County Kildare

County Kildare is west of Ireland’s capital, Dublin. The central Curragh plain is horse-breeding territory. Here, the Irish National Stud farm is known for its Horse Museum and Japanese Gardens. Nearby, Curragh Racecourse holds regular events. Kildare town is home to St. Brigid’s Cathedral, with a 12th-century round tower that offers panoramic views. Heather and gorse top the Bog of Allen’s peatlands to the north.

Newbridge Silverware

Mentioned on
Home goods store
Cafe
Newbridge Silverware houses a stylish visitor centre comprising of a homeware and jewellery store, a restaurant, and a fashion museum. The store provides an immersive browsing experience with an extensive selection of gorgeous Christmas tree decorations making it the perfect place to find unique gifts for loved ones. The staff are always welcoming, and the cafe is highly recommended for those looking to grab a bite. Upstairs in the museum of style icons, visitors can marvel at iconic fashion pieces from past eras.
Their museum of style icons is very interesting. Clothing and ephemera of famous people on display. Their ‘pre loved’ antiques (NOT their products I might add) department is a bit of a joke with prices so high, items are 5 to 10 times the price compared what you’d buy the stuff for on auction websites!
Andre Devereux — Google review
The only people who want to be here is the older demographic going bananas over the prices of items here. I’m pretty sure the staff are pretty much done and ready to push everything online so they don’t need to engage the masses. One point less for the creepy Xmas themed area and the green handed mannequins looking like the grinch. In June. Maybe I just don’t get this one…
Aiden C Fernandez — Google review
The silverware is absolutely stunning and the restaurant was amazing. We were a group and we had cake and tea. The cakes were wonderful and the food fantastic. Great place to meet up with friends and 5.
Corne Elmarie Moll — Google review
Great sale plenty to choose from! Most stock in the shop was heavily reduced. I'd suggest getting there early as it can get quite busy as the day goes on and I'd imagine parking could be a difficulty. We didn't take a trip up to the museum but it's always worth a visit.
Niamh Fitzgerald — Google review
Was there to see Kurt Cobain's guitar from his bands song " smells like teen spirit". Had a look about as well. Had a bite to eat also. Nice place.
Donal Sarsfield — Google review
Wonderful place to visit. Embodies culture and timeless pieces. There is a shop selling gifts, jewelry, books and silverware. Also present is a restaurant to have some food on your visit. There is a beautiful free museum with fashion pieces from style icons. A lovely place to visit and learn plenty.
Lena Blaq — Google review
Beautiful place, good to browse, always nice to get a special little gift for people from and THE place for gorgeous Christmas tree decorations 😍 Staff are always friendly and although I havent tried it the cafe looks very popular and probably worth a visit if you fancy a bite to eat. I nipped upstairs to the museum of style icons (they have a lift for pushchairs and wheelchair users :) ). Was cool to see some iconic fashion pieces and a nice vibe. You can get round in 30 mins if you reading the info as well 😉
Michelle Feline — Google review
Went there for a visit to the icon museum (special interest in Princess/Lady D), love the displays! Wanted to try the soup at the restaurant but we went a bit late so they were gone, so will need to come on another day but absolutely fine as we plan to go back anyway! Their silverware are gorgeous by the way!!

Had a breakfast here nice but expensive. Staff were excellent friendly and helpful. Place it's self well worth a visit
Tom Bourke Travel and Adventure — Google review
Had lunch here it was gorgeous, such lovely details like an ice bucket with the water taps. Cant recommend it enough. Shop is very spacious with a great range available. Having the museum upstairs was a great activity and it was free! Amazing place to call too
louise Kingston — Google review
A lovely afternoon tea, but I didn't have an option to make any changes. My booking was taken over the phone and I wasn't asked did I want to make any changes. I was stuck with what we got ok the day. So, if you go please tell them what you do and don't eat. Lovely food, but I found the portions small. We were actually hungry after. A lovely room and a nice idea to do, but don't go if you are already hungry!!! Also, take out the scribbled bit on the note in the table and just rewrite it. Keep the standard up.
AM W — Google review
Was there to get some jewelry. Managed to get a nice bracelet and a necklace. They have already added the Christmas 🎄 section to the store. Couldn't go for the factory tour as it's on during the weekdays.
Lakshman Pusarapu — Google review

What a wonderful place to visit. Great parking, very friendly staff, excellent food and of course excellent gifts and products available to purchase. The museum upstairs is well worth a visit too. Make sure and leave time as there is so much to see and do you shouldn't have to rush. Highly Recommend

Nature & Wildlife Areas
Pollardstown Fen is a picturesque natural habitat that offers an unspoiled sanctuary for various bird species and wildlife. It features a fantastic boardwalk, ideal for individuals with mobility issues and small children. This walk measures around 1 km, providing ample opportunities to stretch one's legs among the serene surroundings. The area has ample parking space and serves as a popular spot for birdwatchers due to its abundance of feathered creatures.
Lovely short walk on a boardwalk. Be cautious after a decent rain, it can get very muddy on the end of the loop. Stopped here after arriving in Dublin by plane. Was a great way to stretch out, and take in the quietness of nature. Mid-November had some amazing smelling flowers there too.
Jennifer L — Google review
Our dog, golden retriever loves it. I can walk slowly while she jumps about on long lead. Small walk but can be longer if you go round again. Nice area for picnic. Dog always comes home dirty/wet. Not ideal for me but she has a great time and never wants to leave.(see photo of her lying down/refusing to come near the car 😂🥰)
Ciara Grogan — Google review
Around 15 mins to take a loop walking here. Very quiet and calming, great for those who's looking for tranquility.
Putri Pramesti — Google review
Nice small walk, bord walk, parking space also
Fidelma Ryan — Google review
Lovely quiet spot. Relaxing atmosphere. The walk itself is short but we'll maintained.
Stu Mollusc — Google review
Lovely spot for walks and taking the dogs, just make sure they're on a leash or they could jump off the boardwalk and it's a conservation area. Parking lot is spacious and there are a good number of bays. The walk is quite short but the scenery is beautiful.
Jared Momple — Google review
Usually a good spot for a walk but recently they have began work. Lots of the trees and bushes have been cut and left there. Not much explaination given but apparently they will introduce Highland cows to the area to graze. No timeline as to when the work will finish or what they are actually doing. On a normal day worth a visit if your nearby but not worth a long journey.
Paul King — Google review
Very beautiful and peaceful place. Short walk of about 1.2km loop. The boardwalk probably needs some work to replace some rotten boards.
Marcus Connolly — Google review
Free entry. Plenty of parking. Map pin was a little off. We visited early August, after lunch. Me and my 3 kids under 5yrs. We loved it. Anyone we met on the trail was friendly. Met one dog on leash and one off leash. The trail is perfect for a buggy. I would say it's an easy walk. One lady was walking for exercise and lapped is 4 times 😅 life is a little slower with 3babies 😅
Sarah Eva Manson — Google review
Nice short walk around the wooden walkway over the marshland. Wouldn't go if your travelling from far away, you would need to plan a full day with this walk in mind if doing so.
Matthew Alexander Sayers — Google review
Beautiful place, the boardwalk is fantastic. A birdwatchers paradise. The walk isn't that long, approx 1km but a nice place to just stretch the legs
Derek Campion — Google review
Beautiful place to visit. A lovely unspoiled sanctuary for birds and wildlife. A boardwalk there that is great for small kids and people with mobility issues and plenty of parking.
Tracey Brennan — Google review
Free parking for about 10 cars with CCTV. Never crowded and very relaxing to walk here. Dog poop to be seen on the boardwalk though.. Bathrooms would be a welcome addition.

Good place for a shorter walk. Well kept and lovely nature sounds.Best visit in the summer, it can be a bit bleak when nature is not in bloom.

Went to see a musical First Date. Hilarious show and would recommend it. Venue very nice but not alot of leg room. Glad I have short legs. Must have been hard on audience members over 5ft. Nice place, staff friendly, parking nearby, so all good

Went to see Bruce Springsteen tribute last night. It was fantastic. Band were amazing. Staff at Riverbank were so helpful. Spotless clean bathrooms. Thank you
Karen Conway — Google review
We seen a show at Riverbank Arts centre. We really enjoyed the show but the seats were too close to the person in front of me. This meant I had to sit in an uncomfortable position so I could sit through the show.
Antonia McDonnell — Google review
A great Audience on Saturday night at the Riverbank where Big Band Route 66 played. A fantastic night.
Paul Whelan — Google review
Lovely cosy venue, great staff, only took off a star as some might find the seats a bit small.

nice intimate venue, staff wonderful, great cakes and coffee, seats a little cramped, and could do with a centre aisle, show was first class.

Super venue that we are lucky to have in our town attracting great names in comedy and music which are my two favourite areas of entertainment so I visit regularly. Also a brilliant cinema offering of movies that don't come on general release on a Monday night. There's galleries, talks , shows and plays and lots on offer for children too. It's great having the riverbank on our doorstep.

Riverbank is a lovely arts centre Theatre is small enough but makes it nice and personal, great for interactive viewings. I've been to some children's plays and some comedy adults plays too. My experience here has been fantastic and I look forward to my next visit to see The Specks. Roll on February

I visited the cafe on a busy bankholiday Monday, during festival weekend. There was a great atmosphere from the street. I spent a very pleasant hour enjoying freshly cooked food from the outdoor bbq. It was delicious, service was very good, and my server was very pleasant, cheerful and helpful, despite being very busy. A very good experience. Keep up the good work 👏

Newbridge Greyhound Stadium was a pleasant surprise, with great views of the track from window seats. The food exceeded expectations, featuring dishes such as duck with orange sauce and carbonara that were fantastic. Ribeye steak and apple crumble were also highlights. The restaurant staff provided good service and facilities, making for an enjoyable evening that included tote betting at the table. While some diners didn't enjoy their meals as much, complimentary desserts were offered to make up for it.
Had a great night out at the dogs recently. Myself and my son had a meal and some fun last Friday night at Newbridge Greyhound Racing Stadium. Highly recommend it.

Restaurant was a great surprise, window seat with a great view of the track. I was expecting chicken in a basket or a burger, but the food was fantastic, I had duck leg with an orange sauce, followed by a wonderful carbonara. My wife had a lovely ribeye steak followed by apple crumble. All washed down with a few wines and a few Heineken all for €90, bargain, highly recommended along with tote betting at the table made it a very entertaining evening.

The dining experience at Jaipore Indian Restaurant Limited is truly exceptional. The dishes, such as daal tadka, chicken kadhai, lamb gosht, and garlic naan, are all expertly prepared and the flavors complement each other perfectly. The chef personally oversees the entire operation and ensures that every guest is warmly greeted and well taken care of. The staff is attentive and friendly, providing excellent service throughout the meal.
Love this place. Food was awesome, flavourful and authentic. Ambiance was great. Staffs are very polite. I would say awesome restaurant for Indian food.
Reshmi Priya S — Google review
Such delicious Indian food and lovely service. James and his team go beyond to accommodate all the family. My favourite is the prawn Karachi and saag aloo. Great vegetarian dishes too.
Tamso Doyle — Google review
Had the most amazing meal here this evening! Food was incredible and the staff are brilliant. Adi goes above and beyond to make sure you have a great experience. Half our family is vegetarian or vegan and the options are fantastic, chefs are happy to make the veggie dishes vegan and there’s some really lovely organic wine on offer too. Will definitely be back to sit down now that restrictions are over!

What a great experience! I haven’t felt home in Ireland in a while and it all changed from my visit to Jaipore ! The food was delicious. The staff was amazing. The chef personally took care of not only us but everyone around. We placed our order and within 10 mins everything was out fresh from the kitchen. My friend couldn’t stop eating. We had an amazing time. The lamb saag made me miss home way too much. Kadhai chicken was juicy and full of flavour. Must go to this restaurant if you are in Kildare ! Will defoo go back for the service and hospitality!! Big thanks to the staff and the chef 🙏🏽😁

What a gem of a find. From the staff to the owner and chef James, these guys are passionate about their food, from how it’s made to how it’s served, I have been several times now, and lots of different dishes in, I can honestly say all where perfect with great use of spices and flavours. If you’re not used to eating Indian food, just ask the staff or chef James give him your preferences and he will give you advice on several dishes. Again absolutely top of the pack as Indian restaurants go. You will not be disappointed.
GARY RHODES — Google review
Really disappointed, got takeaway from Jaipore Newbridge on 5/12/31. Photos show what is suppose to be an onion bhaji. It's was disgusting onion ring, not fresh. Not chopped, no favour or spices. Curry Sauce had a lot of oil in it not fresh. Mint sauce is suppose to be fresh yoghurt with fresh mint in it. How is this place getting good reviews 🤷🏻‍♂️ Charged extra for poppadoms and sauces that have always been included, not good. Don't mind paying the price for nice food. This was awful, never again. 👎👎👎👎
Barry Brennan — Google review
I came here for dinner with family. I ordered chicken tikka, samosa, and chicken nuggets for the kids. We also tried chicken tandoori. It’s another appetizer, but no one can beat their flavors and tenderness in Ireland. The place was busy, but I was served timely and asked for feedback, if any. But all these things you will forget once you get your hands on their garlic naan and bhindi masala. Biryani was aromatic, flavorful, and tasty, not dry. And coconut ice cream was the best I've ever had. Don't forget to try garlic potatoes. Excellent stuff!
rahul singh — Google review
Very very authentic indian curries. One of the best I have tried in Ireland. The service is so good. The chef personally comes and talk to you about food and will explain anything if you want to know. Also they prepare everydish as per the request. So you can ask them to make anything spicy or keep it mild without compromising the flavour. I will highly recommend this place. Also one of the loveliest staff.
Kshitij Bhatnagar — Google review
Me and my wife went for a dinner 🍽️ and we both enjoyed the food and its quality. Everything taste good and made fresh. Even their service and atmosphere is so good. Initially I thought the appearance of shop on outside is old but it basically showcase their experience in such a good food and service.

It’s been 2 days since we visited Jaipore, and I still craving for its biryani! We just happened to visit this restaurant and I totally fell in love with it! Probably the best in Ireland so far! The chef customised the menu exactly to how we wanted it. And guess what, he also played our regional song at the background! The ambience, food, every possible thing here is a 10/10. We will definitely visit back again and I can’t wait to visit back sooner! Thank you Jaipore for the lovely hospitality and amazing food!
Chandana Prasad — Google review
I ate here yesterday with my family for my birthday and it was incredible. Put Jaipore on the top of your list if you're a fan of Indian food. Even the kids who wouldn't be the most adventurous eaters were kicking their plates saying it was the nicest meal they'd ever had. The manager Adi ( forgive the spelling) is an absolute gentleman and makes every guest feel welcome and special. The chef is basically a wizard whose use of spices is superb. He can tailor any dish to your liking, making mild dishes spicy at a whim but keeping all the flavour. The service staff are attentive and so polite. Eating here makes you happy, simple as. My favourite restaurant by far.
Stuart Freeman — Google review
Absolutely gorgeous food. Chicken Balti was divine, chicken was so tender and the curry was so flavourful, you could really taste the fresh ginger. Naan bread was also delicious. The chef was so attentive and checked if everything was OK after each course. Very rare to see in most restaurants. Will be back very soon!
Michelle Campbell — Google review
Dined at Jaipore tonight with my sister's and friends and it was just fantastic, from the food to the service. It was quite a while since we visited Jaipore and the staff remembered us and made us feel like old friends and so welcome. Will not leave it so long until out next visit. All the staff are soooo friendly and the chefs food is amazing - thank you for making a birthday celebration special. Would highly recommend Jaipore.

My experience at Jaipore in Newbridge was amazing! Not only are the wait staff exceptional, friendly, and eager to help, but the food was sensational! We had a tasting platter of curries recommended by the phenomenal chef James, and as we sampled, each one was tastier than the last! Will absolutely be back!!!

Listen!! If you’re looking for a cheeky Indian takeaway, Jaipore is the place to go. The service is exceptional (satisfactory customer service and speedy delivery of food), the ambiance in the restaurant is very inviting and would be ideal for a cute intimate date, and the food is simply out of this world. Now let me tell you more about the delicious food… I got it for takeout and it didn’t take too long, it also kept good and somehow tasted even better the next day when I reheated it. I’ve never had naan bread so delicious in my entire life, the chicken was so tender and flavourful, and the portion was enormous. I also got complimentary samosas, which were equally as delicious. Great value for money. 10/10 would defo recommend. 🙌🏽

Good atmosphere, food not great for the price you pay. Just a regular burger nothing special about it, fries okay, no dips or anything “fancy” for the nearly €20 pay, bit of a rip off, menu doesn’t have much choice. Staff pleasant though.

Food was fabulous. Great options of non alcoholic drinks too. Everything we ordered was delicious. Staff were lovely, friendly and super helpful. Service was relaxed to the point at times of being almost slow. Place was almost empty when we arrived 3pmish so can't really comment on atmosphere Baby changing facilities need updating/repairing, catch on strap is broken so cannot secure baby in changing table.

Always top class food. Today I had a smokehouse burger and it was delicious. Great presentation and portion size was excellent. Also ordered the kids chicken burger for my nearly 2 year old. No junk meat this was a proper chicken breast cooked up perfectly with lots of flavour despite it being served plain ( as requested). There's always a good atmosphere in here and a nice eclectic mix of music playing in the background. Tables are always clean and the high chair for the kiddo was cleaned before being set up for us. Staff are friendly and always on the ball to serve you quickly. 10/10 overall

One of the busiest and largest places in Kildare. A good place for lunch, kids friendly. At night it's more of a bar/club so not very kids friendly. Burgers are really good there, maybe with more sauces they get better. Desserts and drinks are also good. Service was a bit slow, claiming that bar is busy, but they even missed some items we ordered, hence the 4 stars.

Judge Roy beans is located on main street Newbridge close go all amenities, from the outside you can see a very well designed building, with outdoor seating and canopy. As you walk in you are greeted by a member of staff and asked how many seats you would like, this has a really nice layout and design, this location is a really special place to hang out with friends, it had that nice vibey music playing and okay customer service, kinda feel a bit rushed. Upon ordering, I ordered a chicken fillet burger with salad and chips, it was all well presented, but it just wasn't up to standards for the location and the price it cost me €16 or thereabouts not including a pint of Heineken which was €5.50. The chicken was slightly over cooked, the dried onions on the top of the burger were cold while everything else was hot, the salad was a few leaves with coleslaw on the side of the plate no effort at all gone into this, and the chips were nicely done. Overall my experience was rushed at this location, the pint was okay and the food filled a hole. The design and layout was amazing, and the customer service was okay. This is why I give a 3 star rating, few areas need improvement for the top rating.

Well, first of all let me explain my amazing visit to this truly amazing place Judge Roy Beans. I am trying to cut down on my meat intake and i tried the this exact dish, the lady who served me was truly amazing and she wrote it down for me, thank you. Chilli 🌶 Bean Nachos, Vegan Cheese 🧀 House Salsa, Guacamole & Lemon Mayo as starter, this starter when it came out was like a main course, i was shocked but amazed by its taste, quality, presentation. Main course was this dish. Plant it Buffalo Burger no meat, hence the name Plant it, 😉 you following me, good let's keep typing,🔥 hot sauce 🔥 vegan mayo, lettuce, tomato & fries. I truly was taken back by the food, the service was 7 star 🌟, atmosphere was calm but very enjoyable, this place I'll highly recommend to everyone, families, friends all. Well done guys top 👩‍🍳 👨‍🍳 chefs top service top food I'll be back.

Haven't been in years and it still doesn't fail to tantalise the taste buds. I wanted EVERYTHING on the menu. Opted for the Philly steak sandwich. Cooked M/R to perfection all sorts of juicy and succulent. The fries were perfect portion. Ordered slaw as an extra, damn good choice all round. My mate had the chicken burger and she was satisfied too. Great to see Vivien is still manning the helm and nice to find Blaine working there too. I'll be back soon.

I moved to Kildare Town a couple of months ago and I have dined here quite a few times. I had wonderful evening with my 6 siblings from Dublin recently and they were impressed. Food is wonderful, service is both efficient and friendly without being intrusive. Have brought my grandchildren here and they were well catered for. I love the various dining areas. Each has a different atmosphere. (Love the Library). Keep up the good work.

We had dinner here for a birthday. Staff was very kind and took very good care of us. Food was good, we all enjoyed our meal but we all thought that it wasn't amazing either for the price charged. We would come back but its not on number one choice.

Had an impromptu family birthday dinner here, and will definitely be back. The Silken Thomas is a lovely venue, they rent rooms which I'm told come highly recommended or you can visit the restaurant. We had a party of ten, with two type 1 diabetics and one with special dietary needs. The staff were very accommodating, and the menu was varied with plenty of choice. Everyone enjoyed the food - my chilli and lime prawns were stellar and the duck was excellent. A very enjoyable experience and one we intend to revisit. We travelled from Dublin, others from around Kildare, a good location to meet up. Recommend booking in advance

It's a good atmosphere, great space and service. But tried Silken Thomas twice, At first was unbelievably warm there and we couldn't stay longer than enough for a pint. Yesterday we decided to try lunch, and I would say it's a long time since I felt that sick after a meal, and still. I couldn't recommend their restaurant.

Stayed here for the first time, from the first moment we entered the service was excellent. A lady on reception called Beata went above and beyond taking our bags until our room was ready and holding on to them when we checked out to do more shopping. She is an assist to the business. It is approx about 10 min walk from train station and ten min max to Kildare village. Delicious food and great atmosphere. highly recommend and will be back

This was our second time staying at the Silken Thomas and again we had a wonderful time. The staff are brilliant and v professional. The food is great also with a varied menu. We had breakfast lunch and dinner twice and all were v good. Our room was spacious and clean and it’s a good location with lots of local amenities. Train station 8 mins walk away if you want a trip into Dublin City. The reason I did not give 5 stars is because you can’t get breakfast there before 9am, there was a lot of noise on the first night from the room above us and the bath towels are small. We will definitely be back though having said that as everything else is superb.

I live In Kildare Town many years now and have eaten in the Silken Thomas many times. Iwent out with my wife for dinner after Christmas shopping. I have to say I have never been so disappointed with the portion size and value for money. As Its nearly Christmas I ordered Turkey & Ham. When the food was served, I noticed the servicing was very small, like a child's portion. One roast potato, a few carrots, two pieces of cauliflower surrounding the smallest portion of turkey hiding the ham on a single sized bed of mash. I overlooked this as I was hungry and tucked into the food, it was delicious however, when my wife commented where is the ham. I lifted what was left of Turkey to unveil the two smallest bite sized pieces of ham. I burst out laughing thinking that I'd seen more ham on half a ham sandwich. I finished my meal however I was so unsatisfied, hungry, and left feeling ripped off that I had to bring this to the attention of management. Still amused at their portion sizes I asked where they are running out of food in the kitchen. The manager was nice about it and only charge me for one meal and our drinks. This is the first time I've ever complained, and I feel the management of the Silken Thomas need to review their value for money for their customers. This establishment's not fine dining however the size of the portions and the price's are heading there.

Everything you could think of was perfect. Food amazing, service amazing, cocktails amazing and rooms would rival any 4 star hotel. The best part of our stay was the owner. What a nice person, extremely welcoming and her hospitality was second to none!

Right in heart of Kildare town. Accommodation was gorgeous, had a wonderful stay here. Some of the rooms were bigger than advertised would recommend communicating with the staff and confirm the size of room you’re getting. The staffs were lovely and helpful during our stay. Breakfast was pleasant too. Price was reasonable and the hotel is up to standards and quality, would recommend if you’re looking for somewhere to stay in Kildare.

Silken Thomas was spotless, well looked after. Comfortable bedding, hot water, Tea and coffee making facility in the bedroom. A fan and a heater. All very clean and comfortable. Free parking when you are a guest. Great food. I would fully recommend this accommodation.

Our stay on Silken Thomas was awesome! The room was cozy and clean! The bed and pillow were comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. They provided a fan for the room because it was really hot that day and it made a huge difference. We also had dinner at the restaurant and the food was delicious! I would definitely recommend this place for staying and/or having a meal.

My mother and I stayed here last weekend for a little get away and shopping trip. From the moment we checked in I could not believe how welcoming and accommodating the staff were. We got there a little early before check in so we sat down for a bit to eat. My mam has a walking aid so before seating us the staff checked if she was ok to go up a few steps to a table and also showed her where the accessible toilet is on the ground floor. The food was absolutely amazing for lunch and right after Barbara brought us to our room. The rooms are out the back so when we were walking over she said I might actually show you another room first, it may be better for you and your mam. The room was separate to the main entrance to the accommodation. She thought this would be better for my mam as she is a smoker and the smoking area was right outside and there was a parking spot right Infront of the door. My mam was absolutely delighted with this. I cannot fault the staff one bit. They were amazing, friendly and just make the whole experience amazing. We ate in the restaurant each night we were there and breakfast once and all the food was incredible and great value for money. I've never stayed somewhere that left such a lasting impression. We have already told everyone we know about our experience and we will definitely be booking to come back. Thank you so much for an incredible stay!

I booked this accommodation after a lot of research and consideration-- it hasn't disappointed. The upgraded rooms in Virginia Lodge are gorgeous and very comfortable. The staff's hospitality has been top-notch; they accommodated me with an early check-in after I arrived rather early and have all been so kind, as well as personal. The restaurant/bar has such amazing food. Every meal I've had has been great, with prompt service. Basically, this seems like the best place to stay in Kildare. I don't feel that I could have chosen a better place and I recommend it to anyone considering it. Location also can't be beat, especially with taking public transit. Thanks to everyone for a wonderful, seamless stay and accommodating my needs. It's been perfect.

A lovely place to stop off to have a quick bite to eat. Lovely Meal, Pleasant staff, very efficient and Friendly. Car park at no cost if you have something to eat. I was very Happy with my meal and the Surroundings with plenty of room between each Table.

Only stayed here for one night after being delayed in Kildare, but the staff were very accommodating even though we booked last minute. After requesting a room as accessible as possible, we were giving an unexpectedly large room with more than enough space for us to move around comfortably. We were all surprised by how nice and accessible the room was on such short notice. The car park could be signposted a bit better but generally everything else is perfect.

We had such a wonderful stay at the Silken Thomas. Location - There is a bus stop just outside and train station 10 minutes walk away so it's very easy to get into Dublin for the day (the buses are every hour however and it's a good 1.5hr journey). Staff - Everyone who works there is so lovely and welcoming, they will give you recommendations and made us feel like we were home. Room - The rooms feel like private apartments, you have your own door and the spaces are very big and perfect for what we needed. Would've been nice to have a little fridge and some parts in the room are a bit weathered but you're staying in the castle gatehouse and the room is decorated to a lovely modern standard. Atmosphere - We had a breakfast and dinner in the restaurant which was fantastic, they had live music every night in the evening and the place is always busy so was perfect.

Stayed in the new annex, rooms are fabulous. Have stayed here many times and never disappointed. It books out early so book well in advance. Food is excellent and staff are always very friendly and professional.

Silken Thomas eatery is a perfect fit for my dining needs because I want something filling, distinctly Irish and very well prepared. The roast beef was a grand portion, steaming and tender over mash with an exquisite French-styled gravy reduction, still with all Irish ingredients. The service was friendly and deadly prompt. Highest recommendation.

Went here for a Christmas dinner with my sister. We got a table early, which was lovely. We were treated like royalty. Food was first class. We both fancied the filet steak and it was cooked to perfection. Highly recommend.

Customer service not good. We came in for dinner in the evening and it was completely booked, which is fine since we didn’t book a table. However, the man who greeted us was very rude to us, and it’s not the first time we had this experience in Silken Thomas with other staff members.

I simply could find no fault with this place. From booking to departure, it was A1, in every respect. The place had free, off street parking. It's located in the centre of town. There was a very varied menu, lovely food, professional, mannerly, well trained staff. The place was very busy, but that didn't impinge o the standard of service. It is clean & well maintained. I went into the lounge bar after eating, as there was live music there, by local duo 'Cat the Cage'. This WAS music, including some lovely blues!

Restaurant
Bistro 53 in Maynooth offers a wide variety of dishes, including Al Forno and Platos principales. Their menu consists of popular options such as Antipasti - Entrantes and SIDES. With a total of 90 dishes and beverages available, customers have plenty to choose from. Some recommended dishes are the fried lamb liver for starter and pork belly for main. The cuisine is mainly Italian, with standout items like the incredible risotto and delicious lobster pasta.
It was my first time in this restaurant. I really like food and service. I ordered a Melanzane starter, the main course was steak and for a dessert, I had tiramisu. Everything exceeded my expectations. I left my car in the nearby shopping centre for free.

Nice place, a little on the more expensive side but tasty enough food. They also do a set menu for €26. Set in a central location on main street in Maynooth with a host of pubs nearby.

The restaurant is Ok, it's nothing special. Food was good, but i would say it was not the best steak I had. At least for me the price does not fit to the performance. It was good but nothing special. The menu is small and next to wine the selection of drinks Is to less.

If you are looking for great food in a nice atmosphere then Bistro 53 is the place to go in Maynooth. Every time I visit the food is perfect. The range of choices allows me to have something different so the experience never gets stale. I had a fillet steak last night and it was extremely tasty and cooked to perfection. The vegetables are always cooked just right and the baby beetroot is gorgeous. The staff are always friendly and helpful. It just never disappoints

The food was great! We ordered many dishes because there was 10 of us but my goat Sheree salad was over sauced so that is why it’s a 4 instead of a 5 star. Otherwise everything was great!!

Excellent customer service. Very fast and kind. Nice meals with usual prices. The only bad is the Coke in a small glass full of ice on two minutes with no gas. - Second experience wasn't so good. Soup extremely spicy, imposible to eat. Meal nothing special. Service not so good like the first time

Top notch restaurant and we are just overly impressed with the food, they have a great selection on the menu, one of my all time recommendations being the stake. We come here quite often and we can truly say that everything is ten out of ten. Excellent customer service, great atmosphere, and by far the best food in the area. We highly recommend trying out this place to everyone. Keep up the good work bistro team and we’ll definitely be back soon.

We ate at this restaurant as our final dinner in Ireland, and what a delicious meal it was. My wife had the prawns with Mendoncini pasta in a pesto sauce and I had grilled sea bass with mashed potatoes, spiced tomatoes, zucchini, and red pepper. For dessert, we split a homemade ice cream with almonds, which was a fantastic end to the meal. Everything was outstanding and we would highly recommend Bistro 53 for your next meal.

The Mediterranean in Maynooth. I’ve just eaten in this superb restaurant. I walked in out of a cold lashing sleet storm, and was immediately transported to a high class Mediterranean Restaurant. Sublime food, great service, and a perfect ambiance. I’ll let my pictures speak for themselves.

In summary, while the restaurant offered some delectable dishes like the flavorful potato skins and well-seasoned pork belly, we encountered disappointments such as undercooked burger patties with a pink center and inconsistently cooked fries, some of which tasted underdone. Although the potato gratin was passable, the inconsistent texture of the pork belly's skin, ranging from overly hard to overly soft, left room for improvement. Despite these setbacks, the overall dining experience was a mix of highs and lows.
