Nature & Parks
Park
Gorges State Park is a stunning natural wonder with rainforest rising up to 2,000 ft., cascading waterfalls, trout streams and rugged trails. It boasts a large visitor center and engaging history. The hike to Rainbow Falls offers breathtaking views of the river but can be challenging due to some eroded steps. Despite this, it's worth the effort as the scenery is epic. The park itself is beautiful with wide trails that have significant elevation changes yet are relatively easy to traverse.
Park is beautiful. The trails have a lot of elevation change but they are wide and relatively easy to traverse. Overall a great hikes. Besides the connection to foot hills trail, there are very few hikes in the park. Almost everything within the park can be done in a long day.

The brand new RV campsite is as phenomenal as the park. Very easy access and luxuriously big RV sites with concrete pad, rock area with fire pit and picnic table. The bathrooms are shockingly nice, when you walk in it feels like you’re walking into a hotel bathroom, so well done. They can’t post is very friendly and there’s even firewood you can buy on site which is a lifesaver if you have kids and they start asking for a fire and you don’t have any firewood! From the RV site rainbow falls is but a short walk. I highly recommend this park and definitely this campground.

Satisfying visitor center and facilities. We hiked the Rainbow Falls trail. The waterfall is awesome and worth the hike. The kiosk is a bit misleading. I think it is more than a mile and a half. The trail is difficult when you get past the sign that says no leaving the state park. Pack smart and please pick up after your dogs! Most of the trail smelled like poop. I think I’ll come back on a cooler and less crowded day.

The only way this park possibly get any better is if it had a small dog park. This park otherwise is darn near perfect! The camp host Dale is very nice and extremely helpful. The office workers are awesome and it is a beautiful building with a great deal learning displays and actually have an amphitheater big enough for about 60 to seventy people to sit and watch the educational video about their parks in North Carolina. I highly recommend this park to everyone. It also has many hiking trails to some great waterfalls if your able.

So beautiful! The hike was pretty long and tough but to be fair we were on a time limit with the school. Getting to Rainbow Falls 🌈 was amazing and you will be happy you went. ❤️ I also was able to capture some once in a lifetime exquisite shots with my Canon R6!

What a beautiful, beautiful park! We visited to make the hike to Rainbow Falls on a gorgeous autumn day. It was a tough, 4 mile hike for this 70 year old but we made it! The falls are beautiful and well worth the effort. The park has other falls, picnic areas, camping and a beautiful visitor's center. Make the trip!

We camped at Gorges State Park for the first time this April. The campground is brand new so everything is in tip top shape. There are a variety of site types that include tent only, RV or camper, and even a couple little cabins that you can rent. There is a wood shed where you can purchase pre bundled firewood on the honor system. While this is very convenient and helpful, I do suggest bringing your own since the bundles are small and of course over priced. Also you are not allowed to take or use any sticks or limbs from the property even if it is on the ground dead and not attached to anything living. This is my biggest reason for the 4 star rating. I have never stayed anywhere that has not allowed campers to harvest the already dead and fallen sticks and branches that litter the ground and I have stayed at a lot of different types of campgrounds in different areas. I'm not talking about anything that needs to be pulled on or axed either as I would definitely not expect that to be allowed. Park Rangers did roll through regularly during all hours. Even though it was a weekend and pretty much every site was occupied it was very calm and quiet. The sites are a decent size and you don't feel like you are on top of your neighbors. The bathhouse is very nice and spacious which isn't surprising since it is brand new. Showers looked decent as well. Depending on where you're staying will depend on how far your walk to the bathroom will be so it can either be very convenient or quite a hike. The only other thing I can say I didn't love was how long the road is to the campground once you get into the park however this is also a plus because it puts you way back in the woods which makes for beautiful views and a peaceful, quiet atmosphere! You also drive past/over a pretty waterfall so it is a great way to start your stay. Overall I definitely recommend checking out Gorges State Park and it's campground. There are also numerous hiking trails of varying degrees of difficulty and length and plenty of amazing views and waterfalls.

Great park with nice trails with waterfalls, really great camping sites to reserve and even cabins you can rent. Perfect place to get away and enjoy nature and beautiful scenery.

My husband and I loved this place 🥰, very nice hike. The view was spectacular. Rainbow Falls is the best waterfall I’ve seen in a long time. The bathrooms at the visitor center were clean. just be careful and make sure you follow the signage instructions concerning slippery rocks and messing around near the falls.
Joselyn Supe — Google review
Amazing park engaging history. Hike to rainbow falls was amazing once you get river side. A little on the wet side, not a hike for people who don't hike as the steps are a little eroded so there are some more difficult parts. It is worth the hike though, epic doesn't do it justice.
Brian Martin — Google review
This park and rainbow falls had been hyped up to me from many people I've met. I looked at the Alltrails options and some photos and I just didn't really get it (there are so many waterfalls and hiking options nearby). Well now I get it. The beautiful visitor center has spectacular views and Rainbow Falls is unlike any other we've seen. And it's all free! North Carolina state parks are fantastic.
Meghan Jensen (Patterson) — Google review
The campgrounds are rather new, beautiful and well maintained. The visitors center is great with a lot in the gift shop. The waterfalls are worth the hike with proper footwear. Did see two timber rattlers in the park not on the trails.
Melissa Cotch — Google review
Gorges State Park is a family friendly Park with extremely clean restrooms, picnic areas, short hikes, or even long moderate challenging hikes. Beautiful waterfalls and scenery everywhere. I will be back for a longer hike.
LJ — Google review
My husband and I and out 4 kids stayed in one of the cabins. The cabins have a back room with 2 sets of bunk beds (sleeps 4) and the front room has a queen size bed. They have electricity and space to put your stuff and food inside. The bathhouse is right across the street from the cabins and is super super nice! Probably the best I have ever seen! There was firewood available at the campground for $8 a bundle and you can pay via PayPal which was nice. We hiked rainbow falls with our kids (ages 8,6,4, 2.5) and it was totally worth it, roaring waterfall. We are in decent shape so the hike was not what I would consider strenuous but it is more uphill coming back. The nature center is super nice with a great view, there isn't a kid playground but the roads in the campground were all well paved so the kids could ride and scooter around those, we will be back!
Katherine Barnard — Google review
There's a reason why this hike consistently gets rated as one of the best in NC--with three waterfalls to checkout on this moderate out and back hike, it is a popular destination for families and hikers with pets. There is ample parking, clean restrooms, and plenty of nice picnic areas.
Valerie Mena — Google review
We went again the other day and walked the easy trail below the park museum and info center. It has viewing platforms that I didn't know were there before. And in the fall just wow they are stunning. This is perfect trail for toddlers, littles learning to walk, strollers, etc. It's a pretty decent trail. My son was adequately worn out after and had fun exploring and reading the signs along the way. Very informative infographics too
Brittain Schiele — Google review
Great park w/ lots of hiking trails and waterfalls to hike to. Campground is brand new w/ generous concrete pad RV sites, full hookups, picnic tables and fire pits. Only slight negative was the price of firewood bundles. At $9 each seemed a bit pricey.
Sam Ciraulo — Google review
We went on the trail to see rainbow falls. It was a very beautiful trail. There are some difficult spots towards the end that I could see an older person struggling with but overall a wonderful hike. The waterfalls were also beautiful.
David Bloomer — Google review
The most perfect park to stay at. Pads are cemented with water, sewage and electricity. Off to the side is a gravel area with fire pit and picnic table. Restrooms have the most amazing showers. There are cabins for rent and an area for tents. Area is so clean and trash is picked up day a couple of times.

Lower Whitewater Falls

Mentioned on
Waterfall
Lower Whitewater Falls, located along the Whitewater River, boasts a striking cascade that is breathtakingly beautiful. The hike to reach the falls may be challenging due to several inclines but it is manageable. There are two viewing platforms that allow visitors to fully appreciate the falls from both upper and lower perspectives. The surrounding area offers more exploration opportunities beyond just admiring the waterfall itself. Well-maintained property and a clear trail make this destination an enjoyable experience for all who visit.
Beautiful! The last half mile to the overlook is a pretty good descent so that part on the way back isn’t easy. It’s worth the effort though!
Tra Hale — Google review
Came here on a Sunday morning around 8AM, weather was a bit drizzly and it was gray, no cars in the parking lot. Walk to the falls was short, walked down the stairs to the overlook, wet due to rain but hand rails all around. Waterfall was really big, as expected since it's the tallest waterfall east of the Rockies. Lots of water too because it rained the last few days. Would recommend taking a quick look!
Andrea Wu — Google review
Beautiful but can be treacherous from Bad Creek side in the rain , falling leaves, and fog. Otherwise well worth it.
Marcus A. — Google review
We hiked for over an hour and half and couldn’t get to it. At for the sign said 1.5 miles then half way there, another sign said 1.7 miles
Mido Said — Google review
Just a very beautiful drive to a place with one of the biggest falls around. Very well taken care of property with a nice path to the falls. What's really nice is you can go to the upper or the lower part of the falls.
Janice Taylor — Google review
How do you rate a waterfall? This one is surely beautiful, though a little difficult to find. The hike is challenging, not impossible. Mostly the long inclines are what wear you out. Once you get to the end, the dogs are a bit far away, so pictures are tough. There does seem to be a lot more to explore in the area than just the party to the falls, though. Finding other views makes it worth exploring. Suggestion - look at the map and choose your adventure.
Kevin Harvey — Google review
Large, beautiful falls. Just difficult to get view of or access to. Trail to overlook in Bad Creek is not worth long hike. Hike to top of falls if off limits and dangerous.
Harrison Brant — Google review
Beautiful tall waterfall. The trail goes to an overlook.

Great hike down to viewing platform, well worth the hike for a spectacular view of the lower Whitewater Falls.

Kostas is my favorite local restaurant! Their food is delicious and consistent every time. The Greek salad with chicken added is my favorite thing on their menu!
Casey Whitfield — Google review
So the way that Kostas works is you place your order at the counter, then take a seat at a table with a number that they give you. I ordered the chicken parm with a fountain drink. We got our food within five minutes after ordering. The food was excellent, and the chicken was a lot bigger than I expected! The food was really good, and the service was absolutely amazing. The people at the front counter were very kind and patient, and super friendly. There was someone working in the dining room that cleaned the tables and offered to refill peoples’ drinks. I ended up needing a to-go container, which I was easily able to ask for. I would love to come back to this place and try more of their menu!
Mar Pepin — Google review
Everyone was very friendly, a big burger but it just lacked flavor. Maybe I've just had so much venison lately but it didn't do it for me, the fries were kind of cold in the center. Great looking menu the tuna melt looked really good. I should have gone with it. Just passing through on a road trip.

It has been probably 10 plus years since me and my husband went to Kostas! We both remember it being awesome, but just hadn't gone in a long time. It was great to be back! They have such a variety of options on their menu and healthy ones at that! The prices are great and the service is too. My husband got the Philly cheese steak and I got the Greek salad. Definitely a great place to stop if you're wanting something fast and healthy. The gals at Kostas will take care of you.

Kind of A hybrid of fast food and sit down restaurant. Decent size menu. Order upfront and then find your own table. Plenty of seating. Prices were decent. Food was just decent as well.

We stopped here for a leisurely lunch on a Saturday. Super friendly & helpful service. My son got a Turkey melt and I got a cheeseburger. Both were tasty. We shared a basket of bacon cheese fries… those were super yummy! I appreciated that we were able to sit and talk and munch for a long lunch without feeling rushed. It was a great experience all around.

Five out five. We stopped by for dinner, and not a single person regretted our visit. All four people from our group enjoyed the food, the service and good atmosphere. Ribs, shrimp kebab, fish sandwich, and tropical salad were delicious. I was visiting the town and know for sure where I'll go for lunch next time. Good job, keep it up, guys. Cheers

Barbecue restaurant
Haywood Smokehouse is a BBQ restaurant in Waynesville, North Carolina that is popular for its delicious and juicy barbecue. The restaurant has limited indoor seating so it is best to take out food or visit during peak hours. Some of the menu items include brisket sandwiches and blueberry moscato wine.
This place was great! We stopped here around 8:30pm looking for somewhere to eat after my husband's softball game and they were packed! They close at 9pm and were still taking in parties of all sizes. Since it was going to be a 30 min wait for the 2 of us, we opted for a to-go option. I got the pulled pork sandwich plate and my husband got the pulled pork and brisket plate with mac and cheese, baked beans, and green beans. Then we both got some banana pudding. It was ALL fantastic and I can't complain about not one thing! The pork had a nice smoky flavor and the brisket was tender and juicy. The baked beans were sweet with a bit of spice to them and had burnt end pieces of pork in them to enhance the flavor, and the green beans had a slight pork flavor also. The banana pudding is a very large serving packed full of sliced bananas and Nilla Wafers. All in all you will not be disappointed with anything you get here! If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely go back to Haywood Smokehouse.

AMAZING! This place has some of the best BBQ I've ever had. Everything had tons of flavor. The meat by itself was delicious. No sauce needed. However for someone that loves sauces, this place had them all. Some of the most interesting, complex and well put together flavors. Our server was excellent. Courteous friendly and helpful! I'm from out of state and I'm planning my next trip near here just so I can get some great BBQ again.

My goodness was this amazing. The level of flavor developed on the brisket was next level. Best bbq I've had, period. Sides were all homemade and perfect. Affordable too. Fed my family of 4 for $30

The restaurant is quaint and well staffed. The staff was very friendly and helpful in explaining the menu and the different sauces. The food was top notch!! We had their pork belly tacos, very good! Their ribs, so delicious! Our waitress Roscio, asked how everything was and told us that they are known for their brisket and gave us a sample, she was not wrong, we had to order some to go!!! Would definitely come back to North Carolina just to eat here again!!

This was one of the best bbq smoke houses we have ever been to. Not only was the food delicious and amazing, the service was outstanding! We ordered a full slab dry rubbed ribs, it came with 2 sides and we also ordered a large burger. The brisket burger it also came with a side and it was delicious! They are very generous with the food. There was a lot left over from our family of 2 adults and 2 kids. Also the prices here are unbeatable! We paid just under $50 plus tip!Our server was very professional and went above and beyond. We were very pleased with everything! Highly recommend checking this place out and checking out this town its truly amazing! The place has great vibes and feels like you walked into a scene from an American movie! Highly recommend it!

My wife and I are always looking for good barbeque restaurants. This past weekend we were in Dillsboro, NC and discovered Haywood Smokehouse! 🐖 Their address is 403 Haywood Rd, Dillsboro, NC 28725. Great food, great service and great atmosphere - what more could you ask for right? This is obviously a very popular place to eat in that they were extremely busy when we were there. And we had a late lunch that day, probably 1:30 pm or so when we arrived. My wife and I both had the pulled pork BBQ platters. We both got baked beans as one of our side items...they were delicious. I got fries and my wife got coleslaw for our second side. They were good too. If there is a downside to this place it's their lack of parking. There's a very small parking lot beside the restaurant. We actually parked elsewhere about a block away and walked to the restaurant. After we finished, I noticed that the Great Smoky Railroad passenger train out of Bryson City, NC had stopped so I got some up close and personal photos of the train as we walked back to our car! 🚂🚃

If you go here try to get Susie to wait on you. She was awesome and so was the food. I mean everything we had was great and when we go back to that area I am going to go on Saturday so I can try the babyback ribs. Susie suggested them so they have to be awesome.
Robbie Slagle — Google review
Skip breakfast so you have plenty of room for these delicious and plentiful food platters. I made myself eat all of it as I could not think of desecrating it in a microwave as leftovers. There are great sauces to choose from.

I had a tasty brisket sandwich. My husband had brisket, mac & cheese, and baked beans. All delicious. We also tried the blueberry moscato wine, which everyone should try. Very nice variety of sauces.
Christina Strong — Google review
My husband and I stopped here for dinner one night while on vacation and we loved everything! We got ribs, brisket, sausage, turkey, and pulled pork all of which were incredible! So moist, tender, and flavorful. The beans and potato salad were both excellent as well. We had the original sweet bbq sauce and it was great on everything! The only problem we had is the fact that we live 9 hours away and can't get it more often. Literally the best barbecue we've ever had!
Haley Stover — Google review
We had dinner here last night. It was well worth the 20 minute trip from Bryson City. My son had the double brisket and my husband had the brisket and turkey combo. They both said it was the best brisket they ever had. Also, the turkey was super juicy and flavorful. We had the cobbler for dessert. Fantastic place!
Rita Vester — Google review
This is by far the best restaurant in the area. Their food is worth the drive. They have perfected the art of cooking in a smoker, the brisket has a perfect bark, flavor and juiciness. The ribs are perfect and they offer different recipes of barbecue sauces (Sweet red and Giorgos Fire being our favorites). Their deserts are on par with the rest of the food, we tried their pecan cobbler and the hot brownie and ice cream. Great atmosphere and great service.

This is the type of place that you are hoping to find when hunting for hidden gems on a road trip. -Food is fresh and seems to be local -Sauces are AMAZING (if we weren't on our way into the mountains we definitely would've bought a bottle) -Friendly locals keeping the place packed A must-stop on your way to and/or from the mountains.

I am a WNC native, and needed to give this place a try. I am glad I did! Just an hour from Asheville, this spot is located downtown Dillsboro. Their brisket is apparently #1 in the country AND Canada. We had to give it a try. I will tell you, I am not a brisket fan, so this brisket didn’t sway me. Their BBQ sauces were fantastic on it, and it had a great bark. The baby back ribs outshined the brisket, in my opinion. The sides also outshined the brisket. The ribs, coleslaw, potato salad, and greens were AMAZING! Highly recommend! The banana pudding is exactly what your grandma would make. The wafers were crunchy, the bananas were perfection, and the whipped cream was fantastic. Best banana pudding! Do I recommend this establishment? 1000%

Wooooweee the ribs on Saturday are amazing!! They slide right off the bone!! They only smoke the baby back ribs on Saturday’s, so you must make the trip on Saturday. Their side porch is also pet friendly so we were able to bring the dog. We were on vacation and it was hot so it was nice she could sit with us instead of in the car with AC running. The sides are also amazing, the Mac n cheese and collard greens were delicious. Our server was also the sweetest lady and brought our dog ice water.

We were seated immediately. Our meal was delivered to the table in about 5 minutes after ordering! Great friendly service! Excellent food. You need to try their brisket, burnt ends baked beans, potato salad, and collared greens. You're gonna love it! Come hungry!
Charles Eaton — Google review
Wait, time was a little long. But there are not a lot of options nearby, WCU is a busy campus, and Dillsboro and Sylva have options, but they are all smaller scale, so the wait times are a bit longer everywhere you go. The food was good. I had the half slab ribs sides of burnt end baked beans and Mac and cheese. The ribs were excellent, and the baked beans were excellent. The Mac cheese was terrible, took about a bite or two, and never touched it again. The serving size on the sides was generous. My wife and daughter had the pulled pork. Which they liked. Then, the 3 of us shared a peach cobbler with ice cream on the side. Would def visit this location again while at WCU visiting. I would avoid the Mac n cheese though......
Ricky Moorehead — Google review
We stopped here when traveling through we were actually going to go somewhere else but it had an hour wait and this was within walking distance so we came here they only had a 25 min wait and it was a true 25 mins. They were very busy but the staff was very kind and didn’t rush anything got our food and we were absolutely stunned! This place is amazing and highly suggest to give it a try!
Diranda Hamby — Google review
If you’re in the area you must stop in and eat here! They have some of the best brisket and pulled pork I’ve ever eaten. They have a bunch of sauces to choose from, but honestly the meat is so good it doesn’t even need any sauce. Our server was so friendly and helpful I wish I could remember her name. The baked beans were probably the best I’ve had at any restaurant. If we return to the area Haywood will definitely be on our itinerary!
Cindy T — Google review
Im from Texas, so I always like to go to barbecue restaurants that serve brisket outside of the Lone Star state. Haywood came with a lot of good reviews and I was over at innovation brewery and wanted some barbecue and got some takeout. The brisket was not bad, but it wasn't up to Texas. Standards, not enough smoke and a little dry. The Pulled pork was much better. And I love all the different sauces you could put on it, the hot and sweet was the best with a mustard based Carolina flare. It was a little expensive more than I thought. At 28 bucks for a 2 meat plate.

My staff and I were out yesterday on an excursion and we found this little gem. We were looking for a late lunch place. We were welcomed and seated fast and we had the best waitress, Susie. Fantastic Food and atmosphere! We sat on the side porch next to a bubbly little stream. I ordered the Mandarin Chicken salad and a cup of Roasted Sweet Potato soup, both were really good. My son ordered a specialty cheeseburger which he said was very good! Great portion size, and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

This used to be one of our favorite spots for lunch. Popped in last week with our daughter who was visiting. Ordered cocktails then lunch. Food was served and drinks were no where in sight. We had to run down someone to find our drinks. My husband and I told the server we would share the Reuben. When presented with the bill we noticed a $3 split charge (they gave us a separate plate and some chips). Was just going to go with it until we noticed another $2.50 service charge plus a fee to pay by credit card. Since NONE of this was disclosed upfront, we shaved the tip to 15% from 20. This hurts staff when the owners are greedy. Either disclose the fees or bury it in the prices. Last time here for us. There are plenty of other great spots in the area!

Worst experience ever!!! Disorganized as soon as you walk in. They have a check in the system, but nobody knows how to use it. Our waiter was the worst ever absolutely no personality. It took so long just to get drinks and appetizers. We didn’t even wait for the dinner to arrive. This is a sandwich shop. There is no need for such lengthy wait times. Small menu with many items not even available.

Friendly staff. Had to wait a little long for our drinks to arrive but they were very busy. Food was delicious, Bloody Mary was great and homemade desserts were to die for! The buttermilk pie and key lime pie were the best we’ve had in a long time! Large parking lot. While you wait for your table visit the Cashiers Store which is connected to the restaurant…cute Cashiers t-shirts and gear.

This restaurant has been good the past couple of years, but this summer 2023, not good. Hostess looked at us and never got up to seat us until I asked the bartender if we seat ourselves. Then the hostess finally got up and took her time. The waiter was not very pleasant either. The food was nothing to write home about. I wished we had gone someplace else. I would not recommend this place and will not go back.
Belinda Parker — Google review
I own a small business so I do not like posting bad reviews, but this was just not acceptable. Place was packed so we thought the food must be great. Hostess was extremely rude, thought well they are really busy. Was seated sooner than we were told, so that was pleasant. After waiting 10 minutes to get menus it was another 15 before our order was taken. Then We waited an hour and 15 minutes for 2 salads. Husband had crab cake salad and it was decent. I had black and blue salad and the steak was so tough it was hard to eat, the lettuce was brown and some pieces were slimy. It had one grape tomato sliced in half. The blue cheese dressing was very good. I would have sent it back but our waitress was so busy she couldn’t even check back in on us. I understand sometimes things go wrong but when you charge $20 for a salad and it takes that long to get your food, you better make that salad one of the best that customers has ever had. Two salad, vodka soda and a very small bloody mary was $55 not including tip(which we tipped 22% because we watched our waitress bust her butt). Wont go back.

Outstanding service and food!!! Best Black Bean burger hands down. Dogs are allowed outside with covered picnic tables! Our server was the best!!

Incredible food! We went for dinner and drinks, and were wowed by both. Our compliments to the chef, and our bartender! The rest of the staff were great, as well. I can see why my family raved about this place. It lives up to the hype!

I have never written a review and given less than 4-5 stars. However, I feel like my experience here is worth noting. My husband and I left our kids at the hotel with their grandparents for a rare date night on Saturday evening. Food was actually good! But there was a huge breakdown in service going on that made us regret using our rare night out on this place. We ordered a round of drinks at the bar in our 30 min wait for our table and were told the balance would be transferred to our table once we were seated. Upon being seated we saw one table near ours were only noticed after they had been at their table for their anniversary dinner for over an hour with no service. The other table to our left got up and left before anyone ever came and took a drink order. The restaurant was only at 50% capacity due to restrictions, but our waitress said 2 people had called out. Understandable. But there was a manager present, and he stopped at our table after our drinks never arrived to the table, even after our appetizer did, and he dropped them off with a haste apology. He then went and sat at a table and had dinner with a companion, and ignored all of the service chaos going on around him. Our entrees arrived at the exact time our appetizer did. A table of about 6-8 women arrived shortly after us, and were seated at a nearby table, and they had one issue after another. The absent manager/owner could’ve really stepped up and improved the experience for all. But, for us, on a very rare night out, we left disappointed in a 2.5hr dinner that should’ve been maybe 1.5hr. Would not return for dinner here based on the service. Ambience and food were decent.

We had lunch at Cornucopia for the first time on Tuesday, Oct 12, 2021. The restaurant was short handed as sadly most restaurants and other businesses are so we ordered from the bar, took a number and sat at a table. Not a problem. (just Be sure to order everything, including your dessert!) We sat at a table on the outdoor deck overlooking a small creek. We loved the indoor decor, high light colored wooden ceilings and perfect lighting at Cornucopia. It was really beautiful and relaxing! The inside was airy with large windows, open air dining! It was just lovely. There are plenty of tables to sit at. Very roomy. Great bar area! There were 4-5 outdoor tables on a side deck. They also have a Pet Friendly gravel yard area with 4 tables. All outdoor tables had umbrellas to offer shade. Their menu offers a great selection of food and drink items. Very reasonably priced. Their food was outstanding! We ordered their Shaved Ribeye hoagies with melted cheese, onions and peppers. The shaved ribeyes were cooked a nice med rare, extremely tender and very flavorful. The hoagie rolls were very fresh , soft with just the right chew. The ratio of rolls and shaved ribeye was perfect! Not too much, not too little, it was just right. It came with a side order of French fries that were fried to perfection. Crispy on the outside, soft and creamy inside. Not oily at all, not over cooked, they were fried just right. Oh, Be sure to order dessert! We shared a chocolate buttermilk pie that was out of this world delicious! The pie crust was amazing also. My Bloody Mary was exceptional! Bright, peppery, tomato flavor with lemon and lime wedges, and a pickled okra, olive and celery skewer. Mmmm! Being short staffed and having to order from the bar before seating was not too bad. It worked well. The lines of customers were getting long, the restaurant is doing the very best that it can and handled the crowds very well. Just be patient and kind. You will be rewarded with excellent food, great drinks in a beautiful atmosphere with very friendly, welcoming staff. We were not rushed at all and throughly enjoyed our lunch We live a little over an hour away, we visit Cashiers and Highland at least 2-3 times a year. We will definitely be returning to Cornucopia. It is now on our list of being one of our favorite restaurants in the area. We were very impressed! Be prepared to be amazed! we LOVED it! We highly recommend Cornucopia! Thank you Cornucopia for all you do! You have a great, courteous staff, amazing cooks and a beautiful restaurant. We had a great dining experience with you! Good job and Thanks again! I am quite a foodie, love to cook and I really appreciate having a great lunch or dinner out. You made that happen! See you again soon!

Service was a little slow but that's typical in a mountain town. We started with the jalapeno hummus. Not as spicy as I thought it would be but very tasty. We both got tht spicy turkey sandwich. Holy cow the flavors in that sandwich are PERFECT! It is so delicious and definitely spicy. Probably one of the top two sandwiches I've ever eaten. I had the hendricks grapefruit drink. So delicious and wow, a sneaky buzz on the end! I'm a bit if a fry lover so I upgraded to fries with my sandwich since everyone raved about them. They're just regular fries. Nothing amazing here. The chips are pretty good but still just regular. My husband has the Tuscan chicken soup. I tried a bite and it was pretty delicious. Creamy with veges. I would definitely order that again. Atmosphere is top notch. Can't go wrong with a meal here. I highly recommend.

After a long drive on a hill road between beautiful scenery of fall season it's an exhilarating experience to have a tasty mouth watering food here. The little wait because of the rush has not dampened the spirit which was very well compensated during the lunch. Good experience

American restaurant
Micas Restaurant and Pub is a cozy American tavern with a relaxed atmosphere, featuring a simple menu of classic dishes. The recent renovation has transformed the once dark interior into an open and inviting space. Guests can enjoy their meals on the open, covered patio with a fire pit. The food is consistently fresh and delicious, with highlights such as Greek salad with shrimp skewer and flavorful fish and chips. While some visitors found the greeting to be lacking, many praised the attentive service.
Mica's is always a great place to get a great dinner with excellent service. The atmosphere is always inviting and comfortable. I usually get the cheeseburger and fries. Other items the family orders is pizza, chicken tenders, grilled chicken salad and fried okra. I highly recommend Mica's. Dress is casual, prices are fair and staff is friendly.

Asian salad and Salmon BLT was fantastic. I also enjoyed the vegetarian pizza. Only thing not good were the fries. Food was ready quickly and a reasonable price.

This is hands down one of my favorite little restaurants! I’m so glad Sapphire has Micas! They have a nice covered outdoor seating area and even a little cool fire pit area. The indoor seating options are very nice too. There is a little fireplace inside. Their food has always been amazing, every time I have dinned here. The staff and anyone I have had serving or seating has always been attentive and friendly! I love how many different options they have. The fried Shrimp platter and any of their pizzas are great options! Their steak is always wonderful as well. Check them out!

I’ve been to quite a few resort restaurants in South Carolina and most could be considered bar food at best, so I was not expecting much from Mica’s. I’m happy to say that Mica’s served up a brilliant fresh trout and potatoes dish. The French onion soup of the day was also superb. Lovely environment and friendly service. If you’re in the area, Mica’s is a great choice.

Loved this place! The staff was great and the food delicious! I would for sure recommend the “loaded white” pizza! It was the best I have had like that.

The service was fine. The restaurant has a great outdoor covered seating area. I was served the worst sandwich I've ever had. The blackened prime rib sandwich is disgusting. There's no way the chef doesn't know this. Look at the picture of it. It was obviously frozen previously in this shape. Almost looked grey in color. The seasoning used on it would gag a maggot. We won't return to this restaurant.

We’ve been coming to Mica’s since we bought our home in 2007 & Jack stood watch at the front entrance. Times have certainly changed and the new renovation has made what was for so long a dark and dated interior into a bright and more open concept dining concept. The food is always fresh and delicious. Service is attentive, but not overbearing. My Greek salad with shrimp skewer was perfectly cooked and my husband’s fish and chips was very tasty. If you’re in the Cashiers area, lunch or dinner at Mica’s is a must.

We had a delicious meal here. I had the best wedge salad I've ever had. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Our server was disengaged. He would not look at the person speaking, leaving you to believe he was not listening. It was quite odd. I had to go get him when we needed something. The large back covered patio area is nice and we enjoyed the open air.

Great food - a little pricey maybe. The gluten free pizza crust is great! Staff were on top of it and obviously cared!

The tuna app was a bit disappointing. For $24, i expected more than 4 tiny slices of tuna. The sauce tasted like straight soy sauce. It could be so much better. The bang shrimp was delicious. Mom liked her chili. She also got the Asian salad, but she didn't like the chunks of rotisserie chicken. I got the wedge salad and the bacon looked like mushed ham. We'll give it another try. I don't mind spending money, but for a $100 lunch for 3 adults i expect better.

Food Very Good, Table Service Very Good, But the Greeting was not welcoming and can be improved. We had a good dinner there. The food was very good. I had the Onion Soup, which was good, but not great (A little salty), My trout entree and my girlfriend's grilled pork chop dinner were excellent. The house salad was also excellent with nice fresh ingredients. I tried calling several times during the day to see if reservations were advisable and no one answered the phone. They offer pick-up, but how can one place an order when no one answers the phone? Also, the hostess was not friendly and short when we arrived - not a welcoming vibe. She spoke to us more like employees than customers. There are also no seats for people waiting for a table, except for at the bar. Once we were seated, our waitress was very friendly, helpful and efficient. The prices were reasonable. Given the quality of the food and the service provided by our server, we will return. If I were the owner, I would work on the greetings people get when they arrive and be sure that someone answers the phone. After all, this is a patron's first impression.

Dropped in after a day of chasing waterfalls wearing our cargo shorts and hiking boots to order a pizza to go. For a place that appeared to be higher end, we were welcomed with smiles and friendly staff. When we got the pizza back to our place, we were amazed at the quality and freshness of the toppings. Delicious! We will be back!

Lulu's On Main is a highly praised establishment that offers delectable steaks, seafood, vegetarian and vegan dishes. Customers can also indulge in an impressive array of wines and cocktails. The overall dining experience is exceptional, with prompt seating and menu distribution. However, there have been instances of slow service during the order-taking process which almost led to customers leaving. Fortunately, once their orders were taken, the service improved significantly.
Absolutely Excellent Food! The restaurant is very nice inside and the service is great also. They allow you to call ahead and have outside rear deck seating as well as unique indoor seating. Lulu's has become our local favorite!

Amazing tasting food! There’s a ton of vegan and vegetarian options to choose from and they all taste great. The tempeh burger is the best! And fries are good too. We also got noodles and the taste was nice. Lots of different types of cuisine.

Good food, good service. We had French onion soup, Southwest salad and Thai noodle soup. All delicious, fresh tasting and seasoned to perfection. Only tried the lunch menu but I plan on going back for dinner soon!

Overall great experience. We were seated and given menus quickly. However it took a long time to come and take our order - I was just about ready to leave. After that, service was good. My wife had the Thai chicken soup which was outstanding. I had the chicken piccata with pasta. I enjoyed it but it was a little less lemming than I like it. I appreciated the large portion of broccoli that came with it, and unlike another reviewer I liked that it was lightly cooked and had some stem on it. Would probably go back.

We had more people show up for our reservation than expected, but the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Everyone in our group was very happy with what they ordered. And our waitress was phenomenal. Great beer selection, too. We will definitely be back.

We stopped in for lunch and were thoroughly impressed. My wife had the French onion soup and veggie noodles, I ordered the Lulu burger - well executed and fried green tomato was an excellent touch. Service was warm, loved the space.

I had the snapper and scallops covered in a lobster cream sauce, with cheese grits and broccoli. It was delicious. The scallops were cooked perfect. The grits were super good. I had the brownie for dessert. It comes warm, and super soft. So rich. The staff were really nice and it was a cool little place. Definitely recommend giving them a try.

First time stopping into Lulus. Pork belly app was delicious! Good selection of wines, drinks and beers. Had the seafood Creole etoufee…. very good! We also got the meatloaf which was very good as well. Will surely return to try some more dishes!

Although the food was excellent, the acoustics were not. It was difficult to hold a table conversation due to the higher level of ambient noise. Still, the dinner was delicious. All four of us were quite satisfied with both portion sizes and exceptional prep/cooking. Good service and great food is a good combination.

My wife and I stopped by Lulu's for a dinner date and oh my word it was so amazing. We had the Mozarella small bites which were good, I had the marsala chicken and my wife had the thai chicken basil soup, which was absolutely divine. The decor was very unique and so cool to look at and our server was incredible. All in all I highly recommend trying it out!

My husband and I love going to Lulus’s on Main. It’s the perfect place for any occasion. We love the peaceful atmosphere along with the friendly and efficient service. We enjoy coming for lunch and dinner. There are so many delicious items, you can’t make a bad choice. For lunch we love the phrench dip, muffuletta, Italian sandwich, steak salad, banh mi, cuban, gyro, and any of the bowls. For dinner, the chicken, marsala, chicken piccata, steak, and short ribs. We never forget to ask about the specials because they are always amazing. We can always count on Lulus for something new and interesting to try. They have a nice wine selection and some great tasting cocktails. If you choose to dine here, I’m confident you will come back again and again as my husband and I have for several years. Pictured is a lunch special, a blueberry barbecue chicken sandwich topped with smoked Gouda cheese, caramelized, onions, and spinach with a side of fries and mimosa.

The restaurant was very clean, great table service. The food was lackluster. I ordered a Cuban, which was very dry. Onion rings were great. My daughter ordered the gyro, which was ok, but dry, very creamy feta. My sister ordered a cold pasta dish. She was not impressed. Ingredients were not mixed into the salad, very dry, they only offered lemon oil. I ordered the meatloaf patty sandwich to go for my husband, and it was delicious. I wouldn't go back. The environment is nice but we had to sit at a table center to the dining room. Not a fan. Also, in the middle of people coming and going. I don't like people all behind me with no privacy.

We just loved LuLus. When you walk in you're in this relaxed but bustling main dining area with a cosmic light up petite bar area with a handful of stools and an airy feel. We passed on indoor dining and headed out to the back deck which was open aired and quite quiet. The food was so good, just wish we couldve tried more We quickly agreed to share the fried green tomatoes and Trout po' boy, and Wow did it deliver. We got the Trout loaded with fries and rings and it was Very fresh and the FGT were out of this world. I Cant wait to revisit this Gem in Sylva when I'm back in town. Great Ambiance, with prompt and friendly service Don't miss out!
