Very impressive cathedral, standing in place of three others that came before - the earliest dating as early as the 300s AD. Built over 3 centuries. The very slow construction of the cathedral led to a local saying: "... not until the cathedral is finished", to mean something particularly long and difficult to achieve. Super impressive portals and glass paintings, although I have to say the recent renovation of one glass painted aisle looks completely butchered. Anyway, absolute must if you’re in the area.

This museum has so much talent on display. We loved this more than any Chateau or Gallery. It's not a big place, but it's easy to get to, and really interesting. We don't speak enough French to have understood all the information, however we were given a free guide in English. Also some of the text has English translations. Don't miss the "Joiner's alphabet" (I forgot to take a photo), or the amazing statues made from sugar.

Fascinating museum of Companonnage which are like craft guilds. To join, you have to make a masterpiece in your own craft. This museum shows some of the best craft work. Miniature models in wood, or baked, or made in metal, or leather depending on the craft shown.

Also some fascinating examples of the items prepared for admission into said guilds, and the prized 'cane' acquired. Beware, dont follow Google Maps for the entrance, it is now from Rue Nationale, down the stairs in front of St Julian's, and to the left. (Stairs beside the small building on the corner of Rue Colbert, with the hairdresser). It is also only accessible by a steel staircase. Another display there, but only until Nov '22, is on the rebuild of Notre Dame (all in French).

This fantastic place is a botanical garden as well as a little zoo. A true haven of tranquility and beauty, just outside the centre of Tours, that is free to visit. Highly recommended!

Beautiful, big garden in the city, with a section for animals like emus, turkeys and even wallabies and a goat you can pet. There are different bits with Japanese gardens and medicinal gardens, and lots of different trees such as the 150 year old ginkgo tree! There is even a playground and swings. The greenhouse has many species of plants. Overall, a fantastic park.

It is a good garden with little animals and birds inside. The most interesting is kangaroo. And beautiful peacocks. They put a board to say dogs are not allowed but still people go inside with dogs. And the garden can be maintained little more and can be cleaned more.

I would say the nicest park in Tours. Different parts with exotic animals, plants and a lot to read. I personally liked very much the "evolution garden" with explaination of the earth and the roots of all plants and animaks, and ok also the human beeings. The came very late in earthage time... Inside the park is a huge exotic planthouse, which sometimes is ooen and cost some money. Also some nice lakes with flamingos and other birds round the arrangament up.

This place is calm and relaxed, you can see some turtles, chickens and goats. In the Garden we have a botanical garden house, with three distinct spaces, such as a tropical forest and a savannah. You don't have to pay to enter, it's a pleasant walk.

It's quite a nice place to bring tour kids or just to chill out from the merciless sun of July. There are plenty of animals, many are domesticated animals so it's totally fun for kids to play and learn with it. The space is big enough for walks, strolls, and spacing out. Even found a wedding couple celebrating their big day in the garden last weekend. The entrance is free and the toilet is quite decent. Really helpful.

What a shock ten world class chateaux near Tours and not!! one tour available..no shuttle bus no guides no normal bus..nothing nothing...the chateaux need to hire their OWN shuttles..disgrace. you need a car or a byclyce.. I took the train but that is only for chenonceau or amboise and walk to entrance. Bordeaux much better organised.

Normally I wouldn't review a tourist bureau but we dropped in twice to inquire about tickets to the Château de Chenonceau as the TI offers discounted tickets. When we return the next day to get them, a different agent asked my age and indicated that even bigger discounts for seniors were available at the Château so we left without buying them. And yes, seniors (and students) are about 25% less when you buy on site.

A nice small museum that took me about an hour to walk through. There is almost nothing written in English in the museum, so it's good to carry Google Translate with you (just one staff member seemed to know English). Lots of artwork from the 1800s from known artists, and also a few impressionist (and neo) works. Also a bit of modern work that was pretty nice. It's in a really old house that is interesting, and some sculptures and clocks on display. Easily worth the ticket price, and after several days in Paris museums this was relaxing since very few people inside. As I said, have translation app with you!

It boasts a good collection. Most of the items on display are pretty old, but there are a few which are of the contemporary style. Among the items in the collection which are more unique are a vintage clock and several Roman-era sculptures. Since this museum is located inside a historic mansion, you also get to tour much of it. It's mostly emptied out but there are some ornate fireplaces, nice staircases, and beautiful doors. The entrance to the enclosure of the museum was historic and nicely detailed. It's free for those who are under 26. All in all, it's a great place to visit.

It is an interesting place for art lovers and history buffs. Some interesting old paintings of Tours are also on display. Get your students id for discounted tickets. Artist might also get discounts. Parking can be difficult to find as it's usually full due the museum being in the city centre. This place has a lot of stairs and the museum is quite big. Can be a problem for people with wheelchair. Get a bottle of water too on hot days as there is no air conditioning.

This park is astonishing. The many, mature, enormous trees create the feeling of a cozy canopy over the entire park. Includes species from around the world, including Giant Sequoias (native to California) and Bald Cypress (native to Southeast United States). Really amazing visit that took us by surprise. The location of this is quite far away from Tours center, but it is worth going out to as it is a short drive or cycle. The gardens were great to wonder around in, and the area is very well maintained. The information about the site is very good, and lots of interactive parts. Although the place is relatively small and you could go around in less than 1 hour, it is a perfect spot to just sit and chill out on one of their many chairs dotted around the gardens.

Absolute an tip. Here you can relax and strole a bit around. Ok the monastery is ruined, but it is so nicely kept and arranged. The house of the poet is fully intact and can be visited. Only the highway disturb a bit, but we all drive cars😏. So the visit takes about 1-2 hours, but all over the place are resting seats and hammock-seats to relax a bit. So stressfull Tours can be, so relaxing this place is. Also roses can be bought as plants. Entrance price was 6€ and parking is free. Also easy flat paths can be managed by elderly people.

Tours is famous for historical buildings, this station is one of the authentic design one. There are many train everyday, so suite convenient. I took a train to Charles de Gaulle airport on Friday morning. First train needs 1 stop, 5 min and I changed to TGV as 2nd train. Total duration is approximately 2 hours. About €67.

What a great find on a Tuesday morning! The best way to enjoy the Halles is to walk into it and take a whiff of every stand. Food is artfully highlighted. Beef, veal, poultry are respectfully displayed. Cheeses galore almost got me drunk just smelling them all! So now it's your turn to visit the halles in Tours and its surrounding..... It is quite a beautiful town!

What a nice local market! Favourite has got to be eating mussels off the counter. Paired with white wine, yum yum. You can have Parma ham off the counter too. I’d recommend the oysters, Parma ham stall on the sides and roasted food stall somwhere in the middle. Glad to have met very pleasant and friendly French people here too! There is an outdoor and indoor area to the market, the outdoor area is only available on Sunday…might be wrong.

It features a wide range of contemporary art styles and mediums. There are even some audiovisual experiences where you just sit in a screening room and watch the art. The building itself is pretty slick with grand modern windows whose views of the surrounding urban landscape are just amazing. It's totally worth the visit.

This space has so much potential, unfortunately at the moment half of its space is taken by a pretentious and pointless exhibition by Christodoulos Panayiotou which is hugely underwhelming, trying to play on minimalist themes but failing completely. The other one, by Nicolas Lamas, is quite nice though (some pics attached)z No-go for July 2021 but maybe they’ll have some interesting exhibitions in the future.
