The monastery Monasterio de San Juan de los Reyes is a 15th-century Franciscan church built in the style of Elizabethan Gothic in honor of Prince John during the reign of Isabella and Ferdinand II of Aragon. It features ornate two-tiered cloisters, now run by Franciscans.
Must visit if you're in Toledo. The ticket are cheap and can be brought at the door. You can easily spend about 45 mins - 60 mins here.

Gorgeous 15th century gothic architecture! I would recommend purchasing a €12 wrist band that includes entry to all 7 biggest sights in Toledo. This building has 2 tiers however, it’s very big so I would recommend visiting it at its opening hours to avoid tourists and visitors so you can take beautiful pictures.
Julia SH — Google review
The price to visit is around 4€. It is worth it because the architecture is unique, and it’s a nice place to hide from the sun during the afternoon.

The Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes in Toledo is an Isabelline style Franciscan monastery built by Isabella I of Castile (1477–1504). It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The monastery was founded in 1477 by Isabella I of Castile and Fernando II of Aragon to commemorate the victory at the Battle of Toro. It was dedicated to Saint John the Evangelist for use by Franciscan friars. The monastery is a masterpiece of Isabelline architecture, a style that combines Gothic and Mudéjar elements. The church has a single nave with a stellar vault. The cloister is Mudéjar in style, with a beautiful ceiling on the second floor. The monastery was badly damaged by Napoleon's troops during their occupation of Toledo in 1809. It was restored in the 19th century and is now open to the public. Here are some interesting facts about the Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes: * The monastery was originally intended to be the burial place of Isabella and Fernando, but they were eventually buried in the Royal Chapel of Granada. * The monastery's church contains the tomb of Prince Juan, the only son of Isabella and Fernando who died in childhood. * The monastery's cloister is home to a collection of Mudéjar tiles, which are some of the finest examples of this type of tilework in Spain. * The monastery is a popular tourist destination and is open to the public for tours. Would you like to know more about the Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes? * Construction and Architectural Style: Construction began in 1477 under the supervision of architect Juan Guas and was completed in 1504. The Isabelline style prominently features Gothic elements with intricate tracery and ribbed vaults, alongside Mudéjar influences like geometric patterns and horseshoe arches. * Highlights: The main church stuns visitors with its stellar vault and richly decorated main chapel. The cloister, a tranquil haven, offers a beautiful example of Mudéjar ceilings with intricate designs. Look for the symbolic chains on the facade, commemorating Christian captives freed by the Catholic Monarchs. * Visiting the Monastery: The monastery is open to the public for guided tours. Ticket prices vary starting at 4€. It's generally open year-round, except for December 25th and January 1st. Hours differ between winter and summer months, so it's recommended to check their official website for current information.

A pleasant monastery but nothing exceptional. The main church was OK but we saw a great many that were better. The cloisters, usually a good feature of monasteries was ornate but quite small. One when passing not to seek out. More impressive lit up at night, but you can't enter then.
Amine Touil — Google review
Excellent free audio guide, QR code available right inside the cloisters. I didn't work for a few of the commentaries, but the ones I heard were interesting an enjoyable. The cloisters and church are full of beautiful details, well worth a look.

It's a good experience, worth 4€ to entry, you can see the architecture they used to build this monastery. Really enjoyed!!!

Having seen where los reyes católicos are buried in Granada, it was great to see this monastery where theyight have been buried had they not completed the conquest of Spain. It's a very beautiful building even without Ferdinand and Isabella.

A very impressive, large building with the ornate architecture. I expected to see more exhibits or information inside - althought the audio guide is very comprehensive, it can be a bit long at times. €4 standard entry. Nice that it's open on Mondays when many other places are closed.

Loved the gothic architecture, Spanish tiles and orange trees! This is such a charming monastery hidden away in Toledo. Come for the beautiful ceiling arches and the orange trees in the courtyard! Note: Visit prior to COVID, so things may have changed.

The Toledo Cathedral is a magnificent cathedral in the city of Toledo, Spain. It was built over a period of more than 250 years and it is one of the most famous and important cathedrals in Spain. The cathedral is dedicated to Saint Mary and it features some Mudejar features. It is widely considered to be one of the best examples of High Gothic architecture in Spain.
So much to see and meander through the town. The beauty is literally everywhere...I love that they preserved so much of this town and so many hidden gems of tapas eateries. I could have spent days exploring unfortunately we only had half a day.
Danielle Buhrfiend — Google review
This is a beautiful cathedral in Toledo and well worth a visit. Entry is €10 and includes a audio guide (tickets are available in the shop opposite the cathedral entrance). It's a typical cathedral with grotesque wealth of the church on display, lots of religious art and paintings. There's a lot more to see than I expected too so not bad value for the cost.
Adam — Google review
No doubts, one of the most beautiful cathedral churches in the world, I’m too stunned to even speak and be able to describe the church because I think the photo or my word can’t do justice on how amazing and beautiful the sculpture/artwork is. It is definitely worth every penny to go into the church to explore and learn about it’s history.

Such details. It's actually a historical museum rich in art, religion, and culture. Ana, our guide, was very energetic, engaging and informative. Highly recommended. Restroom is located outside. It is dirty. Plan accordingly. :(

This place is incredible! The cathedral itself is huge and took centuries to make. Every corner is ornate and beautifully crafted. Make sure to visit the art exhibits in the back, which feature many El Greco paintings.

An amazing building inside the gates of the old castle. You need a whole day to see all of the historic buildings, shops and restaurants. There is also many Hotels inside the gates. You can buy a bracelet for 12€, that gives you unlimited visits to all the attractions. Each attraction is 4-9 € alone.

Beautiful Catholic Cathedral in the Gorgeous old town of Toledo. Unfortunately, the cathedral was closed due to restoration work being done (October 2021). Very impressive architecture with thousands of years of history, and the actual size is huge. The cost to visit inside the cathedral we were informed it is £10 euros. I will definitely go back when it is open to the public but also because the old town of Toledo is such a historic and amazing place, totally worth visiting 💯💗✅

This place was worth visiting for 10 euros. The self paced audio tour helps you understand the significance behind specific areas of the cathedral. I would easily budget an hour in this cathedral. Gets pretty crowded on Saturdays.

An incredibly beautiful cathedral, certainly one of the best I have ever visited throughout Europe. The interior detail is stunning and the architectural use of light and space is especially significant. The alter and the rear of the altar were almost too much to fully appreciate in one visit.

This cathedral makes the visit to Taledo a must. Don’t miss it. An easy train ride from Madrid and then taxi up the hill. The art work is beyond impressive and best seen in person. Plan to spend at least 2-3 hours here. The tickets are reasonable and audio guide is free and HIGHLY recommended.

Too staggering to put into words. I have only visited Madrid and Toledo, but I cannot imagine any other Christian religious site in Spain that better displays the national heritage of the country's spiritual devotion than this one cathedral. You could spend weeks in here learning the art, history, architecture...

I visited this Cathedral in June and stunning in all facets. I was amazed by its history and it is one of the most impressive Gothic cathedrals I have ever seen. The main facade is impressive, with portals decorated with sculptures and paintings. The interior is spacious and there is much light, with many stained glass windows, paintings, and sculptures to enjoy while walking through. The cathedral happens to be a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

This is one of the most consequential Catholic Cathedrals in Spain. You have to be there to witness the history and the greatness of this Basilica. This is the place I’d say no picture could do its justice. It’s so breathtaking and magnificent. It’s a must visit in Toledo. The Sinagoga de Santa María La Blanca is an ancient synagogue that was built back in 1180 and still stands today. It's a fascinating place to explore Toledo's rich Jewish heritage, with its beautiful horseshoe-shaped arches.
This mosque-looking construction, which was built as a synagogue is well worth the visit! How bright the interior white columns are making the inside. The pillars which widespread and the niches to pray in golden at one side. But already the outside is attracting visitors to the premises. The entrance fee is fair and included in the Toledo wristband, which counts for numerous other sights as well. Groups can be accommodated and overall, I recommend a licensed tourist guide for the visit of the whole city of Toledo.
Sarah Janning-Picker — Google review
One of the most singular interiors I have ever experienced. Is it a mosque? Wait, it's Catholic Church with sublime Moorish design? I'm so confused? Don't be! Just be amazed and enjoy the sublime, calming beauty of this architectural wonder that began life as a synagogue. It's a dazzling jewel, a fever dream of light and lightness, a place to contemplate and rejoice. One of Toledo's most beautiful sites, don't miss it.
howard mcfarland — Google review
Excellently preserved and beautiful example of a house of worship at the crossroads of 3 religions and cultures. The history of how it went from a Jewish synagogue constructed with Moorish influences then converted to a Christian church after the Jews were driven from Toledo was fascinating yet told the tale of discrimination and suffering. The architectural details inside are beautiful and I enjoyed my visit very much.
Gary Rogers — Google review
A rich history and captivating architecture. As a synagogue turned church, one can appreciate the cultural significance of this site. Strong Moorish influence, horseshoe arches and geometric patterns, a real journey through time. It is a bit crowded but generally it is easily accessible.

After a visit to Toledo I would thoroughly recommend buying a book by María Rosa Menocal … “Ornament of the World”. It puts into context the entire landscape of Christian, Moslem and Jewish communities which existed in Andalusia in the years from 750 to 1492. It is well worth adding to your shopping bag along with one of the wonderful guide books, or picture books which can be purchased locally or on-line.
Colin McHattie — Google review
A Muslim temple, synagogue and then Christian church. Understated, but so much history in here, in the building the architecture, the design motifs. One of the more interesting religious sites here.
alex bonick — Google review
Lovely building with so much history. Beautiful architecture and unusual, it's been used by various religions over the centuries. Can visit using the Toledo pass for all museums.
Tim Husain — Google review
There's not much to this Synagogue. What you see in the Google maps photos is all there is to it. Just one big empty room with moorish arches. If you've already purchased the tourist band then fine. Otherwise I'd recommend spending your 3 Euros at the Monasterio de San Juan just along the road which is much more interesting.
Tom Scott — Google review
The name of Sinagoga de Santa María La Blanca is somewhat confusing. Here is what is supposed to be a Jewish synagogue with a very Catholic name. Like many other places in Toledo, what was once a synagogue or a mosque is now a church. Sinagoga Ben Shoshan is the original name of the place. It's a very simple building, but the inside is quite attractive. It only uses 2 colors, namely white and gold, a striking combination. Santa Maria La Blanca is one of 7 places that you can visit on the tourism bracelet of Toledo. The price is 10 Euros. It's valid for 3 days. A wise investment.

Beautiful and so special. A testimony of the terrible past of the Jewish people in Spain. The structure is superb and definitely worth the visit.

We were charged 4€ each. We had no background info. There was no guidance or signs in English. When I went back to enquire I was told we had to pay another 1€ each to get guidance. I decided not to bother as we had already paid too much and apart from the building there was little to see. .
Adrian Bandy — Google review
If you bother to go you must have already known some history of this “church” that was originally a synagogue, which is a unique testimony to the intense Jewish-Christian history in medieval Spain. It is run by a Catholic church—no wonder there is no decent explanation of, or even a leaflet guide to its history and interior remains. Luckily I joined a tour and our guide was excellent.

The Mezquita del Cristo de la Luz is a 10th century mosque converted into a Christian church in the 12th century. It is one of Spain's rare gems of early Hispanic-Muslim architecture and is a great place to visit for a glimpse of Andalusia's Islamic heritage.
The Mosque of Cristo de la Luz is a former mosque in Toledo, Spain. It is the one of the ten that existed in the city during the Moorish period. The edifice was then known as Mezquita Bab-al-Mardum, deriving its name from the city gate Bab al-Mardum.

This former mosque was recommended to visit by a local, but I didn’t feel it was worth it. It’s essentially a small room with bare walls and a hanging fixture of Jesus. The view of the city in the garden area can be seen for free in other parts of the city. Perhaps the only thing looking at is what remains of the Arabic calligraphy on the outside, but you can just walk by to see that.

The Mosque of Cristo de la Luz is a Catholic chapel and former mosque in Toledo, Spain. It is the one of the ten that existed in the city during the Moorish period. The edifice was then known as Mezquita Bab-al-Mardum, deriving its name from the city gate Bab al-Mardum. It is located near the Puerta del Sol, in an area of the city once called Medina where wealthy Muslims used to live. Built in 999 in Toledo, this building is a rarity in that it is in much the same state as it was when it was originally built.[1] The original patron was Ahmad Ibn Hadidi. The Arabic inscription in Kufic on the building states that Musa Ibn Ali built it. The inscription is written with brick in Kufic script on the south-west façade reveals these details of the mosque's foundation: Bismila (in the name of Allah). Ahmad ibn Hadidi had this mosque erected using his own money requesting a reward in paradise for it from Allah. It was completed with the aid of Allah under the direction of Musa ibn Alí, architect and Sa'ada, and concluded in Muharram in 390 (Islamic calendar).[3] Legend has it that a shaft of light guided the king to a figurine of the crucified Christ that had been hidden for centuries. He left his shield there with the inscription, "This is the shield which the King Alfonso VI left in this chapel when he conquered Toledo, and the first mass was held here". The legend says that King Alfonso VI arrived in Toledo after his victory of capturing the city in 1085 when his horse fell in front of this chapel. The story tells that candle has been continuously burning in the cracks of the stone wall throughout the entire rule of Muslims and when the King further explored the place he discovered a crucifix. The crucifix was moved to the Santa Cruz Museum located in the same city. It is said that the first mass after the King’s victory of Toledo was held here. In 1186, Alfonso VIII gave the building to the Knights of the Order of St John, who established it as the Chapel of the Holy Cross (Ermita de la Santa Cruz). It was at this time that the mosque was renamed and the apse was added

Dear readers, when visiting Madrid you must take a day trip to Toledo…it’s honestly a fairy tale…I felt I was transported to a medieval time, and knights were going to start walking around the tiny streets. It was absolutely breathtaking…set on a hill, surrounded by the original walls, built as a fortress….with the river below. Then you happen to stumble upon this beautiful mosque, one of the oldest after Cordoba…we honestly had no clue it was there. I hadn’t done too much research before we went, I just knew from pictures I had googled that Toledo is a gem. So, this was a real treat…we went in, rented the guided tour, and are so glad we did. It gives you the history from the beginning to end when it became a church…just like Cordoba mosque, it has both Christian and Muslim history. It has a exceptional view as well…with a lovely garden that has a gentle water fountain that relaxes you, I just wanted to sit there and enjoy the breeze….a must visit when visiting Toledo…

This was an awesome location. It's not large, but it has a very unique history. We used the tourist wristband so all of the sites cost us a total of €12/person. I *think* without the band it was €3 or €4 per person, but didn't pay attention once I had purchased it. The audioguide is an extra €1 each, but it's absolutely worth it. The history of the mosque turned church and how the Muslim and Christian influences impacted the building is very interesting. In addition to the church, the gardens and the view over the river and valley are fantastic.

The Alcazar fortress in Toledo, once the home of a royal palace and now a military museum, dominates the citys skyline from its prominent location on the highest hill in Toledo. The fortress has been rebuilt several times over the centuries, most notably during the reign of Emperor Charles V in the 16th century. Today it houses a military museum with exhibits on Toledo and national history and culture.
Alcazar (from Arabic: Alqasr, meaning a palace/citadel) is a huge structure that occupies the highest point in Toledo giving the visitor a great 360 degree panorama of the city. Alcazar was built, in the 16th century, on the remains of a Roman palace. In the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) this citadel became an icon for the rightist Royalist and Francoist as it withstood a 2 months bloody siege by the leftist Republican troops from July to September 1936, when Franco's troops came to the rescue of the besieged. Today, the building hosts a public library and a military museums. After the heavy damages it sustained during the siege, a rebuilding project led to discovering the foundations and walls of the original Roman palace. You can see those ruins by walking along an elevated walkway over them, at the lower level of the building. Admission fee: 5€ (Reduced: 2,5 €) A taxi from Toledo Central Station to the Alcazar will set you back only 7-8€.

It’s a historical architecture with military museum. In my opinion, it’s not first priority to visit. If you have enough time in Toledo, you can consider it as a option. As of January, 2023, they were under renovation, so it was for free to enter. But it took around 1 hour and half to see all exhibits. By the way, their entrance is the north side of building.

Definitely with a visit in Segovia. We purchased tickets when we arrived and had the percent amount of time to do the audio tour before our assigned time for the tower. The tower has great views. You have to be okay with 150 spiral steps. The audio tour is good (not as amusing as Ghent but informative). The rooms are beautiful, love the ceilings. Be sure to check out the stork nests in the trees out front.

If you like this review give it a 👍 Impressive building with a lot of history which is very well displayed. Its a military museum so everything is about......you guessed it. A lot of information, and basically to music to discover in short time. You need at least 3 to 4 hours to discover it all. Well worth your time and effort.

Set on a very steep hill, as you walk towards it just appears, looks medieval, there are severall options to get up to the centre they all involve lots of steps! Once there, there are cafes, restaurants and shops. Marzipan shops are quite popular. There is a train ride for €30 per person which will take you around all the sights and then takes around the entire perimeter of The old town.

There are some really good exhibitions here however you should check online to see if the main fortress is open as there had been a small fire recently limiting where in the building you could go.

Not impressed. The Alcázar’s entry is through Museo de Ejercito. It’s essentially three floors of mostly colonialism war history, has some remnants of aqueduct ruins, and only the top floor has anything related to the Alcázar. The permanent exhibit, however, was closed. I liked the view from the jardines but you can actually see a better view from outside the palace.

OK, I didn't go in -- it houses a military museum. But it's immense and pretty at night, so it is impressive. Sadly, it pales in comparison to the Alcazar in Segovia which I'd visit a few days earlier. If you have 48 hrs to live go there, to Segovia. Toledo as a whole is pretty great though, so don't despair for it.
howard mcfarland — Google review
The alcazar is currently closed due to a fire. You can enter the museum for free but honestly there isn't much to see on my opinion. Maybe worth a half hour stop.

The Alcazar de Toledo is a breathtaking fortress that embodies Spain’s rich history and architecture. It’s blend of Moorish, Gothic, and Renaissance styles creates a captivating sight. The well-preserved walls, towers, and courtyards exude grandeur and authenticity. The panoramic views of Toledo are mesmerising. Inside, the museums offer an immersive educational experience. A must-visit for history and architecture enthusiasts alike.

Current headquarters of the Army Museum in the city. Its construction dates back to Roman times. During the reigns of Alfonso VI and Alfonso X the Wise, it was rebuilt, giving rise to the first square plan fortress with corner towers. With Emperor Charles V it was rebuilt again, this time by the architect Alonso de Covarrubias. The facades are Renaissance, with turrets and defensive merlons, built according to the first features of Alonso de Covarrubias and later Juan de Herrera. After the last rebuilding, it houses army offices and the museum.

I’m not sure why one one commented on that Alcazar is closed due to fire last year. Instead they opened armory museum but it’s very small and has free entrance. Good place to warm up and use bathroom.

The city of Toledo is rich with history from many cultures. It is a beautiful intact walled city with original buildings. Worth a visit of more than a few short hours.
Chris Cozen — Google review
Very imposing building, half palace and half fortress, commanding the high-ground on which stands the ancient city of Toledo over the valley of the Tagus river. During the Spanish Civil War a few military personnel and a number of civilians took refuge at the Alcazar and endured a long siege by the Republican forces during which an epic fight raged on. Some legendary episodes still echo from those days. All in all the Alcazar is both a great fortress and a symbol.

Must visit the old town of toledo 😍. Very nice atmosphere there especially during autumn 🍂 season. You smell the history and amazing allies there. Loved the old houses there
Younes Al Hilal — Google review
Once used as a Roman palace in the 3rd century, it was restored under Charles I (Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor) and his son Philip II of Spain in the 1540s according to Wikipedia. In 1521, Hernán Cortés was received by Charles I at the Alcázar, following Cortes' conquest of the Aztecs. Alcázar is Castle in Arabic. Along the Mediterranean coast, there are half a dozen Alcázar dotted over the coasts during the long history between Moorish and Reconquest controls. This Alcazar in Toledo also serves as a military museum and have some tanks and guns displayed in the garden area. It has an aerial view of Toledo as this castle is at the highest peak of the city.

El Trébol is a beer hall in Toledo, Spain that features a variety of tapas and sandwiches. The price point is good, and the atmosphere is wonderful. There's an amazing view of Roman ruins from the glass floor, making it one of the coolest bars in town.
Delicious food with reasonable pricing. The staff speaks English, that is amazing! They recommended us the traditional dishes in there ans it was incredible! Moreover, the place is pet friendly, they give some water for them :) It was a bit messy during the hectic hours, but afterwards they cleaned everything. You can find a spot outside or inside. But it’s definitely worth sitting outside with the fresh air and the vibe of the town :)

A cool little outdoor tapas bar, and it does have indoor seating. We could only get tapas when we went; it's a small town 8 pm is dinner time. Service was, as expected, at a slow pace which was fine. The stuffed tomato was interesting, but too much moisture made it almost slimy. The stuffed potatoes were so good!!! I had a pint of beer, well 2 🤫 and my wife had the local red wine; both were good. The pork loin was more like pork stew, a bowl of strange my wife and I weren't fans. Nice area, a great place to people watch, and Credit cards are accepted. Cool glass floor inside around the bar area. I haven't seen that before.
James M — Google review
Unorganized queuing system. Tourists don't know that the line outside is for the outdoor sitting area and simply stand there (for inside you can simply go inside). If there was a person who asks how many are the group and directs them either inside or outside - the wait won't be so long! For example: 1 person was sat at a table of five, and the five people need to wait and wait. Other than that the food was good and also the sangria.

Lovely little taberna with nice food and a great atmosphere. We arrived at 8.00 pm and it was already full inside and outside. We had a selection of tapas, and the good thing was that the waiter said it was enough as it really was enough. This is a perfect way to try 2 very popular dishes, the deer dish and the pork one, both strong flavours but worth trying. The waiters are friendly, and the service was quick.
Annabelle Codali — Google review
Come here every couple years from the U.S. everything is good, the Sangria is very good but I would say the meat Parilla is the best dish. Pictured is the Trebol bomba and the croqueta de calamares. You can’t go wrong when in Toledo Spain! Love it all!

Service is fast. Staff are helpful and friendly. Most importantly, food is perfect with reasonable price. I ordered Iberian pork and love it!

Excellent tapas. Big servings and so cheap (4e each). I had the prawn croquette and stuffed minced potatoes was so good. Thanks to the lovely waiter who suggested I start with 2 tapas. Was gonna order 3 but 2 was enough for 1 person.

Really good spot for quality of traditional local food. We had a few plates to share and did not spend much. Service was fast and friendly. We had lunch in the terrace, lovely.

We were recommended this place for tapas and a place to get a nice beer and we were very pleased to say it was great. A great selection of really nicely prepared food and some beer with some taste! I tried 2 of the draft beers and although not up to real ale standards they were a lot better than the run of the mill larger. Mix all this with good service and a good environment this really hit the spot! Beware this place gets busy and you cannot book but hey its well worth it.

Some of the best food I’ve had in all of Spain. Our server was one of the nicest I’ve had in Spain too. We ordered the tapas platter and absolutely all of it was delicious. The sangria tasted like a milkshake; it was incredibly smooth and just fantastic. It was foamy, maybe they add egg whites? I ordered the carcamusas and boy was it just perfect. Tomatoey and with good juicy meat.

This is a place for drinking beer. We ordered a Parillada, and the Solomillo cut was un-chewable. Lots of locals in and out on a Saturday night. Food was served till midnight which was helpful.

Nice and cosy restaurant at the corner of Zocodover. It has amazing fast service and the waiter is nice and can understand bit of English. I will definitely recommend their Crispy Chicken Sandwich. Unfortunately we missed breakfast menu which has good offers (Sandwich + Coffee/Orange Juice) other drinks one need to pay 1 €, it was not available till 12:00. But i would definitely visit again!

Best food I had in my Madrid trip. Get these 2 platters and they won’t disappoint and allows u to taste all the wonderful flavors and local dishes that Toledo has to offer.
Melson Chun — Google review
Most people queue outside - that is for outside seating only. Walk inside to get served faster. Food here wasn’t really great - the shrimp croquette was a bit strange, the pulgada chicken sandwich was fine but very dry (no sauce), the carcamusa was extremely salty and tasted strange. At least it was cheap, 8 euro per person.
Justin Dao — Google review
One of the best tapas bars that I have experienced. Everything is consistently excellent and the staff are accommodating. The outdoor seating is lovely for enjoying their brilliant tinto de verano. The patatas bravas is absolutely stunning.
Ben Boland — Google review
Had a fantastic dinner here. We at inside, in the upstairs section which was great as it wasn't too loud, or busy with people walking by. Our server did a great job! The food was awesome, mixed grill meat was juicy and flavourful. Book ahead (if you can) or get there early. Also if you see a big line outside, go in and ask, as the outside line was for people waiting to sit outside.
Tony Dehnke — Google review
That stuffed tomato with avocado and anchovies was not worth 8 euros, the croquette was okay. Nice place to sit down but food-wise - I've been to better cafes in Spain.

My most favorite place to eat in Toledo. The atmosphere is par none along with the service! Highly recommend 🫶 Tastey chicken salad that I still dream of having. The most fresh ingredients and my server knew exactly what to offer me as far as wine so much that I took a bottle back with me 🩵🫒

Our tour guide recommended this, we decided to try and we're really glad we did. We took a tray of tapas and everything was absolutely delicious. Added the patates bravas as an extra and those were great too. Place has a fun and busy vibe to it, we enjoyed our time and got served pretty fast too.

Restaurant Alfileritos 24 is a trendy and modern place with interesting architecture and delicious food. It's one of the coolest places we've ever been, and the prices are really good. We'd definitely recommend it!
One of the coolest places I’ve ever been. After walking around less populated areas of Toledo for a hour in 90 degree weather, we were struggling to find an open restaurant to get food/water/sit down/cool air. We happened upon this place which not only had one of the coolest interiors, but also super cheap food & coffee that was delicious. We even got seconds because we didn’t want to leave. Although breakfast was cheap, the dinner menu definitely seemed much more expensive.
Santino Sobelman — Google review
The place is really well decorated with their own personality. The staff was really friendly and helpful. The dishes we ordered were quite delicious and authentic. They serve many wild meats, so maybe that's why their price is also a bit higher than the regular restaurant. The experience was quite well as I have been here about 20 times when I am in Toledo. A great place to try the special wild meats from Castilla-La Mancha.
Evan Kuo (Taiwanese in Madrid) — Google review
I arrived late in Toledo, and my hotel recommended this restaurant. It was fantastic. I had the tasting menu 😋. The food was fantastic. I mean ice cream with mustard served with fillet steak and a small salad. The chef is mad🤔😋. I could go on. I am old-fashioned or maybe just old, but please explain to the staff, just because you are not eating doesn't mean you are finished. Look for the position of the knife and fork or ask before you try to take the plate away or serve the next course. They are trying too hard. Before they leave a section of the restaurant, look at the other clients to see if they need anything. It's a small thing, but I tried to pay my bill 3 times and ended up having to pay at the bar. As I said, small things but I think it will just finish a fabulous experience.

The food was not the best one, but the partridge salad was really tasty. My sister ordered marinated pork meat with mushrooms, but couldn't eat it. The location is very nice and the staff was very friendly. We also got a small appetizer for free.

Recommended by the Concierge at the hotel, had a fantastic meal and this restaurant is highly recommended! There are two seating areas: the ground floor is a tapas bar and the upper levels are a restaurant. We ordered from both the Tapas/sharing section of the menu and from the meat and dessert sections. Highly recommend the 'Pica Pica' sharing plate that offers samples of four different Tapas. It normally is for two, but can be portioned according to the size of the group. The samples offered were cheese and Iberico ham croquettes (blue cheese croquettes was sensational) tuna tartar with seaweed and avocado, venison medallions and a lovely duck spring roll. The Cannelloni on the sharing list are also recommended. We were provided with two extra courses, a wonderful Gazpacho and a very intriguing flan. All was finished off with a terrific Manchego flan with a passion fruit sauce paired with a thyme ice cream that offered a different tasting experience from the bonus flan course.

An absolutely fantastic meal. The offering that day was a beautiful series of starters and entrees and a dessert. The taste of all of it was exquisite. Great selection of wines. You get to watch the chef at work as the seats surround the kitchen. Price was very reasonable for such an amazing experience

When we arrive we immediately like the mix of lights against the towering rock and glass walls. There is an atrium in the middle with Christmas tree wreaths hanging from the glass sky light ceiling. We are seated in a cozy rock alcove. Wine glasses paired with our wine choice were so large but delicate. A normal pour looked small. Glad we had the whole bottle so we didn’t feel shorted! Complementary pate served with toast points was so good we requested more bread so we could finish it. My husband said the bread is the best bread he has ever had. We start with a shared assorted appetizer. What arrives to the table is now the most creative and tasteful of all we’ve had in Spain. It had ahi tuna tartare, pulled pork crunch roll, croquettes that melted and marinated venison filets that were so tender. So fun to try so many things! Then we had a Cesar salad with crunchy deer. The deer was crunchy but so tender. Salad was excellent. Lastly we had Golden Cannellone stuffed with three meats. The waiter pours a peppermint broth at table and it is delicious. It is so “golden” and we are so thrilled by the surprise of it, we dig in before taking a picture. The restaurant was by far the best place we’ve had in our Spain tours! We are going to break our rule and we’re going to repeat tomorrow!More great things to try on the menu! A Must Eatery in Toledo!!

The food was alright. some were hit or miss. The beef and Lamb we ordered was overcooked but their oxtail is delightful!!! atmosphere is really nice but a bit dark which is what I like. The tartare is on point. Got popular on a Chinese app too.

This place is a gastronomic gem that defies expectations and leaves an indelible mark on the palate. They embodied the spirit of culinary innovation, showcasing traditional Spanish flavors with a flare of amazing Asian influences that deserves to be celebrated. The result is an exquisite symphony of flavors that tantalize the taste buds with every bite. The appetizers, a prelude to the culinary journey that awaits, showcase a harmonious union of ingredients and techniques from both worlds (Pica Pica is a MUST!). Moving on to the main courses, Alfileritos 24 continues to surprise and delight. The Rulo de Cochinillo and the Lamb Chops, a Spanish classic with a twist, exemplifies the fusion concept flawlessly. The dessert selection is a grand finale that leaves a lasting impression. The wine selection is also spectacular, with a great selection for pairing. Beyond the culinary prowess, the ambiance is an elegant marriage of contemporary design and Spanish charm. The staff's passion for their craft is palpable, and their knowledge of the menu is commendable, adding a personal touch to the dining experience.

Excellent place for some fine dining in Toledo with a great modern atmosphere. Get the Zero km cheese plate, amazing selection of cheeses. The crispy deer on the Caesar salad was a nice touch. The Lamb, I would probably pass on .. too soft and shredded for my taste and it should have been served with real couscous. Dear medallions were excellent as was the snapper. The thyme ice cream dessert with manchego cheese custard was a unique and well thought of dessert. Great service!

The IPA was good and a nice change up from the normal Spanish pilsners I’ve been drinking lately. The restaurant is busy because it’s good and we were in a wait. The 9 euro menu of the day is totally worth it, and the portions were a perfect size! The server with glasses is great! She’s super fast and knows her job well. Over all the experience was great and I would recommend eating the Spanish food here for your complete Spanish experience. Just be prepared for a wait, or make a reservation at the front door and come back later!

A must go while in Toledo, it has two main sectors, the bar/pub for tapas, sangria and beer mainly, and the restaurant downstairs. The restaurant is composed of several rooms for a few tables each. The food was excellent, and the ratio price/quality was outstanding. We tried 7 dishes in one dinner just to taste and enjoy, and loved Ensalada de pimientos asados, Ensalada de codorniz escabechada and Puchero de caracamusas, then, in second place milhojas de salmón and tomates verdes fritos

Best restaurant in Toledo! We order the ham and cheese croquettes, they were not oily at all, they were crunchy and in the inside was very creamy and delicious!! The meat parillada, the meat was cooked to perfection and the chorizo was out of this world! We order another side of it! The grill vegetables were delicious! I don't eat vegetables that much but I devour this ones they had an awesome taste of the charcoal. We enjoyed lunch here on wednesday, and we did not require a reservation. However, the restaurant was full. The highlight of our meal was the sangria with pasionfruit, a unique and fruity favour for a spring lunch. The huevos rotos with shrimp were amazing, along with the lambchops and fries cooked perfectly with lots of flavour. Service was fast and the wait staff was friendly and were able to help explain the typical food to our canadian guests. Tasteless food. Ordered Croqueton Rabo Toro and was cold inside, like not defrosted(?), ensaladilla de gambones (no shrimps were to be seen…perhaps were out of luck), the tortilla was dry and had little flavor although we expected it to be a little runny. The artichoke chips were just ok. Service was just ok - running up and down, waited 15’ to take our order.

Restaurante La Orza is a charming and traditional eatery located in Toledos Jewish quarter. It offers a creatively crafted regional menu, served in an elegantly rustic dining room and terrace. The restaurant has gained recognition for its exceptional cooking skills and use of high-quality ingredients, being mentioned in the Michelin guide. With limited seating available, it is advisable to make reservations in advance.
Good overall experience for us, but we felt the main guy on the door on our day was a little snobby. We saw them turn away a diner requesting a table for 1 presumably because they wanted to max fill the terrace seats outside which are in high demand for lunch. If you do make it through, the waiters are attentive and eager to please. The quality of food and wine is excellent, with a limited vegetarian offer.

Gorgeous presentation! We were really excited to come here. The staff was ok, not very friendly. The food was simple in flavor - clean, basic ingredients. The eggplant appetizer was a crowd favorite. I ordered the Hake and thought it was good. The star for me was the desert. I had the strawberry cream and it was AMAZING.😍😍😍 I also really appreciated the menu easily identified all the allergens.

Nice restaurant. Attentive service. The food is good, but a bit pricy. I thought 2 euro for 1 piece of bread is too expensive. The beef tataki honey sauce is a bit too sweet. But other than that, the food quality is good.

Felt the food deserved 5 stars but the staff weren’t too welcoming and helpful. Also the food and service was hands down better at Hierbabueno so for these reasons I give 4 stars. The marzipan dessert is their house staple and for a reason. The artichoke was nice but not unforgettable. Carpaccio was interesting mix of flavors which I liked.

Good quality but BE CAREFUL! this restaurant doesn’t allow you to order only an appetizer or desert. They ask you order one main food for each person. So if you have a plan to share your food with friend or partner, you are now allowed to do this. Also, the portion of food is really small.

Excellent food, even more excellent service and chill and relaxing environment (outside and inside) to sit down and have a nice lunch after walking in Toledo all morning. I recommend the “Tabla de quesos”, the short ribs and the Rib Eye. Both meats were tender but the short ribs were outsandingly tasty and tender. The deconstructed lemon pie was mouth-watering and the chocolate dessert was very nice presented (taste wasnt as special)

We visited the cathedral of Toledo and reserved a table in advance. I had the Mini vegetables as starter and the suckling pig as main course. My short statement: it was exquisite! Top notch! For me it is hard to imagine, that there could be a location in Toledo, where you can eat better. And the prices? For that, what you get a extremly good deal. We will come again! But wait! One point was disturbing: the plates were pretty cold. So you have to hurry up, or your meat will be cold. This should be revised . Anyway- a great experience!

The restaurant I originally planned on eating at was closed, and I am SO. GRATEFUL. for that, because this place is an absolute gem! I got the veggie risotto and my mother got gnocchi. You can immediately tell that the gnocchi are made fresh in-house. They just melt in your mouth, with a gentle flavor of herbs in olive oil chasing the creamy sauce. My risotto was cooked to perfection, the rice soft but still maintaining enough texture to chew and enjoy. The flavor was bold and with a beautiful balance of creamy and acidic. To top it off, the coffee is wonderful and our waiter, Martín, was super friendly and hospitable.

I got so excited about my food, I started eating before I took the picture. DUDE 10/10. The quality, the taste, the price, the service 🙌🏻. The waiters were so friendly here. I really want to go back and try more of their options, they had so many and they all sounded delicious.

I really liked this restaurant!! The food was fantastic. Our waiter Ronald was great and helped us pick some delicious dishes. The lemonade was perfect for the hot Spanish summer, and we ended the day with an awesome pizza.

We ordered 3 different things and loved everything. Our favorite one was the smoked salmon tartar. The vegetarian risotto was quite good as well. There are some good options for vegetarians and pescatarians. The staff will try their best to help you. Thanks everyone!

Very delicious Italian food with a Spanish twist. One of the best restaurants I tried in Spain. The food was all fresh and amazing. Special thanks to Ceasar( the waitress not the salad)

It was a really nice pizza, I was also lucky as they had a vegan option. I got the hormoza and it was lovely. I would recommend this restaurant if you fancy a pizza in Toledo. The service was on point as well. Also it was a bonus that it was open at 16:30 as the other restaurants seemed to close between 16:00-20:00.

I think this was honestly one of the best meals my wife and I had during the two weeks in Spain. And I think it speaks volumes that it was at this Italian restaurant tucked away in the middle of Toledo. This also happened to be some of our favorite Italian food we’ve ever had. The very friendly service and amazing sangrias also didn’t hurt, but we thoroughly enjoyed their homemade lasagna and tagliatelle manchegos, made with local venison! And we topped it off with their tiramisu, which is just as essential as our forks were. We will be back, I can promise you that!

Had a great and cheap breakfast. The chicken crepe and the fruit crepe’s were really good and was a lot of quantity and quite cheap at 3 euros. The orange juice was very fresh. I also tried the bowl of fruits and another cold chicken fun dish which were fine. The morning chef and waiter were very nice and incredibly helpful. I came back in the evening for food. We had 2 pizzas - a venison pizza and a pizza which we chose ingredients (chicken, mushrooms and tomatoes). Both were really good and tasty and large (34cm). The waiter at this time was a young man who wasn’t very friendly. The food was however good enough to keep the rating at 5 stars!

Great customer service and welcoming waiters. They gave me a complimentary appetizer. Loved that they’re gluten free. The burger meat was bland but that’s burger meat everywhere even in America the burger meats don’t have flavor. Overall, I enjoyed the burger and fries.
