Very fun little farm. Great for kids. Demonstrations with the birds were great and the ladies hosting were friendly and informative (including the new lady who fought the nerves away to host for the first time and did a great job). The rest of the staff we dealt with were really friendly too. Barrel rides, owl flights, lots of play equipment, petting zoo, oh and the odd dinosaur kept the kids entertained all morning. Good value for money. Will be back soon to try the tea room.

Today, I had my birthday present from my lovely family. What a fantastic experience. Highlight holding a beautiful Red Kite. Wow moment, having a Bald Eagle land on my hand. Most exciting raptor the amazing Bateleur. Funniest Brian the Brahminy Kite. I met some absolutely beautiful birds. Jake was very interesting and really knows his stuff. Sharon, you need need a medal, dealing with visitors, shop and tearoom pretty much single handed and all with a smile on your face. I can't wait to come back.

What a wonderful day we had on Easter Monday 2022 at Herrings Green Farm! I think it's a fab place to spend time on any given day but for Easter they had set up a fun-filled schedule that all the children loved, including flying displays, tractors rides, animal interactions, an Easter egg hunt and much more. We had children aged 18 months to 12 years and they all said how much they loved it. It is well worth the money and I'd even recommend an annual membership if you live in the area as it is a such a vast space, with different enclosures, various play areas for all ages, a wide variety of animals, especially birds of prey (with all the interesting information provided) and amenities are great. The staff are knowledgeable and kind, the cafe offers lots of options (we brought our own picnic but did try their hot drinks and cake - very good) and there's loads of parking. Something I also noticed is that they offer a staggering amount of activity days, courses and events, like hawking or hunting with eagles, junior animal keeper days. You can also book for schools, birthdays or special events.

We came on Saturday with our little boy and a friend with his little boy, we absolutely loved it such a wonderful farm lots of different animals and bird to see also great play areas for the kids. We loved the shows and the pat a pet, would definitely recommend fir a family day out. we've just booked our son's 7th birthday here he loved it so much thank you ☺️

My Daughter brought a 3 hour experience with Birds of Prey, for my Birthday. Absolutely Fabulous day. The Staff were all friendly and knowledgeable, our guide was Shona), but the real stars of the show were obviously the birds. A large variety from very small to huge, were all on view and were all placed on our gloved hands. I have been to places like this before, but have never found birds that were so at ease with people. You could bring them very close to you and see them in great detail, with no sense of threat or unease with the birds, (who seemed happy and content throughout). An excellent venue, well run and friendly

Had a lovely afternoon out. The bird of prey display was absorbing, educational and entertaining. In the aviaries the birds looked to be well kept and there was plenty of information on the species. The kids loved the rabbit and guinea pig petting session. A tractor ride made a nice break. Once we'd seen everything there was a little obstacle course and play area, again the kids enjoyed this. The only thing I'd say negatively was the food available in the tea shop was pre packaged and of variable quality. OK for a snack but I'd probably eat somewhere else if going again. Overall well worth a visit.

Great selection of birds. Some stunning birds of prey, as for the rest of it, I wouldn’t rush back. Unorganised, scheduled flight display just didn’t happen, when I questioned it was told, it was cancelled due to lack of people and that animal handling would be on in place an hour later. Returned and all that was available was an owl flight. Whilst we enjoyed that, it was a little disappointing. The toilets were filthy, no hand wash, no towels, toilets didn’t flush, there were very few people so no reason why. No signs to direct you to the other animal areas and generally shabby.

Went here for a 3hr experience my bf bought me for Xmas. Unfortunately the day we went it was a bit drizzly and rainy so seems the experience was cut short? We didn't get to fly any birds ourselves as they state in the website and didn't get to see the larger birds of prey fly (like the kites or eagles). Did get to hold an American bald Eagle, 2 large owls and a small falcon. I loved seeing all the different birds but I'd say being a large group means you end up waiting a while for turns. Overall I loved being so close to these birds, there were lots to see from tiny cute owls to massive sea eagles!

Amazing afternoon at Herrings Green Activity! Staff were absolutely lovely and made the experience grand. Wide array of birds allowing for great photography. The midday show was absolutely fantastic! Very informative and a lot of fun getting people involved. If you have kids it’s a perfect day out!

What a great day out. Lots of birds and farm animals to see. Play area for the kids & lots of picnic benches. The bird displays were amazing & the little ones loved the tractor ride & feeding the goats. Getting the opportunity to wear a glove and have a owl on you was definitely everyone's highlight. The toilets were a bit dated (porta cabins in car park) and when we went the car parks seemed full so the chap told us to start a row down the middle! But this is only a small niggle & shouldn't put you off going! Nice tea room selling cakes, sandwiches and ice cream.

Herrings Green Activity Farm and Bird of Prey Activity Centre is a delightful experience that made for a memorable Secret Santa Christmas gift brought for me by my daughters. My gift included a walk with the Alpacas, an Owl experience and tea/coffee cake afterwards. The passion and knowledge the staff have are second to none and share their love and enthusiasm adding to the overall enjoyment. Very friendly and welcoming. The chance to interact with majestic birds of prey was truly captivating. It's a perfect outing for nature enthusiasts and families alike. Highly recommend wearing wellies, although that sounds obvious there were a few people with wet and muddy feet in what looked like new trainers 😮. Parking slight issue due to the wet weather with the overflow car park being flooded. So decided to park on the main road. No fault to the centre as not much they can do about it.

I love this place. Always interactive and plenty of things to do so children can get closer to the animals. The bird displays are amazing! And the animals seem happy as they are all flown daily and get looked after. However I do wonder how often the cages are cleaned. The last time I was there, the red macaw was being kept in a cage far too small for him. However I believe they were making him a much larger area. I sincerely hope this has been done already. Overall though we visit this farm every few months as there is a HUGE amount of birds that are incredible. It's a great afternoon out for kids & adults.

Best to go when good weather, lots of variety of birds, organised groups can experience holding them, interesting displays. Knowledgeable staff. Play area is a little tired, fine for under 8s, but you don't go there for the play area.

A great day out at Herrings Farm. Some amazing, majestic and awesome birds. The highlight was definitely the display and getting the chance to handle the owl. Kids area was fun as was seeing the other farm animals. Kids enjoyed the goat feeding. Was a bit muddy and mushy but that was expected with the current climate. The staff and bird handlers were so friendly and informative. Will return for sure in summer time.

Had a really lovely time here with our group of four on the owl and eagle experience. Sarah was our host and was super knowledgeable about all of the birds as well as making sure we were comfortable when handling them. Highly recommend this experience for meeting these beautiful birds and having the privilege of flying them. The bird flying show was also excellent. Thank you!

Payed for a family falconry experience to find out when we got there that they have no disabled access nor do they accommodate for people in wheelchairs. there is no disabled toilet. The ground is muddy and soft and was unable to joining the activities and some of the poor and hilarious excuses they tried using simply outrageous and was told there’s no manager but I could talk to and have to email them instead reply the food quality in the restaurant is terrible no dietary selections and the presentation well… most of your children can do better

Amazing day out, we went hunting with the Harris hawks and then held and flew eagles, owls and falcons. Carly was absolutely fantastic in explaining the birds to us.

Lots of lovely birds and the show was amazing, very much worth visiting. The staff put on a show twice daily which is fantastic for both adults and children alike and learnt many things about the different types of birds they have and what they can do.

Excellent coffee, friendly staff, lovely walks and views and the parking was reasonable. Will definitely return. Might bring bikes next time as there's a useful bike maintenance point.

We held my daughter's wedding ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening reception here. Helen and her team were amazing, going above and beyond to ensure the day ran smoothly for us. The venue was beautiful set up, spotlessly clean and felt very private away from visitors to the centre. The food was delicious and everything arrived on time and hot. No problem with special dietary requirements. I would thoroughly recommend the Forest Centre as a beautiful location to host a wedding with an outstanding team of staff who felt more like friends.

A lovely place with a safe and well maintained route around the lake, suitable for cycling, running or walking. Swimming not allowed unfortunately but you could sneak in

Great place to come, 1 lap of the lake is a decent walk around 5km. Would be good for bikes. Paid car park, free spaces dotted around the lake. Didn’t seem to be any issue from the huge furnace nearby.

Decent variety of food, hot & cold plus a mini bar and kids box selection. Not too dear, chicken wrap & chips £6.70 Very big indoor café & benches outdoor too - right next to a children’s play area with climbing frame etc. There’s also a gift shop & ice cream freezer. The walks around the lakes are nice but you can’t actually see the water which is a real shame, it’s fenced off which probably makes it safer but you can only see the wooden fence & reeds. Still a nice walk & some nice woodland though! Car park £2 for 3 hours.

Great place to take the kids this summer. Local to us, and helped us massively with a last minute room hire for my child’s birthday party. We had a good sized room for 50 people and the accommodated with furniture arrangements and requests. The receptionist Fiona was extremely helpful and professional. There’s a good cafe to have lunch and hot drinks, and they have recently refurbished the children’s playground. Great outdoor space with picnic tables so you can bring your dogs with you. I would highly recommend the Forest Centre.

Lovely walking routes with some beautiful scenery across the lake. Perfect for a weekend stroll. The Forest Centre itself is also a nice place to have a coffee with a dedicated quieter space upstairs. They have a range of alternative milks for hot drinks and also have a large food menu including vegan options. Great for kids too with a colouring station for rainy days and a gated play area for sunny days.

This was a good walk around the lake. There are good paths so you don't have to walk in mud which is good after all the rain we have had. The parking was £2 for 3 hours.

Went over for a walk round Stewartby lake. Paths were reasonably dry considering the amount of rain, well signposted and easy to navigate. Flat all the way. Kids area looked nice, will definitely take my grandchildren when it's a bit warmer. Didn't use the cafe so can't comment but there were plenty of people out drinking coffee.

Great little nature reserve. Always enjoy it. Even better now the Marsh Harriers appear to be back.

Arrived about 11:00 am plenty of car parking. Walked from Forest centre to the view point at foot of wind turbine. Beautiful view of the lake from there we followed the lakeside pathway and found a nice secluded spot by the waters edge. Had a lovely picnic spent an hour or so reading a book and admiring the view. Strolled back to the forest centre and finished the day with a cream tea for two. Great day out thoroughly enjoyed it. Left around 15:00.

Another fantastic experience today. Absolutely love this place. We've been for the chilli tasting tour before and today we did the chilli growers workshop and it was informative, interesting and fun. Shawn has a wonderful approach and is really knowledgeable. We had a brilliant time. Excellent value for money as well and we bought loads of amazing sauces and dips and jams and left with ideas for how to improve our own chilli growing season.

I feel so much more confident in knowing what I will need to do this growing season. The chilli cream teas looked lovely. Can't wait to come back in August!

Had a fantastic time on the ‘Cooking with chillies made simple’ workshop. The owners were very knowledgeable, open and friendly. There was plenty to do on the workshop and we had a lovely day out. All in all great experience and I learned a lot. They also sell chilli plants and sauces on site which is really handy, including their own home grown sauces from their own chilli harvest. I only wish I turned up sooner so I could relax in the café, not to worry as I’ll definitely be revisiting at some point.

Fantastic little gem of a place. Warmly welcomed by owners Shawn and Joanne. So knowledgeable and enthusiastic for their passion on Chilli's. I took my child who has special needs and they could not have been any more welcoming. Spent time to have conversation and gave a little education. I would highly recommend a visit especially if you dare to taste the hot chilli's. They have a nice selection of chilli's to choose from. Just advise that parking is small but don't be put off. I'll definitely be visiting them again as they have won me over with their warm welcome and politeness. The jar in photo is a sauce I made with my son including the Carolina Reaper. 🔥 🔥 🔥 Keep it up 👍🏻

Visited the Chilli Farm for afternoon tea and a tour of the chilli farm. Overall it was a great experience. Joanna who is the owner of the farm and our guide for the tour was really informative and has a real passion for chillies. After a short talk about the various variety of chillies, we had a sampling session in the cafe of various chillies, chilli sauces and marmalades, starting from the mildest up to the hottest…the Carolina Reaper! There was plenty of milk on hand should you need it! Afternoon tea was lovely, a variety of sandwiches all made with various chilli based sauces and marmalades. Would certainly recommend for an afternoon out.

We made it our New Year resolution to review the best experience we had in 2023 - and it was this chilli tasting and tour at Edible Ornamentals we went to in November 2023! The owners' passion for chillis was infectious - the variety of chillis we learned about was enormous, and we were able to taste a wide array (5+ chillis tasted and at least 9 sauces)! An incredibly fun and unique experience that has now inspired us to start growing some of our own chilli plants :) - Matt & Roz

Loved it from beginning to end, deserves more than 5 stars ! Went on the chilli tasting tour for two. Shaun the owner gave us a very informative talk on how to grow chillies from seed, then we had a tour of the farm and picked our own chillies. After that we went into their shop, tried their huge range of sauces followed by chilli tasting, from mild to hottest in the world! After that we had some amazing food in the restaurant. Definitely going back.

A beautiful park. A nice walk, jog, run even cycle! Great for kids! Lot of wildlife..great people, lots of friendly dogs about. This park is well worth the visit, even if your from far away...you will not be disappointed! Cafe gives a nice touch. Great coffee and cakes!

A lovely nature reserve for a relaxing picnic and stroll. Lots of interesting birds, insects and flora. The ice cream tubs available at the cafe are produced locally and are delicious.

We enjoyed a family day at Harrold Odell Country Park. Plenty of picnic tables near the car park and a children's play area at hand too. We purchased from the café activity parks for the children, boys aged 7 and 9. These kept them looking for things as we walked round the lake, so good. In fact the 9 year old wants to go back to spot the the things he didn't see to get more points in the booklet. Many lovely wood carving to see as you walk round and another play area half way round the lake. The boys took their skateboards as there's also a small skateboard park. A very enjoyable day.

Called in this morning for a mid ride tea stop. It's a popular country park and for good reason. Lovely quaint cafe with some indoor seating but plenty of outdoor benches too. Wide open spaces for dog walkers and other activities. Staff in the cafe were very busy but coped admirably and were very friendly. Plenty on the menu from cakes to the full English. Perfect in the Autumn sunshine.

Firstly there's loads of spaces. There's an over flow car park too. I used the postcode MK43 7DS. I used this in my phone which is up to date, and it says the entrance is the other side of the road, which it isn't.. so look out for the small " country park " sign. The car park is free, but you can donate £1 if you'd like. It's not a massive place, but you can do many other walks from here too around the ouse valley way. Dogs welcome. Children welcome. Mother-in-laws welcome. Dog bins provided. Dog on lead and off lead areas. Toilets available. Cafe available. Picnic benches available. Sitting benches around the lake. Small children's play area available. Paths all the way around the main lake. Suitable for normal footwear and prams. There's even a small ramp if you feel like bringing your skateboard... !! It does get fairly busy at the weekends, so get there early if you'd like some peace and quiet. saying that, it's not really big enough for an all day event, and you can walk around it in 40 minutes, and thats at a snails pace !!

Often pop here on bike rides. Lovely cafe / shop with toilets. An outside gym for adults and climbing frames for kids.

The park itself is wonderful. Very scenic and dog friendly. The absence of litter is a treat. The only downside is the price of beverages and food in the cafe. Why are they so expensive.

Well to start with HELLO PARKING. Donations only! Could teach the other country parks a thing or two. I donated the suggested £1 because I think that's more than fair for the hour I spent. Other places charge £3-£4 for up to 4 hours but if you don't stay long, that's a rip off. So thank you Harrold O'Dell for that! Cafe and play area on site. Plenty of seating on the walk round; which takes 45-60 mins at leisurely pace with a few breaks in-between. Gorgeous views and friendly visitors.

Fabulous park. Took my mum who needs a wheelchair and she loved it. We had lunch in the dragonfly cafe,purchased some duck food and fed the ducks and swans then went for a walk. Lovely place to visit for everyone. My only small complaint is that the paths are quite bumpy for a wheelchair user but otherwise I would thoroughly recommend the park to everyone.

Me and my grandson had a great day. Midweek there's plenty of parking its free, but you can make a donation 👍🏻Toilets and café at the start, we bought a "Spot it" book which my grandson enjoyed filling in as he spotted different things on our walk around the lake. Only 30p for a bag of bird food 🦆🦢 Great for young and old, will definitely visit again.

Lovely clean and tidy country park. The circular walk around the main lake takes less than an hour. The path is hard stand so suitable for walking cycling pushchairs and wheelchair users. A couple of smaller lakes too, if you don't mind the mud this time of year, you may see the heron too. Free car parking too which is a plus point these days. Nice cafe on site, prices are what you expect them to be, £3 latte not that bad. Can imagine it gets very busy in the good weather.

Lovely place to wander round with kids and also alone. Lots of room to cycle around the lakes and lots of routes to choose from. Lots of birds and wildlife around and a nice little cafe to refuel at. Also a brewers fare nearby the top end of the lake which has a little bird feeding area that you can sit with the birds if you dare! There are 4 car parks and all are free of charge according to the information leaflets.

Beautiful place to walk, run, ride, have picnics. The paths are tarmac so nice and even to use for buggies bikes and wheelchairs. Huge lake with plenty of ducks, geese, and swans to feed and a nature reserve, too. There are other lakes to walk around too and a lovely marina where you can see the boats. I'm not sure if they still actually sell boats there, though. A cafe, serving hot and cold drinks, ice cream and snacks, overlooks the lake, and its very nice too. The closing times depend on the amount of business. If its busy they stay open later. There are public loo's and plenty of parking. There is also a Beefeater on the grounds that serves a lovely Sunday roast! There is a sailing club on the lake as well. A beautiful space for all to enjoy

Loved it! Good area to go walking keep in mind that cyclists also use the same walking lane as the pedestrians however it's well sign posted with priority given to walkers. Lots of ducks & swans live here and there is plenty of benches scattered around the walking lane should you chose to take a rest. I loved the views and there's also the added benefit of a coffee shop to stop by at during your walk as well as a Beefeater should you feel the need for a beverage or/and a meal 😊 Almost forgot check out the marina nearby as well

Recently visited Priory Country Park in Bedford, and I've got to say, it was an amazing experience! This place is a hidden gem. The park is beautifully maintained, and the natural surroundings are just stunning. The lakes and walking trails provide a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. One thing that really impressed me was how clean and well-kept the park is. It's clear that the staff here take great care of the place. I also loved the fact that you can spot various wildlife species around, which adds to the park's charm. If you're into birdwatching, you're in for a treat. The walking paths are clearly marked, making it easy to explore the park at your own pace. There are also picnic areas and plenty of benches, making it a perfect spot for families to enjoy. All in all, Priory Country Park in Bedford is a must-visit. It's a tranquil haven for nature lovers, outdoor enthusiasts, and families. I highly recommend it.

Would have liked to have given a higher rating, as the views and area is lovely. But with careless dog owners letting them off their leashes to run around and foul everywhere, without picking it up.. leaving their mess right in the centre of the paths, it's not good!

A very nice park with stunning lake view. You can eat, drink, walk, rest, etc. Also you can see lots of bunnies and ducks around. There is a Marine inside the park. You may have a chance to collect some blackberries in late July, early August. A very good option to spend some time with family.

Beautiful place to take a walk. So much so, I choose to walk the dog there most days. Lots of huge, very old trees and interesting foliage. Plenty of pathways in and around the place. All in all, a pretty view whichever way you look. Two decent playgrounds for the kids. One at the leisure centre end is pretty decent, and the other one at the far end just past the duck pond, was renovated and modernised last year, so lots of new stuff for kids to enjoy. There are exercise groups there most mornings during the week and it's the location for the Bedford Park Run every Saturday morning at 9am sharp. The cafe in the park is also good. It serves good food and drinks in a pretty setting. It's generally just a nice place to be.

Fantastic area. Big green areas, small forests, tennis courts and a cafe. Cafe could offer more in terms of food, but still OK for drinks and location. Play area for the kids is great. Parking nearby can be an issue though

Lovely park and worth a visit. Went for an evening of music - which was excellent. Simply Red and Lisa Stansfield didn’t disappoint. The usual variety of food and drink within - naturally hugely overpriced. Plenty of entry and exit points and the park well signed to find. Worth a visit.

Lovely park, enough big to have your own space and silance in privacy. Always a pleasure to walk around. Would be better to have few coffees or shops in the park or very close to. Is nothing around if you need something to buy.

We are still very new in Bedford. But this is one place my kids found really refreshing as the love Nature! The huge park is good for walks, cycling, or scooter rides, picnics on a sunny day. There are some playgrounds there as well. Some people brought their dogs for a walk. Had fun visiting. Car parking is not a problem, which is something i noticed is a challenge in Bedford.

Visited the park for a walk around and a play in the updated accessible play area. The park is lovely and well maintained, there is a small kids play area by the car park, parking free for 3 hours is a bonus, but get a ticket first from the machine! There is a cafe in the middle with toilets you can use and another 20p toilet near the bigger play area on the other end. The new play area is lovely and well thought out with seating for parents. The ice cream van is usually parked at the entrance on this side. Great paths for scooting or roller blading, ducks to feed by the pond and loads of spaces for ball games or just running around. A great park, we are lucky to have it.

Great place for a walk! 🚶Space for outdoor games of all kinds, plenty of benches for rest or just sit and watch the world go by. And a lake with swans and ducks who are happy to be fed! Great place to spend an hour or 5! 👍🙂

We went for Sting concert. Was organised well, food and drink was amazing and delicious. Toilets was clean and much better what we expected. Wifi was difficult to use and wasn't working and no signal. This technical issue makes a very long queue because our ticket for this venue was online, screen shot not acceptable. I was lucky because I saved my ticket to the google wallet and it's opened quickly without signal. But we saw mostly all people had issues to show the ticket. Gate opened at 5pm concert started aroung 9pm. Anyway it was amazing. I'm sure we will go back soon for another concert. Thank you.

Actually, I had a fantastic time here. The price of things is just getting to be a little pricey. One of the biggest let downs no baby changing facilities... this blew my mind knowing ita a family event I thought this was very bad. But all in all a good time had by all

Fully enjoyed the day for Sting's concert today in the park. Excellent organization, clean facilities, many volunteers to help people around before and after the event.

Went to see the Jacksons and sister sledge here nice park with picnic tables and plenty space to pick a spot and put you chairs or a blanket down. Lot of food choices and a big bar don't get the wine as its poor quality and well overpriced!!! Overall a good evening 👍🏼

Fab museum with lots of different exhibitions. We went to a pop up one today. Free entry and the staff are lovely and very helpful

Great free museum showing off art, old technology, fossils, local historic finds and famous faces of the town. An old victorian house with lots of fascinating items of the eravis attached to the main building. Look out for the ghosts... It is known as the most haunted place in Bedford! During the holidays they normally have different events for the family, and attached is a lovely Italian restaurant 😋 Nearby are other bars and restaurants. It's also next to the historic Bedford mound and Bedford embankment. Well worth a visit or two.

This is such a great place to learn the history about Bedford. The items here are so amazing and mind boggling, you would love it. Families and kids are welcome here. This is where you must spend your time whenever you visit Bedford.

Lovely museum with plenty of things to see. My son is home schooled and he loves to go there and see different objects from the periods that we are learning about in our History lessons. It is always calm and peaceful there and itnis absolutely free although a small donation will be appreciated.

Brilliant museum with an excellent collection. Well laid out, with clear information. In addition to galleries telling the story of Bedford and the region, there are some remarkable specialist collections. The arts & crafts and gothic revival furniture are wonderful. The Bawden gallery is a great treat too. Level access throughout. All is fresh, tidy and accessible to all. Best of all, it is FREE!

This is an interesting free museum housed in a former Brewery and has information about the Bedford area and notable residents.

THE HIGGINS MODERN ART EXHIBITION A friend and I went to see the modern art exhibition at the Higgins in Bedford. You may not appreciate modern art but please give this collection a chance. It's free to enter, so you have everything to gain to broaden your knowledge of art. Discussing the art with my friend afterwards, we could both see a lot more in many of the pieces than we had first thought. Many of the artists are British, including work by David Hockney.

A gem in the heart of Bedford. Perhaps I missed it, but hoped for a little more connection between the arty exhibits and Bedford. Such as why particular artists gifted to the museum with no apparent local connection.

Fascinating , quite unique , peaceful place. I walked around with a smile. Took the brain in unusual directions. Funny old world. Couldn't help but wonder if Spike Milligan had ever visited.........

Fantastic experience really felt like stepping back in time ,the rooms and houses made you feel you were stepping back 100 years and the gardens or should that be the garden of Eden? were lovely. Of course the main interest was the Panacea society a religious cult which we knew very little about but the information boards and videos built a real picture of a group who followed Octavia and lived in Bedford but at their peak had influence through the country and around the world.

5+ star visit. Highly recommended. Very interesting museum to visit if you go to Bedford. It is surprising to see how people have lived and built this community/cult however you call it and how it ceased after so many decades. Garden of Eden was believed to be here… and a lot of interesting stories..

Quirky and fascinating museum, read the story on their website and be prepared to be intrigued and surprised! But what's in the box??

I recently visited for the second time as there is so much to see and lots of information to take in . The exhibition within the beautiful building is well laid out, the interpretation panels clear with plenty of photos and illustrations. It is a fascinating place. The “ Garden of Eden “ really was inspiring, private, interesting old trees, it’s own club room and chapel. The cafe was full of books and pictures, well priced tasty refreshments and a lovely young woman serving there, we had a long and interesting conversation. Each member of staff I met while there was helpful and knowledgeable, really keen to answer my questions and explain in depth. I will definitely be back to this wonderful museum 😊

A fascinating museum, charting the life and times of a highly eccentric religious society. Set in the Panacea Society's former residencies, it contains many information packed rooms, pictorial displays, a beautifully kept garden and the society's chapel. Many of the rooms have been restored to look as they had in the society's heyday. The Founder"s House, home of the 'prophet' Octavia, almost feels as though it could still be inhabited. There's a charming tea room too. And it's free. What's not to like?!

This is an interesting museum set in a Victorian house and garden that once housed a religious group founded by women.

Fantastic museum which gives an interesting insight into the Panacea society and its matriarch Mabel Barltrop. Would highly recommend.

This site was a very good visit, different and interesting. It’s free entry, no tickets needed. In summary, it’s the HQ of a “end of the world” religious group, from earlier times. Beautifully maintained Victorian house, garden, and chapel. Recommended.

Great fun for all the family, take your pick from baby pool, pirate ship, wave pool, lazy river, rapids (outdoor), Twister, Typhoon, Tropical Cyclone (for the daring) or do all of them over and over again! Good to kill an hour or spend all day there. Still lovely and warm even when freezing outside. Lots of seats. Decent food and drink from cafe or Starbucks.

Nice area. Long walk down to pool area from changing room and pool seems smaller then other parks. Small child areas are very good. Water flumes kids loved and outside rapids ni e and warm.

We went for a 5 day staycation to Woburn and went to subtropical paradise on day 5. I do wish I’d known earlier, as it’s great for people who want to use the facilities and also lots of space for people who just want to take photos or sit down and not get in the water (which I didn’t know about until going in). Also, by the by, it was free! This is actually part of the package unlike all the rest of the activities which you have to pay for. My three star review is only through comparison with the Longleat Center Parcs. I strongly recommend adding a whirlpool and raising the temperature of the outdoor rapids. If both of these happened I think the pool would be level with the others. A good choice of slides but nowhere to go for a 'proper' swim, the main pool is too small and aimed more at children. The wild rapids are a lot of fun but I think the water temperature could be turned up a degree or two as it was cold unless you stayed underwater up to your shoulders constantly (quite impossible when you're being chucked about on the rapids), due to them being outside. There is a pirate ship with slides and also a pool for very small children but there aren't many places to sit or attractions for adults- such as a jacuzzi, luckily we came at a quiet time, it must be difficult to move in peak times. The lazy river is too short in my opinion and the hydro features blasting in your face take away the relaxation element of it. It was good but I preferred Whinfells' pool and would like to try another CP such as Sherwood in the future.

While the abundance of slides and play areas are perfect for kids seeking excitement, the absence of a standard swimming pool may be a letdown for those interested in swimming as a sport. This is something we missed during our time at the swimming paradise. As parents, we appreciated the peace of mind that came from knowing our children were in good hands while they enjoyed the thrilling slides. For those seeking refreshments or a bite to eat, the Subtropical Swimming Paradise offers two options: Starbucks and the Canopy Bar. However, like most establishments within Center Parcs, the prices for food and beverages are on the higher side. This may be a concern for some visitors, but if you don't mind the cost or choose not to indulge, it doesn't detract from the overall experience. In conclusion, the Subtropical Swimming Paradise at Woburn Center Parcs provides a delightful and safe environment for families with relatively young children. Older children and young adults might find the activities repetitive after a while, but for those seeking a fun-filled, family-friendly aquatic adventure, it's a great destination.

It was spectacular! I enjoyed every slide, every moment, every pool.it would be perfect if you let it not be only for Center parks people

Lovely swimming pool, very clean, lots of staff. Plenty to do. The outdoor rapids where good (rather fast). I think there where 5 different flumes to try. Then about 6 smaller slides for the younger children. The main central pool has waves every 30mins, rather full on and tricky to keep hold of a younger child .... but the children love it so good luck adults ! I highly recommend making it a daily regular visit while your at centre parcs !

Superb. Nice place for whole family. Lot of activities, swimming pools inside and outside. Cottages very nice and clean. Only minus - contact-less wristbands not working with any shop inside, so you need payment card or cash..

Fantastic time here with all the family. Both my children are normally anxious when swimming. But they had an amazing time, and were very confident in all 3 sections of the pools.

Very fun little farm. Great for kids. Demonstrations with the birds were great and the ladies hosting were friendly and informative (including the new lady who fought the nerves away to host for the first time and did a great job). The rest of the staff we dealt with were really friendly too. Barrel rides, owl flights, lots of play equipment, petting zoo, oh and the odd dinosaur kept the kids entertained all morning. Good value for money. Will be back soon to try the tea room.

Today, I had my birthday present from my lovely family. What a fantastic experience. Highlight holding a beautiful Red Kite. Wow moment, having a Bald Eagle land on my hand. Most exciting raptor the amazing Bateleur. Funniest Brian the Brahminy Kite. I met some absolutely beautiful birds. Jake was very interesting and really knows his stuff. Sharon, you need need a medal, dealing with visitors, shop and tearoom pretty much single handed and all with a smile on your face. I can't wait to come back.

What a wonderful day we had on Easter Monday 2022 at Herrings Green Farm! I think it's a fab place to spend time on any given day but for Easter they had set up a fun-filled schedule that all the children loved, including flying displays, tractors rides, animal interactions, an Easter egg hunt and much more. We had children aged 18 months to 12 years and they all said how much they loved it. It is well worth the money and I'd even recommend an annual membership if you live in the area as it is a such a vast space, with different enclosures, various play areas for all ages, a wide variety of animals, especially birds of prey (with all the interesting information provided) and amenities are great. The staff are knowledgeable and kind, the cafe offers lots of options (we brought our own picnic but did try their hot drinks and cake - very good) and there's loads of parking. Something I also noticed is that they offer a staggering amount of activity days, courses and events, like hawking or hunting with eagles, junior animal keeper days. You can also book for schools, birthdays or special events.

We came on Saturday with our little boy and a friend with his little boy, we absolutely loved it such a wonderful farm lots of different animals and bird to see also great play areas for the kids. We loved the shows and the pat a pet, would definitely recommend fir a family day out. we've just booked our son's 7th birthday here he loved it so much thank you ☺️

My Daughter brought a 3 hour experience with Birds of Prey, for my Birthday. Absolutely Fabulous day. The Staff were all friendly and knowledgeable, our guide was Shona), but the real stars of the show were obviously the birds. A large variety from very small to huge, were all on view and were all placed on our gloved hands. I have been to places like this before, but have never found birds that were so at ease with people. You could bring them very close to you and see them in great detail, with no sense of threat or unease with the birds, (who seemed happy and content throughout). An excellent venue, well run and friendly

Had a lovely afternoon out. The bird of prey display was absorbing, educational and entertaining. In the aviaries the birds looked to be well kept and there was plenty of information on the species. The kids loved the rabbit and guinea pig petting session. A tractor ride made a nice break. Once we'd seen everything there was a little obstacle course and play area, again the kids enjoyed this. The only thing I'd say negatively was the food available in the tea shop was pre packaged and of variable quality. OK for a snack but I'd probably eat somewhere else if going again. Overall well worth a visit.

Great selection of birds. Some stunning birds of prey, as for the rest of it, I wouldn’t rush back. Unorganised, scheduled flight display just didn’t happen, when I questioned it was told, it was cancelled due to lack of people and that animal handling would be on in place an hour later. Returned and all that was available was an owl flight. Whilst we enjoyed that, it was a little disappointing. The toilets were filthy, no hand wash, no towels, toilets didn’t flush, there were very few people so no reason why. No signs to direct you to the other animal areas and generally shabby.

Went here for a 3hr experience my bf bought me for Xmas. Unfortunately the day we went it was a bit drizzly and rainy so seems the experience was cut short? We didn't get to fly any birds ourselves as they state in the website and didn't get to see the larger birds of prey fly (like the kites or eagles). Did get to hold an American bald Eagle, 2 large owls and a small falcon. I loved seeing all the different birds but I'd say being a large group means you end up waiting a while for turns. Overall I loved being so close to these birds, there were lots to see from tiny cute owls to massive sea eagles!

Amazing afternoon at Herrings Green Activity! Staff were absolutely lovely and made the experience grand. Wide array of birds allowing for great photography. The midday show was absolutely fantastic! Very informative and a lot of fun getting people involved. If you have kids it’s a perfect day out!

What a great day out. Lots of birds and farm animals to see. Play area for the kids & lots of picnic benches. The bird displays were amazing & the little ones loved the tractor ride & feeding the goats. Getting the opportunity to wear a glove and have a owl on you was definitely everyone's highlight. The toilets were a bit dated (porta cabins in car park) and when we went the car parks seemed full so the chap told us to start a row down the middle! But this is only a small niggle & shouldn't put you off going! Nice tea room selling cakes, sandwiches and ice cream.

Herrings Green Activity Farm and Bird of Prey Activity Centre is a delightful experience that made for a memorable Secret Santa Christmas gift brought for me by my daughters. My gift included a walk with the Alpacas, an Owl experience and tea/coffee cake afterwards. The passion and knowledge the staff have are second to none and share their love and enthusiasm adding to the overall enjoyment. Very friendly and welcoming. The chance to interact with majestic birds of prey was truly captivating. It's a perfect outing for nature enthusiasts and families alike. Highly recommend wearing wellies, although that sounds obvious there were a few people with wet and muddy feet in what looked like new trainers 😮. Parking slight issue due to the wet weather with the overflow car park being flooded. So decided to park on the main road. No fault to the centre as not much they can do about it.

I love this place. Always interactive and plenty of things to do so children can get closer to the animals. The bird displays are amazing! And the animals seem happy as they are all flown daily and get looked after. However I do wonder how often the cages are cleaned. The last time I was there, the red macaw was being kept in a cage far too small for him. However I believe they were making him a much larger area. I sincerely hope this has been done already. Overall though we visit this farm every few months as there is a HUGE amount of birds that are incredible. It's a great afternoon out for kids & adults.

Best to go when good weather, lots of variety of birds, organised groups can experience holding them, interesting displays. Knowledgeable staff. Play area is a little tired, fine for under 8s, but you don't go there for the play area.

A great day out at Herrings Farm. Some amazing, majestic and awesome birds. The highlight was definitely the display and getting the chance to handle the owl. Kids area was fun as was seeing the other farm animals. Kids enjoyed the goat feeding. Was a bit muddy and mushy but that was expected with the current climate. The staff and bird handlers were so friendly and informative. Will return for sure in summer time.

Had a really lovely time here with our group of four on the owl and eagle experience. Sarah was our host and was super knowledgeable about all of the birds as well as making sure we were comfortable when handling them. Highly recommend this experience for meeting these beautiful birds and having the privilege of flying them. The bird flying show was also excellent. Thank you!

Payed for a family falconry experience to find out when we got there that they have no disabled access nor do they accommodate for people in wheelchairs. there is no disabled toilet. The ground is muddy and soft and was unable to joining the activities and some of the poor and hilarious excuses they tried using simply outrageous and was told there’s no manager but I could talk to and have to email them instead reply the food quality in the restaurant is terrible no dietary selections and the presentation well… most of your children can do better

Amazing day out, we went hunting with the Harris hawks and then held and flew eagles, owls and falcons. Carly was absolutely fantastic in explaining the birds to us.

Lots of lovely birds and the show was amazing, very much worth visiting. The staff put on a show twice daily which is fantastic for both adults and children alike and learnt many things about the different types of birds they have and what they can do.

I love this place and it's subject: John Bunyan! Every time I get a chance to take a friend who's visiting the UK from overseas, I go back, and every time I go back, I learn, see and notice something new about the incredible life of this remarkable man of God, his battles, his accomplishments, his priceless literature and lots more, it never gets old for me! He is not only a local hero, but an international well known preacher and writer (he wrote the #1 most read book only 2nd to the Bible) "The Pilgrims Progress" among many others! This is certainly a fantastic place to visit when you can, as you walk around this little gem of a museum, receiving infos from the very dedicated team of volunteers, you're being transported back to a hard and difficult time when he, along with other heroes of the faith lived, battled the religious establishment, cried, suffered and eventually died at relatively young ages, but not before leaving for us, incredible legacies that we so enjoy seeing today

Excellent history of a truly remarkable book. Old and young find this a fascinating read still, centuries later. The history of Bunyan in the time of Charles I, II and Cromwell is well worth a listen too if you ask for a guide to run through it for you.

Went to the gallery in the basement to see an exhibition on what artists made during lockdown. Really worthwhile going, 2D, 3D and film work. Open Friday and Saturday 10 & 11 December 11- 4pm. Last day on Saturday

A short, sweet and very interesting tour of the life of John Bunyan, author of passages including the Pilgrims Progress. The Museum gives you information about his upbringing, all the way through to his death, with visual elements giving you an idea of what it was like throughout his life. The guide was very knowledgeable and grateful for taking an interest in John Bunyans life, highly recommended.

A small museum with a small exhibition. I'm not quite sure if the exposition reflects the path (pilgrimage) of John Bunyan, but it shows the features of the life of his time. The museum is located on the territory of the functioning church "Bunyan Meeting Free Church" in the left wing of the building.

It's a beautifully refurbished of a historical building near the river Ouse, Bedford. John Bunyan Museum is a must visit in Bedford, which primarily dedicated to the life, times and works of John Bunyan (1628-88), an English writer and Puritan preacher, who best remembered as the author of the Christian allegory The Pilgrim's Progress. Previously the Church was a barn in an orchard in Mill Street. Then in 1672 the congregation bought it & where the Church remains to this day on this site with the name of Bunyan Meeting. Bunyan began his work as a minister of this Church in the same year.

Russell Park in Bedford is an absolute gem! I've spent countless relaxing hours here. The lush greenery, serene lake, and well-maintained paths make it the perfect escape from city life. It's a great spot for picnics, leisurely walks, or simply unwinding by the water. The park is always clean and beautifully landscaped. The friendly atmosphere and the occasional events held here add to its charm. Whether you're a local or just visiting, Russell Park is a must-visit. I can't recommend it enough! 🌳🌞🚣‍♀️

Really nice park, now that its had some renovations it is really fun to be in. One of our favourite parks in Bedford due to the range of children’s equipment. Clean and well maintained always a pleasure to visit this particular park.

It is good to spend alone with the birds. Birds are just God's gift to us and are so majestic and beautiful. When I get there to feed these birds they come in many and are not scared of me. I even pet them they seem un-bothered. Though the swans and geese have sharp beaks sometimes got to be careful. They're quite strong as I fed a bit hard baguette bread and integral one which they can break, though when is a bit hard they go to the water to sip it so that the bread becomes soft to chew. The seagulls make loud noise as a calling or insert dominance to each other and fight. They go crazy when I feed normal doughnuts sometimes or sweet breads round ones. I love when I throw/drop the bread one of the seagull catches it and immediately other seagulls begin to chase. When they get the bread they begin to fly at high speed in such dive flight. They do zig-zag in flight which almost got one of the seagull hit the bridge. They have such reflexes when they fly. Also noticed they fly in high altitude to not let other seagulls catch them and sometimes they seem to descend fast and then flap the wings ascending up again. It is more like a chasing sport some sort of who is faster. And that got some others' attention to see the seagulls chasing other seagulls with breads. I really enjoyed staying near the lake relaxing listening the music. When folks pass by they take pics and are very happy. It's a beautiful place. I give it 5 stars.

The Embankment is extremely beautiful. It is great for walks or photography. I enjoyed looking at the swans, ducks and gulls. You can sit and read or watch teams practice their rowing. It is very near to hotels and restaurants in Bedford. Personally, I think the best time to visit is on a Saturday when there is market. There is a homeliness with the market, the coffee vendors, you can get fresh bread, have a seat and enjoy the morning. This can be completed with a visit to the city center and it's shops.

Lovely area of natural beauty, loads of swans, lovely walks around and bridges too, loads of benches to sit, weekdays is a good time to walk if you want a bit of peace and quiet.

A nice, large, well maintained park, next to the river. Traffic and parking is not good when there is a large event - you might need to park and walk 10-15 minutes.

We came here after visiting the cat cafe. It was cute! The car festival was on and we had a picnic by the water.

Free parking for up to 2 hours which was plenty of time needed for us to have a lovely stroll along the river in the shade of the trees. Lots of wild birds especially swans, geese and ducks.

Stunning park. My children are aged 2 to 10 and all had a ball after a lovely walk spotting lots of birds next to canal. There is a toilet next to the kiosk. My friend and I even enjoyed a ride and slide or two. Lots of fun.

Quant and beautiful building and churchyard cemetery. Was visiting Bedford from the USA, walking from Bedford train station toward my hotel, but had to stop on this cold Saturday afternoon to look at the headstones and read about the history of this parish and area. Beautiful, especially for those like me who love history. Wished I was able to go inside, but it wasn’t open.

A very calming atmosphere which was notable and a visual masterpiece. It was clear that the congregation are devoted as the church proudly their art work could be purchased. Definitely worth taking the time to have a look.

Very dingy building. Main door locked shut during event! Isn't this unlawful? Fire alarms kept going off! Wouldn't go back!

Wonderful church building right in the centre of Bedford. Very impressive organ, went to a classical organ music concert and thoroughly enjoyed it. Sounds excellent in that building, pity you can see the organist as the console is up in the air and out of sight. Pity they haven't thought of a CCTV link to a large screen in the centre aisle of the church so the audience can see what he's doing!

What a surprise this place was - fun small trains of various types to ride and smaller ones to watch in a really nicely planned setting, and the bonus - it's not expensive!

Great little railway tucked away off the main road. Take a miniature train to depart from Haynes End up to Hammer Hill to see even more trains. A fantastic little gem enjoyed by all the family, especially the little ones. Full of enthusiastic members and volunteers. Check their website for open days as they’re not open everyday. Nice little cafe serving tea/coffee and snacks. Unfortunately, when we were there (sept 2021) they couldn’t serve sandwiches, meals, etc.

Verybnice place to spend few hours with the kids..two station miniature rails, a big area for picnic with tables, a cafe and accessible toilet

It's run by some lovely volunteers, they are extremely busy on the open days, it's very popular & parking can be a mare at times, well worth a visit with the youngsters for an inexpensive time or with the little ones. One tip I would give is take a picnic, unless you like sausage rolls.

Its good to see the steam trains good for about hr n half not much to do but it was worth doing

What a wonderful place to spend a good couple of hours. Great fun for all ages to travel on miniature steam trains plus electric ones. Cost of rides is really good value. There is also a clubhouse on site serving hot/cold drinks, light snacks and ice cream, or you can picnic here. Plenty of on-site parking.

We always visit Mowsbury Park whether with the dog, the children or both! Plenty of things to see and do with lots of open space! The only real negative is the opening of the cafe are very poor, they were closed today on a bank holiday Monday when the park was heaving🤷🏻‍♂️ if it rains they're closed, poor weather it's closed, I get that the staff need time off as well but I'm sure others who visit would pop in for a drink and food more if it was open more🤷🏻‍♂️

Lovely park for the kids. Parking available plus free so that makes a change!! Plenty of picnic tables, benches. Plus grass area for blanket and sit under trees in the shade. Grandkids love it here. Very popular park as was quite busy all making the most out of the sunshine.

Really enjoyed the trail through enclosed area- Children love the adventure. Is 'dog friendly' but some owners can be somewhat careless

Great place for walking your dog! People here are always friendly! And there's a lot of space for those not wanting to see anybody!

Amazing park. Beautifully maintained and pretty spacious to spend time with friends and family. It is also an amazing place for tourists and those who wish to spend some lone time in the midst of nature or simply enjoy some fresh air. It can be busy mostly weekends but nothing out of the usual. Be sure to carry a bottle of water and some sneaks as long as you are conscious of using the bins to keep it clean.

Nice place, good cafe for coffee and sandwiches. Be careful if you're there on a Sunday afternoon, you may notice lots of people dressed in armour fighting each other with shields and swords. They're Normannis reenactors. Go and say hello! Normally happy to introduce you to the hobby.

First visit as new to Bedford. I enjoyed a coffee in the cafe & well done for providing butter with the scone! So many places don't. Well maintained park with loos & plenty of benches & bins. I will go again 🙂

Excellent play area for the kids and the food at the cafe was lovely.
