8 tapas style of most of their starters) then we got pasta for 2 and a tuna steak. We struggled but we finished everything, and we accompanied the meal with a nice wine and dessert. We did pay a bit more than £100 so keep that in mind. Its not the cheapest place, but worth every penny. The service was impeccable. The only negative (to mention something) is that if you eat outside they don't have heaters for every table and it might get a bit cold.
Albert Jordana — Google review
As many others have said, this restaurant has incredible views. You do have to go uphill through the town to get there but it is worth it. The food was great, not the best we had in Italy but still very good. The restaurant was quite packed when we arrived for lunch, though we showed up without reservations they were able to seat us and informed us that as long as we finished by 2pm we would be okay. That was plenty of time for us to enjoy the food and view.
David Tseng — Google review
We tried the seafood sampler appetizer which was good but not great. Some samplers didn’t need to be there like the puff pastry with smoked salmon, whereas other plates were amazing and interesting to try like raw fish with sweet pickled onions. The pastas are amazing! Especially their signature Billy’s pasta. But the portions are huge! If only the pastas were more delicately plated with smaller portions, we would have loved to try more food but even the pastas were too much after the seafood sampler. Would definitely come back and try other dishes.
Bella Mur — Google review
Very good restaurant in Manarola. Please reserve in advance. It is unlikely to get a table if you just walk-in. Possibly best location in the village to see the sunset while eating. May be that's why it is bit overpriced compared to portions. Food was very tasty. Staff is friendly and professional. Service was quick. Overall, I would suggest to visit if you don't mind spending some extra for luxurious view. One star less for smaller portions for price.
Dhruv Bhatt — Google review
Idyllic water view, amazingly fresh seafood and wonderful service means a very special occasion for any visitor. Booked the AirBnB just uphill and explored Billy's menu with sheer delight. Be prepared for an exceptionally steep descent on steps down to the restaurant, but it's so worth it! No reservations available, so be first in line to get the best table!

We had a wonderful dinner. The food is tasty, the servings are large and the service was great. We had a table at the terrace with a view of the town and the sea. Its recommended to make a reservation to avoid disappointment.

I'm not sure why but the food I had here was really bad compared to expectations. The view is really nice but the food was definitely not good quality. It might have been a different chef than usual, but the pictures of the food look completely different and much better than what we got. Take a look at the pictures of the food we got. The tuna was quite overcooked and the pasta had very little flavor, just salty. This restaurant is probably worth a try but maybe order one thing first to make sure you like it before you order more.

Beautiful setting nestled in the mountain with a sea view table. We did have to hike up to find this but it’s worthwhile. Family friendly. One star down because the lobster pasta we had, I felt had more pasta than lobster (compared to other photos I’ve seen in this review); and there’s only one restroom so there can be a long queue (with not a lot of spaces to queue), so can get a bit messy. But all in all, we had still enjoyed our experience. Waiters can speak so many languages!

One of the best meals we've had in Italy. We ordered the mussels, lobster pasta, and lemon sorbet. They were all very tasty. The lobster pasta is portioned for 2 and the portion is pretty generous. Getting there from the train station and port is quite a hike, a lot of stairs, so not extreme accessible for anyone who has mobility challenges. We arrived right as they opened and was able to get a table with no wait.

This place is located high up in Manarola which lends it to have unique views of the vineyards, town, and sunset. Definitely make a reservation as it's always busy! The food was delicious. I had caprese and octopus starters and the lobster special as the main. All very good. My only downside is that the sun can be strong during sunset, even with their shades. So bring some sunglasses for dinner.

Another very good restaurant. The pasta dishes were generous and the shaded table was welcome cover from the midday sun. The view was also fabulous. You’ll stumble across this unassuming place if you venture away from the main tourist drag. Arrive at noon sharp and you should be ushered to a table without reservation....

This is we’re we enjoyed our last dinner out in Tuscany. Reservation recommended if you want the best tables although most of the tables offer incredible views of Manarola. We enjoyed seafood and pasta along with a great bottle of wine. The service was very good with friendly knowledgeable servers. It is a steep walk up to the restaurant from the water but well worth it. The prices are at the higher end however most of the secondi can be shared.

Dine with a beautiful sunset, this is a place to be with great service, great food & great value !! We had a really cosy relaxing dinner and I also love their house Prosecco 👌 Highly recommended 👍 Here are some photos I took and do follow my food journey at Instagram: kazzz_bits_bobs_food

Great place! We had late dinner reservations so we couldn't enjoy the view (definitely go for lunch or an early dinner!). The house wine was delicious and we got the pesto pasta for an appetizer. It was tasty but nothing showstopping. The seafood pasta was fabulous, though! Our only complaint was a few broken shells we unpleasantly chopped on, but it was nothing we couldn't handle. Overall, we're excited to go here again in the future!

Really lovely service from the team here! We made a booking for 7pm and at no point felt like we were rushed to leave. All the staff were attentive, amazing with their recommendations and took their time to describe each dish. The views at sunset were amazing! The lobster linguine had heaps of lobster and came with tools to crack open. I felt it could have been seasoned a bit better however once we mixed in the sweet tasting lobster meat with the linguine it was perfect! Highly recommend the mixed appetiser platter. Such a good way to experience lots of mini local dishes.

First of all AMAZING VIEW. Definitely worth the trek up. Best aperol spritz we’ve had in Italy so far. The Seafood Spagetti was amazing, as well as the daily special of Swordfish with Truffle Pasta, a bit small, so would suggest an appetizer. We had an incredible experience here, so happy we came. Would recommend getting a reservation a couple weeks beforehand. Cover charge is 3.50euro.

Food was really good here, and the views if you managed to secure a seat by the window is stunning! We ordered two portions of the lobster pasta to share and a side of octopus with potatoes and it was really good, and enough for the 4 of us! The owner seems like a very nice man, and spoke perfect English! The only two things to note is that the cover charge is quite high: €3.50 per person (other places are usually about €1.50 per person) and secondly, this place is situated quite high up and there are a lot of stairs to climb to get to this place! Other than that, I really enjoyed the food and would come back!

Very good dinner! We were so expected to be having seafood after such a long time and the dinner did not disappoint us. Everything is very fresh. I love the seafood pasta as it was so full of the seafood flavour and the grilled potatoes with tomatoes were very good too. Very attentive service and we went without a reservation but didn’t have to wait long (30mins) maybe bcos it’s low season now (my guess).

Very good seafood, with lots inside and not that expensive ! The view is great and the restaurant façade typique from the cinque terre !

This is a gem. We really enjoy our dinner. We sat on the lower dinning room at night and it was very quiet and peaceful. Our servers were very friendly. They walked us through the menu and recommended wines. We had the seafood pasta and the spicy pomodoro pasta. They were both handmade and REALLY tasty. We also had the prosciutto and burrata with pesto—it goes well with the bread!

We had this place recommended by the owner of the apartment we rented. The restaurant is very cute with an amazing view. However, the food was not that great, we took the special of the day which was pasta with lobsters. The lobster was not fresh and chewy and the pasta although "fresh pasta" was not up to Italian standards with the sauce smelling fishy and the flavor was not that yummy. It was also very salty. At the end we paid 100 euros for a food that would only worth 10 euro. Very disappointed

We were lucky to get a table during lunch as we didn’t have a reservation. Came just before opening and glad we got a nice table with a view. Food was delicious!! Love the calamari and the squid ink pasta. Portion was too big, we couldn’t finish. The only downside was the waiting time for food.

This is a real gem, worth every step of the uphill trek from the waterfront of Manarola. We had a fantastic baked seabass (expertly and lovingly deboned by Julia - hope I got the name right), tagliatelle and potato salad. Their signature is crab and lobster spaghetti (huge portion, even for two) but it would be too much for us. If you get an outdoor seat, the view of the sea is a real treat.

Seafood restaurant
Ristorante La Posada is a charming spot that specializes in traditional Ligurian cuisine, offering a variety of delectable dishes such as octopus salad and seafood soup. The restaurant boasts a scenic terrace, rooftop bar, and outdoor seating for guests to enjoy. Visitors rave about the melt-in-your-mouth braised beef and pasta with wild boar at this seafood-centric gem in Cinque Terre.
The food here was good. I got the seafood pasta and my partner got the Roma salad (shrimp, smoked salmon, avocado). Both were tasty. The view is really nice. It looks over the Ligurian Sea and the Corniglia train station. The only downside is there were lots of flies. But they weren’t that bad.

Located right a top the stairway of the train station, it's a convenient spot to grab a bite and a drink while you wait for the train. The food was okay. We ordered the grilled seafood plate and pesto pasta. The seafood was a little bit under-seasoned for my preference, but overall the meal was pleasant. The view on the terrace is pretty and the olive trees are a nice touch.

Incredible view from a patio of olive trees and very good food (our favorite in Corniglia after staying two days). Two things to consider: The portions were slightly larger than we've gotten used to in Italy and we bought too much, and the service was not very fast -- this is not a place to eat if you're in a rush.

Beautiful view, tasty food, great wine, and good service! We can recommend the cod fritters, gnocchi, and tuna. The fritters came with a red onion marmalade that was delicious. The gnocchi with cod had a lot of lemon. The tuna was encrusted with pistachio and came with a tasty guacamole. Nice wine list. A little expensive but the view and quality of food justify it.

Stopped there for lunch after climbing those stairs and we were lucky enough to have space on the terrace overlooking the bay. Our waiter was nice and funny although sometimes refusing people who just wanted drinks, and sometimes not 🤔Food was decent without being spectacular but overall, mainly because of the great location, we had a great lunch. Tiramisu was BIG.

Good views of the sea, very mediocre food, let down by bad service. After a hike up the stairs, we were greeted by a gentleman waiter who confirmed our booking and showed us to our seats. As we were just getting settled, a lady waitress came at us seemingly with a vengeance. She barked at us for not being shown to our seats, and told us to ask her before being seated. Flabbergasted, we looked blankly at the male waitress who showed us in and he quickly explained to her colleague that we were showed in. However, the damage was done. Honestly, it seemed downright racist, as she didn’t accost other couples sitting down at the same spot. The waitress offered no apologies, and the male waiter offered us an extra cup of tea for the embarrassment. Food: if you like bread with the texture of rocks, you’re in the right place. Taking a bite of the bread will cost you a trip to the dentist. Otherwise, pesto and seafood pasta we got were mediocre. Fried seafood was akin to those you can get at other restaurants nearby Atmosphere: nothing bad to say here, we were seated at the terrace and the sun set as we dined - with a grumble

This was one of the best meals we ever had in a restaurant ever ! Will definitely come back again ! We started with the chef special appetizer - an abundant plate of muscles, Accompanied by the Cinque terre red wine bottle (exquisite!). Followed by two main dishes - grilled seafood + pasta seafood they were both beyond our expectations ! We were very tempted about having dessert, but, decided that we really want ice cream in one of the extremely good glitteria - Alberto. (We did not regret the decision ;) ) After sitting down we saw the Google map reviews and were a bit worried. but ! We have to say service was excellent recommendation by the waitresses were exquisite and we have to reate this establishment 5+++ out of 5 ! Total price 108 Euro. Extremely recommended. Will come again ! 😋😋🤤😋😋

You must hike in to this place!! Corniglia is best experienced by hiking into town from Vernazza, otherwise you are just hiking up into town. The views are beautiful, the food is excellent, and the service was on point. Make sure you try the Tuna, it was delicious! Having a spritz with seafood pasta after a day of hiking was so refreshing. This place was very pricey, but well worth it. Also, we showed up around 4:30 and walked right in with no wait. This scratched the itch we were looking for at Nessun Dorma in Manarola, but we didn’t make it to. So happy for this beautiful spot.

We truly had such an amazing experience here, we went twice :) This was for sure our favorite restaurant during our Cinque terre trip. The food is so tasteful, you can really notice the ingredients are fresh and of good quality. I’m sensitive to gluten, but I had to try one of their pasta dishes and I actually felt good afterwards :) I for sure recommend the pasta with pistachio cream and red shrimps (you can always ask for more Parmesan if you’re a fan ;) ) and the sea bream with potatoes, tomatoes and olives (they already get rid of almost all the bones for you). And the tiramisu and red house wine, so delicious! Also the service is great, the waiters (and managers as well) are super friendly and knowledgeable, they work so hard, and even when it’s busy they still help you very fast in my opinion. And last but not least, the atmosphere is wonderful with a beautiful view. Highly highly recommend this place to everybody visiting Corniglia!

Lovely cozy restaurant with an amazing view. The food is delicious. The service is good. They even arranged some flowers on our table for our anniversary when requested. The music was good, didn't know half the time what they were playing. Would highly recommend this place to friends and family.

Excellent spot for quality food with a lovely view under the shade. Friendly service from people who are happy to serve tourists passing through. All of this seems to be otherwise hard to come by along Cinque Terre! Sure you pay a bit more, but you’re also in paradise. Just go and enjoy.

Fine dining restaurant
Il Marin is a restaurant with breathtaking views of the port of Genoa from its 3rd floor, and an innovative seafood menu. The rustic wooden tables, Renzo Rubino's luxurious decor, and welcoming staff make for a great dining experience. Prices are not high for the quantity and quality of food on offer, making it accessible to all. Il Marin is definitely worth a visit if you're in Genoa!
By far the best culinary experience I have had in Italy. The place was beautiful, right next to a window with a great view on the top floor. The staff could not be better, they were friendly and even though there was some limitations on the language it was still a great experience. The prices were not high for the quantity and quality. No doubt that I would come back here. If you are a tourist or local you must come and visit this place. I still cannot believe a paid 30eur for all these dishes.

Good food, great service, nice view. Fun to do a bit of food shopping after dinner. Very upscale market. Fine dinning restaurant. More so than Eataly or the restaurant on the ground floor. My second visit and I'd come back for a third.

Good food, amazing view. Nice staff but not very tentative. Had to ask for olive oil for 3 times and when I finally got it after 15 minutes it was empty

What a hidden gem in Genoa ! We had a superb lunch at Il Marin, which is nicely decorated and has a lovely view over the harbour. Both the food and the service were beyond our expectations ! Very creative food, top service, excellent wine list, all real value for money. The restaurant largely surpasses the level of many Michelin star restaurants we have visited and it should only be a matter of time before it gets at least one star.

Some of the most attentive and friendly waiting staff. The staff know the menu by heart in English and Italian, translating italian words fluently into english. There are only 8 tables and only 3 set menus to choose from, with the possibility of creating your own menu. Our waitress noticed the table was uneven, even before we noticed and immediately brought something to even it out. Whilst waiting for our table, a better table became available. We were asked if we could wait 3 minutes whilst they prepared the new table. When we were seated, we were asked what we wanted to drink, the drinks came and then our waitress explained the menu to us in detail. Her colleague then came over, asked which menu we had chosen and gave us recommendations as to which wines suited the menu we had chosen. I had heard the portions were small, so we opted for a 7 course meal. We had to skip 2 portions as it became too much food to eat. The food itself was very flavourful, each course was displayed beautifully and very flavourful. Not "traditionally" italian but they werent scared to experiment and add twists to discover new flavours which is very progressive and paid off because each course was very tasty and very unique. The price for a culinary experience like this was very very justifiable, so much so that I would have gladly paid more for the service and food we received.

Review for the temporary all'aperto (outdoor) bistrot Anciôa: We waited a while for someone to take our order. No one came, I waved to a waiter, he pointed us out to another waiter. No one came. After waiting more I waved again, then all three waiters were standing together, looking at us, discussing. Instead of coming to our table one waiter started cleaning another table.... Then we finally got up and left, no one tried to stop us or apologised. Absolutely absurd...

Fine dining, exquisite but pretentious. This is a nice, modern, airy room at the far end of the 2nd floor of the Eataly building in the old port (take the lift to the second floor and keep going, don’t lose heart!). When we were there the waitresses all spoke incredibly quietly, which was a pain for my 86 year old mother. I think it’s all part of their slightly Scandawegian vibe. Everything is very precise, you are given old wine boxes to put your handbags in for instance. There are many amuse bouche, most of which were lovely. But all served on a series of unlikely articles worthy of Dalston. The food was all lovely, really excellent, but it was not a place you would go to laugh or relax with friends. It’s all about style, restraint and precision. I would go back but it would not be a favourite if I lived in the city. The price was reasonable for the quality of the food.
