Hopefield Animal Sanctuary

Mentioned on
Animal shelter
Nature & Parks
Hopefield Animal Sanctuary is an impressive attraction with a vast variety of over 500 animals, which are all well taken care of. The larger animals have spacious enclosures that are thoughtfully designed. Visitors can spend a considerable amount of time exploring the sanctuary's offerings. The staff members are cordial, and the admission fee is reasonable, with ample parking available on-site. Although not visited this time, the cafe is a great place to dine in future visits.
This was a really lovely trip. We had not heard of it before and wanted something to do for the day so came along here. Really reasonable price to get in and a great selection of animals to go and see. it's obvious they care about getting the animals better as they all had good enclosures and looked well fed. Nicely laid out with plenty of things to see. Not too busy even though the car park was full when we left and we will definitely go back.

Our family visited Hopefield yesterday. They have an assortment of rescued animals from sheep, alpacas, horses to snakes, cats, and cows. They have a double-decker soft play bus and a huge bouncy castle. There was face painting, sand making, ceramic painting, and a tombola stall. The staff were friendly, and the onsite cafe was clean and reasonably priced. We received free adult tickets to visit again, which was lovely. I would highly recommend families to visit the sanctuary. It was a great day out enjoyed by all the adults and kids in our group.

This was our first visit to Hopefield and I was really impressed. There are a lot of animals here, over 500 according to the literature, and they are all very well cared for. The enclosures for the larger animals are vast and well laid out. You can easily spend a few hours here getting round everything. Staff are friendly, admission is reasonable and there’s plenty of parking available too. Didn’t visit the cafe but will certainly visit again in future and would happily recommend to others

Relaxing way to spend 1 to 3 hours with lovely rescured animals. They are so friends especially the horses You may also find here snakes, rabbits, wild birds and many more. A very nice place to bring you kids. Enter fee: 7,5 £
Philip Adrian — Google review
My little one enjoyed the visit. We took plenty of pictures with horses, donkeys, cows and rabbits. Had fun in Play area. Snakes and parrots are in the sanctuary too. Plenty of Parking space. We will visit again.

Have been to Hopefield's a fair few times including my work experience in 2013. Since then the place has expanded massively and they have taken in so many rescue animals of all kinds of unusual species too. A great charity that deserves a visit. Vegan cafe is lovely as well. Would definitely recommend anyone to visit.

Spent a bright sunny day with the kids in Hopefield Animal Sanctuary in Brentwood and it was super exciting :-) All the animals were so dear and well petted! Kids really enjoyed seeing so many animals at a closer proximity and were able to pet many of them! It was also the Sanctuary's 40th Anniversary and hence had a lot of kid friendly activities like Bungee jumping, Trampoline jumping, Bubble dome, Bus play, etc Overall it was a refreshing day, well spent with nature :-)
Deepa Sivaraj — Google review
Had a great time seeing all the animals, lovely staff and great atmosphere, looking forward to going back. The vegan cheese and onion toastie was great too
Sonic Doom 13 — Google review
We visited on recommendation and it’s really lovely, the animals have so much space and are well cared for. Great for kids as they can interact with many of the animals. They have a very nice play area with climbing frames, slides, etc. and they have a soft play bus and bouncy castle outside which was a brilliant bonus. Only negative is I didn’t think much of the cafe food, fine for snacks with ice creams and crisps but the baked food wasn’t great so we’ll probably pack lunch it next time.

Had a great day out visiting Hopefield Animal Sanctuary, Easter weekend. Plenty of room for parking. Very clean and tidy place, although wear wellies. I would of loved to see the Donkeys but couldn’t get across the path with my partner because of the huge puddle, he only had ankle boots on. It was fascinating to see the sheep, cows (which were massive). I loved seeing all the animals, reading their stories. Hopefield is founded on the belief of being kind to all living beings (something that I believe in). The Tea Room served a selection of drinks, cake. I had Oat Latte and a delicious slice of Home made Victoria Sponge cake, my partner Tea and Carrot cake, what I love is that everything is vegan because they take in rescued farm animals destined for the food chain. I had never been to Hopefield before until that day, all I can say is keep up the good work😃
judy taylor — Google review
Lovely afternoon spent walking round and meeting all the lovely rescue animals. Really nice play area and a bonus of the soft play bus/bouncy castle but watch out for the dinosaur 🦖 he gets very hungry lol. One major bonus is that you get a return ticket for free. A hidden gem.

Had a wonderful day out at the vegan/wellness fair, my second visit so far. I absolutely love this place, it is so vast and clean, and the animals are clearly well looked after. The vibe is amazing, as was all the food/treats we got this day.
Kerrilyn Jackson — Google review
Fantastic place to visit! You can see the how well cared for all of the animals are. Couldn't believe how cheap admission was for a family of 5! Has a lovely little gift shop and cafe. Free parking. They often do events too such as Halloween, Christmas and in the summer with inflatables, face painting etc. Well worth a visit.

Weald Country Park

Nature & Parks
Weald Country Park is a historic and expansive park spanning over 500 acres of woodlands, grasslands, wildflower meadows, and lakes. It is known for its impressive deer park, Stick Man trail, visitor center with a cafe and shop selling feed. This vast natural wonderland offers mesmerizing views and ample space for social distancing walks or other activities post-lockdown. Weald Country Park truly has something for everyone to enjoy.
A beautiful park - so much yo do and see. A helpful map at lots of points shows you where you are and the other areas to visit. There are wild deer, but we did not look this time instead feeding carrots to the deer living in the large fenced off area. There is a huge lake with a wooden play area at one end. Car parking charges apply also to disabled cars. There is a cafe, outside toilets and a shop. Will go back in the summer with a picnic 😀
Miss Glass — Google review
Lovely Park with plenty of parking and places to sit and relax. Pay for parking at the metre or online. Cafe is open till 4pm most days. Hot and cold food and drink. Feed the deer and ducks. It's very dry at the moment so take care with any naked flames. Plenty for young children to explore including woodland walks. I would recommend for a visit.
Mark Connolly — Google review
Lovely place to take a walk. Have to pay for parking £2.80 for up to one hour £4 for up to two hours Card or contactless or app payment . Deer. Can feed them carrots. Geese, ducks and 2 play areas.
Sophie Rumary — Google review
An amazing place for a family outing. It has got a large pond of swans and ducks. A mini zoo of deer. Beautiful place to enjoy a sunny weekend. There are number of playgrounds to keep the little ones busy. Only 15 mins drive from Brentwood station and 10 mins drive from Brentwood High street.
Dr. Fahim Abrar Hossain — Google review
We loved this place! Acres and acres of beautiful Essex countryside. We noticed most people had back packs, which is sensible, as you can easily get lost in the woods so a map and provisions wouldn't go amiss. For horse riders there are dedicated bridle paths too. There is also a little cafe, that was selling a limited menu, but perfectly fine for a quick top up of tea, coffee and cake!
Carol Lawson — Google review
We were on a road trip from Limoges, France to Dundee, Scotland and happened upon this place by accident. We stopped to take a break from driving and to walk our dog for a bit. It was absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. We will stop again on our way back home.
Courtney Thomas — Google review
Big and nice park. Fields, forest and lakes. Dog friendly. Cafe with nice food/drinks including vegan options (cake was divine!). Deer are really easy to see and lovely. Enough parking but does cost and have to pay on an app. People were doing an organised run when I last visited so that's an option for people interested. Would recommend, especially feeding the swans with food purchased from the cafe.
Caprice Joseph — Google review
Love this place the kids ask to come back here had a good walk around came close to deer many Times when you turn around and their all behind you I imagine a great place if you can walk around quietly too but parks keep the kids energy levels up. Managed a 6 mile walk around the park always a great day out.
Emma Doman — Google review
Lovely place, definitely worth a visit. The deers themselves are located adjacent to the visitor centre (where there is a cafe and toilets). The deer were friendly and beautiful to watch. There is a lot of stunning scenery to witness if you fancy a nice walk too. The only downside is the car park was pay and display, however, as the park is free to visit, paying seems fair, helps toward the upkeep of the park. The facilities were very clean and the staff inside the cafe were very friendly and helpful.
Matthew Barrett — Google review
Beautiful park. We entered through visitors centre entrance. There is a paid parking space. A small playground for kids at the entrance. Nice place to have picnic, day tour and enjoy walk.
Nazmul Hasan — Google review
We had a great time so much so my 2 year old refused to leave. We will be back as we didn't do the whole trail so missed a lot of the stockman carvings. There's a few play areas for the kids and a cafe and toilets that were in good clean condition. There was also a den building part in the woods. There is so much open space would be ideal for kite flying or just relaxing and having a picnic. The deer were gorgeous and I believe you can buy feed from the cafe to give to them and the ducks on the lake.
Cleo Walters — Google review
Beautiful place if you Want and nice relaxing walk the chance to see some deers and sit by the lake. Toilets are very clean. Little play area for the kids to go and play. Staff in the little cafe are lovely and welcoming too. Would definitely recommend visiting.
Chantel Browning — Google review
Large park great for longer walks 2 hours or so, play areas for kids and a deer enclosure. Lake with plenty or wildlife and ducks etc. Depending on time if year can be a bit muddy so consider foot wear and wellies for kids. Wooded areas also but again these can be muddy or a bit marshy in places. You need to pay for parking which does take CC or use parking app. Cafe onside with drinks and some food.
Mark Isherwood — Google review
Lovely peaceful place to spend sunny days either on your own or with your family. You can have a nice pic-nic. I believe BBQ is not allowed as I have not seen any specific area allocated for it but, better to doble check it yourself. You can enjoy the presence of some animals too, like geese and deer. Plenty of benches to rest. Plenty of parking. However, not the cheapest one around (for reference, 2hrs - £5).
Mattia Giovannini — Google review
This is a lovely country park. Good parking toilets and cafe. 2 lakes woodland and beautiful views. The deer are lovely too and they come right to the fence to see you
Sue Lockwood — Google review
Nice park, big spaces and a few nice play areas. Parking is 2.80 for 2 hours. Ice cream truck is £££! Cafe is okay, not huge selection due to stock. Stick man trail is currently not on, but not advertised before. Cool seeing the deer

Old MacDonald's Farm is a small, family-run farm with the usual zoo suspects, alpacas, wallabies and owls, plus kid's rides. The staff are friendly and amazing at their jobs, the play areas are all five stars, and the food is also very tasty and served quickly. There is always someone there to clean up any mess quickly. There is plenty of parking available. This place was fantastic for a family day out!
Amazing experience with my little ones.... Everyone enjoyed everything... Especially the tractor rides.. Playing in the sand... And little animals aswell💖definitely we are going back for another adventures💖
Alexandra Balcu — Google review
Fun experience with family. Farm animals with facts in detail were very helpful. Highly recommended. Exploring the whole farm and trying different rides was interesting. As we visited on Friday the fun event for kids was tattooing. The overall experience was wonderful.
Sony Issac — Google review
The whole place is very wonderful! The kids love it! The rides are all inclusive with your tickets so you do not have to pay any extra for the rides. There isn’t a very long wait and we went on Mother’s Day and the longest line we waited in was only 15 minutes, so not bad at all! The farm itself is really nice they have a lot of animals, we loved the rabbits! The food and drinks is nice, play areas are very nice too. Would wholeheartedly recommend this as a fun and entertaining weekend out with the family, lots of things to do to keep the little ones happy! The service was wonderful thank you so much!
Andreea Delia — Google review
Great family fun day out. They have a lot to offer for your little ones. Different animals to see. Multiple soft play area and playgrounds. And the rides are very child friendly. Doggy ride was the favourite. Friendly staff too! Will definitely be back.

Overall a very enjoyable experience. We went on Easter Monday so lots going on on the day. Parking is tight if your not there for the opening hour so get in early like we did. There was lots to keep my 6yr old busy and happy and lots of interactive play areas to keep them active and there mind buzzing. We spent the best part of 4.5hrs there so definitely made the most of the day. Face painting / painter was amazing and my daughter loved her Baby Chic mask. As I say, overall a great, enjoyable and fund experience for us all

We have been before to old Macdonald’s farm but not for a long time. We went today (Friday 8th of April) and we could not fault it. The staff are so friendly and amazing at their jobs! The play areas, farm and rides are all five star! My little boy aged 9 loved every part of it and thoroughly enjoyed the whole day! We can’t wait to come back! The food was also really tasty and served extremely quickly! There was always someone there to clean up any mess really quickly! There is loads of parking too! I cannot fault this place at all! Fantastic family day out!

This farm and fun park is an amazing place to visit if you have kids.. This place is close to M25 and the park has ample parking space. We had so much fun and the day we spent there will stay in our memory forever. We visited the park during the Halloween festival and there were extra attractions during this time such as haunted house , pumpkin patch ,pick your pumpkin etc. There are a variety of animals in the farm such as alpacas, rabbits, cows, meerkats, kangaroos etc . It is a Wheelchair user friendly park as well. As we visited this place during Halloween festival /school holiday time , the park was quite busy /crowded which is expected. There were long queues in front of the coffee shops/ food shops and that is the only thing I didn’t enjoy. Overall , we had a lovely experience there.
E K — Google review
Plenty of play areas and rides to keep our 3yo and 7yo entertained. It's a shame you can't get up close to most of the animals and some are even too far away to see. Food and drink prices are highest I've seen at similar venues (£2.20 for a small carton of juice and nearly £8 for two hot drinks). Love the themed cows dotted around.
Dan Hutson — Google review
The place was definitely a very good experience for us. It was easy to find. The parking ground was full of cars, but the overflow car park had plenty of space left. It is very good that even the overflow car park has bins. We went after 2pm which was much cheaper for the three of us. 3 hours has exhausted our child anyway. The park have lots of hand wash places available and it is very recommended to use it as often as possible. There is plenty of rides and other stuff, playgrounds and soft plays. It is very good that lots of playgrounds are covered by shades, it was very pleasant even in a hot day. Few little one person ride machines are working with coins, so it is suggested to have few pound with you as cash if your child is that age. There are different farm animals around the park, there is opportunity to feed them, but not from hand to mouth. They are to roam free in their own place, not really interested in visiting humans. In the park there is plenty of little kiosks offering food, drinks, freshly made donut 🍩 ice cream. A cup of coffee was £3.70 which is quite pricey but well.. other food stuff like burger and chips and combos like this was £6-8 (if my memory serves right) all kiosks had accepted card. I saw lot of ppl with buggies, but the walking paths are grainy, not concrete, so if your child is over 3, I would probably skip buggies unless you have a nice big wheel on it. I tried to put rules of rides as photo as well as one of the cafe kiosk’s offer too. Definitely a great day, we will be visiting again.
veronika szabo — Google review
We had a fantastic day. Attended with a 6 year old and a 1 year old. Enough to do for both of them. The Halloween festival was great and set up really well. We will definitely be returning in the summer and even thinking Christmas.
Tanya Carter — Google review
Amazing place to take my 5 yr old son. He enjoyed it to the fullest. We stayed in the farm for 5 hrs till closure and he would still want to spend more time. Spending time with farm animals to the wonderful events, from the awesome rides to delightful food - I would recommend this place for everyone having kid less than 6-7 yr old to visit OMD. Time flies here, so make sure you come in early to experience it all.
Milin Shah — Google review
Well maintain, We had a GREAT DAY! I been here 5 years ago with my nephew, this time I taking my own 3 year old boy! Everything still pretty well maintaining, bring back all lovely memory I had. My kid loves all the rides (especially the TRACTOR, we manage to ride 4 times), queue was not long and it was very quick. Few different type and age range of playgrounds, and we got surprise there is a MAGIC shows too. The burger is nice, fried are super crispy. Good variety of food and drink and couple food stall make us easy to reach when we need. If you kids want a quiet afternoon nap, can consider go near the event tent area. It is quiet and calm when no event is held. It is not huge but good for little one , and plenty of hand wash facility. Personally I don't like the petting animal, I find the animal are stress and keep trying to run away from kid.
Y YF — Google review
It so existed than we expected. The very first time we experienced snowfall was in December (11th Dec) from my history in London. It was not very crowded when we visited in the morning. But, during the daytime average crowd. The waiting time was a maximum of 5 minutes for a ride. A Hot coffee break and 2 rides then a Hot snack break and 2 rides. So the Cafe and quick food service was amazing, but the queue was longer than any rides. 😆 We enjoyed it a lot as a family. Hope you guys will have a great time this holiday. Merry Christmas.🎄🎅❄️
Ramji Kannan — Google review
Great family day out. It gets very busy so you have to pre-book tickets online. Get in early to find parking on site which is free. It has a nice range of animals and a few shows to entertain young kids. Has a few places to eat and get hot drinks and desserts. The best part of the farm is the rides and play areas that come included in the purchase of the ticket. Highly recommended if you have children under the age of 10.
Bash Hussain — Google review
Highly recommend and great day out for your little one! You can buy food to feed the animals, where there’s little slots to put the food down. I would suggest buy at least 4 packets so your little one can go round feeding most of them. There’s food stands and picnic areas where you can bring your own snacks to sit down and eat. It’s playful and fun. So much to do and see here. Second time he’s been here and we would come again. Thank you for accommodating.
Bon Bon?s Beauty — Google review
This was an amazing day out with the family. There are activities for children of all ages, from soft play to tractor rides, petting animals and little rollercoasters. It was fantastic. I also really appreciated how halal was also catered. We booked in advance which also meant we saved a little money. The circus was a summer feature and the children really enjoyed it. The train ride was definitely one of the highlights. The driver was full of energy and even brought some of the animals up close for everyone to see Definitely will be coming back here again.

For the first time today we spent the day at the Halloween half term! We all had such a wonderful day. There was so much to do for the children and the staff were so friendly. We was greated as soon as we got into the park by two lovely staff member's. I would like to make a shout out to warren who worked on reception. We was visiting with a family member who has additional needs but there was some confusion with the ticket. Upon arrival he was wonderful! Very understanding and helpful. He apologised for the mix up and made sure we got a wristband for the rides. We have been many places similar in the past but this was the first time we have been treated so well and warren was very calm about the situation which made it so much smoother entry. Very pleased & will be visiting again. 100% would recommend.

A fun filled day spent with kid who loved the rides and animals. They have various rides like tractor, train, crazy barn, horse adventures, a carousel horse ride and a roller coaster (high restriction of 1.2 meter applies) etc. They have a gigantic slide but is only suitable for kids up to 10 years of age. There are animals such as cows, alpacas, meerkats, guinea pigs, tortoises, rabbits, sheep, goats and chickens etc. They have a soft play area for kids. I would suggest to buy tickets online as you get a slight discount. Children under 2 go free. Cafe is good too and plenty of parking spaces. Friendly staff.
Arif Khan — Google review
First time here. Parking space is good. Price is reasonable although adult charges are high for the use. Weather was ok albeit a bit rainy. Most rides were on. Lots of play areas for children of different age. Farm animals and some other animals (wallabies etc.) spread around. Had coffee from one of the stands which I wouldn’t recommend. Did not try the food. It must be much nicer to visit during spring/summer.
Glafkos Havariyoun — Google review
As we didnt check that, not sure, but we think that its better to have a car or taks Uber, as this nice place is away from common roots. Otherwise very nice place to spend a day in summer with your children. There are farm animals kids can learn about, funny statues of farm animals, a lots of places to run, have fun and if your kid is not too much into pigs, goats or chicken, there are few rides even I as adult enjoyed. We celebrated 2yo Birthday and it was awesome and he enjoyed every bit. Try it!
Olafs Osipenko — Google review
Amazing day for a Christmas outing for a 1yr old. Cannot wait to bring a 2yr old back next year. Well done for the Christmas experience Great value for money. Food and drinks were all reasonably priced. Burger was the best option, chicken burger over fried and extremely greasy. Apart from that had a wonderful day with family. Thank you
J Low — Google review
Brilliant place...considering we went in the pouring rain, yes there is a lot to do outside but there was soft play inside and the odd thing inside too. Even a few protected rides. This was our first visit and pleasantly surprised that there is concrete flooring throughout the farm so no need for wellies. We will be back! Especially as we got a free entrance ticket for my son from attending the Christmas event. We even got a little drawstring bag on entrance with some bits and bobs too.
Debbie Alleyn — Google review
A fantastic festive experience for all the family! We have been to Old MacDonald Farm once before but not during Christmas time. The Christmas parade was really sweet, the singing sisters were great and seeing Santa walking around was lovely, especially when it started 'snowing'.
Natasha Cosstick — Google review
Not been before, always saw from the motorway and glad we booked for this Halloween 🎃 was a great day out! Brilliant for kids, great selection of animals easy to see, feeding is optional on some which is great, rides are really good decorations was good too. Great photo opportunity’s too for halloween. All kids had a ticket for free pumpkin which thought was a lovely thought. Efficient parking facilities. The cafe option, could do with an enclosed indoors for rainy day, was lucky with the weather on our day.

I came to visit a friend recently, who took me here on a tour of the gardens. It was interesting reading about the different plants and trees on information panels around the grounds. The gardens are well maintained which made for great photo opportunities, as well as an enjoyable walk.

Very nice nature reserve, set in the ruins of an old manor. The place is quite well located so it ‘doesn’t’ get a lot if visitors, you can have a nice relaxed walk around without feeling you need to move on. Lots of interesting birds and other wildlife can be found here making it a great all round experience. Some reviews say you can only spend an hour here, which I guess is right if your not really looking at the place.
Spencer Hawken — Google review
Fabulous gardens! Real pleasure & a joy to walk round the gardens. Never seen so much daffodils & snowdrops in one place! Looking forward to the bluebells next. A bonus to have a car park there too. Free entry & car park.
Merry Unwin — Google review
How could I have not known about this delight?! Though I wish I could keep it a secret as it's such a magical place. Originally a garden of substantial means in the 19th and early 20th century, (fascinating history to explore) this woodland has reverted to a natural oasis. The curators, Essex Wildlife Trust, have and are doing a wonderful job of showing off the flora and fauna to it's best advantage. The place is huge and we spent a good 2 hours slowly meandering along its paths. There are lots of seats to rest upon. Parking is very limited which only adds to this place's charm.

A hidden gem. On the site of the ruins of a stately home. With a garden layout that only old money could have made possible, being sympathetically restored by Essex Wildlife trust volunteers. Fantastic 700 year old Spanish Chestnut trees. Well signposted with lots of historical information and introduced me to gardening royalty Ellen Ann Willmott.

What a lovely place. First visit, nice walk with a few sets of steps, lovely enormous trees. There are signs along the route which are numbered that tell you about the history of the site. Pieces of restoration going on whilst your walking about which add to the pleasure. Really nice. No dogs allowed which will upset some people but I thought it wad nice not to keep having to avoid them.
steve aylett — Google review
Lovely place to visit, daffodils and bluebells are amazing along with wild garlic. Interesting place to walk round. The volunteers do a great job of looking after the place.
David Gunther — Google review
Always a pleasant place for a gentle stroll, in spring it's especially lovely with snowdrops, crocuses and carpets of daffodils. There are also a couple of hides for the birdwatchers amongst us. Do bear in mind that this place is a nature reserve and not a park - strictly no dogs, please respect the wildlife and be careful not to trample on the flowers.
Zaj — Google review
Nice little nature reserve tucked away next to the Thatcher pub. Free parking (but aware on the weekend there is not many spaces) Lots of little walks and spring is the perfect time. Take boots if it's been wet. If you have limited mobility you can stick to the paths and higher ground. I would recommend a visit. Plenty of nature trails and a good variety of history

The site houses the Everyone Active building where one can indulge in soft play, laser tag, sensory room, golf, adventure playground and splash Park all under 10. Great park , a hidden gem in brentwood. Whether you are looking for kids play area or mini golf . A great walk in woods or sit and relax in a cafe, this place ticks all the options. Must visit. Just wana warn you for parking app, a total nightmare to register so better to keep some coins with you.

This is a nice park. Small and compact with lots in it. Play areas for family. Sensory garden with benches. Mini golf and adventure ropes for families. Bowling and an pavilion which includes a cafe. Parking is not free and is £1.10 for over 1 hours unless you park for less than 30 mins then it is free. Overall it's nice

Newly refurbished park. My kids love this place more now. Hope council will maintain this time. £3.50 for 25min of watershower Park. And softplay is £5 per hour per child. Good improvement in the area.
Fawad Ahmad — Google review
The car park is awful. The app is poor and you can’t pay by card at the machine. Reception is an issue so people are just gathered around the machines on their phones trying to pay. The plastic white caps outlining the bays are all broken and scattered on the ground so cars are parked at weird angles. Just use white blocks or white pebbles in resin or something Everything else is pleasant but the stress of trying to park and sort everything else out impacts on the experience
Sam Taylor — Google review
A very big park. Two car parks, pay and display. A massive play area for younger children. Climbing ropes and splash play areas, admission charge for both

Lovely park, perfect for all ages. Plenty to do with a new updated playground, splash park, adventure park, crazy golf, soft play and laser tag. 2 different car parks (pay and display), one either end of the park. Toilets are inside the new building and there is 1 down by the park with changing facilities. Food and drink can also be brought here.
Tracey Butcher — Google review
A great set of facilities although beware everything comes at a cost. Parking, water park, crazy golf, climbing frame. Everything costs extra. You’re allowed to sit on a bench for free.
Chris Gledhill — Google review
Great park, playgrounds, woods & other paid activities/facilities such as the splash pad & adventure climbing frames. The one awful thing that let's this place down is the parking which is dire - not due to the lack of spaces at all as there's plenty, but bizarrely the telephone/app payment service which is totally inaccessible - there is also a coin meter which i have never once seen in operation! Also worth noting is the Everyone Active website used to book the activities in advance. Absolute farce. Difficult to navigate, takes ages, and is very off putting. Really flipping expensive too! The splashpad is £5 for half an hour! Per child!! Half an hour definitely is not enough & not worth getting changed for, so unless you want really upset kids, you'll need at least an hour. Let's do the maths here - if you have 3 kids at £10 an hour each, with £5 for parking plus ice creams / drinks (we bought our own snacks but in the heat we still needed to buy stuff) it definitely isn't a cheap day out. Having said that, we have been just for a couple of hours, which meant minimal parking fee, and enjoyed the parks and woods for free. The trees provide much needed shelter from the sun on hotter days and it's a beautiful space. Oh, also available on site is a soft play centre which is well kept and clean, Tag/Laser Quest for older kids & crazy golf which we have yet to try out. Great community resource overall.

Saturday night out with friends. 3 courses meals. Food was very tasty and very well presented. I had the Skate and my husband had the Sea bass. Desserts , ice cream and chocolate fondant delicious. Only criticism we found the scallops starter a bit overpriced as only one per shell (two shells in plate) Pianist playing in the background. Staff professional and friendly. Would definitely recommend.

Golf Christmas dinner and it was excellent. Service great in every way. Professional friendly and attentive. Food wonderful. Atmosphere fabulous. Pianist playing in the background. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

Lovely food and atmosphere, the only thing I was not impressed with was the Mason bruschetta starters , it was just half of a mini toasted baguette, the ones you get from sainsburys, with normal sliced tomato and a slice of melted goat cheese. The mains of steak medallion , and also duck breast was amazing. The dessert 🍨 of strawberry stack shortbread was also very good.

My favourite restaurant has always been Smith's of Wapping, now I have two favourites! What an excellent restaurant. The service and staff was top notch, piano made it a relaxed atmosphere but grown up. As for the food, superb. Started with the pate, smooth and so much flavour. Next rib eye steak. I swear the chef read my mind and it could not have been more perfect. Soft, tender and so much flavour. Probably the best steak I have ever had and I have had some good steaks before. The desert was an apple Tarte tatan. This was delicious, perfect texture for the apple, rich smooth sauce and the ice cream was amazing. Overall this is a great place for a relaxed evening with friends. Food, music, service perfect. If you want a lively place don't go here, you'll be disappointed and have missed the point of what they are trying to do. The overall score is an absolute perfect 10 out of 10. Congratulations team.

Absolutely love Masons and the staff there are amazing. We recently had a return visit to celebrate my brother beating cancer and when Bradley realised he returned with a celebration plate for him. Nothing is ever too much trouble, the food is brilliant, the portion sizes are huge.

Our favourite place for a meal out in Essex. Wedding anniversary earlier this week and again enjoyed the food and service. We both have allergies and the team really looked after us, clearly understanding allergy risk, which is comforting and much appreciated. Thanks again Masons and see you soon.

I went with my friends a few days ago for lunch. The food was good. The atmosphere was nice. Easy to find parking space. However, the service could be better. We waited for a while to order our food. We noticed that one of waitress was checking her mobile phone not realized we were trying to get their attention to order our meal. One of us had to walk to them to get their attention to take our orders.
charis Condon — Google review
The food looked amazing as you can see and the waitresses were very nice and polite. However the taste was below average and the staff didn’t have the training of who to pour the wine for first, which side of the knife should face the plate, etc. If they claim to be fine dining they need to work on that. The pianist was also banging on the piano. The atmosphere was nice though and ample parking. The toilets could be fresher and nicer too. We paid 50 pounds per head for two courses plus one cocktail which is not cheap for Brentwood.

Great lunch experience. Dedicated vegan menu had many choices for three courses. Interior seating is spacious, comfortable and quiet. The service was first class (very attentive waiters) and the food good.

After a mix up with another restaurant my daughters birthday was saved by the lovely manager who went out of his way to seat 12 of us at very short notice. Our waitress Katarina was exceptional, the service was friendly and efficient and everyone enjoyed their food.

Nice vegan Jackfruit pizza. Great service. Would have been 5* if less oil had been used. I'll ask next time.

Great food and atmosphere the only criticism is they brought out the mains and two of them was wrong and we had to wait for them to rectify it. Otherwise I will definitely recommend.

We came for lunch, it was very nice. Plenty of choice on the menu (Veggie/Vegan/Gluten free, etc). A clean, tidy and spacious restaurant. All our food was well cooked, hot and nicely presented. Large portions. All the staff were very friendly and polite. Recommended
Peter Phelps — Google review
Portion sizes were dreadful, hardly any meat in two different main course dishes, one was a piece of pork less than 5mm thick and about 4-5 cm wide, however there were loads of potatoes, on one dish we counted 11.. The initial manager's attitude was "that is what it is", The second manager stepped in and arranged for a bit more meat on one dish. Do they think we won't notice a pile of potatoes and no meat?
Paul Bay — Google review
Good food & plenty of it. Didn't feel like they scrimped to still try and make a profit like so many poor restaurants lately (Cost of living crisis). Tasty dishes and good service. 👍
Diane Hibble — Google review
Ordered the non- gluten wagyu meatball arrabbiata ia delivery. The meatballs where chewy and had loads of gristle and the pasta was still rock hard and uncooked. The sauce was also so spicy it made my mouth burn and my lips went bright red. I couldn't eat it. I eat spicy food all the time, but this was way to spicy.
Leah Watts — Google review
We booked a table for 3 for Friday night, only to find the only free tables on the ground floor were either under the stairs in the dark ( not too sure if that's a ploy so you can't see what you're eating) or very close to a loud group of men. Very unhelpful front of house person that would rather you cancel your booking with them and walk out, than open the upstairs part of the restaurant that can accommodate more customers. I just can't see why you would not want to welcome more customers into your restaurant !
Gary Atkinson — Google review
Today I had lunch for the third time at this restaurant in Brentwood. Once again the food was not good. Cooking chicken and food in old oil is their r speciality. Last time I could not touch my chicken in breadcrumbs as I could taste the old oil which had given the food bad taste and this time again I could not eat my started (chicken and also mushrooms on some sort of bread) and pizza was slimy and not nice. In fact I will never ever go to Zizzi again as I have tried their several dishes and all cooked badly. The food is horrible and and actually thought of who the chef was. We go to restaurants to eat good quality food and not being serve with something that I won’t even feed my dogs. The chef should be sacked and apparently most Zizzi restaurants are the same.

Gastropub
This popular country pub with homely decor serves British cuisine plus kids' menu and bar snacks. The Bull is great for a gastro pub crawl, with hearty dishes like steak and Guinness pie and 28-day aged beef burgers. This great spot is also perfect for a quick bite or drink after shopping in the local area.
Popped in with a group of girlfriends for a late Sunday lunch. Food was speedy, plentiful and delicious, we all had different dishes and everyone was pleased. Slight confusion over one of the drinks but fairly insignificant thing. Only thing I'd flag is that it was quite warm in there and most our party felt quite hot by the end
Daniela Taylor — Google review
Went on a recommendation that the roasts are good. Was a bit underwhelming, the roast was below average, not very much and the duck roast potatoes were lacking flavour, crunch and just had this skin like the ones you get on frozen roast potatoes. Veg was just normal steamed veg. Yorkshire was ok and the meat was ok as well. Beef was a little dry, lamb was better so be sure to go for that but may depend on the day.

Hi, we visited the Bull, (restaurant area) on Tuesday evening of the 26th of March, and we can only say that the service was well below standard, each time we needed any service we had to go and look for someone and or wait for a long while, the servers were all hanging around the bar area more interested in talking and taking selfies with a group of male customers... Needless to say we couldn't see the manager who is normally there. Unfortunately we won't be back.... the food was decent, but as mentioned the service was awful, one of our friends thought the darker hair (lady/girl) server was super rude and or even drunk....

I have been here quite a few times over the years and the food is always fantastic! Highly recommended for a decent meal in Brentwood and everything is freshly made. The portions are very generous for the price you pay. Staff are friendly and helpful too.

We stopped in on a Sunday for a break on a 4hrs drive on the off chance we could be accommodated with two kids and a dog. Nice and close to the motorway without being a services stop. The staff were amazing. They were fully booked indoors (understandably) but we were seated no problem in the lovely garden. Lots of covered seating with heating and kids play area. The food was really good, we were particularly impressed with the standard of the kids food. All delivered quickly too. Staff were all super friendly and the roast looked amazing. In fact we’re thinking of planning a stop here in the future to try it! Overall we would highly recommend.

We visited The Bull in Brentwood on Sunday 21st April at 12pm. We were greeted by a guy who took nearly 10 minutes to find his clipboard and finish talking to other people once we finally got taken to our table outside. We asked if we could have the fire heaters on in and the TV on in the garden marquee.... after asking four times we finally got the fire heaters on at 1pm so an hour after we arrived, then asking for a 5th time we finally got the tv on at 1.15pm 🙌🏼 The food is great and served hot so no complaints there..... it's just the front of house staff let the pub down with their bad communication and slow service. After we were seated outside, I went to the bar to order some drinks and there was no one standing in the bar bit.... after another three customers walked over behind me plus I had two extra family members with me so six people there standing waiting for drinks, I decided to walk round to the restaurant area to see if I could find any staff.... this was at 12.10/12.15. I saw a lady early 30's dark hair standing there and a young man. I asked nicely "Hi, is someone able to come to the bar area to serve us please". The lady looked at me and in a rude tone replied "he'll be there in a minute". No apology, no smile... nothing. I said "okay thanks" and as I turned around to walk back round to the bar bit. The lady said quite loudly said to the young man "SERIOUSLY!!!!". I was quite shocked and taken back how anyone could speak like that to a customer when the pub just opened and there wasn't hardly any tables in yet so it wasn't as if there were busy and stressed. The pub used to the really good and great service but it's going down hill. It's a shame as the food is brillant. The staff need more training. I even heard another customer behind me complaining and shouting out loudly that he called the pub 20 times and why does no one answer the phone. I hope they sort it out soon and hopefully the next time will be better and we'll be treated with respect and if we're lucky.... a smile.

Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and expert cooking by the chef. You bring your own drink which makes a nice change. Very authentic, and generous portions as well. Highly recommend! The only reason it didn’t get a five was the the decor could do with a bit of investment. Food was great….just go for the food!

Very very poor customer service. I eat out a lot, so know how important a warm and welcoming attitude of the restaurant staff and good customer service is, in making your eating out experience more enjoyable. I ordered takeaway from this restaurant on New Years Day. While my partner prefers curries to be on the mild side, I prefer them with a bit more heat. As our order was large, I wanted the person taking our order to summarize at the end, so as to ensure everything was taken down correctly, which is quite standard practice frankly. However for some reason, this flustered the gentleman at the other end of the phone no end and his tone got very patronizing, which gave me no confidence that my order was taken down correctly. When I pointed this out to him, he hung up saying 'don't worry we will look after you'! Anyway when I arrived to pick up my order, I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt and struck a conciliatory tone, but he was in no mood for any friendly banter, instead saying 'when customers call us with specific requirements, we tell them to cook their own curry at home'! Wow! Is this really what you are telling your customers (asking for food to be less or more hot is hardly a complicated dietary requirement). I was expecting a lot from this place, especially with all the positive reviews, but was sadly left very disappointed in the end. The food was not stellar either. I definitely won't be returning here anytime soon.

First time here and what a find. The menu so varied and the food amazing! Absolutely delicious. Really good portions and not expensive. Service was friendly and professional. Could not fault it. We were a group of seven so we did create our own atmosphere which was great. We took our own wine which kept the bill down. Really worth a try.

Absolutely incredible food with plenty of options, including a very impressive vegetarian selection . Three starts though because, whilst all the staff are friendly enough, the overall service was one of the worst I’ve experienced. 50 minute wait from ordering to receiving our meal, & they forgot about our starters! From reading other reviews, this does seem to be the norm. So sadly, we won’t be returning!

Ordered a takeaway Sunday 10th Sept - the lamb chops were like 3 days old, chewy and smelt gone off. The onion bhajis weren't worked properly - the filling inside was raw and the lamb keema had a gone off sweaty smell to it. We called the restaurant straight away and spoke to Ali who didn't seem all that bothered - blamed it on the hot weather. We asked him for a full refund which he agreed to and said it would be processed the day after as the boss wasn't in that day. Still waiting for the refund 6 days on. Wouldn't go back and defo wouldn't recommend this place. The food is disgusting and the service to follow was so poor.

Would not recommend. Staff are rude and not welcoming. Always very cold in the restaurant. Over heard a man across from us complaining as he found 2 hairs and a piece of plastic which I seen him pick up and show the server. Very off putting and made me feel sick for the rest of the night. Would definitely not return here.

Just had possibly the worst takeaway of my life from here, might as well have binned £45. Mango Chutney was basically just oil, everything involving mince was grey and tasteless (samosas, keema, kebab). The chicken was tough and sauce not great on the balti and masala. An absolutely appealing standard of food.

I ordered a takeaway from this curry house as they had good reviews. Placed an order online and it was ready to collect after about 15 mins. Took it home to eat. This was the worst curry I have ever had. I ordered 2 different curries one was supposed to be mild to medium the other a medium. They both tasted of nothing and were floating with the ghee (yellow fat they were cooked in). Tasted absolutely disgusting, no one was in the restaurant maybe that was a sign of how bad it was. I will not be returning and will not be recommending this restaurant to anyone. Very disappointing. Stay away do not waste your money at that restaurant. All it was good for was the bin.

Figo Brentwood is a trendy upscale restaurant that puts a creative twist on traditional Italian dishes. The ambiance is stylish and the establishment offers a variety of menu options, including pasta, pizza, steaks, and fish. With its sister restaurant in Stratford's Westfield Shopping Centre and plans for expansion in Loughton, Figo brings both the classic charm and modern flair of Italian cuisine to Brentwood. The venue itself is beautiful and the staff provides excellent service with attentiveness and friendliness.

The food at this establishment was awful. Soaked in oil. Potatoes seemed old and not fresh. Lamb chops had no colour, definitely not appetizing and tasted horrible. The complimentary pizza was limp and covered in thick layers of cheese, and we love cheese. Wont be back. Cocktails were okay. The food did not match the prices. Such a waste.
