Visiting Beethoven's house in Bonn has been a lifelong dream of mine, and it certainly did not disappoint. As a classical music lover, getting to walk the same halls where one of history's greatest composers once lived and worked was an incredible experience. The house itself is beautiful, with its classic 18th century architecture and the lush gardens surrounding it. Inside, I was amazed to see Beethoven's actual pianos, original scores, and other artifacts that gave me a glimpse into his creative genius. Though he went deaf later in life, standing in that house you could almost hear the music in the air. Getting to see where Beethoven was born and spent his formative years left me inspired and in awe of his lasting legacy. This visit is one I will cherish forever.

Small house filled with interesting tidbits on Beethoven including a unique statue made from a plaster mask while he was not very old, the string quartet instruments he was gifted, items from his daily life, facsimile scores, ear trumpets, and info on his friends, patrons, and acquaintances. I recommend doing the audio tour as it will add quite a bit of context and information to the experience. Perhaps too much. If one were to listen to every entry in the guide you'd likely be there for several hours.

Beautiful and well maintained museum. The staff is very friendly, the items are easy to get to and see, tickets could be easily bought on the spot. I visited on Dec 23 and the museum wasn’t super busy. The special exhibition opened at 11:30 a.m. (museum opens at 10 a.m.) which gave me enough time to see the rest of the house without being in rush. The whole experience took me about a hour and a half. The musical rooms are very meditative and I definitely recommend spending time listening to Beethoven’s music for a while. Pictures could be taken everywhere with exception of the Treasury room where the special exhibition was placed. A definite must-go for a professional musician!

Excellent experience, the house where a legend was born. It's very well kept, everything, every object has an explanation (historical note if you will). You can also download an app which plays the music specific to the instrument Beethoven used. You aren't allowed to take photos inside the house but there is a garden where you can click few photos. Visited it on a Saturday late afternoon, overall liked the place and was able to cover it in 75 mins. It's small with ground, first and second floor. The place offers you to see different potraits of Beethoven, some of his musical instruments, letters from his family and friends, and some hearing devices. To get more info about the exhibits you can download an app. The download did not work for me inside the Haus so I went to the ticket shop again to download it. Treasury area is only open from 11 till 14:00 or 15:00. Next to the Treasury you can go into the music room and relax there while listening to some of the famous compositions. You can buy the tickets from the ticket amd souvenir shop opposite to the house at a normal price for 12 euros and for students 7/7.5 euros.

Definitely come to Beethoven's House if you are visiting Bonn, it is an amazing place that shows the life of the great composer, and how the barriers of losing his sense of hearing can still make wonderful works like his famous 5th and 9th symphony.

This was one of the main reason I travelled to Bonn. It was a nice medium sized museum full of Beethoven's personal letters, manuscripts, artifacts and instruments. What I found quite interesting was the correspondences detailing Beethoven's relationships. Download the app in the shop using their free wifi before entering the gallery so you can use the audio guide. Bring a good set of earphones (noise cancelling preferably) as its a small space and the creaky floors and many tours get quite loud over the audio guide.

My friend just wanna visit it while i been in Bonn. It was easy just both tickets and we go straight away! They give u tablet with headphones or you can download app with all information and history. From outside it looks quite small but when you enter its a lot of space to explore! Really love it, enjoy the music while looking by the window in to the garden was my fav thing. After that we went to Beethoven house, the house where Beethoven was born. To buy tickets you across the street. Also if you have a backpack then you need to put it in one of the lockers. We downloaded the app which had the auto guide. Overall there is the ground floor and then 2 other floors. This museum goes over Beethovens up bringing as well as highlights the instruments he played. Nice museum, if you want to listen to everything it will take about 2 hours but we tried to listen to what we thought was noteworth so we finished within an hour. Nice to see if you are in Bonn.

Was my first time, i was a bit hesitated but quickly from the starting i get the positive vibe, the reception then the pianist and they way they have decorated with the candles. No regrets, and sure will go again and encourage my friends as well.

What a beautiful surprise to find this petit filarmonic in the Beethoven House, just so elegant and cozy. The piano con concert very accurate and the pianist was very gently, he explained a nice general history about Beethoven pieces. And the many candles are just adorable.

I grew up with music of Beethoven, so visiting this museum was kind of sentimental for me. Reading his letters regarding his deafness and trying the instrument that mimics his hearing was heartbreaking. He was a great man and museum was a good reminder and reflection of this.

May 2023: An absolutely excellent museum on three floors. And an underground treat too! All FREE. Wonderful run though history in sight and sound. You need the best part of a day. AND a bit of the Berlin wall too. The exhibition of Computer era was fascinating too.

The Museum of the History of the Federal Republic is a modern chronically of post second war Germany. It is a very fascinating place to visit but half way round I felt overloaded with information. It is perhaps better to take a coffee or tea break before you become saturated with information overload. I would recommend this museum it is very well laid out and extremely simulating. But remember to take a break. You can download a free audio guide to your mobile phone. The Museum is free to enter. The cloakroom is free to use. It had a handy cafe with waiter service. Toilets are on the basement floor. A metro station is virtually a minute away from the entrance.

I learned so much history about WW2 and German history that I had never heard before. Such an interesting and well put together exhibit. You could spend hours there. If you're not a German speaker, make sure to download Google translate and use the camera feature to translate all the notes on the pictures or you'll miss a lot that even the audio guide doesn't tell you.

Are you looking for an well balanced view of German history after WW2, then visit this museum. But you need enough time and concentration. You will understand political development and live circumstances. But I think it has to rebuild. Youth need other kind of knowledge transfer with more interaction and using digital media. The longe invites for a relaxing break between many books.

The museum is really big and lots of items inside The museum starts from (after ww2, 1945) until now. The bad thing is that there are NO English descriptions at all, although it is intended for foreigners to learn history about this great country I loved the place in general. I love German history Many original pieces and many replicas The museum has history about war, machines, politics, astro, life, people, .. I liked how the theme was affected by the timeline (united > east+west germany> united germany)

It was free entry for some reason, they had quite a good collection, the historical stuff is in German, while the digital section is labeled in English. I spend around 2hrs here. It was worth it. I recommend a visit.

Get emotional at first with some corners of post war. Informative and diversely displayed which is really nice however a few English signs to be found except the very brief main ones. In stead they walk you thru by audio by QR code.

Truly a must see for every German citizen and everyone who is interested in German and recent European history. What is especially captivating is the fact that each part of the exhibition is visually and physically enhanced by original objects and artifacts which are telling a story about their past much better than a simple picture or text. While you can easily spend an entire day here without having seen everything, I’d recommend to split the entire exhibition in at least two visits to better process the vast amounts of information and pictures.

Rheinaue is one of the best spots to meditate and carry your outdoor activities. The park is rich with well maintained greenery which provides an ambiance that is suitable for everything, be it a romantic walk, a yoga session, a sprint or even the chill pill of playing beer pong ! Furthermore, Rheinaue is known for various sports and interests such as canoeing, and The 5km run association is called the park-run. The spot is highly recommended.

Huge church visible from many parts of the city still under reconstruction (the front of church and the main tower) in July 2022, however it was possible to visit the inside. The newly reconstructed interior is church typical, nothing extraordinary and as I would say there are many other prettier churches around Germany. The nave is simple, almost minimalistically decorated, painted in white and dominated by large organs. It was a bit darker inside than in other churches I have visited. The walls and ceiling at the altar were very colorful and playful, and the floor had quite a nice and unique mosaic floor. I appreciated the depiction of the Coat of arms of Germany in one of the transepts. Unfortunately no information was provided at the entrance, no guide nor any paper brochure to learn more, however a guided tour can be booked. Unfortunately I was unable to visit the cloister and crypt as the opening hours vary to the churches opening hours. Visited in July 2022.

This is an INCREDIBLE botanical garden. First of all I have to say that the garden is free of charge to all visitors! It offers an astonishing pallette of different trees, bushes, shrubs and flowers which are all labelled and can be inspected up close since walking on the grass is allowed. Aside from the plethora of plants outside, there are also several greenhouses with different zones like sub-tropical, tropical and arid. There is even an extra little part with different types of carnivorous plants. Beside the main botanical garden there is also a small separate garden wherein plants which are used by humans are grown. There are different citrus and nut trees, berries, fruits and other edibles as well as different grain types and other interesting plants. Whether you are an avid plant lover, botanist or someone who likes to spend time among many different plants then make sure to have a visit to the botanical garden, you won't regret it.

Nice place to relax and explore the nature in the City. Take the Bus 601, 602 or 603 from the Main Station Bonn and get off at "Am Botanische Garten". The entrance is free in the week.

Beautiful botanical garden with a wide variety of plant species. Intriguing plants from around the world including but not limited to African, American and even Australian continents are displayed. This garden preserves some rare species as well. Excellent experience!

This is a beautifully maintained garden that is free, and takes maybe about 30-60 minutes to walk through. But it’s worth staying longer if you can, particularly if you are looking to relax and take a breather. There is a very wide variety of plants from around the world, so take your time to check them out. The more you look, the more you see!

Fantastic day even though it was a dull October day! Enjoyed the gardens and we spent hours looking at the plants in the Glass Houses, which we especially enjoyed.

A wonderful well maintained botanical garden and a good escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. When you get there in spring or early summer you will find many plants in full bloom You can stroll through the park with many different trees and visit the hot house and spot the occasional leguana hanging around. On some occasions a park ranger may even present a snake to you.

Surprising pretty even if we didn’t get to see the biggest flower blooming. We missed the flower but still very much enjoyed the glass house. Seems small but well organized and pretty!

Very extensive collection of species in the large glass houses. Each section is another surprise, ranging from humid tropical to dry desert cactus collections. The eautiful garden layout includes several ponds and bridges, sections with large trees give a nice shade during warm days while still giving a great view on the historical palace-like central building.

Loved the exhibition about the years between the two world wars. Meeting the doll from Metropolis (Fritz Langs movie from 1917) was a great experience!

The building is huge and very interesting. The fountain and slide are super fun. The souvenir shop has many lovely things, I wanted to buy everything. Very recommended.

I nearly always enjoy the exhibitions at this gallery. They are so well displayed. Today it was 'Dress Code', about fashion and what clothes say about us. The photos are from the outside space.

Lovely Museum with interesting exhibitions. There is a bit of everything for everyone. Currently there is a nice exhibit about the brain. It's worth taking a kombo ticket to see all the exhibit at once if you have enough time. The current Adam and eve exhibition is not kid friendly, but other than that I would recommend it for families as well 😊

Amazing building and surrounding but very borring exhibition and the staff was a bit unfriendly except one! The kids room is not exciting and creative at all!!

They usually have a great selection of exhibitions that are a mix of interactive and informative. The courtyards, cafes, and rooftop spaces make it an ideal place to relax and stroll around.

Unless you are a die hard contemporary art fan, not worth it in my opinion.

Great museum, nice exhibits and well organised. The one on the history of the Opera is very interesting. The cloakroom and the audio guide is free...but it is understandable only if you are German !!! Unfortunately there are no other languages selectable. The rest of the exhibition is well documented with writing in two languages but it would have been great if we could have used the audio guide in English as well.

Very educational and most things are offering in German and English which was nice. We went on a Thursday morning and there was a school field trip going on at the time but wasn’t crowded. Lots of taxidermy.

Very nice and cozy place to visit in the winter or any season since it's indoor. Very informative with a wide collection of animals in German and English translation, although not every is translated. If you have kids, or are a couple then this is a really fun place to visit but you get more kids on Sunday xp I wish they had more sea animals and at least something about dinosaurs.

This natural history museum’s collection started in the 1930s. The building is a must see, staircases and closed wooden doors align the long hallways are beautiful. There’s a small aquarium in the basement. So many interactive exhibits, mostly for children, but my husband really enjoyed the butterfly magnificently glass. The day we visited, between Christmas and New Year’s, meant that the small cafeteria on the second floor was closed. We got a coffee and cookie out of a vending machine near the coat racks. Charming and cheap but the coffee tasted of super sweet chocolate.

Comparing to other Natural History Museums in Germany, Museum Koenig was a bit smaller. But it is very nice and educating. If you don’t have / like children, don’t go on Sundays it is too crowded.

Now this is what I call a perfect museum - no live animals held in captivity; and a massive, beautiful structure dedicated to the natural sciences. Such a diverse range on exhibition - I don’t think any corner of the world went neglected albeit there were certainly some parts of the world with very little to no coverage (such as the Lut desert, which I expected to see in the desert section). My other issue was how I, a budding ecologist, found myself consistently unsatisfied with the lack of detail in some areas - which makes me believe this museum is rather heavily oriented toward children as opposed to curious academics. For example - they mentioned how fishes cannot survive in the desert but certain fishes do prosper in oases in the deserts. Which fishes? That is a question that should have been answered. But it was left for impossible speculation. A child would not want to know the name of such a species but an academic would. I rest my case. Nevertheless. Solid museum. Maybe one day they’ll build a museum like this in my name for my services to the field…

Cool relatively small zoological museum in a beautiful historical bulding. Unlike many similar museums, they did a great job in showing how actual scientific process in zoology and related fields was organised in the past and today - was really cool to see exemplary collections of similarly looking yet distinct beetle subspecies, or listen to recorded bird songs. The museum is probably perfect for kids, there was a lot of interactive stuff, even a virtual reality corner. Some info was (understandably) only in German, but most often doubled in english.

We, as a family, always enjoy natural history museums. This one isn't big, but there was more on display than we expected. We were pleasantly surprised. The exhibition on the ground floor is beautiful. Only a few texts are in English. But there's free WiFi, so you can use Google translate. There's no cafe on site and parking behind the museum itself is free of charge. The entrance costs €15 for a family. So, it's a great value.

Inside, this place is amazing. The displays and dioramas are beautiful and informational. Unfortunately, the service was poor. We arrived at 16.45 and purchased our tickets, but at 17.45 we were suddenly rounded up by an irate and very rude security guard who frogmarched us out. I went to the desk and asked why they listed the closing time as 18.00, if we had to leave at 17.45, and he said that after 17.45 you can stay on the ground floor but not be on the upper floor/s. The security guard however had marched us right to the front door, specifically stopping us from remaining on the ground floor. This left a pretty bad taste in our mouths, especially as if they had have mentioned this when we bought our tickets, we could have started on the upper floors instead of on the ground floor. We missed nearly 2 floors worth of the museum, which was very unfortunate as it has a brilliant collection. In short, displays are amazing, take at least 2 hours to see them all, the upper floors close at 17.45 and customer service was bad.

The collection I pretty impressive. I would recommend to spend there several hours. We went with my nieces and liked it a lot.

The vast majority of multimedia equipment, from audio to video, was fully operational, enhancing the museum experience significantly. I was able to absorb a wealth of information, unhindered by large crowds. I wholeheartedly recommend this museum for family outings. Its offerings are sure to delight children and provide an enriching, enjoyable day out. Furthermore, I would like to offer a suggestion to the museum team for consideration. The lighting in areas where laser projection-based videos are displayed could be slightly dimmed. The current level of brightness makes it somewhat challenging to view these particular exhibits.

Very old school museum with so-called Dioramas; An old fashioned way of showing stuffed animals in a “natural” setting with dried plants and painted background. My grandfather worked there a hundred years ago as preparator so it was interesting to see the part that was the history about the museum. But I think it is still the same things as then 😊

The Sterntor city gate provides reminders of Bonn's fortifications in the Middle Ages. It consists of the remainder of Bonn's old city wall and you can imagine how imposing the city fortifications must have been in the Middle Ages.

Well kept middle ages fortification. Not much to see but if you are walking around it’s worth the quick stop to admire it and take a picture.

Part of the medieval wall and gate. The centre of Bonn is so compact that it is a stone's throw from ANY of the other main attractions. As well as the history, the place is full of bars & restaurants to relax in.

Beautiful Schloss! (Only spend time visiting the garden and was only able to admire the outside). Currently the front side is being refurbished and scaffolding is in place, however views from the botanical gardens are stunning!

Nice walk through an avenue up to the palace. If in Bonn definitely worth visiting. Sadly at the time of our visit, large parts were under renovation so we couldn’t visit more

It was under renovation, which killed the whole vibe of showing the palace. Still, it was nice to enjoy a walk through the garden (which is free) since it’s late March and it’s starting to bloom

Quiet and green place to spend the afternoon🌵

A famous place in Bonn that everyone should visit. Now a week before Christmas, there is a decent Christmas market selling beautiful flowers, food, wine and beer, fresh fruits and vegetables. A lovely place to hang around. Besides, it is located in the middle of shopping area where you can find all kinds of shops and restaurants.

Wonderful place to see a film. They have hand selected works Cannes awards and other accolades. The theater is small but not too many people go so there are plenty of tickets and seats. Recommend sitting stage right to avoid the glare of the exit light.

Quite an average museum, if you are on a day trip to Bonn there is much nicer museums to see. On the day there was an event with children playing music and singing ... locals seemed to enjoy it but I found it quite disturbing if you're there to see the exhibits.

I did like this museum a lot. Especialy the fact that every floor has it own time era. Beautifull historical pieces and art was shown. Almost everything was also explained in English!

The museum is currently under going some repair work, but it's open as usual. Quite a detailed museum covering pre history to the 20th century. Pre history and Roman history, with a focus on Rhine area, was quite interesting. In the standard museum structure. Other sections covering later periods. On the upper floor, which may have been a special exhibit I think, was selections of art. It was quite eccentric, perhaps by design. Still, it was a different way of showcasing. Toilet facilities and disabled access, be a good spot for families.

The museum is a little boring. There are many pictures, statues, small objects, but not too much information. I haven’t got the way they organized the exposition, periods are all messed up. Perhaps it’s me who went a wrong way. But I liked the temporal exposition consecrated to the medieval knights.

Very cool place. We went for the knights and castle exhibit. 20 euros for two adults and a kid. Enough to look at. Some in English and German and also Dutch. Cafe attached. Right near main train station. Kids loved it. Activities for them to do.

A nice, but small museum that has interesting items and explains about technology and science. Most texts are translated in English, but the interactive stuff are in German. Kids wouldn't probably enjoy it, and if you are visiting bonn for a short time, i wouldn't recommend it.

Smaller than expected. However the exhibits were interesting and well planned.

A passion for science and innovation - for every age. Highlight of this museum are the expertly informed staff members that will casually start a discussion about certain pieces in the exhibit or explain the larger context of said installations. The installations are mostly interactive, meaning you can experience how an AI observes Changes in its imaging path or how gravity pulls objects down on on various paths. I don’t want to take away any more of the many experiments - try them for yourself 💪

This museum is very cool! It is all about technology. Good service, hands on activities, and it’s accessible! One star removed, as not every sign is bilingual. I would recommend going here if you are in Bonn!

Dave expertly explained the processes involved with Artificial Intelligence, which was now the main thrust of the Deutsches Museum. That said, interesting to see a large chunk of a Cyclotron used by Wolfgang Paul. Awesome.

It is about the size of a supermarket and can be quickly toured. There are other goods besides sweets for children to enjoy. The sweets are a little cheaper than usual.

Great toy store with a huge assortment of Haribo candy. We got over 50 bags for less than 40 EUR. Also love the big mistery boxes (3 and 6kg), the discounted Ritter Sports chocolates and all the Haribo merchandise. Definitely worth a visit ☺️
