St. John's Co-Cathedral

Mentioned on
Cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
Valletta's magnificent St. John's Co-Cathedral is a beautiful example of Baroque architecture and is filled with gems including paintings by Michelangelo Caravaggio. The interior was extravagantly decorated in the baroque style by Mattia Preti, and is still an active church today.
Absolutely beautiful architecture in a historic cathedral at the heart of Valetta. We visited today and the €15 ticket is absolutely worth as it funds the upkeep of the attraction (you also get the audio guide included in the price of ticket). The art and the architecture is second only to those cathedrals in Rome and the place is packed with so many artwork and history. Absolutely recommend a visit.
Sanka Illangakoon — Google review
The history and the heart of the Order of Saint John! Absolutely stunning cathedral! Definitely you won't want to miss it! The artwork is incredible! The audioguide will tell the story of the cathedral, believe me it is very exciting! Every chapel worth a separate tour! I love come there!
Maria Sahanjancs — Google review
Very beautiful inside. The floor is amazing. It was crowded with people on a Monday morning. Not too big, less than an hour is enough for a visit. If you don't buy your tickets online you'll need to queue up for entering, so better buy tickets online. If your shoulders are visible they'll give you a sheet to cover them while you are in.
Álvaro Melgarejo Hernández — Google review
A splendid cathedral! ⭐️⭐️⭐️ She is incredibly beautiful! 😲 Of all the cathedrals I have visited to date, it’s the most beautiful to me. 🤩 You absolutely must visit this splendor. 🙏 It’s great baroque art! 👏👏 I absolutely recommend this place! 😉✍️
Emma Alex — Google review
Beautiful Co-Cathedral, the building outside looks simple, but inside is really beautiful, every single detail of it's architecture. Ask for the audio guide in the entrance because is included with the ticket. Try to dedicate at least 1 hour and a half to learn about the history of this building and the participation of the knights. Here you will see one of the Master piece of Caravaggio.
Maura Carola Tangara — Google review
It’s very stunning cathedral that I have seen across Europe. Each chapel has a unique story to tell. And the audio guide is quite detailed. But the problem is at the entrance. Some people are given headphones and some are not given and also spoke to almost rudely! Many like me complained. So the entrance was a disappointment but inside is beautiful 😍
Deepti Mehrotra — Google review
A remarkable cathedral, unique to Valletta, Malta. Its exquisite craftsmanship is truly awe-inspiring. The surrounding neighborhood exudes vibrancy and lively energy. While there is an admission fee, the experience is undeniably worthwhile. We visited this place from the cruise port terminal through walking via a lift that cost 1€ up and down. The walk was about 20 minutes each way.
Kevin Sheu — Google review
A must to visit in Valletta, the entrance fee completely worth it. The colors and details of the architecture inside are gorgeous. An audio guide is included and it’s very nice and helpful to understand the history.
Maxime MONTERDE — Google review
The cathedral is the only place that delights and tells the story of Malta. Really unique, with rich decorations, frescoes, paintings and sculptures. A unique and exceptional place that should be (for me) in the first place. Since August is absolutely drought all over Malta, the views are not very pleasing to the eye. The cathedral definitely pleases the eye, there is one downside, on Wednesday it is too hot, the whole crowd of visitors was wet like in a sauna, fans placed in many places did not cool. 1h hour, with automatic gid (in many languages).
Elena — Google review
It was beautiful inside, with so much art and such amazing architecture. Also, you have to enter dress decently. This means covered shoulders and reasonably long bottoms. There are paintings by Caravaggio that are huge. Don’t forget to look up and down inside, as there is art EVERYWHERE. There is also a crypt and a prayer room. You can only go in the prayer room to pray, the energy is so strong and intense. You are only allowed in to pray, please don’t take any pictures of the praying room, that will mess it up. It was beautiful in this cathedral. Don't miss it when you come to malta.

Stunning inside, simple on the outside. Very worth a visit! Entrance is 15 euros, audio guide included (kids under 12 free). Took about an hour to visit. The detail and artwork inside is incredible! Don’t miss this while in Malta!
Alexandra Pera — Google review
With over 16000s reviews, I don't think I'll add anything new. I would just double-check that the times it opens and work on going to see it. I mistakenly thought it would be open later in the days, so I had to rush in to see the caravaggio (only signed work by the artist... look at the saint's blood). Audio tour is included in the price. Might be in my top three cathedrals (westminster Abby and Sienna Cathedral)
Kathryn Gosciewski — Google review
Amazing. Really impressive. From the outside you would say it is very humble, but once you enter, it is completely baroque. It has so many details. Completely worth the 15 euros for the ticket.
Jaume Ávila Estivill — Google review
nice place, attractive and very interesting to learn history and admire a work of art, but you cannot pay 35 euros per person to see a church, it is something that I will never understand, it is not that the church invites people as if Was it the second house of Christians? because they charge such a price and they don't even offer you a glass of water to at least receive good attention, not even that. After the price of admission, it seems to me that the place is very good, but there are times that the price makes the most of it as well. I would like to return one day and be able to enter and if they charge, it should be a cheap “alms”. in the same way everything is expensive in malta it should be clarified
Tomas — Google review
St. John’s Cathedral is one top 3 highlights of Valletta and Malta for me. Impressive architecture and finishing. Lots of amazing paintings and sculptures. Great way to experience history. I loved the fact that there are audio guides made available for each visitor. The only original painting of Caravaggio with his own hand written signature is there. 😍
Kuba Karlinski — Google review
We are not religious but we appreciate the history and architecture of some churches and Cathedrals. The Cathedral in Valletta is the most spectacular one we have ever been in. It's absolutely stunning and well worth a visit. When you visit you must cover your shoulders and shawls are provided. There is a balcony which gives you an amazing view but there are 45 steps up to it. There is a charge for visitors.
Janice Shand — Google review
We visited Valletta in the middle of summer, august. The city Valletta is very beautiful and charming. A train goes to aquarium, many attractive souvenir stands and off-the-cut performances. I was impressed of Caravaggio‘s artworks in Saint John’s co-cathedral. There’s more to this than meets the eye.
Ryosuke KITAOKA — Google review
An absolutely stunning building. It doesn't matter if you're religious or not, this place is just breathtaking. From sculptures and detail to Caravaggio's art work, there are so many things to look at and admire. As this is a place of worship, please make sure your shoulders are covered. No vests or strappy tops. However, shawls are available.
roderick mckenzie — Google review
Such a magnificent and impressive place. Don’t let the simple façade fool you. Such a great contrast from the outside architecture and inside decorations. The audio guide was also helpful. But the guide arrangements was not very clear and logical to follow. Staffs were very willing to help however. Would strongly recommend when you’re in Malta
Thao Phuong Dao — Google review
One of the must visit places in Malta. It’s one of the nicest cathedrals I have ever been and seen. Entrance is around 12€ for students. You don’t wait long for entrance. Inside is also one chapel dedicated to Caravaggio and his artwork is amazing.
Nastja Prodanic — Google review
The moment I stepped inside, I was awestruck by the sheer opulence. The intricate marble floors, gilded altars, and soaring vaulted ceilings create an atmosphere of reverence and grandeur. But what truly stole my breath away were the two masterpieces by Caravaggio—paintings that seem to transcend time and space. The audio guide is a true asset. It seamlessly weaves historical context and artistic nuances, enriching the visitor's experience. The cathedral can get crowded, especially during peak hours. However, the throng of fellow admirers somehow adds to the sense of shared wonder. Children under 12 can explore this treasure trove for free.
Sergey Vasyagin — Google review
Magnificent cathedral of Maltase order. The entrance is paid but it is really worth a visit despite the elevated entrance fee. Perhaps from outside it doesn't look amazing but inside rich decorations and precious materials have been used which are giving astonishing look to all the interiors. This is definitely a must see in Malta & Valletta.
Katka I. (Kappa) — Google review
Visited as it was recommended. Great if you love religious history and gold. I will say it was lovely and so much detail you can't take it all in. I did find it a little pricy for what it was €15 each. You can do an additional tour for an extra €5 but the tour was every hour or so.
Claire Parker — Google review
I have visited many cathedrals and centres of worship around the world and can honestly say I have never seen one so opulently decorated as St. John's Co-Cathderal in Valetta. The amount of gold guild and the artwork is fantastic and completely overwhelming. I could visit every day for a year and still find something different to see. Astounding.
Graham Patterson — Google review
Beautiful church set in the center of Valletta. The interior is impressive in its opulence with gold pretty much everywhere. However, the most impressive sight is the Caravaggio, reputedly the largest in the world.
Ian Thompson — Google review
It was €57 for our family of 4 to go. Buy tickets in advance on their website to save time in line. The Cathedral is impressive. Be sure to cover shoulders, mid section, and knees before you go otherwise you get a paper scarf to wear.
Earthy Intuitive — Google review
Nice church, worth the visit and the €15 entrance. Audio guide is a bit outdated and long texts, but gives interesting information if you have the patience to listen. The Caravaggio room = amazing, same for the barrel ceiling! Women or people with visible shoulders have to wear a small piece of paper which is super useless and same for the reason being “out of respect” while there are dozens of tourists and it’s clearly made an attraction. But, worth the visit.

Golden Bay

Mentioned on
Beach
Outdoor Activities
This picturesque sandy beach cove with cliffs and shallow water is popular with tourists, and is situated on a bay in the nature reserve Il-Majjistral Nature and History which derives its name from the West Wind that blows here frequently. The blue flag on the beach warns visitors not to light candles only in shallow waters. The waters are crystal clear, calm and hot, with excellent views of the surrounding cliffs and plenty of amenities to make your stay pleasant.
Great place to spend a day. Easy to spend half a day hiking along the beaches (easy, 2/3 hour hike starting from Golden Bay with views of the coast and beaches (and even the island of Gozo) the whole time. Fully in the sun, so plan accordingly and wear your swimsuit so you can easily run into the water of any of the beautiful beaches along the way!! Loved this experience. Pictures are from the hike.

Incredible place. Beautiful color of water, sand and pleasant breeze. Behind this beach there is another beach and a rock. I advise you to go there. There is a free toilet on Golden Bay Beach.
??????? ????????? — Google review
It offers great views and a beach with sand which are not popular in Malta. Stunning. At the end of May the water is pretty cold, just fyi.
Larisa Frandes — Google review
Very beautiful beach not that many people for a Sunday afternoon! Sunbeds 6 euros each and umbrella 4 The restaurant could be better but I mean you don’t go there to have a Gordon Ramsey dinner so 5 star beach
Ra?l — Google review
Nice beach. Easy to access by bus. There are no public showers but you can use the toilet to change.
Vlad Busmachiu — Google review
Beautiful beach. Pretty big and nice soft sand. One of the best beaches in Malta. Our hotel was right next to it, so very convenient. Note it has lots of steps to get down.
Tim Husain — Google review
Beautiful sandy beach a rare find in Malta. Less crowded. Even you can go in october. There were many people even when it was a rainy day.
Outdoor Lover — Google review
Nice little stretch of sandy beach. Sand portion ended at the water and then becomes slippery stones. Clear water and a great view. Nearby cafe and hotel. We did not get to play in the water as there was a huge mass of mauve stinger jellyfish.
Heart — Google review
One of the most beautiful sand beaches in Malta. Highly recommend coming here late afternoon due to there being less people. Probably the most beautiful place to watch a sunset from.
Mateo Stiblo — Google review
One of the very few places in Malta that you can call it a beach 🏖️, and it has it all. A decent car park, toilets, showers 🚿, great sand, coffee shop, restaurant, nice views, a bus stop right around the corner, other shops from where you can get stuff needed to have a proper day relaxing at the beach
Vaan Christian Mogool — Google review
Fantastic beach, shielded by 2 big rock cliffs. Very clear waters and overall it is tidy ! The only recommendation would be a tap or shower to clean off after.
Jack Clargo — Google review
A bit crowded with people (there is a big hotel right next to it) but otherwise a beautiful beach. And you can also quickly walk to Ghajn Tuffieha. Like the kiosk down at the beach, but also the apple restaurant up the hill. Hiking and snorkeling around the area is fun too. :) Perfect for sunsets!
Fritzi — Google review
Beautiful clean beach! It wasn't crowded at all when I was there (February), lots of parking just up the hill. Great place for a sunset, multiple restaurant options, or you can BBQ on the beach yourself with a gas BBQ. There are hiking trails all around, also with amazing views, so definitely make a day of it! The buses aren't very frequent, so you need to be mindful of your time.
Angela A. — Google review
We were at this beach still in winter (last days of winter), and at this time there are practically no structures. There was a volleyball net, an open restaurant and nothing else. The beach was a little dirty (dead seaweed and such) and we stayed there only a short time. Paradise Bay is much better!
Lyndy Luca — Google review
Really awesome place to hang out, it has anything you want for a beach. Panoramic restaurants, beachside stores, cafes and even a hotel for the ones who can afford it.
Zsolt P?ter D?niel — Google review
Lovely Sandy Beach! Waves and wind a bit rough on day we were there. But lifeguards were very good and attentive. Nice few restaurants around!
GD — Google review
Organized beach where you can find a beach bar, sun beds and umbrellas. A bit crowded. The water was relatively clean. The parrots at the sun bed store where a nice touch.

Amazing Very nice and clean beach Golden sand And blue sea Very safe also for the small children Easy access from both parking as well as the radisson Blu hotel There is a shower and towel service for the hotel residents
M Gh (Herrmo) — Google review
The beach was simply beautiful and is one of the largest beaches with golden sand in Malta. Around a 30 minutes drive from the airport with parking available nearby readily for 1 euro per hour. It was not too busy on a Sunday either visiting this beach. I would highly recommend.
Vin Chenzo — Google review
Nice Sandy beach. Takes the golden colour during the golden hour. Very popular among local and tourist.
Chitrita Ghosh — Google review
Nice little sandy beach on the north west side of Malta, I been there January time with temperature just under 20 degree. Windy weather, suitable for surfing opportunity for others
SAID Ahmed — Google review
One of the most beautiful beaches in Malta. The view is superb and tourists are extraordinary.
Durgempudi Sivanagireddy — Google review
Golden bay is one of the few sandy beaches of Malta with Golden sands. It tenders an amazing sunset as it faces westwards and has a small food shack where you can get fries, pizza, coffee and other food and drinks. It is a bit hard to find a parking spot directly there but it is definitely worth a visit. Try going there with a bus or a cab to avoid car parking troubles - but take your time to go there as the buses go there on like an hourly or half hourly basis. Depending on the wind, you can even have a nice surfing experience there - or jelly fish. But all in all, Golden bay is really beautiful
Cyrus Badde — Google review
The place is better than the pictures show. It’s a sandy beach that has a cliff from where you can watch a beautiful sunset and have an amazing view from Riviera beach. It was pretty easy to book an application car to and from there, but you can also go there by buss. Totally worth checking.

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Popeye Village is a fun park located on the Maltese Islands that features rides, food outlets and character appearances from the 1980 musical production Popeye. It has quickly become one of the most popular tourist attractions on the islands, with visitors of all ages coming to enjoy its colorful architecture and various activities.
Really enjoyed the views and energy of all the staff. From the entrance to the post office and restaurant all staff and entertainment were on point! The shows were great for children and the views and relaxing points were perfect for adults! They offer wifi, food and drinks. You can also exit and enter again with your wristband for those iconic shots overlooking the village! A very interesting place to visit!
Ashley .Huffmon — Google review
We took a ride share from Sliema there. Due to strong wings, the water area was closed. We received a small discount on our ticket as consideration and it was appreciated. They have a games and shows schedule for both the main park and the pool area. They have two pools. In the film set you can recognize many places from the Popeye movie, take photos and receive free popcorn and a free post card. Overall we enjoyed our time here.
Nathalie Gil de Rubio — Google review
Beautiful but very crowded. The village has a very pleasant vibe and feel to it. The staff is extremely kind and helpful and they each play a role that was assigned to them and they do it perfectly. I recommend visiting early in the morning to secure your spot, otherwise you might not be able to get it.
Nej M — Google review
Good experience, staff were very friendly and the place itself as a setting is stunning, few of the buildings there is no access but definitely worth a visit. There's really not much to do for adults or not much around it, but you are paying to see an old movie set with a great setting. Tickets were reasonable priced, and u got popcorn, a postcard, and a free drink. There were shows every 30 minutes for the kids. It's definitely worth going to, especially on a nice day for the setting.
Dean — Google review
Really really good. I cannot lie, I was not looking forward to going. But in the end it turned out brilliantly. This is for children, if you don't have children I'm not sure this is for you. As you would expect from something created by Hollywood it looks superb. But that is the half of it. It's not too large, basically a single street, the beach area was roped off. The houses are repurposed, there's a silversmith, face painting, games area, cinema and two cafes. What really makes it is the fabulous cast. Fully engaging with the children...and adults. There was a puppet show, community dancing, egg and spoon race and even film making. The only concerns are the price of food and the toilets I went into seemed too small. There is a gift shop, another cafe at the entrance as well as crazy golf. The cast make this place special, if you have kids, take them, they'll love it. Highly recommended.
Clive Evans — Google review
We had a fabulous time there with the family. Our young children not only enjoyed the village, going through various houses, playing some traditional wooden games but also the different nicely timed shows including Easter parade. No doubt will be other shows during summer. Highly recommend for families.
Cedric — Google review
Popeye Village is a really nice place, the view from the top is amazing. The place is very unique and you can actually observe how much work was put in it. Tips: the village has a lot of activities: you have access to sun beds and umbrellas, you have access to the sea and i saw that the space has a lot of activities in the water for kids. For that is better to come early and take advantage of the benefits. You have access to all of that in the ticket price. Cons: if you just want to visit the place, like I was, the price of 20 Euros for an adult is a little to much, given that in an hour you’ve covered the whole village.
Ioana-Dennis Chelmus — Google review
Really lovely, sweet place! The bay itself is beautiful and the village is really cool and fun, staff were really nice and friendly as well. Good hit of nostalgia if you're familiar with Popeye, but still fun if you don't know it. Roads to get there were a bit complicated, but well worth the visit regardless.

Very quirky place. The bay is beautiful and there are plenty of sun beds available. We chose some that were further away from the beach as it was a bit too loud down there. Otherwise very cool experience, good food and friendly staff.
Susanna M?ller — Google review
This place is a must see in Malta. The tickets cost 22€ per person and can be bought at the entrance. The village was very nice with a lot of activities for both children and adults. What we didn’t know is that it also offers a very good swimming zone with free sun-beds and umbrellas. So bring your swimming suits because we didn’t :))

Popeye Village is a charming and nostalgic attraction in Malta. The colorful buildings and picturesque surroundings make it a delightful spot for families and fans of the classic movie. The friendly atmosphere and fun activities for kids make it a memorable visit. A must-see when in Malta! The swiming spot in front of th village IS Amazing, clear and clean blue water. The jellyfish are not harmful.

Captivating sunny coast enriched by famous sailor character wrapped in an attractive story. Popeye Village crew and the entire staff crafted a gorgeous family visit. It’s a very kids-friendly place and entertaining for the whole family. Dynamic music shows, and audience-engaging acting with amusing interaction are moments we will remember. The village offers a unique and authentic story to walk-through and see more than just behind the scenes. We had an impressive experience during our visit.

Popeye Village needs to be visited, explored and thoroughly enjoyed. Such a beautiful unusual setting here in Anchor Bay. 20 different structures to visit. You can get to live and take part in the remake of the film, choose your costumes, create scenes and in the end, take a copy of the recording back home with you!!! Get a boat ride in the bay. Popeye and the rest of the cast will entertain your kids with educational games. There is a vast water park in summer too. The entertainment for all is endless. A must visit for all visiting our marvelous islands.

Beautiful place. Not an awful lot to see movie wise, but some very cool items in the comic museum. I'd suggest plan for a day out for the beach as the water obsticles are amazing!
Russ Fear — Google review
We visited Popeye Village and our experience was beautiful! I think it is mostly recommended for families and children as there are a lot of things to do and make them happy!! The fee in the cash desk is 22€ per person, no food or drinks included, although you can go by the beach while there are a lot of sunbeds! Unfortunately the sea was not clean but I could not say if this is a due to waves reason or not. In general terms it was a pleasant experience and the guys working in the village were truly friendly and kind!
Elena Kiloudi — Google review
Very nice place to visit, when in Malta. The entrance is 22 eur, which is not cheap, but you can spend the whole day there. Apart from the architecture, there is special program going on every hour, beautiful little beach with clear water, pool and a restaurant. If you're coming by public transport from Valletta, be ready to spend a good amount of time in the bus. But that's just how the transportation in Malta is. No
Barbora Noskov? — Google review
Before I even went to Malta, one of the places I wanted to visit was Popeye Village, and it didn't disappoint me. From the moment we stepped through the gate to when we left, there were all sorts going on. We was first met by Popeye and Olive then we went on a tour guide and the amount of information given was enough for us to find out about how the Village came about so thank you to our guide. There was lots of dancing and the visitors were able to join in, even in the water. We then went off to explore the different buildings and how the music was done. Whilst doing this, we came out to an interactive activity that involved the visitors. There were plenty of sunbeds so you could relax in the sun, and many people were on the floating assault courses and there was lots of cheers for those who succeeded and laughter of those who didn't. The food we had was very nice and there were other activities we didn't manage to get around there is a souvenir shop to buy trinkets from. All in all, I would definitely recommend a visit to here and give yourself a full day to do everything. Thank you to all those involved in keeping Popeye alive. You certainly took me back to my childhood.
Lynda Jowett — Google review
An amazing place to go to! There are some sort of pubs where you can eat/drink inside the Village. The prices are reasonable, expect nothing fancy on the menu. The price to enter the Popeye Village is €16.50. If you go, grab the swimming gear as there are activities for kids and adult every single 2 hours and the water looks cristal clear.
Mike Tapu — Google review
Just too expensive to enter and a little bit too far considering there's not any direct bus line from Valletta. But worth seeing once in a lifetime if you have children who's interested. This village has been built just for filming the 1980. movie purposes and wasn't demolished after that. :)
Domagoj Pavosevic — Google review
It is one of the nicest places in Malta to visit. It’s a lovely set to walk around and specially good for children. I would recommend people at least visit once staff is friendly welcoming and they also offer free popcorn and a postcard. The ticket that I paid was €15 per person.
R B — Google review
Came here today with my wife - we had a really really fantastic time!! The staff and characters are so great and interactive as well, they did some brilliant shows and a great parade as well! I have read a few reviews that people say half of it is closed etc. It is not that bad!! Yes a few places are closed but they are working hard to upgrade the park and you have everything else inside the park which is so well done. Also €15 for a ticket is not bad at all in my opinion. One of the best places in Malta we have been to!! If you have an open mind and take time to look at the small details in this place it really is absolutely superb !! We will 100% re visit one day I am sure! Really excellent!! I really recommend and give 5 stars!!
Alex Baker — Google review
Its a small but cute village. Remind me on Disneyland. (No rides tho). It's an old movie set. You can spend about 1-2 hours there. Nest would be if u combine it with somethin else to plan your day.
Yukikase88 Sato — Google review
We went with zero expectations and had the best day of our trip to Malta! If you have children aged 3-4 years old, this is something you can’t miss. The actors are AMAZING, they interacted with our 3 year-old daughter every time, and she really felt she was hanging out with Popeye, Olive and the rest. The place might look small, but there are enough activities to spend half a day easily: face painting, parade, making your own movie, an Easter egg hunt, old style games, etc. all with the kids in mind. Thank you to all the staff for making such a lovely memory for us!
María Fernández — Google review
Great with younger kids. Or adults with childhood memories of Popeye. 🤣 And there were many! We had a birthday celebration here. Staff of Popeye surprise here on the stage. Around 2 hours or more you can stay here.
Michel H — Google review
One of the nicest place of Malta. It is actually a movie set which was ultimately transformed as a tourist destination. The location is set at a isolated place which make is more mystic. Loved the azure blue water of the ocean. Multiple activities for kids. Vast resources of nature for nature lover. Entry fee is reasonable. Absolutely worth a visit.
Chitrita Ghosh — Google review
I would avoid this place unless you have small children or are, bizarrely, a huge fan of the Robin Williams Popeye movie. My wife and I arrived just after 3pm (we'd read they discounted the price after 3, but they don't...). Parking is available on site or along the side of the road. The actual attraction is in a beautiful setting - waves crashing along the coast of a very picturesque cove. This was the best thing about it. The place is a collection of kitschy displays with mannequins - the bakery, a dentist's chair etc. They are passable. There is a mildly diverting museum about popeye, but it's on the petite side. Throughout the day there are a lot of activities (though they may not run - they didn't do the movie tour when we were there). They are aimed at families/little children, though vary in quality. One of them we saw featured kids taking turns to roll dice while somebody announced the score they got... It's all a bit bad though. Adults walked around bemused at the fact they paid €15 for this place. Even the staff seem aware - there are 3 freebies to try and justify the price. I'd recommend driving up, taking a photo of the village/cove from the top of the cliffs, then leaving.

Great value in location, amenities and staff. Situated in a quiet area of Malta and close to the ferries for Gozo and Blue Lagoon. Excellent breakfast and dinner too thanks to the nice catering and serving staff. Will stay again! You get a better value booking on the hotel’s own website than 3rd party sites like booking.com

We stayed there for 7 days. How can this be a 4 Star Hotel? When you get there, Lounge Looks nice. However, rooms are not equipped with latest stuff. Air condition is Not working properly, you can choose room temp. However, doesn't matter If you choose 5, 15 or 25 degree it will only cool or Heat. The fridge was Not really getting cold. Overall everything was Not in best condition. Mattress was the worst I have ever slept on! Felt Like sleeping on the ground for a Week. But Not the only reason for Bad sleep, since doors do Not Close very well and Walls are really thin, you will hear doors slammed all night Long. Cleaning personnel was also quite lazy, only doing a shallow job. We ate Something on the plates given, and did not change them but rather Put them back with strains on it…. And worst of all, I Hope you don't mind Sharing your room with some cockroaches. Furthermore, don't get fooled by the Photos of the Hotel! The beach is actually directly next to the harbour, you cannot really enjoy swimming there! Pools are ok. Sun beds are all horrible, you cannot change head rest at all. You want to check Out the Sauna? There you go, it Looks Like dumped 10 years ago and will never be switched on at all. Fitness room? Go search for it! There are signs all over the Hotel but you will Not find it, since it is on the Other Side of the Hotel. Table Tennis, where? And regular Tennis and multipurpose court look Like Last maintained 20 years ago. You fancy balanced, healthy and fresh stuff at the breakfast Buffet? No vegetables at all, except I guess whatever was left from the Dinners 2 weeks ago. No Joke, there were moldy tomatoes on the First day…. Coffee and "Fruit" juices are not drinkable. Good that there is a very polite British guest Relations Lady, writing down all our complaints and "forwarding" to the staff, playing down everything we said, to have nothing changed at all in the end. Funny seeing Other guests complain about similar stuff every Other day again …

My stay at Paradise Bay Hotel in Malta was overall satisfactory. While the hotel offers stunning views and excellent room cleaning services, it's worth noting that the property seems to be showing signs of age. The pool, unfortunately, did not meet my expectations in terms of cleanliness. On the positive side, the staff was incredibly helpful and accommodating throughout my stay. The standout feature was the breathtaking view, which added a special touch to the experience. If the hotel invests in updating its facilities, it could greatly enhance the overall guest experience.

My recent stay at Paradise Bay Hotel didn't live up to its supposed four-star rating. Here's why: The food for lunch and dinner was really bad - oily, tasteless, and the place was not clean. We spent a lot of money on meals that weren't worth it. The staff had trouble understanding English, which made things frustrating. It took forever to get simple things done, like clearing the table. The hotel's carpets and furniture were old and dirty. Even the mini-fridge in the room didn't work properly. The people at the front desk weren't friendly and acted like they were better than everyone else. Worst of all, there were cockroaches near the pool area, which freaked me out. The only good things were the warm indoor pool and the view from our room. Overall, I won't be coming back, and I can't recommend this place to anyone. It's not worth the four-star rating it claims to have.

I was torn between a 3 and a 4 but eventually went for the latter. * The accommodation is very cheap both in terms of the meals as well as the room. * The view from the room was awesome, big balcony overlooking the sea. * Food is mediocre, breakfast is a bit better than the other meals but all in all, not very happy with the food choices we had in the buffet. * Most of the facilities were closed - we were there at the end of April. Both the Jacuzzi and the fitness rooms were closed. This should be highlighted in the website as it was one of the main reasons I wanted to book it. * There is no way to indicate that you don't want your room cleaned (unless you talk to the reception I suppose). There is a Do-not-disturb button you can press but that is disabled when you take the card out when leaving the room. There should be a way to indicate that you don't want to have the towels / bedsheets etc, changed.

Although the furniture and the decorations are old, but I am satisfied with the services, the personnel, cleaning, the size of the room, and facilities. The breakfast is ok but could be better. 😉 For the people who like to stay near the center, then this is not a good option. However, with a car would be fine. For me, it was a very good choice. Wish you a nice vacation 🙂

The buffet breakfast was very good, varied and tasty (machine pineapple juice not that much, though), the pool very enjoyable, although I would raise the temperature a couple more degrees in Winter, the dressing rooms were wet all the time, maybe there should be someone from time to time to dry the floor, cos it's very slippery, and the lunch was very good and abundant. The views, excellent! We had a great time!

We live in Malta and wanted a 4 day break, so we booked full board from Monday to Friday. Rooms are comfortable and spacious and the buffet food is really nice. However, there are 2 main drawbacks. 1. The constant noise bashing: loud music at the restaurant, blasting music at the pool,... Good luck if you want a quiet rest or have a nap if you are given a pool facing room. In a hotel room, I usually like to be able to sleep. When using a hotel pool, I usually like not to be imposed someone else choice of music, blasting so loud that I couldn't even listen to my own music through my headphones or have a conversation with other people, never mind having a rest. 2. The pool is sometimes way over chlorinated. When I told the reception they called the technician who said things were normal. No, they definitely are not normal. I went in the pool this morning and when I came out my eyes were burning, really burning. This also happened even worse 2 or 3 years ago in the winter (to the extent that I thought I might have to go to the hospital), and thought maybe it was a one off accident. I was told this morning at reception that maybe I have over sensitive eyes, to which I replied that, first of all I used the pool the day before (with my eyes open as I always do) and none of that happened, secondly I swim every day either in the sea or chlorinated pools and I am more than accustomed to chlorinated pools and that this never happened before apart from in their pool. So, if you don't mind the constant music bashing and the risk of eye burns when using the pool, then this hotel is fine.

Strange hotel… They make you feel like a criminal as you have to pay up front for everything. Towels require a deposit, room charges are non existent (you must create a debit account if you wish to not have to carry your wallet around). Cooling system does not cool the room, just blows the air around. Shower leaks like a sieve, making the bathroom floor a pond. The worst part is the lack of cleanliness near the pools. Between the dirty nappies being left more than 24 hours, the beer cans everywhere and the nonstop thumping music, it is the least appealing place to relax that you have to pay for… My children also didn’t appreciate the hallway of cockroaches on the lower floor when coming back from the beach each evening. Only bright spot was the restaurant across the street, Porto. Good food at good prices and very accommodating. I would recommend stopping there regardless of the stay at the hotel.

I had a great time in Malta, and the hotel was decent. The breakfast's were okay nothing special, good choice of food for the dinners probably wouldn't go for half board next time. What sets this hotel apart is the friendliness of staff they really were smiling all the time and made me feel very welcome. The boat trip to Comino Blue Lagoon is one of the best excursions I've ever been on, I did this trip on 3 consecutive days - Stunning

Okay, so this hotel is kinda hard to give starts - because some is good, some is okay, and some is bad. First the rooms. On the bright side - they were big! There was an amazing seaview. On the other hand, the power in the room had a malfunction sometimes and didn't work. There was noise from the traffic, and quite much noise from the wind hitting the door, which made this horrible squeaky noise. The bathroom was fine, but old. Cleaning was very nice though! The staff was okay, always trying to find a solution. The food! Was good. Simple, but good. Full English every morning, with various coffee, tea and juice. Nice lunch and dinner everyday, and they absolutely know how to cook meat. While we were there, we ate lunch at the beach restaurant on weekdays, which was very nice - great staff! The pools were cold, but we used them anyway. We went outside the season (November) There also was an inside pool, which was hot! But it had a bad smell 😅 Even though there are a lot of negative things, there's also a lot of positive things. We overall had a very nice stay. I could spend a week at this hotel again.

In my opinion it's an awesome 3stars hotel, but a poor 4stars hotel. Room was amazing, clean and shiny, the view was stunning and I really enjoyed my time there on the balcony. The buffet meal was rich but the attention was more on the quantity rather than quality, the K-Lounge restaurant is quite good tho. Indoor pool water was quite cold and forget something like "fitness room" or "gym" as it's definitely not as described

Room 266 only has 3 power outlets (2 250W and 1 220W). The refrigerator will take a week to defrost on its own was the little freezer compartment is a solid block of ice. The beds were not made. Breakfast was a typical British fare but the sausage was over cooked and the milk was warm. The best service came from the bar personnel!

The room was clean and staff was wonderful. Excellent view of GOZO from my room. Very close to excellent diving. Paradise divers is a short walk away. Close to ferry but everything else requires a cab to the cities. I’m looking forward to my next visit as we use this hotel often.

Last-minute reservation for a group of 55 people. The staff provided great assistance and the service was outstanding. They agreed to all of our requests with no problem. A big thank you to Youssef for his excellent customer service and patience. Much gratitude! Paradise Bay is definitely a place we'll choose again in the future. Thank you very much!

To be truly honest , the website pictures are more attractive than the hotel in real life. I was a little disappointed as the room was very standard, old with a bathroom dated early 1900. You gotta get imagination to picture the view on the bay as WE were located on the roof. The hallway was very dirty, i Saw debris on the floor on my arrival and it remained at the same location the day of my departure!! Each Time i went to my room i had to step over suspicious waste on the floor and avoid dirt along the corridor! This is not acceptable. The hotel is more spectacular on the website...the bay is stunning and this is the asset of the hotel.WE could hear people slam the door every Time they leave, this is unbearable If you enjoy quietness and you want to sleep. The food was acceptable nothing more. Honestly WE paid too much for this level of quality. Not sure i will return.

The staff was super friendly and helped you plan your vacation with great advices. Really family-friendly guys and they offer a lot of special events for kids. The Resort itself was unfortunately very poorly cleaned (didn't receive new sheets for a whole week, cockroach in the room, dirty and partially damaged pool area) The Food at the Il-Merill is nothing special, really just to feed the masses. For the same money you can go to Mellieha with the bus and visit a local restaurant.

Paid 50 per person for a day at the pool for a completely underwhelming experience . the hotel website advertises 4 pools including an indoor one which we wanted to use due to the sun. however the ceiling is made of glass so it was like being in a greenhouse, not to mention that it was dirty. Another of the pools was out of order. the main pool was OK though except for when they played party music. though that is par for the course..we noticed a dead cockroach next to a deckchair. The showers and changing rooms need maintenance and better facilities. the buffet lunch was passable but some of the items were frozen stuff you can buy from a supermarket. at the least the view was nice.

The hotel may be getting on in years but I would love to return here. Stunning views of the sea. Extremely friendly staff from the maids to the pool bar and restaurant staff. A very nice guest relations man - Alberto. The hotel has a huge sunny pool, direct access to the sea and across the street a small beach with a „Porto” restaurant with a 20% discount for hotel customers and again - extremely nice service. From here you can easily get to Comino and Gozo as the hotel is next to the ferry terminal.

This hotel is located in an amazing place! It feels like you live in the center of the sea. Staff is very friendly and polite. I recommend all inclusive,as food is more than good. Particularly, there is a huge variety of vegetables, meals and sweets to choose from, every day. This hotel has magnificent view, its very clear and is suitable for couples or families.

The only plus of this hotel is the location and views. The rest of it is to be avoided at all costs. My partner and I booked thinking it would be upmarket, clean and quiet. We were so wrong. Children running around everywhere, the lobby is constantly full of, what can only be described as, heavy drinkers and children on too many E-Numbers. Constantly noisy when you’re in your room, slamming doors and for some reason they decide to put a gym on the 4th floor in the middle of all the rooms. There’s a draft through the room all the time making the doors rattle and the balcony door didn’t even lock! Staff on reception look depressed, not surprisingly as I would be too. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

This hotel is overrated!! Everything is old in the rooms, they don’t deserve 4 stars! Careful when you are paying extra for sea view! We paid extra and instead we got street view and the port, when we asked they said this is sea view but wasn’t as we saw other rooms when someone was cleaning, we also booked double bed but we got twins beds they fix it by covering the beds with a matress topper! The hotel is far away from what you need to visit you can’t go without car. Food is oily and disgusting, they should put a price for quality not quantity! Also the hallways very dirty on the skirting board for 4 stars hotel!! 1 star for the hotel and the staff too as they don’t really try to help to find a way to be good for both sides and only for them! Maybe in the future they will understand to be kind with people cost you 0! We will never come back to this hotel!

The Paradise Bay Resort is nearly at the end of the road leading to the Ferry Terminal. We like this although it does take a bit longer to travel to other places. The hotel has a beach as well as outdoor and indoor swimming pools. The food is good. There is a buffet for all meals but you can also buy food at the bar. Our room is en suite and there is a kettle. The rooms are serviced daily , or not, as you choose. Staff are very helpful and polite.

We stayed in a Junior-Suite Room it has a view of the Sea and the outdoor pool. We've booked a room with breakfast for 6days but from day 1 to 6 the food is still the same. The room is good but a bit outdated, in the bed we only had 1 outlet to charge. We also had a problem with door functions (opening/closing). The staff is not that accommodating. They also do special request; my husband arranged a surprise for me, he booked for my birthday something beforehand.

I enjoyed the stay at this hotel. Great view at the sea, very clean and also room gets cleaned everyday. For breakfast there are lots of foods to chose from and they have evening restaurant as well with nice staff and good food. I liked that thete is an inside gym, salon for women, pool tables and big souvenir shop. The bus stop is exactly accross the street. Thank you Paradise Bay for a lovely holiday. I recommend for anybody who is looking for a relaxing and entertaining stay.

Well the room was nice and comfy with an amazing view the stuff was nice but it was really hard to communicate because they don't have good English. the bed sheets doesn't get changed everyday plus the bed wasn't comfy at all with pillows broken in the middle the food wasn't that bad but it's not a 4 star hotel type of food . In my opinion it doesn't deserve the 4 stars

Museum displaying 46 WWII air-raid shelters in Mellieha, the largest of which can accommodate over 500 people. The shelter features waxwork characters depicting how Maltese took shelter during bombing.
Only 2 other people in here with us and it was lovely and cool. You are left to wander around and it is much larger than you expect. Slightly uneven floor and people over 6ft will need to duck occasionally. Well worth a visit and leaving a donation as it is very cheap.

An excellent experience having never been in a WW2 Air Raid Shelter before. The person taking the money was a 89 year old and remembers the war and using the Shelter. Some of the information in the tunnels was fascinating. 10 out of 10. I would highly recommend a visit.

If you are near in Mellieha or nearby, please view the WW2 Shelters you will not regret it! Cheap admission and a part of history you will not forget, the ticket officer has a wealth of knowledge about the Shelters and is extremely friendly. Can take 1-2 hours to view as the Shelter is huge and runs under alot of Mellieha but such as fantastic experience!

If you are near Mellieha or nearby, please visit the WW2 Shelters you wont regret it! Absolutely amazing experience, hidden gem. Walk beneath Mellieha village through the limestone tunnels, all dug by hand during the war - learn about the gigantic, brave effort Malta played, supporting the UK and the allied forces - very moving. I cant recommend a visit enough 😊👍

Visiting here widened my education about WWII - and the impact on Malta. It was a beautiful walk through with a short film at the end - I felt like I was transported back and I absolutely could feel my eyes welling with water thinking about the conditions Maltese people endured during this time. I would 100% recommend the tickets are just a bit over €2 and you can leave a donation at the end.

The most breathtaking place. Incredible history and resilience of the Maltese people explained and experienced through the visit. It will only take you 20/30 minutes to explore the shelter, but you get a real sense of life during WWII. A must for your visit, and then pop to the Sea View Cafe and Cocktail bar by the church to chat through and reflect on your experiences. A must visit during your stay.
Emily Delgado — Google review
Run by volunteers, a really good experience. You get a little idea of what it was like for the people using the tunnels during the war as air raid shelters.
simon boor — Google review
€2.40 each to explore these air raid shelters from ww2. Artifacts on display the beginning as you enter and then you are straight into the dimly lit tunnels exploring how life was during the bombing. Plaques on the wall give information ad you walk through and some of the 'rooms' are set up to show their function back then. Probably no more than 30 mins to explore the cramped tunnels and rooms but worth it to get a feel of the conditions. Recommend.
Nic Banister — Google review
I didn't go inside on this visit, but I have been inside on other visits to Malta. It's 7 Euros to enter. Inside you will see what is essentially a museum. There are information boards, model mock ups of historical events and plenty of relics to see. There is no guide as such, but the personell there are very knowledge and will answer any questions. Worth a visit for sure

We had an amazing meal here. Despite arriving quite late for lunch and the other dinners finishing their meals and heading out they sat us without fuss. I then had the best octopus dish I have ever had followed by a perfectly cooked cartouche. Wife’s good also delicious seafood. Service was impeccable and the dining room is in a beautiful setting adorned with their numerous awards. It was only when we were leaving did we notice the huge board at the entrance with all their news-clippings. A perfect place for a long lunch or a special dinner.

Probably the best meal of our visit to Malta. We ordered octopus as starter (fairly generous portion!) and duck breast and seafood risotto for mains. I have to say we were really impressed by the octopus, and the duck breast is something we still dream of. So flavourful and perfectly done. Would definitely recommend!!

Great environment and service. Had the octopus for starter and the amberjack steak for main. Both were brilliant! The dressing for octopus was tasty to the last drop. The amberjack was thick and perfectly grilled. Had a complimentary soup which was lovely~ would recommend!

Wonderful experience dining here! Portions were large, which made the prices very fair. I had octopus and the local fish special. The octopus was cooked to perfection! The fish was also nice and tender and flavourful. They brought us limoncello shots on the house at the end! I would recommend coming here for sure! A meal with one starter and two mains cost us around 75 euros. Just one thing, if you're sitting outside beware of the cigarette smoke from the bar next door.

Disappointed but Jan saved the day. We will discuss later. Decor was nice but to use paper napkins in my opinion is a huge mistake. It downgraded the whole experience. As stupid as it sounds, the paper napkins really annoyed me and makes it déclassé. The service was not warm and inviting and needs a lot of training. For example, I dropped my paper napkin and the server said “let me get you a new one”, but never came back. I had to get a napkin off another table. And when I ordered the bottle of wine, the server forgot to bring it over. As the food was coming, I asked where is the wine. The server apologized and said “I forgot.”When you order a bottle of wine, one should also not have to keep pouring your own wine. And when you finish the courses the plates should be removed. Also, the atmosphere was too warm. And now the food review. I felt the food all around was just mediocre. I ordered two fish, one recommended by the server and it was not good. I had one baked and the other grilled but both did not have enough salt. Thankfully, Jan did the right thing and comped the flying fish (do not order). The best dish was the special rabbit stuffed pasta, I thought it was very good. Overall, I was looking forward to this experience but it turned out to be less then expected. In all due respect, if you train the servers and get linen napkins the experience will improve dramatically. The rest depends on the food which I believe has the potential. Sorry for the honesty and I hope the owners take the criticism as a way to improve.

We could not have chosen a better restaurant for our final lunch in Valletta prior to flying out. We had made a reservation online the day before which was fortunate as the restaurant was very busy. The room feels very grand & all the staff that we dealt with were very professional & efficient. We had the most wonderful meal……Starters - Whitebait Fishcakes (delicious) & Rabbit Liver (truly outstanding) & Mains - pasta of day – stuffed shells of pasta with fish & prawns (taste sensation) & the Shellfish Platter à la Palazzo Preca is one of the best seafood dishes we have ever had the pleasure of eating. Wine list was extensive & well priced. Make sure you put this restaurant on your must visit list!

Popped by as I saw the high reviews. The restaurant itself has a beautiful interior with high ceilings. The food was also great. The ravioli was a little disappointing but the vongole was the solid and the dressed raw shrimp were very fresh. They serve complementary starters like bread with an infused butter which I enjoyed. It does contribute to the slightly more expensive pricing but I think it is justified.

The food and service here was excellent! There was so much attention to detail and care put to everything. I dropped my fork and someone came immediately and replaced it. We were often checked up on how our meal was going. We got the: - Insalata ta' Rosario with goat's cheese | maltese sausage | coloured lettuce | olives | capers | sundried tomatoes - Spaghetti Seafood - Linguini Caruso Classic - Item from the special menu that had hake like fish steamed with prawns, clams and mussels to share - Hazelnut eclair and Panne Cotta for desserts Wish we got the sea bass instead since the fish had very little flavor by itself. Overall, the service and experience were fantastic and we were really care for the entire time.

I found the food to be good....not great. The Fish Soup, Charred Octopus and the Mushrooms were all three in the same contents (brown sauce)...the the soup might have had cooking sherry in it and the octopus may have had turn dried tomatoes....but I found the chef wasn't really putting out his best with 3 identical sauce bases. The restaurant was clean, the service was very friendly though a bit confusing having 6+ waiters for a few appetizers....the quality of the ingredients was freshest I've from a restaurant....well chosen produce. 5 appetizers only 3 bar drinks $156.00 Euro....I didn't feel the best value for this type of money; but it was my first night in Malta and maybe I will be proven wrong...I'm not interested in a bar that sells food...if this classic restaurant is my only option...I'll be shocked. I will definitely try this place again...my idea was to try many appetizers...their menu was quite extensive. We did have a special server from Colombia with a nice smile and was very kind (she took our evening from good to great!!!)...don't get me wrong they were all kind and very cordial...it was just so many different persons for just the two of us and it made it quite confusing ordering our 2nd rounds of drinks. I look forward to trying their menu again and cross my fingers Malta has other options to try. I'm still happy I found this restaurant.

Excellent local Maltese restaurant serving an array of traditional dishes. The decor is beautiful and the staff are friendly. It’s a great spot for lunch and very reasonably priced. Pay attention to the level of service charge that they apply to the bill if paying by card as it was applied by the staff before I saw the bill and had to change it.

It was the first restaurant we visited during our stay in Malta and, oh my, what a fantastic experience that was! Each meal and drink that we ordered was delicious, and the service was excellent. We were also welcomed with tasty starters and then served some limoncello for a goodbye. Everything was perfect, thank you!

The food was ok but a bit overpriced, in my opinion. After a few days of roaming around Malta, we discovered terrific restaurants with more excellent quality and better prices. So I feel that this place since it's so centrally located in Valetta, it's a tourist trap. The service was good, as mentioned, food was ok, but I wouldn't recommend this place. I would try to search for other areas.

Lovely place for lunch! The prawns were super fresh, juicy and the right amount of sweetness. The duck was equally as tasty, served with seasoned vegetables and potatoes. Cocktails weren't the best, but you're not going to visit for the cocktails! Nice wine selection and half bottle options too. Worth a visit!

Very beautiful and traditional Maltese restaurant. I find these places very magical that reminisce about a different period in time. The charred octopus was really delicious, the sauce was really amazing and the octopus cooked on point. The oyster sauce felt a bit flat. The mains weren't bad and pricing was relatively reasonable to this restaurant level. All this being said, it is not wow either! The only thing we didn't appreciate was being sneakily forced to leave a level of tip without asking us if we were okay with it first. That's really not on and feels really cheeky.

Rampila is an amazing mediterranean restaurant located in the historic and iconic bastions of the capital city, Valletta. It offers a unique experience where history and luxury intertwine. The menu features Maltese, Mediterranean and International cuisines prepared in creative and tempting ways, making it a perfect spot for a beautiful lunch or dinner. Whether you want to enjoy a peaceful meal with friends or spoil yourself in a high-end cuisine, Rampila is definitely worth trying out!
Highly recommended. Within the medieval walls of Valletta, this restaurant provides great atmosphere and great Mediterranean food. It gets very busy, however it is open throughout the day (which is a great plus for late lunches/ early dinners); Pro Tip: fish is delivered daily and its locally sourced. Best item in the menu Pro Tip 2: try to book the "secret" terrace for a superior atmosphere.

Rampila was recommended by a few friends of mine who had dined here previously because of the great food and interesting location. Despite the terrace being closed when I visited, dinner in the tunnel was a cool experience. I loved how bits of ceiling fall onto your table while you're sitting there. I had goat cheese wrapped in a filo dough and salad for my starter and the braised rabbit for my main course, both of which were delicious, but the rabbit was a bit tough eating with the bones. The staff was very, very nice, but I was a bit confused as why I was the only person dining there from about 5 pm to 6:30. It was a little awkward with the staff shuffling around me, but overall still a restaurant I recommend.

Exceptional restaurant. Was exploring Valleta by night with my partner and as we were walking across the city gate bridge and we noticed this cute patio filled with people dining. Of course I made sure to find the entrance and dine there. Typically you’ll need a reservation but they comfortably sat my partner and I since it was fairly late (9:30pm) and I’m so glad they did. This place has so much history! They sat us at the outdoor patio and it was delightful. The staff is incredibly kind and attentive and the food was delicious. Can’t forget to mention their wine selection which offers a variety of wines from Malta, Italy, France.. We ordered the pan fried calamari, crab and lobster ravioli, the duck and to end the night a delicious tiramisu. Highly recommend you come here if you’re visiting the city!

It was tough to choose between dining in the atmospheric tunnel, or outside nestled among the battlements. It was a nice day out so we opted for the latter, but you certainly can't go wrong with the setting here, and the food was delicious to match! Especially enjoyed the paccheri (perfectly cooked) and the rabbit! One of our favorite meals in Malta. Loved this place!

The place is perfect for the large groups ( also for couples) We where 14 person and had a dinner in a private dining room. Stuff super nice and the service was perfect! The food is also super good. The rabbit plate is big so be careful with the starters :) better go for the dessert.

If you’re looking for a restaurant in Valletta that has atmosphere, amazing food and exceptional service this is the one. This restaurant has a beautiful terrace and a stunning indoor dining area, it also has its own museum which is cute. I ordered the beef carpaccio and mussels and my husband ordered the special lobster fettuccine. All dishes were amazing and the staff were super friendly and attentive. Highly recommend this for a special night out.

My word, there are some strange and clearly deluded people who've been here recently. To not leave 5 stars would be a crime. The waiting staff were warm and welcoming. A pleasure to engage with. We were surged by a young Macedonian who was courteous and friendly. On the specials, there was a varied mix of dishes, but he toasted brie was to die for. All of our mains were perfectly crafted and a delight. I'd recommend arriving early for a table in June, but take your chances otherwise. This may not be here for many more years according to the staff, that will be a real shame. Try it, before it's gone.

From start until finish everything was perfect about this restaurant! Its located right at the entrance of valletta city in a historical location. The service is super polite and excellent. The warm bread with olive oil, the burrata salads and especially the Kalamari were the best we ever had!!! All the main dishes were also very fresh, delicious and beautifully served. The terrasse is so pretty and i‘d recommend everyone to try the sweet and fruity moscato wine! 5/5 recommend this place, reserve a table in advance

The place is absolutely fantastic, the tunnel, and the terrace are really peaceful and have a great feel. The staff was very welcoming and nice, we had a great time there! While choosing the wine, we were offered to actually taste 2 different ones so we could pick our favourite. The portions are generous and very savoury. The waitress brought us blankets when it got a bit chilly, nice attention.

After walking around all morning, we randomly found this restaurant on our way back to our hotel. The entrance was a set of tiny stairs going to what looks like a wine cellar. We were greeted by the staff and they took us to the terrace, which has such a great view. The food was amazing, service was great. 10/10

Very nice and friendly staff, cute and private terrace with view to the city gate Bridge which gave you a nice and cozy feeling. We shared a fish seaford soup as appetizer and Maltese rabbit and Supreme chicken as main course. All dishes are very tasty, the rabbit meat portion is very big, slightly dry and the sauce is super tasty - not overly sweet even though it has dates and raisin in.

For an intimate dinner with a beautiful terrace in La Valette, that’s the spot ! Cuisine is well presented and good, price are affordable and they got a good selection of wine. Thanks to our waitress that made the dinner more unique !

The view across the ramparts was impressive. A light lunch so decided on the parfait whilst my brother had the tagliatelle. I think this would have a different vibe at night just didn’t hit the spot. Next time I’ll try an evening meal.

We want there by advise from our guide and tasted wonderful dishes. Plus there is a outstanding scenery at their garden. Food was wonderful, atmosphere also, prices are reasonable. This place is exceptional and truly advise not to miss it.

The food and the service were so good, that I ate there 4 nights in a row. The terrace, the good music and the view just make it even better. I highly reccommend it.
Sigrid Vultur — Google review
Restaurant was in a beautiful spot and the staff were welcoming and lovely. The food was really good, calamari was delicious and cooked nicely. We had rabbit which was a good portion very tasty, and the sauce was particularly good. Seabass cooked nicely, seasoned well. The only feedback was the veg had no seasoning at all and didn't taste of anything, which was not in keeping with the rest of the food. .. An easy way to make the dishes even better!

We went to this restaurant twice during a recent holiday in Malta. What a great place. There is outside dining on a terrace but we eat inside as we hadn't booked. The food was fantastic especially the Rib Eye Steak and Sea Bass. Service was very friendly and laid back, no rushing you. We would both highly recommend this restaurant for a visit.

Food was very nice and service excellent, sat indoors but outside terrace also looked nice. Ideally book but we were lucky to get a table on a Friday night.

Rampila provides an amazing outside terrace and also the indoor area is really breathtaking! The attention to detail in both atmosphere and cuisine likely made my mom's birthday memorable. But make sure to book a table in advance cause it gets really busy.

The location and atmosphere were breathtaking, resembling a cave. Unsure about Maltese cuisine, I was pleasantly surprised. My husband enjoyed the well-seasoned rabbit, and our dessert was very good.

They have a foreign waiter who can speak Maltese. This is excellent, but please encourage him to interact with Maltese clients in Maltese! And to not keep this to himself. It is wonderful to hire foreigners who can speak our language. The restaurant's interior is beautiful, and deserves consideration just for this. They also cater for large groups. We were quite noisy at times, but they didn't interfere and let us be, which we appreciate. My biggest criticism lies with the portions. One of us ordered the same steak, but as you can see from the photo, was different in size. This isn't a cheap restaurant. Indeed, prices found online do not match the more expensive prices inside. At least, I do not want to leave the restaurant still feeling hungry. The food itself otherwise tastes great, no complaints there. I give service 3 stars because when we complained about the size of the smaller steak, one of the waiters (not the Maltese speaking one) feigned ignorance and brushed off our concerns walking off. Service was also not given with a smile until we engaged in conversation with the waiters later in the evening. One of us was out of cigarettes, and the Maltese speaker did give him one himself, which was sweet. High highs and low lows in this area.

I had seafood soup. It was not a flavor I wish to revisit. The shellfish didn't open during cooking and was almost impossible to eat. Someone in our party ordered lobster and clam? Pasta. They didn't like it. Meal was served with four rolls which while crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, had a bland flavor. The atmosphere was romantic and would be a good place to bring a date
Patsy Gredvig — Google review
Great location inside the fortress entrance of Valetta. It is one of the few places that is open between 3-6pm so for me this is a plus. We got some pasta and the steak from the days menu. The pasta was very taste and we ordered the fish, pork and beef pasta so we took quite a few options to try on. I got the stake and unfortunately it was extra seasoned with salt which made me not enjoyed it. I think it is a bit pricey for a place but the atmosphere and the service is exceptional. Kudos for also being opened almost all day long.

AVOID THE PLACE. Never had to write a review before but it was beyond everything i've seen in my life. The girl at front desk didn't make us feel welcome at all when we arrived. We quickly realised that it was more than just a feeling when sat at the' worst table... no view, and not even a working light bulb... the place wasn't full... We ordered a whole fish, my wife had to cut and serve it herself (happy birthday to her !) Not sure we can blame the waiter for this, he might haven't seen the fish arrived since remember : NO LIGHT ! KIND ADVICE : If you want to pretend to high standing, don't hire a girl with attitude that have a lipfiller budget but can't afford invisible underwear... It's a bit... odd Food was OK, but you can have the same almost everywhere on the island with a free smile and for half the price.

Tried Sole for the first time, and left very impressed. They start with a starter of their own (it was a liquid olive in its own type of casing)...delicious...and some very fresh bread. The menu also offers a lot of dishes - focused overall on fresh fish...but also has options such as chicken or meat. The starters and mains were delicious, and the staff were very attentive and professional. Would definitely come again! (A plus: the view is lovely as it is situated near the Sea)

The overall experience at this restaurant was somewhat disappointing. While the tartare and dessert where excellent, many others lacked flavor due to insufficient seasoning, and the fish had numerous bones. The service, though friendly, was marred by inconsistent pacing between courses, with long waits between some dishes and others arriving simultaneously. We had to wait Sometimes over 40 minutes between Dishes. Empty Glasses weren't noticed for a long time. Portion sizes were generally small, necessitating sharing for most dishes, except for the ravioli and main course. Additionally, we received the wrong dish multiple times. Despite the hefty price tag of over 200€ for two Valentine's Day menus and a bottle of wine, the quality of service and food did not meet expectations. The only standout was the ambiance, offering a stunning view. We are really disappointed by the experience and wouldn't recommend the restaurant.

The bistro D'Office Bistro is a delicious and affordable restaurant with attentive staff. The decor and ambience are lovely, and the food is some of the best in Malta.
I've eaten at this restaurant about 3 times and always have a pleasant experience. Bledder and Brandon were very friendly and helpful with our questions. We ordered the rabbit stew, D'office risotto, and mussels which were all great. I also had a Capuccino which was exceptionally good since the waiter is also a barista. I would definitely come back to this restaurant the next time i visit Valletta.

Although I arrived after 10 p.m. and was alone, the staff quickly offered me a table. They kindly allowed me to charge my spare phone battery while dining and when I mentioned that my table was a little dark, quickly brought me a candle to brighten it up. Started with a glass of local white wine. Very nice and refreshing. My starter was the Fried Maltese Goat cheese with cranberry sauce and it was delicious. My main was the vegetarian eggplant parmigiana: also very tasty, although part of the eggplant seemed a bit undercooked (I know how hard it is to get that right!). During my meal, I had the pleasure of enjoying the live jazz wafting over from the nearby Babel café. All in all, a very pleasant experience!

Looks nice from outside, but don't expect a food experience here. It is very simple food and same service, both are meant for a fast table turnover. The feeling was that we are at the food factory and are always on the waiters' way. Nothing was really wrong and yet it's left a sad feeling. With putting more focus in to guest-centred training (comfort and attention to their guests)D'Office can significantly improve it's rating.
Maria Sahanjancs — Google review
As someone who prides themselves on their discerning palate, I was excited to visit D' Office Bistro based on their previous reviews. However, I must say that my experience was nothing short of appalling. Let's start with the mussels pot. I was expecting a delectable seafood feast served in a pot, but what I received was a sad excuse for a dish with tiny, unsatisfying mussels. The octopus was similarly disappointing, lacking any of the freshness that one would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. And don't even get me started on the salmon and shrimp penne. I don't know who was manning the salt shaker in the kitchen, but they must have had a vendetta against our taste buds. The dish was so oversalted that it was nearly inedible. The icing on the cake? The tea, which tasted like it had been boiled in tap water. I don't know about you, but I don't like my peppermint tea to taste like I'm sipping on seawater. To add insult to injury, our server who helped us with the bill was far from polite. It's a shame, really, because the first server who took our order was quite nice and friendly. I'm not sure what happened to them in the interim. I can't help but wonder what those Google Maps reviewers were thinking. This was easily the worst restaurant I've had the misfortune of trying in Valletta. The only redeeming quality was the dining environment, which was quite cozy and had a pleasant vibe. But let's be real, if I wanted to eat in a nice atmosphere without decent food, I'd go to a café instead. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this place at all costs.

This place is worth visiting more for its romantic and holiday atmosphere than for the food, which I found quite average, especially the tomato sauce and ricotta ravioli. The wine was okay, but nothing memorable. I would recommend it for a couple of drinks to relax and enjoy the scenery.

A very unique restaurant. Large vintage collections inside. Lovely menu. Outside and inside sitting. My smoked salmon and shrimp salad was delicious, with asparagus, fresh shrimps, smoked salmon, spinach, black olives and tomatoes. My husband had garganelli salmon and shrimp pasta, which was good but rather a small portion, for a main course, by Maltese standards. Daniel, our waiter was very helpful, kind and professional.

Totally happy based on our 3 visits over 4 days, engagement with staff was totally positive based on ‘reading the room’. Pasta dishes and risotto were at least as good as mainland Italy, pacheri carbonara shavings of parmigiana and pistachio crumbs, gitarra seafood pasta including whole grilled prawns and shelled baby prawns , succulent marinated slow cooked ribs were melt in mouth, braised rabbit sensational flavors , todays treats included a draught beer and sparkling water icy cold , recommend 👍👍

The restaurant is absolutely amazing! You'll love the food - it's so delicious! Be sure to try the penne with chicken, ham and mushrooms and the calamari fritti - they're both highly recommended. What's really great is that it's also kid-friendly, and if you happen to get a bit chilly, they offer blankets to keep you warm and cozy.

This place is named : CAFÉ WINE BAR BISTRO You can sit inside or outside on the terrace. Even here you sit protected when it is raining or when the weather is bad. We were sitting inside very comfortable. The Bar is offering plenty of different spirits and wines. The service was fast and friendly. This Bar has very fair prices! For a glass of white wine I got charged with 4,50 € and one Espresso was charged with 2 €. The clean toilet is upstairs! I can highly recommend this Bar with BISTRO. Scammy restaurant without menu. Not even for the standard items like drinks. Seems they could charge whatever price they want. When we got the final bill, it was only one amount 100 EUR and no breakdown. We had to ask them for it which at first they refused. Prices are much higher than a normal Maltese restaurant when they are not a fine dining restaurant. 5 EUR for a bottle of water, 10 EUR for 2 coffee + 1 tea, 10 EUR for 4 cannoli are really excessive for Malta standards… remember to ask for prices before ordering. Seafood pasta was 20 EUR per person - on the high side but taste was ok.

We booked nearly 2 months ago and then about 3 hours before we were meant to go for lunch they emailed to cancel, saying they were full! This also happened exactly the same for friends who'd tried previously. Food may be great, (who knows), but don't rely on your reservation. Terrible customer service!
Dean Barnard — Google review
One of the worst places I've ever been. Made to wait outside for half an hour past our booking time with no explanation as to what was going on - kept being told 5 minutes, but it never was. The atmosphere was very noisy throughout and the staff were relatively rude the whole lunch. They do seem to choose prices arbitrarily so ask for the price of a meal before. There is no menu, they just ask you what you want, then act confused when you ask what's available. The food itself was slightly better than average. Not remotely close to compensating for the time wasted in the heat or the service. Later it transpired they had sent us an email in the morning cancelling our booking, but I guess they were so disorganised they didn't realise. I've seen this on other reviews too. I get the feeling locals who are friends with the owners love this place, whereas tourists could end up getting their booking cancelled, or worse, have to come and experience this place. Don't waste your time.

First time in Malta and we’re not Italian decent, we’re Canadian so there are nuances with a different culture but people are people and when you see everyone (customers and staff) having a great, fun time, you know you will be well served. The place does have a raucous atmosphere, don’t go there for a quiet meal, but you WILL have a great time. Very popular and reservations are required. No menu but the food is super fresh and excellent, just take what they give you. They will treat you like family so don’t over think this, just call a reserve a spot. Great hospitality, real and authentic experience such that we booked a second lunch before we left Malta. I’d almost fly back to Malta from Canada for a weekend just to go back to this restaurant.

Fabulous rustic dining experience in Valletta. Booking a table in advance is a must. Rubbing elbows with who is who in Valletta is a given. Service is simple, yet friendly. A menu does not exist and daily specials are communicated verbally. Ask for prices before ordering. Same goes for ordering wine. Lunch for three including a bottle of imported wine, dessert, coffee and a shot of limoncello sets you back 120 Euros.
