Came to Maribor on our return trip and stopped here thinking you can drink wine from the oldest grape vine in the world. Get here to be told it is reserved only for special gifting from the mayor to people such as the president, not for the common folk. They have many other wines to sample from however, not really being a wine person, did not try them.

Steep climb but a nice view over the city

Perfect lookout point to Maribor. I run up there during my morning jog from the north side and the trail was nice. The other one on the south side of the hill was steep and rugged. There are multiple paths leading up there, so you can choose the right one for you. Definitely a must-visit place in Maribor 🙂

There is a small chapel at the top of this hill, you can see it as you go up.. The path to the top is winding which makes it easy to climb without losing your breath. You pass some tiny vineyards on your way, and most of the way there is no tree cover for shade. I counted 2, and I stopped at the last tree as it was super hot.. but wherever I reached the view was amazing and extraordinary.. would have been really nice if they added some benches for people to sit and breath the air and enjoy the moment! the view is nice and you'll probably have this place to yourself, so you can enjoy some peace and quiet. Cars and bikes are not allowed, so it’s a walking distance.. if you walk all the way from the town, there’s no sidewalk on the street so.. stay safe!

Its a 20min walk from city park. From Piramida where old Maribor castle was placed we can see Maribor, Pohorje and start of Drava plain field in direction of oldest Slovenian city Ptuj. Ruins of old castle are still visible on the hill. It is a good place to see whole Maribor and plan your next sight seeing 🙂

I visited this church during Mass. There sermons were told in Slovenian, so I was not able to understand most of the words. After some time passed boy choir started so sing. And then my mind brightened I started to understand every word they sang even it was in Slovenian. Their voices were so beautiful, pure as voices of angels. After Mass I left church being full of positivity.

In general an ski resort connected with the city infrastructure has its benefits, still we missed the classic mountain atmosphere and more challenging routs - Nevertheless, the price is fair.

The cable car is wonderful. You can see the city with a panoramic view and enjoy the clean air. We walked down the hill and the road is like a dream, full of wonderful trees and the scenery is amazing.

We have been there in spring and for hiking, not for skiing. For hiking the area is nice, however, there exist better areas. The grass on the slopes is quite destroyed by skiing, and the area is really crowded due to the fact that there is a cable car going up and also a street. There was no real hiking path we followed, but only the skiing slopes. And there are a lot of mountain bike routes (downhill), and you have to take care when crossing them or not to walk along them. Anyway, the views are nice and it is for sure worth to explore the area. It is huge, and there are a lot of options to go. For parking you have to pay, but it was only 2,80 Euros for us (4 h).

Maribor Pohorje is great decision to move away from the city to be close with the nature. Pohorje offers great spots for hiking, mount biking, tasting traditional food and go to see nature sightseeing. You can go with cable car or you can decide to walk. On Pohorje there's some amazing hotels to offer to stay. From Maribor Pohorje to centre of Maribor is only few minutes. So if you decide to want to stay in Maribor I recommend that you go to Maribor Pohorje.

I like this bikepark. Comfortable lift. Each easters we are here. Special prize 22€ for day for all is realy good. Be careful, valid only for "biking time" (10-17 or 18). Really apriciate cleaning zone and Bar with local beer. On the top of the hill is fastfood or hotel, where you can relax and enjoy view by good food and drinks.

Nice ski resort, not many slopes but at least one of them seemed very exciting. One of big disadvantages is that the altitude here is not high comparing with other Slovenian ski resorts so it lacks snow, basically you can count only with artificial snow and only half of slopes opened. But the big advantage is that it is located very close to the town of Maribor where you can find bars restaurants historical cites shopping etc

Great wine bar in the heart of Maribor at the river. It's a quite place but easy to find. Great wines by the glass (3 euro per glass) from the Maribor area. The setting is great at sunset with the river nearby, see my pictures. Would definitely recommend when you're in Maribor and up for some wine!

Lovely place to savor a glass of Riesling beside the river Drava - moderate prices, delicious wines and very friendly English-speaking service. Our dog was welcome too, which is always an amicable experience. :) We enjoyed our little break here tremendously!

Old water tower that used to be part of the city wall of Maribor. The building dates back from 1555 and now hosts a bar with terrace outside. The staff that was on duty during our visit spoke German and English. The terrace is a nice place in the shade on the river, with a nice breeze. Good place to relax and enjoy and affordable but good cappuccino. The cappuccino also comes with a complementary glass of water with ice.

The most comfortable thing was the underground parking, that has lots of parking slots (for free), so it's really impossible to not be able to park here! We did the wine tasting tour at VINAG yesterday. It was good... a must for everyone visiting Maribor. It started as we arrived without reservation around 17:20u. Barbara (the house guide) welcomed us and told us that we could join a group of two couples for the tour at 17:30u. We waited outside full of anticipation in the beautiful sunny weather outside and greeted the other couples as they arrived. Around 17:45u Barbara hurried to come and welcome us to the tour and our journey started. When a young entousiastic child entered the barrel and experimented with screaming inside the barrel to hear it echo it was time for us to climb out and start tasting wines. Barbara served 6 types of wine and the other couples had ordered cheese and meat plates that were huge so we shared them. Each wine was better and the one before and at the last tasting our guide finally relaxed and joined us for a last glass. We had planned to do a tour of around an hour but left the cellar around 21:30h. At recommendation of Barbara we hurried to La Pizzaria for dinner. All participants joined and we drank a bottle of Mariborchan on our way there. Fortunately the Pizzaria was delicious and open until 23h. All together this tour was an amazing experience. Don't worry about reservations, just make sure to take your time and not make any dinner reservations shortly after the tour. You never know how long the tasting is gonna take. Thank you Barbara for this awesome tour!

The highlight of the tasting is the opening of the champagne with a saber by the sommelier. I visited the winery almost two decades ago. Although I have been to Maribor several times after that, I did not have the opportunity to experience the magic of tasting its wines again.

This might not be as great as the things that you’ve read about it. So much potential to be something really great (and it seems like it was in the past), but it’s passed through so many owners and hasn’t been invested in recently that it’s a bit disappointing now. Relatively new owners now and glad they’re Slovenian, but the wine is mediocre and the price of the tour is outrageous, especially given the quality and variety of the wines and how run down the building is. The staff is young and friendly and we had no trouble understanding our guide like others have complained about. She had interesting facts and did a great job serving the wine. The ownership is really the ones that have failed to make this as special as it could be. I hope they start producing better wines and/or invest in the building to have a better tour of an amazing historical site.

But it all seems run down, little effort put in and I found the price very expensive (we have been to vineyards with free tours and tastings if you purchase something, seems much more reasonable). Wine tastings ok but not overwhelming- nice sauvignon. Unfortunately little shared about the wines, how they are made and aged. Has potential but needs more effort from the owner.

This vineyard was one of the best tasting experiences we had in Slovenia and internationally. They are passionate, extremely friendly and helpful but also very knowledgeable and the wines are top notch quality and fairly priced. We would recommend anyone to visit them for a wonderful and unforgettable experience! If you travel with the camper they would very kindly let you stay on their property so you can fully enjoy the wine tasting. Please be supportive of their amazing kindness and make sure to bring many bottles home with you. You won’t regret it!

We tasted about 12 wines, learned a lot about the grapes, region and wine tasting itself. We were very satisfied, cs the owners are truly passionate about their wines and process and can easily involve you in this wonderful world. Strongly recommend.

You don't want to miss this - it was the highlight of our whole trip in Maribor! The tasting took about 2.5 hours and we tasted so many amazing wines. The tasting included also some cheeses, bread and meat for local farms (let them know if you're a vegetarian, they can make you a plate without the meat products). Our host Damian was friendly and always ready to answer any questions. We took a taxi here from the city center and it was about 10 minutes. We had so much fun with my friends, would definitely recommend this experience.

Best wine tasting I've ever done, and I usually strongly prefer reds. They are kind and warm, but I also learned so much. We had wine pairs like chardonnay that had been oaked versus stainless steel, rieslings from different years, and so on to really highlight the subtle differences. Comfortable venue, great service. Damjan is very entertaining.

We had a great wine tasting together with Damian, who offered us a high variety of wines from their production to taste. He is a very kind and passionate host, who enjoys to tell the stories behind the wines and some funny stories around the topic and Slovenian culture. Next to the different wines, we have been given a plate with delicious cheese and snacks. It is no typical "tourist tasting", where you only get a brief introduction and 2 or 3 wines to taste. You should plan some more time for this experience and it is absolutely worth it. I can highly recommend the tasting.

This was such a great find! It was just around the corner from where we were staying which was lucky as we tried every wine on offer. We also tried a range of the produce from their home garden and local cheeses. We can’t recommend this place enough. We didn’t have a booking but Damien talked us through all the wines and explained in depth about the process of making them in Slovenia. We spent three hours here in total and felt like family when we left! Delicious wines! Tough not to buy them all. Thanks again!

Amazing! Even though we came there last-minute and unannounced, we felt very welcome. The hosts, a couple who is very passionate about wine and their vineyard, were very friendly and welcoming. We ended up enjoying a 3-hour long winetasting (including delicious snacks) with the host telling us about the different wines and how to taste the nuance in them. We had a very enjoyable conversation in which we got to ask any questions we had. We learned so much! We were explained the difference in taste depending on the production, the age of the wine, the kinds of berries and anything else you could think of or would want to know. We had a great time at Horvat, the passion and kindness of the hosts was amazing to see. This experience is one I will tell people about for years to come.

This is a local family wine makers who not only make great tasting wine but give exceptional tastings along with being amazing hosts. You don’t want to miss this place when you visit Maribor.

Best wine experience I have ever had - 11/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The owner was so nice and has great knowledge about winemaking, I felt like we had known each other for a long time and I t was so obvious that he loved his job. I fully recommend this place, worth any penny!

Had an incredible experience here - it's a family business, and Damijan spent 3 hours with us personally running through all the wines. He was knowledgeable, interesting and entertaining. We got a local cheese and veggie platter with treats from the families own garden (ring in advance for this) and the whole experience was just so much fun and great value for money. Don't rush this, give yourself a few hours and maybe a designated driver or bus options :p

We went to watch a national league derby. It's a small but nice stadium. The atmosphere was great also for me but just to the point when the club anthem stared to play. Bandiera rossa an old communist song. Really? Aren't you out of Yugoslavia?

Nice stadium for 12k spectators. Quite central location. Easy to see the whole pitch from every seat.

A very nice stadium, i had the luck to see a pretty important match, maribor against Olimpija Ljubljana. It was a nice atmosphere and a pretty good experience overall.

Great stadium for a great team. We came from israel and went into the south ultras gate. Feeling is fantastic. Ultras are great. We enjoyed a lot. If you're around and you like football you should visit here. Go Maribor Go

It may not be the biggest stadium in Slovenia, but the atmosphere on this stadium is the best Slovenian football can offer. Thanks to the group "viole" and the people of Maribor. En klub ena čast. Ljudski vrt ti si naš.

Lovely place for sports, such a community spirit

Greatest, most modern sports venue in Maribor. Best views are from the top rows, middle of the east or west. North and south are mainly for the supporters. Lower rows (numbers 1-5) have partially limited view on the field due to team benches. There is also family section for football matches.
