This is the best playground I've ever seen, been, experienced so far. Even though popular and pretty crowded, so much spaces to play, and all the equipment are safety concerned so very safe to play. There are good toilet facilities and some food trucks, as well as BBQ facilities and carparking spaces.
Noriko Matsuhashi — Google review
The Margaret Mahy Family Playground in Christchurch is a delightful haven for families. The play equipment is not only high-performance but also impeccably clean, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for kids. A must-visit for Christchurch residents with children or for visitors looking for a top-notch family-friendly destination.

An amazing play area for the kids right in the heart of city of Christchurch. There are a mix of areas for the kids, water play which is great especially on the hot day we were there, sand pits for the smaller kids with diggers, and then the general play area that is just massive with beets to climb and slides to tear down! Kids loved this spot!
Dar Kin — Google review
Free parking available, drinkable water fountain is also available. There's enough space and safety precaution for every child to play with. Good place to hangout with friends and family too.
Jam — Google review
Quite a lot of free parking, and such a super cool playground! Heaps to do, though you may have to wait in queue since it's super busy. Not the best for toddlers, I definitely wouldn't take my 1-yo at a busy time, but he had a lot of fun when there weren't many other people there.
Bridget Gilchrist — Google review
Excellent park to take the kids to, good play equipment and many things to keep them amused. Great location next to the Avon River right in the city, lots of parking, clean toilet facilities, sheltered bbq area and a water feature section to keep them cool. Highly recommend
Tina Snow — Google review
One of the best city family playgrounds in Christchurch. Pros: 1. Massive park 2. So many activities for kids 3. For adults too 4. Plenty of free parking 5. Toilets are clean Cons: 1. But windy
Ragavan Rajan — Google review
Perfect playground for kids! Any age from 2 and upwards! There is a sand area as a water play area, this place is epic! My kids loved the large slide and the zip line. They could spend here all day. Plenty of sitting area around the playground but lacks shading. Coffee, ice cream and food trucks around the playgrounds
Kitty T — Google review
Best playground I have seen in New Zealand. It's like a free amusement park. The big slides are fun for kids but also for toddlers accompanied by their guardian or even as an adult its just fun. There is ample parking for 180 minutes. Toilets available. Also drinks and snacks on the area
Joris (Joris) — Google review
The BEST family playground ❤️ in Christchurch...amazing to see some many children having fun with others
Dennis Rollings — Google review
This is a great park for kids, there is plenty of parking, plenty of space to move around. The playground equipment caters for all ages & abilities. There is also some water activities that is great for warmer weather. The park is very close to the centre of Christchurch (& the tram) if you want to visit the shops as well. If you need to burn some energy off the kids, take them here !
jason turpin — Google review
It's a beautiful park that has almost everything that kids will enjoy of all ages (2+ years & above) and parents to sit and enjoy the stream close by. There is a BBQ station and picnic tables available too. Has decent number of parking spaces too. Splash pad is a very good activity during summer too.

Banks Peninsula, a volcanic promontory spanning over 440 square miles, is a popular destination for hiking as well as dolphin sightings. The village situated within the harbor shares its name with the peninsula and is celebrated for being the sole French settlement in New Zealand. Visitors can explore the picturesque town before enjoying some of the best fish and chips around at one of its many establishments.
I have been to the Banks Peninsula several times, from day trips to nights. The best experience I have ever had is sleeping in the car and waking up on the bay in the morning to see the scenery.

This place is too beautiful. Please don't visit. It will put you off all other places.

Stunning view everywhere. This is an amazing peninsula and not far away from Christchurch. If you want to stop your car and take photos please be aware of the traffic. The road is not flat. I drove my car from Chuistchurch to the small town Akaroa in the early morning and enjoyed the view of Sunrise. It is really beautiful and peaceful. I believe you will love the drive. Cheers

Good view, but submit road is arrow, not easy to drive. Be prepared to drive very slow, sometimes you can do only about 30k/h.

Christchurch's Botanic Gardens is a vast, sprawling garden that offers visitors a diverse range of plants from around the world. Spanning 30 hectares, the gardens are particularly beautiful in spring when the trees are in full bloom. There are several themed gardens to explore as well as a playground for kids and a cafe with gift shop. Guided walks depart from either Canterbury Museum or the Botanic Gardens visitor center every hour from October to May.
Always an amazing place for a walk any time of year. Beautifully curated with many different zones for different plants. Lots of choices for picnic spots. Each of the tropical houses or fern houses are a must see with the range of colourful flowers and plants

A beautiful place. Visited from Auckland and spent a good few hours here, can’t beat it on a gorgeous sunny day! Lots if birds who all look very happy, plus a range of trees, flowers and stunning scenery. The conservatory is a great experience and full of interesting plants. Will definitely be back!
Jas Bull — Google review
Not without a reason this city is called Garden City. Regardless of the time of they year and if you are a local or visiting tourist - Botanic Gardens never disappoint. It’s one of the most beautiful gardens in New Zealand. Plenty of walkways to explore amazing collections of flowers, bushes and some of the oldest trees in the country. Walkways by the river are especially rewarding and calming with the water. There are some “hidden” houses offering some indoor plants and tropical flora, rose garden is especially beautiful during blooming time in spring, but so is everything else. Autumn colours have it’s unique charm too. Something for everyone, families, couples and groups. For parents with kids there is dedicated playground area. Parking places are quite limited but there are some surrounding streets around Harley Park where you can always find a spot.
Rafael K — Google review
My favourite place in Christchurch! Beautiful, calm, well maintained. The trails are easy, clean and there are many surprises along the way, such as small lakes, birds, different types of trees, flowers and other plants. The place is magical
Let?cia Surmas — Google review
Absolutely gorgeous place. I could spend all day in this garden and still not see everything. I went during summer and it was beautiful and I felt at peace! This is a must see place in Christchurch. The garden is divided into areas with plants from different regions. I hope to go back here some day!
Kiki S — Google review
Beautiful! Love beautiful flowers & colors during spring and plentiful roses (in rose garden) in early summer. You'll amaze to see many types of roses with various colors! They have playground and small pool (open on summer) and its kid's friendly park. Love to come here with kids
FizaRahman FazzKlean — Google review
Lovely botanical garden during spring. Lots of flowers from azalea, magnolias and camellias. Roses are in bud flowers, need to wait a little bit for the blossoms. Lot of flowers too in the hot house as you can see on the picture. Another little house for the fern with wood moas. Car park is free during three hours, it is enough to visit all the park.
Alice B. — Google review
Beautiful place to visit, relax and take a stroll. Running around it is the Avon river, which has ducks, eels and sometimes Swan's Playground for the children and an ice cream shop close by. Great place for a picnic or to have sometime to sit and read a book. The greenhouse has many tropical plants, everything from banana plant to cactus. Must see gardens if you are visiting Christchurch
Sha Ron — Google review
Came early on a sunny Sunday as easier to get parking. The grounds are well maintained with lots of areas and trees/flowers to explore. The visitors centre coffee shop is a good place to stop for a break. Watch out for the birds trying to get your sandwiches!
Shahrir Zaid — Google review
A beautiful spot to wander around just outside of the centre of Christchurch. Full of constantly changing beds of flowers and a variety of indoor areas you'll almost always find something new. The rose garden is particularly special and there's even a heritage rose garden hidden away on the other side of the Avon River. The fountains and statues throughout the park provide a widely varied experience and the New Zealand gardens can even provide you a glimpse of what the wild West Coast is like.
Edwin Dawe — Google review
Easily one of the best features of the Garden City Ōtautahi Christchurch. I absolutely love the Botanic Gardens and frequently visit for a stroll with friends or by myself as it is so refreshing. There's lots of birdsong and gorgeous flowers all year round. No matter how many times I visit there is always something new to see! I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city.
Amelia Hamlin — Google review
The gardens are completely free. We did, however, book a guided tour in a little bus, which was $25pp. I never thought I would see a Californian Red Wood tree in my lifetime, and they have 7 of them in the park. Well, it's worth a visit. It's definitely one of the best parks I have seen in all my travels.
Carl Papenfus — Google review
The Botanical Gardens in Christchurch are absolutely stunning. Beautifully maintained, filled with diverse plant life, and perfect for a peaceful walk. A must-visit for nature enthusiasts. Highly recommended!
Zaza Azizan — Google review
Loved the gardens and the 2 lovely staff we saw (at Door 1) adding touches to the fairy walk for the July 2022 school holidays. Highly recommend checking out the amazing tree near the peacock fountain! Look forward to the next school holiday activity there!
Noisybabe007 — Google review
Free parking, lots of beautiful gardens and the river flowing through the middle. Very peaceful and recommend a visit while in Christchurch. So many gorgeous flowers, interesting buildings and good public amenities. We had a travel pram with okay (not great) wheels - we got a bit stuck in some of the gravel paths - sunk into the gravel and pushing was a challenge.
Michael Engemann — Google review
Definitely a five star experience, so good we had to go back for a second visit. Magnificent trees. Avon river running through only adds to the experience. Don't miss the heritage rose garden - in full flower November, and the cottage vegetable garden.
Viv MacFarlane — Google review
One of my favorite go-to places to relax. Spring time is the best season to visit as the flowers are in full bloom. All sorts of colors will flood your senses 🥰 Aside from that, there's also a playground with a paddling pool nearby so the kids will also enjoy.

Christchurch Botanic Garden is an absolute gem in the heart of the city! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I recently had the pleasure of visiting this serene oasis, and it exceeded all my expectations. The garden's beauty is unmatched, with a vast collection of plants and flowers that will delight any nature lover. 🌿🌺 The diverse range of themed gardens, including the Rose Garden and the Water Garden, offers a delightful experience for every season. The carefully manicured landscapes, stunning floral displays, and tranquil water features create a sense of peace and tranquility. 🌷💧 One of the highlights for me was the Avon River, which gently winds its way through the garden. You can even take a punt ride for a unique perspective of the surroundings. 🚣‍♂️ The garden's free entry is a bonus, making it accessible to all. It's a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll, a family picnic, or simply finding a quiet corner to relax and escape the city's hustle and bustle. 🧺🌞 Overall, Christchurch Botanic Garden is a must-visit destination for locals and tourists alike. Whether you're a botany enthusiast, a photographer, or just someone looking for a peaceful retreat, this place has something for everyone. 📸🌲 I couldn't recommend it more highly, and I can't wait to return to witness its beauty in different seasons. Don't miss out on this green paradise in the heart of Christchurch!" 🌳💚

Amazing plant inventory and historic plantings that survived the earthquake. Loved the little golf cart train tour with Karen's commentary. Lots of history and info. Great cafe at the mid point. Would definitely go again. Allow minimum 2 hours to half a day.

Huge gardens you can spend hours walking around, there are lots of benches around the place you can sit and relax, and a couple of little cafes. There's a river going through it with heaps of ducks which is cute. Relaxing place to spend time if you enjoy nature and walking around
T Trifonoff — Google review
It's a beautiful place to go for a walk. There's lots to see when wandering around, to see different fauna and flora. The rose garden and the dahlias were blooming beautifully. The plant houses and the fern house are great places to explore. The botanic garden is just near the city centre and free to visit. Car park and toilets available.
Lyza T — Google review
Absolutely beautiful gardens. Whilst following the river, we arrived at the Gardens, accidentally. It was free, so we went in and I highly recommend it. It was gorgeous and we saw so many types of birds. The central rose gardens was in full bloom, the greenhouse was gorgeous, and the overall place was so beautiful and perfect for a stroll on a sunny day.
Eva — Google review
We had some spare time so we strolled around the botanic gardens. Entry is free, we have paid to see gardens not as good, There is a good cafe plus walking and shuttle (paid) tours. Get a free map, they highlight different areas according to the season. The conservatories, with various sections including tropical rain forest and desert cacti, was really good. There is a large rose garden (where the dahlia border is on the late summer map) and other sections displaying different vegetation. There are ponds and a play area and it is all set in a large horseshoe of a shallow river, where you may see a punt go by. There is car parking close by, along with many sports pitches and more lakes. There is a suggested 30 min walk. We spent a couple of hours, would have spent longer if we weren't off to the airport, enjoying the tranquility.
Keith Carrington — Google review
The gardens are a nice mix of park, arboretum, a few sculptures, a stream, ponds and the greenhouses and a peacock-less fountain. The greenhouses were a treat with bright floral displays and some specialist areas. There are sculptures dotted around, and plenty of birdlife to spot. You can spend a couple of hours wandering around.
Ian Spencer — Google review
The gardens are stunning! They are so close to where we stayed and it was open on Christmas Day! It was a lovely place to walk through and there are so many places to stop for a minute and enjoy the birds and life there. There are also so many little places to read or sit for a minute. Definitely worth a wander while in Christchurch.

Lots of big and amazing trees. The Giant Redwood tree is magnificent. The Rose garden is a must see. Lots of different varieties or colors of roses. Under the big glass dome, you will wind many subtropical plants. I like the cactus room and room with lots of pitcher plants. A beautiful big garden for a walk with beautiful avon river. Parking is pretty reasonable inside the park. I also love the beautiful weeping willow trees.

The Air Force Museum of New Zealand preserves the country's military and aviation history dating back to at least the early 1900s. The museum has multiple buildings housing a diverse collection of relics, including those from local efforts as well as those obtained from former enemy forces. While not everyone will find the history museum an appealing destination, it is a must-visit for anyone interested in air power and military history.
Did a training day here. Rob & the team were fabulous and venue was so well equipped with state of the art Zoom facilities. The coffees and food were excellent and Heroma service was delightful. Highly recommend the venue for your next event

Lovely place! Very informative and plenty of things to see. I really recommend going on a tour as you will be able to visit tour-only sites! Our guide, Chris, was really nice and helpful. We spent about 2-3 hours here, that’s including the tour. The museum also has a mosquito jet simulation that you can try on.

Airforce Museum of NZ was a great experience, free entry & hours of entertainment. We paid to participate in the 'Treasure Hunt', my hubby didn't quite complete his (too busy looking at the planes) but my son loved the challenge (3 to choose from). We paid $2 each & took a tour - got to hear some history but also saw some behind the scenes exhibits & restoration. Such a great morning. Cafe available also.
Rozz Wilton — Google review
Amazing FREE museum located not far from the centre of the city. If you're restricted to public transport then buses are available from the centre that stop almost directly outside. There's an exhibition showing off the stories of those that participated in the air force throughout history and the origins of it. There's hangars full of varied planes and even a couple you can venture inside to see how they look. Would say it's an easy 2 - 3 hour experience depending on how in-depth you want to go through it. The staff were very helpful at the front desk showing us all the different areas and going through the museum was an easy enough experience.

great place to visit, whenever you visit Christchurch, it is free but we gave donation as it is well-maintained for it to continue. good for family day and fun for the kids

A MUST go if you visit Christchurch! What a great museum with very friendly staff and full of historic stuff around Air Force and the great wars! A lot of airplanes very well preserved! Also they provide a guided tour with staff who can tell much more details and stories about the events between NZ and the wars around the globe. SURPRISINGLY is free entry but I did and strongly recommend a donation to keep all the place working good and well as its running nowadays.

I visited here on the day that should hold an air show, but it was canceled due to the bad weather, which was such a shame. There were so many cool air force stuffs from the gear they carry to actual fighter helicopters and jets with their engine showed. There was also a vintage cars demonstration that day, they are so beautiful and classic with wooden body and wire rims.

I recently visited The Airforce Museum in Christchurch, and it's a hidden gem that's well worth the trip, despite being a bit outside the city due to its location on an old airforce base. The best part? It's absolutely free! The amount of information and the things you can see and touch are nothing short of incredible. It's a fantastic activity for children, and they have a wide array of exhibits. I decided to take the $2NZ tour, and it was an absolute bargain. The tour allowed us to explore the inside of a plane, visit the workshop, and even go behind the black curtain where more planes are undergoing maintenance. It's fascinating to learn that they receive plane donations from the Airforce but have limited space. So please donate generously. I highly recommend taking the tour; it's well-deserved praise. My tour guide, John, was fantastic, and it's evident that all the volunteers are passionate airplane enthusiasts with connections to the airforce. Even if you're not familiar with all the aircraft, you should still pay a visit to learn more about the history of the First and Second World War flights. A must-visit for history and aviation enthusiasts!

New Zealand has a rich, storied military history and the Air Force Museum of New Zealand does a great job of showcasing the history from early days to now. The museum sits on the edge of a former World War 2 airfield that is still marked as military property. Inside the exhibits include lots of well maintained historic aircraft with many well done exhibits that tell stories not only of aircraft but of the men (and dogs) of the country's air forces. Well worth a visit.

Wonderful and educational place to take kids and family. They have a good collection of vintage aircrafts that used to be part of New Zealand Airforce fleet. The museum is clean and beautiful, with huge parking space for visitors. It's completely FREE, which is nice, but we can book a group tour for $5. Hagley Park North is a sprawling urban park located in central Christchurch, New Zealand. It has a network of walking tracks and includes a small lake, tennis and other sports courts, and a museum. The park also includes the Christchurch Botanic Gardens, which contains more than 3,000 mature trees.
Spent almost three hours just wandering around the gardens and still saw less than half of it. Took so many photos - a plant lovers paradise. Tropical house the favourite but very warm on a warmish day. Autumn leaves everywhere - one of the best times to visit I think. Will try and do rest of gardens and maybe even a punt on the river before I have to head back home. An absolutely must visit, if just for a picnic in the grounds or a stroll through nature.

Lovely large park on the edge of the city that incorporates the botanical gardens, parts of the river and lots of space. Footpaths and bike tracks make it all accessible and there appears to be car parking in the park itself. Many things to see including colourful gardens, big old trees and grassy areas. Well worth checking out.

Very beautiful park with lots of activities to enjoy. It is amazing to see that Christchurh has been able to maintain such a great park with large botanical garden within it. This place is a must visit landmark when coming to Christchurch as it is located in the central area of the city. Bring food and drink while enjoying the walk through the park as the walkway is kilometers long and could be exhausting. There are plenty spaces to sit and relax, though.

Spring is here, can see lots of flowers blooming in the botanical garden. We are lucky enough to see daffodils 🌼 it looks amazing, there is daffodil woodland which is like a fairy tails. Really enjoyed the time here. have not been to all the places in this garden though. Still need to explore more. There is a beautiful rose garden in the middle of the botanical garden but this is not the season for the roses. Able to see only in its blooming season. Always enjoy the walking in this garden and looks perfectly different every time I visit.

Hadley Park in Christchurch is an absolute gem! This central park is a serene oasis with a remarkable array of trees, especially those planted in parallel rows—truly impressive! It’s a favorite spot for locals, and you’ll often find people walking their dogs, adding to the delightful atmosphere. The park offers a tranquil escape in the heart of Christchurch. For nature lovers and those seeking a peaceful stroll, Hadley Park is a must-visit. Highly recommend for its beautiful greenery and relaxing ambiance! 👍

Hagley Park has got to be one of NZ's best places to visit. Astoundingly beautiful on a sunny spring day, lots of colours all around. Vast acres to walk about, have coffee and just sit around.

Hamburger restaurant
This burger joint is highly popular in Queenstown for its inventive burgers made with beef, chicken, and other exotic proteins. The burgers are big and delicious, and lines can form around the corner during peak season. patience is rewarded at this place with truly amazing burgers.
I visited this burger shop today. I ordered pork belly burger. It is huge. Ingredients are so fresh. Pork belly is quite thick. It is so great and yummy. Burger taste is not strong but so good.. Bun size is quite big enough and so soft. Interior is quite unique. Highly recommended.

Fantastic bakery and burgers!! It is famous for a reason. Vast choice of freshly made bakery staples including breads, pretzels, toasts, divine pies and bagels, plain and loaded. The bakery is conveniently open from early morning till late at night. Burgers are a must try - pork belly burger was a great surprise and absolutely divine. Great fast and friendly service and vibe. Last but not the least - Apple pie with a scoop of ice cream is a must try!

We did takeaway, but still had a great experience. In addition to the wonderful food, because that’s a given, our experience was enhanced by the friendly guy who was making sure we had a menus, knew what to order, etc. I feel bad that I didn’t catch his name, but he’s French. Super nice guy!
Lisa Baker — Google review
It's worth the queue and wait. delicious, juicy, and so good! Had their signature burger and the lamb one. Shakes were great, too. I highly recommend the salted caramel and Bailey's one. Best ever.

We ordered 2 burgers by phone: The Fergburger with cheddar cheese & mr Big Stuff. The service is real good and nice employees 👌🏻 I don’t get the hype why you need to taste the burgers when you are in Queenstown. The burger was good but not that special to me, to go again. The sauce on the both burgers are good but needs more. Beef is grilled good. Nice burger but not top class
Michael Luijendijk — Google review
Really enjoyed our burgers! Definitely bring a large party so you can try many burgers. Line is always going to be out the door but definitely worth the wait, as they take care of you: they offer sunscreen, umbrellas and even cookies. Iconic spot for a reason!
Alicia Ji — Google review
This place is highly recommended, so we had to try it. We wait in a long cue for about 10min and after we placed our order we waited approximately another 15min. I ordered the original fergburger with chips, the burger and chips were good but not out of this world. I’ve eaten a better burger in Sydney and I have to say this place is a little overrated, I don’t understand what’s the hype is all about. If you try it once, there’s a high chance you won’t come back again.
Daniel Sgroi — Google review
All the Hype is well found... we do not eat Beef or Pork, and ate the chicken varieties.. they blew our mind. Staff is very welcoming and well spoken, specially the girl at reception. Shakes were refreshing and smooth. Fries were well done and rustic but crisp 👌. Recommend highly! ❤ no wonder so many people love this place. Hope they continue the way they are doing. Enjoyed our family time thoroughly!

Such a heavenly Burger. One of the best burgers I have ever had in my life. It tastes so delicious that you forgot any burger you tried before me, maybe this is the best burger I have ever tried in the whole world. The portion of burger is quite larger than normal burger. It is better to take away your burger and have it nearby while enjoying the city.
Shashank Dholakia — Google review
Must try burger in Queenstown 🤩 rich flavour of beef patties, perfectly melted cheese, and well balanced sauces. Waiting was long but fun to listen the music there and pretty quick turnaround. Ed sheeran was there too! 💖
Dahee Sohn — Google review
The most famous burger in Queenstown, while the hype may be a bit overblown and the line utterly unreasonable, the burger itself is so delicious. There's a variety of options, but in my opinion, the classic version is the tastiest. I recommend arriving early to avoid a long wait in line.
Mai Srugo — Google review
We went last week and there was quit a line but we only waited about 20minutes. The prices were more affordable then I expected, being such a popular place. Kids burgers are OK nothing amazing. I got the fish burger and it was probably the most bland fish burger I have had. Partner got the big beef burger and really enjoyed it though.
Tiana Sharp — Google review
The burgers at this place are absolutely fantastic! The staff members are super friendly and efficient (the queue is long but it goes by quick), making the whole dining experience even more enjoyable. Plus, the prices are very reasonable for such a delicious and filling burger, which is always a bonus. I've been here multiple times, and I've never been disappointed. The location is also great, right in the town center, so it's easy to find. Although it can get busy with a queue, it's definitely worth the wait. If you're visiting Queenstown, this place is a must-visit! You won't regret it.
Heidi — Google review
The taste of the big burgers was delicious and it had a BBQ aroma. We tried sweet bramby, deluxe, and lamb Fergburger burgers. It would be nicer to have more variety of vegetables in it. The fried skin-on-potatoes were tasty. The staff was very helpful. There was not enough table for a long queue of patrons. It was still crowded at the mid-afternoon of weekday. Cheers! (2023-12)
Ernest Li — Google review
Few of the locals advised it is a must have to try when in Queenstown. The queue just to order was a 20 minute wait and another half an hour wait for the food to be served/take away. This place is known to be busy so I was expecting someone walking and taking orders in advance from the customers who were in the queue. The burgers were large and tasty with crispy fries and onion rings. I recommend you should try to get a NZ experience.
Sultan Daula — Google review
Lives up to the hype. There is a queue but it moves quick. We waited about 5/10 min to order and a other 15 min for the food. As you wait, the staff hands out the menu. There are plenty of options and I was glad to hear their suggestions when I asked. We went two days in a row. First day, we ordered a Deluxe and a Tropical Swine. The tropical swine was it. Delicious. That grilled pineapple takes the burger to a whole nother level. If you like sweet/salty, def five it a try. The next day we came back for dinner. This time we ordered another Tropical Swine and the pork belly burger. The pork was CRIS-PAY... it was a great choice. Also the fries were perfectly crisp and delicious.
Sheryl Zulueta — Google review
The burgers I ordered were good and rich in flavour, worth the price despite usually a long queue to order and about ten minutes wait for it to be done. Comfortable place to stay and eat.
Lucas Sidow de Campos — Google review
One of the best burgers I have had in my life. Enormous portion and great combination of ingredients. Nice ambience although it is better to take away your burger and have it near by enjoying the city! Too much people for such a small place. Very recommendable.
David Ramos — Google review
Burgers were great. The chips were lame. There is always a queue, but it moves relatively quickly. We got a table inside so got to watch the people filter through. It's a good place and the burgers were worth queuing up for. I wouldn't bother with the chips next time.
Ken Loui (Zippy7) — Google review
Super busy, but efficient and yummy burger place. Amazing how many burgers they can produce per minute. Delicate sauces add the extra little touch as well as large buns and juicy meat. Worth taking to water front and watch the sunset.
Sigrid Visser — Google review
We’ve had 2 different burgers that tasted the same. Nothing really special about these burgers, they are just OK. Hype is not justified. The only good thing for us was that we waited 8 min to get the food when we ordered. Checking system on their web site is amazing, but reviewing the burger itself, I would never wait more than 10 min for such a burger.
Katarina Matić — Google review
Simply worth to wait for it. One of the best burger ever in town or in New Zealand. Fergburger with double beef with cheese is fantastic. There are a lot of choices of burger and almost are tasty. No doubt. Highly recommend for all travelers. Staffs are super friendly and, surprisingly, they kinda remember customers who re-visit.
Patthawee Wongsrisathapon — Google review
You wonder what the line is, what the fuss is about, if it's all just hype...people say best burger in NZ, I can't say that it is since I haven't tried all the burgers, but it is damn good! Pictured is the classic Ferg Deluxe burger, their staple no. 1 burger. Texture and flavours were all on point for this burger, but my lettuce was at the bottom, making the juices just flow out, instead of absorbed by the buns. Definitely wasn't eating it upside down, but the other guy next to me was lettuce on top. That was a bit of an issue, made a slight mess. Otherwise great starter burger for anyone visiting. If you're big eater, you'd want the Big Al. System out here is pretty good, line up, order, get a number and check the website for your order if it's ready. Decent system since it's always so busy.
Ryan W — Google review
The burger was worth the long wait. Tasty and huge. Fresh high-quality meat and other ingredients. They take your order very quickly so the long line moves fast enough. But you have to wait a good 30 to 45 minutes for the burger to be prepared and delivered. You can also watch it being prepared. Few seating available inside but hard to get, but there are plenty of options available outside in the public gardens if you can avoid the seagulls. If you want to avoid the queues and you fancy a burger for breakfast, you can walk in and get it fast.
Luigi Fernando — Google review
Been here twice in 3 days. Highly recommend trying the world’s best burger ranking at 32. Service and food is definitely better when they are less busy at night. The bacon is much crispier when we came in at night time. During the day. they are super busy with a long line. Highly recommend their Ferg Delux or if you like avocado, try their Southern Swine. The fries need some work. I don’t recommend because it was not crispy at all, very soggy. The calamari is worth a try. Crispy and fresh calamari.
D J — Google review
Best burgers! Iconic location and great service. The line moved pretty quick, even though it was long. Highly recommend the original Fergs burger! We got our burgers to go and ate down at the waterfront. Was great!
Alix Duyn — Google review
I have to be honest. Food in New Zealand is average at best. But Fergburger was satisfying. We went at 10 a.m. and were able to order before the long line started to form. These burgers are definitely worth a try. The patty has a great flavor. Just come early.

The Boat Shed Cafe & Bistro is a charming café perched on the banks of Lake Wakatipu. It serves breakfast and lunch dishes all day long, as well as great coffee, and has a large deck where you can relax or take in the scenic views.
Had breaky here and OMG the food was great even though they had bookings they still had tables available for walk-ins. Views were awesome from sitting outside. Nice lil cafe situated on the shores of the lake and hidden away. Well worth the visit.

A bit pricey but worth a visit if you are in Frankton heading to Queenstown. The staff aren't very friendly but the food was tasty and of decent quantity. Location, especially the outdoor seating is lovely as it is right on the water. The hot chocolate could have been better though! Would definitely go back when we visit Queenstown next.

Wow what a beautiful place to have breakfast. I absolutely love the Boat shed decor, the food options are amazing. I highly recommend the French toast which is a beautiful and moist, with has a custard and ice cream topping covered with berries. The Turkish dukkah eggs was also delicious. The coffees were great and the service was awesome. A must see in Queenstown!
Scott James — Google review
The most ideal cafe in Queenstown. The history, the views, the house itself, the magnificent coffee and the dishes, some of them, with little flavor. It would be perfect if it didn't take so long to bring your order to you. It doesn't matter if after having lunch or breakfast, not that it takes a while, you order a coffee for dessert, they take forever. Go with time and without rushing to enjoy everything better.
Gabi MM — Google review
Cozy cafe in Frankton. We didn’t realize it’s packed with people until we came inside. 😅 It’s very low key from outside (I think) but pleasantly surprised that it is popular with the locals and tourists alike. Came for breakfast as recommended by a friend. Good selection of dishes, they change their menu per season. Great service and nice view. The Egg Benedict was delicious! And the dessert was perfect with a cup of tea/coffee. 👌 Could be busy but don’t worry, there’s loads of parking space. They’ll even subsidize your parking ticket if you can’t find a space outside the cafe and use the Pay &Display outside.

It’s not often a brunch place gets 5 stars from me, but the food on offer here blew me away! A tiny two man kitchen produces a delicious varied menu with something for everyone! With a view over the lake and the mountains, with attentive staff, fast service and delicious coffee. I had the cilbir poached eggs…they were probably the most delicious poached eggs I’ve ever had! Alongside the granola we followed up with a warm banana and chocolate muffin! A little out the town centre but a short bus ride away, this is definitely worth a visit! You will not be disappointed!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Boatshed Cafe in Queenstown, and I must say it was an exceptional experience. I started my meal with a cup of coffee, and it was nothing short of amazing. The rich, aromatic blend was the perfect way to kickstart my morning. For my main dish, I ordered the chorizo scramble eggs, and I was blown away by the flavors. The eggs were perfectly cooked, and the chorizo added a delightful kick to the dish. The portion was generous, leaving me completely satisfied. What truly sets Boatshed Cafe apart is the stunning view of Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables mountain range. The combination of great food and a breathtaking setting makes it a must-visit when in Queenstown. The service was friendly and efficient, adding to the overall enjoyable experience. I can't recommend Boatshed Cafe enough. Whether you're looking for a great cup of coffee, a delicious meal, or a picturesque lakeside atmosphere, this cafe has it all. I can't wait to visit again!

It’s a nice small cafe with fantastic views of the lake though I wasn’t allocated to a table with this privilege, nothing to complain about the location and view. Service: I actually found the service were quite good and perhaps it wasn’t too busy when I visited it. Food: This is was a bit below expectation for the price and ratings. I found the chorizo sausage extremely tough and hard to bite. Coffee: I ordered a flat white and again, this wasn’t good enough, a bit below average.

This cafe was recommended by the bike rental at Hilton. We biked there for lunch and the food/drinks was surprisingly good. We had long black, iced tea, organic berry juice, mushroom pasta , soba noodle salad with salmon and a cake. Everything we ordered was just so tasty, and the food came out very quick. The servers were super friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Queenstown.
Trista Wang — Google review
The food and coffee was really good, healthy portions and yummy, exceeded our expectations. At first seemed a bit unorganized as it was very busy and took nearly 25mins to take our order, but the food arrived in less than 10mins after the order was taken. Good lake views if you manage to get the seats outside on the left. Had to park in paid carpark but it was subsidized by the cafe when we show our tickets. It was a nice little ending to our holidays.
Suhayl Khan — Google review
Our first experience here was so great, we came back again the next day to try the other items on the menu! Coffee was delicious as well, food was astronomical, views were amazing and staff were friendly. Would definitely recommend!! Note: there’s a paid parking (approx $2 an hour) next to this place if you can’t find any free space outside the cafe.
Charmaine A — Google review
We came here during Sunday brunch time. They looked really busy, but there are tables in front so you can order coffee while you wait. And we were seated in only 15 minutes! It was a nice sunny day, and they have tables on their outdoor patio facing the lake, which we were lucky to get seats on. The view is stunning. As other reviewers have mentioned, the food is on the pricey side, but I think the ambiance and quality of food justifies the price. My friend ordered the chorizo scramble and I ordered the mushroom toast with poached egg. Also popular is their French toast which I saw many orders for coming out. All the food is beautifully plated and tastes great! I really enjoyed my mushroom toast. Very generous heap of mushrooms and the bread was chewy and perfectly toasted.
Lily Tang — Google review
The breathtaking scenery and delightful breakfast are unique and unmatched. However, the service fell short of our expectations and standards. Highly recommend the honey lemon ginger tea!
Jasmin Salman — Google review
This cafe was overrated. We did not have a booking and was assigned to indoor seating without any views. Would recommend anyone here for the views make a booking prior to coming otherwise there is nothing else special about this restaurant. Ordered chorizo scrambled eggs which from the reviews were one of the most popular dishes. The eggs taste good however the chorizo was too firm and hard which was a bit overcooked. Would recommend the cafe can have more options other than chorizo with the scramble eggs. The coffee taste bad.
Yuki K — Google review
Cute little spot tucked away around the marina - the building itself is charming as it is from the gold rush era. Out back, they’ve got an outdoor space facing the lake. The service was friendly and prompt, and the food was decent, though not the most “mind-blowing” brunch/breakfast food I’ve had. I had the salmon waffles and thought it might have been a tad overpriced as the portions of smoked salmon weren’t particularly generous. Regardless, atmosphere was great and I think the tip is to go early (before 10am) so you can snag an outdoor spot before it gets busy as it seems from other reviews, not being able to get a spot by the lake is the main complaint.
Stephanie Cheung — Google review
A different experience in a good way. Loved the view and atmosphere here, the staff was nice and the food was great. Good range of food to choose from. The Brisket roll was very good and the Mushroom Toast was the star of the day! Outdoor dining was great but the falling leaves and bugs might get in your food or drinks so make sure you have a table with covering of you're dining outside!

We Visited this cafe twice while in Queenstown. A nice and cosy cafe with lovely staff. They were very accomodating with our dietary requirements (hence many features are on the side lol). The menu is quite nice too. Only downside was long wait for the coffee during weekend. The vibes were nice especially the view at the back.
khashayar afshar — Google review
So good that we went twice in one week. We booked well in advance so got in without any wait. Service was friendly and despite being super busy, our drinks and food arrived promptly. On our first visit we had the chorizo scramble and the eggs Benny with bacon. The scramble is really delicious but be warned that it is big! The eggs on the eggs Benny were slightly over but still delicious. In our second visit, we had the French toast and the cilbir eggs. Both extremely yummy. The French toast is the best brunch/brekkie dish in NZ I reckon. The eggs were cooked to perfection in the cilbir eggs and it was accompanied by loads of sourdough to mop all the deliciousness up. So damn good!
Toni Gallot (Sakura_kiwi) — Google review
It's a nice place with a lot of character and history located right on the water. I ordered the Eggs Benedict & my husband had the Turkish Eggs, both were tasty. We had to wait 30 minutes or so for a table which was expected on a weekend day without a reservation. The service was great; however, the coffees took a long time to make and came long after we had finished our meals.
Kristen Carfioli — Google review
Lovely restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating - overlooking Lake Wakatipu. Staff were friendly and welcoming, and the overall atmosphere is relaxed and rustic. Reservations are highly recommended as the restaurant gets quite busy during meal times, and there is a wait without one. On a similar note, there is a wait for meals, even coffee - because of this. The aroma of food was mouth watering on entering, and overall, the food was subjectively fine. The mushroom pasta (pappardelle) was tasty, but was excessively oily. The pappardelle was smothered in oil, and sat on top a small pool of oil in its dish (see picture). In presentation, this looked appealing, but in consumption, very oily indeed. Eggs Benedict (Boat Shed Benedict) was good as well. Overall, a nice [busy!] restaurant.

Honestly the best coffee in Queenstown, making other local coffee offerings taste insipid. The location by the lake is great and there is even a bit of local history on display. Our breakfasts were excellent and served quickly despite groups arriving and causing confusion for the staff.

The Greedy Cow Cafe is a popular cafe in Lake Tekapo that serves a wide range of food and coffee, making it one of the best places to eat in town. The cafe has an extensive breakfast and lunch menu and also offers cabinet food made fresh daily. Their coffee is delicious and strong, making it a great place to start the day.
Sometimes it’s the smallest towns that produce the best places to eat and drink and the greedy cow packs an awesome small town punch. This place is popular and you can expect it to be busy when you visit. Even with the large throws of people to satisfy we found the service friendly and efficient. The coffee here is amazing and they do all your favourites in a variety of sizes. Take out or stay and enjoy a cup inside or alfresco on one of the outdoor tables. The food is great and the serving sizes present great value for your dollar. It’s also great to see a cafe doing breakfast a little different. I tried the Beef Hotpot and it’s a great twist on the hum drum eggs and bacon on toast. You get some beautifully tender beef on top of a cheese omelet swimming in a tasty gravy. I used the bread to soak up all the wonderfull gravy and this dish was hearty and satisfying. There are cabinets with sandwiches and pies and sweets for those inclined. A must for anyone travelling this beautiful part of New Zealand where the food and coffee is top notch.

This cafe gets really busy in the morning. The queue started from outside the shop at 10am. Most people ordered take away but others were sitting with inside or outside to have the delicious breakfast. They have a decent selection of pies, bagels, eggs on toast and others. Also coffee was really good. Service is quiet despite the crowd.

This eatery was very highly reviewed and we were excited for our brunch, but were a little disappointed in the end. The place was busy and the wait was around 40 minutes for food,l and 15 for coffee, this was no issue given the food was to be delicious. Unfortunately the food was average, tasty but nothing outstanding. The coffee was hot and tasty, but 15 minutes is quite a wait for a cafe. There were lots of staff but there seemed to be inefficiency somewhere. The food was good, but not outstanding. We had the pancakes which were tasty but there were some raw bits in them, and the Turkish eggs which were well presented and tasty, but not the best I’ve ever had. This eatery has so much potential, and today might have just been an off day, but it needs a little bit if polishing up to convince me of a 5 star rating. (There’s also only one singular toilet for a busy restaurant of >30 diners, this needs fixed)

Great place - super organised and the menu has everything in a boutique style. The take away cabinet is stocked full of delicious sandwiches/buns. Think it's run by a Japanese family - has a feel of the cafes in NISEKO ... GO THERE!

This place is so wonderful! The staff are really polite and friendly, prompt service, nice interior decor, and most importantly, the food taste great! The eggs Benedict is really flavourful, and yet the bread is still nice and crispy. The hot chocolate is one of the best I’ve had! Definitely check this place out if you’re near lake Tekapo!

I highly recommend this brunch place to anyone travelling to Tekapo. Fantastic specialty coffee, delicious food, attentive and efficient staff - what's there to ask more for? We ate here three times during our stay (basically every day :) ) and we couldn't be happier with the choice. There are plenty of options to accommodate different diets (gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian, vegan). My favourite dish was the Turkish eggs. The portions are generous. Overall a great place to have brunch with a great value for money.

Local recommended to go here for breakfast, said it's the best in Tekapo and it did not disappoint! Highly recommend the pancakes. Very large portions, reasonable prices, extremely yummy food. This place is very busy as it's so popular so there may be a wait for food but lady was upfront and told us there may be a longer than 40 minute wait for food. Got our food in 30 minutes so exceeded our expectations. Great service!! Hot chocolate and mocha was great too!

Can get very busy. Saturday morning in August was about a 30 min wait for food. I got the French toast and it was great, though a little drowned in berry juice. The chocolate dessert was good but a little airy inside for my taste.

The greedy cow cafe made us come back wanting for more. We enjoyed their food so much we returned the next day as we only had a few days stay at Lake Tekapo. The cafe is always busy but we managed to find seats. We like their pancakes and french toasts. We had latte, hot chocolate, chai latte and they were really good. Wished our stay was longer so we could try other dishes.

We found this place through the recommendation of the neat place. We ordered 3 things: the greedy breakfast, the avocado toast, and the smokey boomers pie (if im not mistaken). On the side, we ordered latte and mocha. Service was quick and efficient! We came near the lunch time and the place was already packed. Food was on point and it seemed like every component on the plate was well thought out. Love the homemade baked beans. For the avocado toast, the avocado was generous and the micro-greens add additional freshness to the dish. Above all, would come back and would defo recommend to everyone who’s visiting Lake Tekapo!

Without a doubt the best cafe I've been to in New Zealand and one of the best breakfast/brunch establishments I've been to for a while. The bacon + banana pancakes were to die for and I would urge you to get the same. The tender, slightly fried banana, crispy bacon, generous lashings of maple syrup on top of golden cooked pancakes satisfied me greatly and while I'm reluctant to call any food "perfect" this was close. The day after I got the huevos rancheros which while really good, did not live up to the same standards of the day before. The staff were all very polite and friendly, and the cafe itself is pleasantly wooden - clad in it's decor. In NZ in particular there are many overpriced + disappointing cafes. The greedy cow is not one of them. Very well done.

There was a long line when we went around 9am, seems like a popular cafe in town. So much food options. The scrambled egg with prawns, roasted tomatoes and mayo was deeelish!!!!!!! Must try. 5 stars for that 🤌🏼 There’s options for cabinet food too, vegan wraps, pastries etc. Allot some time to line up, wait for food (if not cabinet food) and coffee.

Awesome breakfast & Coffee at The Greedy Cow. Well worth braving the queues and wait for! The Smashed Avo with additional sides was a big portion and worth the price. Recommend popping in if you are nearby or visiting Tekapo!

Love that how a small town like Tekapo produces such amazing places to eat! Service was friendly, efficient, and attentive even though they were busy. the coffee here is good and their breakfast portions sizable and value for money. Bespoke is a great restaurant with a unique atmosphere in Queenstown. It's perfect for brunch, as the dishes are hearty and satisfying. There's also a great selection of sandwiches, cakes, and juices to help boost your energy.
Popular cafe in Queenstown next to iFly and near the Skyline Gondola and Luge. Cooked meals from the menu or choose from the cabinet. They have a Kid's menu as well. Coffee was well made and came out fast. The food was eye candy and tasted great too.

I had high expectations given the location, price and popularity, but found it average. The breakfast plate comes with a shot of vinegar and orange juice (not stated on menu). I like vinegar. This wasn’t very good. At least did not compliment the orange. The chia was tasty, the avo toast nothing special. It felt the cake had more sugar than flour, I couldn't eat it. Looked great, so I was dissapointed.

Awesome breakfast options. Some amazing fresh baked goods. Very busy place. Coffee was great. Smoothies were a treat. Well done to the team.

Great vegan options! Cute little hipster cafe with indoor and outdoor seating and a bike stand for those who have built up an appetite. Had an delicious (and beautifully presented) vegan brunch there - will be back tomorrow! Only negative is it shuts early. They should consider staying open for dinner.

Very good breakfast, coffee, and smoothies! The restaurant is cozy and offers a good amount of outdoor seating as well. Highly recommend the scones, pancakes, and banana smoothie.

I am so happy someone told me about this hidden gem because I never would of walked up this small street ! Honestly I was almost overwhelmed with how good all the food looked I'm the cabinet, I ordered the breakfast plate which was a perfect combination of savoury and sweet. Coffee was quick and beautiful as well. My new favourite Cafe in Queenstown. Big ups to the lovely staff and chef!!!

Exceptional!!! So many vegan options and the buckwheat pancakes with raspberry chia jam, vegan chocolate spread, maple syrup and vegan cream was so decadent and delicious. I researched vegan cafes in Queenstown and this one had a number of great reviews and the cafe definitely did not disappoint. Everyone was so friendly and the fires indoor and outdoor are a huge added bonus during the snowy winter time. Will be returning again and again. Thanks so much ❄️

Everything was delicious! There was a line but it went by fast maybe 5 to 10 min but there are a good amount of options to decide from. There is a menu they hand you while you wait. but I think the best options are in the display case. Your baked goods, sandwiches and other items are here. Get the blueberry scone, mine was so good! Crunchy and soft. The breakfast sandwich was way better then I thought it was going to taste. The frittata and pudding my wife got were amazing too! Staff was super friendly and the food came out quick! I definitely recommend for breakfast or lunch.

The most delicious brunch I've had in a while! I went two days in a row (it was that good). The pancakes were incredible, the eggs and smoked salmon we're delicious and the yoghurt was great! Also their coffee and snacks were also amazing. 5 star food and service!!! Highly recommend :)

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Bespoke Kitchen in Queenstown and tried their Bacon Eggs Benedict. While the dish was delicious, I was a bit disappointed that they were out of spinach and didn't offer a replacement or a discounted price. Nevertheless, the food was still enjoyable and the service was excellent. The staff were friendly, attentive and made the dining experience enjoyable. Although the coffee was average, it was still a nice accompaniment to the meal.

Interesting menu with unique choices. Food was good, especially the vegan Benedict. We're not vegan but gave it a try and we're pleasantly surprised! Great place to have breakfast or brunch as it is a short walk away from the Queenstown skyline/luge.

A great place for brunch. We had the eggs benedict, one portion with salmon and one with bacon. Both really good! The toasted muffin simply melts in your mouth! The flat white was really good and finally I found one in Queenstown that tastes like coffee instead of warm milk with a tiny little splash of coffee👀 It is a bit expensive, but I would love to return here one day for brunch❤️

4.2 | Cool atmosphere, good food, friendly service. Had the breakfast board and a scone. Board toast and chia was delicious, but the scone was rather bland. May try a different pastry type or stick to their warm food. Worth a stop!

Describing the Eichardt's Grille restaurant in Queenstown, New Zealand as a place that brings together fresh fruit and vegetables from Central Otago and Southland, Executive Chef Will Eaglesfield crafts each hand-crafted dish with an aim to spotlight the unique flavours of the region. The restaurant is located in esteemed 5-star luxury hotel Eichardt's and offers an impressive range of dishes spanning salads, sides, chargrilled meats, burgers and much more.
Wow, what an amazing restaurant! The food was of exceptionally high quality, and the service was outstandingly friendly and helpful. Our waiter went above and beyond to assist us in choosing dishes and even took a beautiful sunset photo of us outside the restaurant. The meal itself was simply superb; we had the steak and ordered a dessert of cake and crème brûlée.

A great experience here with a gorgeous view of the mountains and seas. We sat outside and enjoyed the nice weather and fresh air. The food was good so was the atmosphere of the restaurant. Inca, our waitress, is a real asset of the restaurant. She was really friendly and accommodating, making us feel very welcomed.

The service saved this from a 2-star! Venison was left under good lamps too long, seafood chowder has changed recipe and no longer the epic dish it once was, burger had SO much mustard on it (and it was for a kid). Oh and the ceaser salad … well, just look for yourself. Wine was well priced, and the staff were lovely! Honestly, just not worth the cost of the meals unless the kitchen steps their game up.

A fantastic experience for both breakfast and dinner. Even with the limited menu on offer, there was still plenty to choose from and to enjoy. The staff were absolutely fabulous, they were engaging, entertaining and truly made our experience feel unique. What is a holiday without a cheeky breakfast mimosa?

Beautiful location, right on the waterfront in Queenstown. The staff that served me were informative, friendly and continuously kept me updated on when the food might be a bit longer, given it was a busy service. Recommend the scotch fillet with the pepper sauce - yum!

Absolutely outstanding service!! Our waiter was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful when it came to choosing wine and main meals, we had steak, broccolini and potatoes which were all cooked to perfection! And came out in good time. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would 100% recommend! Definitely worth the money!

What an atmosphere! Welcomed for breakky with the biggest smile and warmest of personalities. Had custom made coeliac friendly breakfast with fantastic coffee. Will 100% visit again. Of all breakfast places visited in 3 days, this was the best value for money and had the best view hands down!

Loved the view! Staff are lovely , I was asked what level of spice for my Bloody Mary, asked for 7 /10 and it was perfect, with fresh squeezed tomato juice and trimmings. Minute steak, bernaise sauce, fried egg and potato was perfect..forgot to take photo at start, it was so good !! Great way to start the day!!

High light of our ZQN trip! Food and service was impeccable! Thibault provided amazing service and was friendly and approachable. Cocktails were addictive. Seafood chowder was thick and flavoursome as a seafood chowder should be! Full of seafood and texture. Venison carpaccio was not as gamey as I had expected, but paired nicely with the raspberry. Eye fillet on the bone was a touch over cooked medium rare and would be closer to medium Other eye fillet was perfect and the mushroom pate was just Devine! Desserts were also a highlight. Would return and would highly recommend !

The food was quite simply awful. Look at the pics vs look at the chowder they advertise. The lamb was served cold, very dry and so tough the poor waitress really had her work cut out trying to “pull apart” the $100 lamb shoulder we were served, I’m guessing it was supposed be tender? We literally asked for any type of sauce to make it palatable. The pic attached looks gross, that is better than it was to eat. The mash potatoes were literally just a plain mash in a bowl. Normally there’s be some sort of flavour enhancing spice like salt and pepper, perhaps some truffle oil or something but it was more plain than what your mother makes. I will say there was no lumps so there’s a positive note there. The chowder certainly had no mussels or seafood like the advertisements, it was like a scotch broth in a cheap restaurant - supermarket mornay mix would have been an improvement. Even the bread wasn’t toasted properly. Needless to say we weren’t interested in dessert. Not sure if we were just unlucky or if this is the norm, either way not a great birthday dinner. We managed to sneak back into the Blue Kanu for a tasty meal. There’s better places than this for far cheaper. Pedro’s does a better lamb, so does my BBQ most Sundays. Mess food at military establishments would put this place to shame. Don’t waste your money, there are great and average restaurants that are both better options than this.

After a morning skiing and a walk around we were hungry and thought we would check out this place. Friendly Service saw us seated at a table in the warm with some views of the lake. Food was fantastic, the Duck with Crispy potatoes as a side. Beef Bourguignon pasta was pretty good and recharged us for the day.

The staff here are amazing. During our trip to Queenstown, Eichardt's became the definition of Kiwi hospitality and friendliness to us. Located by the lake with stunning views, the chowder was a standout for us! Their wine selection is also fantastic and carefully highlights some NZ winners, sad I couldn't try them all.

Went here for dinner for my birthday. Was a lovely spot. Greeted with a friendly welcome. We arrived early and our seat was ready. We had a waiter that was in training, Adam. He was a lovely guy and was attentive to our experience. Food took a little long to come out but it was ok, we enjoyed our wine. We got steak frites and eye fillet. Was very tasty. The goose fat potatoes were gorgeous. Little bit on the pricy side. Meal was about $220 for 2 mains sides and bottle wine. Nice treat.

We stopped by for an afternoon drink and weren’t planning to eat. The menu changed my mind! Beautiful view! Wonderful service! Enjoyed oysters and Caesar salad

We stopped by and there was a table for 5 available. I wasn't that hungry but the menu changed my mind! Service: just enough attention and our waitress was very helpful with the wine selection. One member in our party ordered a burger without mustard. It came with mustard and the error was very quickly resolved. The Venison was cooked perfectly and every bite was tender. No gamey flavor. Our group also had the seafood chowder and several sides: broccoli with a spicy peanut sauce, crispy new potatoes and house and Cesar salads. We were happy! This restaurant is a good place for parties of 5-8. There are several large booths. It's also wheelchair accessible. We would eat here again!

French onion soup - This was a good onion soup. The soup base was intense like the French ones but the French were too salty. This one was just right. One thing it can improve, more cheese. Legendary seafood chowder - The name itself was a gimmick. I've had way better chowder from many many places. This was probably one of the more average one. Not saying it's not tasty, but the amount of cream, the thickness, and from all the seafood ingredients, you want to have a balanced but also strong enough to taste the presence of them. Not impressed. Beef bourguignon - Average. The beef were fine but the sauce overwhelmed by red wine, you want to have red wine to compliment the flavor of the beef not the other way around. This one I couldn't taste the flavor of the beef but just wine. The pasta was Al dente👍🏼. Sirloin steak - Great quality. The beef is tender, tasty. The thickness of the steak actually became an issue. The grill steak I had in America is not big by volume but thick as texture. I also preferred stronger grill taste. Normally, you need a very strong grill to char it, locked in the juice and then it'll crisp up on the outside then lower it to grill it to medium rare. Or you can sous vide it to perfect temperature and charred it with strong flame grill. This steak was not grill to crisp, in fact, it was warm when it was served. The peppercorn sauce also underwhelmed. I had to add fresh ground pepper to spike up the flavor. This is a fine dine restaurant, I expected more from it. Otherwise, it's still quality cooking and it's not fair to compare to Michelin stars restaurants.

This was a fantastic meal and restaurant. My partner and I came here for dinner having never been before and we were very impressed. Our waitress, unfortunately I can’t remember her name, she was fantastic. Her passion for providing over and above service really showed. The food was incredible and cooked perfectly with wonderful flavour. We got the Ribeye, duck breast, duck fat potatoes, mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. And if you’re looking for a very good Sauvignon Blanc, I highly recommend the Amisfield. Will definitely be returning when we come to Queeenstown next.

While staying in Queenstown we booked Eichardt's and was quite looking forward to dining there, menu had some great choices and reviews were very positive. Unfortunately our experience was one to remember for all the wrong reasons as the early evening new years eve early menu was a set menu with some menu options we would never choose, obviously focussing on the later evening degustation event. We did mention we were not advised of this set menu and would not have booked if we had know, which resulted in us then been ignored for at least 30 minutes due to this. After advising we where very disappointed with the service they did redeem themselves by a two glasses of bubbles but we left feeling let down not only by the service, but the dishes we did eat just wasn't up to the standard we were expecting for this restaurant. Shame, as they have an awesome looking menu in a fantastic location.
