Absolutely fantastic, our first visit and will definitely return, excellent value for money so much to see and do. Baby donkeys and miniature foal just melted my heart.

Well worth the long drive for us
Called on a Sunday afternoon after 3pm. The farm was just emptying and wasn't very busy. We made our way to the rare breeds she'd as our daughter loves the Highland cow and didn't know they've a calf there. We passed our way through the pigs and there was some young piglets that were only born yesterday. Further down the pigs got older and we arrived at the goats, alpacas sheep and Highland cows. They were amazing and our daughter loved them. We visited the insects and the other animals. The Mammals display up by the roundhouse was partially filled with new exhibits and will be great when filled.
The roundhouse was full of sheep lambing and we arrived just after one had just had 2 lambs. The toilets were clean and there were plenty of places for drinks and food. The play areas for kids are great. They do sheep and ferret racing.
Overall it was a great place to visit and worth it.
A beautiful gem in Barnsley, parking was simple and easy . Paying only £1 for two hours parking ( Great value for money).
Beautiful walks, follies , 2 cafes , and an amazing Walled Garden where you can enjoy tranquility , amazing shrubs and flowers . Along with a fantastic collection of fruiting pears trees , vine and exhibition space .
Hidden areas with picnic tables , ideal for a family gathering in a peaceful setting.
Dog friendly , with lots of open space to let your fur babies run and enjoy a good sniff . Along with places to give your dog a drink of water .
Well worth a visit for all ages , with wheelchair accessible pathways , grassy walks , 2 toilets facilities, the main house , benches to sit and take in the views and peace .
Also numerous bins for your waste .
We haven’t visited Cannon Hall since our children were kids Possibly nursery age.
We visited with our grandson and I barely recognise the place.
Heavily invested in updating modernising and just generally making the farm accessible for all.
Really good how are you can get so close to the animals without bothering them, definitely value for money experience with kids of all ages.
My only slight grumble was being charged extra for the car park, I appreciate a substantial amount of money has been spent on the car park, just stick a pound or two on the admission price and it gives people less chance to have a moan?
Back to the good points, the ants were fascinating to watch, incredible strength.
The piglets reeked but were great. The patience of the Mother pigs was commendable.
The goats, what can I say they were just mischievous and entertaining, as you will probably hear if you watch my video of them, proper stars.
Highly recommend a visit, if you have never been, or if you haven’t been for a while

Cannon Hall Farm is such a gem for families! The tractor ride is awesome, although I do wish it was a bit longer to soak in the views. Feeding the animals is an absolute joy, especially for the little ones – their faces light up with excitement! And let's not forget about the reptile area – it's very interesting and cool to see. The parks are massive and cater to everyone, with loads of spots to relax and grab a snack. If you're looking for a fun day out, Cannon Hall Farm is where it's at!
Can not recommend Cannon Hall Farm highly enough. It's a brilliant day out, with a perfect mix of things to do for adults and children alike. The staff are so professional and helpful and the Farm has a wonderful atmosphere. The food in the White Bull is absolutely gorgeous too.The Posh Fish Finger Sandwich is a must! The Farm shop stocks an impressive range of foods and gifts for every budget. The Farm sell individual or bulk tickets via online booking which is convenient and provides excellent value for money. A right good day out!!
Cannon Hall Farm is a lovely place to bring young children, there is some great playgrounds and a tube maze for them to play in. My kids also really enjoyed the sheep racing.
The park itself will keep you busy for a few hours, especially if kids enjoy soft play. Prices can be a tad expensive if getting food / drink in the soft play. Would suggest that if your having something to eat you nip back out to the white buffalo and eat there! (Prices are similar, but it feels a bit nicer for eating!)
On way out we visited the farm shop, was very impressed with this, loads of different things including lots of beer!
Absolutely fantastic, not too much to see that you miss anything or everything is miles away from each other. The children's play area is amazing, there's so much to do there. The food places were decent, as expensive as you would expect. Shame the ice cream shop wasn't open though. Sheep and ferret racing were brilliant.

Cannon hall farm has certainly grown over the years and has had a lot of money spent on it. There is plenty to do indoors and outdoors and is worth the entrance fee. The farm has a good variety of animals to see but none of these can be touched. Whilst I understand why from a health and safety perspective it just seems to be the main thing children want to do and can lead them to have a good understanding of being mindful around the animals.
Some of the animals did appear a little bored and had no stimulation in the form of balls/ animal type toys. The mongoose’s were pacing which was upsetting to see.
We had a go on the tractor and trailer ride which children seemed to enjoy. Everywhere was tidy and as clean as a farm could be. Plenty of bins around, plus different areas to sit and have picnics or stalls to buy hot drinks, food and ice creams. There’s also a cafe inside the indoor play area and 2 cafes/ restaurant just outside the entrance to the farm. On exiting the farm there is a nice gift shop with reasonable priced Childrens toys and books. Toilets available in the farm as well as plenty of benches in the many outdoors parks and play areas.
We hardly saw any staff around the farm though to converse with or gain any knowledge. We also wanted to mention to someone about the lack of water in some of the holding pens, but the only staff we saw was the driver of the tractor rides and people serving in the eateries.
On arrival you are given a list of times that events take place, such as ferret racing and sheep racing.
Overall I would return as the children enjoyed themselves, but there’s definitely some things that could be improved.

We went with the flow of the farm and saw lots of young farm animals.
All of the animals were quite far away and all in the barns - so it did get quite cramped with viewing areas. The animals seemed to be all in very close proximity also.
The children loved the feeding stations and collecting stamps.
The play area is really exciting for the children, they really enjoyed this part.
We took a packed lunch, which I'm happy that we did as it became quite busy around the food points.
They sell nice coffee.

This is a fantastic place to visit. Everyone is so friendly. The food is great and reasonably priced. There is lots to do and see for adults and children alike.
The farmers are happy to chat about the animals and nothing is too much. It is a working farm so what you see is what you get.
Booked entry tickets on-line. Great disabled parking virtually at the entrance, thankfully a dry day. Very smooth pathways, suitable for wheeled motability aids. Some of the paths are quite steep, but plenty or areas just to have a rest. Plenty of places to eat and drink in comfortable surroundings, even one that you can take your dogs in , as well. Well stocked gift shops, and a fabulous Farm Shop serving all manner of fresh and frozen food - well stocked with gluten-free as well.
Very well laid out regarding locations of all the different animal areas - all really lovingly kept, and the animals are exceptionally well cared for.
Definitely recommend this for a day's visit. Definitely go back for more visits as there is always something new to see.
Would highly recommend this for a day out with kid's. Plenty of play area's for all age's. Great soft play area and food is excellent a little expensive but worth it. Great farm shop. Plenty of clean toilets. Parking is good but you have to pay. £3 all day is not to bad. But its is a full day out.
Absolutely love this farm, went for my daughters 1st birthday, her and my 6 year old daughter both had so much fun, with plenty of animals to feed and look at, and the play area for the kids is brilliant they had lots of fun on them. 100% going back. The only issue I had with the day was it was a very sunny and warm day and while having dinner at the picnic tables there was very very little shad, could do with some umbrellas at the picnic tables.
It's a lovely place with lots of things to do and great for families. It's also a really good price and only a bit extra for a big bag of animal feed.
I will say that it was a shame the tractor ride was not on and that we didn't actually get to interact with the animals as I had hoped as we didn't hand feed them. There was also one very unhappy pig, which I didn't enjoy listening too and it caused some concerns. The goats were mega cute, but there were way too many in one pen. The goats all looked happy anyway, and a person I went with said the staff let them out, it's just so people can see them that they are all there.
I would 100% recommend the gardens as they were beautiful and free to explore. And to also try the milkshake while you are there!
We enjoyed a wonderful day ,at cannon hall absolutely amazing, We meet Farmer Dave ,and Farmer Ruth ,it was lovely to have meet them both ,We had a fantastic meal in the white bull I would highly recommend it food is amazing. The next day we visited the farm shop and bought a few items to take back to Bristol with us ,Well what can I say We bought a lovely piece of beef it melted in your mouth, the best piece of beef that we've had ,just wish we lived closer !! .
We had a wonderful visit to Cannon Hall Farm. Lots of parking spaces, paid £3 for all day,this can be paid for when booking your tickets. We also paid for the shire horse experience.
Food wise there is The Lucky Pup cafe which is dog friendly, The White Bull bar and restaurant, they have 2 menus breakfast and lunch to 2.30pm then afternoon menu from 2.30pm to 4.30pm. You can also buy food to takeout from the extensive Farm Shop. Lots of play areas for the children and picnic tables too.
Tractor trailer rides can take you on a tour of the farm. See animals in the Mammal House, rare breeds barn,out in the fields and the round house.
Our shire horse experience was more than an hour with one of the Farm staff .Danny was very informative about all the horses and foals, we got to feed them and be up close to a few. Then the miniature Shetland ponies,so cute. Donkeys and goats too.
The food we had in The White Bull was very good value and the bacon,beef,ham cheese etc was delicious.
The staff all across the farm were really friendly and helpful.
We will definitely be back.
You can follow the farm on Facebook and they do live broadcasts throughout the week. Lots of events arranged through the year.

What an amazing day out! Easy to find and park (you can pay for parking at the time of booking online or at the meters). Excellent value, friendly knowledgeable staff, spotlessly clean (as far as farms go!) with good paths all around (no muddy areas etc). A very wide range of farm animals, rare breeds, small mammals, reptiles and also a new red squirrel enclosure (only one group are allowed to walk through the enclosure each day due to conservation laws, if I remember correctly, which is fair enough!). There's indoor and outdoor play areas which are really very good and well maintained including zip lines etc. As for food, you can either take your own and use one of the many picnic benches, or eat at one of their restaurants (I think there's 3 in total, with outdoor food stalls too). We ate at the White Bull - the prices were very fair, especially considering the high quality of food. We were served very promptly after ordering, probably within 10 minutes, and the food was exceptional with generous portions. Much better than we expected for a visitor attraction! You can tell that the owners really care for providing a great experience. It is not bog standard food, and if we lived closer we would visit more regularly for the food alone (you don't need farm access/tickets to use some of the dining areas). They also serve a selection of beer/cider. There's a well stocked gift shop and farm shop also. We will certainly be returning, maybe even a second time this summer!

Great place for a walk with the dog or wife , good cafe one is pet friendly , nice grounds, excellent museum. Quality food in the farm shop, can be a bit pricey, but most places like this are. Garden center also has a nice cafe and shop. Parking is reasonable.
Absolutely fabulous place for everyone of all ages. Loads for adults to enjoy and loads for the kids to enjoy. All the staff are super friendly and can not do enough for you. They are all very knowledgeable about their areas of expertise and happy to help in any way. The White Bull has always been amazing for its yummy food and now with the addition of the Lucky Pup Cafe you can take your pooch in as well. Always clean and plenty of seating areas inside and out. The farm shop is gorgeous with loads of their own produce to enjoy and other produce on offer. The bakery and ready meal sections are my favourite … and then there’s loads of booze and chocolates!! Always book in advance or on quieter times on the day you get there as you need to pay on line.
It was a really good day out, we got there around half 10 and didn't leave it half 5. Loads to do throughout the day, the food there is really nice I will be going back just for the food for an excuse to visit!! 😀 I recommend Farmer Roberts burger if you are hungry!! Both kids loved it
We visited here for Mother's Day and had a blast. The car park area was swarming with staff. Some were directing cars on where to park, others were taking the £3 parking charge to avoid queues at the booths. Once we had paid, we were handed a ticket to display in our window. Dogs are allowed into the park but not around the animals. There is a dog friendly cafe (I honestly think I've found my favourite cafe in the entire country - with all ages and breeds of dogs) with a great range of food and drinks. There's also a 2nd cafe if you prefer to eat without the watchful glare of hungry fur babies. This, too, has a fantastic range of food and drinks.
The farm itself is spaced out well and is very accessible for wheelchairs and prams. The children's play area is under construction at the moment but it looks like it's going to be a great area for ankle biters to let off steam, in the not so distant future.
There are areas outside (with overhead canopies) for viewing the larger farm animals, cows, sheep, horses, pigs etc. Then there are a few indoor areas where you can see the smaller creatures too. Keep an eye out for the ants that walk along overhead ropes, taking leaves etc from one section to another. They are very busy.
There is a lovely gift shop on the way in/ out where you can find a great range of toys and keepsakes.
This is definitely one of my favourite places to visit. One that you can spend all day walking round or just a few hours. We will definitely be there again soon.
All round fantastic day out for all the family. Feed the animals, watch the playful meerkats, dig for fossils, place your bets on the sheep race, in Springtime watch the little lambs been born and much more to keep you busy. There is plenty of parking and a cafe to get refreshments.

Excellent day out, great value for money. Good range of animals and a very clean farm. Excellent outdoor playground with something for all primary aged children. Soft play is excellent, really big baby/toddler area and massive soft play for older ones. All new looking and very clean. Nice cafe too. Everything is included so really good value for money! We had a great day out and will be back again soon!

Had a fantastic day at Calypso Cove Waterpark. We qere there until the closing time and at the end had some burgers and drinks. Water is very warm ant there is a part of pool only for swimming in lanes. Really enjoyed it. Vegetarian burger was a bit tasteless but my kids enjoyed cheeseburger and chicken burger. Great prices, and cheesy chips were the best after a long swim 😃. Would not buy coffee there again.
First time experience with a 3 and 12 yr old. Neither wanted to get out after the 90min session. In truth neither did my wife or me! Really good fun. Great mix of slides, fantastic toddler area and waves that were surprisingly strong. My eldest LOVED the diving boards, the 1 and 3m were open. Can’t wait to go back. Not a cheap experience at just over £40 but for what you get I think it’s fair.
Lovely leisure pool to visit. Tickets are best bought in advance as the limit numbers in the pool. We paid £11.50 adults and £9.50 kids plus booking fee for 90 min.
Drawbacks for me were: no lane swimming was allowed, it was sectioned off for members only but I wanted to swim too, the air is cold so when exciting the water to go up a slide, it was very cold on the skin, the queue time for the big slides is over 10 min, a long time! And the changing rooms are not big enough...we are queuing for a cubicle both on arrival and on leaving the pool. Showers are only communal so it's not possible to fully shower properly. The cafe has a decent menu, the one on the ground floor, but it stopped serving food at 2pm which was crazy on a Saturday..
We ate at the bowling alley in the same complex instead. It's got a smaller menu but serves great fries made from real potato. However our meals arrived stone cold so we had to wait another 15 min for fresh meals to come out
What a fun family place to go, we went into waterpark, it was brilliant, lots fun, the three level diving boards were brilliant , it was also nice they kept a section of a pool open for lane swimming so adults who want to swim can do so while kids have fun. Lots lifeguards watching out for everyone , felt safe . Food in restaurant was lovely , and nice to sit pool side .
Only went to the kids session midweek, so the slides weren't open. Still enjoyed it though. Free parking was good! Place is a bit dated, but it's changed a bit since I was there 30 years ago!
Great options for all ages, from the baby & toddler pool, to the wave pool, diving pool & slides. Can get fairly busy but usually still a good amount of space too if you need it. The top diving board was shut when we went but the low & middle boards were still getting a lot of use. Good amount of changing room options too (family rooms & single rooms). Only gave 4 stars instead of 5, as some of the areas seem a little dated and could do with an update.
Absolutely amazing place, my 7 year old loved it here! The customer service is exceptional (they changed my tickets because of a train strike). The changing facilities are spotless and all the staff are really friendly
Travelled over an hour to visit this water park as our youngest son is obsessed with pirates. Nice big car park , friendly staff on reception. We were really looking forward for our visit.

Pool was so busy, there was constant noise from whistles the lifeguards using - honestly it was horrendous.
Could only take our youngest son in a small area and it was so busy that you couldn’t really swim or move about. We left after forty minutes. We couldn’t get changed as a family as people were saving cubicles and leaving clothes behind to save them.
Really gutted as we were really looking forward to our day out.
This was a fantastic venue for swimming, with a slick design of pipes at the counter where the staff checked us in promptly! The toilets were clean and so were the changing rooms, easily accessible with a proper amount of lockers. Slides went super fast and even included lights; one drops down like a penny spin which was adrenaline boosting! The wave machine is a fun touch too, in the pool that allows a swim to relax from slides.
First visit and will definitely be back despite it taking an hour to travel there. The journey was worth it!! Clean changing rooms. Easy check in process with prebooked tickets. Plenty of areas for less confident swimmers to reach the bottom. Slides and wave machine fabulous fun. The lifeguards do an amazing job keeping every one safe. Loved it!
My kids and I had such an incredible time here, loved it all and managed to get some nice photos from the pool photographer for the memories. We loved the whole pirate theme with the giant skull and pirate ship sunken galleon.
Only issue was my daughter went on the 3 main slides, was able to go on the Kraken and Terror slides but when she attempted to go on the ufo looking one and was told she couldn't because she was too young? She's 7 and swims better than most adults I know, I did manage to calm her down and find out it was the way a life guard had spoken to her I think she just felt embarrassed. So next time I have arranged someone else to join me and my two daughters so someone can keep an eye on my youngest while I go with her
Free parking, always a bonus. Check in was very easy and the staff were very helpful and informative. Pool was busy but the wait time was not that long. The boys loved the diving pool and the waves in the main pool. All but one of the slides working, the 90 minutes soon passed. Good hot showers and no queing, definatly being coming back here.
Took my kids here for a nice day out, we drove an hour and a half to get here and wasn’t disappointed, it was great. Not too many people there was plenty for both my kids to do, the wave machine was perfect. My daughters both loved the four Lane slide, will definitely make the trip again.
We went for the first time today, arrived early too early to go in. So we hung about the amusement area. L but there was no card machine to withdraw any cash which was a bit disappointing. When it came to the facilities and the pool it was Great the water was coloured for valentine's day which was a lovely touch. My children enjoyed using the slides and exploring the areas. The only downfall was an alarm that kept going off.. which seemed to be an emergency one. But we couldn't understand anything on the tannoy as it wasn't coming through clearly. The lifeguards were very helpful and on the ball for any issues. It was a good day out. I'd recommend it at a less busy time but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Been coming here for years, generally come when know local south Yorkshire children back at school. 13 yo still thoroughly enjoys it here. Appears clean and well maintained. £36 for 3 teens, 90 minute slot, whilst plenty of spectator space and facilities. Free parking. Book in advance for best choice of slots.
It felt smaller in person when we were there. It was so busy when we went, it really felt at full capacity. I think if there had been less people it would have been more enjoyable. Saying that the kids had a lot of fun. We are in the cafe which was downstairs near the changing rooms. Food was good and the ice cream was tasty. All staff we encountered were helpful and friendly. Free car parking outside also.
Took a spin here from Bradford (1 hr) with our Grandson's and they had a super time !
The wave pool was great, slides etc exciting , 1 1/2 hours of non stop fun 😁
For the non swimmers there is a 2 level cafe & seating area plus other distractions.
Prices fair , staff nice and all public areas very clean.

Kids had a great time and the staff were all really lovely and friendly. Easy to get parked and I didn't wait long to get inside. Only con is that it was quite dirty in the changing rooms but that's because other people visiting don't know how to pick up after themselves.
Booked online easily & it was reasonably priced, all parts of the pool / slides were clean & well maintained. A shame that one of the slides wasn't working, although still running and didn't appear to be anything wrong with it?!
Unfortunately the staff let it down...One of the staff at the front desk (female - brown haired & wearing glasses) didn't even acknowledge that we were at the desk in front of her, not a great first impression! Thankfully her colleague (female - blonde hair) became free and was much more friendly and allowed us entry! Same story inside, no one said Hi or even acknowledged people visiting! One member of staff (Female - blonde hair, late teens, working on the slides) was basically a "Jobs worth", blowing her whistle relentlessly, sometimes for no real reason and all the time having a face like a "slapped A**E"! Another member of staff on the slides (female - brown hair, late teens, wearing glasses) told my 8 year old daughter she couldn't wear her goggles on the slides, after being allowed on them numerous times already?! Not sure why this is even a rule?
All in all we had a good time due to the slides and pools but with no help from any of the staff! Definitely something that needs addressing!
Excellent ! Myself and my 6 year old had a great time at Calypso Cove _ slides - waves - waterfalls - pirate ships _ spray cannons - only negative is it was a tad busy but it was half term and expected it. EVERY Staff member I met was excellent, everywhere was clean which bearing in mind there were hundreds of people there was fantastic and the lifeguards in the pool were absolutely on point!!!! 10/10

We went to Calypso Cove on a Saturday (2 adults and a toddler). Just to note, we didn't try any of the larger slides, so can't comment on those!
Pros:
- Fab space for toddlers as well as older kids / adults.
- They have family changing rooms which makes life a lot easier as a young family.
- The water is a nice temperature (not overly warm, but you also don't feel cold when first getting in!)
- Great splash park area for toddlers!
- Upstairs restaurant has some good gluten free options.
- Free car park
Cons:
- You can only pay for 90 minutes, which wasn't enough, my toddler wanted to stay longer.
- The downstairs restaurant didn't have any gluten free options. - - - The restaurant upstairs did, however 3 sandwiches took 30 minutes to arrive for a take-out option (and no salad was included which it mentioned on the menu). We did get a free Malteser bunny for my toddler as an apology so assuming this isn't the norm.
- There aren't many larger changing rooms to say it's a family changing room.
Overall:
I would certainly go again! We had a fab time :)

We’d planned to visit the heritage centre before the Covid pandemic hit but sadly had to postpone our visit.
So, 2 years later we finally got to make that visit - it was definitely well worth the wait.
Located just 2 miles along the A6135 along from Junction 36 of the M1, it is very well sign posted and very much well with the visit.
Tip number 1, there is so much to see so allow plenty of time for your visit.
Tip number 2, visit Brambles Coffee Shop, their cakes are “to die for”.
Tip number 3, Check out the Elsecar Antiques Centre.
Tip number 4, enjoy your visit, it really is a terrific day out.
A really lovely little collection of unique boutique shops including vinyls, clothes crafts, sweets and antiques. There is also a separate play area for children, a visitor centre and a cafe. Well worth a visit.
Always enjoy a visit to Elsecar, appeals to two sets of people, the heritage is dantastic & appeals to young children as well as adults wanting to explore the past. But within the centre is the antiques/memorabilia unit which I could easily spend hours in.
On this visit we met up with a friend & enjoyed a hot drink in one of the two cafes there. An excellent visit.
Wow what a great play area this has! Such good value for money (huge, clean, plenty of extras) and the staff were all friendly, polite, helpful and lovely with the kids. The food and drink available was also brilliant!

Great place for exploring and shopping! Thanks to Landon our guide for the 2pm show around. Before the tour I didn't know what a showcase the industrial complex was. Great coffee and lovely independent shops.
Enjoyed the Newcomen engine tour! Poorly signposted as next to the railway station on site. Tickets from the visitor centre required for entry. 12 noon and 1pm.
Really beautiful and rustic place. I'm very excited for the future of this place as I feel the archeological exploration is only just starting especially with the train area. The Iron Works where my friend had her stand for the Mind, Body and Spirit festival was gorgeous!
We visited here with 24 Scouts and they could not have been more helpful. With only a days notice, they agreed to chat to them about the history and purpose of the buildings. They were also welcomed in to watch a film about the history. I would personally like to thank the staff for being so lovely, friendly and accommodating!
The Scouts were welcomed into the businesses also and the lady at Emily's sweet shop agreed to make up some sweet bags for them to purchase.
I would recommend this as a great destination for all ages, nice place to visit, nice shops and food, and close by to the reservoir which is also a nice place to visit.
Wonderful group of historical buildings, amazing info and we especially enjoyed the video of life in Elsecar over the years and the old pump engine on the grounds. Great place to walk - Transpennine way on site ! Lovely cafe Brambles.
We love Elsecar and Wentworth! The Heritage center is great for the young to the elderly! Lots to see and lots to learn. Beautiful scenery and lovely independent shops and cafes. Just across from the park too!
Great Halloween trail & activities on for the kids this week during half term. Always a nice wander. Love to visit the old style sweet shop, brambles tea room (where they even cater for vegans), and the corner shop where we always manage to pick up gluten free goodies. If you have little little ones the play centre was always a favourite haunt for us too (ours are much too big now). But they sell lovely food & do great parties. A bit of something for everyone with the antiques & craft shops as well as two beautiful cafe/eateries.
We have visited Elsecar many times, sometimes for pleasure and others to take part in the trade craft fayres where we promote our business.
It is a very popular place with plenty of parking available and lots if interesting little shops to visit. There are artisan business making bespoke furniture and kitchens and if vinyl records are your thing then there is a shop there to while away sometime rummaging through the collections.
There is a very large antiques centre to take you back to your childhood and beyond with lots to see from vintage toys to furniture and clothes.
There are places to satisfy your hunger with cake or a full meal and get a drink or two.
The place is especially busy when holding craft and artisan events in the Ironworks where you can buy some handmade crafts and foods.
The area will be undergoing some major renovations during 2024 so if you are thinking of visiting I would do that this year!
We went to the heritage centre and did 2 tours. The first was the Newcomen beam engine which although powered by hydraulics instead of steam is still very impressive. The second was the history of the mine , workshops, railway ,canal etc. The tour was very interesting and fun the guide was very knowledgeable and answered all questions. I think the tour lasted way past its allocated time.
Nice quiet Friday afternoon stroll around the shops. Huge antiques centre which had some interesting things and some other traditional and quirky units.
Great cafe that does lovely food and is good value.
We went in The Pantry 18th February 2024, the food looks and tastes delicious, I had a lovely alternative milk hot chocolate and a slice (big) rocky road, both Yum! The staff friendly and helpful, didn't wait long.
Fantastic day out. Browsed in the quaint little shops and bought some great local produce. Especially enjoyed looking around the antiques centre. It’s a shame the railway is no longer open but nevertheless a true gem of a place.
The heritage center is fantastic. Great for people of all ages, dog owners and families. Free parking and lots to do, there's a cafe, bar, shops to browse and food stalls. A great day out!

Had a walk through the heritage centre as it shares some interesting little shops and history of the local area. Stopped for a coffee and a sandwich at the pantry cafe.
Lovely place. Loads of parking (free) and so much to do from a lovely walk, golfing, play areas, cafes, shops, vintage shop and more. There are also toilets and outdoor seating areas. We also love the pop up Christmas tipi and pods which we have visited twice now. Really nice place to spend a day.

Beautiful place to go for a stroll, the gardens are easy to move around and paths are accessible.
Plenty of shade on a sunny day, and the tea shop was open in the walled garden which was a bonus, as were the rhododendrons which were in full bloom.
Have not visited here for 27 years since l moved away, and it was easy to see how much work has been done to improve the park and gardens.

This was the first time I had been and I will definitely be back.
The grounds are fantastic. Peaceful with sweeping vistas, you can just walk around the gardens or out around the lake.
I really suggest popping in to the farm shop, but make sure you take a full wallet ha ha ha. Not that it's expensive, quite the opposite, but just because there is so much to buy. From locally raised meats to cookery books, from veg to gin. And all are great quality and value.
I enjoyed a lovely sunny stroll around the grounds and walled garden this week. A beautiful Spring morning with the gardens blooming with colour! It's a really uplifting place, particularly in these difficult times. Loved listening to bird song and watching the squirrels running in and out of the trees! The Fairyland garden with its pond is a very peaceful place to sit and spend some time.
I have been visiting here for 40 years on and off and out is just a beautiful place to walk around. Plenty of adventure for young kids, very dog friendly and so, so clean and tidy.
Sincerely hope this place is still here for my grandchildren to enjoy one day.
I have been a regular visitor to Cannon Hall since the early 1960's and still love to walk there, take a picnic, join in the events that are put on. I have taken my family there times many, now my grand children. It never disappoints.
Great place to spend an hour or two exploring. Lots of parking and payment can be made via an app (I used RingGo). Toilets near the Car Park and also a cafe for refreshments.

What a fabulous day out! Beautiful gardens and scenery, with plenty of good paths for a long, or short, walk. Our dogs also loved it.
Such a surprise to find morris dancers and a lovely artisan market. Great atmosphere, good weather helping with that probably.
Next time I will explore the Hall itself too.
Brilliant destination. Superb place to visit. Where does one start?! Large car park; farm with livestock as well as mammal and reptile houses; loads - just loads for kids to do, this place will wear them out! Lots of innovative play areas; walled garden; wicker sculptures and artworks; ponds and boating lake; good footpaths; dog friendly; colourful flowerbeds; established trees and great vistas; gentle walking, no overly steep bits at all; very friendly squirrels and geese! Follies; beautiful wood carvings; the hall itself is free to visit but relies on donations; plentiful assortment of eating places to suit everyone, from takeaway to dog friendly ones; gift shop; amazing collections within the hall from furnishings to the glorious glassware collection, stunning paintings and photography exhibition. My three highlights from the day: watching the leaf cutter ants, the intricate wood carving artworks in the grounds and (huuuge fan of Rene Lalique!) the magnificent bird vase by Lalique. Outstanding! Sooo highly recommend this place on all accounts.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff/volunteers (?) around the house. The house is presented a lot better than our last visit many years ago. You get a feeling of how it was lived in now.
Free entry, small shop and a public toilet inside.
Parking is £1 for 2 hours which is just the amount of time to walk the grounds and visit the hall, there's loads of spaces.
Walking up to the hall you will find a monster trail on the left which will keep your kids entertained for a good 30mins, even if it's raining your well covered by the trees.
The hall is set out for start of the 20th century and has that Downton Abbey feel about it.
The cafe is located around the right hand side, lots of seating inside and out, we had hot and cold sandwiches with crisps and 2 cups of tea with a bottle of D&B, unfortunately the food is low quality, the prices do reflect this somewhat so I'm not going to mark them harshly. It's pet friendly and service is very fast as you are called using a beeper.
There was a lovely garden with sensory parts and art sections, this leads you to the main grounds which has a path that leads you to a large pond with swan shaped pedelos. £8 for 30mins
Then your back at the car park, across the road there's a garden centre with restaurant and a ice cream parlour.
For a family day out I highly recommend it 4* (invest a little in the cafe to get that last *)
You only pay for a car park (not much, £1 for 2h) and the museum is free of charge, also the country park. Lots of walking (easily with pram/stroller) many ducks, gooses. There is also a cafe and a playground. Great place for the picking. You can spend many hours there with kids

To get to the RSPB Old Moor at Dearne Valley it is well signposted from all around.
This was my first visit, and it was a nice surprise.
There is a reasonable size free car park. On walking to the entrance, you have two options the visitor centre/café or the actual nature reserve.
Since I wanted to visit the nature reserve, I cannot talk about the café at all.
if you are not an RSPB member you pay an entrance fee. Currently £5.00.
However, if I tell you that to be an RSPB member the fee is £5 per month for 1 or 2 adults or better still £6 for 2 adults and up to 5 children. So, if you are interested visiting any of RSPB premises at all, particularly with a friend then being a member is a no brainer. Also, it’s not much money to support a good cause.
The staff on site all appeared to be volunteers who were approachable, knowledgeable and their friendly spirit meant you could ask them anything to make your visit more enjoyable
The reserve is not just about birds but ALL nature.
At the entrance cabin there is a map which made for interesting reading as it had notes of lots of things you could see on the reserve. I apologise for the photo of the map, but the information provided is fantastic, unfortunately the Perspex sheet casts a shadow (zoom in on the picture for the text to become clearer).
The reserve is for all ages and abilities. Access was available for wheelchair access including toilet facilities.
To support your visit, you can hire binoculars. I also so saw available nets for examining pond life and information sheets about all sorts of relevant wildlife.
You can walk quite a distance around the reserve. With some areas having high trees I did get disorientated for a short while. What surprised me the most was the number of hides available to use and how big they were accommodate the public watching the wildlife/birds.
Because of the varied landscape it allows for different wildlife to live in different parts of the reserve, so again ask the volunteers if you are interested in seeing something that particularly interests you.
I know very little about birds and when I got home, I examined the photos I took and learnt the names of several species. I was also surprised when I totalled up the varieties just how many I had captured.
On walking along a path, I saw a fleeting glance of a small mammal, bright orange in colour, which had ran a few feet in front of me. On talking to the volunteers, they believed it could have been a stoat.
All in all, a fantastic day out I had totally got immersed in the event and lost all track of time.
Always welcoming, happy staff. Me and my 6 year old daughter visited recently and took the Halloween trail. The bag cost £3 but it entertained us both, searching for clues. The park and surrounding activity areas are fantastic, too.
Fantastic place to visit with the family. Lots of fun activities for the children like pond dipping bird watching playing in the adventure park.
Visited yesterday with my 8 year old granddaughter and we had a brilliant time. Lots of activities for children. Staff were very friendly and helpful, pointing out things of interest etc. Word of warning though - cafe service is very slow so if your time is limited probably best to take your own, plenty of picnic tables dotted about. Despite that we are planning another visit soon as we didn't get to do everything, there was so much on offer.
Great place to just walk around in peace, may e so e of the more regular bird watchers feel like they own the place. The café is awesome. I went when it wasn't that busy as I have issues with crowds and families who think everywhere is aimed for them. So for me, it was perfect. Well maintained, staff are great.
Beautiful reserve. So many huts for bird watchers. Nice easy routes for folk wanting a general walk round..lots of benches to sit and relax..i found a nice quiet area to relax in too. Had a lovely few hours here free parking which is a bonus we had a lovely quiet walk round paid £3 for the net and tray for pond dipping which I think is essential if you've not done it before . Nice size park and places for a picnic .. some parts were buggy and scooter friendly but little explorers might want to take short cuts through trees n bushes and wooden bridges which wouldn't be accessible. Gift shop a little expensive rather just chuck a few quid in the donation box . Great place to visit will be back
This is a great place to go to see British natural nature and a beautiful place to walk and enjoy spectacular scenery.
There are many different species of bird 🐦 here and there are lots of marsh land and trees a birds paradise.
There are warm heated bird watching cabins along the different routes you. an take along the many paths.
The facilities are top notch as there is a cafe on sight that serves fairly priced hit and cold foods with good seating and heating.
There are toilets 🚻 that are well kept and clean as well as a baby mother changing facility and disabled facilities are well taken care of.
It is free and parking is ample also free parking will attract many people as this is a cheap day out and a fun day out.
I seen many keen bird watchers with there long lense cameras but also seen many family's with children of all age's and they looked like they were having great fun.
It's a fun place to explore and has many bird's and some are rare within the UK but this spot you can see them.

The staff are professional and friendly I was greater by a informative man who worked there at the fate and gave a talk about the history and the birds and what to do and expect and I found this very friendly and informative.

Great place for a day out. Well signposted. Large car park. Toilets. Fab cafe. Viewing hides all clean with good views of birds. Plenty of walks nearby although, not many signs once off main trails.
It’s fascinating, very close to major, noisy roads, but so quickly you can zone in to the wildlife! It was our first visit - a Valentines Day treat (!) and a lovely time had by both. Lots of wildfowl and water birds - so many different ducks!
There are lots of hides and screens, with different environments. It’s a great place for families / youngsters - many grandparents with offspring on this half term visit - and the kids were really into bird spotting which was nice.
The cafe is really good, and made a great start to the day.
The volunteers we met were universally enthusiastic and knowledgable - they really made the whole day special! Well done RSPB!

Excellent place for bird watching and photography As an artist I find it second to none for views to paint. The staff are very helpful, knowledgeable and cheerful, they are only too pleased to answer any questions you may have. I and my wife try to get at least a couple of times a week. No matter what the weather we are guaranteed an wonderful day out, and there is always ample parking space.
Wow, this exceeded our expectations! Exciting and free , full of ponds, hiding places, play activities, a lovely cafe and shop with a garden... Wonderful! A credit to all the staff who obviously love this place, highly recommended
Great place for a walk and catch a few birdies, excellent staff that are very friendly. Bird flu done a bit of damage sore sight to see. Prices very reasonable for tee / coffee snacks.

A very welcoming free museum. Wonderful for children with all sorts to look at. Personally I found the local celebrity display case with Charlie Williams original This is Your Life book particularly interesting. It's a small museum and doesn't take long to look around so well worth your time to pop in. There was a nicely stocked gift shop with reasonable prices.

I went to Barnsley museum to see a exhibition about Tutankhamen.
It was one small room and most of the artifacts wasn't even real they were fakes.
it took no longer than 25 minutes to see the fake artefacts and I was so disappointed and felt like the museum didn't really put enough effort in to the exhibition.
Absolutely blown away by this Museum.. its fabulous!!! Very interactive for kids of all ages.. there's a lego trail at the moment, perfect for toddlers..and some absolutely fascinating ancient artefacts found in and around Barnsley.. Its a very community based Museum! There's a great play area for the little ones too! Well worth a visit x
Mainly came to see the Tut22 exhibit but looked around the whole museum as well.
The museum and discovery centre are a treasure trove of information and fun activities. Definitely worth a visit!
All staff were helpful and very friendly, a fun afternoon out finished off with tea and cake in the old George cafe on site.

Local interest and history, archaeology, fashion, miners and coal, historical artefacts, inventions, military regalia and special exhibitions. Interesting calendar of events. Gorgeous old, as in 'propahh' old iron lift. Public loos. Fab little café called the Old George. Beautiful elegant architecture. Set in attractive, colourful gardens. Great facility. Beautiful farm! We went in January when it was free as we only found out it existed through the ads! Although having read the price board it's very cheap anyway! There's a cafe and a little gift shop where you pay to enter the farm. You can buy bags of animal food for £1 and feed some of the gorgeous animals! There's a little play area for kids when you first go through the doors and plenty of benches to sit down. We took our 11 month old and she absolutely loved it! She even managed to feed the sheep. Now she doesn't stop saying baa! Very educational for kids and hopefully helps them become little animal lovers. We will definitely be coming again in the near future.
FREE ADMISSION?! Unbelievable quality - fantastic family farm! None of this walking miles to observe animals from afar! Love the animals, particularly the tame cattle 🥰 animals very clean and cared for (by students who do a great job!) Wonderful team and low cost food and drinks to have while daughter played on the park. Well what a lovely way to pass a few hours for very few pounds , and it has to be pounds no cards.
The bin lids loved it the feeding of the animals to the running around the bale's.
The food was a bit pricey, but good quality but I feel it is everywhere you go....
We had an incredible time at Wigfield Farm! The farm is beautifully maintained, and we loved getting up close and personal with the many animals on the property. we highly recommend a visit to Wigfield Farm and can't wait to come back!
Our first time to wigfield farm with my grandchildren and we all loved it. Lots for the kids to do and nice for them to get close to the animals. Everything is well maintained and clean. Had some lunch and was a good price. A really fun and cheap day out. Will definitely be back

I've never been to Wingfield farm before but I will definitely be taking my grandaughter back it's brilliant, she enjoyed ever minute of it every thing is clean from the toilets to the cafe and play areas it's a fantastic day out

Lovely little farm. Took my almost 3yr old and 5 month old today and we all had a wonderful time. Only £2 entry for anyone over 2 and animal feed only £1 a bag. Also has a tidy little park that my son thoroughly enjoyed running around on. Friendly staff and nice facilities.
We love visiting this little farm. It's is completely family friendly and affordable. The animals are wonderful and the food from the cafe is delicious.

Great value, gluten free food readily available and gorgeous animals! We especially love the friendly goat he/she is like goat therapy super cute! The hay bales have provided an hour of fun and my toddler actually had a nap so thank you for a great day!
Cheap and definitely cheerful. Great for the little ones to learn about animals and farming. Cafe and outdoor play area is great too.
Great place for a visit admittance was only £2 each so nice and cheap. Place has a decent size parking area. And there's a shop and Caffe on site. We went to the students Xmas fair and picked up some hand made gifts that where very well priced. Will definitely go again in the summer but most of the animals have indoor viewing windows so there out of the weather. Nice selection of animals you can feed and pet.
We've had a brilliant afternoon at the farm. FREE admission. The staff are friendly and helpful. Lovely children's play area. A nice cafe with reasonable prices and a selection of sandwiches, pizza, sausage rolls, cakes, scones etc. The toilets are clean and accessible. There is a small gift shop. The animals look well looked after. You can buy a bag of food to feed to the animals for £1. The car park is right outside the main entrance. Take good footwear it's muddy. We will definately return.

A nice little garden center and cafe. Decent prices on the plants and in the cafe, very nice and friendly staff.
What a wonderful find! Only four minutes from the M1. So glad we decided to pop in and check it out. We met friends for lunch and it was the ideal place to have chosen. A beautiful setting with plenty of free car parking space. Dog friendly. An excellent, reasonably priced nursery. We also bought a couple of things from the dress shop and found some other great gifts.
Small farm animals. Food available to feed them. Could do with a revamp. Good for small children. Café looked nice. Garden centre and other independent shops on site. Short walk by stream into Silkstone village. Plenty of free parking. Will go again.
Brilliant play cafe at the Den, for toddlers, lots of crafts and toys outside. Turn into the car park and keep driving up through to the car park at the back. The signage could be better.
Great outdoor children's play area. Great food and drink. Brilliant to also be able to see the goats, turkeys, sheep, chickens and peacocks by the car park. We'll definitely be back!
Amazing little petting zoo with goats, chickens, sheep, roosters, even a turkey! It has honesty boxes for 50p pots of feed and a hand washing station. Highly recommend if you’re passing (or can make a detour!)

Such a lovely village complex. A little farm, beauty salon, restaurant, clothes shop, garden centre and store, not to mention a childrens play group facility. There’s plenty of parking and it’s nice to see the wildlife roaming free around you. Ideal for a little morning or afternoon out of the house! Fun for all ages.
Absolute fantastic little place to visit. All the staff are extremely friendly and accommodating to all families. The food was fantastic and we'll presented. The kids especially enjoyed their ice creams.

Over £17 for two coffees and cake, ( that was dry ) I think places like this are nice, clean, reasonably friendly ( although changing my mind about my cake made the staff member have to scribble it out and write a bit more ! ) But I think they have lost sight of what's a reasonable price to charge any more ?

A very pleasant walk around the lake. Take your boots, it gets muddy in winter.
Nice nature, big reservoir with interesting hidden places. Strongly recommended for weekend's outing.
Very nice country park near Barnsley few minutes drive from our house, good walking and cycling track, not maintained tracks as expected, less people, for kids good fun with ducks and fishes. When we reached coffee/ice cream shop it was closed, also good fishing spot if some one interested. I met few fishermen, interestingly, they caught few fishes and released them back in water, we haven’t completed the complete trail/tracks because of my kids, who got tired.
I will visit this place again with full picnic preparation
Lovely country park with some beautiful scenery. On the outskirts of Barnsley South Yorkshire it's a nice place to visit with walks and activities for children. Plenty to see.
A hidden gem. Perfect for a scenic walk around the reservoir, with a great cafe and museum. Toilets were very clean. Seems like an excellent place for families to visit too.
Cafe open for takeaway, one way system & masks in use. Toilets open to use one household at a time. Security there to support this and plenty of signs. We cycled the TPT to get here. Good route, wide, good ground underneath & not muddy. Quite busy even in lockdown especially on a crisp sunny day
Found this place while on a drive out following my nose. Lovely old flour mill museum there.
When we went they had a fishing competition on around the top lake. Nice cafe and playground for the kids too.

First visit, really impressed. Nice for a walk. Good paths, well tended parkland and trees. Good selection of swings close to a good cafe.
Lovely place to walk the dog and explore online friends at locke park tells you the history of the area and we have a beautiful fantasy mural with scenes from childhood films to visit and view.
First time visiting this park today with my husband, granddaughter and our little dog Eric. What a lovely park, plenty of parking. Wide open space for dogs and children to run. The only down side today was two grown women fighting in the car park and police officers trying to break it up. There are lots of pathways to explore dotted with interesting stone pillars, band stand and other buildings. A lovely children's play area and lots of bins for a change. A bowling green, a football pitch and public toilets. Well worth a visit but try to avoid the car park brawl.
Another top tarn park, very well kept and very little litter though the occasional dog offering left by non caring owners. Good play area for the kids and a decent cafe.
Nice large park in the centre of Barnsley. Well kept with a decent cafe and nice play area. Band stand, folly and a few statues if you like things like that. Wooded and open areas.
This is a lovely park, I havent been before but will certainly go again.
Most of the footpaths are tarmac so it was easy to walk (without getting filthy).

Love it. A really good turn out with lots and lots of vintage cars and motorcycles to look at. A really good day out for the whole family!!
We enjoyed Locke Park, helped by the glorious weather. Lots of wide open space, however, we concentrated ourselves around the children okay area, once found.
Kids had a great time, coffee shop served plenty of snack options including ice-creams and milkshakes.
Worth an hour if your time for the kids to burn off some energy!!!
Love this park! Spent hours exploring and collecting things for our Nature Pictures!!! There is a cafe near the kids playground which has a great menu!! Lots of parking here and the toddlers absolutely loved the Fairy Garden and Goblins House!
A very nice park with some lovely features. There is a good cafe with large kids playground. Lots of green open spaces, great for dogs. Some nice gardens and buildings to make the place more interesting as well. There are tennis courts, gym equipment and basketball nets, all free to use. Good amount of parking

A lovely park with a cafe, bandstand, MUGA, bowling club and tower dating to the later 19th century. Great for dogs. Cafe serves dog ice cream as well as human ice cream. The staff are friendly and polite! They also host the local park run on a weekend. The last time I visited there was a travelling fair with lots of rides, so also a likely venue for touring events.
Beautifully kept gardens and walks through to the play area for children, loads of spaces to sit aswell as benches and a cafe with toilets if needed. Was very busy on a sunny day.
We went to the car show and really enjoyed our day. There was plenty of parking available and all the family enjoyed it.

Went to see Evita tonight. Oh my goodness!!! What an amazing performance. The whole experience was amazing! As always the theatre was immaculate, the staff so welcoming. The performance was out of this world. Thank you to everyone concerned for a FANTASTIC evening. Will definitely be back again. X
Fab little theatre, staffed by volunteers. It's cosy so you get to absorb the atmosphere really well. Definitely recommend booking a show here.
Went to the Lamproom Theatre recently to see Beauty and the Beast pantomime. It was absolutely fantastic! All the performers put their all into the show from start to finish. I attend the pantomimes quite regularly, and I've never seen one bad show. All the characters were brilliant, I can't praise these people, children enough. I would highly recommend the Lamproom Theatre. Can't wait for the next performance!
Went to see Brassed Off. This is a lovely little theatre, intimate, great atmosphere, very friendly staff. Nice bar to have a drink in. Good seats, plenty of leg room. Nicely decorated and clean. Excellent, will look to visit again.
The venue is brilliant, comfortable seating, great lighting, brilliant acoustics, love it. It's the first time I've been since the bar has changed, love that too. John Reilly and Lewis Nitikman singing Billy Joel and Elton John were fantastic on the evening too.
All seats in the theatre have a good view. They are comfortable, well upholstered and wider than average. I appreciate the economy but feel the prices have gone up way too high. "Run For Your Wife" was a good performance and we came home uplifted. We never use the bar but I believe it is well stocked. I'm not a fan of drinks being brought into the auditorium. The ladies toilets are well kept but I'm not impressed with having the men's toilets at the left had side of the stage. We saw the door being opened during the performance!
Great little venue with atmosphere you can feel when you walk in. The Blow Monkeys were on top form and went down well with the audience.
We had a bad experience, the play we went to see was really bad. The acting was shocking
A lovely little theatre which we've visited many times. Plenty of parking spaces nearby and close to various restaurants and bars (although the bar in the theatre itself is great value and friendly). The theatre staff are very helpful and friendly, and a lot of the amateur productions that we've seen there (particularly the L.S./Lee Semley Theatre Productions) have been extremely good, with fantastic and very talented performers. All the seats have good views, and the productions are great value for money!
Just spent a fantastic evening at the Lamproom watching the Gerry Rafferty Songbook show.
Six extremely talented musicians, completely live and playing to a full house.
Jack Land Noble who was the main vocalist is a stalwart of the Lamproom. I’ve seen him in many of his productions at the Lamproom, and in the best way possible he has far too much talent and skill for one man.
Amazing night, amazing music and a fantastic venue.
At the panto last night with the family to see Cinderella. Fantastic night. Everything about the production was brilliant. Well done to the Lamp Room 😁😁

Saw Rita Sue and Bob too at the lamproom at Barnsley. It was absolutely filthy, very funny, Northern humour and a tad naughty. The cast were brilliant and it had me laughing out loud. Would definitely recommend this play as long as you don’t mind bad language. The sex scenes in the mock up car on stage were hilarious, especially seeing just enough of Bobs peachy bum on show for the audience to see.
Love this little theatre. Went and saw cinderella last week here. Great as always. The 2 ugly sisters were hilarious and really well played! The guy who played one of them is always great though! He was the dame last year too and was great then! The little guy who played buttons was fantastic for the kids. Price charmings singing voice wasn't very good though. Overall though the place is great, friendly staff and well priced

Great place, don't get as often as we'd like but when I have I've really enjoyed it, small and intimate your part of everything that's happening on stage especially when it's Billy Pearce who we saw.
Lovely, small and intimate venue. Great prices unlike some theatres, drinks etc not overpriced. Enjoyed the visit! My photos show the view from seat A2 in the front row - so close you could almost touch the cast. Great showing of 'The Little Mermaid' and we all had a great time

Had a lovely 1 set Eric Clapton tribute show at the varietyshow that's held in The Academy Theatre every 2 weeks.
A warm welcome by friendly staff in this intimate (approach. 170 seats) theatre.
The stage is a ground floor one, with seats rising nicely. Proper dressing rooms, nice foyer, enough overall space in the theatre.
Lots of lovely programming.

My grandson 7 years old and I visited today and loved Aladdin.
Parking free and easy, venue clean, warm and comfortable. Prices reasonable.
We were made to feel very welcome.
The show was upbeat, well written and so funny. The costumes were exceptional. The actors obviously loved doing the show and the dancers were well practiced too.

Smashing little theatre and a wonderful social set up with bar cafe etc. Grandkids have a great time with theatre group. Lots of kids getting opportunity to appear on stage which has to be good for there self confidence.

A fabulous pantomime. However the bar area was quite cold and the disabled facilities are very limited. We had to sit at the very front and lift our granddaughter from her wheelchair onto a seat(as there wasn't room for her chair) and were within touching distance of the actors. We also were a bit too close for comfort to the constant smoke that was billowed out. If we had needed the toilet we were told we had to walk up the steps and out the other side. As our granddaughter is a wheelchair user this would have been impossible. We did ring ahead and ask for disabled access so we're a little shocked by this.
Amazing Panto. Such a good laugh. My cheeks were hurting from laughing so much. Everyone enjoyed it. Some fabulous talent among the team. You will not be disappointed.
It was my first visit when itook my grandson to see the Aladdin panto. We absolutely loved it! Can't fault a thing. The staff and cast were brilliant. I will be back.
The academy theatre birdwell is the place to be. Always a warm welcome. Always great shows. Meet some amazing people you've never met before. What a lovely reception you get the minute you arrive. Amazing atmosphere. Cannot praise the the staff enough for the way you look after us every time we come. Amazing venue. Thanks once again for you're hospitality. See soon again.

A great traditional stadium. Car park adjacent for away fans, £5, for a 3pm kick off it opened at 12.30. Liesure centre next door if you get there early and want a comfort break or cuppa. Good stewarding, smashing club.
Truful, can't fault the stadium or the staff. Even the locals were friendly apart from the little plastic gangsters. Sharing a bag of wine gums and wanting to fight the world. The older generation. No issues at all, and walked down talking football with them. The roadworks to the place are a nightmare. They need more serving hatches for food and drink. Just would like to see a Middlesbrough win at some point
Went to the match Barnsley vs Darby with my kids football team they looked after us very well the kids loved it we sat in the older stand but was still good and had character. The mens toilets need a little work LOL The seats are good we had a good view near the front. Lucky for us it stayed dry as we would have gotten wet for us not much cover as the other stands.
The stewards in the stand were friendly and helpful (and the result was good.
BUT
Very limited food and drink for away supporters, no forks for pies, only 1 choice of soda - all with 15 minutes of kick-off. The sausage rolls - one of the few items available - were burnt and partly inedible.
Staff who struggled to cope with small queues at the concession.
No paper towels in the Disabled toilet ☹️
Lovely ground, good pitch, electrifying atmosphere, affordable pies and drinks. The kiosks are well positioned and the vendors are fast so the line keeps moving such that you won't even notice there was a queue. I visited once and will definitely be revisiting as I had a lovely experience. All the stands are covered and all fans get to sit. The toilet is equally not bad. A great experience overall and I will recommend for a football game. Crowd control also commendable

This was a first football match for my son an myself. We had to get new tickets as the stand we were supposed to sit in was deemed unsafe. This wasn't an issue and we ended up with reasonable seat. It was difficult for us to find our seats having never been there before and the blocks didn't appear to be numbered, the stewards I asked didn't know where we were supposed to sit either? A helpful 'fan' got us to our seats. Other than the seat issue I enjoyed the game immensely. The ground still has some of the 'old charm' of a bygone era I'd always imagined a football match to be like (I've been to bigger stadium ethiad etc for concerts and I'd imagine the atmosphere/authenticity is somewhat lacking) and the game was great to watch. We'll definitely be back
I’ve sat in both stands here and the older side is much nicer. Feels a bit like going back in time. The newer stand is also fine although when everyone has big coats on etc there’s not an awful lot of room.!!
The bar and food bits are always mega busy. Nice and clean though throughout including toilets.
Security staff a bit rude but the men on the turnstiles and the people in the shop are lovely.

In general, visits to Oakwell are fine, mostly hassle free. The staff are friendly. Food prices are as most Football grounds high,the pie was ok not the best but better than many.

Really enjoyed looking around this gallery today. There was an exhibition of photos that made me laugh out loud and the permanent collection is also very impressive with a couple of pieces by Atkinson Grimshaw which are really beautiful and haunting.
The Cooper put great exhibitions on for children sometimes too so look out for those. The recent Elmer exhibition was fabulous and my 2 and 4 year old spent a happy couple of hours interacting with it. Nice cafe with outdoor seating in a pleasant courtyard for the warmer days. Unusual and unique gifts are also available in the shop.
Good old fashioned service with a smile, full English breakfast with a pot of tea and all for £6... excellent 👍
Absolutely gorgeous place to visit! Came with my toddler and there was plenty for him to do. The kids corner was so comfortable and made our day. The members of staff are really friendly and came out of their way to come say hello and make us feel welcome. Will definitely be recommending and coming back.
It's good to have a characterful, free, little gallery in central Barnsley, but it is a bit too dimly lit to see the paintings properly, especially when they are hung so far down the walls that you have to stoop to see them. Not easy when you're getting older!
Called in this morning not been in for a number of years. Free admission donations welcome. Really nice cafe. The building is easy to access very well set out. Very friendly staff, the art displays are stunning lots of information about the artwork and artist available. Well worth a visit.

The outdoor space was a real treat to find.
I was pleasantly surprised with the way they display art works. The building itself isn’t huge but I think this gallery has far more to offer than the big city gallery such as Leeds Art gallery.
It's not the Tate but it's not at the end of a long expensive train ride. I suppose much depends upon what's on but just at the moment it marvelous.
Visiting The Cooper Gallery was a delightful experience! From the moment we walked through the doors, we were greeted with an array of captivating artwork that truly showcased the talent and creativity of a diverse array of artists. The gallery's ambience was welcoming and conducive to appreciating each piece, and the staff were incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the art on display. Whether you're a seasoned enthusiast or just looking for a unique cultural experience, I highly recommend a visit to discover the beauty and inspiration within the gallery's walls.
Called in to the cafe. Only had a hot chocolate, but boy was it a tasty one. Lovely atmosphere in the cafe too. The cafe was near closing time, but we did not feel rushed at all.
Excellent place to spend a good hour.Exhibits of art and crafts. Sculpture and paintings. When I visited, there was a special activity area set aside for youngsters to get them exploring the centre. There is a small gift shop type and a cafe. I think (not sure) that both these facilities are time restricted. By which I mean that they were closed, but the gallery was still open and well attended.
In addition to it's core display the Cooper puts on some very interesting exhibitions - the latest is no exception. It is an eclectic mix with something for everyone. There is some exceptional art work. I particularly liked the charcoal, chalk and pastel portraits on black paper - at first I thought it was black and white photography. We are lucky that the Cooper puts on exhibitions of this quality and I urge people to take in this free show. In addition you won' t be disappointed by the Cooper cafe or the Joshua at the rear.

It's a lot bigger than we expected and good notice boards with information about the priory
Wait - this place is FREE! Parking on-site, well maintained Priory ruins with info boards scattered around the site. A hidden gem really with plenty to see
Free awesome bit of history here. The place isn't that big so don't expect a big day out. Another monastery that was abolished by Henry VIII.
Lovely ancient priory dating as early as the 12th century. Free entry, easily accessible free parking. Mainly, a grass field there is a few steps but not necessary to climb steps to access most of the areas. Some uncovered, ancient drainage system requires some caution but otherwise a pleasant walk around.

This is an English Heritage site but open to the public for free. There is also a small amount of parking at the site or a larger free car park off Abbey Lane. We spent about half an hour here exploring the ruins and reading the boards. There are no toilets or cafes here to be aware.

If you are interested in history and old buildings, this is the best tourist destination! Close to town and great access. It feels good to see the building left over from past centuries.
Beautifully quiet ruins with impressive gatehouse. Free to park and explore.
Free to get in. Car park onsite and another very nearby. The only downside is because it's free to enter there was remnants of a gathering ( alcohol cans and food wrappers). It's a lovely way to pass on an hour and we would return.
Tucked away in the middle of a housing estate you could never know this one existed. Found it searching for somewhere to kill an hour before heading to Wentworth gardens. The main church for the priory is now just an outline at foundation level but more of other buildings give a sense of what was there. Interesting features of you explore outside of the buildings, water channels for ablutions and some nice stone features of you spend the time looking. Parking for about a dozen cars and free to enter but no facilities.

Nice park with a café that sells the best chips! They are home made and sprinkled with cheese, a playground for kids and the lake you can walk around (with a pram it might be a little bit hard, but if you walk with someone else there are 2 spots where the pram needs to be lifted so it is manageable)
Perfect place for children and adults. Great playground and other activities for kids. And a great seating area for adults too. The little cafe there makes it even better.
Sheep and ducks add to the charm.

Brilliant park with great facilities. It was very busy when we visited today but that's to be expected. I do think there is a little something for everyone here!
This is a brilliant place for all ages young or the older generation.
The gardens are kept immaculate, and the cafe has a good arrangement of hot and cold foods.
Toilets for men and women are clean and available to all no price.
There are a couple of child toddlers who play grounds like slides and swings, also climbing frames.
I fully indorse this relaxing and stunning beautiful park.
If you're bored and in the area it would be seen a nice place to walk around the nature reserve and the park, however not more than half a day stay. We were there roughly an hour. There's football pitches, a small park, small crazy golf, toilets, picnic benches and a café that also sells doggy treats. On part of the walk around, it states 'no horses' so for those horse riding take note.
In my eyes there are far more interesting places to visit in S.Yorks.
Beautiful walk all around the lake . Can waLk onto fishing points to watch the birds . Children's park was busy and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves

Really good park. Nice cafe. Good play area. Reservoir with ducks, geese, fishing etc. Nice walks. Really enjoyed it. Only comment is either trails should be more gravel/ solid as very slippery when wet. Not helpful that bikes are using them either
Worth coming here to feed the hundreds of birds, let alone the nice cafe, great playground and lovely country walks. Bring rice, oats or peas for the ducks or buy food from cafe.
Autumn is my favourite time to visit the park. The colours and tidiness of the park makes you feel so happy. There's plenty for the kids to play on and explore.
We come here regularly with our dog Poppy. We love a nice coffee and sandwich in the teapot at yhe rnd of our walk.
Very historic place and former industrial property now tastefully converted into small commercial and retail properties. All the units are traditional and seem to be eco by nature. There are 2 tearooms to feed the visitors and acres of parking.
What a lovely park! Lots of playgroung activities to keep the grand kids occupied. Good cafe for adults to refresh. Used to play here as a kid on the pitch and put golf course. Council need a big heaads up fo maintainance of this lovely facility. Well done bmbc.
A great place to take the children for a day out, plenty of swings to play on and large area to have a kick about. Nice cafe to enjoy a well earned cuppa and sandwich.
