This is a WW1 memorial in Ypres, Belgium dedicated to the soldiers of British and Commonwealth whose graves are unknown. I & Family read there aloud a poem The Flanders Fields by John McCrae and we all were very moved visiting this monument and various Military Cementaries.

Excellent. A fitting & moving monument to the soldiers & service men & women of The Great War. The daily evening service provides a few minutes to reflect & ponder the past as well as the future. The thought of so many with unknown graves is so sad. The people of Flanders & in particular Ypres to maintain such a monument & tradition is testimony to their gratitude to those who died.

Important! The site is undergoing maintenance for all of 2023 so the gate is covered with scaffolding. The site is astounding and worth a visit if you're in the city. Every evening they pay tribute to those named here and lay wreaths to the fallen with buglers performing the last post. This tends to get very busy so be sure to arrive early.

Was such a great atmosphere! The evening last post ceremony was incredible and something I will never ever forget. Would definitely recommend watching the ceremony as it's amazing to witness. The only reason for the 4/5 instead of 5/5 stars was because unfortunately when we visited there was scaffolding up but that can't be helped-hoping to visit again when the scaffolding is gone!

A very sobering experience. To see the 50,000+ names makes them people and not just part of a statistic. The remembrance ceremony at 20.00hrs each day is very well done, is somber, and they do ask people not to applaud.

Such an evocative place. So, many names of those who have no known grave and from so many different nations. It is a sobering experience just to see so many names, ranks, regiments. On the right hand side (if approaching from town) and just before you go under the gate there is a slope, if you walk up there you can find the Indian and the Ghurka memorials. There is also a fabulous scale model of the Menin Gate with Braille panels for those with a visual impairment. You won't be disappointed and if in the area it is a must see monument to those who gave their tomorrow's for our today's.

A truly humbling experience. This was the highlight of our short trip to Belgium. A must visit for those wishing to pay their respects.

I already visited the Menin Gate many times in my life and when I did yesterday 26.09.23 I found the Gate currently being restored which of course was a shame. However, I fully understand the necessity of doing so and look forward to see the Gate again in its full beauty. The Poppies wreath is to be found in front of the Gate about 50 mtrs further down the road. Lest we forget 🏵️

This is an excellent museum and well worth the price (you can get a joint ticket with the Ypres museum but this one is better). It’s all about WW1 and is excellent. The tech is amazing with wristbands used as a access card for various displays. It works very well. You can also pay an extra Euro 2 for an audio tour (we didn’t) and the same to go up the belfry which is really good. If you’re interested in WW1 then go here before you is the tours of the battlefields and cemeteries as you’ll bet a better understanding of the absolute horror of what went on in the area. It’s really worth the money (there is also an absolutely amazing ice cream and waffle shop across the road from the entrance!). Note that the museum cafe is very expensive. Best eat elsewhere off the main square.

A wealth of information and genuine exhibits from the WWI era. Wireless touch points scattered throughout the displays enable visitors to receive more detail in a selection of languages. This enables visitors to explore beyond the basic information texts explaining exhibits. There is also a cafe. Also access to the clock tower and outside on the roof to admire the impressive views.

The museum is housed in a beautiful building. It provides extensive information about the course of the war and displays some beautiful artifacts. There's also plenty of interactive opportunities with the wristband provided. Parking is available everywhere. Audio tours are available for €2. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Great museum. Only downside is some of the information boards at the bottom of some of the displays are too bright making the actual displays a little difficult to see.

An absolutely fabulous museum. So well done - we spent two and a half hours here and could have spent more but we had a ferry to catch. Absolutely go for the audio tour - so much information and it brought the exhibits to life. Going up to the bell tower was a great extra too - amazing 360 degree views across the roofs of Ypres.

A must visit if you're ever visiting Ypres, there is a small charge with a discount for those of us over 60. I totally recommend getting the audio assistance (only an extra €2) this will give you a commentary in English at each of the exhibits throughout as you go. You can also pay a little extra to go up to visit the Belfry (231 steps up) this is best for the reasonably fit BUT TOTALLY worth the effort. I have visited the Museum & Belfry a good number of times, seen something new, & learned more on each visit. 'Lest We Forget' has become a saying we all know, the In Flanders Fields Museum really helps to truly explain the sayings importance.

This place was a must-see. The museum itself was very interesting. The entrance of the gallery offers a well-written descriptions of situation in the years before 1914 (belle époque). We paid for access to the bells and views of the city, which was entirely worth it. We also were given wrist bands so that the exhibitions would be tailored to a particular identity. Unfortunately I did not take much advantage of it but would if I had more time.

This is the best museum I have ever visited in my life, now 81 years so far. It uses audio visual media with remarkable success. Fact, drama and emotion combine for a powerful experience. Expect to be moved. I wish all politicians took the time to visit and learn. Very worthwhile.

Wow! An extraordinarily good museum about the First World War! The exhibition uses many different media such as videos, audio tours, and classic showcases in order to get the information across. This is especially practical while travelling with kids, because it never gets boring. I also love how the museum contains historical artifacts from various countries, so that everybody can find something in their native language. I would advise paying the two euros to go to the tower, the view truly is astonishing! I spent two and a half hours here and I was not disappointed. Huge recommendation!

Great museum! It really humanizes the history of the Great War and makes it approachable. There are many videos and descriptions present. The trip to the bell tower is great too for only extra €2.

so very well done - we spent 4 1/2 hours going round. Profoundly moving Great view from the top of the Bell tower - time it for the hour to watch and hear the carillon.

I loved this museum. I spent around two hours inside and the audiotour was excellent for an additional €2; it enriched the whole experience. There were three levels of detail to the tour- children’s (marked with poppies), the basic tour (shorter spiels) and then a greater depth version. Whatbi loved is that I could pick and choose based on what I’m interested in, I.e. learn more about the weapons, artists and trench life but could skip the actor’s monologues. We also paid the extra €2 each to climb to the top of the tower. There were ~250 steps but the view was worth it. The museum wasn’t too busy, though it was a Monday morning. The cafe wasn’t open and the gift shop was okay- prices weren’t too bad compared to other museums. A great morning out!

Part of a history trip I've been on for a few years. Great museum and interactive areas which give greater insight into horrors of WW1. Certainly worth a visit and Ypres Town is beautiful

This is a must to add to your itinerary. This museum has great displays with so much information and videos of actors telling real peoples stories, they were very moving and sombering. There are audio guides for different language options. You can also climb to the top of the tower, not for the faint of heart but there are some lovely views. The gift shop was great and staff were friendly.

Contemporary approach to a very sobering topic. The building itself was beautiful and my children (11) loved the interactivity learning about the lives of different soldiers on the screens. We followed the visit by a short drive out to Tyne Cot cemetery which was beautiful and a sight to behold. Can also highly recommend the waffle House opposite the museum- very reasonable and the ice cream was delicious

A must see museum that shows the true horror that soldiers and civilians endured in the 1st world war. Including life in the trenches, free time, equipment, uniforms (of all involved) and medical care. Lots of awful statistics too. Very emotion and moving at times. Be good for the younger generation to learn all about the war and what happened. 10 euro entrance fee and we here here 3 half hours so good value for money. We paid extra 2 euro to go up bell tower. Their was also another exhibition at the end all about the military cemeteries. I took no photos as it did not seem right, just some from the bell tower. It was housed in a beautiful building that is undergoing renovations.

Located inside the Cloth Hall this is an excellent museum with many interesting exhibits. It takes you through the war from start to finish.

Check events going on in Square before booking! We booked the three bedroom apartment for Friday and Saturday on the basis it was nice and close to everything for our family of 4 kids and 2 adult. The apartment had plenty of room for our family although the beds weren't large but there was a concert on in the market square on the Saturday night that was very loud and continued until almost midnight. Our children were older and did manage to get some sleep, but if you had smaller, noise sensitive children or adults, you would have been quite annoyed. There is a toilet downstairs as well as upstairs, and the stairs are metal and unforgiving, but there is a lift that you need to have a key on to use. If you enter it without the key and the doors shut, you can't get out- as one of our children discovered!

Absolutely brilliant place.

Lots of fun, even when it was a very wet day.. but rain = no waiting in lines :) but when there's a lot of people, you can wait all day and maybe go on 5 rides, if you're lucky. No fast passes or loney riders possible.. and no it's not a zoo.. and therefor in my opinion, not the place to keep large animals, specially no leopards in a glass box. But the rides are perfect if you have little kids

Fantastic and fun day out for the whole family. The park is part zoo part fun park. It has some really great roller coasters and section for the youngest kids also. Their halloween decorations are some of the best I've ever seen. I would thoroughly recommend a day out with your family here!

Highly recommended for family fun if you have kids < 12. My 10-year old boy told me to give 5-star rating immediately once we were done when the park closed. It has very good variations between themes (Mexico, Wild West, India, Canada) it even has section for Kids park where we were able to play with our other 1-year boy.

Very good day out.. Theme park rides fun, queues not too bad on Easter Sunday morning. Very much enjoyed seeing the animals too. Only negative was long queues at the food concessions - they could have done with more staff on.

My favorite attractions park with a zoo! You can switch between riding some attractions or walk around looking at the zoo. So you can always balance them out.

Very nice theme park with usually lines that are not too long. The Bellewaerde app is great to find your way around the park and find out the waiting times. You can also see a range of zoo animals.

Great place for family. The entertainments are for all ages. For kids with at least 90cm height there are more options. It was a dryer that people can use it for 2 euros. The wating time was less than 30 minutes and in average around 10 minutes in the weekend. There are a separate queue for people that use wheelchair. When we arrived the parking we found the parking belongs to Aqua and it is requested that we park in Bellewaerde parking that was in 5 minutes from the parking place in Google map.

Great and fun park with attractions the whole family can enjoy. I was impressed with how green and nature-oriented the park was! Staff was really friendly and helpful as well! I went on a not so busy day, but even then they were running multiple trains on the coasters! Never had to wait more than 10 minutes because of exceptionally fast operations! This park is more oriented towards families, so for a day out with kids, it's the perfect destination!

My fav: Huracan & Wakala. Good theming. Suitable for families and kids. There are done wild animals too. Leopard wasn't home. Staffs are nice. Did not eat there. Parking and paying are easy. The park is not doing well. Certainly needs upgrade to stay competitive.

It was loads of fun! It was decorated for Halloween. It’s more dedicated to children and people who do not particularly like crazy rollercoasters. There are a few exciting rides and water attractions. Moreover, there are many animals to see (goats, alpacas, giraffes, lions, leopards, flamencos…).

Place of Magic . I have no words to say . It was wonderful.

Great little museum which takes 30-60 mins to get through. Massive collection of memorabilia but even better is it a good mix of German memorabilia as well. Great 15 min video about the area and the flow of the war. Also has a good restaurant /cafe on site.

It's a great smaller museum, on the site of an actual World War I battle. Very moving. Lots to look at and read. Much of it in English. A nice cafe in the museum as well, which can be visited without paying to go into the museum.

Excellent collection of WW1 artifacts. We've been a few times and the museum offers up new items to view each time. The cafe that the museum is attached to is a bonus. They serve hot and cold, alcohol and non alcoholic beverages and the food is very good also. The owners have a really nice way about them and make you feel very welcome. There are also holiday lets at the site, so this could be a good base to have for a longer visit to the Western Front. We highly recommend that you visit this unique place and to take a look at its history.

Was originally heading to sanctuary woods but it looked closed. We wouldn't have time for both so glad we ended up here. Good well presented collection and nice little cafe with friendly staff.

Well organized, little museum that builds up the scenes from the WWI in a interesting and educative way. Well worth the money and the collection of things shows both sides of the fighting parties at the location in a good way.

This privately run museum is a gem! The exhibits are laid out in a logical and engaging way. Also, being able to link (via QR code) to a YouTube video of the museum owner's sons present the story of animals in war time was a really nice touch. The owner himself was very friendly, and it was nice to be able to talk with him and to ask about his motivation for creating the museum .... but I'll not spoil the story and let you find out for yourself when you visit. We picked a very cold, wet and windy day to visit so it was so nice after our tour of the museum to be able to sit in the warm cafe and enjoy a cup of tea - we even got fresh milk, which we had no idea is something that is very rare in this part of the world!! A great museum that is beautifully entertained. The diaporams are great made. The museum is just very small but also entertaining. If there are too many visitors it can get very noisy and crowded. Across the street there is a cemetery of the English forces that is worth seeing. The restaurant of the museum is recommended for a small snack. Very friendly service.

I thoroughly recommend a visit to this museum if you are in the Ypres Salient. We visited as a group with a mix of ages. We had lunch as part of our group entry. A lovely sandwich with a drink. The museum is informative and full of artefacts from the First World War. You can also take a walk up the road to the remains of trenches. Niek and his family are very welcoming. Do go and visit.

Great Museum this. Lots of exhibits and lots of original history as well. This was part of the Great War. Nice cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. Parking outside or down the lane next door. Not expensive to enter and the cafe was senisble price. Would highley recommend if you in the area. Easy to find on the main road.

Cracking little bar does nice light lunch. They have a church attached that has been transformed into a WW1 museum. Packed full of fantastic artifacts. They have so much stuff in there it's well worth a visit. Be warned on Tuesday only open to organised tours.

Brilliant museum with some really interesting interactive parts which really keep the kids interest piqued. The museum pieces are really well preserved and well looked after. The kids had a little map to follow with some questions on which helped them to learn and they got a prize at the end if they completed it. It was quite large so took a while to get around which was nice. There is a cafe attached which does a small food menu which we would have ate at but the prices were a bit too much for what was on offer.

Family run site very well maintained. We were fortunate to be shown a German and allies trench along with finds from the local battlefield Musuem had life size displays and some vehicles from WW1. As part of a ledger tour we also had lunch at the cafe

Hill 62 has more to see and do, including a museum and trenches, but Hill 60 was left untouched after the war an features the true landscape after the war. There is also a massive hole created by an allied bomb that was tunneled under German troops. Great site overall!

Given its next to a tourist site I feel maybe a little effort with non locals would go a long way.abiance is nice.up market food plating was good time quality good no on street parking but plenty out back through one way side street waitress was nice 👍

Hill 60 looks swish from the outside, and it is the same inside. The friendly staff served us our delicious food quickly. As a light lunch, we ordered the tapas for two, which I highly recommend. The restaurant is just across the road from the craters.

A very moving and though provoking place. Amazing that it's left virtually untouched since the end of the First World War.

An interesting place to visit. There are a few memorials dedicated to the fallen. It was peaceful and helped me stop for a while and try and imagine what went on there 100 years ago. Close by is Caterpillar crater.

Small but very poignant WW1 cemetery. For someone like me who is a military history enthusiast, places like this remind me of the absolute waste that each and every name on stones like these are.

Small, but well worth the visit. Moving. It is easy to miss if you drive too quickly and aren't looking. This is where the famous poem In Flanders Fields by John McCrae was written in May 1915. It is beautifully maintained. It is revealing to see the medical bunkers, and this really delivers a sense of the conditions. There are/were many more graves than are currently marked and the wooden crosses in the poem have been replaced with tombstones. Of the ~1,000 Canadians originally buried, only seven tombstones remain for example. The grave of McRae's friend that moved him to write the poem is not among the seven.

Came here as part of a private tour to learn about WWI, and to stand in the site where John McCrae wrote "In Flanders Fields" is awe inspiring. The most amazing part was in the field behind us wild poppies were growing, sitting beneath the memorial cross. Brings a tear to your eyes. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend spending some time here to remember those who came before and fought.

Very poignant for me as this was probably the place where my great uncle was first bought from the front when injured in July 1917 before being transferred to Brandhoek where he was buried. The concrete structures were amazing. Well maintained cemetery.

One of many impressive cemeteries around Ypres. This one makes it more interesting as being mostly of the first phase of WW1 1914-1915 and with the adjacent hospital bunker / dressing station of John McCrae, who wrote famous poem In Flanders Fields.

The poem that every Canadian child is exposed to was written here. There's a memorial explaining how it came to be and plenty of Canadiana around. Soberly sign the guest book, find the geocache and more light heartedly sign the logbook.

A truly amazing place, very sad to see the sacrifice. This is the location of one of the youngest boys killed in the war aged 15

Beautiful little piece of land dedicated to the fallen of the Commonwealth. The simple crosses with names overlooking the water protecting the city make you wonder of the sacrifices these people made for an inch of land. We forget how easy it is now to cross from Brussels to Paris to London and fly back again to Berlin. However, just a few generations back, this was not possible.

One of the most beautiful little commonwealth war cemeteries in Europe. Well worth a visit when strolling the ramparts around the city center. The ramparts were once part of the front line and many a soldier lost his life here. The cemetery contains 198 Commonwealth burials of the First World War. Amongst these are the graves of six New Zealand troops killed simultaneously by the same shell, grouped together.

Such a beautiful memorial to the brave young men of Flanders fields who made the ultimate sacrifice. Well worth visiting if taking in the Menin Gate.

A small and moving First World War cemetery, beautifully situated on the riverbanks and accessible via a pleasant walk on the town ramparts. Quiet and peaceful, very moving.

Accessibility - There are multiple ways to access this cemetery but the one I took wasn’t wheelchair friendly so my review may not be very accurate. Cost - It’s free!

This may be worth a trip to Ypres on its own. The walls feel like they'll fall under the weight of the memorials and plaques to the dead. I'm surprised it featured a bit less in my search results than its effect would suggest it should. Stop through, read the inscriptions, and hopefully you'll be as fortunate as I was to have the church to yourself for a while. This place embodies loss and sacrifice, a notable reminder to all of us of war's cost.

Last night, Wednesday,27th March at St. George's Church, I Ron attended the Rhos Male Voice Choir show and it was brilliant. The church was full and for 1 hour 50 minutes it was amazing to see & listen to! They did about 18 beautiful hymn-songs!

Lovely church and a fitting tribute to all the men & women who gave their lives for their country during the great war.

As with much about Ypres, there is an enduring sadness to all the lives lost there. Still, there are beacons of hope like this little Anglican Church, which is a fabulous testament to some of the British regiments that fought there more than a century ago. Just ten minutes inside and one can walk out feeling a great deal more peace than when they walked in.

Nice little church dedicated to the memory of the fallen soldiers of the Commonwealth during World War I. Loads of memorabilia and plaquettes from famous people and units. Many of family of fallen soldiers has been able to mourn their lost ones here.

A beautiful church, visited with a male voice choir from Wales.

Worth a visit just to see the lovely handmade cushion covers, featuring various organisations. We were fortunate to hear the peeling of the bells as well!

A stunning cathedral with some wonderful treasures inside. It had some interesting statues by the entrance and I loved the circular stained glass windows. Their was some huge paintings some of which were quite dark with age. The cathedrals treasure were secure behind glass and it was nice to see the old robes and artefacts. The ceilings were amazing. The modern war memorial was a nice touch. Well worth visiting and free entrance too

This church is a must-visit in Ypres. It wasn’t even on Trip Advisor’s top ten things to do in the city so it originally wasn’t on our list. Fortunately, it’s towering presence is hard to miss once you get to the main square. Stunning architecture, vibrant stained glass windows, and beautiful artwork.

Finding a few minutes to myself in the middle of a school trip, I hesitantly walked through the door of this wonderful cathedral not know what to expect. The sight was inspiring. I loved the solemn atmosphere and was thrilled to have the whole building to myself on a pleasant Friday morning. The artwork that adorned the walls was beautiful and the sculptures had a great variety. I particularly liked looking at the history of the building and reconciling the ruins to the restoration and how tastefully it has been done. The carvings salvaged from the ruins are a great reminder of the near total destruction of the building and put into perspective just how amazing the reconstruction of this building is. It was an amazing moment of calm and one of my favourite moments of our two day tour of the area.

Very impressive cathedral. It's history is really sad, it's good to see that the restoration is sympathetic to it's history.

I went at night for "ghost hunting," as my brother calls it. I think it's bogus, but anyway, beautiful site. I respect all soldiers, and I meant nothing bad when joining the "ghost hunt."

Rating is not relevant. A small place with big importance. Head stones from 15 to 37 years old. Steeped in history.

It was here that John McCrae, a surgeon, wrote the famous poem 'In Flanders Fields', in which he writes about his observance of poppies blooming in the war shocked land! Its because of this poem that till date poppies are a symbol of war remembrance.

In Flanders' fields... Different then when he wrote the poem, imagine the hole in the mud that made the aid station, the bunker was built a little while later but still...

Met some nice small mice in there, so the experience was even more accurate :)

After reading about then very brave man then finding were he worked to help the wounded men from battle it was not at all what you expected then he died from septicaemia its heart breaking

A glimpse of life back then and a very poignant cemetery

A UNESCO world heritage site located in the heart of the city. Absolutely stunning as it stands high in the sky. I could not stop admiring it as I stood for a long moment in the market square. Buying the tickets in advance is absolutely recommended. Unfortunately we could not enter inside because of the long waiting time, but the pictures from other visitors look really promising. Will definitely go to the top in our next visit.

Amazing landmark with a lovely view. Be aware that you have to climb all the way up as this requires significant physical effort. Book your tickets in advance in the machine at the entrance.

It’s the city centre of Brugge (a city of historic importance in Belgium). This place has wonderful 360 degree panoramic views with beautiful architecture in Bruges. This area is surrounded by coffee shops, shopping area, stores and restaurants are nearby. The center is always lively. It's a must visit area if you are in Bruges.

800 year old clock tower of Bruges with 366 steps up to the top. Well worth the ticket price for the views from the top. If you book your tickets for 20 minutes before the hour, you should make it to the top as the clock chimes. Amazing experience.

Valuable time spent well with a climb to the top. Staff were friendly and helpful. Especially the kindly spoken young lad with the 3 day growth. The walk to the top was a tight fit at times and rewards the punter with not only an amazing view but a close up demonstration of the bells at work every 15 minutes. Beautiful Bruges

Magnificent specimen of architecture! You must visit the Belfry during different times of the day. At dawn, it's tranquil and you can enjoy the tower without the distractions of large crowds. At night, the lighting brings out a different side of the tower. In the afternoons, there is a lot of commercial activity in the square and you can see the square being enjoyed by the locals. See the photos and videos for views of the Belfry and its chimes being played. It is unfortunate that lots two stroke motorcycles and mopeds regularly pass through the square and disturb the peace. They are so incongruous here.

The city’s primary landmark and tourist attraction. The climb is only for the very fit but the rest of the building and its square are a nice place to just hang out and soak in the city. Tourist trap alert: there are many “rickshaws” you can rent from the square for a city tour.

Historic bell tower in the city center of Bruges. There are about 275 steps to the top and the view from up there is worth the climb. You can have a panoramic view of the old city with canals and other churches and towers. If you have time, then I suggest that you book the tickets in advance to watch the sunset, if the weather permits.

We paid 15 Euro to climb the 366 steps and it can be quite dizzy because of the constant spiral loop. But it didn’t take as long as we thought, nor was it as tiring as expected. There are platforms at different levels with information where you can take a respite from the climb. Beautiful view once you reach the top.

I had a nice time there. Excellent view from the top, but be ready for a long climb up. We did not buy tickets in advance, all were sold but luckily someone did not show so they let us in. I would advice you to buy tickets in advance, not to risk. People working there are polite and welcoming.

An amazing experience, really enjoyable. I recommend go early, we did the first session of the day as it wasn't too crowded. You do need a reasonable level of fitness to climb the 366 steps.

Nice view from the top of it but unfortunately there is net all around so you can take good picture with the view. Booked your ticket online to climb up 300 stairs. It is interesting to see the inside and learned some history. The stairs are a bit steep but given that they control the amount of people going up per time slot it’s not too crowded.

Climbing the belfry was an amazing experience. It is not as tiring as I expected, since there are stops along the way up where one can rest. That said, the ticket price (at €14 on my visit) was a little much for a simple access to the steps with no extra features.

A must visit if you're in Bruges...and definitely if you've seen the movie. Tickets can be bought at the time or in allocated time slots in advance online. The stairs start off reasonably wide but get very narrow the nearer you get to the top. Anyon of a reasonable fitness level will be perfectly fine but don't worry as there are a few zooms on the way up that you can stop at should you need a rest. The views from the top are stunning although there is a wire mesh covering all the openings at the top. If the bell tolls at the top it will.probably make you jump. Overall I'd say it's pretty good value for money

Historic place to see in Bruges. Lost of cafe and restaurant nearby. The centre in front of belfry is always lively. The look from the history museum of Bruges is nice, covering the centre, belfry and all around. Must visit area. Will also find the city tour van and tourists guide in front of it.

Recommend you buy tickets online in advance, or at the vending machine at the bottom of the tower , or last instance at the entrance. There are tickets / time-slots , so they run fast (I think max 25 for every 20min) The climb is indeed manageable, as there are floors in between.

Really enjoyed going up the Belfry, 300+ steps, but worth the price and effort to get amazing views over Antwerp. As you ascend, there are areas to rest, if needed, and learn more about the belfrys history. If you time it right, you will also see and hear the huge musical drum work as it strikes the time. The top bit is protected from birds by a black plastic mesh, but its easy to get round this for photos, by lining up your phone or camera lens to get the awesome pics! Staff were friendly and welcoming too👍

Very worthwhile to visit and to take all 366 stairs to the highest accessible point. Mind you, stairs are quite narrow and it takes a serious effort. Breathtaking view especially with clear weather, obviously. Ticket vending machine can be found in the passage that goes under/through the belfry tower building.

I enjoyed climbing up this tower. You can see Brugge 360 degrees. Also, we were up there when the bell rung. It was loud but it was very neat to see the hammer hitting the bell... If you want to go to this tower and a number other points of interests in Brugge, get the Museum package for 3 days. It is worth it.

Great fun going up the 366 narrow winding steps. We picked a very windy day which added to the experience!! An amazing mechanical display as well as the bells and you can hear them playing tunes at certain times.

Very nice climb up to the top. Around 300 stairs and they are pretty narrow, so be prepared. You get some great views of the city and beyond on a clear day.

We really wanted to visit it and when we arrived at 16.55 there was only one ticket available from 17.00. The gentlemen at the counter were very kind and still gave us two tickets. If you can plan to arrive at a certain time, I recommend you book tickets, otherwise you might not find tickets. The access staircase is quite narrow and those going down have priority. It is worth 15 euros and all the 366 steps for a fantastic view.

We climbed up in the evening after dark. I imagine the views would have been better during the daylight hours but it was still nice to see the city lights and also the history of the tower. The stairs aren't too difficult to climb (for an early 30s couple) with plenty of landings and floors to take breaks at, however the spiral staircase is quite narrow in places so maybe not the best for people who are nervous of confined spaces. We bought tickets online in advance and not have to queue to get in.

You get to see a great view of the city, but not anything special. I recommend to book your ticket prior to your visit there, so you can get in at the time you want, however you can book the ticket the same day at the entrance, but probably there will be a spot at least a couple of hours later. There're 366 steps you get to climb, some of them were really small; dutch-type steps. I don't believe it's worth the 15€.

Amazing view of the city and the literal central point of the city. We reserved and booked time slots the day before to go up but also it sells out quickly so try to book as early as possible. We also went on a weekend but it was in February. Lots of climbing but its not too bad, there are multiple levels you can stop and relax. The one right before the top is nice, you can see how the bells work. Last is the pure lookout point and you have a nice view of the city.

The Belfort or Belfry is the iconic landmark in the center of Bruges. It’s a medieval bell tower built around the year 1240. We bought tickets online for a Tuesday 9:40 time slot. The booking system is super easy because it tells you how many tickets are left for each time slot, and you don’t need to book too far in advance. There weren’t too many people when we went but there were already people coming back down. There are some areas of the climb that are narrow, so just be mindful of that. It took us about 15 minutes to get to the top and when you get up there, it is so cool! You see the actual bell (beware, it’s LOUD, obviously since you’re right next to it) and you can look down on the square. Although it’s not a complete 360 view since the bell blocks some of the access, it’s still a sight to see. The whole experience from going up, taking photos at the top, coming back down took us about 45 minutes. It did start getting a bit more crowded when we were heading back down, so my recommendation is to go early. Definitely a must see if you’re in Bruges!
